Welcome back everyone to the prime-time edition of the Football Function podcast. As usual, I'm your host Goose, and today we're going to be doing a quick little breakdown of the Thursday night game where the Buffalo Bills faced off with the Miami Dolphins. There was a feeling pretty early in this game to me that made me think Buffalo was going to be able to just dominate this game, and that feeling just so happened to come after the very first drive where the Dolphins took the kickoff, and kind of moved it down. Not great, but obviously ended in interception. Now, kind of forecasting more to the game. This particular interception for Toa was pretty much more on the wide receiver than him, but unfortunately for the Dolphins. This night just kind of went downhill from that opening drive. The Bills were able to capitalize on an opening drive turnover with a quick six-play drive that ended with a Josh Allen pass to James Cook for the touchdown. Miami was able to run down the field on their next drive pretty easily, and to tie the game up with 7-7 with a pass from Toa to Devana Chain. So after, you know, after those two drives everybody kind of got the feeling like, oh, this is going to kind of be a back-and-forth game. You know, that first drive for the Dolphins looked ugly. The Bills were able to kind of click on their first drive, get a touchdown. Dolphins were able to recover, but really just after that, I mean, everything kind of seemed to go downhill for them after that touchdown. Like I mentioned, it was pretty unfortunate for the Dolphins because after that touchdown drive their offense wasn't really able to get much going on. Toa had a really terrible outing in this game. He gave through for only 145 yards and ended the game with three interceptions. One, that was a very, very ugly, just horrible. I don't know what he was thinking. I don't know what happened, what his brains thought. Well, I don't know what was going on, but you know, that particular touch interception was able to be returned for a pick six from the Bills and really from there on it was all Bills. Toa's night was very sadly cut short when he was trying to convert on a fourth and down run and took a pretty bad hit and seemed to leave the game concussed. I think if we all understand Toa, this is like his fourth one in five years, it's just, it's not good. You know, he's knowing his past concussions. This is a very scary issue, and I just really hope he's going to be okay. It did look as if he was able to get up and kind of walk around afterwards, but it's going to be really interesting to see what the future holds for him now that he's been dealing with this injury multiple multiple times. You know, I've already heard multiple people calling for him to retire. You know, he, like I said, he was able to walk around, but that really doesn't mean anything. It's still a concussion. CTE is still a bad, bad topic in football. So it's just going to kind of be, it's going to be interesting to see how they play off the rest of this year, because if they lose their starting quarterback, they're going to, I heard Daniel said they're going to look towards a veteran quarterback, whether that be the Ryan Tannehill coming back home to Miami, or you know, it's just going to be really interesting to see that, that Dolphins offense is too talented, that I think they can make anything work, but it's just going to really be interesting to see how they handle it, everything moving forward. If I had to pick one bright side for the Dolphins, it would be their running back, Devane chain. He just continues to look great. He can run the ball, he can catch the ball, he's fast, he can move. I just, they need to get most are healthy because it's too much to put him on. They're just basically saying, hey, if you play good, we're going to win if you don't, you're not. So they can't really rely so heavily on him. So we'll just hope hopefully they can get that figured out. But depending on their quarterback situation moving forward, I do not think the Dolphins should panic just yet. Like I said, they still have so much talent on really both sides of the ball. It's just going to see how they go moving forward. Kind of going off the Bills, they were really easily, they were able to handle the Dolphins pretty easy. James Cook ended with an amazing day, just Josh Allen being hurt, but doing exactly what he needed to do, you know, his left hand was hurt. So it wasn't his throw in hand, but they just, for a team that going into this, they thought, oh, they lost all their receivers, they lost everything that they were going to struggle. This team looks like they've got something to prove and it's a scary team. You know, James Cook is playing out of his mind, their defense is making plays, making interceptions. You know, this is going into this game, you're thinking this is going to be a close game. But like I said, Josh Allen did exactly what he needed to do being hurt, but the Bills were able to easily handle the Dolphins with the final score of 31 to 10. I do feel like both of these teams are in contention, heavily depending on how to as situation moves forward, but I really like both these teams and the Bills are, they are who we thought they were. Josh Allen is who we thought he was. They are a contending team, they are a good team, regardless of the receivers, regardless of losing digs. This team knows how to win and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. But that's my quick recap of the Thursday night game. I hope y'all come back later on after the Sunday night and Monday night game where I give a quick recap of that. I appreciate y'all listening and y'all have a good rest of y'all's week.
