lot at all with what happened with San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearson on Saturday was downtown San Francisco after a signing event he was robbed on the street someone was trying to snatch his watch and I don't know the exact details of how it all went down but the perpetrator ended up getting shot by his own gun Ricky Pearson was also shot in the chest reports from Aaron Pearson all his mother she said on Facebook that the shot went into his chest and exited out his back but thanks be to God it missed his vital organs she said and he's in good spirits and since then that update of this from Matt Mayoko earlier today crock on Sunday that uh Ricky Pearson has now been upgraded to fair condition at San Francisco general hospital Pearson all spent the night in the hospital after since dating that gunshot wound to the chest after an alleged armed robbery and then an update from the San Francisco 49ers today and they said he and his family along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization like to thank the San Francisco police department emergency medical services doctors and staff at San Francisco general hospital that Ricky Pearson has now been released from a hospital this afternoon and he continues to recover from a bullet wound to the chest just an unbelievable situation is a scary situation that could have been much much worse you never know how these things are going to go and uh it's great to hear that he was okay and I think we got the kind of thumbs up right away from Debo Samuel there were a lot of reports that were kind of conflicted I saw one I was like he's in critical condition and you know not doing well and he might and I'm like whoa what the heck is going on but as you kind of waited and filtered out the noise and got to people that were kind of either there or talking to people that was there like directly like real new sources were confirmed sources it you did start to understand you know what I think he's going to be okay then again Debo Samuel's kind of tweeted out talked to my guy and you know he's going to be okay but it is scary man anytime you hear something like that and then you heard conflicted reports on just where he got shot was it an arm I saw someone in the chat say it was a flesh wound was it a flesh wound from the reports of his mother it sounds like it was not a flesh wound like this is he got shot and the bullet went through him through his body it started in the front and came out the back I mean that's like that's more than a flesh wound for me crock I don't know man um he was shot he was shot he got shot I mean and that's terrible oh dude and seeing the video of him like with his shirt over his chest walking to the ambulance and the fact that he could walk to the ambulance after being shot in the chest and then just sitting down and then you see the shirt get removed and he's just bloody everywhere and I mean that didn't hit any organs I mean the chest that could have hit a lot of things and so really just you know you thankful for it and and and you're so glad that it turned out this way and because it could have been obviously so so much worse and I I don't know I don't see how you I would have said no I'm staying in the hospital for a while guys because I'm not I can't you know what I mean shot in the the bullet enters his body in the front came out the back that that's wild to me and I'm glad Ricky Pierce also K is is the big part of it and clearly toughness a trait that this young man has yeah scary and you know it just it just sucks that you and I learned you know I'm I'm from Stockton I live in Stockton you know I grew up here and I've seen a lot of crime and because of how I've seen it and how close I've been to it I I'm very aware of moving a certain way when you're out and about and understanding how some people's mindsets are like my head is always on this level and I don't want to say I'm paranoid like I go you know I have a good time but I'm very very alert and aware and I don't do certain things this situation was all over a Rolex and it is crazy to think that you know you can't just wear a Rolex in public but you can you have every right to wear your watch your nice things your jewelry everything just be aware that there could potentially be someone that wants that and it sucks that that's the way the world is I think I saw a lot of people making it like kind of this political thing and it's a San Francisco thing come man it's everywhere I've been for the most part you know for the most part it's a lot of places where go places there might be one person in all the Texas one person to see you have something that they want and they don't have or they can't afford and it's very unfortunate that people are sick like that and this was a kid in Tracy from Tracy right up the street from me you know and I don't even know what he's doing out there you know traveling in San Francisco just to see like hey is there somebody here to rob in Union Square like that that that's ridiculous but a 17 year old kid tried to rob this dude and both of their lives are changed forever right I mean just taking the shot my stepdad got shot several times like you know talking to him it changes your life getting shot but also the person who now will be behind bars for who knows how long his life has changed too and that's why I get in the coaching you know I love coaching I love trying to impact you know or have some type of impact on the kids in this community in the 209 yesterday I sat there all day watching kids that I coached shouted Jacob Davis who scored multiple touchdowns against Houston shot the Jonah Coleman scored three touchdowns you know for Washington last night watching these kids but there's also some kids where I couldn't quite help and they're behind bars and they did this and it's unfortunate but you do what you can and I hope you know this kid learned his lesson I'm sure he did but it's a tough lesson for him and for Ricky Pierce all very very very unfortunate yeah and you mentioned the thing about you know a lot of people trying to make a lot about this make it about the city about whatever and somebody in the chat said why why is everyone mentioned that it's from Tracy well the point is that like this wasn't like somebody in San Francisco from San Francisco that is Robin Ricky Pierce all right it's not the same thing about the city of Tracy either it's just that you can get all the way out of here trying to make any kind of assumptions about the city of San Francisco because of this one event and I've seen so many really knuckle-headed comments and dumb stuff about it and speaking of knuckleheads this young kid that they try to come in the city and try to use it as an ATM like what are you doing man the whole thing is terrible and you just really were thankful that it didn't end the way it could have for Ricky Pierce all or anybody else that was on the street there we're talking about gunfire on the street like any stray bullet could have gone anywhere there could have been a kid next to them there could have been someone down the street there's a lot of people around the downtown San Francisco this is a busy area and Union Square and so yeah yeah really unfortunate event and so thankful that Ricky Pierce all has been released and the injuries are you know minor enough that they're not fishing for as it was mentioned in the chat they're not fishing for shrapnel out of his body right now and it you know was apparently as clean as a gunshot could be like still to me it's beyond me man through the front of the body out of the back of the body it's just like cool in and out of the hospital and that's it but thankful thankful that it's as minor as it was for Ricky Pierce all a really scary incident that could have been a lot worse alright crock next we got a talk about the latest with the San Francisco 49ers as we approach the season got something but uh said Crockett Pierce on Mrs. Games is he out on game checks uh no he he still will get his game checks usually with injuries depending on how they categorize this like it might be um there are also some differences when you have an injury outside of football but I'm assuming they're not going to take money away from them there's usually a split so happy to speak or not happy to speak when I signed my contract there was a total amount uh year one it was like four hundred five thousand but if I was on the IR then it was I would have gotten two hundred and eighty eight thousand I believe it was so he you know he'll be back you know hopefully a guy that was you know got shot and released the next day I'd assume that hey man he'll up get healthy but we should be seeing him back on the field something like this kind of happened in the off season with Tengdil Tengdil got shot in the leg this off season and it didn't make a whole lot of noise but um because I think by the time people woke up it was like oh he's fine he's good but he was like right back out there kind of like shortly after that so uh depending on how how this thing happened it sounds like again in and out I'd assume that he'll be back at some point and they may take a little bit of money away from him depending on if there's like or they're gonna put them on IR for a certain amount of weeks or whatever but if they just have him maybe not active then he may get a little bit less just for those games but he should be fine and again don't quote me on that but yeah I mean that's right how it works he's on the 53 so uh unless it like really affected him in his career and he wasn't able to collect because it's not going to affect him in the short term he's gonna and he was already somebody who might have been you know not suiting up in week one because of his other shoulder injury already I'm not sure which shoulder it hurt it was the same side opposite side I know it was his right chest uh is where he was shot uh you know looking at the video that's where the the blood was on his chest if you haven't seen that video um and and so yeah yeah it's not going to affect his um his status with the team and his paychecks in the short term unless it's something that you know long-term doesn't allow him to have the career that that uh that he would have had and luckily at this point it looks like that's not going to be the case although you know he might be out a little bit longer than we expected who knows maybe even an IR stat but that won't affect his his pay his paychecks either um I have one more question here about Ricky Pearsall that I want to get to this was from Twitter from Steven says between the holdouts and Pearsall not being able to play yet do you get the feeling that there are bad vibes with this team this year I'm afraid this is setting up to be a disappointing season uh I don't think so obviously Trent Williams is a big one now I think vibes were a little bit weird and we felt that at camp somewhat Croc but I think this is a galvanizing event for the team right they had the the roster party which I assume Ricky Pearsall was getting ready to go to and then this is so I got a text message about that because a lot of people are wondering what was he doing and we heard something about an autograph signing yeah you know you hear that and like oh it happened on autograph signing but from my understanding the autograph signing was like earlier and then maybe he was in the city shopping for the event that the 49ers were doing that night that was a text message I got that a party that night he might have really needed to go up his suit game knowing what Kyle Shanahan was gonna wear to the party Kyle Shanahan by the way was hosting the party at his house apparently the 53 man roster party is what they what they're calling it I assume that Roth the uh the the practice squad guys were there as well so Ricky Pearsall might have been like a shopping for a cane I'm not sure what uh he might have needed to get to accessorize to be ready for that party uh the party still went down but I but I think that's kind of where I'm going with this is the party still went down and the news on Ricky Pearsall was really good and obviously the Niners players and organization were getting the news sooner than that we were on that with Ricky Pearsall I think this is a galvanizing event I think this is something that as insane as it sounds can help the San Francisco 49ers really bring everybody together you get Ricky Pearsall back you see the photos of Kyle Shanahan in his white suit next to Deebo Samuel and next to Brandon Iyuk and Rick Ross is there as well and um it's all it's all smiles I really feel like the vibes could could flip that fast and that's how that's how quick it happens in a football game right Croc like all of a sudden one big turnover one big play all of a sudden oh man momentum shifts I think that's what it's been like this offseason for the 49ers you get Trent Williams signed I would even carry it over a little bit more but I think an event like this that has happened with Ricky Pearsall uh and and sort of a rallying event a galvanizing event for the team you got Brandon Iyuk back now everyone's kind of hugs ready to go you see the your eyes are on the prize now your your game week starts now I think this could really flip it quick for the 49ers as far as vibes vibes that were for sure bad it felt like could get a lot better like really quick and in fact it could happen in an instant and it might have already had switched the vibes were definitely odd for for me you and I we had that conversation you know with what we do you know uh covering the 49ers talking to you all about them we try to keep our emotions out of it but I was talking to peacock and I'm like there's just something about this offseason it just feels a little down it feels a little odd and the moment I signed for me it was almost like that that light switch got flipped on and oh the vibes are kind of back and you're missing big Trent Williams and you want him out there but you're starting to feel a bit more whole again and when you have an incident like this with Ricky Pearsall you talked about being galvanizing and guys just like coming together whether it's for him or just coming together as a team and say like all right man like let's let's let's do this and I hope that's what they do I love this from David they should just pay Trent just to escort players when they're around and out and about in the city uh yeah it's funny like and and according to the reports that the robbery didn't happen because the young man that's suspected of this was like trying to find an NFL player Ricky Pearsall yeah you saw the watch and you might saw you know he might not have tried to take Trent Williams Rolex if he saw him on the street so that's not a bad idea David to have Trent Williams rolling with guys when they're out about wherever they are uh and like you guys just wonder why guys go with you you wonder why like famous people roll with entourage's by the way that's why right uh it was Robinson the running back for the washing the commanders he got shot in a robbery and I think some people assume that if you just give up whatever you have then are it's over with and they just and sometimes they do just leave but sometimes they'll take it it's still poppy so um you know it is tough I'm not saying hey stand there and struggle and fight with someone that's pointing a gun at you but uh it's hard to say what you would do in that moment you know all of us especially if I can I can only speak for me but if I have like my wife with me or my kids like I'm I'm their protector so I don't know if he had you know his lady with him or whatever but I know me personally if I feel like man giving this up is going to save everybody or I might say man I feel like my wife is in danger and my kids are in danger and if that's what triggers in my head then I'm not going down without a fight even but again I don't know how I would be in that moment it's hardly I don't have people just pointing a gun at me trying to take my apple watch right and you don't really know how I went down was like because I can imagine what it would be like your downtown San Francisco some 17 year old kid comes up to you you'd be like get the hell out of here kid we don't like was it like was the gun in your when his guess his forehead was in his face like you have no idea how this whole event went down and any of this stuff could change in an instant maybe the gun was not flashed at first then the gun comes out now you're in front now you're confronting this person now you you reach for it because now you're you're you're in imminent danger because you're face to face with this person already like how did the event go down I have no idea so I can't advise on how it went down or what Ricky Pierce all should have been different or what anybody should do different in their own situation so you just kind of have to live life and and feel that that for yourself and feel it out and and do what you feel like is right to protect yourself and protect your family but protect yourself and protect your families the most important thing not fighting somebody just because you think that you don't want to give up something they're trying to get from I did have someone to ask me about uh like security when you are out as an NFL player and I went to the club with a couple of my teammates when I was with New York Jets and sometimes they would hire this um but I don't know how much pay what it cost or whatever I didn't pay for it so I do know that the NFL they they the teams they they give you these resources it might have been free he might have paid but they picked this up in one of those like um not a club van but uh what it called party van type thing party bus spinner van yeah like a spinner type thing and you know we we got to the club and before we even got out the security got out he walked through made sure everything was good and then had us go in now again but but there's also there were several times where we just go to the mall and there might be a couple of us and we don't have a big security guard you know with us so you that that part is tough because you're just but what it really comes down to is a five year contract that kind of erases the fifth year option year that the forty nine has already had for brand and i u in the twenty twenty four seasons so it's twenty twenty four plus four more seasons so that takes you through twenty five twenty six twenty seven in the twenty twenty eight seasons and then there's also two void years by the way on top of it just to kind of help that accelerated bonus in twenty twenty nine and twenty thirty to uh keep those cap numbers low so here are the cap hits for brand and i u over the next five years this year the cap hit goes down from what was gonna be the fourteen point one guaranteed fifth year option money uh that is now a five point seven million dollar cap hit next year it's an eleven million dollar cap the forty nineers helps i you feel like you got his thirty million dollar per year extension but also helps the forty nineers uh not pay that thirty million dollars per year but they start a little bit early with paying a lot of money upfront so uh i like the deal the way it's structured i really feel like it's it's a win-win when you really look at how this thing is put together you know adler chevney reported that this is the same exact deal that has been on the table for several weeks now but i saw brand i use agent or quote tweet that and basically said mmm no no no it's not the same so uh i'm not sure about that part you know who's kind of telling a tall tale is shan is uh shan hen is adam chevter speaking for the forty nineers to kind of make it look like hey we're not the bad guys we had this on the table for a long time and uh you know i use agent he's not having that either way it is awesome to hear that they got it done we were live uh when the news broke and i couldn't be more excited people take still shots of it because again felt the vibes go up as far as the pockets pockets are definitely going up as well how much did you say that signing bonus was uh let me see here we got um i don't have the exact sign bonus figure with me here but i believe the number was forty six million by april so his base salary plus signing bonus this year plus roster bonus in april brings him to about forty something million dollars not too shabby not too shabby um you know those are the things that get this thing done right structure so what forty nineers trying to do it to where a lot of it benefited them you talked about some of the void years at the end and some of the escalated amount of money on the books for him towards the end of the contract but it sounds like in the end the way they kind of locked it in it was something that ended up like you said working for both people uh both the player and the organization okay here we go i got the uh so the signing bonus is twenty three million dollars and then the um then there's the twenty million dollar let's see yeah twenty three million plus base salary plus the twenty million dollar uh bonus option bonus for uh twenty twenty five and that's where you get the forty five million guaranteed in the first two years gotcha and once it's fully guaranteed did i have that because i mean obviously that's fully guaranteed so the full guaranteed is forty five and then there's more roster bonuses coming uh in year three of the deal as well but most of the guarantees are early in this contract so the forty nineers could start to get out of this they really wanted to in twenty six and they could really get out of it before the last two years of it in twenty twenty seven and twenty twenty eight and so essentially it could it could become a three year twenty five million dollar contract if the four years wanted to do that but i have a feeling four and i was going to feel fine about the you know the twenty nine million dollar base salary in twenty twenty eight for britain and i you who is who is who is in age 30 season at that point so they're they're signing him through his prime so i love this deal especially with the the direction that wide receiver money is going right now you know we're hearing about this you know coming together and this money but what does that leave for tramp wings because right now everything that's being reported is that they may not be close and he is 100 percent willing to miss games and we know he's not bluffing with that this is a guy that prior to being traded for the not to the nineers he sat out a season said look i don't feel safe i don't care about this team the money whatever i i i've been paid i am willing to sit out and he missed an entire season with the washing the commanders gets traded with the nineers obviously ends up cashing in on a big payday but now he's like look i need to re-up this i would like to be one of if not the highest paid tackle in the league i need some guarantees and things moved around do you think the four nineers are going to kind of play uh cat mouse with them or do you think they'll be like you know what let's make sure we got the i-x situation finished let's get uh you know this big the big uh silver back in here and get this done as well so we can really feel good about week one money night football New York Jets yeah they they really created more space in the short term uh and i think the four nineers have done this multiple seasons in a row and i remember last year this time right before the season eric arm said couple other guys restructured and was like oh when they're getting ready for it they're gonna make a big move it's like no they're just trying to they want to roll up roll over as much money as possible they want to turn you know if they want to give let's say they have an excess of 50 million dollars in cap space right now they can roll that cap space over in the next year and turn a 250 million dollar salary cap into a 300 million dollar salary cap for themselves to be able to fit in contracts like BA and Bosa and all these other contracts that are that are growing for themselves in the future and so um i think the way that this contract looks um they've kept the base salary low they drop the cap space that they're spending the cap number on i u dropped almost 10 million dollars from 14.1 or whatever that salary was to 5 million 5.7 million this year next year his cap number is still only 11.1 million because that uh 20 million dollar signing bonus i talked about last year that's also prorated through the rest of the the contract so he's got signing bonus and option bonuses prorated throughout his contract so the um the uh the numbers are low for the next couple of years and then start to grow quite a bit in uh at least as far as cap numbers go in 2026 especially though in 2027 and so i think this is structured in a way purposely to where through 2026 they're trying to get through the rest of these contracts they're trying to get through the the kittle the christian McCaffrey the Trent Williams contract before a number of these other contracts really start to hit like the i u contract now in 2027 i will see with debo and but you know in 2027 basically now you have i uke whatever purities contract is in bosa and that's it and so i think that's why it's structured this way it's going to hit the cap much later for the 49ers and uh they're doing what they can to try to create some space and i don't know what the details are on the Trent Williams deal but they can fit it in i think they're just haggling and so i don't know how close they are on that uh we he might have to lose miss some games we'll see how that goes uh don't love the idea of going in the season without Trent Williams but to be honest crock like an offensive tackle can he go out there and play 70 snaps this week i think it's harder for i think it's harder for Trent Williams to come back than it has been for i uke this year or vosa last year because wider severs and defensive ends can rotate in and out you don't rotate offensive tackles Trent Williams is gonna walk in without any camp any preseason be like cool i'm just gonna play all game money night football like nothing i mean he's a he's a special talent but man that's asking a lot for an offensive alignment we might see the first ever left tackle rotation in NFL history on Monday night i think you 100% have to do something to kind of ease them into that i don't think you just say all right playing new year jets my life football you're gonna go out there and play 70 snaps and if you do you know what i wouldn't be surprised if he does because Trent Williams clearly has shown you guys i'm different but there are professionals on the other side yeah would you rather have tired Trent in the fourth quarter or fresh Jalen Moore in the fourth quarter i probably still pick tired Trent but i wanted to hurt you they're probably the bigger thing right and and that's something that's more liable i think anybody that's in uh you know health and fitness they'll tell you you know going from zero to a hundred even for bread and i you know that's something to keep an eye on but again you can manage the snaps you could say all right we're going to keep them on the snap count week one you got 30 snaps right he's gonna run routes 30 30 times maybe have maybe some of those are run plays so you know he might only run 20 routes uh in the game and you're good with that you can kind of save them from yourself but Trent you can't it's all right you're out there every snap potentially unless you give them the expensive buffer treatment we'll find out no doubt we'll have more reports on Trent Williams as this week goes on crock we're here we made it it's game week for the 2024 NFL season got an extra data weight for that 49ers game to cap off week one on Monday night
