Let's make sure your digital footprint leads to more positivity and growth every step that you take your way. Hi there, welcome to my podcast. Today we are going to chat about something really important. You must have guessed it, how we can manage our screen time to avoid feeling tired or overwhelmed by social media. Let's jump right in. You must be wondering how can I get tired, how can I just feel overwhelmed if I am just watching YouTube videos or inform just on the Instagram. But it does happen, have you ever noticed that when you spend a lot of time on your phone or tablet, you start feeling really tired and maybe even a little bit sad. That often happens, some of my clients come and tell me that they just don't want to go on to Instagram for that week, say I am just feeling very sad and I have also heard complaints from older adults telling me around the holiday season I just don't want to be on the Facebook. I just see all those happy families posting pictures, I don't have a family. I feel very sad and because they have been on the social media site, it has just made them feel very sad. Now this is what we call the social media fatigue. But don't worry, I've got some easy tips to help you feel better. First, it's a great idea to take regular breaks from screens. Imagine sitting a timer for 30 minutes of screen time. When the timer goes off, you can put your device down and take a 10 minute break to do something else. Research says that sitting is like smoking. So it's always a good idea to take a small break after you've been sitting for 30 minutes, whether you're watching a screen or not. During your break, you can do all sorts of fun things. You can draw a picture, you can read a book or you can head outside to play. Fresh air and exercise makes your body and your mind feel great and it also helps you recharge for the next time you use your screen. Another helpful tip is to turn off notifications on your device. You must have been already doing it because those notifications, they really distract you. Make an annoying sound like a ding and they can distract you. So you may want to check your screen all the time because of that noise that is just notifying. You can ask a parent to help you turn them off for your apps because they aren't really important. This way your phone owns beep and bus all the time and you can focus on other fun activities without getting distracted. You can also set screen time limits with the help of your parents. Talk with them about how much time you should spend on social media each day. Now is a good time as you are making plans to return to school. It must be really exciting next week, school is all starting. Maybe you can agree on a certain amount of time like one hour day and then stick to it. Finally, creating a daily schedule can help you balance your screen time with other activities. And I follow this regularly. Lay down the times when you will use your screen and the times when you will do other things like playing or reading. Having a plan makes it easier to enjoy everything you love without feeling tired or overwhelmed. Remember screens are fun, but it's also important to enjoy other activities. When you balance your screen time with other fun activities, you will feel happier and more energetic. So let's recap now. To avoid social media fatigue, firstly you can take regular breaks from screens. Number two, do fun activities during that break like we just spoke about drawing or reading. Number three, turn off unnecessary notifications because they only distract you. Number four, set screen time limits. You can use the help of your parents and lastly, create a daily schedule. By following these tips, you can enjoy your screen time without feeling tired or overwhelmed. Thanks for listening guys and remember to take those steps and have lots of fun. See you all next time, keep smiling and have a great day and there you have it. Your toolkit for mastering the art of living well in a digital world. Remember, it's not about cutting off your connection, but it's about creating a space where you thrive both online and offline. Whether it's setting limits, choosing positive influences or just taking a break to enjoy the world around you, every small step makes a big difference. So keep exploring guys, keep learning and most importantly, keep being the best version of you both on and off the screen. Until next time, stay balanced, stay positive and keep shining bright.
