Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of Inside the Mine of KD. I am your host, Kelvin Drummond, and we begin today's festivities off with a football rule of mine. Don't trust USC quarterbacks. Do not fall for the trial. In this case, it's the big media trial. Number one, USC is in Los Angeles. So you already understand from that standpoint, okay, we are talking about the city of lights or whatever they call it, Hollywood. I'm not talking about the state of California. I'm being specific here. I'm talking about USC. Caleb Williams has been putting together a poor performance of the poor performance. And I'm not looking for the Ricky to come out day one and look like a franchise starter, even though when you had the amount of hype that was behind him. Don't get too upset that I'm halfway expecting that, because you were halfway expecting that too. But I've seen no flashes of competent quarterbacking. He thinks he's still in college. He's still running around in the pocket, holding onto the ball, trying to invade sacks and tacklers. So you gotta realize, this ain't the Pac-12. These are grown men who feed their families and who are the best of the best, and they have a game plan. Every team in this league will tell you they're going to need offensive line help, so you understand how good these defensive linemen across the league are. And that's who's coming for you. I don't care how much they weigh. They're going to get you. You will not evade them. You are not as athletic as you think. You're not the best player on the field anymore. I just ain't honest. It's 7-6 in that Sunday night game against the Texans. All offseason we were told how perfectly constructed this roster was. The right amount of veterans mixed with rookie talent, a solid defense, and crediting Hebrews all of a sudden. It was all beautiful. Here comes Caleb Williams, Heisman. I'm on one pick. But what really is the standout talent? They're comparing the Patrick Mahomes, and I got to tell you, that's always red flag number one. If you compare them to an all-timing, especially one that's currently playing, you just hate them. You're just sitting up there like, "Oh, there's another one of those to find." They make them like Patrick Mahomes. You know what I'm saying? You know damn well, he ain't nothing like Patrick Mahomes. Stop it. Stop the disrespect. So yeah, I'm telling you, from my standpoint, I never got on the Caleb Williams band, simply because I have a football room. Okay? I understand that. Many of you think I'm exaggerating, but please, tell me. Tell me the USC quarterback. Darnell. Kessler. Barkley. Sanchez. Leiner. Palmer. Marinovich. Which one? Which one did the workout for? None of them, outside of Palmer, maybe, was seen as a decent starting quarterback. Let a longer franchise start. Let a longer MVP, let a longer all-time great. It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. Not to mention how much it's said, man. You know, "Hey, Caleb is weird." He's got that vibe. He's going to have to work on that vibe. It's not just us. No one is that special. People in that locker room felt that vibe. In college, why say anything, things are going pretty great. People jobs on the line? Exhale, Bryce Young. How you can go? Speaking of Bryce Young. That brings me to football room number two. Don't trust Alabama quarterbacks. I'm sure you think it to yourself. Where do you get a quarterback from? But relax. Two colleges so far. There's over 150. Don't trust Alabama quarterbacks. And I understand this. Jalen Hertz transferred to Oklahoma. So technically, not only Alabama quarterback. They'll play a lot better at Oklahoma as well. Regardless. I'm not surprised at this Bryce Young. Right? What about Bryce Young? Said number one draft pick. What about Bryce Young? Said, "And it felt like." Well, y'all keep trying to get small guys to redefine this league. That ain't happened. Look at Kyle At Mertz. Quick as ever. Fast as shit. Got a talented deep ball. Paul's. So much so though. Highly injury ball. Small stature. Can't take big hits. Paul's. And he has to torque his whole body, Paul's. To get the ball down well. There's nothing to see him with the ice pack right around his shoulder. So, ultimately. You can see why a team would go after Kyle Atmarie, but you do have to consider. Those cards. Russell Wilson. A little different. Built style. Right? Like Russell was, had a great athleticism. And he looked like he was an NFL player. Bryce Young. It's not the same. And so, let's forget about the fact that the Panthers are a horrible organization right now. What has Bryce Young shown you? Guys, we've seen great quarterbacks on bad teams. It doesn't look like this. You've seen good quarterbacks on bad teams. It doesn't look like this. You've got to see something. The funniest clip I've seen going around on the highlights of Bryce Young is him evading to the outside pocket to the left. And he's about to get tackled and it's as if he thinks that the fender is going to kind of wrap him up and throw him to the ground. And he just mows them. And it's like, yeah, because you're like five, you're like five nine. I'm telling you, it's a funny shot. But I honestly don't know what the Panthers saw. I don't know what the NFL scouts saw. And my reason why you don't trust Alabama quarterbacks is they got too much talent. So I say that at least for the savor air, don't take the Alabama quarterback. They had everything they needed around them. The best coaches, the best facilities, the best press handlers. All right, I'm not even getting on the field yet where you got all the five stars. But I'm just talking about how fundamentally sound everything goes for you to be able to focus on your goal of making it to the NFL. If you're Alabama quarterback in the savor area, which is like a 75% chance every quarterback should win a national championship at least one. That's crazy. You cannot take those guys. Those guys are not, they are not the ones uplifting. If Alabama ever had a quarterback who was worth a number one draft pick or worth a damn in the NFL. Do you understand how great that college team would look? That's like if Cam Newton would have been at Alabama. You see, we do it all right. Are you serious? So understand. You, you, these things, some of these things matter, man, who you're playing with, what your schedule is. But with Bryce Young, yo, shout out to Bryce Young. I hope you got, you know what I'm saying, you got some money on your home and I ain't counting your pockets or nothing. I'm just saying, it had to be a nice little payday to set you up for life. Make some moves with that. But why would another team want Bryce Young? What are we building on here? What are we ultimately hoping for? Honestly, what are we ultimately hoping for? The only way we've seen him have success is everything is perfect around him. Who's got that? To NFL, who's got that? People talking about Miami. They already got one entry pro goddamn quarterback. You want to bring in a small one? The 49ers? Look at them, man. They getting tired of carrying quarterbacks. Speaking of that, 49ers. Don't be a tough season, I'm telling you. Debo Samuels is now down with an injury. Starting out the season one-on-one. I'm telling you, Debo and Brad, you get some of these guys were on a podcast talking. I don't have the verbatim, but yo, the feeling is mutual. We should have won by now. Guys are getting older. Guys are demanding their money. This is no longer an open window. This is the end of it. Christian McCaffrey still not back. I was wondering if the 49ers will win the division. I thought it might have been the Rams. That's folks that is not happening. What I did not realize with the Rams, Aaron Donald is retired. That changed my whole outlook for the Los Angeles Rams. We'll see what the Seattle Seahawks do, and we'll see what this dynamic duo potentially we have in Arizona does. First two catches of Marva Harrison Jr. will touch down. This was the lone ball. It kept the two toes in. Oh, we might have something. As long as Kylie can stay up, we might have something. We might have something here. I'm not talking about playoff success. I'm not talking about Super Bowls or anything of the sort. I'm just talking about fun football to watch on television. 'Cause Kylie Murray finding Marvin Harrison. Oh, that's going to come with some highlights then, boy. That's going to come with some end of the game. Thrillers right there, boy. That's going to be nice to watch. I'm telling you, I'm telling you. I'm telling you. We got to get that. That's got to be on some primetime. They're going to have to put some flexors in for the Arizona Cardinals. They're going to have to. We got James Conant running back. We got Marvin Harrison. What should they have? They don't have Hopkins anymore, do they? No, Hopkins out of there. Hopkins is definitely out of there. But look, man, that there could be some fun games to watch on the Cardinals schedule this year. Like I said, as long as Kylie Murray can stay healthy. And of course, Marvin Harrison, but more so Kylie. He's got injury history. But, man, they play the Lions on Fox 425. Oh, I'm going to go. I'm tuning in. Oh, I'm tuning in. I'm tuning in. We're still at the four o'clock game, Raven Cowboys. Oh, we got a last button channel game. We about to be flipping back and forth. 49ers rounds. Hey, hey. I don't really care about that one. But all four o'clock window going to be nice. We'll have to get them that man early. You know, these trash one o'clock games. Giant's Brown. Packer's Titans. Bears, Colts. All the Anthony Richardson. Let me touch on Anthony Richardson for a second here. So the Anthony Richardson things is funny to me because I remember when he was in college. And I followed the Gators pretty heavy. But at that point, I was a little down on college football when Anthony Richardson was there. Especially on the Gators. It's just been such a lowly, lowly draw season after season. Oh man, 2006 to 2008 was one of time. What a tie. At any rate. That was some good football. That was some good football. But my thing about it is anytime Florida, at that point in time for me. Like I said, I wasn't watching that much. But if I could see, if I saw the scoreboard, you know, if I heard whispers. From my friends and family telling me about what was going on, how to check them out. And Anthony Richardson really never came up. Like they would say like the quarterback is pretty good. But, you know, a lot of mistakes, a lot of overthrows. And it was kind of a split feeling on how talented the skill players around him was. Or if he himself could become more accurate. But definitely he was the star of the offense. But I didn't hear much about like NFL, you know, talk anything. Until of course, drive time came up, and they were projecting him. And he went by a pick. And he went number four to the Colts. And so now I got to be honest. I'm doubling back trying to find out what I missed out about this player that I could have been watching on one of my favorite college football teams. And I'm like, okay, he's a monster. Check. The deep ball is crazy. Check. He's athletic. Check. Okay. I understand the draft pick now. And I saw the highlights. My goodness. Bless by the Lord. To throw the football like that. My goodness. But then you kind of see what he's like on that. And that's kind of how I was playing out in the NFL. All right, the highs are high. But, but we mostly look. It's mostly not, most of the time, it's not really going the way we like it together. So then I'm like, yeah, I'm starting to be like, yeah, I wasn't, I really shouldn't allow the media to tell me about who at my team that I root for. Who's good? Who's got the stock potential? I'll let you up now. Okay. Florida is really the only team I've found. That in the U of seven. And, yeah, football, I let go of all my teams. We rockin' with Lamar. We rockin' with Lamar. Basketball, yeah, we just here for a good time. So, yeah, but I feel like I'm pretty much going to be right. Unfortunately for Anthony Richardson, but, you know, as far as, as far as that high ceiling in him, you know, obtaining it, I'm not, I'm not betting my money on it. I'll put it like that. Oh, let's see here. What else do I want to get into before we get up out of here? Uh, the Chiefs and the Bengals battle. All right, Chiefs went out, come out with the one point win, 26 to 25. A lot of turnovers in this game. Um, Jamar Chase is mad. Boy, when there's money now, he is, he is upset like I'm talking about. Woo! Boy, 38. I mean, he is losing. Got the, got the penalty on, on, on the, on the catch. Uh, I guess he, he felt like the defender did the hip drop on him. He was demanding that flag, losing his coo, losing his coo. Yeah, he, he, he, man, look at, I don't know why they thought the Bengals was out here putting up, handing out money. That's still the Bengals. That's why I understand this whole optimism thing. Yeah, you know, Joe Burrow pretty good when he got the X-Man with him. When he got there with the Avengers. You know what I'm saying? You, you put some superpowers around the head. Yeah, he'd be good. You ask him to carry something. So he got one, he got one versus, he got one Avenger sitting out. 'Cause he won't, 'cause they told him they're not gonna pay him. He just had to sign the franchise tag. So, you know, he like, yeah, right. You know what, my body, my body is still in here. I ain't waitin'. You see I just marked Chase reacting right now. Joe mixing is gone. Now he just lookin' at Joe. Last time I saw Joe, without the talent. We didn't know about Joe. So, yeah. As far as for the Chiefs, that Xavier worthy hype is finally quieted now. Thankfully, oh my goodness. Oh, they all love speed, right? They all love speed. I understand, but there's more to the game. It's more to the game. And it looks like Mahole's gonna have to find a new favorite target, 'cause Kelsey has not been an active part in the offense past first two games yet. Not, not been heavily involved. And it makes sense, he is Asian. You know, he doing the tennis. Well, thing nine, you know, he lost all his swag. Yeah, he ain't in the something different now. He ain't living a new life. Is he enjoying that new life? I don't know. Either way. Maybe the plan is to save 'em. Until they need 'em towards the end of the season and to the play. Maybe that's, you know, maybe that's the plan. Keep 'em pressed. But, along the way, Mahole's just gonna have to find a new favorite target. Will it be received right? Pacheco is out for the injury. Like I said, in the Xavier worthy hike, quiet it down. It's kind of hard for that to be a target, a constant, you know, target from Patrick Mahole. He's not a guy like that. So, yeah, I think last thing I want to get into, of course. I think I got to get into it. It's got to be the Baltimore Raiders. Who at some point, at some point, please, please, please. You got to fire this head coach. You got to get Harbaugh up out of heaven, saying this for years. And Dicosta got to go too. Dicosta is getting so much benefit of the doubt. One, 'cause he's white man. Two, based off Aussie Newsom's success. He is being shadowed and protected by that so much. Aussie Newsom drafted Lamar Jackson. Kyle Hamilton's pretty good. I'm trying to think of who are all Dicosta picks. Don't tell me what he was a part of until my sense Aussie was out. And John Harbaugh was on his way out until a Joe Flacco injury saved his job. 'Cause in steps, Lamar generational Jackson. And we're not even going to pay attention to the common commentators who constantly find ways to critique and blame Lamar Jackson. It's a simple explanation. They don't watch the game. They don't watch the game. And I also want to point out in that game against the rate of an end that loss. Lamar Jackson gets a flag thrown. I'm sorry, Lamar Jackson in the Kansas City game takes that big hit going out of the sideline, delivers that big hit. And he gets criticized for that. And he says in the press conference that the reason he did that is 'cause the referees don't give him the flag typically when he's out of bounds and he gets hit late. So he's not taking that. He's not just going to let them do that. Fast forward to the Raiders game. He gives himself up, goes out of bounds. No flag. And you can even hear the commentators during the game suggesting, well technically he's still, the game is about protecting the quarterback at all costs. If the quarterback gives himself up, you are to allow the quarterback free range. They don't put a rule in. These dudes don't even know how they got to stop themselves from falling down on the quarterback during a sec. Let that get called as a penalty. And Lamar Jackson can't get a call for being decapitated out of the way. On the way to the sideline? It was the same thing for Cam Newton. But we know that I have to protect our boys. I don't understand the use of Derrick Henry, but that's been taught that nozzle. So I don't even have to get into that. Look, man, look, I really wish the team would focus more on a two tight end set using, you know, utilizing Isaiah likely and Mark Andrews. Those are big catch windows for Lamar Jackson and puts a heavier set out there. You got Derrick Henry, that right now, like punish these team. These defenses have gone small as a passily. All this gimmicky stuff, man. Yeah, no way, no way. Lamar's gonna have to play a little ISO, more ISO. Teammates, I'm not even familiar, like Zayflowers, Zayflowers is Hollywood, man. It's reincarnated. It's the same thing. I mean, they keep describing him as a weapon. He's not a weapon. They just got rid of that type of weapon, because it's not a weapon. They looked at it, they put it on the holster, and they realized in the fight, oh, guess what? It's actually not a weapon. The sharp statement, it's not a weapon. There's nothing out there to challenge that defense. To challenge that's not one single, every single defense that plays the Raven, it's just, it's just eyes on the bar. We're not worried about anybody beating us deep. So we're just going to force these tight windows, and it'll be easy, because no one out here is a freaking nation. They're all like five, ten. Yo, put likely, and Mark Andrews out there. Big catch radius allows you to do a lot of things that Lamar's good at, and likes to do. Lamar likes to attack the middle of the field, even in his running. He likes to go down the middle. He does not like the exert energy going in and out. Going to the outside lane. No, let me find the lane and be direct. Every yard, every movement is to gain vertically. Even if I have to sidestep it, I'm not trying to get to the point where I have to run away somewhere. That's why he's got so much energy in the fourth quarter. But there's going to have to be more ISO, unless they can get, man, I still don't understand how you get rid of Greg Roman, and then you bring in a Georgia offensive coordinator. Like Georgia is known for diverse offense. Georgia is just, they're, they're just running the ball and play great defense. They got hella recruits. Like, I don't understand what is going on. Why don't you just mimic everybody else and go get a shadow hand? Uh, descend it. Like, what are we doing right now, man? Let's go pick one of the coaches off the shadow hand tree. My goodness. My goodness. But no more will, you know. No more going to do what it does. Never seen a player like him. Never seen a player like him. But that's going to be all for today.
