Survivor 44's Frannie - Reality Check with Heidi and Brad

Broadcast on:
19 Sep 2024
Audio Format:
other

In this exciting episode of Reality Check with Heidi and Brad, the hosts sit down with Frannie from Survivor 44. The conversation kicks off with some playful banter about organ farming and buying Frannie’s kidney, setting a humorous tone for the episode.

As the discussion progresses, Frannie opens up about her Survivor journey and her relationship with Matt, which has not only endured but flourished. The couple is now happily living together in San Francisco. Frannie also shares her culinary tastes, revealing a deep love for curry—something she indulged in daily during her time on the island—and her aversion to classic American foods in favor of more diverse cuisines.

The conversation takes a creative turn when Brad pitches a new reality show idea called The Biggest Gainer, where physically fit contestants are put on an island and fed unhealthy food to see how weight gain affects their attractiveness. Frannie and Heidi suggest renaming it Love is Fat and explore its potential.

Frannie also discusses her own podcast, Surviving the Dice, where she and her co-hosts dive into Dungeons and Dragons. They highlight the game’s immersive and imaginative nature and even consider doing a special episode with a D&D master.

On the TV front, Frannie recommends Battlestar Galactica and Who Done It?, and shares her excitement for Survivor season 47. Brad and Heidi discuss potential themes for Survivor 50, including old school vs. new school and the possibility of bringing back past players for challenges. They also joke about forming alliances on the show and entertain the idea of appearing on Survivor themselves.

As the episode wraps up, Frannie talks about her upcoming marathon in October and invites listeners to follow her on social media for updates. Brad and Heidi promote their podcast, express admiration for various Survivor players, and discuss their own potential Survivor dreams.

🎧 Tune in for a fun-filled episode with Survivor insights, reality TV pitches, and a dash of D&D magic!

This is the Hopecast Network, stories and shows you actually want to listen to. My name is Brad, she is Heidi, and this is Reality Check with Heidi and Brad Heidi. How are you today? Hi, I'm doing great. I am extremely excited for today because I have, we have someone who's close to me. He was in my Sokotribe and I cannot wait to have her today. Yes, we are going to be talking to Franny, and I am Jack because we are going back to Survivor World. It's my favorite world to get into, it is fascinating, and I hope, I hope we're going to talk about her relationship. We need to figure that out. I'm sure we will. I'm sure people listening want to know the deep, and myself included. Heidi, I am so excited. We're about to dive back into Survivor World, but before we do that, where can people follow us again? Please follow us on Instagram. We are Reality Check HB, and that stands for Reality Check with Heidi and Brad, and of course, follow our podcast and listen to us, rate us. What did you like? What did you not like? Do you want to hear anybody specific and we'll try to make it happen? Yes. Without further ado, Heidi, let's get to Franny. Alright, everyone, this is Heidi, and this is Brad here with me. We are so excited today because we have one of my good friends from Survivor, and her name is Franny. Yeah, so, Franny, thank you to Reality Check with Heidi and Brad, we're so happy to have you. I cannot wait to talk about pretty much everything and anything we want, because this is going to go, I'm sure it's going to go in many different directions here, so thank you for having us. Oh, my gosh. Thank you for having me. I'm psyched. Before we started recording, Heidi was like, "We're going to talk, we need to talk about anything. Are you going to talk about it?" I was like, "Oh God, we're going to possibly go, so I'm very excited to see where this conversation leads us, and I'm open, ready to share." We're going to need to know your blood type, your last four of your social... Okay, yeah, that's what I thought. Am I or am I organs getting stolen? Is that how it's going to happen? We're farming your organs. I'm selling your organs right now, Franny, and yeah, I'm getting a good bit on them because you're on Survivor. So that's expensive kidneys. Yeah, I need those kidneys, I really do. And not all those people want to survive, but she was one of the fan favorites, so I'm sure we can sell her organs for quite some money, so be careful when you're lost. Franny, what do you think your kidney would go for on the black market? Oh, oh gosh, I mean, you see me healthy, you see me healthy. Yeah, I haven't done any market research. Let's see. Let me rephrase this, Franny, let's say I am a billionaire, yeah, how much is... What is the price for me to procure your kidney to save... If I just want to buy your kidney, what would you sell it for? Because you can still live with one kidney. Are we talking in meal? Are we talking 50 meal? If I cut you a hundred million dollars check, would you give me your kidney right now? Yeah, so... It's such a weird... Yeah, I know. This is... It's just what I'm talking about. Welcome to reality check, everybody's like, "Whoa, I need to just log out right now." That's asking to buy Franny's kidney. I'm gonna go back and every episode actually starts this way. Oh, we should start through this a new bit. Yeah. Oh, here's the thing, I feel like the price would be lower if you weren't a billionaire, and if you actually demonstrated that you needed the kidney, if you really needed it and if we had some kind of good relationship going on, I feel like I could cop a kidney for a cool meal, or a couple million, I don't know. Surgery, there's a lot of recovery time there, it's kind of scary. I've never gone under anesthesia, spooky. And if you just wanted it, because you think I'm cool, that's kind of weird to me and I'm maybe... I'm like, "Belly? I don't know." No, let's just say you're not survivor for any, I'm just wanting to buy your kidney from you. I saw that you're cool. I mean, I'm just wanting to buy your kidney. I'm just a person on the street, you just want my kidney. You're just a person on the street. Everybody has a price, like, just wondering what that... For me, it'd probably be like $50 million. Nobody would want my kidneys, I pee all the time. Well, maybe that's a good thing, maybe that is, because Heidi knows, I pee a lot. Oh, we're in a very weird direction, I'm just like... Sorry, sorry, but I do like that if I'm forced, I'm like, "What's the boy's name in Christmas story?" Oh, Reggie. Reggie, Richie, no, you're thinking of, not Christmas story, Scrooge, what's the little boy's name? Oh, Tiny Tim. Yeah. Oh boy, Tony Tim, I need your kidney. And you'll fall for that. And then I'll be like, "Jokes on her, I'm worth a hundred million dollars." See, that's my imitation of Tiny Tim. This sounds really suspicious. I'm like, "Hello," I'm like, "Hello," and they give my kidneys through this recording flat. Yeah, anyway, we're glad you're here to Kidney Talk with Heidi and Brad. That's the new title. We lead the forefront of podcasts for kidneys. No, thank you for coming for anywhere really appreciative. So Matt, tell me again where you moved recently, what to say? I'm in Minnesota now. I'm in Minnesota. No, I wanted to make that connection. Did you go, Brad, did you go to the Minnesota Fair? What is it? What is it called? The State Fair. No, State Fair. I did not go because- How? What? Why not? Anyway, you need a conviction before you talk there. Ronnie, aren't you from Minnesota originally? Am I making that up? No. Yeah. I don't know if you can tell by everything about me, but I thought this was born and raised in Minnesota. Yeah. Yeah. My big Minnesota saying this is actually like relatively new and it kind of unearthed from like latent within me. I have started to involuntarily say "golly" as like my curse word of choice. Like something will happen and I'll be like, "Oh, golly!" And that feels very Minnesota to me. It's like I don't want to actually swear. Yeah. Deep within me. Okay. What is explain the hot dish to me? I don't understand the hot dish. Okay. You are asking- It's a casserole. It's a casserole. It's a casserole. But they call it hot dishes. ID. They call them hot dish here. Yeah. It's anonymous. It's so, so this is the one area where I am not quintessentially Minnesota and I would say is in terms of food because all of the classic food things actually don't really enjoy. I don't do hot dish. I don't do juicy lusi. Do you guys know what a juicy lusias? I had one last weekend. They're good for it. Yeah. It was. It was. I don't know. Last weekend. Okay. Then you just went down like $50,000 after you hit that whole thing out. It's like, man, this thing was good. Yeah. Yeah. It's a- Wait. Do you see? What is it? Juicy lusi. Juicy lusi. Juicy. Juicy. Juicy. Juicy. Juicy. Juicy. Juicy. It is a burger that is filled with melted cheese. Like the inside of the burger is filled with melted cheese. And to me, that's like a nightmare. I don't like melted cheese, so it's like a horrifying scenario. But a lot of people really like it. You don't eat cheese on your burgers? Um, I actually only became adventurous enough to order a cheeseburger like this year. This is the first year of my life I've ever ordered a cheeseburger. I always- I literally get like plain hamburger. If I go out- You're like my son. He- in my father-in-law. They like the plain burger with no ketchup, no- Yeah. You're an anomaly. Like you're the third person in my life I've ever met that does that. I know. You're not an adventurer. You're not an adventurer then. You don't like adventurers. No, here's the thing. I am an adventurous eater, otherwise. So I eat like all kinds of cuisines. I feel like it's maybe- I kind of almost have beef with like plastic American shoes. Like they kind of freak me out. Oh, foods from other countries? I'm like, yeah, bring it on. And some of the weird stuff that has like fermented in America, like weird cheese, filled deep fried, whatever, it just it alarms me because I don't know what it's going to do to me. I can feel like they're going to be a worse person after I consume this. Oh, that's that's burger king in general. Burger king smells really good and you're like, oh, I've got to eat some burger king because you can smell it. Then you eat it and you're like, why did I eat this? I'm a horrible person. I should not have eaten this whopper. See, this is I've never even been to Burger King. So I've never been to Burger King. Wait, what? Never once. Have you been to McDonald's or so- I have been to McDonald's. I've been to McDonald's. I've also never done like Taco Bell. Never been there. Wait, it's a little bit different. Are you a you're not a you're not a vegan or anything, right? Like, no, I just had beef for lunch. You just choose not to go to Taco Bell. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. That's amazing. I don't do fast food then or you don't do fast foods at all. I don't do fast foods and now I sound like an a hole. I don't do fast food. I'm not one of those. That's actually a good thing for you. I'm proud of you. Oh my gosh. It's pretty amazing. You're at the top on my list when it comes to. Ow. So, so Franny, when you got kicked off survivor and a friend. Oh, I'm so hot. Yeah. Like, Franny, from survival 44, you got kicked off. What did you order first from Poland? Oh my God. Oh my God. I had Indian curry, which is what I was craving every single day of survivor. I wanted curry. Like, so bad. And then I proceeded to order curry for some meal every single day that I was at Ponderosa. So, the entire like week and a half that I was there every day I had curry and what was so funny. I don't know if you experienced society. But like the it was the resort where we were at that was Ponderosa. The kitchen staff was awesome. They were like so nice. But there wasn't a lot of consistency in what they created. So like every time you'd order the same thing and it would be slightly different. Which, I ordered the one Indian curry like seven times and every time it was a little bit different. But it was so good. Still. I thought I wanted it. Night and barely a night, so I couldn't really have that experience. Yeah, one night where you were up all night and probably going and saying yeah, I remember that. I kind of went in great food, but it was just one night. I kind of liked Heidi's little flecks there. I was only there one night. I was only there one. Yeah. I had an experience that. I didn't get to do that. When you eat the curry, you like sweat the curry out like it's in all your, that's a smell that's hard to shake. You get that curry smell. It's good. It is good. It's good. It's good. Yeah. It's funny you mentioned that. I actually made curry earlier this week, I think on Tuesday and Thursday now. And my like fingers still smell like curry from cooking it. And I've washed my hands many times since that and it's like, like there's just a slight, it'll be a little bit before I get back to my normal sense game, I think. I would like the foot, I would love for you to ask for any of that in her go. You know what? They had this burger there. They called it the Whopper and I ate it. It was amazing. And then they had these tacos. They were good. And she just didn't know they were from Taco Bell. Like the streak is over. I finally ate Taco Bell. Yeah. Here I am on my high horse. I'm like, I've never been to Burger King and the Fajian staff is like, you need to eat that. You need to love it. You know, I feel like next time I see you, we're going to have a tasting of fast food. I feel like you just have to have that experience is it good or not? Good. Yeah. You have to have some immodial or something for your. But I feel like that has to be an experience and I would love to have that experience with you. Let's do it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I want you to video this because I want to see this. Yeah. I want to see her lose her fast food virginity. Yeah. I feel that all my crappy stuff and maybe like, but have you heard like a fried Oreo? I'm sure that's a thing at the festival. That is a hundred percent. I think at the fair, they've got fried candy bars, fried. There's literally fried butter. Yeah. The only actually. Okay. This is probably the like least healthy, like, you know, fried thing that I've had, which I had at the state fair last weekend, two eightens ago. Cheese curds. You guys do fried cheese curds? That looks so good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which is, which is both fried and cheese. So you think it would be, you know, the Venn diagram of things that I don't want, but for some reason the cheese curd is acceptable to me. So I had plenty of those when I was there. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You also, you have to go to the state fair, Brad. Okay. I'm sorry. I also just need to start. Where in Minnesota are you living? This is really important. I am in Hutchinson. So I am, I am like an hour from everything. That means nothing to me. Oh. She knows. Trust me. It did barely mean to me. What is that though? Like town motto Hutchinson, an hour from everything. It should be. But it's like we, it's, it's a small town and we live right beside Walmart, Target, all the cool things that you can, I can walk movie theater. I can walk to that stuff. Yeah. It's a town that has everything you need, but not everything you want. Oh. That's the way. Yeah. So it takes us about an hour to get into the cities. Okay. So we're, we're with. What brought, what brought you there? I took a job up here. Oh. Yeah. Super cool. I moved from North Carolina up here. Very recent. Very recent. Like when I met you in Chicago, I was living North Carolina and now I'm living in Minnesota. Oh. Yeah. Huge. Yeah. Huge. So you're living here. It's really nice. You haven't had the Minnesota winter then yet because Chicago isn't telling me that. Yeah. Yeah. It's coming. They're like, you're going to get that winter. Yeah. I can deal with it. It's snow, right? Yeah. You're going to, you're going to have a reality check. Tells to him when the winter comes. Yeah. I like that. I like the usage of that. We'll do reality check with Brett and Heidi. You come back in February and go, how about how you'll betcha? It's going to be really cold. How cold is it? You can just crank up the Minnesota accent for me there. Yeah. Let's book that. We can schedule it now. Yeah. Go ahead and book it out. Oh, Ronnie, changing the subject here because anybody who made lessons is because they're a fan of Franny. Franny fan, just like I am. And you told me that you didn't have any topics you didn't want to cover. I mean, you know, like you're an open book, tell us a little update about Matt. That's probably one of the top questions of people asking you, are you still with Matt? And I know the answer, but tell us your relationship or status with Matt now. Yeah. So, yeah. Yeah. Good work. Yeah. That is definitely not on my don't ask list. That's not that's on my like, I definitely want to talk about that list. Um, yeah. Matt and I are great. We are still dating. We actually live together now in San Francisco. So this is our apartment. I actually, well, you guys do it, you know, in case of any video makes it into the world, I'll just pivot quickly here. We have our torches set up. Oh, wow. Wow. Wow. Just survivor. Yeah. And we have like our water bottles and all that kind of stuff. Um, so yeah. We're just, we're living the domestic life we, uh, had been watching Battlestar Galactica recently. Um, and yeah, I don't know. We're just existing. It's so fun. I love living here. Moving here was like such, such a good decision for me. So, yeah. Yeah. Everyone wonders, everyone asked me still up until now. That's one of those questions like, how is it like, it's trying to still with Matt and like, what's like, how's it going? Oh my God. I always tell them the story behind there, right? Well, so yeah, that's one of the top questions that I get asked about survivor 44. I love that. I love that. Frannie, I want to dive into this for a moment because I wasn't on the island only in spirit. Um, I brought this up with a Heidi, but this was, well, Heidi, not first man. I had her on my show and I asked her, how do you like, I feel like for me, finding my girlfriend or my wife would be hard on the island is like, I'm trying to figure out how do you get to the, like, I'm so happy for you because you're an anomaly. Really? I don't, I mean, how many relationships have come out as survivors that have lasted? Not more than, not more than five that have really, yeah, you fit. You're in the like 5% club, right, of success. How does that happen? Because I feel like because, because Heidi is like, you don't brush your teeth, you stink. Like, I just felt like, I feel like, but if it works, it should work because you're around someone that smells and you still are attracted to them. Yes. Well, um, I'll start by saying that, um, we still smell all the time. So it was a, it was a preview for the rest of our lives together. Um, no, I think it's, I think it's actually great because, you know, you meet people in the real world, especially nowadays, you, you go on a date, you meet them on Tinder, whatever. Everyone is, there's so much performance. Like, you dress up, you put your makeup on, you're presenting this like version of yourself that you think is most desirable. You want, you know, that you think this person would want a date. And on survivor, Heidi knows you, you can only be so presentable. You can only have like so much of a face on, like, there's a point where, uh, you just start being yourself and even the parts of yourself that you maybe don't want to be start happening. Um, so when you're there with a person who's like actually a really good fit for you and you start clicking, it's, it's wonderful because you already know, like, okay, we're going to be able to communicate and enjoy each other's presence when we are at our like absolute lowest. So how wonderful could this be when we are clean and bad and happy? Um, so it's a great way to meet someone. I don't know if I would recommend it. It's maybe not the easiest avenue for meeting a significant other, but, um, it's set like a really, um, like raw and real, I think, foundation for our relationship. Well, it really takes the, you know, we all pick our, our girlfriend or boyfriends, but all we, we noticed their appearance first, right? We do. Most of the time a guy does the guy's like, Oh my gosh, like when I saw my wife, I'm like, she's hot. I like her. So that was my mentality. Right. So you get to get past that because you got to look past the, because you can't really see how hot someone is on survivor because I'm going to stop you right there Brad. We all got hotter. We all got hotter on survivor. Okay. There's a difference. There's a difference between dirty and sexy and we were dirty, but we were also, we also looked good. Okay. So that goes back to my, I bring this to my wife a lot, like I was in the military and I was on a ship and we had 30 women to like 300 men and those women were, I was like, Oh, they're okay. But we're out to see for like three months and they start looking like smoke shows to, to most men. But I get, so if you look, yeah, I don't know, but I do have some. I want to pitch to you, Franny and Heidi, I want to create a reality show. I've got this reality show on my mind. Yeah. And it's, it's getting past the looks. It's tearing down the looks of someone. Is it going to look like it's blind? Cause that thing. No, no. I was like, how do we tell them it already exists? It's where, it's where I talk to someone in a wall and I can't see them, but I get to know them. No, I'm kidding. That's not it. It's a great idea. I'm not going to sell. I've had this in my mind for probably 10 years. Maybe if we take eight men, eight women, and these are the men and women that are, you know, these guys, you meet them all the time, they're like, I can't gain weight. I'm just, I'm just this all the time. I could eat a whole bag of Oreos and it doesn't even affect me, right? So we take those eight men and there's eight women, right? We put them on an island much like Fiji. And we, these are physically skinny fit people and we feed them and we see their attraction at first. They're like, Oh my gosh, Franny. So hot. Like I'm just using you as a name because we're talking and y'all like each other, but I've been, I've, I've been forced to eat like donuts all day. Like I am packing on 20,000 calories. We cannot exercise. There's no exercise on the side punishment is exercise and celery. That's your punishment for the day. You know how Jeff goes, no rice for you? Well, no, your punishment is you have to eat nothing but hell is it because you're trying to gain the most weight. The winners gain the most weight. It's called the biggest gainer. We want to see how much weight you can pile on in one month and see if your attraction dwindles with the girls and the guys or it increases because you find they're good only inside. So did you just come up with this like on the spot? You know, it's like 10 years ago and I've just been marinating it in my brain. Like I think this would be hilarious because you're thinking, you're thinking when I'll be married for 15, 20 years, I start putting the pounds and the we keep the love going or not. Yes. Like, like, okay, if you show up and this guy's like, Oh my gosh, she's a supermodel. She weighs 110 pounds, right? But after a month, she may weigh 135 pounds. Yeah, you're putting all your. Well, Brad, I don't know how to tell you this, but I weigh 170 pounds. So I think you got to bump your numbers up. No, I'm just saying that is a I'm saying that because what do you see on the bachelor? You always see the people that you people you never like in real life, I'm never coming across. I like Ben Higgins. He's a friend of mine. I just would never looked that good, right? He was the bachelor. Like he's got a pick of the litter, right? You don't see those people in normal world. It's just not happening. You see the ones that have food on their, on their, on their lip and they're talking to you. Well, Netflix, Hulu, CBS, they all do that. Love is fun. They're all, they're all like, unrealistic. Let's look at a reality, anybody, anybody listening? Freddy, is this a, is this a reality show you and Matt would just sit and watch and go, I want to see this person put on the pounds and see if they're still, are still disgusted. We can actually just make them show up as couples. There's couples already. Yeah. And then love is fat. What do you call love is fat and you just keep eat and then Heidi, you lost a challenge. You've got these celery and you're like, gosh, I wanted all those dozen doughnuts. And like, hey, I want to eat that. I, I have something to say. So I don't know if you watch the last season of the bachelorette, but on the first day, they had a guy that was heavier. I don't know if I'll call it like fat, like just someone that's clearly heavier on the heavier side than all the other guys. So it's not the muscular, whatever. And he got kicked off on the very first day. So she actually caught him, but he became viral because all like the love that he got from the people out there, they were all like, you know, he's great. If you, she doesn't want you, I'll take you. So he got viral, even though he got kicked off on the first day because, you know, he just looked different than any other guy involved in the bachelorette in the past. So I thought that was kind of cool. It's like, you know, bring me some real people. Sometimes those are the real ones, right? So I want to see guys that have the dad bod like me, you know, they're all there and they're like, okay, and there's ladies that aren't sticks, right? You know, these stick figures on there, not real life, man. Bring us real, bring us real, real evil, not aliens. Yeah. Yeah. Franny's like, love is real. Love is real. That's real. Love is real. Fat. See. Hashtag love is real. I mean, I love it. Let's make this show. Let's all three pitch this to Netflix and see if they'll buy it. Yeah. Any investors listening. I wonder if we'd have to make them sound like waivers because they could have heart attacks because they're eating lots of fast food and disgusting food. Oh, you have to sign waivers, you have to sign your life for all these shows we do. Right, Franny? You have to find your life. Yeah. There was a clause in the survivor contract that said, um, you might have to walk on hot holes. Do you remember that, Heidi? Oh my gosh. I mean, reading a lot of it, I'm more like, is this scary? And I actually have someone who read a lawyer who read a family of, a family of my actually my father-in-law. He's like, if you were like, I know, I'll tell you not to sign this, but I know you're going. Yeah. Yeah. Have they ever left on hot holes on a survivor? I don't think so. It's, I mean, it's like a cultural thing, like fire-walking. And I think that they like maybe intended to do it as an early challenge, but I decided never to, but then it's just like in the contract forever. It's one of those things that they're like, we could just decide one day that we want them to do that. And we want, want to be able to, you know, have them sign off on it. That's insane. That's insane. Franny, I've been dying to talk to you because I want to talk about the Dungeons and Dragons podcast you got going on. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's, it's very interesting. I know very little about Dungeons and Dragons, but I've found that, excuse me, that moving to Minnesota, they play a lot of games up here that I've learned. I've learned this. There's a lot of D and D people in my community now, and I know nothing about it. But is it if you would give me, because it's basically role playing, right? It's role playing for adults and it's not a weird way to say, it can get weird. I'll tell you that. Oh my gosh. Can it. Oh yeah. Yeah. Oh, it got weird. Yeah. Um, I choose Heidi what you would say, but I would say it's a mix of like a board game and like a board list board game. So there are a lot of game mechanics that you follow and that dictate what you want to do. It's a mix of that and like improv and going with the flow and being willing to like try something. Um, it's kind of how I like to think about it. What's the weirdest? Okay. What's the weirdest thing that's happened to you play a D and D? Oh, that's a good question. Ooh. That is a really good. Charlie. Um, I have one a year by the way, should we use that work? What? Yeah. Yeah. It happened. Wow. A lot of things come to mind. Um, I've seen most recently, um, we recorded a new episode last night, not, not yet released. Where can people find your episode, by the way, they're listening. They're on Spotify. Yeah. So the podcast is called, uh, Surviving the Dice and it's on Spotify, it's probably also on Apple podcast. Um, it's definitely because I'll follow you on Apple. Oh, beautiful. Do you listen to Heidi's episodes? I will see it. I refuse to listen to Heidi's episodes. I'll say anything behind you. Oh, you literally look into it. It's so funny. It's hard. You guys correct me. Um, the answer is that I will tell you some, some background information, but go ahead, Franny. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, um, weird thing that happened, uh, last night in our episode is, um, that someone was turned into a cloud and they could move around as a cloud. And it's called gaseous form. So someone in a gaseous form, like surrounded someone else and just like encased them in a cloud, um, and that felt pretty weird. Uh, I would also say close second. Oh, go ahead. A gaseous form. Are we talking like a fart gas or just like, what kind of gas are we talking to you? Yeah. I mean, I think the intention was like vapor, but it became a fart joke very quickly. Oh, it would definitely be a, I could see that Heidi knows, I would definitely make it a fart joke. Yeah. Heidi knows that Matt, Matt Blankenship made it a fart joke that fast. Um, yeah. Um, so that was pretty fun. Also, honestly, our episode, Heidi, uh, there was a lot of talk of daddies and dungeons and, oh my gosh, yeah, things got a little, a little weird. I'll be honest, but I didn't, I didn't, so, so Brad, what I was going to tell you is I comment to the show and health, okay. I know I just interrupted a great conversation, but my name is Brad and you may be listening to me or any of the other talent we have on this network at Hopecast. We want to thank you for listening, but also we want you to like and subscribe to the show you're listening to. So when you're done listening, go on the iTunes or the Spotify and leave a great review if you like it and follow the show on Instagram and any other platforms that it's on, I think we're on TikTok. So follow us on TikTok, but make sure you leave us a review. We love good reviews here at the Hopecast network. Now, I guess I'll let you get back to your show and did it with us as well, right? And Matt and Franny have these accents. So the Franny's one was Scottish kind of accent and then Matt was like British-ish because it wasn't quite British, but he was like some fusion of something. I don't know. It could be a little bit by surprise, I was not expecting it, but they had their characters like full on with like accents and I was impressed. And not only that, but shout out to, um, oh my God. Um, why am I blanking all his name from Kena? Mr. Kane? No. So Kane is the master and the way that he runs the whole episodes, it's insane. I mean, he is so good, Kane is so good at it. So shout out to him and Franny and Matt because they do a fantastic job. And I know that sometimes you have other members like Carson, et cetera, but our episodes were extremely fun when we got bled. Kane makes it so immersive. It's such a blast, especially like we were, I mean, Brad, you're never going to listen to it. So I'll just tell you. No, I'm definitely listening. Underwater. And we were at this like underwater castle and, you know, Heidi's like a mermaidie elf, a sea elf situation, like it was crazy. It was really good. It was really fun. Do you ever have a southern character on there? Like if you need a southern accent, you can, I will provide that. You can jump. Well, so the most, the only southern character we've ever done, this is actually not part of the podcast. Oh. And here, and he, he heard me, he knows I'm talking about him, Matt just talked into the background. He heard, he heard, he heard Dungeons and Dragons. He's like, what? Yeah, he's like, well, we did a little in person Dungeons and Dragons session in Canada. And I went to go visit Kane and his girlfriend, Cat and his brother. And so we all sat around and we played like a Harry Potter themed Dungeons and Dragons. And Matt's character was like a southern, like American transfer student who was transferring to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry and had this like thick southern accent and was like, was like, what kind of spells should I cast like, it was so good. Oh my gosh. Yeah, you need to add that to the podcast too. Yeah, you need to add a, you need to have to do a southern, that would be it. So when they, I mean, that's the part that I was not expecting the accents, right? Because when they add that, he just like, it takes it to the whole new level, which is so fun. Yeah. So yeah, I like it. It feels like it does feel like then you're embodying the character a little bit more like the first. So we actually did like a whole D and D campaign myself, Matt, Carson and Kane when we got back from Survivor that summer after we got back, that we didn't film or anything, it was just for fun. And during that one, my character just had like my normal voice. And it was kind of like, it was fun, but I was like, it just feels like I'm talking, you know what I mean? Like this is just, I'm saying what I want to say. But then as soon as I had this accent, I was like, whoa, okay, now I'm this little Scottish elf, like what do they want to do? Who even knows? Just makes it more immersive. You try it, Brad. You'll love it. I don't know if you're on when you play. Well, logistically, I wear headphones, so it wouldn't work, unfortunately. I mean, if you're just like normally playing, not recording, like, do you play D and D when you're not recording or is it you always record now when you play D and D, is that the... I, so I only really play D and D like virtually on Zoom, so I'm always wearing headphones. Oh, okay. But I know there's a big like in person presence, I mean, there's like D and D conventions where people go and there are like game cafes where you can go and like sit in a room for a couple hours and play in person with your friends. So I think people do get really into like embodying their character with, you know, outfits and pieces and stuff, but I haven't dabbled into that world yet. Is it a hard game to get into in your 40s like myself? I think that it's actually a perfect game to get into in your 40s because, and I don't know what you're up to in your 40s, but yeah, what am I saying? I'm 25. I don't know. I don't know shit, but it is really playful, like it's a lot about imagination and play. And if you are at a point in your life where you feel like you haven't been doing enough imagining or playing, then it's like the perfect thing to start doing. My mind never shuts off really, like I'm kind of, I mean, I just, I'm constantly thinking about... You're imagining crazy things actually all the time. Things like gaining weight on a reality show. But yes, so maybe I should... The guys here, my newfound friends, they play like three or four times a week. That's a lot. That's a commitment. Because I mean, it's not a short game. It tastes a long time. But just keep going. I see they just like play and stop and come back, play and stop. They do it in person though, like they're getting together and playing. Yeah, you should try it with them. Just try to like pop in for, you know, two or three sessions as a random character and see how it feels. Can you die in it? Do you lose? Is it not a losing game? You can die for sure. What happens if they kill me? Like if I play with you friend and you're like, you know what, I don't want Brad around. Boom, and the southern guys dead. Do I, am I not invited back to play in the Zoom anymore? Like as I were. Can you just decide to off me? So usually we try not to kill each other just as proper like a guest etiquette. But, you know, we fight like monsters and adversaries that could certainly kill you. And that actually happened to me that first campaign that we didn't record. The like second to last session that we were playing together, my character just like died in a battle. Like I just, I just, I just was too weak and I died. And so for the last like single last session of this thing, I had to come back as a completely different character and be like dropped in randomly and be like a new person. So it can happen. It can happen. That's amazing. I, this is a fascinating game. I'm fascinated by the imagination part in the killing part. I think that's true. You need a good master though to kind of run it appropriately and knowing what to do. How to like do the improv and change. I mean they prep really hard to kind of get these campaigns going, right? So it takes quite some effort, but you need a good master to have a fun, really good games. Do I have a board? Do we have a board for this or like, what's the like? So I think that you can play with a board. Did you all watch? Oh gosh. What was that show? Stranger Things. Mm hmm. Yeah. I watched the first. You watched the first episode. In the first episode, they are playing Dungeons & Dragons on like a board with little characters. And that kind of like inspires or kicks off some of the events of the show. So I think you can play with the board, but nowadays it's, I don't actually know, I'll say this. It's, it's, depends on people's style. Some people like it to be entirely in your minds. Like you're imagining the whole world and what's in it and what it looks like. Other people find it really fun to create like in miniature the world that you're playing in. So there are all these like companies who will sell little miniatures of things. You can build this D and D world that your characters are in. And then you have little characters that you can literally move on the board and see where they're going. Um, yeah, it can get like really, really intricate, but I've only ever played just like in theater of the mind. That's cool. So it's like improv. The whole thing is just y'all are improvbing out of reality. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Oh, this sounds amazing. I'm going. Right up your alley, Brad. It is. It's right up my alley. Yeah. But, um, you guys going to do a special reality check episode and bring Kane in and he can walk you guys through a D and D side side and how about that. We should ID him a message. I mean, he is incredible. He really is. Yeah. And I was really, really good. Yeah. Uh, anyway, so I'm going to send him a message and be like, frankly, tell me to ping you because we want to bring you on like, I want you to create something for us short version of it. Yeah. Like a short, like teach me how to play with my, you know, imagination. And then we'll go. Yeah. And here's the other thing that's cool. I would only do it. He does voices. Oh, hi. He always does voices. Come on. There's no world where there's not voices. Um, but it's cool. The other thing is like, I think a lot of people assume that D and D can only be like high fantasy, like elves and trolls and, and magic and stuff. But you can do it with any like, female people do like Star Wars D and D, uh, you can do like Wild, Wild West D and D. Um, you could even play D and D and have characters in like modern times. Um, it's just like any setting you can imagine can be worked into a Dungeons and Dragons game. It's very versatile. We could do, we could do a Looney Tunes. Uh, we could do a movie one, we could do a movie one. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Movie. We're talking your lavish now, right? You like movies free. You're a movie person. I mean, I, I, it depends on what you mean. Um, I enjoy movies. I think I'm not like, uh, I don't consider myself like a film boss, which I know a lot of people do. I like movies. I love to watch movies. Hi. Are you a movie person? Yeah. I love movies. I mean, I do. I am too. But I'm not as good in pop culture probably as broad. So. Oh, I'll. Okay. I will say I did watch. Heidi, did you watch Unfrosted? Did you watch that on Netflix? I was read about that the other day. It's a Jerry Seinfeld movie about pop tarts. No, it's not good. Well, that's probably why I didn't watch it because it sounds terrible. It has like militia in the car and stuff. It has a bunch of comedians in it. Like I thought this is going to be funny, but it was like, eh, has Melissa McCarthy in it? Jerry Seinfeld. Yeah, it's almost it's almost worst of the year list in my mind. Oh, so if you're watching these days, what's good? Whether it's TV or not? Yeah. So I usually kind of live in a bit of a TV show cave. Like usually all I watch is Survivor. Matt and I are watching that will start Galactica right now. So this is a show that he. I'm not sure you mentioned that. Yeah. So he like loves a show. He watched it when he was younger. I had never seen it. So I'm watching through to the for the first time and he's rewatching it. And if anybody has have either of you seen it or no, I know what a day is. I haven't really watched much. I've never seen it. Okay. It's very, it's a show with like a lot of twists and it's very well done. Lots of interesting characters. The basic premise is there are humans that have like the ability to navigate spaceships and live on different planets and stuff. And they created these robots that then, you know, become sovereign and start attacking them. So it's like humans versus the robots they've created. So we're watching that. We're also watching. We just started the other day. Um, did y'all ever watch ABCs who done it in like 2013, 2014 and who done it? Who done it? Is that like a reality show? Okay. Yeah. Yo. That show is so funny. It is so camp. Like it is over the top. It is a murder mystery show and it is like it's reality TV. So they had, I don't know, it, you know, 18, 20 contestants and each week they have to solve a murder and then present, uh, their case for like what they think happened in the murder. And then the person who did the worst dies quote unquote and they dress them up in makeup and they do like stunt doubles and all this stuff and then they have this crazy grizzly death. And then the next week, the remaining people have to solve that person's murder. And then one of them is the killer the entire time. Uh, and then it's revealed who it is at the end, but it's so over the top. And like, I, I just, I love this show and other episodes are free on YouTube. So we're watching that right now. Oh my gosh. Let's see what it was. I bought it is. I had, I had not, I have never seen it. So, um, but it looks fun. It's really funny. This wouldn't be a reality check episode, Franny. If we didn't say you need to watch traders, that's a great show. We talk about traders a lot on here. Yeah. I have never seen the traders, but I am going to watch the next season because our good friend Carol and is going to be a hunter here and I, I can't even fathom what she will do on the traders. Um, yeah, it's going to be crazy. I think it's exciting, but we also have some homework for you, Franny. Um, yeah. When we get you homework, Heidi, we, Heidi and I want you, she doesn't know this, but I'm just dishing it now. Yeah. He's making this up. I'm making this up. Yeah. How do you like homework? I was like, I got a whole lot of homework. Um, we're going to be recapping the episodes of the floor. Oh, Fox. Do you know what it is? We won't. You never heard of that. Yeah. It's Heidi. Explain the floor to her. Oh, it's a, we had a good friend of ours, uh, joining us who was on the floor and see someone. So the season two is coming up soon, but essentially there's people on different tiles on a floor and then they all have topics and they do trivia, essentially questions about each of those topics. So you do these battles between two of them and whoever wins have their territory on the tile, but takes that all their personal territory. So the person that actually wins the whole thing is whoever has all the territories of the floor. It takes 10 episodes to get there. It's not one episode. Okay, I think I've, okay, I'm going to, I'm going to pull up a picture of this because I feel like I've seen this visually. Um, it's on Fox. Yeah. Rob below is the host. Yeah. Yes. I have seen this where they're standing and like it lights up their territory. It is an amazing show. It's fun to watch. You can, we binged season one in like two days in my house. It's like just watching it and here's the thing though, Franny and Matt. Franny will be really good for certain topics. Matt will be really good at a lot of them. So like Matt is one of those that's like knows a little bit about a lot of these things. So I will kill it if you were in that cell. Yes. What would your topic be? D and D? Would you go D and D? Would you go fast food? Oh, well, God, going price of kidneys on the black market. That's my topic. There's nobody that knows kidneys better than Franny. Yeah, I spent a whole podcast with the government. Um, no, I don't know. Actually, I'm like very much a baby in D and D. I would probably go, um, Dammit, I probably can't say survivor. Huh? I know the most about reality. You could say reality is survivor. But if you see reality, it will be way beyond just a survivor because there's so many of them. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know much about reality TV at all. Only survivor. Um, probably like, I think I could, I could do a lot of like. Kind of like medical, human body type stuff. I was. I could see it. So I have all that knowledge, um, rain, rain parts that we have, not lots, lots of brain stuff. Yeah. Yeah. That I could definitely do. What would be yours? Your areas. I'll be yours, Brad. Um, mine would be, I'd probably say movies. I could probably handle movies. I could do you. Or football. I could do football sports. Yeah. What about you? Uh, maybe countries or photography book countries or like ethnic foods or like something related to the traveling, something like that, right? Um, I could see that being right up my alley. Well, we're going to be watching them so you can have to watch it and let us know what you think of the floor this season. But yeah, I want to ask you a survivor question. Um, you, you were a fan coming in survivor. Right? Yeah. So who did you grow up like watching on survivor? Like I just, this person inspires me to want to be on survivor. Yeah. So I, I started watching survivor when I was in high school. So I don't really have like a childhood idol, um, just because I was a little like later to the game in that way. But my favorite player has always been Sophie Clark. I think she's so cool. I didn't like her season. Yeah. Like, I loved her on her first season. Um, she was just so, like she just didn't take any BS from anyone. She was really smart, um, and allowed herself to be underestimated, which that was cool. And then, oh my God, she killed it on winners at war. Like she was so much fun. Um, yeah, I don't know, I just think that she's super, super cool. And also, I mean, you know, that I think that certain people are so overrated. If I have to hear one more person talking about him, he would, he was a kid. I'm like, oh my God, I'm over it. Like, like they have been overplayed, Tyson, Rob, all of that. Like, you know, we got to hear some different people every now and again. Yeah. I doesn't, don't you think Franny gives you a little bit of her vibe though? Her, her survivor idol, I thought so when she told me in the island, actually you told me this in the island, I'm pretty sure. I was like, yeah, I can see that. Like, you have a second vibe, don't you think? It's probably why I like her. It just reminds me of myself, maybe. Yeah. I like that you, you brought up overrated because I like that you're being honest about that. There are some overrated survivor people. Yeah. I, I'd never won it, right? No. No, he never won. He arguably got pretty close, like two times, but never, he didn't win. Does he do anything with survivor community? Is he, is he like, is he just, oh Brad, you don't want to know? You don't want to know what he does. What does he do? I do. You know? I know. What does he do? We'll tell, we'll talk to you about that offline, maybe. Oh my gosh. I like dozzy. I like the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. When we stop recording, I want you to tell me what he does. Yeah. He serves the survivor community in a number of ways. Yeah. He's, I mean, he stays engaged. Like I've met him at events. He's lovely. Like he's, he's nice. It's just, it's like the, which is kind of funny coming from me. Like the strategy of, well, I'm just going to catch fish and win challenges. And that's why people will like me. I'm like a horrendous strategy. Like I just can't imagine that that maybe season one that wins, if you don't have richer cash. But he's old era. He's old era. Right? Yeah. He was old era. He wasn't new era. Yeah. He played, he played on season 34 as well. Especially. But he's definitely, yeah, definitely like an old school. A little player. Yeah. Not new era. But we all know him and he's cool. He's a cool dude. So. But I like how he called him as being the, as overrated. That's pretty funny. Yeah. Yeah. And it's not his fault. I mean, it's just like every, you know, little child that thought that they were athletic thought that he was the beast and he is and it's, what about Cochrane? Oh, he's good is not overrated. I love not. He's probably under. He's probably underrated, honestly. Yeah. Yeah. Not quite under. Yeah, but he played twice, right? Yeah. He lost the first time coming back and scored on the second time. Yeah. So. So. What's your prediction for survivor 50? What do you think is the theme or what are you thinking they'll do? Whoa. Good question. I feel like whatever they will do will surprise all of us, to be honest, I, I could see a world where they do some kind of like old stool versus like middle versus new stool. That's exactly what I'm thinking. Yeah. Because I think they like the three tribes. So breaking it up by three and then you have people from all the different areas of the show, I think would be cool. They'll do more people. I feel like they should do more than just the normal 6, 6, 6, right? Like I think they need a little bit more to do that. That's what? Yeah. So I, um, I have heard that from a lot of people that they think that they'll do more. I think that logistically that becomes so complicated because like either of you, do I don't you watch? Have you ever seen survivor Australia? I don't. I guess. Okay. Yeah. Because they have like 30 people on there and it's insane. It's like there are, there are people on survivor Australia that you don't even know exists for the first seven episodes. And then suddenly there's a confessional with them and you're like, wait, who is that? You know, I think that it's like it would be hard to have that many people and be like faithful to their stories, which I think the survivor, you know, is trying to care about. But I don't know. I also think that they want this to be like a huge splash and so I could see them wanting to bring as many like fun and exciting people as possible. Yeah. Yeah. But I'm going along the same line and I don't think I talked to Brad about this. I think I was going also old school, like middle errand. Yeah. One for each forever ready mixing them up, maybe pick up the yard, bring you a little bit of the old school vibe of picking people from like the line, right? Yes. But I also thinking that during the challenges and different rewards and things like that, keep bringing people that are not part of the game. They were like, they're just getting invited for certain things. So then you get like, you know, a hundred people involved, 75 people involved from all the 200 plus people that have been involved in survivors since the beginning. I think that's the way to do it, to get as many people involved as possible. Big brother did, you know, some of that where they bring some of the, the alumni for challenges and just parts of different things. So I need to do something along those lines. What if you brought back 25 winners and 25 second place winners, okay? The winners are getting kicked out quickly. Hold on. Hold on. Listen. I got to make it. I got to make it for Heidi because I'm wearing a gun. Heidi's like, you're done. Yeah. The winners get out of here. Yeah. But, but it, but we make like a 10, 10 tribes or how we make them small, like five people in a tribe, five people, right? And you're mixed, but you got to rely on your tribe and and for like, and we send like five or six home in the first few weeks per episode, but we restock it. So now you don't know who you're getting on your team. So let's say you send Heidi home and then Franny shows up. You're like, Oh my gosh, you know, you get like, you don't know, you might be dealt a Boston Rob card. So you don't want to send anybody home because you've been working with this tribe for a week or two and you're like, I don't think the odds are what if I get stuck with, you know, Aussie and I mean, Aussie be great for fish, but maybe you don't like Aussie. Maybe there's history because you all know each other. Oh, I think that would make it kind of fun, at least for the first, like four weeks of the show. Some people from Ponderosa just like recycling them. Yes. You don't know who's coming in. It's just, it's surprise. Oh my gosh. There's, there's Boston Rob or, or, you know, you know, there's so many you could, there's Cochran. You know, you know, there's two favorite people. If we're both in 50 were in an alliance, but we're not telling anybody, okay? So tell Matt if he's there, there were all three of us just like telling anybody except for anyone who listens to this podcast, we'll know that secret back to every person who I've talked to probably like, oh, we're going to be in an alliance with just not telling anybody. I thought it was special and with you on that is different because you're my soca people. So let's be honest. I'm wearing a, I'm wearing a soca bracelet right now. Here's what I want. I want both of y'all own survivor 50 and I want there to be a scene where Franny's like sitting by the tree and it's been a hard day and she goes to feel like I'm just surviving the dice right now and you're like on Apple and Spotify and then Heidi goes, I really need a reality check with Brad and Heidi. I'm Spotify and I want to self promote because I want to see that. That's what I want. Yeah. If Heidi and I are there, we will do everything in our power to promote our podcast. We actually won't care about playing the game. It'll just be how many sound bites can we get of whatever podcast how many sound bites can you bring up about like Heidi can say, I feel like I'm hitting the floor right now, which we reviewed on this. I think I'm hitting the floor on Fox. No, you think I want to be asked. I do think the future, the 50 it should have a prize of $5 million. Whoa. It needs to be higher for 50. It's definitely be higher. They made it. I agree. I agree. I've worked in the cash. They're printing the money. I wish they'd go back to the live, the live winners. Yeah. I wish they'd do that. They need to do that for 50. Bring it back. We got to see it live. Right. Yeah. Listen, I'm going to start wrapping it up because we told Franny, I wasn't going to go too much over, but I know we can talk for hours and hours. So Franny, we heard about your podcast. We heard that you're still with Matt. Anything else you want to share with the people listening, what else is going on for you? What's next? Ooh. Well, we've talked about this a tiny bit, Heidi, but I am currently training for a marathon that is in October. Where at? Yeah. Where's the marathon? The Twin Cities marathon. No way. Do you want? Oh, my gosh. Yeah. I have to connect over there. She's introducing about them. Yeah. Yeah. And where can people follow you? What else is going on? And where can people follow you? Yeah. That's the main thing that is going on. And you know, I'll be watching season 47. I'm super excited for that. And I'll be probably talking about that online. But on everything I am at Hail the Veil, it's my handle. So easy to find me. There's my middle name in case anybody doesn't know what else from. Brad, do you want to wrap it up officially? Anything from you? I'm just thank you, Franny, for coming on and spending time. And I'm glad I got to see you outside of Chicago. Yeah. It's nice. Yes. I know. We have to do that again. That was so much fun. Yes. That was like one of my favorite events. Chicago. It was fun. I'm glad Heidi invited me because it was awesome. I brag about that to everybody I talked to. I just dropped clouds. Me too. Yeah. It was fun. I really enjoyed it. And it was nice. Nice to meet you. You're always welcome to come back. Chat with us too. Yes. Franny, thank you so much. Thank you. Oh, yeah. I'm pretty sure you'll be in '50. So I will be, if I don't make him their album to you for years. Girl, cross your fingers and cross your toes for me because, honestly, who even knows at the show? I know. I will. I will Heidi on Traitors and Survivor 50. That's my goal. Those biases there. But... Heidi, if Heidi goes in, you don't, Franny, will you sub in for Heidi on Reality Check with me? Yes. I will commit to that 100%. Yeah. If Heidi just goes Radio Silent during the filming of 50, you can hit me out, but I will be here. Yeah. We will need to... Will you do recaps with me to talk about Heidi on Survivor? Oh, because I was talking about myself and I wouldn't be able to, so... Yes. She wouldn't. So me and you could just come on and go. We watched last night's episode. Which is 11 to 15. We'll see what happens. Like, this is such a long shot, right? So we'll see. I want you in 50. It's my goal. We're going to get you. We're going to make it happen. Yeah. Thank you, Franny. We'll see. And thank you so much. And you love. Say hi to Matt. Yeah. Thank you. So good to see you. Bye. Bye. Bye.
