Play this song because it's Brad's favorites. Brad Kellner, host on Texas Sports on Filter, the Sports Talk Network, and Austin doing fantastic work out there. Brad, good to talk to you. How are things? JB, JB, I was doing well until I heard the spin doctors. You know, I'm taking time out of my Friday to talk to you guys. And this is how you reward me. Come on. Oh, it was Brian's doing. It was Brian's doing. Tell us about the program that's there in Austin there. Is Texas back, BK? I think they were back after they won the big 12 championship last year, right? I mean, you win a conference. You make it to the college football playoff to me. That's more than enough to qualify as back. But it feels like this 20, 24 teams even better than what Texas brought to the table in 2023. I mean, this feels like a legitimate national championship contender. I think everyone and their mother saw what this Longhorn team did in Ann Arbor last weekend. And obviously, it's a different Michigan team this year than the one we saw when it all in Houston last year. But Texas has just about everything you need to compete for a national championship. So optimism up here is guy high. And I think Longhorn fans have every reason to feel good about their team this year. BK, we know that, you know, they're going to fill the stage. And they're going to be there for their team. But I'm curious the whole the whole manning situation and the fact that everybody thought he might redshirt sit out a year, but it was going to be his team. You were just obviously played very well. But he's content being the number two. And you think he's going to stick it out until he gets the reins? This is the best you guys have ever pronounced for your entire life. So congrats to y'all on finally mastering the English language. But I do, you know, it was kind of an agreed upon deal with the manning family from day one that Arch was willing to wait his turn. And that's still the plan. And I've actually heard from some people that even if Arch has a great year next year, and the belief is that even though coin use can come back for one more season in 2025, I think most people expect coin to go to the NFL following the conclusion of this season. There are some folks that say even if Arch ball is out next year, he might come back for a fourth year to Texas. Like he might not even leave early for the NFL draft, even if you have a chance to be a first round pick in 2026. So obviously, if we're a long ways away from that, that wasn't really the question that you asked. But yes, Arch manning and the manning family perfectly content with waiting their turn. And Texas has a couple of, you know, very end-useum games coming up with UCSD tomorrow and then believes in Adam Monroe next weekend. I think fans who are craving for Arch manning are going to get some opportunities to see him over the next couple of weeks. Brad Kellner, host on Texas Sports on Filter, joining us on the HR&P guest line. You never know what the Meja is going to do when it comes to the Heisman Trophy voting. But what do you think of yours chances? I think you've got a great shot, you know. Texas stays at the top of the rankings and, you know, competes for an SEC Championship and you're one, that's obviously going to help. And Quinn hasn't put up the best of stats, right? You look around the country, he doesn't have the best stats for any of the quarterbacks out there. So I think he's going to have to go, you know, crazy throw for 450 yards in the game, maybe have a five or six touchdown game, just so his numbers can kind of look similar to some of the recent Heisman Trophy winners. But, man, he's got a shot, he's playing incredibly well. And even if he doesn't win the Heisman, the step that this guy has taken, I mean, you go back and look at his first year back in 2022. The guy looked lost and people were saying how he was incredibly overrated and the recruiting rankings were wrong. And he just wasn't built to be a quarterback at this level. They're the big step last year, and he's taken an even bigger step this year. So he's absolutely in the mix to win the Heisman Trophy. If Texas goes, you know, 11 and 1 or 12 or no, I think minimum, he's going to be in New York as long as he stays healthy. But, yeah, I mean, he's the biggest favor right now for a reason with what he's done through these first couple of games. He's got a legit shot to win that thing. Brad, let's switch gears a little bit. You sat in the chairs in this studio. You've forced your Texans' pandemonium, but we know that you're a Cowboy fan. Were the Cowboys that good for all the Jerry Jones saying we're going for it, but yet they let their running backs get away. They didn't bring any running backs. They didn't add many people, except for the retooling of bringing Zeke back one more time. But yet they were dominant on both sides of the football. Was that just to shine that bad or was it a combination of the Cowboys actually might be better than some people think? Yeah, a cowboy had some serious issues. And I mean, it was a similar Brown team. They were a little bit short-handed, obviously no Nick Chob. They were down a couple of offensive linemen. And that was the same, for the most part, the same Brown team that won 11 games last year with Joe Flacco, who was sitting on his couch for the majority of the season. So I think a lot of it has to do with DeShawn just being completely inept as a quarterback right now. And I'm sure you all talked about the newest lawsuit a lot this week. Maybe that was on his mind going into that game. But him being a shell of himself definitely contributed to the Cowboys' success. But keep in mind, I mean, Dallas has won 12 games in a row into the last three years. Like the playoffs have obviously been their issue. Philadelphia Packers got him last season. But in the regular season, this is a team that's won a lot of games. I think they're second to the Chiefs in regular season wins in the last five years. So they don't get credit because regular season wins don't matter a whole lot in this sport. But the Cowboys are still very good. I expect them to win double-digit games again this season. And yeah, as long as the Shawn Watson's quarterback in the Browns, I think making bets against them this season is not a bad strategy. I think the question though of the Cowboys is, can Dak win in the postseason? Can Dak win in the postseason? Yeah, that's it. I mean, look, I'm a believer in Dak Prescott. Like I know a lot of Cowboys fans were questioning Gary Jones' decision to give him that long-term contract and obviously pundits around the NFL were kind of flabbergasted by how much money Dak was getting considering that two and five playoff record. You look at some of the games, like some of these games aren't on Dak. Now, Dak's got to be better. You can't absolve him from all of the blame for that two and five record. But everybody in that Cowboys organization just kind of crapped a bet for lack of a better phrase against Queen Bay last year. So they've got to get that monkey off their back for sure, especially in the NFC though, Jeremy, like if Dak was in the AFC, going up against Mahomes and Shroud and Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, I don't know if he's good enough to make a Super Bowl, let alone win one, having to go through the gauntlet that is the AFC. But you look at the QBs in the NFC. I mean, Jaylen Hurst doesn't quite look like the same guy he was two years ago. He was front-runner for the MPP late in the year. I don't really know, like Jared Goff, Matt Stafford, Brock Purdy, you look at some of the quarterbacks and some of the other contending teams in that conference, no one really scares you a whole lot. So I think Dak's got a shot to make a run this year. Obviously, a huge year for the Cowboys. Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his contract. So I think everybody kind of knows what's at stake if he can't make a deep playoff run. But maybe I'm insane for believing it, but I still believe that Dak Prescott is good enough to get the Cowboys to and even win a Super Bowl. Well, BK, I think the big question is because you mentioned it, Dak got his contract, CD got his. It's parsing the odds man out because we were talking about we knew the three guys were coming up. We knew that priorities were going to matter and you have to have a quarterback and you know how good CD's been. But Parsons has been equally as good early in his career. It's hard to believe the Cowboys might be faced with a situation where they're going to let him walk. They're going to have to trade him and watch him walk out the door. Yeah, I'd be shocked if that happens, right? I mean, Jared Jones is such a circus. And there's really no point in putting in any stock and anything he says nowadays. It's kind of funny and makes for good content for all of us. So it's fun to listen to him. But now whatever he says doesn't make any sense. So when he's going to the media and he's talking about how, oh man, we can't pay Dak, we can't pay CD, we can't pay Michael, we can't pay all three of those guys. There's no way, look around the league. I mean, there are so many teams who have paid a quarterback, a wide receiver, and an edge rusher, right? Like this is normal protocol and it's not bad teams. Look at Philadelphia. The Cowboys biggest threat in the NFC used to team that was in the Super Bowl two years ago. I mean, they've got two receivers making $30 million a year. They've got a quarterback making 50 plus. They've got Saquon now. They've got O'Liamon and DeLiamon making a ton of money. Like if you do things right and you're a competent general manager, you can find ways to pay star players, even if it's multiple star players, top of market money. And I think the Cowboys for as dumb as Jerry Jones is, I think he's smart enough to realize how important Micah Parsons is to the success of that team. So I think he'll find a way, it might take until the final day of the offseason, like it did with Dak, but I think he'll find a way to ultimately get Micah sign long term. I think the way they structured Dak's contract is a pretty big tell, too. Like a lot of that money's like next year. So I think that they structured that as a big clue that they want to keep Micah. BK, thanks so much for asking or coming in, hanging out with us. Enjoy a great football weekend. Miss you, buddy. Hey, the all two guys. Always great here for me. I'll be good.
