The Illinois football team now 2-0, getting ready for Central Michigan, 11 a.m. on Saturday morning for a homecoming in Champaign at Historic Memorial Stadium. Kaleo Valentine, the freshman running back, was huge down the stretch for the Alina in their win over Kansas, had a couple of big first downs late, and the running back coach, he's also the assistant coach, Stad Ward, talked about Kaleo Valentine. Just practice, you know, had a great practice last week. He was ready for the moment. The communication we were talking about on the sideline, him staying into the game, was communicating about what was going on during the game. I thought he was seeing the game well in his body language and his approach. I thought it was really good, and so he earned the right to play, and so that was just the moment he got a chance to go into play. We talked about just trying to get first downs and one play at a time, and like he shown us that, right? He got it as poised, and no moments too big for me showing that in practice. He had a really good practice last week, so it was just his opportunity to go out there and play, and I thought he did a pretty good job. Again, the Alonai in Central Michigan coming up 11 a.m. on Saturday. Alonai soccer at home tonight. They'll take on Minnesota here in Champaign at 7 p.m. this evening. Meanwhile, volleyball will be on the road in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They face Dayton tomorrow at 1 p.m., and then they play the host Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and Chris Thomas' team now 6-0 on the season after a sweep of some matches up in Ames, Iowa against Toledo, Iowa State, and Wake Forest.
