1953: A tornado struck Michigan, claiming 116 lives and injuring 844 people. With no modern warning systems, the F5 tornado tore through Genesee and Lapeer counties, leaving a 27-mile path of destruction with winds exceeding 200 miles per hour. Despite the tragedy, Beecher, Michigan, received swift assistance from the Flint community and the Red Cross, facilitating its rebuilding process.
