We're not to the weekend yet but we're just about there, it is a Friday. Thanks for joining us, Eric Kerfender with you, this is KCVL, KCRK. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Director, Kelly Seusswind, approving the lethal removal of up to two wolves from the Onion Creek wolf pack. That in response to repeated depredations of cattle in both Stevens and Ponderay counties. The decision consisted with the guidance of the State Wolf Conservation Management Plan, Department of Fish and Wildlife, documenting three confirmed wolf depredation events in that pack territory, three dead livestock since August 10th, all attributed to the Onion Creek pack, at least two, well in this case more than two, proactive deterrence measures and responsive deterrence measures were implemented by the livestock producers prior to the depredation events. They had nearly daily range riding, human presence, also removing sick and injured cattle from the range, also livestock carcass sanitation. The department documented the deterrence in the agency's wolf livestock mitigation measures checklist with date entries, so the staff discussed the recent depredations by the Onion Creek wolf pack and the associated effectiveness of the non-lethal deterrence tools. They believe the depredations will likely continue given the recent pack behavior, so the director agreed and authorized the lethal removal operation. This is in effect through September 23rd. After that they would have an evaluation period. The lethal removal operation may be extended if additional wolf depredations are documented. Coming up on Saturday it is the Salsa Fiesta. Now this is a city that while there was a lot of historical things, a lot of things back from the 1600s, 1500s, there was the lighthouse up on top of a hill. Hiked up there, took a look at that. Lighthouse actually was constructed in 120 AD by the Romans. It has been redone since then was redone in the 1700s. It's still continuing as a lighthouse. No longer do they light fires and light oil up atop the lighthouse. It's electric now and no longer has a lighthouse personnel there in the lighthouse to take care of things. It's a town that well there was a lot of historical. It's again like so many of them in Spain that we have been to from America where our history only goes back a little over 200 years. You're looking at housing and buildings that are way over 200 years old that are still fully in use here in Spain. Now the area of Spain of a corona is a little different than much of Spain in the first place. They have no bulls, no bull fighting and musically they don't use guitars. What you will hear and see in a corona Spain is bagpipes. A little different didn't expect that in Spain. So in your travels if you are going down the coast of Spain again just before reaching Portugal and you are in a corona Spain, well don't make the mistake of asking about bulls and bull fighting on guitars because they'll look at you and know that you know nothing about their history and what they do in that region of Spain. Gotta continue south down into Portugal. That'll be coming up next week. In the tour around, well we're in Europe heading down from Spain and Portugal is next. You need water, you need fogle, fogle pump and supply from the ground up to the pump from the pump to your faucet. Not enough water, hydro fracturing may be the answer. Hydro fracturing opens water producing veins to increase flow or maybe an underground holding tank providing a consistent ready source of water. Call the fogle professionals or stop by their sales and service office on the north highway. You need water, you need fogle. Fogle pump and supply, the water professionals. Of course this week we've been talking a lot about the pack 12 and looking like we're gonna have more schools than just Oregon State and Washington State. Gotta find two more schools to make the eight schools. The NC2A requires, well as we start the fall sports season for high school, it's kind of a realignment of leagues. The new northeast A league, well it's Colville, Lakeside, Medical Lake and Riverside. Here's Deer Park, we talked about the other day, how they have moved up and joined the Greater Spokane League, Newport and Freeman. They have dropped to the northeast 2B. So the northeast A league now, a four team league. The Colville volleyball team, they hosted their non-league rival Deer Park, we had that match on KCVL. Deer Park swept Colville, three straight games, 25-21, 25-12, 25-7. We move over to football starting tonight, Colville hosting Deer Park. That game gets underway seven o'clock. We'll have Colville Deer Park, high school football, seven o'clock tonight on KCVL. In baseball last night, the Seattle Mariners dropped the open era of the series to Texas and Texas got one run in the second inning. Mariners tied things up in the fourth, then took the lead with three runs in the fifth, but later in the game, Texas scores one and the seventh, three more in the eighth. Seattle loses to Texas, five to four. Seattle still second place behind Houston, still that slight chance of a wildcard spot and Texas and Seattle tangle up again tonight. We'll have Mariner baseball, that'll be on 92.1 KCRK. Today's local weather forecast brought to you by Floner Electric at 423 West first in Colville.
