Serving bravely as a spy, medic, and soldier, she infiltrated Confederate lines multiple times. Edmonds' remarkable story of courage and sacrifice was later recognized by Congress, and her autobiography, "Nurse and Spy in the Union Army," continues to honor her legacy.
