Tonight's game is brought to you by-- Scotty's Restaurant, Taylor's Automotive. The Randall County Solid Waste Authority. Advanced hearing solutions, Glott Felty Tire Center. Partners out there were power equipment. Mountain State Structures, Mountaineer Home Care. Mountain Valley Bank, Liggett Supply. Performance Chevrolet, Elkins Builders Supply. Blayton Homes of Elkins and Sonny's Carpings. And with all the action, Demmanuel Smith and Jim Triplett. And welcome to Elkins Hospital football, where we're having technical difficulties, along with traffic problems. Jim Triplett and Demmanuel Smith here at Liberty High School. And Liberty has the ball on their first possession. And they face a fourth down and sixth. And the ball right across the 41-yard line. And 72 on the punt. And here's the snap. It's a good snap. And here is the punt. Little line driver. And it's going to be fielded. And ran out about immediately with the football. Is Elkins, and it's going to be first and 10 Elkins from their own 30-yard line. Or Liberty, I'm sorry. First and 10 Liberty from their own 30-yard line. So Liberty, Elkins went for and out. And now Liberty has the ball for the first time. And they moved from our left to right. No score here early in the game. And again, we apologize. We've had a few difficulties. But hopefully that we can just bring it to you. Elkins with the football. The right hash mark. And they're going to spot it right at the 30-yard line first and 10. Trips to the left for the Tigers. Long count by Sourwine. And quarterback Kiefer, he's going to go to the right side. And he's going to get a first down and more. As the tackle is going to be made, it looked like at the 40-yard line. It's a nice run for Elkins on their first play. So Elkins, first and 10. And the ball is right over the 40 to about the 42-yard line at the right hash mark. And Elkins will bring Trips to the left. And here comes the count. And here's a little swing pass. Nothing there. It's caught but immediately tackled on the play. Good reception there. I think it was Fortney that caught it. And he's going to be hit for a 2-yard loss. So it's going to bring up second down and 10 for Elkins. Elkins Tigers. New season, new coach. And they're wanting new results to wait and see how this pans out. OK, second down and 12 for the Tigers. And Sourwine, back at quarterback. He has doubles receivers on both ways. He's back to pass. And here is the pass. And it is caught and knocked down short of the 50-yard line. So it looks like it's going to be a gain of about eight. And that's going to bring up third and three. Third and three, the ball at the 49-yard line. For the Tigers, they move from right to left. Eight, 13 to play, quarter number one. The ball right in the middle of the football field. Third. And we'll call it about three. It's a long three, Irish. Long two, short three. OK, Elkins. And here is the give to Bowers. He's breaking tackle. And his progress is going to get him enough for the first down. He's hit hard right after he crosses looks like he crossed the first down. We'll see where they spot it. They're going to call Tom and maybe measure or what? Nope, they did not give it to him. So it's going to be fourth down and inches. Now, they're discussing this. I don't know. It looked like he may have had forward progress. But of course, we're way up here and we can't see what's going on. But we'll give it our best shot. Here come the chain gang. Is there going to come out and measure to see how far or how close this is going to be to a first down? OK, the sticks are being stretched and it's first down Tigers. And they're inside Liberty territory at the 48-yard line. OK, long start. OK, actually it's Liberty who gets the first down. OK, Liberty inside Elkins territory. Sorry about that. I was going with the orange uniforms. Big mistake on my part. OK, Liberty with the football. First to 10. And Heflin, the quarterback. As they run the stick eye, trips to the left. Heflin back and he's going to keep it. And Heflin breaking tackles as he's up over the 45 to about the 44-yard line at the right hash mark. So that's going to bring up second down. So pretty nice pickup there for the quarterback on the first play. So second down and six for the Mountaineers. Four-yard game, 6.55 to play. Quarter number one, no score. Here between Elkins and Liberty High. And of course this is Liberty's home opener and last opener for them as they're going to be consolidating next year with RCB. OK, Heflin. And here is the give and that's to the big boy. And he is going to be nailed and it looks like he may have lost the yard on that. So Elkins back in there to stopping, scoot over. So a loss of one on the play. So that's going to bring up third down and six. The ball at the 45-yard line, right hash mark. He's moving from right to left. Jim Triplett and Emmanuel Smith. Bringing you Elkins Tiger football and of course Alan Cobourly back at the stadium or back at the station for us. OK, here they go. They're going to go for it. I think they're going to look like they're going to try to run it. Third down and six. Nope, he's moving to his left. Oh, a little slipper to the right. And that worked out perfect as he was moving to his left and the flanker went out and he gets the ball clear into the 30. 35-30 and finally knocked down at the 29-yard line. First down. First and 10 Liberty. They had everybody going to the left. And then Hestland was able to hit that little screen there on the right and everybody bit left. 5-19 to play, opening quarter, no score. First and 10 at the Elkins 28-yard line. Liberty Mountaineers. And they show the stick-eye first and 10. And here is the give. And on the left side, running hard is their big boy. And that's Landen Clevenger, 5-11-185. And he's able to drag tacklers with him for a five-yard pickup. So that's going to bring up second and five. The ball at the Elkins 24-yard line. Clock turns. Four minutes and 43 seconds to play in the first quarter, no score. Liberty up over the football. And again, they're showing that stick-eye. Hestland up over center. And here is the give. To the tailback. And he's going to be running out of bounds. And running with the ball is putting the heel here. And people wanted a late flag, but that did not happen. As he is going to be running out of bounds at the 19-yard line. It looks like. We'll see where they spot it. And they do. They spotted the Elkins 19-yard line on the left hash. And that's going to bring up third down and short. Third and one for the Mountaineers. And Liberty taking their time in the huddle. They want to get this play the way they want it to be. Clock down to 358, quarter number one. Left hash 19-yard line moving right to left. And of course they're on the Elkins 19. And here's the stick-eye again. Hestland up over center. Whoops. And there's movement. The fans are saying it looks like Elkins jumped off sides. We'll see it. Sure look like it. And here's the call. Yes. Off sides on the Tigers. So that's going to put the ball at the 14-yard line. Where it's going to be first and 10. Wow. First down and 10 from the 14-yard line of Elkins. Ball on the left hash. Just under four minutes to play in the opening quarter. No score. Again the stick-eye. They're not going to do anything special. Except give it to Clevenger. Here's the big boy. He's dragging people with him and he's close to the five-yard line. Man, what a monster that dude is. And he picked up. They're going to spot it at the seven-yard line. So that's going to bring up second down and about three. Three minutes and 35 seconds to play opening quarter. No score. Liberty. Hey, Hefflin. Gets them out. And again the stick-eye formation. Hefflin. And he's just going to follow Clevenger. But guess what? He gets hit hard. So Elkins is able to hit him hard. And let's see where they spot it. And they're going to put it over makes the stop for Elkins. And they're going to put it just outside the five-yard line. So it's going to be a third down and two. Clock turns 256 to play. First quarter. And man, the sunlight is right in our face here in the press box. OK, third down for the mountaineers, third and two. Just outside the five. And they wondered, OK, they didn't get the play clock started. So now they've got it going. And here's the give. And right into the gut. And touchdown. Touchdown Liberty. Wow. They just, everybody I think thought that Clevenger was going to get the ball. But he did not get it. And so they give it up to Hilliard and he scores. No, wait a minute. They said he did not. I'm not so sure what happened. OK, but it's going to be first in goal. No, it is a touchdown. And if then we've got to calm out. So Liberty is going to call a top out. And with a break in the action, we'll pause here on 98 9 WDD. Day to day driving around here between potholes and road construction can be rough on your car or truck. Okay, Liberty making their way back onto the field, waiting on the Tigers. And Coach Ware has this group ready and here they come. And again, first quarter for two minutes and twenty five seconds to play here in the opening quarter. And I'm going to try for the extra point. And that's Heflin who does a lot of the kicking. And here comes the snap. It's good and here comes the kick and it's blocked. And so extra point. No good. So six nothing Liberty and we'll be back after these messages on 98 9W dating. Call 681-298-5040. Joe Danger. We day mornings from 6 to 9, a 98-9 WDME. And welcome back to Liberty High School as they draw first blood with 225 to play in the first quarter. And the extra point was blocked, but they were able to get a touchdown run in to make it 6-0. So Liberty will kick off to the Oakland Tigers from right to left. And again, Bethlehem will do the kicking. And here comes the kick and it's a squibber and it's going to be picked up back at the 18 yard line. And up over the 20, 25, 30 and close to the 35 yard line. So the Tigers will start off with decent field position. So we'll see what can happen here. And again, we like to thank, you know, some of our sponsors advanced hearing solution, Glottfeldi Tire, Mountain State Structures, Taylor's Automotive, and of course, Scotty's of Elkins. Got to love all these sponsors. So Elkins first and 10 at the 34 yard line. And the Tigers. Let's see how they line up here. Of course they run the wing. The jet sweep and sour wine up over center. And here is the toss back. And it looks like it's going to go for a gain of about 4 and bowers on the carry. So that's going to bring up a second down and 6 for the Tigers as the ball is going to be placed on the 38 yard line. Excuse me of Elkins. So second down. Elkins, perfects away from the huddle. And again, it looks like they are set up for the jet sweep. The wing is on the left. And here is the give right up the gut. That's Bowers again, and Bowers hit hard at the line of scrimmage, but he's able to make a 40 yard gain out of that as he bounces off the tacklers. And that's going to bring up a third down and 2 for Elkins, the ball at the 42 yard line on the left hash. 152 to play, opening quarter, 6-0 Liberty. And again, thanks again to our sponsors. And I'd like to say hey to Ligot Supply and Mill Creek, Mountain Valley Bank, Mountain Home Health Care, Randolph Cali, Solid Waste Authority. Okay, Elkins third and 2. The ball at the left hash mark right at the 42 yard line moving from our left to right. And here's the count. And here comes Bowers, Bowers breaking tackles as he gets over midfield. And he's going to be knocked down at the 45 yard line. Wow, so Bowers, nice run. And Davis making the stop, so Bowers inside the 45 to about the 44. One minute, 14 seconds to play. Here in the first quarter, 6-0 your score. Liberty with the lead. Okay, Tigers run up to the ball and let's see what happens here. Sarawine up over center. And he fakes. Now he gives it up and running with the ball, it's Kyle Reed. And Reed will pick up some positive yardage. Or Fortney, excuse me, Fortney on the carry. Okay, so Dylan Fortney as he gets the ball over to the 37 yard line where it's going to bring up second down and four. So Fortney on the carry, soft down to 24 seconds. Tigers get up over the football. Sarawine up over center. And here is the pitch in the backfield, the Bowers, Bowers looking to break tackles. He's dragging people with him and he does get positive yardage as they're going to spot the ball right around the 32 yard line. And it looks like it's going to be enough for a first down. So the right hash mark at the 32. And yes, they're going to say go ahead and move the chains, guys. So Elkins picks up the first down. And that's going to end the first quarter with Liberty 6. Elkins nothing back with second quarter action after these messages on 98-9 WDD. This past July the CBS News program Money Watch ranked the top states to retiring. Guess who came in first? Welcome back to Liberty High School. The Tigers have the ball and their inside of Liberty territory as the ball is going to be spotted on the 32 yard line where it's 1st and 10 for Elkins. And here is the handoff and Bowers dragging people with him. He's up over the 25-20 and he's going to be brought down. It looks like at the 19 yard line. So another nice run by Bowers. As Bowers finds room on that left side. Okay, so that's going to bring up 1st and 10 Elkins. As the ball is going to be spotted on the 19 yard line, 11-42 to play. Quarter number two, Elkins moves from right to left in the ball right in the middle of the field, sitting on the 19 yard line. And the Tigers looking to answer back because with 2-25 to play in the 1st quarter, Hillyard scored from 5 yards out to give Liberty lead and an extra point was blocked. Okay, and here is the give to Elkins and that's Phillips and does he make it in? Touchdown Elkins. Wow. Beautiful run off the right hand side that time as Caden Phillips scores. And that comes with 11-11. 11-11 to play, 2nd quarter. Nice run. Okay, the extra point. Elkins will look like they're going to line up to try to kick it in and we can see what happens here. As the edge low, he is going to attempt the extra point. Here's a snap, it's a good one. And guess what, this one's blocked. So 6-6, your score. And here is the kick and it's a squibber and the ball's going to be down inside the 20, where it's going to be 1st and 10, for the Liberty Mountaineers. Jim Triplett, Emmanuel Smith, finally. Hello, everybody. How are we doing this evening? Glad to join you here in the second quarter of the opening night. It's a funny night lights game for the Tigers. It's hard for the difficulties, but I think we're back in Rowan now. Okay. Okay, Liberty with the football. And they move from left to right and they're on the left hash mark of the 19 yard line. We're all tied up at 6.6 here in the second quarter here at Liberty Harrison High School, Mountaineer Field. And Liberty, of course, they'll come out with that thick eye as usual. Okay, here's the snap and quarterback rolling to his right. He's going to keep it and Elkins almost runs him down and finally they do. And a beautiful tackle there by Caden Phillips. And I'm not even sure if Efland got back to the line of scrimmage. I don't think you did. That was great pursuit. Number one by Aiden Lambert, I believe it was. Yeah, he had him struggling down the line and Caden Phillips coming up from that DB spot finished it off. That's a great defensive tackle for the Tigers. Loss of two, that's going to bring up second and 12, 10-40 to play quarter number two. And if you joined us late, Hilliard scored from five yards out with 225 to play in the first. And then Phillips scored for Elkins with 11-11 to play as it's second down now in 12 for the Mountaineers. Efland barking out the orders and going to see a flag on the play. It looks like it was an illegal shift that we'll see. At least it looked like it from up here, but, you know, we're not umpires. We just go along with them and that's exactly what it was. Not during the party, just in time to say. Yeah, Andre, Andre. On the fee. Yes, sir. Okay, the ball clear back to the 12-yard line now. And finally, that sun goes behind the clouds. Well, finally, we go in the air. And finally, we're on the air. I'm over here freaking out. I'm about to have a heart attack. All right, second down at the 12-yard line and 17 yards to go for the first. Efland back to pass and it's way behind the receiver, way behind the receiver. So that's going to bring up a third down and Chris C there on the coverage. So third down and long now for Liberty. And, you know, this could be momentum if Elkins can stop them here and make them fun. Well, the momentum is on the tiger's side right now. They have Liberty pin deep in their own territory coming off that scoring drive. Yes. Big position for Liberty team. It's not a net in the third football. Third and 17. Four Liberty. The ball is on their own 12-yard line. They move from left to right. Efland. Up over center. Okay, long counts. And this time they run a reverse and nice run. He gets to the 15 and he's going to be dropped away short to the first down. I actually thought he was going to get away there, Dave. Each drive they went to quick. Here you go. He did not. Elkins got him. Good pursuit by the tigers, especially on the outside. The cornerbacks are containing the outside as well as the line. That was when Stanley didn't initially had pursuit in the backfield. That's going to bring up a fourth down and I'm not sure if a Liberty player was hurt or what, but he came off the field quickly and it's going to bring up a fourth down. 954 to play in the first half. Liberty six. Elkins six. And the ball is at the 16-yard line. Are we shaking? Is there a quick up here out there about? I don't know. I mean the way this game started for us. I would be surprised with the whole thing collapsed right now. That's going to bring up, Dave's going to bring up what? Fourth down and about 14, right? Yes, sir. Fourth and 14. Fourth and Liberty? Yes, sir. Fourth and Liberty. I'll tell you what, a long time here. The play clock hasn't even started yet. I'm not sure. Now they're starting to play clock. It might have been an official timeout for the injury. Yes, that's true. All right. Fourth down and it looks like Bowers backed deep for the tigers. And heptlyn backed the punter away. Oh, and Elkins jumps off size. Laundry. Laundry. Dirty Laundry, but luckily for Elkins, you know, it was a fourth and 14. So that's still going to move it up five yards. That's going to put the ball in the 21-yard line at the left hash. This is like a hurry thing. Again, Liberty's not in there to pass the football. Right. So this is still a very, very long distance for them to try to convert this, especially deep in their own territory. Okay. Heptlyn backed the pun again. Again, a long count. And here's the snap. It's good. And here it comes. Bowers is going to pick it up at the 43. Bowers. Breaking tackle at the 45. Bowers at midfield still going. Bowers at the 45. And he's finally going to be knocked down at about the 42-yard line. So nice return there by Bowers. How can you? It was a great return, but there's a whole lot of laundry on the far side. I think they're going to call. It's not one two-block at the backs against Tigers at the Nassau anyway. There might have been three. Well, we'll see. I'm betting the paycheck on this one. Oh, we'll see. As they confer, they don't do it very long. You got it? No, I'm not doubting you. No way. Not on this one. I mean, the one was obvious. You said you might have seen two. Well. I was hoping they wouldn't see either one of them. The thing was, they didn't call the first one, which was blatant. The second one was kind of in a mass of humanity over there. Okay, that's going to take the ball back to the 41-yard line of Elkins. 42 on the right hash mark where it's going to be first in 10 Tigers. So Elkins, you know, hey, Elkins is looking pretty good. Well, you know what, we'll get into it a little bit, but there's a lot of first game of motion going on right now. Oh, yeah, all right, and here's to give the bowers right up the middle. Bowers taking people with him still on his feet, and he gets the first down if there's no longer. And the ball's going to be spotted at the 46-yard line of Liberty. And one K with a big 14-yard burst up the middle. Mm-hmm. Wow. Clock running nine minutes and 39 seconds to play quarter number two. Six, six, yours, four. Here from Liberty. And Elkins trying to keep that momentum. They have some right now, and we'll see what happens. Okay, sour wine. The quarterback. Elkins with the wing. And the wing moves to the right side, and here is the give. And again, it's bowers and bowers close to the 40-yard line. Again, positive yardage for Elkins. Well, I like where coach Ware has bowers in the back, so he's up tight. Here's the line of scrimmage. And with his speed, since he gets the handoff, it's a quick burst. And if you don't catch him at the line, look out. So he picks up six on that one day. Ball at the 41-yard line, moving from right to left, right hash mark. And Elkins with it, second down and four. With eight minutes and 44 seconds left in the first half. They give it up to 40. Look at 40 go. 40 at the 35-30, 25. And 20 and knocked down at the 19-yard line. Oh, man. That new offense, the Chad Ware brings that one. It's new now, but it's an old new. Yeah, it is. You know, that wing T jet series looks. You know, and it's a lot of misdirection and a lot of moving parts. And Liberty's defense is a little confused right now. And the ball's clear up to the 19-yard line of Liberty. Eight and a half minutes to play, first half. Six, six, your score. Elkins with the ball, left hash mark on the 19-yard line of Liberty. You're getting big chunks, D. Well, how about feeders to the line with the ball? Oh, my goodness. Yeah. Don't forget the big fellas. Never. Okay, Elkins with the ball, and we have whistles. Guess what? Oh. Oh, great. To lay a game, Elkins. Mm-hmm. I wasn't paying attention until the whistle blew, and I looked up at play clock, and it was expired. Well, either with the Open's offense or else they would have had a delay a game. Yeah. It's your fault. Okay, the ball goes back to the 24-yard line, where it's going to bring up a first and 15. When C. Miller goes wild out to the right. Man in motion. They give it to Bowers up the middle. Bowers breaking tackles. Still on his feet inside the 15. And nice pick up there for Bowers, as he marches it to the 14-yard line. Mickey B is running hard. Yes he is. So now it's third and very doable for Elkins. A nice little 10-yard game. Yeah. Excuse me. It's actually second because we had that delay a game. And inside the redstone. How many times did we say Elkins off? Oh, I didn't. Inside the redstone last time. Not many. Eight minutes to go. Second quarter, Elkins and Liberty tied. That's six. And here's the snap. And with the football, it looks like it's Cade and Phillips again, and it's equal in for a touchdown. Wow. You know what's special about that? What numbers do you wear? I'll just say it. You're just saying. It's all about that 12, baby. That's Cade and Phillips with his second touchdown of the night. And that comes with 7.45 to play here in the second quarter. What a future I'd wear. That's a great start to your first half in a new era. Oh, yeah. That's what you want to see. You know this offense is going to produce a lot of yards on the ground. It's just kind of big boys up front and get it done. Okay. Here's the snap. Lucas D'Angelo with the extra point and it is good. So with 7.45 to play, first half, Elkins on top of Liberty 13.6. Back after these messages on 98, 9.W.D. and E. This is Randolph County Sheriff for Auburn reminding you to be safe on your way home from the game tonight. Let's go Tigers. And welcome back to Liberty High School where Elkins leave 13-6 with 7-45 to play in the first half. And Elkins has that momentum, not only on offense, but their defense is really stepping up too. Everything as we talked about it, I heard you talk about it in the free game while I was over here doing what I was trying to do. There's a lot of emotions tonight. The first time they had an assistant coach pass away last spring, which was Ryan Lance, then you turn around and, like you said, this is the last year of their existence. They're going to give everything they have for 10 games, plus if they can make the playoffs. And then on the other side, you've got a new heir with Elkins, Coach Chad Ware, who just lost his father, who was an integral part of his life in the community, plus just a whole new atmosphere and a new look and everything else. And it's a matter of containing your emotions within your emotions. Right. And right now, Elkins is doing a great job of that on offense and defense. And the thing is, they're executing with the emotions. So that's a very positive thing if you're a coach on that Tiger Star. Mm-hmm. Okay, Tigers to kick off from right to left to the Mountaineers. And here comes the kick and it's a nice kick. Is this whoever? Look at this. It's going to go clear back into the end zone, D. Ninja Turtle, Lucas. The end alone. Last month, I was showing off suck skills. That's right. To the back of the end zone. It dribbled, but it got there. Yes, it did. That's all it matters. Got to love it. I mean, these guys work hard and, you know, you've got everybody, you know, different coaches working with different areas and it just seems to all be molding in, you know, for all kids right now. Well, you see a lot of positivity. I mean, you know, it's a lot of familiar faces on that coaching staff. You've got some new guys on the Christian staff like Tommy Lupus. It's just a ball of energy at all times. And that feeds off to your team. You know, and the culture's changed. I mean, you know, I mean, we're only in the first half, but you can see there's a huge difference from the kids, the bounce, you know, and right now it's paying off. Okay, first and 10 Liberty, they move from left to right at the 20 yard line, as they got tokens, gets the touch back and back to fast the ball. Look at this. Oh, what a catch. Give it to them. Yes, they did. That's you, right? Nope. No, the other one's saying no. Wow. It looks good from here. No, a scoon over. What a dive for that. Well, I'll tell you what. And they're talking about it. He caught the ball. The ball didn't come out of this position until after he hit the ground. Okay. And they are the one officials said, yes, it's a catch. The other one said, nope. You know, the other one probably had a better angle on it. Yeah, that's going to be one of the interesting thing about high school football is how do they, you know, what do they determine as a catch? Because, you know, that's a big question in college in the pros. Yeah. But from here, it looked like he had possession all the way to the ground. And as he hit the ground, it's from the ball. Yeah. Okay. Second and 10 from the 20 yard line, 737 to play. First half, 13 six Elkins with the lead over Liberty. That's one up over center. And Clevenger gets it here. Look at this big guy. He can take some people with him. And that's exactly what he's doing. We've got an injury. On the field. And Clevenger, where do you get the ball to? First down? He did get it first down. I think he's a little short. They moved this. They're moving the game. So, and now they're going to bring the hurt player out, which is good. It looks like a cramp. And that's scoon over. That could hurt them. Big time. Seven minutes, 13 seconds to play. First half. And Liberty with the ball with their own 30 yard line ball right in the middle of the field, moving from left to right. 707 to play. Elkins up. 13 six. First and 10. Liberty. And here is the give. Look at this. And running hard up over the 40. So, about the 43 yard line. And that was. Who was that? Here you go. He's a little scat back. Yes, he is. Very quick. He's losing when he gets in that pile. So, they're going small, but he's so fast. At the same time, it's shifty. So, the ball first and 10 now at the 41. So, Liberty picking up a little bit of momentum now. First and 10. From the 41. Six minutes, 45 seconds to play. Second quarter. I shouldn't see if his heat has a factor. It's still hot. Oh, it's affected me. I can tell you that. Yeah, I'm dripping. I am too. Okay. The stick. Here's Teflon. Takes it to the big guy. He's going back to pass. He's got a man open. And it is incomplete. In complete. And some of the coaches wanting an interference. I'm not so sure that they weren't right because. The yoken's defenders never turn and look for the ball. They were face guarding the receiver. The receiver came back for the ball. It was a little bit of contact, but I don't think there was enough to call pass interference. I might have a really good call on the refs part. Yeah. And the other thing too was a catchable. Six twenty six to play. Second quarter. Thirteen six. Elkins. Liberty. First or second down to 10. From their own 41 yard line. And here is the give. And the little guy again gets this and he's not going to go anywhere this time. Old guy. I'm at the big guy. The big old number 72. Oh, it's famous. Oh, yeah. Families like wait a minute. Guess what? Don't tell me laundry. Laundry, baby. Okay. Laundry down. And let's see what happens here. They're talking it over. All right. Here comes the call. Oh, personal foul on Elkins. So after the run, the run's going to be a one yard gain. One plus 15. One plus 15. And that's going to take the ball into Elkins territory. With six sixteen to play in the first half. And the ball now will be spotted at the 43 yard line of Elkins. Right in the middle of the field. Those are the things you definitely do not want to carry over the last six. Okay, again the stick. As hefflin goes back up over center. And here is the give. And running with the football and knocked down right around the 35 yard line. Was that scoon over? No, it was Hillyard again. Hillyard again, man. Okay, so Hillyard. Getting his carry. And they're going to spot the ball at the 41 yard. Excuse me, the 36 yard line. Five forty-two to play. Clock turns in the first half. Thirteen six Elkins. And it'll be second and fourth for Liberty. He's a little guy, but he's going to be the feature back. And he's afraid to pound her up. No, he's not. Okay, this time it's Clevenger. And he is dragging people with him. It looks like he's going to get it first though. And let's see, did they give him the first? I think he's right at the stick. Yeah, he might call for a first call. They call, yeah. Very close. So they are going to call for a measurement. Five seventeen to play. First half. Elkins and Liberty in a great ball game. Elkins leading thirteen six. We figured it was going to be a good one. Oh, yeah. Okay, chain gang comes. That's the sound of the man. Yeah. And let's see. They stretch it out. It's going to be very close. One way or the other. And he did not make it. It's just inches short. So that's going to bring a third down and about a half yard. Third down in Clevenger. Because you know, thirty twos get the ball right here. That's a third in Clevenger. Probably so. I mean, this dude is five eleven one hundred and eighty five pounds. It looks bigger. He looks bigger. He does. He's about two forty. He's just, he's built like a brick. Yeah. He is. That's for sure. Okay. Five seventeen to play. First half. Thirteen six. Elkins with the lead. And Liberty. Did they call a timeout? And I missed it? No, I think they just called a timeout to. Well, okay. Now they're getting them back on the field. Yeah. They do the change. Yeah. And nobody's listening. Nobody's listening. Oh, Lordy. All right. Now they're coming back. Now they're coming back. Thanks to Varners Outdoor Power Equipment. Elkins Builder Center. It's on East Carpet. Wow. We appreciate all you sponsors. Oh, yeah. Thank you. Everything you do. It lives in Scotty's for the churches interview. Glad to have them one of the main sponsors as well. Mm-hmm. Good food too. My goodness. Mm-hmm. This gets great. Mm-hmm. Okay. Clock turns. Five fourteen. Third and very short. And the quarterback teaches it. And... A little bit cool. No. Not at all. So it's going to be a first down. Okay. First down. And they're going to spot the ball at the Elkins. Is it twenty nine yard line? Right. So it's twenty nine yard line. Okay. Twenty nine yard line. First and ten Liberty. Five oh three to play first half. What a game. Well, and this is Liberty football too. They just want to pound the rock. They want to average about three and a half yards for play. Keep moving the chains and try to wear that Tiger defense out. Right now it's working. It is. Yeah. All right. And here is the give to the little guy. Look at him go. He sneaks up and he's close to the twenty yard line. Wow. And that's going to be close to another first down. Well, I mean, there's there's no secret to what they do. They're going to pound the rock off the middle. Between the two and the four and the three and the five. Oh, yeah. Okay. The ball is going to be spotted. Think about nine on the play there. Yeah. Nine on the play. Right on the twenty one. Right on the twenty one. Yep. Left pass. Twenty one moving left to right. Four thirteen to play. First half. Liberty moving the football. Okay. The stick again. This time it's Clevenger. Look at him go. Clevenger inside the fifteen. And he's going to be spotted at about the fourteen. They've got something working over there. Right side. Indeed. So three minutes and fifty nine seconds to play. Quarter number two. Thirteen six. Elkins with the lead, but Liberty knocking at the door in the red zone. And the ball's going to be on the fourteen yard line. Now you're just wondering how thick is that air right now? Because you can kind of see some tigers with their hands on their hips. Mm-hmm. So this drive is definitely taking some. I don't know if this drive is going to work. I think it's going to be one of the fourteen yard lines. No, you're just wondering how thick is that air right now? Because you can kind of see some tigers with their hands on their hips. Mm-hmm. So this drive is definitely taking some. Yeah. Air out of that tiger D. Three thirty-two clock turns. First and ten. And quarterback keeper. Look at this off the left side. And I see some lots of laundry on the field. Yeah. Let's get a hold on the right there. It's looking back. Yeah, it looks like it. It's a nice call, but it just didn't work quite pan out. Well, he definitely had the defensive end by the shoulder pads. Yeah. Did not let go. Okay. Holding is the call. So that's going to back him up 10. And three minutes and twenty seconds left here in quarter number two. Thirteen six. Elkins with the lead. And Liberty driving. But they get that penalty and that hurts him now. It hurts him. But if you're the Tigers, you can't get caught sleeping here because right about now it's when they went up a little tight end pop pass or maybe a little something coming out of the back field as far as the screen. Okay. The balls on the twenty-four yard line. Where it's going to be first and twenty. Liberty with the football. Again, they're lining up with that stick on like D said. Watch for that little pass. And nope. Here is the give. And it looks like Hilliard again. And he gets inside the twenty. So about the eighteen yard line. Two minutes forty-nine seconds. Clock turns. And the ball is on the nineteen yard line. Where it's second and a bunch really. Second and about fifteen. Oh, this type of offense. That's a lot of yarn. Left down to two and a half minutes. And Liberty at the Elkins. Nineteen. Long count. And here is the give on the left side. Hilliard again. Oh, look at this. He might be in the end zone. Hilliard in the end zone. What a run by Clayton Hill. He made a move on Dillon forty. Just left him standing still. Nineteen yard touchdown. Boy, that's something. What a move. Yes, sir. Little guys especially can do stuff like that. Oh, yeah. Yep, Hilliard's telling that for sure. Two eleven left in the first half. Liberty is going for the extra point. Yeah, they're going to go for two. Yeah, they are lined up for two, aren't they? Oh, this will be interesting. Okay, lined up for two. And. Yeah, we shut the clock there. Yep, reset. Again from the stick. Clevenger. And he's not going to make it. He is not going to make it. Wow. Oh, yes, he did. Oh, why did you think he's going to make it? Well, the body did it for us. But I think what he did at the end was a smart play. He struck the ball right across the line. Wow. So, Clevenger with the two point conversion. And that makes the score 1413 Liberty back with the kick after these messages on 98-9 WDD. Welcome back to the Barber County Fair. Glevinger got that two point conversion and now Liberty regaining the lead 14-13 with 2-11 to play in the first half. How about shout out to the night owl? Yes. Night owl. You got that. Big owl. Big owl. Okay. And Liberty will kick it off from left to right. Two minutes and 11 seconds to go here in the first half. Liberty up 14-13 over Elton. Now your coach Shadware, you're in your first game. As the coach first game of the season, how aggressive are you before halftime? Exactly. All right, everybody's ready and here comes the kick. And it's a squibber. And it's going to go out of bounds. They might get some help here. They could very well see what they say here. If they're taking or making them re-kick. I'd almost take the field position. You know what? I think I would too. Well, I think he's going to agree. Okay. So Elkins will take over with 2-11 to play in the second quarter, trailing by just a point. Well, guess what? Are you hot? I'm hot. Listen, I'm pretty sure I've lost five pounds between trying to figure out the equipment and how hot it is. Yeah. But they're going to re-kick it. Oh. Yep. That's been corrected. So as the laundry comes down, I'm going to back it up five yards. And now they'll kick it from the 35. And that's Hestlin who kicks. He does a little bit of everything, huh? Well, he's everywhere. He's on offense. He's on defense. He's on special teams, and that's your quarterback. So, you know, cuters to him, but you also have to worry about keeping him healthy for 3-10 weeks. Mm-hmm. Okay, here comes the kick again. And this will be taken by an upman for the Tigers. And that's Elias Jones. The freshmen. Yep, freshmen. And he gets up over to the 40 yard line, right around the 40. So, yeah, the freshmen. Who does? Good call by coach. We're making a re-kick. Gains five yards out of it. Yes, sir. Okay, so Elkins will take over with 204 to play in the first half. And the ball's going to be spotted at the 41 yard line. That'll make it six yards. So, first and 10, Elkins. Ball at the left hash, Elkins moves from right to left. 204 to play first half. What a game. See what the Tigers do here with two minutes and four seconds to go. Well, I'm sure every team has a two-minute drill. So, we shall see. And this one's going to be easy. We're going to give it to Bowers and let him go. Here comes Bowers, 50, 45, 40, 20 feet, Bowers at the 25, 20, 15, 10. Stop. Touchdown, Elkins. That's what you do with it. Wow. [laughs] Now, about 50 minutes to the 50 in 1k. 50, nine yard, touchdown run. Four Bowers. Man. And that's 152 to play here in the half. Wonder if he's ready for a senior season. No, I do wonder. [laughs] And the Angelo is going to line up the kick-it. It'll come out. Okay. So, with a break in the action, we'll pause on 98, 9, W.D. and 8. And welcome back to Liberty High School, where Nick Bowers just got away, man. I mean, he broke everything, and he went 59 yards for the Tigers to give them the leadback. Well, Liberty brought the house, and I thought it was a slow toss. And I was like, "Uh-oh, he's about to get in the backfield." Nick made one cut to the left, and that one cut was all he needed. He was gone. He offered a race. And, you know, he looks like he's put on a little bit of muscle. You know what? He stays in the weight room. And he can run. My goodness. Can he run? Okay, so Elkins, again, let's see if they're going to go for two or one. I don't see Lucas. I don't see Lucas. Elkins is going to try for two here. We're going to go for two here. No, why not? Take the leadback. Why not? Okay. And Bowers gets it and he is not going to make it. So anyway, Elkins did four. So it's 1914 Tigers, and we'll be back with a kick after these messages on 98, 9, W, D, and 8. All care West Virginia is immediately hiring for several counties. If interested, call 681-298-5050. You're listening to coverage of the Elkins Tigers on 98-9 WTLE, Elkins. And welcome back to Liberty High School. 1914, Elkins with the lead. As Bowers, scores one from 59 yards and a point after no good. Now, what does Liberty do with 152 on the clock? Well, how aggressive are they? Hey, like we just said, everybody has a two-minute drill. Hey, here's the kick, and it's a beauty. It's almost over the head. But with the catch is Davis. Davis at the 20, still on his feet, is going to be knocked down at about the 25-yard line. So 1st and 10 Liberty, 144 to play in the first half as the ball is going to be spotted at their own 25-yard line. That's a big hit by Kyle Reed, too. Yes, sir. That boy is something else. Mm-hmm. So, the Mountaineers, they have a minute 44 to go 75-yard. Now, question. Do the Mountaineers get the dove tomorrow? Do they what? Do the Mountaineers get the window on? Oh, okay. I hope so. That wasn't a question, Jim. We can talk about more half-time on that, okay? Okay, 1st and 10 to the Mountaineers. And again, they don't like to pass, but look at this. In the shotgun. And back to pass the ball. Let's see what happens. Oh, look at this. Oh, but it's Monday. Some ball in the play, and he has a few on the ground. They're still trying to get there. There's three tigers there, and a Mountaineer, but let's see. Oh, was that close to a disaster? Well, Devon Hall was there. I'm surprised that he didn't flatten the ball. Yeah. Okay, a big loss on the play. As the ball's going to be backed up to the, what, 16-17 yard line? Yeah, look like Devon had his big paws on it there for a minute, and they're strong as he is up out for sure. He's going to take their out of it, but somehow it's squirted out. Okay, 2nd down and long. This will call it about 21-12 to play in the 1st half. Not the play you needed if you're listening. No. All right, back to pass again, and this little screen to the left, and it's dropped. Boy, Hillier had all kinds of rehab he caught back to. He had room, and he had a block. He retired, but Tiger defense shifted to the left. They threw it backside, and he caught that. Well, that happened earlier in the 1st quarter. Yeah. Mountaineer, he would have been gone, but it would have been a good chance he would have picked up a whole lot of yarns. Oh, indeed. So now it's going to be 3rd and long, and Liberty with the ball on the left hash mark. At the room, 17 yard line. And 59 seconds to go in the 1st half. Elkins 19, Liberty 14. Remember, Elkins has two time outs. Yep. And the clock stops, so they get this ball back in a decent field position. Yeah. Who knows? And check out the play clock. Down to 2. Oh, it looked like motion, but no. Back to throw the ball. Oh, my, this is just lobbed up, and it's no good. And they want to pass interference, Paul. Yeah. They've got an argument, but it's not going to happen. Yep. They wondered, and you know, it's tough to call things like that, especially when the ball is up that high. Right. It just kind of hung in the air. It just hung. Yeah. The freshman Tony Sylvester had enough time to make a break in the ball and actually did a good job of breaking it up. Not getting this contact, but it's as he's going for the ball. He actually turned and looked. Yeah. And that's why they didn't call it. Hey, 52 seconds remaining, and now Liberty's going to have to punch the ball away. Well, yeah. But now you're giving the Tigers the ball back with just a little under a minute to go. Yeah. And you got N1K back there ready to take the return. So, Nick, get the hands on this one. Who knows? Yep. Like, Liberty's going to take this over. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. Okay. With a break in the action, we'll be back in 32nd for '98, non-WD&E. Now, through September 30th, you can get up to $200 back on select Good Year Tires at Glott Feldy Tire Center in Alkins. It's time to say, with the Good Year Rebate Glott Feldy Tire Center on the Beverly Fine Lane Alkins. Amy Ryan at the At Work Network weekdays, 9-3 on '99 WD&E. And welcome back to Liberty. Man, is it great to be doing sports again? It was to our -- we got here, and I had all kinds of problems trying to get everything connected. But, listen, it's great to be back. You got it now, yeah. I've been waiting for this for months. Yeah. Yeah. I'm excited. Football is here, baby. We got college tomorrow. My little one to get their first game on Sunday, and I'm stoked. We'll talk about that later, but hey, football is back, baby. Football is back. Okay, fourth down and 20, and Alkins will drop -- guess who they're going to drop back? Mr. Bowers, and Bowers stands at his 45-yard line. I'm Liberty. I ain't one this point. Oh, you have. Don't you dare kick that down. Okay. We've got -- we have laundry. Okay. Oh, look at this. Ball start. Uh-oh. And that's what I'm bringing, Nick, one of the Tigers side of the field. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're going to have to angle that ball. That's for sure. Either way, with the belt. Yeah. We have -- there's 52 seconds for the Tigers to work with. Yeah. They're going to have good field position, regardless of what happens here. Mm-hmm. Okay. Here's the snap. It's a good one. And here's the punt. Hey, nice punt. It's high. Wobbly. Wobbly is going to pick it up at the 48. Bowers at the 45. Bowers at the 40. Going fast, 40. 35, 30. Bowers at the 25. 20. Go and execute. Bowers inside the 15. They're right around the 10 yard line. Wow. No, they're in return. Don't kick it to 11. Don't kick it to 11. And 36 seconds on the clock, Elkins with the football, and it could very well be first in goal. Did they spot it on the 10-D? They're right at the 10. Yes, they're right at the 10. So, Elkins, it's 36 seconds to get in there, first and goal from the 10-yard line. Right now, I'm pulling out whatever pass play I have right now because nobody's seen it yet. They've worked on it. Yeah. I booked for a back to sneak out the backfill here, maybe angled towards the corner of the end zone. Well, we'll see. Once he millers out to the left, and Kyle Reed is at the win. Oh! Everybody went. Everybody went. So, there's the penalty. Well, they're lined up in the jet, and I think they're going to try to run a little jet reverse. Yeah. And everybody went. Oh, Lord. But, you know, you expect this stuff in the first game. You do. Well, that's a tricky call. I mean, that jet reverse. Yeah. I mean, especially when, you know, you're live against somebody else now. Yeah. Okay. The ball. Let's see if they're... Okay, 32 seconds left as they pick up their laundry and they talk to the coach. Say, well, my laundry business is booming in the first game. Yeah, it's a booming. Rich. Yes, sir. Okay. So, Alkins will start now first and goal from the 15 yard line. First and goal. Again, 32 seconds left. Then we'll see what happens here. Okay, here comes a long count. Man in motion and that is Hayden Phillips and Phillips is able to get some good yardage. Now, the box goes. The box goes. It did stop it. Yeah. Hayden was trying to get the top effect in the first half. Oh, yeah. He was getting right towards the end zone. Oh, yeah. And that's 17.4 seconds, D. And it's going to be second and goal from where? The 6th. So, you know, with the 19th, looks like they've got him just since... I just outside the 5th, D. I think he does the 6th. Wow. He's 13 yard pick-up and he still got top on the clock. Yeah. And next week, Alkins at home to face Lincoln. So, that's going to be interesting. First home game and, you know, we hope you folks are able to come out and cheer on your Alkins Tiger. It's going to be nuts. We're going to shut down Randolph County next week. Everybody's going to be there. Okay. We're closing schools and everything. We're going to do a Morgan calendar. We're shutting down everything. I don't know if we get Pat McAfee, but... Yeah. Really? We're shutting down all the bounds. Okay. 19 seconds on the clock and Alkins second and goal. Now, did Tiger still have one time out? They do have two time outs, doesn't matter. Are you sure? Well... Because they had to call that one. I thought they had two then. I think you're right, but the scoreboard says two. So, hey... Oh, okay. I'm pretty sure they called that one time out. We should have left them, but wanted... You finished a half. Okay. I'm going to go a little pop pass to the other thing right here. Okay. 19 seconds. We'll see if he's right. Oh, Alkins fumbles her, and Liberty gets it back. Oh! Mercy. I think Nick was shut up to actually take the handoff and throw it a little pass through and I think he was looking down the field before he had the ball, but... 15.6 seconds to play, and the first half, Alkins turns it over on a fumble and Liberty will have the ball first and 10 from their own eight-yard line, and I don't look for anything fancy here. Nope. Let's take it. Yep. Let's just get out of here. Wow. Oh! That could be a huge play. Yes, it could. I'm playing half. Indeed. Mm-mm. Wow. Had a chance to go up two scores against an offensive struggling. Yeah. Back. All right, Liberty. No. Look at this. He's back to pass the ball. It's a little screen and it's going to go for nothing. Well, they tried that same screen pass to Hilliard at Rand that he missed before, but... Yeah, it's all for naught, and the clock stopped at 6.5 seconds. Like a defense actually stayed home and there was nowhere to go. Right. Okay. 6.5, and they're saying start the clock. And that's going to do it as we go to halftime here at Liberty High School where Alkins leads Liberty 19 to 14. Back with our halftime show after these messages gone 98-9, WDD.
