big games around the nation and get his thoughts and then at the bottom of the hour I got to tell you one of a guy that I've been doing for over 20 years world we're now on plastic surgeon a national champion an all-american center at Alabama by the way he was Broadway Joe Center I was Joe Nameth for those that don't know that he's author of many many books I cannot wait to talk with our good friend Dr. Gailin McCullough at the bottom of the hour you do not want to miss that segment I am telling you you will be much smarter after that segment Matt and you know because you have an opportunity to meet him not too long ago yeah he was the the short time I got to spend with him just brilliant stories a great life great success in his career and looking forward to talking with him today yeah no doubt about it and then we'll wrap up the show we'll be talking with David Musil we'll talk a little Georgia football with David and take a spin around the SEC but right now let's go to our guest line of welcome and our partner PGA teaching professional and the director of golf at Quarkery Golf Club sweet swinging Bobby Hall Bobby how you doing my man hey doing great beautiful day outside got a lot of going on here for a golf course and I'm just glad to be on the show here you and Matt looks forward to the segment from boomside kitchen and Burjos we are going to talk about that for sure and since you mentioned let me go ahead and run with that if you have an opportunity you're going to be in the Daphne area hey stop by and see Matt and his great staff at Burjos Cajun Grill the best and biggest back deck on the Gulf Coast you go out there and look over that beautiful Delta and enjoy some great food if you're going to be in the Fair Hope area be sure and visit boomside kitchen she is now at the pigly wiggly in that food court the food is spectacular she will give you that extra little love that goes with it that smile and we appreciate that all right Bobby let's talk real quick our good friend John Drago tournament director for the CJ cup Byron Nelson he is at the president's cup is one of the officials of course Jim Furek one of the captains for he is the captain for the US team and captain Mike Weir on that international team they got some pretty good players this should be a pretty good match up oh it's going to be a great match up and looking at the teams and the format yeah with Furek is captain he's got some great assistant Stuart Saint Justin Leonard and Kevin Pissner and of course our local favorite Brent Snattaker who brother lives here on the east and towards but I'm so glad Keegan Bradley made the team Sam Burns who practiced sometimes down here at the Grand Hotel Patrick Cantley winning part on the thing now just a great list of course Zander Xiaofeng's got a shuffle there as well against a pretty good European team Jason Day is in there and you can't count Adam Scott just playing very well I think we can Corey Connors they I think it's going to be a real good match looking forward to it John Drago it's on the National Rules Committee for the PGA he will be there and we'll get a report from him he's going to be there in Montreal John always has some great insight to what's going on and looking at 2026 president captain we're going to come down back to the United States and go to Medina up in Chicago so that'll be on the in the future in a couple years but I think it's going to be an outstanding president's cup and I'm certainly looking forward to it it's good entertainment yeah there's no doubt about it and you mentioned we'll be back in the United States in 2026 they are in Canada they're at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal Quebec Canada they will tee it up starting on Thursday and a guy that you didn't mention on that international team one of my all-time favorites former master's winner Hadaki Matsiyama let's not forget about him for sure because he's going to give some havoc in there look this'll be this'll be fun it has that you know it has that Ryder Cup feel to it I don't know for a lot of folks they say when you compare the two the Ryder Cup the President's Cup I think the Ryder Cup probably gets a little more attention than the President's Cup but I can promise you for both teams it's just as important I don't think there's a question about it yeah and I'm excited to see some of the older guys step up I mean Keegan was what with three weeks ago or so four weeks ago he was going to be one of the one of the coaches one of the captains and he said I'd rather play so he stepped his game because I'm going to be the cat that's for the Ryder Cup that's right and you got Adam Scott in there too so I'm excited about some of those older older golfers they're older golfers they're what did they're in their 40s early 40s I mean late 30s but it's good to see them back on top of their game and out there fighting so it's going to be fun to watch yeah no doubt no doubt hey Bobby real quick talk about the conditions out at Quilcreek oh they're great we played yesterday and Tom Joss my superintendent his staff got a really really good shape the rough is pretty thick here at Quilcreek which is kind of demanding you got to hit their way back here and so we've had a few people complaining about losing a golf ball out there but it's fair you got to hit it tied here at Quilcreek got to hit it in play but it's in great shape we got about 70 players out there this morning in our monthly MGA tournament today they're playing 9 holes best ball in 9 holes alternate shot playing the ball down because the golf course isn't that good a shame so we're proud of it got a lot going on here in the month of October we got the Lions Club coming up on October 6 we got an icicle and it's coming up in November and we're going to have a baseball tournament for the Fairhold High School baseball team with alumni and friends to raise gold money for their program coming into the spring so a lot going on at Quilcreek call us and make it see time 9 9 0 0 2 4 0 here is the beautiful them Fairhold. Bye Bobby before before we let you get out of here you know we have to have that tip of the week and you got it ready for us the tip of the week I was working with a couple of high school girls going to be trying out for the high school team and we were working on their on their rhythm today and taking a slow backswing like you see many of the girls on the LPGA Adecci Machiama and others but they said they're timing at the top with a nice slow takeaway and then have some acceleration through the golf ball and making your right shoulder just your right shoulder and your right hip if you can and Randy you and I need to do a lot of stretching you didn't mean that but get your right shoulder closer to the target when you finish your swing get your right shoulder closer to the target make that good rotation let more of your body do the work instead of your arms and hands but have that nice slow positive takeaway stay balanced and then accelerate through the golf swing to get your right shoulder closer to the target when you finish and we're going to strike it a lot better that's a great tip there's no no question about that I do want to mention real quick Southern Fairways golf tour played last Sunday at craft forums gotta say congratulations to Wesley Schroeder for picking up his first victory on the tour but I must tell you that I have never as much golf as I've played I have never played and the conditions that we played not only did we get soaking wet I have most of the time the golf course is that wet they say you got a leaf yeah okay it was wet that was we were we were we were hiding under trees and under umbrellas and still getting wet so it was a it was a crazy afternoon but credit to all the guys on the Southern Fairways golf tour as soon as that happened those those the state and hung out they took care of the course they stayed on the car paths they did a good job did a good job so Bob really good team out there and let me mention Bobby was our driver in our car Bobby was a driver and Bobby you did an exit job show for me around yes I did we did not get stuck well there wasn't one time we will talk about it in the Pacific they would have said that was a monsoon typhoon that we've been it was bad okay oh that's right that's right hey Bobby is always man thank you for hanging out with us and good luck on the tournament today look forward to getting out playing some golf with you here well as a matter of fact me and Bobby are heading west on Wednesday and we're going to be playing a ton of golf with our west coast correspondent Vin Goodman and looking forward to it we're looking forward to it should be a lot of fun Bobby is always brother thank you for hanging out good luck today and we'll talk with you soon come see the quail creek thank you guys for a great day all right buddy there you go bobby hall sweet swinging bobby all PGA teaching professional and director of golf at quail creek all right we take a time out when we come back Akkadian Cajun food there's no place better than Bujo's Cajun Grill and Matt what you got going on this this day and now now we've got one more day a week that you can enjoy Bujo's fine dining oh Saturday 10 to three on Sunday for that incredible Sunday brunch and now one more day to come out and have fun that is fantastic I know somebody that's going to be really happy about it is this guy right here he is a brand new inductee to the Moss Point High School Hall of Fame our good friend coach Barry Gibson coach how you doing pal hey Randy you're doing great buddy how you got we are doing fantastic let me say congratulations again you got inducted to the Moss Point Hall of Fame on Thursday night man it was it was fantastic congratulations they did a wonderful job and Barry I got to tell you and we even kind of talked about this for just a second Moss Point Mississippi for those of you along the Gulf Coast you think is a little dot in the road and it can be okay I mean it's not a big town y'all have produced some outstanding athletes I didn't know that you had that many professional baseball players football players basketball players that came from Moss Point Mississippi yeah you're right it will raise your eyebrows when you look at the list of great apples to come to there that's why you know I felt so humble to be included into the Hall of Fame with some of these great athletes it just comes into it for instance a lot of people don't know Devin Booker the leading store for the Phoenix Suns right now NBA is from Moss Point you know he's one of our guys you know there's just a whole list of them but yeah the little down has produced a lot of great athletes and we're very proud of our history in athletics and that just made Thursday night just that you know more special and leader well I can tell you it was it was a lot of fun thank you for the invite a lot of fun being there and you had all your family there and and just it was an honor to be there Barry let's let's talk a little let's talk a little football here we got you for a few minutes here we'll talk some SEC football we'll get into that game of the week of course that's Tennessee and Oklahoma coming up a little bit later but I want to turn and talk about some guys that well let me see the kind of on the losing streak if you will and that is Mississippi State and Florida whenever you look at Napier Napier he's definitely on the hot seat you got a new coach at Mississippi State they're one and two right now how do you see this game between Florida and Mississippi State playing out because I think really it's a must win for both teams well somebody's got to win in the first game of the season that's the end of the day you know when these two play because they're both over three and you know you got it you kind of give you know Mississippi State a little bit of a lead way there because it's the first you know with the flabby Napier's been there now for a while so you really don't get to be him you know much time so I think it's really it's more important for him to win but the here's still they're playing this thoughtful and short Vegas those cowbells get the ring in it's the stuff's place to play there I have played there and I know how that is to get so I kind of I'm kind of anxious to see what happens because I think Florida is a team of how many players they're in the back I mean they've got to win and they couldn't say it's time to be also should be an interesting game but they all play in the start part place to play yeah and let me just look real quick uh Mississippi State does have one victory the first win of the year came on their first game they they defeated eastern Kentucky I think it was like 56-7 a lot it was a blowout yeah yeah so but uh yeah but nonetheless they have got I think with a new coach he's got yeah he's got a he's got a he's got to get a win here Napier is is a must win for Florida they've got to turn it around and and uh and get a victory for him to and he may already be going I mean I think you've heard folks saying that that he is going there they're getting the the paycheck ready and gathering the money and getting him out of there and it'll be interesting too comes back Kentucky's gonna take on Ohio that's the University of Ohio not Ohio State but uh Kentucky last week if you remember uh I had made the comment before we got off the air I said guys I'm telling you something in my stomach is saying there's something gonna happen today with Georgia and I kind of got me up a little bit if you remember that and and by golly they just pulled it out by a point 13 12 the final in that uh Kentucky almost gets that victory what what do you how do you see Kentucky work in the rest of this year I think they gained a lot of confidence last week playing Georgia you know taking them to the wire and probably should have won the ball game so yeah I remember you saying that Randy about this something you felt about that Kentucky team and uh they're kind of putting it together so I think they're gonna be a team you don't have to deal with because they're getting better every week so I think you know later on thinking they're gonna be a really good team well visit with coach Barry Gibson retired high school coach retired college coach now a Hall of Famer uh man I know you got a question well now I was just thinking about that Kentucky game last week and how how well they played and that's that's what two three years in a row now this Kentucky team has really given some uh some big SEC uh teams a run and it was really neat to see last week I think it's uh uh a little dangerous now uh knowing that Georgia came close to losing and now they got a week off to sit there and uh and really stew about it before they meet Alabama uh next next Saturday so that's gonna be an interesting one that will be all eyes will be on that uh another good game tonight though you talked about earlier Tennessee and Oklahoma that is going to be huge uh Tennessee playing at Oklahoma uh they're gonna have about six and a half points spread I think uh Tennessee's favored by six and a half dude that's gonna be a game yeah hey hey and let's talk a bit a little bit about that Barry you you were on that sideline with coach Johnny Majors you got an SEC ring uh that you were proudly talk about this game Tennessee comes in ranked six uh six they're in Norman Oklahoma and Memorial Stadium taking on that number 15 Oklahoma team how do you see this ballgame I think Tennessee certainly has the upper as you mentioned uh Matt I think they got the upper hand on this one so I I've absolutely and I think you spread a little light uh you know they're favored since this is about six but I think it's going to be worth it Matt uh I think it's going to be about 21 I mean I'm just going to go ahead and put it out there right now because they uh they're averaging over 60 points a game all right they have already rushed for over a thousand yards everybody thinks Tennessee goes to all of the yard Randy and Matt but and they do but their rushing attack has really come around and they've already rushed for over a thousand yards in three games you know that's that's pretty that's pretty real strong and um they're averaging over 600 yards of options again I know Oklahoma's not for their defense well you know they better be uh because they're about the best options they've seen all year and uh I just think uh even though they all played in Norman Tennessee go then and then I don't think this freaks I think they went big now Barry I I don't doubt uh that there's potential for Tennessee to do just what you're talking about but I wonder you know they haven't really played a stellar team yet they they played Chattanooga to start the season then NC State and it can't stay last week where they won 71 nothing you wonder if Oklahoma's defense can't scare them a little bit getting a little challenge that they haven't experienced uh yet this season well you know and that is a good point but you don't average over 600 yards a game I mean nobody's on the field that's hard to do if you're the only team on the field and uh there's they're strong and uh 60 points a game but uh you're you're right this is gonna be their service test uh of so far as well man I agree but uh I just I just think Tennessee has put it all together and here's the thing nobody talks about it's Tennessee's defense those have that deep line their front seven it's probably as good as anybody they know in the SEC right now they can run they're quick they're aggressive nobody ever talks about them but Tennessee can play some defense as well you listen they're only giving up a little over four points a game so uh yeah you that defense is gonna be tough now look when you go into Norman, Oklahoma anytime you take on that sooner team no matter who's coaching it if it's Venable whoever the coach is it's going to be tough to play in Norman, Oklahoma but uh yeah we're gonna give we're gonna give the favor to uh to Tennessee for sure business Barry Gibbs you got about two minutes left here Barry I'm gonna turn real quick and uh and talk obviously Alabama has a weekend off another big game for those near us is that Arkansas Auburn game of course Sam Pittman needing a win Auburn got the win last week but how impressive was that win was it I think today's gonna be a a tall tale for that Auburn Tiger team it was Arkansas's physical and uh I think with Bobby Strino calling play for Arkansas now their offensive got it's gotten a lot more balanced and it just a lot better so I think Auburn's defense is gonna have the answer for Arkansas's offense and uh you know who knows in this one I mean you know Auburn's over the quarterback you know young kid he did well last week uh but I don't know I this is a calling clip for me I know they're the thing that's uh is good problems they're playing at Auburn that's always uh in the day but Arkansas is just one of those things you know you just don't sleep on them now they'll they'll hit you in the mouth and you know before you know you look up in the you know there's 14 lessons and so you gotta you gotta watch them but I think it's gonna be a really good game yeah Hank Brown is uh is a new quarterback the freshman quarterback in there and of course whenever you look at Auburn I mean they got that win against Alabama A&M in the first game 73-3 the final that California comes in to feed some unexpectedly 21-14 and then they beat New Mexico last week 45-19 they're averaging somewhere uh around 40 based on that around 44 points a game giving up a little more than 14 points a game they're gonna have to play their best to to beat Arkansas no matter what level of sportsmanship Arkansas comes in with Arkansas has to play their very best to get a win okay so I don't think there's a question about that so real quick very before we let you go uh well look we're out of time we're you're gonna be back on in a week or two so I got about a thousand questions I want to ask you all right so we'll go from there hey congratulations thank you both thank you so much all right buddy there you go coach Barry Gibson all right we take the time out when we come back we visit we're with a national champion an all-american senator at Alabama dr. Gala McCulloch is up next right here on Southern Fairways this is NSL ticker Robbie Gold when I'm along the Gulf Coast you better believe I'm with the Southern Fairways Radio your host Randy Bergen situated soft and sports information from Randy and all his guests enjoy sports updates scores and a few laughs with one of the most entertaining shows in radio I'm Robbie Gold and I hope you're having a great day happy school boy oh Robbie good stuff right there welcome back to Southern Fairways sports radio we're glad to have you on board with us I am Randy Bergen joined by Matt Brant one of the proprietors of bujors cage and grill right there on highway 98 just on the beautiful mobile delta if you have an opportunity go by and visit Matt his great staff the food is fantastic and uh one of my favorites Matt and you know it is the voodoo pasta with the blackened alligator it is guys I'm telling you alligator like you've never had before do give it a try hey we are happy to have this fellow on the phone with us a good friend been a friend for many many years world renowned plastic surgeon national champion all-american senator at Alabama the author of many wonderful books dr. Gala McCulloch on the line with us dr. it is always good to to have you on it's been a little while did get to see you not too long ago but thank you for taking time to be with us today Randy thank you very much it's always a pleasure to be on your show and to see you and talk to you as you said we have been friends for a long time you know we have and there was a many years ago we get very busy as we all know and but there was a time I got to come and sit in your office and you told me so many wonderful stories about coach Bryant and and I guess one of the things that I would like to uh we could go in a million different directions there's no doubt but I want to start because we have a limited time I want to start with some comparisons you were part of the coach Bryant coach Perkins transition that happened some 41 years ago when there've been several coaching changes at Alabama since then as we all know but this year we saw coach Sabin retire and Alabama hires coach Galen DeBore now this coaching transition feels so much like what the Alabama and the university and the Alabama fans went through over 40 years ago my question is how do you compare these two transitions are are they similar in your opinion no Randy there's very little similarity between the two first of all coach Bryant was not well coach Bryant did not want to retire coach Bryant had to retire he was not in good health for the last two three years of his life and probably shortened his life because he extended his career but he was encouraged by so many of his former players and former coaches to break the record and he had serious heart disease serious heart problems and he would he was asked during the press conference when he announced his retirement somebody said coach what will you be what are you going to do now that you're no longer coaching and very seriously he looked at that guy and he said I probably dead in 30 days and he died exactly 30 days from that statement and so the difference there is it goes front I mean coach Sabin's well coach is coach Sabin is at the prime of his career it could have stayed on and probably one another I don't know maybe another national championship or several championships and also coach Sabin was part of the process I mean there were lots of conversations that went back and forth between the powers that be and there was no committee now when I was part of the coach Bryant transition the president university Dr. Joy of Thomas appointed a committee to interview the candidates and then to make recommendations and I was part of that committee and actually I was the liaison between the potential candidates and the university of Alabama in this situation it was a very short committee very small committee consisted of Greg Byrne the athletic director and excitement and so that was one of the major differences there and but the fact that coach Bryant was not around to be part of the transition process and he had predicted he told me before he announced his retirement he said Gailin I've got to get out he said Alabama's going to be in for some bad times and he said our fans aren't going to understand why and so coach Sabin has been around to help the process the transition process and basically to put his staff of approval on the on the selection of his predecessor or his successor I should say so there there's several differences there in the transition and I think that it's going to be easier for coach to bore now Alabama standards are high and if he doesn't win he'll be under a great deal of pressure but at least you've got coach Sabin there and Greg Byrne there to maybe explain to some of the questioners why things may not be going as expected you know and that's that's actually leads right into my second question here is we're visiting with Dr. Gailin McCullough uh as as a former player as an all-american there at uh at Alabama national champion my question is can the board give the fans and the school what they want is that possible yeah it he wins um he wins some some championships he will give a he gives the fans exactly what they want but the standard aside Alabama it always has been and hopefully it always will be but the fans have to also understand that we're in a different era right now football has changed dramatically over the last four or five years it's not the same game that I played or the fans watched even five or six years ago the NIL thing is a completely different situation it's it's spelled the end of amateur sports now college football is my pro the coaches are no longer dealing directly with the players or the players families they're dealing with agents these players that particularly the the five-star and four-star players get agents all the way back into high school I understand now that there are some high-profile five-star players that are demanding as much as five thousand dollars to be paid to them for a visit for for the visit to come to the university they are requiring money and that's just so strange it's just hard for me to fathom quite frankly and and the thing about it is that agents get their income from a percentage of the monies that they raise for the players so it's an agent's best interest for the player not to be committed to a particularly university for a long period of time but to be a a commodity that can be traded on the open market and every time there's a transaction and the player moves from one place to the other or the player comes back in and requests more money on the NIL the agents the ones that's benefiting from that as much as anything you know I'm not sure that everybody understands yeah and we're visiting with Dr. Genna McCullough and I'll tell you that's exactly where I wanted to head was an NIL you know and and I think we all agree when you played it was for the love of the game and to get a you know a paid education if you were able to get a scholarship and with NIL today a question I have is can smaller smaller schools compete to get the top athletes when championship championships at at what point do we either cap these money deals because I don't think there's any way we can put the genie back in the bottle can we no I don't think so you're said what you said it very well once the genie's out of the bottle you can put it back in so the question is how can we how can we learn to live with it what parameters need to be set in place in order to make it make sense and logic because it's really no logic involved right now I mean I know that the two players that transferred I'm not let me say this I don't know this for a fact but I am told that the two players that transferred one to Texas and one to Ohio State were given somewhere in the range of seven hundred thousand dollars per year to transfer up there one of them got a new Maserati in addition to that so how can the smaller schools compete with that they can't and I think I heard someone say that maybe the Ohio State's roster right now is costing about twenty million dollars a year in NIL money so they better win some championships because if they don't the fans aren't going to tolerate that very much the the alongside that are donating money to the NIL process yeah wow that's uh that's incredible we're visiting with Dr. Gala McCull a renowned world renowned plastic surgeon national champion at Alabama all American Center at Alabama and the author of many books which we're going to get into that in just a second but man I know you've got a question hey Dr. McCull a great great to have you on really enjoyed meeting you a few months back and learning a little bit from you you know we talk about this NIL stuff and see how players are going to where the money is now as opposed to going where the leadership is now and and where they can learn and become better people in society after they graduate and so on and so forth you had a really really great council you had the opportunity to play with the Dallas Cowboys and you you took a different direction because of some of the leadership and some of the the advice that you got can you tell us a little bit about that well I can and actually coach save and address this very briefly this morning on game day I was walking through the room and saw him and somebody asking about the NIL situation and he said something to the effect that what these what these schools need to do and he was basically saying this is what we did at Alabama is to create value for the player value that's not only short-term but long-term value you know teach them principles teach them how to succeed in the game of life not just on the football field and so when the value has a dollar mark on it then it's open to the highest bidder and these players don't don't really learn how to develop connectivity or allegiance to any particular school and they'll do the same thing in the future when it comes to businesses so sometimes you make a you take the the smart and long road forward that I was drafted by the Cowboys and I was offered a contract that bonus money alone would have financed my entire medical school education if I didn't make the team I still had that money and I went to coach Brian and I asked him I had been to a lot of different people or I said coach what do you think and I said the Cowboys are really pressing me for a decision and he's asking me a question that I don't know that I've ever been asked before or since and it's something that I hope other athletes will consider he looked me in the eye and he said Gailin can you live without football well nobody never asked me that and I thought for a few seconds then I said yes sir I think I can and he said well you've got a national championship ring on your finger you made an all-American team and I can tell you I'll tell you you can play and then it fell so you've got nothing to prove so my recommendation is go to medical school get your medical degree and that was the most that was the wisest advice that I had ever received from anybody about the whole play for play play for pay process and so I took his advice and looking back on it yeah I wish I'd have played for a year or so and then it fell so I can say I did but I look around at my teammates now some of them are dead many of them have dementia because they continued to play for several years the brain injuries that had hips replacement shoulders replacement and I'm still able to walk upright and do virtually everything I could do 30 years ago so that you have to sometimes look at the long-term consequences of your decisions and I just am not sure that these players today are being taught that not certainly not by the agents and certainly not by a lot of the people surrounding them I think that the wiser coaches the coach savings of the world are teaching that but I'm afraid that so many other coaches aren't they're looking to protect their jobs and it's getting to the point where it's all about money and that's a sad sad situation yeah there's no no question about that we're visiting with Dr. Gayle McCullough Doc we got about about a minute left here and by the way I think your decision turned out to be a very good decision for you yeah I real quick let's talk about you got a lot of books out I've got but I personally have the long shot of coach Paul Bear Brian and the victory in the game of life both of those are my favorite books that I've read other than Bible of course but what what is your favorite book that you wrote and why and we got about a about a minute left here well I think my favorite book is the Bryant Bryant the long shot of coach Paul Bear Bryant because I was able to to share with other people things I learned from him and things that apply to the game of life not just the game of football and then I went through the process and we talked about about the change in coaching and why he why he decided to retire and my relationship with him later in life and that's probably I had I had more gratification in writing that book I recently wrote about a year or so ago the saving process the Bryant promise and I I compare I don't like to maybe I don't like to use the word compare but I showed the similarities between coach savings process and coach Bryant's promise and very quickly I'll tell you about coach price promise he said to all of us players if you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride and never quit you will be a winner the price of the victory is high but so were the rewards that was the promise and that was the promise he made to us and it was a promise kept wow wow good stuff dr. McCullough it is a pleasure to have you on I want to have you back on we've got to do a couple of podcasts in the here in the future as well but thank you for taking time to be with us okay always a pleasure and you met so far it's talking to you again sometime there you go dr. Gayle McCullough one of the very best no doubt about it we take a quick time out more southern fairway sports radio right after this I want to tell you what that is a that was fun talking with coach dr. Gayle McCullough look I'm gonna tell you didn't get any better than than that fellow right there and as I was telling you during the break mat been in his office many many days where we sit in his office he just tell me stories about coach brian about football players of course he was the center for joe nameth that by itself is a show that we will have to do at some point but we're gonna have him back on we're gonna do a podcast with him and and you will not want to miss it this guy is he is as good as they get he is as professional as they get there and he has been a leader of a lot of people and i'm telling you anytime you could be around dr. Gayle McCullough if you have that opportunity you need to take advantage of it i'll tell you what we've typically just touched base on his his insight and and knowledge he gained from his college and professional well mostly college career and football and the coach he's been around but we have never touched on his actual medical career oh no thanks he's learned there from people around him so when i tell you world we're now on there's a reason for that okay then that'll be part of the podcast for sure but we certainly welcome you back to southern fairway sports radio man this time is flying bob i got to thank some great sponsors of the show thanks to mitch mcconle and mcconle out of motive tricks on golf matt with bujose cage grille glennley scott club in foley ben murphy roofing and also the psor radio network all right let's go back to our phone lines real quick and welcome in well i thought we had david on with us maybe we'll we'll get him back on here in just a second but okay david david is on with us david mutual the general manager glennley scott flub on the line with us right now david how you doing my man do a great randy got a busy day here at the club got some in club chimp chip going on on doing some vista and junior golf league on the lake so we've got a lot happening on a pretty day so if you guys are doing well we're doing well david david i'll tell you it doesn't matter it can be it can be a uh sunday night and david is busy i'm i'm telling this man is always always on the go no doubt about you do a great job there at glenn lakes but uh a big football fanatic as as we know uh klimson guy you you like klimson you you know georgia fella we're gonna talk a little bit about both of those of course i think klimson they need to win they're one-in-one right now they're gonna take on north kelana state who is two and more uh it's been a rough start for north kelana state following that fifty one ten blowout loss against tennessee but luxury that losing an attack loss but hey klimson what do they look like the true freshman cj bailey will start against klimson what do you think i think i think klimson's gonna play well you know that i was gonna say that's a big win against apple at u-state then you saw it in south alabama win to jell of apple at u-state so it's good for credibility but you know it did look good last week and i think i'll take that momentum into this week and win i think they win in a close one but i think that they that they they pull it out uh big game uh up on the planes today at at 230 auburn and arkansas course arkansas comes in two and one auburn has the same uh has the same record at two and one they bring in a freshman quarterback in hank brown auburn does he gets the win last week against new mexico this will be a little bit different as you jump into scc play how do you see that game playing out absolutely what you start getting into the f_e_p_ schedule that everything gets tougher gets more physical more pressure uh i hope he i'm pulling for a Auburn to pull it out i'm going to say Auburn wins in a close one i'd say 31 28 um i i you know arkansas freaked out i don't you know i think it's gonna be i think it freaked up for him but i'm i'm gonna kind of go with with hoping that the young quarterback browns can do something well today yeah uh and look i think sam pippman as we've talked about a bunch of coaches right now on the hot seat of course napier in florida who's gonna have a he's got to go against miss if he stayed today but i think uh sam pippman's kind of on that on that hot seat as well uh we'll we'll we'll see now they got two wins of course they beat uh what university of arkansas oklahoma state they beat uab in a close game that was like a 37 10 point 10 point game i believe 37 27 uh the final in that arkansas uab game so i think he's a little on the hot seat but we'll we'll see they get into that sec play arkansas uab today they got texas a&m next week they got tennessee lsu they got a big run going here uh coming up after this arkansas uab game but man i know we're visiting with david muisrael general manager glenn lake's golf club we're not talking golf we're talking football and uh it is that time of year it is that time of year david always good to have you on uh always like seeing at the restaurant too thank you for always coming out and supporting us uh got to ask her to talk we we talked to uh talk to coach berry gibson a little while ago and uh had to talk about the big game tonight tennessee and oklahoma and he got we got his thoughts he's he's big on tennessee like by 21 points uh i was a little shocked by that but berry knows his stuff what are you thinking about that game i think tennessee stuff i think if there don't be one to watch you know that all you hear about is you know georgia and georgia and alabama and yeah texas and i i wouldn't uh overlook tennessee i'm i'm with him i think that uh that tennessee is gonna uh come put it on but what we'll see uh the interesting with oklahoma this is kind of your your meat of the get meat game of the s_e_c_ starting out here with the new uh expanded s_e_c_ to see see what happens tonight but i'm them i think i think tennessee come put it on uh we're visiting with david museal general manager glenn lake's course at tennessee oklahoma home of game on abc tonight uh our time is six thirty seven thirty eastern of course tennessee's got that that quarterback nico we'll just call him nico and uh we're not david you can you can pronounce the last name and we'll have a lava uh i'm not even attempting so we're listening to nico he's good he is good well and i do too i think uh tennessee's coming yeah there i mean they're averaging a little over 33 points a game almost 34 points a game only giving up like 11 points a game so the defense is playing extremely well for tennessee they got the off-bent rolling uh this is a team if you're in the s_e_c_ that doesn't matter who where you are you need to keep your own tennessee i think they are there for real this year and they're going to give a lot of teams having hmm well i agree i agree i think that they're i think they're going to be tough and like i said i think you're they're getting overlooked a little bit with with uh you know texas george and alabama which are you know i think at this point are all not quite sure who their identity is yet we will find out next week to care alone well we will and i'll tell you something else we'll find out next week georgia georgia will will travel over to t-town to take on the crimson tide of course the only two losses since 2020 for georgia have come from wait wait for it there it is alabama and uh i listen i think this is going to be a great game of course we know uh president trump former president trump's going to be at that ballgame a lot of security will be there but georgia's going to roll in there i said it last week i thought georgia's got some stumbling blocks they almost got beat by kentucky i think alabama turns the turns the volume up a little bit and i'm giving alabama the win next week both teams have the weekend off right yeah so well i think that this for georgia has shaped up just right i think that last week that uh with that 13 to 12 go into kentucky and in struggling as much as they did that that gets curbing say look guys going on the road in the SEC kentucky and look what happened to you you know what alabama can do to you and i think that that gets them fired up oh alabama just coming off that big roadwind going to wisconsin you know that they played fantastic i think it all shaped stuff that that curby has them ready to go and georgia wins in the blossom 27 25 oh my goodness everybody just went to pincicola to play golf so you know it's it's amazing it's amazing how all of us down here the south are committed to these big games i was looking at the sales volume at boudreau's last year when mama and georgia played for the SEC championship and we did about uh 80 percent less than a normal saturday yeah i mean the city will shut down but this but this this next week it's probably going to be the same thing so if you're not into alabama or georgia this is a time to come to boudreau next saturday there you go it's going to be a fun game next three and really will six thirty kickoff six thirty yeah this perfect for golf because you know we i hate one o'clock big alabama games you know we need those six thirty seven so so what our plan is because we'll be on the very west west yes you will west of the west coast uh we're going to get up play a little golf and uh it'll be just about little about noontime maybe two o'clock they'll finish our round our golf and then we'll watch that alabama georgia game so yeah they're going to be on the the uh the pac- pacific time or right in the middle of the right in the middle city we won't hear the end of this hey dave always good day baby good to have you on okay all right buddy they believe they've used it right there the general manager glenn likes hey you want to go play some good golf you want to have fun go see david and glenn
