Coach Clutter is also enthusiastic about the attendance he has seen in the weight room from most of his squad over the summer. That high attendance has helped Clarke get stronger and bigger. Players like sophomore Urijah Fry have taken advantage of the summer workouts and earned a starting spot.

Clarke is familiar with Atlantic as the Indians fell to the Trojans 47-33 over a year ago. Coach Clutter has been watching film on Atlantic's week 0 victory against T.J. and he's been telling his team to expect hardnosed football.

Welcome here to KJ and sports asalucus here with the Clark Indians at football coach Justin clutter coach. We appreciate you joining us here How's your day been so far? Oh, it's been a great day. I thought it was a good day to talk football Amen to that and coach you were telling me, you know, you're taking over this program now How has been the growing pains along with it? All right, it's been good You know a lot of it was you know buying into small feet and stuff in the waiting room consistently I think that's a that's been a fight I think with a lot of the kids Over the years and I think just a we had a lot of a lot of kids participating baseball as well So I know playing baseball in the summer and I will really Pampers a lot of the offseason stuff for football. You've got to really be committed to be a multi-sport athlete I was told this kid if you give me a multi-sport athlete, you've got a multi-sport then it's just a focus on one You know for three four months and then folks on another because really you're not being that much more to ask So I think the weight room is something where you can build culture something that you can you can change the dynamics of your program You know, you can't really rely on talent alone where you can have some gaps in talent still make up with it being in the weight room so Based on what you've seen in the offseason and in the weight room from this team What do you think some of the strengths are of this Indians club? I mean, I think we have a Solid nucleus of kids. It's just a a lot of those kids are younger kids A lot of our sophomores and even some of our juniors that was a big group our kids be the weight of the summer And that'll not pay off They may not pay off now, but it will down the road for sure and we have some seniors We don't have a ton of seniors, but we've got we've got enough to be leaders and stuff to push up push some of those younger kids To get that motivated and stay with it and see what the future can can hold for this group Who out of some of those underclassmen have really impressed you? Uh, I know the kids that have really been in that weight room. You dry a fry. He's a sophomore kid He'll start at the F That's our running back position And he'll get plenty of tots with the with the rock He's a wrestler really good wrestler as well So he's a he's a kid that really dedicates himself the way your room be stronger and Our whole offensive line was was living in the way in the summer So that's the positive we aren't real big upfront, but those kids have gotten stronger and really built a camaraderie between them That that crew would be like a Jonathan Galvez would be at center for us John Sanga And we had a guard and then Darien Martinez and Eastern broke out of that crew right there. They were in the wet room I believe they all had 90 90 percent or greater attendance the summer stuff, but definitely positive for them And that includes the speeding conditioning as well. So You know, you've had some time here Atlantic had a week zero matchup where they went against council Bluffs Jefferson What did you notice about Atlantic watching film and prepping for for this game Friday? Uh, you know one thing I kind of I kind of know what Atlantic known for and they wanted to they want to have that bruising style of running that that they I thought coach I had put in a pretty simple plan game plan, which you know makes sense. It's week one You know and some of the stuff you've wrapped all summer long They didn't do anything real fancy, but they really didn't need to as well I mean, they really I think when you rush for 370 yards, you know After I mean it could have only a nine yards of care. I believe as well So it's something that we've got to slow down as a defense We got to go about the plan that way and trying to match the size with maybe some of our speed and do some things That maybe they didn't see last week and they gave us a good plan to maybe not use against the against the run TJ, but I think I think we can just be physical and hold our own I think we can you know slow them down a little bit I don't know if you can stop them, but I think we can slow them down a little bit And that's gonna be our goal, but I think I think for them I think you're gonna see them add a little bit more to their offense this week and Maybe open it up a little bit with the past game. I think they only threw the ball three times, so that's You don't want to put 10 in a box. I would be able to put 13 in the box. That won't be possible And what else would you like to see from your squad come Friday? I'd like to you know, it's gonna be good to see how we handle some pressure being on the road You know Trojan Bowl is one of my favorite places to visit I never got to play there a coach there, but I've been there many times and You know, it's just it's a neat environment the kid I told the kids and to be prepared. It was probably the best day to be able to play in all year for sure You know, it's a they pack it in and their quality team. So me heck of a challenge for us this week Absolutely and once again, that's the Clark Indians head football coach Justin clutter joining us here on KJA in sports coach we wish you good luck. Thank you very much.
