My friends aren't degenerates, but I've never changed them. Liars, sheets, and hypocrites, not get time for a save. 45, 50, 45. There goes Davis! Oh my god! Davis is going to run it all the way back! [CHEERING] You're listening to the Bet the Juice podcast presented by degenerates and nonsense. My friends aren't degenerates, but I've never changed them. Liars, sheets, and hypocrites, not get time for a save. 45, 40, 45, 50, 45. There goes Davis! Oh my god! Davis is going to run it all the way back! Auburn's going to win the football game! But it comes free to Henry. And now to Allen. Here it goes. Three-pointer. Got it. One-three, two-leaning rope. It's time to do something. Socks for the win! [CHEERING] Yes! You're listening to the Bet the Juice podcast with your host, Cody Mitchell and Connor Allday. Welcome back to the Bet the Juice podcast. Cody Mitchell, Hunter Allday here as always. Week one is in the books. Awesome week one. I think we did really good betting-wise. It was fun. Just awesome just to be able to-- I remember texting you and it was like, dude, this kicks fast. Yes. I'm literally just being a piece of shit on my couch all day long for 12 hours. Mm-hmm. And I have college sports on that I can gamble on. It literally just feels so right. Anyway, I mean, we are all the way back. Yes. We are-- we are so back. And then come this Saturday. My fiance is gone for Bachelorette weekend. So we're running back bachelor party number two. And we're going to sit around and get drunk and gamble on 18 to 25-year-olds now. And that sounds like the greatest time in my life. Yes. So first off, we're going to recap the big games that happened this weekend. And then we will get into the rest of the slate. We're going to give everybody a little bit of love, even if we didn't have no action on it. So obviously, we got to start off the new game. Clemson and Georgia. Clemson, Georgia wins 34-3. Cash that minus-- did you play the under, too? I am-- I am playing the under. I just had Georgia several different ways. I had it in 14 and 1/2. I had the-- well, I got the worst of the number. This number dropped before kickoff to 12 and 1/2. Yeah. And I don't understand why. I don't. But the first half got me a little worried a little bit. I think they were what, up like three and 1/2? Something like that. I mean, but at the same time, I wasn't worried because I've seen Georgia make some very, very good second half adjustments. So they just dominated that second half. Georgia just looks so damn good. Carson Beck looks like the best quarterback in college football. He made it look so easy, saw a little bit of the athleticism when he had two crucial runs. I'm pretty sure we're for first downs. They did it also with missing a couple players. Like, there was no ETN. Yeah, the top two backs were out. And there were several other players. And I know they had a couple injuries during the game, but they appeared to not be as severe. I know one was Dylan Bell, the wide receiver who was phenomenal. And Mike L. Williams, who-- I mean, that looked pretty brutal of the ankle injury, taking the low block from Momfa. But that wide receiving room, you kind of saw how deep it really is once Bell was taken out of the game, you had London Humphreys just step up. And he was kind of an afterthought. He was one of the first wide receiver transfers that they ended up getting this last cycle. And with some of the other additions, he was kind of an afterthought. But my god, if it wasn't like watching Ladd McConkie out there, I mean-- Yeah, it looked like carbon coffee. Not just because he's white, but just-- A little bit because of that. But also the speed after the catchability. And I loved on that touchdown that he had. He went further into the play of field to absorb that hit and still be able to try to score. You saw him go a little bit right. And it just worked out perfectly. But yeah, Georgia looks like the death machine that I've kind of assumed that they were going to be. Now let's flip it over to my favorite team to talk about. Just some positives for Clemson. The defense seems legit, even though depth kind of seems like a concern because Georgia's depth started to gash them a little bit in that second half. But let's get to the negatives. This offense is ass. Again, I'm not going to crazy overreact because this is Georgia, the best team in college football. I understand that. But they couldn't do anything. No, they couldn't. It literally took Cade having some of his best throws. There was that one over the shoulder one to Antonio Williams that was a pretty good deep shot. But it needed to be because the corner is right there. Yeah, and obviously Malchai Starks's pick was insane. But it was the same pick two years ago. I know it was crazy once that started circulating around. And again, it's something I've been hammering since talking over the last couple of years from about Clemson. Wide receivers are mid. Yeah. Like other than Jake Burning School, who's a tight end, I mean, that one catch that he had over the middle was just absolutely insane. Who's the guy, really? It's almost frustrating to see after knowing what Clemson's put out into the pros. When you have Martavius, Bryant, T Higgins, Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins, you've had these guys come through and like sent some Mari Rogers, I'd say, since he went pro, you haven't had anybody. Yeah, but is that all on the wide receivers? Or do they just miss on Cade and DJ? Because I also think they both stink. I don't know. It's got to, it is definitely a factor. But it's just like, where are the guys? It just like you have talent in there. But it's not coming through. I don't know if it's something with the development, which is crazy because Dabo was a former wide receiver coach. You'd think that he'd be able to coach those guys up. I mean, the thing that worries me a little bit is a lot of those guys are all the same build. Like the guys that we just, or that I just listed off, all probably over the height of 6'3", probably. That was small underneath guys. Yeah, everyone that they have is under 6'4". Now you've had success with that with Hunter Renfro. But still, you need like the big body guys. You need the outside guys. And they're just kind of lacking then. It's kind of funny seeing what Notre Dame did with Bo Collins and how it appeared to have worked when he got to Notre Dame, granted still wasn't perfect. But I think also, I think the offensive line isn't that good? Yeah, that was bad too. I think there's a chance that if it goes sour, Dabo steps down at the end of the year. Yeah, I don't think it would be a situation where they fire him. You can't. It's going to be a situation where he has to walk away. Yeah, I think, I don't think he's built for 2024 and moving forward college football. Obviously, Connor, you've been holding the sword for him. I've been digging that grave. Yeah, not adapting to Notre Dame, college football, the transport, all and stuff like that. I just don't know if he wants to do it. I think Nick Saban could have coached 10 more years if this wasn't for what we're doing with now with the NIL and the transport. I think he's supposed to be coaching. Yeah, I mean, he at least, we always saw Nick Saban adapt and he was starting to adapt to the transfer portal. It was just how everything is with NIL and literally buying players. He just didn't want to be a part of that, which I understand. Well, he didn't want to be a part of it upfront. He wanted to do it under the table. Exactly. Kind of like how they did it, how he used to do it in the old school days. Do a Mac fee, like said something to him about that on game day. I, yeah, I love the dynamic of those two on there. It is fucking hilarious. It is a video that went viral of like, Mac fee just jamming out to snap your fingers and you just see save and they're like, what though? No, the one I like more is him doing the dog chant and then like singing the whole crowd. Then he's like, right next to him. I'm picking Alabama. He's like, oh! But yeah, for Clemson, I still want to believe that the talents there, that they can still do fine once the ACC schedule rolls around, but I don't know. I didn't see any like the everything about this team kind of looks the same defense. Just as good offense. It's like, where's it going to come? Yeah, we'll find out a lot more about Clemson on Saturday. On Saturday, yeah, we will know a lot. And we'll preview that game a little bit. Oh, I'm putting into the backhoe in for that game, buddy. All right, let's keep this in chronological order here. Miami 41, four to 17, in the swap Miami comes in. Do you not catch that? No, 'cause here's the thing, the game that we're going to talk about next. I'm just going to-- It started at noon, but-- Technically, you're right. Yeah, it finished up around the same time as, well, kind of in the middle of this game, but-- No, I want to talk about this. Yeah, this was, I think, a more-- Impact game game, yeah. Miami 41, four to 17. Connor gets a lock battle win over me. You're goddamn right. I will say, congratulations to you. Sticking firm with Miami. But we have heard this. I've seen this song in dance too many times. It just happened, it came true this year. It all clicked. And as you're going to-- And it's week one, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. And that's another point I will have later on. But again, kind of something I stressed, at least when we did the Miami breakdown, I think the differences between this team being, 'cause Miami's always talented. They're always one of the best top two, top three talented teams in the ACC. The difference is, Cam Ward. Yes. That's the difference, Baker, and he has an amazing game this weekend. It was making it look so damn easy. Side arm throws, I know he had the pick, but the thing about it is that was right on dude's hands. Yeah, it was a catchable ball. It wasn't like he just completely sailed it over the wide receiver. But actually that, I don't know it was the worst, like as me as a consumer of the game and picking games every week, actually gave me a little bit of confidence with this, 'cause it did not affect him at all. No, absolutely not. But just in the run game was phenomenal. Movement in the pocket was very, very good. The connection with him in Restrepo is just perfect already. Yeah. Like those guys look like they played a season together and it's literally just been an off season. And they didn't have to use the run game that much, but at the same time, Fletcher and Martine has looked good. I was honestly surprised when I saw Fletcher out there. I thought they were gonna try to ease him back. That's gonna be a good duo if he's already healthy and up to speed. Also, Elijah Arroyo, the tight end is a fucking beast. Like that dude, he was not on my radar. And yeah, I want him on the bangles. I don't know what year he is, but I want them to draft him at some point. What a start to college football in like a 27-year-old, score is one of the first touchdowns. Did you kick off? Did you, you probably, no, you were working, but they did a story on him. And like when he was the first one to score, I was so excited because the story of like all of his injuries and everything that he had to battle through. - And then being the best friend of the Oregon tight, like being close with the Oregon tight end who passed away. So like that, at first, I wanted to make fun of him. And then I saw that video that I'm like, nevermind. I'll state, state it myself. - Oh, Arroyo is a senior, or is a junior. My draft radar is up for him, but it wasn't like just Restrepo. I know he ended up with seven receptions for 112 yards. Cam was spreading it out. And it was just beautiful watch. Defense looks solid. And I think they're just gonna get better that defensive line look phenomenal. My merch was having a lot of problems throughout the day. But for Florida, besides the Montreal, Johnson, Long TD, which if you watch the replay of it, safety kind of takes a bad angle and gets stuck in traffic and doesn't really hold the edge that well. And it's just like a free run to the end zone. But the offense just was struggling all game. I know that when we talked about Florida, we talked about the like, I like the roster. It's just the schedule. I don't know, the roster just doesn't seem to be there. Like as good as I thought it was gonna be. Like at wide receiver outside a Eugene Wilson, which you even struggled to get him the ball. Like I know Badger ended up with three receptions for 43 yards, but it seemed like no one was really emerging at the wide receiving room other than Wilson. It just, I don't know, it doesn't look good. The offensive line looks like a fucking problem. And what worries me is my next question is, is it time to already pull the DJ lagway rip cord? 'Cause he looked kind of solid out there. - They have the FCS this week, right? - Yeah, I believe it. You Samford next, and then after that, you host Texas A&M. - Yeah, you lose that when I think they pull the plug. - Now, I know that lagway has been taking some first team snaps because Mertz is dealing with the concussion, but I don't know if he, which, I mean, it should be kind of easy 'cause it's an FCS school. So I think he's gonna look solid, but yeah, it might be time to pull that cord. - As we basically tout him as the most like underrated quarterback in the SEC. - Yeah, he pulls this one. Thanks, buddy. - Yeah, it just was not good for Mertz. - Yeah. Florida might fall apart a lot faster than they thought. - Yeah, I think Navy is a dead man walking. - Mm-hmm. - All right, let's just do it. - Yes. - Penn State 34, West Virginia 12. Cody was wrong. - Very wrong, very wrong. We're still clown mask. - I know, we have a clown mask here that we're gonna make each other wear when I can get my fucking internet fixed and we can actually do this live on YouTube. - I still think he should wear it. - All right. - Clown. - Look. - There's no luck. - I had plus 11 and a half. - Wasn't close. - Wasn't close. And the number of clothes that's seven and a half 'cause everybody was on West Virginia. - Yes. - One of the big things I did say was I need to draw out a pervert to me. Well, goddamn that man pervert to me. - Yes. - Two, I think Neil Brown botched the beginning of this game. Like I would've took some of the points there. - He did a good job paying the refs. - Your fourth down call, when you run the tush push. - Was that the one that you got like a half a yard short but they-- - No, this is what we did not get by the refs. - Oh. - We ran a tush push against Penn State's defensive line with a 5'11 quarterback. Garrett Green, love him to death. He's not jailing hurts. It's not gonna happen. I think we could, and then we, and then the touchdown right before half was a clear offensive pass interference. It didn't call it-- - We've seen it a lot. - I know, but by the letter of the law that is a pass interference call. And after that, if I knew it was over with, I think there's scenarios that they played out differently. We would've covered the spread of 11 and a half. There was no scenario in the world we were gonna win this game. We weren't. - I don't know if there's many scenarios right. - I mean, they don't go right before half. That's a big one. That's a big momentum switch. And if you could've got up early, I think they would've been fine. - Yeah, and maybe if the storm didn't kill any home field, it would've been-- - Yeah, that also, well, the storm will also mirror up. Those fans would've stayed around if it was 14 to 6, not 20, or 13 to 6, not 20 to 6. They would've stuck around a little bit. I would've left too. That was bad. I'll tell you what, Dreller, that was the best. Now, also what's caveat is what strategic defense had to get. I don't know yet. But Dreller was dicing them up, and the biggest thing I saw from him that I loved for Penn State fans is he used his legs, and he was mobile. Something we didn't really get to see a lot of last year. - Yeah, six rushes, 44 yards, an average of 7.3 yards, and a long and 15. - Yeah, so yeah, I'll eat the bullet here. I think I could've covered this in different scenarios, but I was way off. There was zero chance. Why's Virginia was going on this game? Penn State is good. - Yes. I mean, it took the offense a little bit, but Dreller just showed the improvements that, wait, I was, I hate saying this 'cause I also have to root against Penn State, but these were the improvements that I wanted to see. He actually has trust in a wide receiver, and Harrison Wallace's emergence was just big. They've been lacking that dude for a couple of years, and I mean, after, I want to crown him the dude after five receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns, but-- - Put the push off, but. - I mean, there were a lot of push offs this week. - This one meant more to me. - Yeah, I know, but the defense looks good. Nick Singleton looked very well running the ball, and also in the past game, he was pretty effective. I know it was only one catch, but both the catches by the running backs were for 13 and for 20 yards. To think about what Cole and Nicki was able to do with just Devin Neal. - Yeah. - And now he has two phenomenal running backs. I can't wait to see as this team goes further, like the emergence of both of those guys. Just don't do it against Ohio State or kicking them down. - That's what worried me a little bit was, or like kind of gave me hope for West Virginia, too, is like everybody's, Cole and Nicki's an amazing OC. But I was like, he's always had a mobile quarterback, and Drew Allen is kind of a statue. Well, he proved me wrong because he was using his legs a little bit, and not just after he started doing that, too, is when West Virginia's defense completely broke down. - Yeah, and on the flip side for West Virginia, the secondary may be a concern. It was one of the things when we talked about West Virginia that I was worried about that they were down their starter, or down two starters, and like the third guy who was supposed to be a starter was injured coming into this. I don't even know if he played, but I was worried about the secondary, and I mean, Aller was able to kind of piece him up. It's kind of funny that, like normally when a lot of plays go in your favor, which for West Virginia they did, outside of like the Bad Snass, but there was the fourth down called that shouldn't have been a fourth down. There was the original fumble by Aller that you guys recover literally. The next play give it back. The ball seemed to be going West Virginia's way, and normally when shit like that happens, that team ends up winning the game, but they, I mean, even with those opportunities, they couldn't really do that. - Yeah, I mean, the only pushback I'll have on that is like, yeah, they did go, but like you scored a clear pass interference touchdown 10 to half. Like that was the most blatant pass interference call I've ever seen in my life. - Again, it was happening a lot. - I get that, and that's a problem. That shouldn't not, that's, I don't know how they're not calling. That's like so clear in like night and day. There's just, like Travis Hunter did the same thing in North Dakota State. Like how's that not anything? - Yeah, but the thing that I have like a little bit of optimism for West Virginia was, there were a lot of times when Green actually had time, he was able to find open receivers and a lot of them were down the middle, which like that was the one thing they lacked. It was mostly like dinking dunk and then launch it down field. He was actually able to dice him up a little bit in the middle of the field. So gives you a little bit of optimism that Green's improving. It's just that Penn State might just be that fucking good. - No, Green's still one of the best 15 quarterbacks in college football. He's the big thing that one of the biggest keys outside of everything that I said was Penn State was able to neutralize his legs. 'Cause when he starts running is when he gets into a rhythm. He picks up seven yards, a seven yard run and then he's got more confidence in his past game and he couldn't move. So Penn State I think is, I'm not gonna overreact, but they drew, when your quarterback has made strides like Aller did, like there's a lot of optimism there. All right, we'll teach the bowl again. I'll tell you what, I had a good week. I didn't, all my big, all the five, the five big games I lost, four of them. And that was four of my five losses. Notre Dame 23, Texas A&M 13. That was ugly is the word I would say if you're a Texas A&M fan. - I want kind of call it a mid-off. Like I don't really know if either one of these teams are that good. - No, but the difference between these two is I trust Riley Leonard. Connor Wegman is on some boards to go in the first round. He was, I'd be surprised he's in the top five rounds now. That was pathetic. That was one of the worst quarterback outings I've seen in a minute. - Yeah, Wegman just flat out was. - Stinks. - He was not good. Two picks, 12 of 30 for a hundred yards. And there were times that, like he was able to find guys, but I kind of hyped up this wide receiving room and I mean, no one could really get separation. I'll give Notre Dame credit. That secondary is fucking good. But D line didn't win as much as I thought they were going to. And you were going up against a basically off new offensive line. So I give Notre Dame so much credit that that offensive line, albeit completely new looked phenomenal. Now Leonard did help with a lot of the moving around in the pocket or taking off when he needed to. I mean, you were so spot on about the sack avoidance. - His sack avoidance is insane. Like I know when you, it's weird to pull up his stats because 18 for 30, 158 yards, no touchdowns, no picks. But then you throw in his rushing yards, 12 rushes for 63 yards. Like he was just phenomenal being able to move around. And like kind of saw the emergence of some wide receivers. Obviously the transfer from Pope from Clemson, Pope Collins came up with a very big clutch catch by the sideline and able to get a foot in bounds. Five catches for 62 yards from him. But just the biggest thing was how good this offensive line was already. And the schedule just gets so fucking easy for them. - No, they, I'm gonna, I will overreact to one thing. Notre Dame is cleanser taken to the college football playoff. I would be shocked if they did not. - I mean, there's another team that we're going to talk about in the next game that kind of emerged that would give me some concerns. But yeah, I mean, but outside of them and Louisville. - They, so they still, they host Louisville. - Which is, that's a big one. - At Georgia Tech, but that is a neutral site game, but still that's a frisky ass team. Host Florida state and that, and then end the season at USC but even by that point. - Get Florida state out of there. So those three teams, they're winning to it. They can lose two of them and they're still getting it. - Yeah. And also they ran, like while the offensive line was very good in pass bro, they were phenomenal. Opening up holes for Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price. That combo looks very fucking good. Just like I kind of, with Leonard, I had high expectations for Notre Dame. I don't really know how good this team is, but this was, this was a big win. And like you're just gonna continue to get better. Your next games are against Purdue and Miami of Ohio, right? - Yes. - Yeah, Purdue, Miami of Ohio before you host Louisville. So you're gonna, you're just gonna continue to get better and yeah, it was, it was just a weird ass game. Like I, I feel like either team could have ended up with this game at any point, but nobody. - I feel a little differently 'cause I just had no faith in Texas A&M's offense. - Yeah. - They look like a Jimbo Fisher offense out there. - Yeah, which hurts because Colin Klein is the offensive corner. - And then Mike Elko were heated with each other too during that game too, 'cause they were wondering like, run the fucking ball is the quote they just kept coming out. - The better name is currently minus 360 to make the cultural plays. - That's right. - They're actually the third lowest odds. - Yeah, 'cause it's Georgia Ohio's, or the actual Ohio state. - Georgia Ohio state, yeah. - All right, to get to the list games on a Sunday night, we're gonna have to eat Crow here. LSU 20, USC 27. Lincoln Riley gets a pretty big win, probably the, this is his most signature win at USC, right? - I can't think of another one. 'Cause every time they played Utah in a big game, they lost. - Yeah, but was there any marquee wins that first year with USC? - The first year is a Caleb. I don't, I mean, I don't think bigger than us. - No, you still have lost to Utah everything. - In a standalone game too, so like that also has impacts of it, so yeah. - Or is Brian Kelly just terrible in a season opener too. - That could be true too, but I was actually pretty impressed with USC. - Yeah. - But I'm not down guarding LSU at all in my conference. - No, USC actually showed a competent defense. I know they gave up numbers, but it was a lot of like, Ben don't break, let them get into the red zone and kind of just hope that we can let them kick field goals. And then the first one, you end up holding them to no points, which was phenomenal, but they tackled. - Yeah, that was the biggest thing is that body language is what I saw. Is that team was tough? - Yeah, and had like the belief. Like it was-- - It actually embraced the defensive side of the ball. - Yeah, just didn't allow a lot of big plays over the top, but like there were times that there were wide receivers, wide open for LSU, but again, it just wasn't the big plays that we always saw with USC. Miller Moss looked very good, 27 for 36, 378 yards, just one touchdown, but he looked very good, had a good command of the offense. I mean, I don't know what else to say. And they also have just weapon after weapon, after weapon. - After weapon is insane. - What's his name? I'm already escaping my name. - Exactly right, that brain. - Oh my God, that dude's electric. That guy has the potential to put a Batavia on Austin, like mixed tape. - Yeah, it was pretty impressive by USC. I was worried about them just getting kind of pushed around like they had in the past, but they didn't. But on the flip side for LSU, like that's why I look good, just sucks that you lost, but defense still needs work, especially in the secondary. It's still a problem like it was back in the day, still haven't seen as much improvement there and need to work on your red zone offense. - Yeah, that was the best killer. - Yeah. - Before we get to the rest of the slate, I obviously got to read this ad here. You fuck them, get a fucking iPhone. - All right, this is my favorite portion of the podcast when we get to give the love to everybody else in college football. When I start off, UCF 57, New Hampshire 3, I covered my 38 and a half, but I tell you what, that start for UCF was fucking bad. - Yeah, KJ did not look good at the start of that. - Top 50 NFL pick, 2025 draft. - Yeah, you wanna just pay me now? - Yeah, I probably should, but. - Yeah, it was just, it was rough, but the one thing that I knew or we knew about this team, that run game was gonna be phenomenal and it was insane. They ended up with 454 yards rushing. I know it is against an FCF school in New Hampshire, but still, that run game was insane. Harvey going off for 142 yards. Penny Boone ended up with 81. Miles Montgomery was 77 and adding 49 to, in receiving just, it was everything that kind of expected to see from UCF, but don't let KJ throw the ball. - Yeah, please, I'm gonna run through a little bit. - Just go full on triple option. - And Rob, maybe if you have something on these ones, because these ones are ones I watched a little bit of, but not like giant contributors here. Central Michigan 66, Central Connecticut State 10, like Forest 45, and North Carolina A&T 13, Buffalo 30, Lafayette 13, Bowling Green, I did bet this one, got the cover 41, 41, 14, 17, the score in the opening kickoff and that, yeah, always feels good when that happens. NC State 38, Western Carolina 21, Wolfpack in trouble at all, Connor. - I knew where that score for one is buttoned up. - It is, just a little bit. Here's the thing, Western Carolina does run a very up tempo fast pace offense, very gimmicky, and it was effective. A little bit concerned about NC State's defense, still have a little bit of time though, to get things right. The biggest thing for me was just watching, I wanted to see how this offense went. This offense was able to move the ball effectively. Jordan Waters was phenomenal running the ball. I am a little bit concerned about the offensive line though, but either way, Grayson McCall looked good, was slinging the ball over the place. Casey Concepcion is a fucking dog, nine receptions, 121 yards, three touchdowns. Justin Jolly, the tight end, was a freak out there, just looked so good. And then, adding Noah Rogers, who was able to come up with some big catches that Ohio State transferred. It was everything that I kind of wanted to see from NC State. It's just like a lot of buttoning up. You ended up with three times that you fumbled the ball, granted you didn't lose any of those. But just, it's the small mistakes. It's the fundamentals that were a little bit screwed up. Still think that this team's gonna be very good coming down this stretch. We always see them stumble and fuck around. - Yeah, this is a team we're gonna learn a lot about him week two. So we'll find out more about that. As Connor's wearing his tennis t-shirt, by the way. - Yeah. Salido gets a cover, 49 to 10 against Duquesne. Arkansas 70, Arkansas, Pine Bluff, zero. - Listen, Taelyn Greene was just looking like prime. - As he showed, against that. - Yes, but it was funny watching, like this was in the box. And it's like, here's Arkansas just destroying, Arkansas, Pine Bluff, and over here is UCF and okay, just through a pick. - Yeah. - It was just, yeah. - They blew up my sweetheart teaser. - Yeah, I know. - I had Arkansas plus 63 and a half. Don't ever do a sweetheart teaser, they never hit. - But they're fun. - Yeah, Jacqueline Jackson looked phenomenal, running the ball, Taelyn Greene. Like I said, was doing everything 88 yards rushing while throwing for 229 yards and even through in some of the backups, just, it was out of domination, but you should do that. We'll learn a lot more about this team in week two. - Tulane 52, South Eastern Louisiana, zero. Coastal Carolina, 55, Jack's will say 27. - Yeah. - Oh, let's bet Jackson state. - I like Jackson state. They got worked. - Yeah, they did. - They got worked. - Toss is 62, North Western state 28. Kansas 48, Lindenwood three. Jalen Daniels looked alright. - Yeah, it was a little shaky to start, but once he got into the rhythm, the wide receivers were just running wide open. - UAB 41, Alcorn state three. Missouri 51, Murray state zero. Both got the cover there. Colorado 31, North Dakota state 26, Connor gets me again. - Yep, I mean. - Yay. - Tale as whole as time. - They, North Dakota state kind of back-dored it, but I will admit you were definitely on the right side 'cause this game was a lot closer than I anticipated it was. - Yeah, like out, take three people out of this game. Shoulders Sanders, Travis Hunter, and Jimmy Horn Jr. North Dakota state one of you. - I don't even know if you need to take Jimmy Horn out. But either way, not Dakota state wins that game. They just, it wasn't that they out-athleteed North Dakota state, it was just, it definitely isn't. - They were tougher. - I don't even think that, I just think that those two are so elite that they took Colorado over the top. I mean, what Travis Hunter was able to do, I think all but two snaps. I think it was like a total of 139 snaps. It's like, well, it's what we've talked about. The dude is just a fucking freak. What'd he end up with? Seven receptions, 132 yards, three touchdowns. - His fucking one touchdown catch was- - Insane. - Fucking incredible. - Insane. And then now, granted, I think I'm one, he did get away with a very big push. But still, even Shadur was just exceptional. Like he would roll out of the pocket. And even though there was that one that big dude was coming from behind and he just stood there and rifled it and took the shot, I was worried for his life. But just the presence to make that throw, knowing that you're gonna take a big shot, that he was phenomenal. But still, if it wasn't for those guys, I still think North Dakota State wins this game. But good on Colorado to end up winning this game. But I still have a little bit of worries about other things that offensive line still looks like it has issues. - Defensive line. - The defensive line got kind of pushed around. - Yeah, the run defense was terrible. - Yeah, so we'll see what happens. Utah 49, Southern Utah, zero. Utah gets a cover. This one does not happen very often, but North Carolina 19, Minnesota 17, Minnesota misses a game, like a 46 yarder to win the game outright. Me and Connor were able to middle this one. - Yeah. - Either two and a half from Minnesota, Connor had the one and a half from North Carolina. - Yeah. - We've tried this too many times and it never happens. - I still think technically this should count as a win for me considering the fact that Minnesota decided to fire off their fireworks after losing the game. - Yeah, that was tough. Like to homie on the fireworks link that it got through. - Yeah, that was bad. That's like a stereotypical guy who doesn't know sports and what it means and what matters and just fucking fired him off. Illinois 45 is generally zero. - ULM 30, Jackson State 14. Good for ULM because I thought this was a game you could get tripped up on. Same with this one here. San Jose State 42, Sac State 24. That game was close, but they were able to pull it off. Army 42, Lehigh 7. Oklahoma gets a cover for us. - Yes. - 51 to three against Temple. - Was a little bit lucky on the first half cover, but still, I don't look good, but Temple may be the worst team. - I can do more talk about this one for a minute. - Michigan State 16 FAU 10. - Aiden child looks so bad. - Yeah, it looked pretty terrible. - Yeah. - I don't know what that was. - Yeah, a lot of overthrows kind of want to give him benefit of doubt for not being familiar with his wide receivers, but. - Yeah, that's the team I'm going to be monitoring. Duke 26, Elon three. Do I hear something crazy? Malik Murphy started what? Four games last year and a game last year. Or this year, I mean, he has one rushing attempt. - Yeah, he's really. - He's a pocket passer. He's paid man. - Yeah, kind of is. - Like, he doesn't run. In the one rush attempt is not actually a rushing attempt. He got sacked, but in college football, that's considered rushing attempt. I just looked at him and his body and I just assumed he was camped in. - No, he's not. He is a sit in the pocket passer. - No, yeah, it's crazy because you can see his movement in the pocket at times, but he's always just looking downfield to throw the ball. - Wisconsin 28, Western Michigan 14. - Yeah, we'll see what they do against your Buckeyes this week. Oh, give me a cover here. TCU 34 stand for 27. They cover the nine at points. - I ended up taking the over in this game and unfortunately I didn't get to watch the whole game, but yeah. - Catch pretty easily. Navy 49, Bucknell 21. Pit 55, Kent State 24. What is this pit program turned into? I get the cover here, but pit through 48 passes and let up 24 points to Kent State. This is not your grandpa's pit team, apparently. - Apparently not, like I said, it's amazing while a little fire to the seat can do to a head coach, but yeah, it was kind of like watching that old picket offense with Addison, but. - I almost bet this one good thing I held off. - Maryland 50, Yukon 7. Edwards look good. - Yeah, but oh my God. - It's still Yukon, but. - It's still Yukon, but for the love of God, he got killed like a couple of times in this game. Like just took shots on slides. Like I'm, I think there were twice for Edwards and even once for MJ Morris, that they took some late shots on some slides and lost their helmets. It was insane. But yeah, Edwards did pretty good for Maryland. - Double in here for us. We gave out on the podcast. That was a two for Iowa 40, Illinois State 0. I had the points. All right, I played the points. Connor had the umpire. - Yeah, and. - Which one did you, what number did you get it? - 41 and a half. - You know, but at game, at kickoff, this was 37. So the over technically hit. - For me. - But we gave out the number earlier. - Yeah, just six and nothing, a half time. And then all of a sudden Iowa gains an offense and then McNamara's just throwing the ball downfield. What was the, oh, Reese Van Der Z. Absolute dog, five reception, 66 yards, two touchdowns. Jumping over dudes. It was kind of like watching Charlie Jones out there when he was, but wrong, wrong school. Well, actually started out at Iowa, but still just, they found an offense. It was, it was crazy, but just don't let the score fool you. It was six and nothing at half time. We'll see how good this offense is as the season goes on. - Louisville 62, Austin P zero. Gotta put music for this one though. (upbeat music) - Vanderbilt 34, Virginia Tech 27. What the hell happened? Diego fucking Pavia is what happened. - Yeah, essentially. I am a little bit worried 'cause I was riding high on Virginia Tech and it just, that it didn't start out good. Then it just looks like they were gonna rumble back and win this game, but drones struggle a little bit. I know it went 22 for 33 for 322 yards, but it was, it wasn't easy for Virginia Tech whatsoever. I mean, I was worried about this game, but Diego Pavia is... - He's a dog dude. He was the best player on that field. - 26 carries. Fucking insane for a quarterback. I am worried that it is just literally what they were running at New Mexico State, so we'll see how that goes through the SEC schedule, but I went to a two and a half. It was pretty fucking good. - Yeah, and I told you this the other day, like the way that Diego literally, like... - Well, it comes contact. - Yeah, and then gets up and talks shit to a linebacker in his face. That has to mean something in the locker room. You're not gonna lie, like, Diego, like he completely outplayed Kyron drones. And I was afraid about the big jump to the SEC. I think Vandy could fuck around and make a bowl game. I really do. Also, he hit Eli Stowers for a fucking touchdown too, with his old New Mexico State teammate, who was actually the backup for him for a while until he converted. Like, with that coaching staff, Jerry Kill there, and Diego, he's just a fucking warrior. And he's gonna leave it out on the field. So I'm definitely raising my stock for Vandy about a little bit. Tennessee 69, Chattanooga three, Niko, baby. - Niko is as advertised. 22 of 28, 314 yards, three touchdowns. I understand it's Chattanooga, but my God, the command of the offense already just looks, it looks like that for the first couple years of handling hooker in this offense. It just looks so fucking good. I am excited for the future for Tennessee. - Oklahoma State 44, South Coast State 20. That's a good win for Mike Gundy. As if Coach who refuses to take the noncon seriously. - Yeah, I kind of ate shit on this, taking our South Dakota State plus 10. It was a thorough ass kicking, in my opinion. They, Oklahoma State was the much better team, and it was promising to see that they showed that throughout the game. And Bowman looked pretty fucking good, 24 for 33, 244 or 245 yards and two touchdowns. Ollie Gordon, again, proven how he's one of the best running backs in the nation. 126 yards rushing, three touchdowns, just yeah. - The best running back in the nation. Cincinnati 38,020, Wazoo, dropped 70 on Portland State. They have now back-to-back years at 70 plus points scored on them in a game against an FBS opponent. Iowa State 21, North Dakota, three. Connor Cash is here, 31, Indiana 31, FIU seven. Did you catch this? - Yes, I did. Back door the hell out of it. Only covered by three points. What was it? I got pulled. - Damn, you guys have good numbers, dude. This closed at 25 and a half. Oh yeah, it was a touchdown with a minute six left. It was a 51 yarder. It was funny, I'm like, I'm watching this and I'm like, damn, I can't believe I'm taking. 'Cause Indiana looked like the better team, the whole fucking game. They just couldn't score. It kept turning it over on downs. I thought that they wouldn't, I thought they were gonna cover at ease, but it was a little bit of a struggle. And then 51 yarder after having a loss of 12 yards literally ripe before it. Yeah, that's why it was FIU was, went four round fourth down in Indiana, or in their own territory. Indiana basically gets it at the 40. Moves it back, I'm like thinking within the ball at the 40, I'm like, all right, we could possibly get something here. Moves this 12 yards, I'm like, I need a fucking miracle. Miracle happens just right down the middle. Yeah, I might, I've been a little bit high on Indiana. We'll see how this team goes or does going forward. - Yeah, I think those game one, a lot of transfers. FIU's not nearly as bad as I, I don't think they're that bad. - No, but the next stretch is still Western Illinois, you're hosting Western Illinois, then you have the Walling Travel to UCLA, but if you watch that game, who knows? - Yeah, I think they'll be okay. - Yeah, I would say 52 Akron, six Akron. Akron gets the cover, Ohio State started a little slow, but then they picked it up. I'm not taking anything away from it. - No. - No, but I will take one thing. Jeremiah Smith's so fucking good at football. - Yes. - He's that good at football. - It was like, that was the biggest thing was, I knew we were gonna end up winning. But it's just like finally being able to see some of the pieces that we brought in actually play, seeing Caleb Brown, or Caleb Downs flying all over the field was just so fun to watch. Jeremiah looked great at it. I was a little bit concerned. First play they do a screen pass him and he just hits him right in the chest, and I'm like, oh God. But then you figured it out very quickly. - Yeah, again, like I know Akron was able to move the ball a little bit, but give Jim more had credit. He's one of the best play callers in the nation, and it's a shame that he's kind of wasting away at Akron. - Air Force 21, Mary Mac 6, NIU 54, Western Illinois 15. Northwestern 13, Miami 6. My biggest takeaway from this game is keep that stadium. - Yeah, we kind of made fun of that stadium. It looks fucking nice. - Yeah, not to mention you were building an $800 million stadium that nobody's gonna go to your game. - Exactly. I thought that this was such a weird game that I never felt like I was out of it with Miami. I did have the money line, I didn't have the plus three, but I still, there are so many opportunities that I thought that they would come away with it, but yeah, give Northwestern credit for coming away with this win, but. - UTSA 28, Kennesaw say 16. I found out some kind of that I didn't know about Kennesaw 'cause the record was really bad in the FCS. Apparently they redshirted a shit ton of players last year. - Yeah, that was-- - I didn't find that. - Yeah, I did it and-- - I did not know that. - This is what happens when you don't do as much research, but yeah, hearing that and then seeing how they perform, they might not be as big of a push ever. - UTSA 38, Eastern Tennessee State 10, Texas 52, Colorado State 0. That was a shit kicking. - Yes. - That was a shit kicking. Oh, I thought I fucking had this one. I played the money line with Georgia Southern. Boise State 56, Georgia Southern 45. This was a lot closer than you think. Georgia State gave up about 15 fucking 70 yard rounds in this football game. Defense is bad, but the offensive Boise State looks really good. - Yeah, and I mean, when we talked about Boise State, I talked about them having the best running back and they might, in Ash and Gentry, 20 rashes, 267 yards, an average of 13.4 yards per carry in six touchdowns. - Yeah, that's pretty good. - I mean, I saw them in your fantasy team. - Yeah, but even gains as the back of 12 carries, 110 yards, still an average of 9.2 yards, rushing one touchdown. And saw some good things out of the wide receiving court for Boise State, but yeah, Georgia Southern's defense is still Swiss cheese. - Clay held, they'll never get that thing under control. - Yeah, they will be a big over team for the rest of the season. - South Carolina, 23 Old Dominion 19. - Outside of Dylan Stewart, who I think I wanted to play have a play on Old Dominion, Monteline. I should have just taken, I think this was like 21. - 20 and a half, that's what it was. - Yeah, I wish I would have done it, pulled the trigger on it. My concerns about South Carolina were kind of shown up in this game, Sellers 10 of 23 for 114 yards. Granted, the run game out of him and Sanders was pretty good. Dylan Stewart, oh my God. I wish I would watch this game just to see how good he would have been. Holy shit, he was as advertised. Like he earned the five star rating that he had coming out. Just absolutely running by the tackles was. - You look like an elite level COVID senior. - Yeah. - And he's a freshman. - I know, it's absolutely insane, but still. It was kind of funny, I was watching the highlights and thinking, oh, South Carolina only won this game by four. He's gonna be a big priority for teams in the transfer portal, this offseason. - I love it. Connery Cash here, North Texas, 52, South Alabama, 38. It went outright. - Yeah, this offense isn't missing a step even with Chandler Morris in there, 32 for 41, 415 yards and three touchdowns. You don't even need to worry about the run game, just threw it all over the place. They were just beautiful in Damon Ward, Jr. 12 receptions, 230 yards receiving and two touchdowns, just woo. - Cal 31 UC Davis 13, it's a little closer at half, but they didn't point away. If anything, you're telling him, all right, this season's loss, any chance of making the playoff is kind of out the door unless you make some miraculous run and win the ACC. Focus on getting that high school recruiting right, because that's the one thing that is kind of holding them back is you need to, with this roster, you need to have continual hits in the Portal, and you can't just live that way, because while you have the extremes of going undefeated in the ACC, you have the extreme downfalls that is this fucking season, and if you don't get control this season, it can spiral out of control. - I think the Trans supporter was very important, but it is not. - The way to live. - It is, yeah, it is not the foundation of a championship team. We've seen in basketball, we've seen in football. The Trans supporter is built for you to plug holes on your misses and recruiting. If you don't recruit well in high school, basketball is way easier to win with transfers, and we've not seen a single Goddamn transfer build team be any good. - Like you see a team like, I'll use Clemson for this example, you see that they have a good roster based on just doing high school recruiting. They're gonna keep themselves around because of their high school recruiting, and they do zero in the Portal. If they were to just do a little bit in the Portal, like a team like Georgia, or in Ohio State, that fills some holes that they might have, they would be in National Championship really high-enchant, and they probably have that game a lot closer. - You put Dabo and Norville together on a staff. They could build you a championship roster overnight. - Exactly. That would be a great team 'cause you're getting the wins in high school recruiting, but you're getting the misses out of the way with the Portal. But you just cannot continue to do this, and what worries me is they're getting the last two games. You have gotten gushed in the run game. I'm worried about in this bi-week just so much predication on the defense, defending the run, and you have Memphis on board who's gonna throw it all over the place. I'll have a play on it when the game rolls around. - Oh, yeah, there's three games. - Not that I'm confident in him, obviously. - I'm taking the 11.5 with BYU. - Shocker. - I have not been impressed with SMU yet. I think BYU went out and showed that they're a little more competent than we thought. You got to think, last year, they, down the stretch, they were so bad because the start of they brought in, keeping slow, this was hurt. And they were basically playing back up tall season long and they looked terrible. I don't know if I would want to look at a money line play on this one at all because I do think SMU's still out talented, but SMU's, this is a step up in competition still. This is a P4 score. So, I'm going to pick the points with the Cougars. The other game is Duke plus two and a half at Northwestern. I hate you in the whole art. I would be getting my butt. - That's fucked up. - You've been fun of my burnt skin. - Well, I mean, you are the one that set yourself on fire. So, but yeah, I don't have any plays for Friday, but still the look ahead for Saturday is looking very good. Got Texas at Michigan, Arkansas at Oklahoma State. Georgia Tech at Syracuse is going to be a fun game. Iowa State and Iowa in the Battle of the Sighawk, Tennessee versus NC State in that neutral site game in Charlotte, Colorado at Nebraska, App State at Clemson and Boise State at Oregon. We have some good games. - Not even mentioned like you have, did you say UTSA, Texas State? - No. - Like that's a really good, that's a fucking good game. - No, it's definitely going to be on one of the TVs. - Yeah. - It's going to be a good fucking weekend. - Oh, doing the fall weather is coming back. - It's going to be fucking sick. - We're going to get so fat. - You are. - We're both going to get that. I've got some food prepared. All right, we'll be back Friday with a week two locks in preview, until then we'll see you. - Peace!
