your views the onions your limerick today with jonech online ninety five now we want to tell you about limerick's hermitage green and they've just released their brand new album connection the lads obviously back from their u.s. tour as you know they played a very big gig at live at the docklands over the summer and indeed they were involved in culture nice and Barry Murphy who we know well from other things on live ninety five two is that with me good morning Barry how you doing you're right nearly in a monday mornin fair page and we are we are we're rattling around here Jo I'm sure you're here and we have the two daras we've done it and your producer Killian King is with us as well so connections well first of all go back to friday and what happened at culture night Barry oh look it was what a night release in album Jo I suppose what a day I mean the week in general was just beautiful in Ireland and was such a buzz around and the wonderful people at treaty city brewery offered to bring out a beer to celebrate our album which they always kind of do something around our big shows and something so I went in a met Steve on Tuesday we're chatting about it and I asked him what he was doing on to us Friday night here and he said he was there was a little bit of a festival going outside so I say could be piggyback off that and play a few tunes and then it just with his mojo and energy as it generally does just grew into something bigger and better so we ended up getting about a thousand people on the street probably didn't have a big enough PA to satisfy that amount of people but everyone had the time of their lives it was absolutely brilliant and yeah we we got to release the album with that kind of energy behind it so it was a really special night Nimric I think just been down there in the medieval quarters and going into King John's castle there was a big festival on and there afterwards to get to see loads of limerick artists and later on that night so it was just really really special night for us and the reaction to the album has been brilliant as well and it backs up the great gig here over the summer yeah the darklands and you know one of our biggest shows of the year and again people like it in Nimric just you know the support we get I think from limerick from everywhere from you guys playing our music here to to the dolens putting on huge shows for us and always backing us and then the people in there coming out to get behind us and this album was very much born and bred in Limerick you know killing us is you couldn't find him or a more limerick man than killing here and he's done unbelievable work to produce this album we recorded it in his in his mother's front room over the last three years so yeah we're delighted to have him on board today and a big shout out to Killian Lads can we give him a round of applause so talk to us a little bit about what you did as producer Killian with connections I suppose and the lads came to me for the album they wanted kind of go in a different direction musically to maybe what they'd done before which was great because it kind of gave me a blank canvas to kind of experiment and kind of bring it to different places they all have a big interest in maybe electronic music which we've kind of brought its influence in quite a bit and so yeah just we experimented with lots of sounds through everything at the at the wall and see what's stuck and I think we came up with nine pretty good sounds yeah and obviously you need a band open and willing to do that 100% successful what they've been doing exactly and it's a you know it's a big call to to go in a different direction so it's fiercely brave for everyone to do it because you never know what's actually gonna come out the end of it but I think it was really successful and new sound is definitely a leap forward I think anyway right and what's the team of connections oh the team well it's you know we started out with just obviously taking a leap into something new and I think back in ourselves back in each other that we've we've been through so much together as a band over the last 12 years and we never planned on being in a band it just all happened and all of a sudden you go through life and death and you and you grow together and your lives are intertwined and that kind of team started coming out throughout it when we started writing songs like Griff and Dan wrote some of the most personal songs that they I've ever heard them write and then you know Griff had this ability to write for Dara when Dara was going through something he was searching for his birth parents and and Griff and Dan both wrote songs that kind of spoke about that so and then the word connection came out through Gregory David Roberts who features on the first track on it he wrote an international bestseller called Chanterem and he's won a Dan's favorite authors Dan has become very close with him and he wrote a spoken word part at the start and and he used the word loving connection and that's what it's about and we've always felt that between ourselves and now with our audience as well when people come to our gigs that's kind of what we want is that feeling that music gives you it's like connection to each other so that's kind of what I feel like the response we've got enough people over the last few days is that arcing journey in that story throughout the album and of course the fans they grow up as well with you don't they and probably have different expectations from a band over time too yeah exactly and you know we've we we still people are asking me over the last few days what's your new show gonna be like you know play all the new stuff that we play everything with you know it's every album for us has been different as such a variety of sounds and songs throughout so yeah I think we're gonna play a future infinity we might start with with quicksand even you know just to give people you know that the 95 FM I think that's your you're probably your most played Hermitage Green song which are quite right yeah yeah yeah you are really quicksand yeah yeah yeah fantastic that's absolutely cool yeah yeah thank you sorry there I just decided we're played it there is also my dad's favorite song of ours and I know he's listening this morning he's our he was doing children work on on Nicholas Street on set Friday night Joe said in our set our t-shirts he merchandise make we call him you know we have to say Guambo's shout out to the boys on the tartines who won the Pat Lawler yesterday I think you're a top-flowing on your command and you go in pain your the boys I need a cold low another summer's day I need love to do with my love to sleep we're keeps turning in the quicksand I've got problems and so have you work keeps turning in your quicksand and I'm just my thinking through I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand the clouds would fall down from the sky staring at one I'd lose and I while waiting in life you would love to turn up my hand on here away from my skin the world what keeps turning in your quicksand I've got problems and so I'm here what keeps turning in your quicksand and I'm just my thinking through I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand I've gone the wrong way around the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand the bed is there someone to put me from the quicksand yeah cheaper is how professional do you have to be known fairness of twenty person that's pretty good guy that's pretty good so the brand new album from Hermitage Green Connection is out now where can people find it yeah you can there's a big launch bunch them down in Steamboat music and if anyone wants to pick up a while you go on our website as well the series and finally can you can pick up there or else of course it's on across all streaming platforms as well so yeah and you've kind of been all over the world with it Barry haven't you Australia the US and many other places with with the bad and miss me great experience it has yeah that's been you know protocol for us from day one was that we wanted to tour as much as possible and you know we've got such a great reaction everywhere we go to the states we were in a few weeks ago did a few festivals over there and trying out the new stuff as well was was brilliant and did Australia earlier this year and we're looking ahead to Patti's week now and next week next year we'll be gone to to back to Canada in the US again so yeah it's you know it's our favorite part is getting on the road and playing music live music to new audiences and yet to bring this new sound is very exciting and you're back in limb regard to New Year's Eve yeah we're playing New Year's Eve in Dolan's yeah fantastic so yeah we've we've big winter tour coming up we've had Corcoran City Hall we're in the Olympia and Dublin on December 5th and then a few shows in the Russian Dublin go away could Kenny and then to celebrate New Year's Eve you're in our favorite spot in town in in Dolan's so yeah look very excited again it's to bring this stuff to the live stage it's huge and I remember you had a great connection with second captains do you still see those lads and you know you may in touch from time to time absolutely yeah we do yeah that seems like a life to God doesn't it the team tune and yeah telly I remember even coming in I think we did our first ever live radio play in here with you Joe and I remember you described that song golden rule as Cajun music and I'd never heard why but again that's the arc of like the variety of sound we've kind of gone 2011 and then you find yourself yeah playing on the team tune for the second captains TV show for a while and stuff and we do we hang out with them all the time anytime we're in Dublin or they invite us to a lot of their live stuff and they're great lads so yeah you meet some interesting people on their on their own and obviously your audience is far and wide but and others often and not to the limerick audience even when you're abroad you were saying in one stage they were here from Corbelie I was in part in Australia but like yeah you can realize half of Ireland is in Melbourne half a limerick is in Sydney and then I was in part as like anyone from Corbelie here and yeah massive reaction which is great fun as well when you go around the world and meet people from home and it's nice to can we people are proud of Hermitage Green isn't it and proud of the success it's huge absolutely huge for us it's you know it's it's where we we cut our teeth playing here in every pub around town from the Courghour to Nancy's to UL to Jerry Flannery's the White House we should do a pop cross on weekend our next album release will do a pop cross against us we know in memory cannot they'd be quick to tell you the opposite if they taught us oh look so it's nice to guess recognition when it comes right so what we're gonna hear now so this is an attract after the new album it's called drifting and and yeah this is probably being you know one of the ones that people have kind of stuck stuck on both still for the last few months so I'll give that a lash thanks the fact of taste of a lifeless boring made a case to call it a better place my mind won't haunt me later we destroyed you're in a place a place they can't hold you levitate it's your story don't be afraid it's never worth brightening simulate controlling we're just drifting off inside our sphere in the world is somewhere calling we just
