This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Even the boys are back and it is time for our post Arizona pre BYU Q&A episode, got some good ones from everyone. I hope everyone had a great Monday. And boy, I'm counting down the days to Thursday. That's when I'll be flying out to Utah, looking forward to this game on Saturday vs BYU. Even though it's entirely too late at night, I'm going to have to find some of the only coffee in Provo, Utah in the entire town before that one. But it's going to be fun. I hope you guys had a good Monday. Get ready for a Tuesday. Again, as always, tomorrow will be our game preview where we will get our keys to V. Recap all the press availability from Monday. So yesterday, as you guys are listening to this, I am recording this on Sunday late morning as I will be getting back home all day on Monday. So little recording stuff. So if there's anything too crazy that pops off on Monday, forgive me. We will talk about later this week. Rankings haven't come out yet. I'm hoping case it moves up a couple spots. I think they should. I see some of the stuff on Twitter, and again, this is all late news because they'll all be out. But man, I feel like case it's not getting the benefit of absolutely destroying an Arizona team that just a week ago, everyone thought was a top 20 team. It's funny how that works, but hey, we will move on. It'll be good. Got some great questions, some of the usual suspects and some really good ones from some new question-askers as well. So it's going to be great. We'll start off real quick before we get into the questions. Charlie Hassel, get over to our Twitter account. We are running a giveaway this week. We'll announce it on Friday. Two t-shirts and two tickets to the case at Oklahoma State Game next week should be an absolute crazy one once again. And Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Read, tweet, follow. There'll be some prompt. Haven't decided what the prompt is. But yeah, that's what we'll be doing. Should be a good one. Shout to our friends at Charlie Hassel, always hooking us up. Charlie Hassel, vintage, made fresh. Of course, Kansas City football collection, the Crown Town Collection, officially licensed college gear, officially licensed sporting Kansas City and Kansas City current gear. Kansas City icon stuff, the iconic Kansas City heart as well. Charlie Hassel, truly the best in the business. All right, we got a lot of good questions. We're starting off with our guy, Ethan Brown, and this is actually a funny one. This is a very funny one because I got the text as well. I saw all the stuff on Twitter. I heard the whispers. I don't know who started the rumor, but to the best of my knowledge, there was no plan for any alternate uniforms. There was no plan for the script cats helmet. I'm not like kudos to whoever started that because it was spreading, you know, Snapchat was talking about. Twitter was talking about it. Everyone was whispering about, "Oh, the cat's home. The cat's home." All this stuff, script cats for script cats. No. It was never the plan. I get why people want them. They're fine. They're cool. But it was never the plan. It was never the plan. It was a Twitter rumor that ran rampant. So, no, it was never, never in the plan. And then he asked, "Why can't we have fun?" Look, players are superstitious. I get that. I know, like I'm pretty sure Avery has said, like in some press availability, that he wants to break out the all whites. Obviously, it will not be versus BYU because BYU is wearing throwback white uniforms. So, K-State will be wearing their purple uniforms on the road. Since we're on the road, maybe, maybe? Maybe? Question mark? Maybe you break out white helmets, white pants? I probably wouldn't because I think BYU is doing white helmets, white pants. So, you know, keep as much contrast as you can between the two uniforms. Maybe we'll see it this year. I mean, maybe we'll see helmets and pants, white helmets and pants later this season. I don't know. Truthfully, don't know for you folks. Why can't we have fun? I mean, look, I was like, "You guys want." It doesn't bother me anymore. The older I get, the less I care about the uniforms and when they wear them. I like to critique them. I have opinions, as you guys heard, when we got the new basketball uniforms. So, it's not like I don't have opinions anymore, but it doesn't really bother me. I don't really have strong feelings. I just have strong opinions. He also asks, "What qualifies as being a pumpkin boy? Can I be a pumpkin man or a brewski bro or a logger little guy?" He says, "Use this as a segue." I mean, do you guys want me to do Manhattan Brewing Company this early? Both sponsors this early? Well, first off, look, pumpkin boy, it's a lifestyle. If you like the pumpkin flavor stuff, it's just a term I coined. You don't have to join if you don't want to, but Manhattan Brewing Company does have the best pumpkin beer truthfully in the world. So, I don't have the untapped app anymore. I mean, I used to be obsessed with that logging every single beer I've ever had. But I guarantee I've had over 50 pumpkin beers. Easy. Maybe getting close to 100. Manhattan Brewing Company's Pumpkin Batch legitimately is my favorite one. I would just talk it up. You know, if I didn't think it was number one, I truly think it's number one. It is delicious. It has the perfect amount of spice, the perfect amount of sweet, the perfect amount of actual pumpkin. It balances everything out. Pumpkin Batch is delicious. Manhattan Brewing Company is delicious. It is the best brewery in the state of Kansas. If you live in the great state of Kansas, make sure you're talking to your local liquor store and that they are stocking four packs for you guys. I promise. I promise they want to sell you that beer. You want to buy it. Just talk to them. Be nice. Got to be firm. Maybe you got to ask a couple of times. I've heard countless success stories. Just talk to them. So, there's the segue. Boom, our two big sponsors, not even 10 minutes in. So, sorry or you're welcome. Colton Cooper asks, now that the non-con is over, who do I think is the MVP of this? Who do I think will be the MVP of the season? Offense and defense. Hmm. That's a good one. So, if you're asking me the MVP through three games, offense, I would say, DJ Get-Ins on defense. I would probably go Austin, Romaine. But if you're saying projected out rest of the season, hmm. I mean, I still think it'll be Avery on offense if you're projecting it out. Like, if you're saying, hey, we now have seen three games, make my pick. I think I would say Avery Johnson still on offense. Defense, I might go branded Mott. Mott has had a very good start to the season. So, I might switch it from Desmond Purnell to Mott. Purnell had a massive first game. Didn't do a ton, verse two. Lightning was assignment Sam, but didn't do a ton. He had a good game versus Arizona. Got a tackle for loss. He was flying around. But I think I might go branded Mott to be the guy moving forward. I think he's had a great start to the season. I think he can keep it up. So, that's where I'm going to go right now, Colton. Thanks for that question. Unhinged, KSU, what is one thing from that game we can improve on? So, there's a lot. Look, again, I said in the game review, it was a very good game. It was not a perfect game by any means. I'll give one on each side of the ball on offense. I do think they need to find the rhythm a little bit quicker. Again, it is a little unfair because you had four, no, you had three total possessions. Because of the kick return and just a lot of long drives by both teams. The first one is a touchdown. The second one, you stall out. You have to kick a long field going. You didn't get it. And then the time management costs you at the end. So, actually, no, the one thing on offense that you can improve on from that first game is clock management end of half situations. So, that's the thing on offense. On defense, I think it is, again, a very good performance. But we still got hurt a little bit for those long crossing patterns where you run a, you know, a post with not a lot of depth. I don't know if it's a true cross or whatever you want to call it. Outside, wide receiver, five yards and then just slanting across the middle of the field. A couple big plays gave up there. So, I'd say that for defense. And then for special teams, again, I'm not concerned about Chris Tennant. And we'll actually get to that question next. We'll just kind of jump ahead to power cat Ryan. Where is that? All right, there we go. I didn't like that he missed that kick. So, power cat Ryan, he had a few questions. We're going to this one because it's an easy segue. He asked, "When do we start worrying about the kicking game?" I'm not there yet, but I'm also, look, I try my best. I try my best to just give my opinion, not tell folks what you should or shouldn't do. I'm not perfect. I am not perfect. I sometimes say, "Hey, you guys should do this. You guys should do this." Look, try not to do that, but sometimes I do. If you want to worry about it, that's fine. Missing kicks and back-to-back weeks isn't fun. The one on Friday was a lot more makeable. I expected him to make that. I wanted him to make that. It is not like the Tulane Miss. The Tulane Miss, before he even kicked it, I said it. I put it out on Twitter. I was giving him a free pass. I definitely would have liked more yardage there. There was no world where I thought he was going to hit that kick in Tulane. I wanted to tend it to hit that kick on Friday night. I thought he should have been dealing with a crosswind, but it wasn't anything crazy. It was not anything that a solid college kicker shouldn't be able to deal with. I'm a little disappointed in that miss. I guess the threshold for worried also has to come into play here. We want to get technical with wording and all that type of stuff. If tenant misses, in the next two weeks, if he misses two more, should be make field goals. Two more where it's like, "Man, I'm disappointed he missed that." You're not giving a free pass, so it's not a 50-yarder. You're not dealing with crazy wind or weather versus BYU and Oklahoma State. If he misses two more, I'd say, "Back after the season, we're about at the midway point. I'm a little worried. I'm going to be a little nervous when I see him kicking a field goal in a big spot." I might be giving Chris Tenet too much grace for some of you folks. For some of you folks, I would imagine all it took is that one kick versus zone on your side, "All right, I'm worried. I'm back on the, I'm worried about tenant train." I would hope that no one was there, verse two lane. I would hope that no one held a 50-plus yarder going against wind. What field? I would hope no one would hold that one against him. If you want to jump off the train, if you want to say, "All right, now I'm worried about Chris Tenet again," after that, what was it, was it a 43 yard mess? I can't quite remember how long it was, but if you want to worry about that mess, I'm not going to stop you. I'm not going to say you're wrong. You can have your opinions on your own confidence level in Chris Tenet, but I still feel pretty good when I see him going out there. That's why I was surprised by that mess. Again, I know it's like a joke. It's like a meme. It's like college kickers, and we've seen some big kicks. Shout out to Iowa State's kicker, hit a 53 yarder to beat Iowa back in week two. But I mean, there's still college kickers. I mean, it's still a guy who, it's still a tough position. It's a big mental challenge, and at the end of the day, it's still a college kicker. If you look around the landscape of college football, I'd still take Chris Tenet over the majority of kickers kicking an FPS football right now. There's my take on that, but also I'm not going to get mad at you guys if you do get a little worried after that's Arizona mess. We got four questions from Steve Z across two tweets. The first two are kind of off topic. The next two are on topic. The first one is I am assigned a new pet that cannot be a dog. What am I getting? It has to be a pet with a life expectancy over 10 years, so no goldfish that died two days after getting it to avoid the spirit of the question. So I am going to go with a cat. Not a cat guy, famously not a cat guy. But look, I don't want lizards. I don't want snakes. I don't want salamanders. I don't want a box turtle. I don't want a bird. Actually the only viable option is a cat. Now if you all of a sudden give me Jeff Bezos money, I might get a sea otter enclosure and like a live in team of marine biologists to take care of them because I love sea otters. Maybe seals, so like the puppies of the ocean. If you are talking about like right now I have to go down to pet shelter, which adopt don't shop folks, please, please, please, if you are going to get a pet, please go to one of the countless shelters across America and get your new furry friend. I am definitely going with a cat. So pretty easy, unless you give me Bezos money, then I am getting weird with some aquatic animals by getting them as pets, nothing actually that weird. The next one, are there any schools I consistently cheer for outside of K-State? Not really like passively, I passively kind of cheer for the Washburn Ichabod since I grew up in Topeka. Have a lot of friends who are actually employed by their athletics department. I didn't attend Washburn or anything like that but I kind of passively cheer for them in Division 2. Like Division 1, FBS, football wise, not really like I will be pulling for Tulane this season because to make that win look better. I will definitely be cheering for our friends at E.T. Martin. Really enjoyed communicating and hanging out and talking with Davis Gregory, the play-by-play voice of the Skyhawks. So I will cheer for them when Scott Garrett, so one time guest of the podcast, he came on back in 2021 when he was the athletic director at Cleveland State. I really cheered for their basketball team and that was when they had Dennis Gates. So while I don't like Dennis Gates at Missouri, I was cheering for him at Cleveland State and that's part of the reason why he was on my short list when the job came up after Bruce Weber. He's with John Curry at Wake Forest again. He's the number 2 guy over at Wake Forest. I probably shouldn't still hold hard feelings towards John Curry but I do so I don't really cheer for Wake Forest. I'll tell you this, I really enjoyed so when I was driving down with my parents at Fort Worth for this family wedding that I'm performing the ceremony later today, recording this on a Sunday, we listened to the Memphis Florida State game, their radio broadcast and their radio team is hilarious so I might find myself pulling for Memphis a little bit this season. But historically no, I just, no, I mean there's never really been a team that I, I mean kind of UTSA football, I mean I kind of, but it's kind of just in passing and it's tough. Oh man, Jeff Traylor probably should have left when he had the chance. So really no, but kind of it, but consistently, if the, if the keyword there is consistently then probably not. The next one from Steve Z is Lofton getting the most play, oh no, accidentally un-like that, hold on, is Lofton, got to track it back down, Steve Z, you tweet too much for me to find this stuff. All right, there it is, is Lofton getting most of the tight end play, more of a comment on him or Oakley? Well Oakley did get hurt in the first half, did not come back in, but I do think, look, final week and a half of camp and preseason practice, Brayden Lofton's name was maybe the hottest name amongst players. So I'm not surprised by this, I think it says a lot about him. I am surprised about the lack of play Oakley's getting, lack of touches, it sounds like he's been banged up and again it held him out of playing much, if any of the, I don't think he played it all in the second half versus Arizona, so I think we're going to see a lot more Lofton and Will Swanson, but I think it has more to do with Lofton being good and then he's just taking advantage of maybe some extra snaps since Oakley's been a little banged up. The next one, whose number looks the sexiest on them in case states offense and then defense? Look, I am a traditionalist, I do not like defensive lineman wearing single digits. I like the old traditional NFL numbering system, so I think on defense, give me a big boy wearing a 99, I think Uso's number works the best for him. Then on offense, honestly, I don't like number, two is not great for quarterback, it's fine. I'm going with 31 with DJ Gitens, I think, you know, I was a big priest homes fan, I think that number looks good on a work horse running back, so I'll go with 31 for DJ. I will say I hate Sam Hecht wearing a number in the 70s at center, I think the center should be in the 50s, guards in the 60s, tackles in the 70s, you know, wide receivers and tight ends in the 80s, quarterback 1 through 19, running backs 20s and 30s, you know, defensive line can be 40s or 90s, linebackers 20s through 50s, corners and safeties defensive backs 20 through 39, defensive line 90s, maybe 70s, 70s and 90s for the defensive line. I like the traditional numbers, I know, I know, it's maybe my like biggest old person take, I like traditional, traditional numbering, but hey, that's way too far gone, that'll never go back, so, all right, we got a shy cat, emo shy cat next. If a team had to be made with all of the players being a clone of one single current or former case state football player, who would produce the best team? This is so tough for football, because you have to go with someone with size, I really do think, I really think when you look at size and speed, it might be Toby Osensami. Look, he's not overly big, but when you see his speed and athleticism paired with, I mean, he's put on some weight, I think it has to be that because it couldn't be a skill position player, I mean, you know, those guys are way too small to be playing interior defensive or offensive line. And again, don't get me wrong, it would suck, the team would suck no matter what. I mean, maybe you go Cooper BBing, you just try to, maybe that's the answer, honestly, I take you back. It's Cooper BBing, and what you do is you just line up jumbo package, and you just try to pick up three yards of carry and have 12 minute drives on defense. Oh, but him in coverage, ugh, this is a tough question. Now I'm going back to Toby, Toby Osensami, but the team would not be good. I don't think they're going to give up on him, but they should. I would completely move on from Dante, see if this, I would, I would give all of his snaps to Trey Spivey, I would give him like four or five snaps rotational snaps, I would have him on the Sterling Lockett package, AKA four or five snaps a game. I'm giving up on Dante, see if it's personally, I hope this is the kiss of death in a positive way. You know, Scott Wildcat reverse or something that we look back on in a couple of weeks and be like, oh well, I don't know ball, I'm an idiot, all this type of stuff. I hope he goes for a hundred yards versus BYU, but I'm completely riding him off. Like any positive play we get from him moving forward as a bonus, I'm completely out on Dante, see if it's and it kills me. He was so good at Kent State, I thought getting back with Matthew Middleton would have been the secret sauce, but it surely is not. All right, we got the next one from Para Cat Ryan, let's see, can we cherry pick all of Para Cat Ryan? Yep, we got two more from Para Cat Ryan, we'll go to him, then we'll keep it moving. The next one is, do we think we finally started unlocking Avery Johnson's playbook? Yes, I think giving him the freedom to scramble more, having more reads, more quarterback called running plays, he is at his best when he is running. I know he doesn't want to say that, he doesn't want the stereotype of a running quarterback. I get that, everything will fall into place. I just think you need to maximize his best abilities and that's running the ball. I do think we unlocked it a little bit more with Arizona. I think we continue to see more and more every single week though. Next one, which unit has been a good surprise and which one has been a disappointing surprise? Good surprise is probably the tight ends and I was high on the tight ends, but a lot of it was on the back of Oakley. The fact that Swanson and Lofton are the ones getting the touchdowns and getting a lot of the success, I would say they are the positive surprise. Same surprise is wide receivers, again, I did not buy into the Keegan Johnson hype and I was high on Jay Sproun, but Keegan Johnson has fallen even shorter than my low expectations for the first three games, have not seen really anything out of a player to from Trey Spivey. I'm not saying, I'm not putting, I'm not hanging anything on Trey Spivey's head, but again, you point to him as like, oh, you know, not bad, but it's like not good either. Absolutely disgusting play for him, Dante Sifis not good. Jay Sproun, two good games, one kind of invisible game outside of one play versus two lane. Sterling could have had a touchdown pass, but you know, it didn't work out, it's not getting much from him. Just nothing from the wider receivers, again, outside of a handful of plays that Jay Sproun's made and a couple of good plays from Keegan Johnson, again, you can count on maybe one hand, the plays from the wider receivers through three games. So they're disappointing my already not super high expectations, but I feel like we do this every year, we convince ourselves that, hey, we got some, we got some players on at wide receiver when quite frankly, that continues to be the big black mark, the big red flag, the big, whatever color phrase you want to use here, just not good, just not good at all. All right, we'll go along Ruger, who's going to get Avery a new gold chain next week? Jay Sproun and Dylan Edwards both have some great chains going on, and I just unlikeed another three, I just missed one. Look, in the world of NIL, there has to be, there has to be some jewelry store in the state of Kansas that wants to give him an NIL deal. Some jewelry store needs to give Avery Johnson a chain. Someone needs to, someone needs to, so hope it happens. If I owned a jewelry store, I would, but I don't, I have a secret day job and this podcast. I will go to Matterhoof, where is Oakley everything okay? I have not heard anything on his injury again. He didn't play in the second half. I assume, as of the time you guys are listening to this, I'd go back and try to find Chris Kleinman's press conference from Monday, I'm sure he addressed it. And we'll go to Connor Belts' or one half of my favorite K-State podcast, the Aggieville Halle cats, after the coaches indicated that Dylan Edwards had to get more touches this week, wasn't enough. He had seven offensive touchdowns and the punt return. Yes, I, I think I've said seven to 10 is, is the range he needs to be in. He was on the field more, which is what I think Derek Young and Casey online. He was saying that it's not only about usage, but it is about him being out there, even as a decoy, being able to draw the eyes from Arizona. I think we saw that on Friday. So I'm fine with it. I think he needs to be around seven to 10, seven to 10. He cannot be a worker or she cannot be seeing 20 touches. His body would not hold up to that. So I think seven to 10 is the sweet spot. I would like to get DJ right around. We'll get, we'll get Friday the benefit of the doubt, 17 to 25 touches for DJ. And then spread the rest out amongst Avery running the ball and the other past catchers. What are my thoughts on East and guilty so far solid, but again, I was, I probably put expectations a little too high on him, especially early in the season coming up from the FCS. I thought he was going to be a, all conference candidate coming out of the gate. I think he can still get there. I still think he can be an NFL draft guy, but instead of being maybe a fourth or fifth round pick, he might be a sixth or seventh round pick. I still think he can get there. I still think he can be at maybe an all conference level, but it might come a little too late in the season for him to get those athletes, although John past story has been playing so well, cutting into his snaps a little bit. So I would say solid, not great, not meeting my expectations, but in hindsight, it's easy done. Everything's easier in hindsight, but I think I probably put too high of expectations on him. That's all right. I think he's been solid and I'm really glad we have him. And then the final one from Connor Balzor. How do I feel that the defense, the defensive plan for T-Mac, for Arizona? Number four, Chris Kliman calls him. I thought it was fine. I would have doubled a little bit more. He didn't get his, what was it, like 12 for 135, but he didn't beat. Yeah. I mean, there's one good play where we are in a zone and they were able to just find the perfect spot in between the hook zone and the deep zone and it was like a 30 yard play. But outside of that, I mean, it was a lot of 10, 12, 15, 3, 2, 15, you know, it was not a backbreaker and he didn't score. So I'm calling that, I'm calling that, you know, A minus, which seems crazy to say a guy going for 130 yards, 12.5 yards of reception saying A minus, maybe B plus, maybe B plus is a better grade, but I thought they did pretty well. I think they did pretty well. You might, Connor, I'd be interested. I'll have to make sure I listen to your guys' pod because I'm sure you guys will grade that out. But I, you know, is what it is. That's where I'm going with. We got Mike Smith. What's up, Mike? How would I rank these defensive players based on their performances so far this season? Romaine, Purnell, and Marquee Segal. I'd go Romaine, Purnell Segal. I'd have it in that order. I think all three have been great. I think Chris Klimann probably had Segal higher. I probably don't know every single play his responsibilities well enough to disagree. So I probably should defer to what Chris Klimann said, but I think Romaine Purnell and Segal, I think in that order is where I'd have them. All three have been good. I'd throw Jacob Parrish in there as well. I think those four guys have been really good through three games. If they can keep it going, I feel confident, you know, if those four guys are on their game, I feel confident every game we have moving forward. Oklahoma State's going to be tough. Presley's good for them. Bowman seems to be slinging and dealing. We'll see Ollie Gordon, of course. We'll see. That's two weeks away. I'll be interested to see how the Utah Oklahoma State game goes. I'm not looking past BYU and I think that's going to be a fun trip. I'm looking forward to going. But that one's going to tell a lot, but I'd keep it in Romaine Purnell, Segal. All right, we'll go to Will. We'll do Tristan's, got Mr. Notsman, we got Abe, Skymart, and then we'll end with Mark. I will start with Will Dubois. I get to control when, where, or if one of these a parent games moving forward, Wildcat March or the Tech Suits, what do I pick and what am I replacing? So I think the Tech Suits are the T-shirts and shorts. I don't really care. I know, I know Will does. Will loves the traditional marching uniforms and I think there was, there's a couple other boneheads if they're listening, they'll know who they are that have thoughts on that as well. I don't really care that much. I'd get rid of, I'd get rid of Wabash and I would either play, I'd either play home on the range, the state song of Kansas, or the battle hymn of the Republic. You know, that's a fun little catchy tune. And then if you're going to go that route, I would do that before the ceremony of allegiance. So you do that, then you do the pledge of allegiance, then you do the national anthem, then you do the alma mater, then you go to Wabash and then you do fight song as you leave the field for Willy to come on and all that stuff. So that's what I do, but I don't know how to play an instrument. I was never in marching band. My opinion on that probably shouldn't matter, but that's my opinion on it and that's my take. Shout out to Will. We got two from Tristan, what's Chauncey's favorite treat? Oh, Chauncey will go crazy for a pup cup, my friends. In the mornings, if he is barking too much or if he's going wild and he doesn't want to come in, I'll say, "Hey, you want to go get a pup cup?" Comes inside, we go to the garage, put him in the car, window down, head out, loves a pup cup, loves deli turkey. I'll cook him, I'll bake him some chicken on occasion, he loves chicken. And then like these little marrow treats that come in a tub, he loves those as well, loves his bark-bock treat. He's a treat guy. He's all about his treats. He likes pup cups and turkey and chicken, probably the best. He's a spoiled dog, he is a spoiled dog. He goes, "The atmosphere for the Arizona game was very good, but do I think the Oklahoma State game atmosphere will be better?" Gun to my head, if I had to predict yes. Some of it will have to do with how the two big eight stalwarts deal with the Utah schools. Obviously, if we lose versus BYU this week, that will damper the atmosphere. If Oklahoma State loses at home versus Utah, their ranking might tank a little bit, that might dampen it a little bit as well. But I think, and by the time you guys are listening to this, I'm sure we'll know what time the game is, but I think that that atmosphere might be better. So we'll see, we'll see, that's been the one that I was thinking will be the best atmosphere all year. So stay tuned. I hope it is. And the atmosphere is good versus Arizona State. If we can see a step up for the, or versus Arizona, if we can see a step up versus Oklahoma State, it'll be a good one. Mr. Notsman, what is the case to its record on Harley Day? Don't know. Don't know. We got Abe Knuckleball, someone get the hat to Hot Boy Jean. Shout out to all the creative folks in the K State fandom. Someone made the Hot Boy Jean, I shouldn't say someone, let me make sure I'm giving credit where credit is due. It was Joe Tillery. Joe Tillery made some Hot Boy Jean hats. I don't know if it got to him. I hope it does. I think that nickname is just absolutely hilarious and I love that it's continuing to go. The young kids, you know, it's different. College kids are different now versus when I was in school or the recent grads are different versus when I was just coming out, but they're creative and I like that. We got Skymart 1707 before we end with Mark. He goes with the new playoffs, what are my thoughts on a bracket buster game to improve teams resume similar to the men's basketball tournament years ago? I think this would be great, but it would have to be the group of five and soon to be group of six because I'm not going to call the new Pac-12 a power conference, but the non-power four, I think they should. I think a group of them should get together and probably organize that, have the determination of who's playing who probably have it in week 10 or 11, announce the matchups in week six or seven. So you have enough time to do advanced scout and all that type of stuff, but I think that would be good. I don't think they're going to. I actually, I know for a fact, they're not going to because conferences don't want to possibly set up their team for a loss that they don't want and completely eliminate their conference from getting a champion. So it's not going to happen. I think it would be great, but it's not going to happen. All right. We're going to end with Mark but before we do again, a shout out to our friends, Charlie Hussle. Again, go to our Twitter account where you're given away a set of two T-shirts and two tickets to the Oklahoma State game. So get over to our Twitter account and enter. Find the tweet. I probably should pin it. Hopefully I pinned it. Retweet, follow. Do the prompts and we'll announce the winner on Friday Manhattan Brewing Company, the best brewery in the state of Kansas. Check them out. Ask for four packs at your local liquor store here in the state of Kansas. All right. We'll end with our guy, Mark. How do I feel about the Riley Wells game plan and its designs? I thought the touch under Lofton was devious. Look, they've drawn up some amazing plays, including a lot of these touchdowns, the tight ends in the red zone and some of these wheel routes, like week one to Dylan, and then again, it was a reed wheel to DJ, verse two lane, Avery talked about that one. It wasn't completely improvised. It was called up that way where you go to the flats, if it's there, if it's not, give time and hit the wheel route. I think they've been very good in the red zone. There's been some other spots where they wouldn't get an A, but I think they've been drawing up some, like you said, devious stuff in the red zone. We got Mark. Is DJ going to lose national height because he keeps getting touchdowns poached close? Well, first off, he got a, he got a goal to go touch for a touchdown versus Arizona. And maybe, but again, I don't think Chris Klimann teams are ever going to be coached for the accolades or anything like that. You know, they're not going to go over the top trying to get Avery, Heisman buzz. I don't think they're going to go over the top to try to get DJ Geton's national hype. That's just not how they coach. They're going to call the plays and do what it takes to win games. Sometimes it's going to be DJ getting red zone touchdowns. Sometimes it's not. But yeah, I think that does have something to play with it. I mean, DJ could, if DJ had all his guards and he had eight touchdowns through three games instead of two, he'd be getting more buzz, but that's not why they're doing it. Sorry though. How impressive was the defensive performance feels like a lot of Arizona's guards were hollow and they really didn't challenge much on the second half. That is perfectly said. I think I mentioned in the game review pod, when we look back, that might be the most impressive defensive performance we had this season. And maybe one of the top ones of the Chris Klimann era, it was, I mean, it was, it was a masterclass. I know some folks make fun of me for using that phrase too much, but it was miraculous. I absolutely love what we saw from the defense on Saturday. We've got three more from Mark. And then we're going to call it a day. How do I feel about Avery's throwing the ball after what we saw on Friday seemed to be throwing darts from pocket and on the run. Again, I think Avery's throwing is improving. I think that he misses some throws, but what quarterback doesn't? I think his wide receivers didn't help him out a few times, but hey, that's just how it goes. I feel confident with his throwing. But again, as I've said, his, his legs are his best weapon. And again, he, he made some good throws on the run. So again, I, I, I think that they need to continue to get him running, get him out of the box and give him the freedom to move around when he sees fit. Final two, post noncon check-in. Is this team better, worse or the same as I expected and haven't seen what rest of the league has done? Do I feel better, worse or the same of getting to Arlington? We're about it. What I expected, obviously you want, you want your first two games to look perfect. They weren't. I thought the Arizona game was pretty close, probably, probably for week three in the season, but the team we have probably about as close to perfect as you can get. I think they'll continue to improve throughout the season. So I think they're about where I expected maybe slightly feeling better after that Arizona game versus when I came into it, Arlington, I'm feeling better because, uh, look, I had KU as a contender. Um, it doesn't seem like they're going to be West Virginia, obviously fraud, so they kind of fell off UCF while undefeated and they got the first conference win. They're definitely going to be able to make some noise. Uh, Texas Tech, eh, kind of fraudulent, not feeling great about them. Uh, West Virginia frauds. I was state. I mean, they're not scoring a bunch. Not scoring a bunch. Their defense is good, but everyone's like, oh, explosive offense. And then that, no, they're not really scoring much. So I don't know about them. Utah kind of looking sketchy, cam rising a little bit of glass boy, Oklahoma state struggled with Arkansas at home. Arkansas's booty. They're not good. Um, we just beat Arizona way more soundly than I thought. Could they be contenders? I don't know. I don't know what they're throwing them in. Um, BYU's undefeated, uh, hopefully nothing too scary happens up in Provo, but, uh, I'm feeling good. And then the final thing he's asked every week will end with it this week. Why change things? What am I most and least worried about, uh, after Fry's game? Most worried about, again, I think it comes down to that end of half clock management, because it wasn't perfect with Tulane either. Again, there was some weird stuff going on with possible injuries and miscommunication there. Time out. Um, but end of half time management is the thing I'm most worried about, least worried about, uh, Avery Johnson, he, he is what is promised. He's the real deal. So not worried at all about him. All right. That is all we have for the Tuesday Q and A. We will be back tomorrow previewing the BYU game. We'll have a Thursday conversation and a Friday whip around again, shout Charlie hustle, get over to our Twitter account for the giveaway.
