Well joining me now, one of the up-and-coming trainers down there at Rickit and Park. Andrew Caston joins us. Good morning to you, Andrew. Good morning, Mark. How are you getting a nice team engaged today? And you get a bit of a break during the day, middle of the day, but we kick off nice and early. And the first Dom Perignon, not a bad sort of horse. This just blotted the copy book last up. What was it down to the very heavy trick? Yeah, definitely looked there. She didn't cop the very wet ground. So I opted to give her a month off. She's freshing that well. I'm going out a little bit, but it'll matter the rail's still out of fairway today. So it looks like she was going to be an on-speed horse. She's definitely in each way charged the TRK horse looks extremely hard to beat. Yep, Dom Perignon in the first nice each way value there. And August, that's your mate, rides a bit for you. Here's my apprentice. He's been with me for, I don't know, nearly 12 months now. And he's going the right way. He certainly is one of the up-and-coming apprentices in the South Island. We moved to race two over the 1200 meters of 65. You've got a couple engaged here and Mogul went round on the best company as a three-year-old. Yeah, he's also like a lot. I'm taking a little bit of time to strengthen up. I found he raced OK first up at the 1000 meters. The TRK was lightning fast and he was wide and did a bit of work. And yeah, he was OK. Stips to 1200 today with the senior jockey on. He felt like I thought he was a definite HR. OK. And so it's Mogul. You get Joe Doyle, the other runner, number three. That's charming. And Carly Williams rides a lot for you. And not a lot of luck last night in my nine-year-old Roman. No luck at all. Never got to go. So lucky he went to the line unchested. His form of paper looks pretty ordinary. But I tell you, it can't be done in his form. I was very happy with the way he went last night. And I just wish he'd got to go. He would have finished top four or five. So he's done well. He got the wide go, which I think you appreciate a little bit of room. And without fail, he's a child. He's a top four player. Because it looks really strong, I'm asking. OK, we can play at that top four around 20 to 1. That's charming. We moved to race three. And she's a lovely mayor this time, Addie Deva. Four bachelors of winter. She's actually won six of her 30-odd starts. Yeah, Addie. I think she's probably the best. She's probably still in front of her. She's come up nice this time around. She's been running through the winter. And she appears to like weight ground. Things are going to dry up pretty quickly. So I'm not sure how many more runs she will have. But she's the top of her game. She gets in here at a good weight with the claim off my partner. And look, she hasn't won a bad race in the last four or five. So she'll go around with a 58 kilos aboard. We go to race four on top of the page again. Del Monaco, another one with a wide gate. But you get last season's leading jockey Warren Kennedy aboard. Yeah, look at the positive to get Warren Kennedy on. He was a late nomination. I just felt the way the weather looked. My hope it keeps raining all day. And he does like a wet ground. So he's drawn out wide. He's going to be a little bit of lucky to have a top weight. But he gets things his way. He's place chances sure. OK, so Del Monaco, race four. We go to race five. And you get a couple of really smart horses. And today, Andrew and this one I have a lot of time for. And he's second up, John L. Rocco. Yeah, same here. He's probably the best horse I have at the minute. He's got a nice record. His first up run was, wasn't bad. I've bought a lot of options for me around Canterbury. So I had to go on my first up, which I was reluctant to do. And there's a 10 out of the pool pretty hard. He's definitely tightened up with that run. Got a good gate today with the CPA 1800. And look, he's definitely a player. It's only a simple field. But I'll be telling Connolly a few. He wants to rock and roll today. He's quite a bit of lead-up. She's a good leading rider. So he'll be in the first three or fourth. And yeah, I expect him to run well. OK, let's New Zealand Cup trial. What is the target for John L. Rocco this spring summer? No targets. He has nominated for a couple of a bit of races. The COVID smile, and of course, the liver smile, it takes things. But just want to get through today. And then we'll make some firm plans. Yeah, not 100% should work out of the stage. OK, but he has a very nice horse to go to here. You say that, Andrew, for our Australian listeners. Put him in your black book. Race eight. But in and out, Lippi, it wasn't one of four starts back. But once again, you go to the top, and you've got to be boss on the board this time. Anyways, good to get the best. So you have Opie's on. You've had a lot of work that has stuck there. I think that's the reason I got him. Got him hooked in. Lucky Joe Inspector, rating 65. We've got a couple of runs in 75. And I don't think he's been too bad since he won. He's got to carry the weight. I just hope to just attract races. Pretty firm, because he does like firm ground. Definitely in each way, chance with the right pile of oil. And you'll need to get the right running so that he gets drawn out a little bit. Yeah, so might be a key, drawn out a bit, Lippi. And he's easier to spot. You'll be the one in the eye. Wish I wouldn't call us Lippi in race eight. Race nine. Now, we're just waiting to get an off the bellow here. But, gee, your ex lyrical about John L. Rocco. I'm not far off Sastertona. Can't be too far off John L. Rocco, can she? No, definitely not. She's one of the up and coming years too. Looked on a lot of her. I'll be honest. She then does only enough in her track work. But her race record speaks for itself. She's pretty handy mea. She's had some surgery. So she was a fair way off the time off the scene. But she came back well, trialled super and a fair thumb without standing. So she was only 1200 meters. I think she's tying up nights with that run. She steps to the 14 today. I thought she was probably my best chance that she got a run. OK, we're sweating on the run for Sastertona. And the last at 7.20, she was a good fully. She picked up a couple of placings in the last five or six starts. But she went round as a two-year-old and a cracker million. And she's-- you know she's got it there. But she's just not quite finding the line, is she? Now, you did write season in and out mea. I'll be honest. I think it's 14. I have to do best distance. We sort of play around with the 12s or 14s in the miles where we can. And she raced last week at the need. And unfortunately, the track deteriorated there. And that was pretty wet. She went to the work and got tired late. She's going to need a lot of luck. She's doing the power part today. And actually, down on the way, I think, brought into the 50s. But on her day, we will know, as you say, she's got some former at the pre-handles. On her day, she's different. OK, put the S3x around here. 14.00 meters, 7.20. But say, Satortono and John El Rocco. Two of your best tapes today, Andrew? Yeah, if and me, I think they'll pretty hand your horses to follow through this spring. Awesome. We'll leave it at that. Well, thanks for taking the time to join us on breakfast with the Kiwis this morning. Would you bring it to you, Mark Clayton, and a couple of good guests in Andrew Lacey, and Andrew Carson down there in Christchurch, and Andrew with a couple of really nice horses, Satortono, and John El Rocco. So put them in your black booker. John El Rocco, and just hoping Satortono, just follow her wherever she goes. And Andrew, a couple of his best from New Plymouth on the 1st. I think kicked the day off the right way with Lock Katrina over the 1800 meters. And he liked one later in the day at a price. Race six, number nine, Coro's Princess. And we both agreed. Race seven, number nine, there we go. So looking forward to the racing today out in New Zealand. Hope you've found a couple of winners for you. And also the guests we had a three weeks ago. And Wayne Hill us. He quite liked running with the devil. Didn't have a lot of luck. Ram fourth, but it's in the fourth again today. And it's up against Andrew Lacey's tip. And Bella Diamond, Bella Timing, sorry. And didn't speak to Jockey Sam Spratt, who's not riding today. But she did have a strong push towards number eight, our Sassy Anne in Race Four at New Plymouth. Thanks for joining us. That was Breakfast with the Kiwis.
