We move on from roster minutiae to the big questions that will shape the arc of the Eagles’ season. Have Kellen Moore and Jalen Hurts put a plan in place to succeed against the blitz? Is Saquon Barkley going to have a monster season? How ready is Quinyon Mitchell?

Sheil Kapadia joins Bo Wulf for a classic, inscrutable game of specific Eagles predictions with confidence points attached while Zach Berman chimes in from a distance. Strap in.

[MUSIC PLAYING] Hello, everybody. And welcome to the PHOA Eagles podcast on a Wednesday afternoon, Bow Wolf, Shill Kapadia, and Zach Berman. Zach, you were originally going to miss this episode. Be down at the Novocara Complex. Yeah. And you just had it in the back of your head. I know you did. You just said, I can't miss a show with Shill. Yeah, when friends-- This is your job. When friends get together, it's fun, right? And this is fun. We don't get to do this very often. You don't want to talk business right away the minute you sit down? So no, this is fun. And then-- Yeah, you can't be in two places at once. There are-- You're-- You're-- There's some stories that I'm working on that I'm excited to release to our diehards and all our fans. And so some guys I was expecting to talk to wasn't going to work out. It was a confined period today. And I said, you know what? I should be here with the two of you. Enjoy it. Shill, how you doing? I'm just glad you did the emergency pass last night because I realized I was coming in the day after cut down day. And I'm like, I don't want to sit there for 45 minutes and you yelling about Trevor Keegan or whatever you were doing last night. So thank you to everyone for getting that out of the way. And now we can kind of move on. I'm sure you-- I mean, you're right. It's like, this is the most consistent thing in my life is bow the day after cut down day, yelling about some offensive line roster thing. It's unbelievable. I've been-- I'm still up in arms about it. Even though Dylan McMahon apparently will be returning to Eagles practice squad. What is the news now that the waiver wire stuff has been processed, Zach? No one from the Eagles was claimed elsewhere. And the Eagles were not awarded anyone on the waiver wire. So if the Eagles do make any changes, it'll have to be via free agency. But Nick Gates is expected to resign with the Eagles. I expect him to be the backup center for week one. Well, E.J. Jenkins is expected to resign with the Eagles. When I say resign practice squad, he'll probably be tight end three unless the Eagles add a veteran here. So we'll monitor that. My one piece of comment-- because I do like Bow's annual 53 rant. I said this on Anthony's show. And I say this lovingly, with respect. One of the cool pieces of confidence that I should emulate from Bow is it's never that he got the 53 wrong. It's that the Eagles got the 53 wrong. He had the comment last night. We shouldn't take them for their word, that they're just smart. But you should take me and my word that I know exactly. So yeah, so it's like-- I stand up. It's the confidence that they were wrong. I don't think I'd love that. Unbelievable. Honestly, some of those things are true. Some of them are not-- I think they made the right decision with E.J. Jenkins is going to be able to get it through the practice squad. I don't think that they necessarily made the right decision having to keep James Bradbury on the roster as the 12th defensive back. I don't think they've ended up making the right decision on McMahon, but it worked out well. He'll be on the practice squad. This team is not like the best team in the world. They're not infallible. No, I rip them all the time. So what you rip them about is funny to me. Very on-brand for you, yes. Yeah, I mean, if we don't care about the margins, then we don't care about the big things. I don't know about that. By the way, Shookapati of the Ringer article up today on five big questions facing the Seagull season. We've got 10 big questions for you today. A new game, we figured if you're going to be sitting in this seat, we've got to have an inscrutable game that is a bunch of different questions, but also confidence points. We're going to call it quail to the victors for Zack, now that he's here today. Yeah, I got a text last night. What was it, 930? That said a little bit of homework. A long list of questions with some weird scoring system. And I said, I'll be there tomorrow and answer them on the fly. I'm not doing it if I have some time in my car, but as I'm waiting for you to let me in before the show, I'll do it. Otherwise, I can figure it out on the fly. Then we did have some time out there, and I started going through it. And even then I go, I'm not doing this. So we'll do it on the fly. This is where I emulate your confidence, because I was at home this morning preparing to send something. You were doing follow-up questions. And I think this was a good lesson for me to take, and Zack can have you to blame now that it's not worth doing any show prep. I won't give any heads up about what's coming on the show. We'll just show up and do the show. Is that okay with you, Zack? No, no, I'm a prep guy, so. Well, I'm fairly not chill. Anything else? I don't want anyone to watch the show before we get to the game. Well, I was going to send Julia, as I told her, my actual lab results from the strep throat second time in a month. Thank you to Zack, nice friend believing in me, checking in on me after the fact. Somebody else going on multiple episodes, questioning a man's sickness when he doesn't want to come in and infect his friends. So, Zack checked in. I believe, man-ish checked in, you know, how you feelin' by everything that you need, anything. And then there's both. So, you're just a good, good, different levels of friendship. All I'm saying is you can't take it as fact. That's all, I mean, if you're a journalist and someone tells you they're sick, do you say they are sick or do you say they said they were sick? I was irked by this, and I had the idea that if Zack wasn't going to be here today, maybe I'd just stand bow up. Like, guys, I wouldn't do good content. He's gotta go on into a clock regardless of the fucking, don't show up, go ahead, tough guy, you know, question a man's dreamt throat. So, just keep up. Yeah, I mean, I do think that that would've been a good long running bit. Well, maybe next time. So, Joey has known me for about 30 years now, 25 years. And probably the most scared that she's ever seen me was I was hosting a show this summer, and we had a guest co-host in who, great guy, he didn't park in our lot. He parked a few blocks away and he was walking and he got here a few minutes in. And so, I had to do like the first eight minutes of the show on my own. I don't remember that. I was scared out of my mouth. You know, who do I pitch a question to? And I'm just sort of rolling, it was, it's kind of like when you leave a voicemail to a girl, like when you're going on a date the first time. I've never done that. If you just keep rolling, you don't know when to stop. Swears, this is, yeah. Yeah, so, it's kind of like-- Well, I'm actually glad you brought that up, Zack. 'Cause, Shil, you've been doing these Sunday night solo pods. How do you find the solo endeavor? It doesn't matter how I find them. It doesn't matter how they are. It doesn't matter. He's telling you, like he's a little-- Well yeah, that's, I mean, he's just, he's wrong. You would, you should be very, you could easily do a half an hour right now on the Eagle. But I prep for it, yeah. You don't even, you prep in your head, you're in the shower. You literally can't sleep because you're thinking about this dumb stuff about roster machinations. You're in your car, all you're thinking about. I mean, this is all you think about. Of course, you can do 30 minutes. You just need to organize it in your head. What's a question? Pretend you're asking yourself a question. What was the biggest surprise of cut down then you can do five minutes. You know, it would be very easy. You write those bad boys down, you read it from a script, you're like, what are you doing? I don't read everything, but I have organized notes there. OK. Yeah. I think they're getting good. Oh, getting good, OK. I've been bad before. No, no, they've been very good, but I'm impressed. Thank you. They're very good. Thank you. Appreciate that. I think that's a tough skill to be the solo guy. Wait for the other shoe to drop here? That's it? OK, he's making up. He now he feels bad. Now he feels guilty about the strep thing. OK, all right. Yeah, we'll see how you handle this game that requires you to know what all the questions are as we go along. And you have not done that, but that's OK. Before we get to the game, Zach, a super chat from Jack who asks, do we know who they attempted claims on yet? That has not come out yet, right? Great question, Jack. Don't have that information yet, but I will work on it for you. But we do know that your boy, Donald Parham, is going elsewhere for now to, I believe, the Bucks practice squad? No, I believe the Broncos. Broncos, OK. Broncos and I, and did Broncos have Joe Lombardi, who's the former OC, with the Chargers solo connection there. Also of no Jack Driscoll. I saw the former Eagle offensive lineman, valuable versus offensive lineman, released by the Dolphins after making their initial 53. So it would not be surprised to see him come back at all, right? Yeah, I mean, he's more tackle guard. We've been talking more about interior player, but certainly from a practice squad perspective, he is trusted depth. She'll one more question before we get going. Yeah. Any advice for Fran? You know, that's the other, my other beef with you. I would have liked to give a little, I could have given a video message to Fran for the Ospreys. You know, Zach, I do remember being part of Ospreys' shows before, then my good friend Fran joins the show, and nothing asked of me. You know, what did you get? I know what am I saying? Marissa was on my side with this, with the group, Jack. So I don't know. I will take absolutely. No, this is completely unfair. You were supposed to come in the day before when we were going to record something, and then you're sick. Done. And I'm taking you out your words on your sick that you've got stripper. You weren't going to want to bother you. You weren't taking me out your words. Nice try. I didn't want to bother you. If you want to manage it, Jake, can you imagine what you're glad they're doing? The response from Shiel. If he gets a text while he's lying in bed, couldn't be any more. Can I record a video for the Ospreys? No, as if you would not have the world's biggest outrage about that. First of all, that's false. I said it. Can I do the show remote? We couldn't do the show remote. I was still potting. I was still working for Fran. I would have been happy to do it. So advice for Fran? No, he doesn't need my advice. I've been, you know, a great feeling in life is when you feel like that joy for someone else, that you know, like, oh, they're getting this chance. They're going to absolutely kill this, their life's going. And that's how I feel about this for Fran. So yeah, he doesn't need any of my advice. But maybe you'd want to see a little bit more of those muscles. Well, no, I get-- yeah, the arms looked good. I told him he was on with Cuz, a nice black shirt. The hair was looking good. He's looking great. And well, I'm sure we'll see some legs in the, you know. He did when he flashed the Vic Fangio socks the other day. And he gave the viewers a little taste of thought. I just love how we hired one of the preeminent football minds in the intermediate, someone who is going to flourish here, a bigger form. Could talk about the whole league here. And the first two shows, he comes on after a Whitney Houston rendition, and he has to act out as a, so he was never actually like Fran the analyst in his first week here. It's a good introduction to two of the PH.O.I. Eagles show. I'll say, I can't get it. And also, by the way, go ahead. I'll have ZB role-playing, because he has 7,000 nuggets about mixed serious life in his head. And every answer, he's like, as I said, in 1986, on the highway, in Ohio, and some wonder. I don't know this about the guy. And they're all coming out there. And you're in the very serious tunnel. And say, yeah, I do enjoy those. Yeah, I've always thought, like, if the coaches get a scouting report on the reporters, you know? So he gets hired, and he sits down with the PR staff. And they're like, all right, tell me about each of these reporters. And I can only imagine the conversation was. So this guy here was on a podcast last night, where he talked about where you and your wife met in Kansas City. And it's like, I haven't met him. Why is he talking about that on the podcast? Yeah, so yeah, I probably spooked him out from the beginning. Well, would your scouting report be? On Zach? No, for you. And what do you think? If a guy would be bald in the indie and probably going to find most of what you say more, probably not going to be saying much attention. Yeah, mine would be a weird guy who's going to take a lot of offense to insignificant things. Yeah, I think that's right. It's kind of so paked. Another super chat from Andrew, who says-- This is the greatest. People just paying that. I need to figure out a way to start doing this. I'll give it to charity or so every time you read one, I'm like, wait, so now I can see it. $4.99, man. Just took out of his pocket to ask you to a question. I can't believe it. And the question is about you. He says, Zach. She claims to not be an Eagles fan, even though he's from Philly. But he's too negative to not be. Grill him for me, please. No, I agree with this. I mean, look, I've had this conversation with my father-in-law for nine years now, 10 years now. Is that when you get into this business and you do this job, you are loyal to your work. You're loyal to yourself. And you have to kind of remove that. Now, the one thing I'll say is you're not desensitized. Like, you recognize you do a show, Philly Spet. No, you do a lot of shows, but you do a show, Philly special. You've written about the Eagles before. Like, you have to have the connection with the fan base and understand the pulse of them, but you can't be as emotionally invested in the outcomes as the people you serve. Yeah, nobody ever believes it, which the only person who believes it probably is my wife because the Eagles lose. And my mood has not changed at all. It's like, do I-- is this podcast going to be good or bad? Is this column going to be good or bad? But I'm with you. I like that I'm able to understand. I was in those shoes, friends, family members. So it's not like, ah, these, you know-- Yeah, exactly. --room for a foot. It's not like it's beneath me. I do root for other teams. But yeah, that is honestly how it is. Now, I will say the negadelphia thing. Yeah, that's I'm able to relate. And sometimes I would say I probably am harder on the Eagles than other teams, just because you know more about them. You're closer to it, that kind of thing. So I think that's a valid point you make. I just picked up-- For $4.99? I just picked up my daughter at the airport right before the show. She's three. She was fine with her grandma. And they were telling me the story of on the flight, like the guy that they were sitting next to was talking about something about the Eagles. And Jane pipes in, she's like, oh, my daddy likes the Eagles. And I had to fight so hard to not, like, correct my daughter. My three-year-old, like, Jane, I don't like the Eagles. I correct not the deal. I do that all the time. That's terrible. I correct read on it, but my son has the jerseys, has, like, the necklaces. But I've always thought the best combination is to not have, from a reporter's perspective, is to not have that fanaticism, but to understand and, like, appreciate that fanaticism. So, like, you're not speaking at them. Like, you can be among them without kind of having the emotional attachment. And to be fair, I actually think that this is a question better posed to Fran when he comes on, because this is a little bit of a different transition. You know, when you work for the team, you are working for the team. You're in the building with all these people, and you're not for nothing. If they win a Super Bowl, you're going to a ring, right? So you're part of it, right? So now that he is not there, we should unpack that at some point. Yeah, I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with him. Like, you don't have to change to do the job. No, of course not, right, OK. All right. I guess we can finally get to the game unless we have more super chats. All right, quail to the victors. Here's the idea. I have set up 10 different questions that all three of us have to answer. They're either, you know, either ores or yes or no's. But then we also have to assign each of our answers confidence points from 1 to 10. And at the end of the season, we will tally it up and see who came out on top. The first question about the quarterback. Will Jalen Hertz finish in the top six in MVP voting this season last year, unranked out of 10 people. In 2022, he finished second out of 15 people who ended up getting votes. Where do you stay in SHIELD? What are your expectations for the Jalen Hertz season? So I have 10 confident, only one thing can get a 10. And that's my most confident. OK, you got to go. But I didn't read the questions before. So I don't know what to assign a 10. OK, so you're just flying by the senior pitch. I've been more or less confident than now. You said top six. Top six. And how many people can get an MVP as many people as possible? And it's now you vote for five. OK. So last year, there were 10 people who ended up getting votes in 2022. There were 15 people who ended up getting votes. Now, how did you choose six? I felt like an OK middle ground. It's basically top five quarterbacks, usually. OK, yeah, I mean, I've been pretty consistent. I've had a very hard time. Probably my entire life. This, I don't remember, not having a feel for what I think the team's going to do this close to the season. Like I do this year. Ultimately, I think Jalen Hurts is going to have a good season. All the pieces around him are in place. And if you look at MVP, historically, it's like quarterback for one of the top two teams in each conference. And I think the Eagles have a chance to be that. I don't know that they're going to be. So top six, I feel like it is pretty achievable for him among the quarterbacks. Well, I will say yes to that. And I will assign it a confidence rating of six. Well, we'll keep with the theme. There you go. Can I misinterpret? Here we go again. Here we go again. Here we go again. What do you know is that? I thought ranking one to 10. Yeah. Oh, these 10 questions. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's giving it a six. He doesn't know the questions that are to come. He's just blindly ranking. Oh, gosh, I saw you. That was too much work. No, I didn't understand. You did understand it. OK, because you can't be six. So OK, you're not giving what your confidence rating is. You're giving it where you rank it among the 10. Of your-- of how confident you are about the answer. Number one. No, no, no, no. Yeah, so the thing you're most confident about is a 10. Yeah, you have to answer every question. I did, yes. And then assign it how one to 10, how confident you are of your answer. So it's not just the idea that Jill and her to finish is in the top six. It's how confident you are in the answer of yes or no. Yes, but each one, so of these 10 questions, one gets one, one gets two. Correct. All right, so I do have it correct. OK, all right, all right. I want to make sure. OK, yeah, this is what it's all about. I mean, to me, to discuss the rules discussion, that's the height of the show. So just John Hurts finished the top six in MVP voting. I'm going yes on this. And I'm going yes on this because I think the Eagles are going to be one of the top six teams in the NFL, or I think they're going to be one of the better teams in the NFL. And he's the quarterback of the team. I think as long as he's healthy, he's going to have a really good year. I've been on record saying this, that the skill position players are as good as they've been. I can speak from a historical context of 25 years at the Eagles because I have a book coming out next month on the next 25 years. I think you can go up for a franchise history. Yeah, so I think the terrific skill position players. Could you imagine if we had that teleportation device that got Tom Koff on here yesterday, if we were able to teleport AJ Brown and Devontay Smith to the 1960 Eagles? How insane that would be? I think if you saw a board of them to the 2002 Eagles down because that team was loaded and they didn't have wide receivers. Also, you don't want to be playing wide receiver for those 90s. I mean, you're going to get a better score to be worse. Yeah, so I mean, in many ways, you might die. So yeah, in many ways, actually. If Jaylen stays healthy, if Jaylen stays healthy, I really like him with these skill players. They have to stay healthy in front of him on the offensive line. But I wasn't impressed with him this camp. I think he's going to be good. I think he's going to be a good year. I'm not saying he's going to be MVP. But I think top six is certainly achievable. And I gave this seven out of the 10. I do think from now on, since Zach gave his answers to Julia ahead of time, let's save Zach's answers for last. And then you and I will guess how well we know, Zach, which one he bet on. Wow. Today, a lot of it is a side game. OK. Yeah, so I'm going yes here, but I'm a little bit less confident than you guys. I'm not 100% on board with-- Jaylen's going to like to league on fire this year. I think there are a lot of moving parts in the offense. I think the handling, the pre-snap responsibility stuff is something that needs to be proven before we see it. We're going to get to the blitz conversation, but they have to prove that they can answer that. And I'm a little bit on the same page with you, Shiel, about how you've been talking about this offensive line. I'm not 100% sure that the offensive line is going to be good. I mean, they should be. But they've got to go out and prove that as well. And I was thinking about Jaylen, Zach, we always talk about the best game of his life was that Super Bowl game, right? Sure. And we also talked that week. About that week, we had never seen him so loose. Yes, you're right. Right? Like, it was different than we had ever seen him before. Yeah. And he went out and played this amazing game. Like, I don't know, maybe there was a lesson there for Jaylen Hertz. Maybe he doesn't have to be so tightly wound all the time. Do you want to tell him that? Yeah, I'm sure he would respond very well to that. Yeah. It's a very good observation. It's actually something that he should hear, perhaps take the heart. He's been looser this summer. But everyone's kind of loosing the summer. And you don't know how much of it, too, is intentional. Everything with him is intentional. But they tell him to smile more, you know, lighten up a bit. We'll see. We'll see what happens during the year. There was an landscape story that I read yesterday. I apologize that I don't have the author's name. I've caught my head, but nice job on that piece. And, you know, he kind of talked about what his personality is like going into the years. So you can check that out. And I imagine there are going to be more pieces you can read on that topic. Mark, Kenzie Johnson. Thank you. Maybe Nick could tell him loosing up a little bit. Yeah. I mean, what else is he doing, right? Wow. Before we keep going, let's talk about it. Because I were friends. As I pull this up, if I can find the tab. Zach. You want me to take it? If you don't mind. OK, let me pull up. Need me to do 30 on the online or something. OK, so we are Wednesday here. And the first thing I want to talk about is our friends. All right, back to the game. We've got ready for our second question of 10 as we're almost halfway through the episode. I think we got a super chat. Dewey, Jason, Beau. Super chats. Can you go over the rules one more time? What is the team CCC? If someone's giving you money for something, they want you for a whole service, except the money and do the service, you know? There you go, I. Jason, he wants to know the rules in the game one more time. So here's the rules, Zach and Sheila. I have 10 questions. You answer them and then you rank them one to 10 in your order of confidence. Got it. Okay, next up. Let's talk about the Blitz. Will the Eagles finish in the top 10 in EPA per dropback against the Blitz this season? Four context. Last year, they were blitzed at the third highest rate in the league and finished 17th in EPA per dropback against the Blitz in 2022. They finished 11th despite being blitzed, or with being blitzed at the fourth highest rate. Kellen Moore, though, was 10th against the Blitz in 2023, third against the Blitz in 2022 and 11 against the Blitz in Dallas in 2021. I know you had the long deep dive podcast on Kellen Moore with Sean Sayyad, which everybody should listen to. How do you feel? How confident do you feel that the Eagles have solved their issues against the Blitz? True, you don't want to go success rate on this bad boy. Yeah, I mean, it's too late now, but-- Okay, I know. I'm probably better, yeah. I'm not confident, no. Going back to what you pointed out with the offensive line questions, and it's a totally different operation this year than it's been in the past with Jason Kelsey getting them set up and now it's Jalen Hertz and Kim Jurgens in addition to getting the protection set. It's do we have a motion on this play? All right, motion, snap the ball in time so that we don't get a penalty. There's a lot of moving parts. I think it could be pretty ugly in the beginning of the season. I think the hope would be by the time you get to week seven, week eight, you're like, all right, I feel more comfortable here with this, but we have to see. I mean, we're going to get a lot of answers on Jalen Hertz this year. Kellen Moore has coordinated top level offenses before. Kellen Moore's quarterbacks have been very good against the Blitz before. Like they've done all these different things. So now this year, if we're saying Jalen Hertz isn't throwing the ball over the middle, Jalen Hertz is bad against the Blitz, we're going to know other variables to play, but we're going to know that's on Jalen Hertz. So I would say slight improvement. I don't think it's going to look as ugly as it did last year where it was just like, what are they doing? I think they'll have more answers to get to their hot routes with this offense than they did last year. But I'm a no, what was it, top what? Top 10. Yeah, I'm going to be a no on that. And I feel like I feel a little bit more confident than the last one in this one. So I'm going to give this, a top 10 is hard. I know you gave the numbers and they're not as bad, but there's some variance with the EPA stuff. So I'm going to give this a eight for my confidence level. - I'm also giving this a no and I'm giving it a six. And I don't want to overvalue what we saw this summer, but I think when we did see Jalen Hertz on the offense struggle, it was against the blitz. It happened in New England. You were watching that day, Zach, and it happened a couple of times as that week went on against Vic Fangio. And I do think that this is a real question that they have to answer. I also think, I mean, they're going to get blitzed a ton. It was in the sando quarterback tears thing, right? Like they're going to make them prove that they can beat this. I think they're actually going to look okay, like week one, because you have so much time to prepare for week one. It's like, once you get into the flow of the season, week two, week three, week four, when you're not, you don't have time for like a special game plan. How do they perform? I think that is when you might see some growing pains. - So we have to now choose Zach's, is that-- - I'm going to guess that Zach says yes. - Yes, no, I have got Zach as a no, but I don't think he feels that confident about it. I'm going to have him as a, you can't change Zach by the way. - Joy has to be on the crunch. - I've got Zach as a no for. - I've got Zach as a yes too. - Wow. - It is no two. - Oh, okay, it's pretty good. - It's a good job. - I have a harder time. I don't think the Eagles are going to be great against the blitz this year. I have a harder time giving confidence levels when the other, when the variables of the other teams in the league are involved, 'cause I don't know how other teams are going to do against the blitz. I have a better, you know, there's the next question, for instance, I have more confidence in my answer because it's not variable based on the other teams. - What do you mean? Every variable is going to be, they play another team every week. - No, but I understand what you said. The next one is like a sequang yard. - Sorry, I remember having done the whole work. - Yeah, it's awesome. - So that's continuing. - That's what I mean. By the way, you mentioned Jason Kelsey about this, a hundred million dollars for the pod. I just want to get credit to you guys, like seven years ago, you guys start a podcast, okay? You're upstairs, you're upstairs in the Eagles Media House. - I'm sorry. - I don't believe that this is, we deserve credit here. - And now I'm sitting here, you do. We're talking to my computer by myself. - We're making 4.99 a comment. - What are you talking about? - I'll say, you guys, good money. - Well, I know it is, but. - You guys had the foresight that like, this is where things are going. Do you think if you went up the Jason Kelsey seven years ago and you're like, do you want to come on birds with friends? He'd be like, sure, yeah, he probably didn't know this is going to be-- - No, he would have done it. We probably should have done it. - We should have. - Yeah, that job by us. - I'll say, my point is, there's going to be a generation of fans, it's going to be like John Madden or Charles Barkley where like they won't know this guy as this all pro center. They'll know this guy as like this media sensation. 100 million dollars, now it's not off for him. But it shows you what this pod's done. - Well, I have told this story before. It's not quite as successful, but with Chris Long, Chris Long had said like entering his, what ended up being his last season that he's thinking he wants to do a podcast afterwards. And I went up to him. I was like, you know, like, I think like if you want, like, you know, we could, maybe we could be athletic. Like we could do something together. Like, you know, he's like, oh, like, I think I've already got something lined up. Thanks, it was very nice to be like, and then it becomes a big thing. Like, I probably would have done the same thing with Kelsey if he had made the same announcement and have been just as shortsighted. - Yeah, he figured it out pretty well. So I couldn't-- - Did not need my help. - Nope, but perhaps all those questions that he had from you prepare him mentally for this. - Perhaps not as well. - Okay, well, speaking of Zach's encyclopedic memory of Nick Sirianni's history, we do have a super chat asking him about his Chargers days. Zach, where do we got it? Chase, Daniel Planview wants to know, do you know why Nick was moved from quarterbacks coach to wide receivers coach with the Chargers? Was he able to talk one-on-one with Phil Rivers or was that relationship strange? - No, it was not about Phil Rivers. Him and Phil had a good relationship actually. So there are a few things there. There are some changes in the coaching staff. But Shane Steichen was this real promising offensive quality control coach, I believe they had at the time. Or maybe he was coming to the Chargers. But anyway, Shane Steichen, they wanted Shane Steichen to work with the quarterbacks at the time. I think I believe that's what it was. Nick's area of expertise was wide receivers. So he kind of got moved from quarterbacks to wide receivers. At that point, I don't think it was necessarily because of Nick, I think there were some changes in the coaching staff that were bringing in Shane Steichen at the time. I think that's what resulted in it. As a matter of fact, when you-- - But he does love Phil Rivers, like-- - Oh, yeah, big time. When Eagles hired Nick, I called up Kellen Clemens, who was the Chargers back a quarterback at the time. And he spoke a lot about their quarterback room and their relationship that they had. - Zack Alec, Super Chat also wants to know if we can get a Zack Travel Log video for your trip to Brazil. - Yeah, I appreciate this, Alec. I am, I was actually writing down some ideas last night of how I can do some things to get you to show fans Brazil. I'm going to do that. - No, no, no, no. People want you in Brazil. Nobody wants to see the sights. I want to see random stuff. I want to see you walking to get a meal. I want to see you-- - So this was your tea. - So this was your tea. - The winner, the better. That's what's going to bring those Super Chats in. - I know, Zack, that you are nervous to expand beyond the bounds of like the media hotel and that's what you're afraid of. - No, I love traveling. - No, I love traveling. I love traveling. The thing is, from my understanding, traffic's really bad in Sao Paulo, there's not going to be a lot of, so Thursday, I'm going to Eagles practice, and it's like, it's going to be like two hours, two and a half hours, I get to this day. So I'm going to shuttle bus at the stadium a lot of the day. So I told Anthony this morning, I'm going to go, instead of doing the hits from my hotel room, I'm going to go outside. I've done a lot of research on Sao Paulo, I'm excited to explore, to see, as much as I can during the timeframe there, although in terms of the travel up, the one like, literally the one thing that every website I've gone to has said is, don't hold your phone out. Okay, I don't know if this is something that I should take the hard pose, bro. You were just in Brazil, but it's like, you know, it's like blending, don't be holding up your phone, because that's like the easiest thing to get pickpocketed in theory. - I want you, in the hotel room, doing styling your hair and getting an eagle's take. That will be the most viewed thing you do. - This isn't a joke, I do want to embrace right now. That's the type of thing you should be doing. - I do want to do some more stuff on the road to try to, you know, I don't want to say personality driven, but to kind of take people behind the scenes. But I certainly don't think they need to see me styling my hair. - I would like to, my fellow balds would probably like to live vicariously for you. - I think it's a great idea. - Yeah, okay. - All right, let's talk Saquon Barkley. Expectations for Saquon Barkley this season. The question posed here is, does Saquon Barkley have more yards from scrimmage this season than any eagles running back since LaShawn McCoy? Now the mark there is Miles Sanders in 2022, 1347, that is a mark that Saquon has beat in three of his six seasons. Do you think he's going to do it with a better eagles supporting cast? - What was it, 1357? - 1347. - 1347 from scrimmage. - So the over under is 1,000.5 rushing yards for Saquon Barkley this season. I expect him to be in that 300 range for receiving yards. And so if you add those two together, I mean, there is real big time upside where he's like, got this in the bag. I'm feeling good today. I will take the over, so I'm basically saying, yards from scrimmage over 1347. - Yes, yes. - I will take the over. Have you written down what I've used so far? - Six and eight. - Six and eight, boy. I'm coming and confident today. See you next to you guys. I'll give this one. I feel pretty good about it. Give it a five. - Okay. - Not great, feel good. - I also have a five here and I'm going no. And I'm just getting against health or-- - Health or-- - Running backs, yes. - And I was thinking about this. How do we all feel about the cowboy signing Dalvin Cook? Right? - Ooh, no, not Dalvin Cook or like, you know, he's already washed. Dalvin Cook came into the league one year before Saquan Park League. And everybody already thinks that he's washed. So like this emergency signing for their terrible backfield, that's by service time, Saquan next season. That when the Eagles are paying him $12 million or whatever it is, right? And Dalvin Cook had a more productive first six years of his career than Saquan did. So like, I mean, I like what I've seen from Saquan. I think the passing game value is real, but I think you and I sort of agree about this show that we're a little bit skeptical that it will end up being super voluminous. I think if Saquan stays healthy, I think he tops this mark pretty easily. But I'm just betting against, it's not fun to do it, but the idea that he's going to stay healthy for 17 games, it's just, it's not a great track record. - Well, I think that the point, yes, about a running back going into their seventh season, you're not getting the best of them. And there is for us, that's valid. I mean, Dalvin Cook says, "Suck the last two years." Saquan Barkley has not sucked. The market spoke on each of these players. One guy gets paid $12 million. The other guy's a bill for a long ago. - And that's that one in Saquan last year. I don't know two years ago. - Yeah, it's too confusing. All right, we got a guess for Zach. - Zach's going over. He's going like, this is not his nine or 10. - Zach's going over. What is Zach you so far? - He's used seven and two. - Eight, Zach over eight. First off. - Let's get the reveal. Let's get the visual reveal. - Oh! - Yeah. - Yes and nine over nine. - Yeah, so I'm not gonna like have confidence that someone's gonna get injured, okay? - Sure. - And barring injury, I think this is a clear yes. I think that the Eagles are going to use Saquan quite a bit. I don't think they're paying him $13 million to be a role player. I think they're paying him $13 million a year to be a featured back. The volume is going to be present. I think that, you know, I don't think the change in offensive line necessarily is like the big difference here. But I just think that there's gonna be less of a focus from defenses on him. When you're facing that Giants offense in past years, it was all about stopping Saquan. It's not gonna be all about stopping Saquan this year. I think he is gonna have a role in the passing game. Now it's gonna be incumbent upon Jalen to incorporate him. But, you know, I think it's probably gonna be made clear that you have Saquan Barkley. So $13.47 is certainly achievable. And I feel confident in this one. So I'm going yes. - All right, let's get through one more before the next ad read. This is a one versus two in receiving yards. AJ Brown, who has more receiving yards? AJ Brown or the combination of Devontae Smith and Will Shipley. Now two years ago, AJ Brown had 300 more receiving yards than Devontae Smith. Last year it was 390 more yards than Devontae Smith. But maybe Devontae is closing that gap a little bit. Ken Will Shipley helped make it up. What do you think, Zack? I mean, the shield. - I don't think Will Shipley's gonna factor much into my, I'll do it. I like what I saw from him in the preseason, but I don't think he's gonna factor too much. If I'm predicting Saquan Barkley to have 300 receiving yards then Will Shipley is going to be below that. I don't think it's crazy to take a Devontae Smith over AJ Brown this year type of type. I mean, it's not the more likely one, but AJ Brown misses a couple of games. Devontae Smith. - It's injury dependent though. - No, I mean a little bit. I think there's a chance. - I cannot imagine they play the same amount of games. - It's not likely. - And Devontae has more resources. - Okay. - Yes, I'm gonna take AJ Brown over Devontae Smith and Will Shipley there. And I will give it, give me my, sorry, give me my numbers again. - 685 is what you've used. - 685, is this a seven, nine or 10? I mean, AJ Brown's a beast. AJ Brown, let's give it the seven. I'll give it the seven. - I'm given this AJ Brown and this is my 10. - Yeah, I should have probably gone higher. Okay. - What do we think about that? - No, he creates the questions. - Is that any sort of, I don't know. Is that okay? - No, I'm gonna feel it. - I know it's a contest. Yeah, I'm six years into this now. I just kinda understand. It's like you pick your battles, right? - It is difficult if you haven't looked at the questions of the show. I can confirm I did that. I'm gonna guess that Zack, I think he actually is going AJ Brown here and I think it's gonna be, I'm gonna say it's six. - Six, I don't know. He loves AJ. - I really like the visual here like getting to see Zack's poker face. - He has eight and 10 left, right? - He does. - I'm gonna make this an eight for Z-bay. - All right, what do we got? - Four, four, AJ Brown. - Well, I want it. - AJ four? - Whoa, fading, AJ Brown. - Interesting take. - I'm not fading, AJ Brown, here it is. I mean, you'll see the other six questions and you'll see where I put my money, right? Plus, I mean, you said-- - Down on AJ. - You talk about a little shit, please, camp. What about his sophomore year of film, a Clemson? No, I'm pressed for you by that. - That's the way out. - How about his junior year film? - Well, I mean, do we want to have that Kate Club Nick conversation where we're already on? - I definitely do not. - We're already on a two hour pace here for the show. Although, I'm feeling a little Clemson bug this year in the ACC, I gotta tell you that. I do a thing with my friends where you draft teams and there's a scoring system. - You just talk with a doctor. - And Clemson's one of the teams that I drafted. - Okay, well, get ready for the season ahead, Zack. - Wear your best Dabo Sweeney shades by getting ready for the season ahead with quality shades built to last. Is that what it's called? - Kaprina. - A kaprina. - Kaprina. - But what I also know is that when you're hanging out with your friends, the drink you wanna have is a nice cold meal or light, right? Because a lot's changed over the years. One thing that hasn't is the great taste of meal or light. Another thing that's not changed is that it's less filling. So what is the best thing about the original light? Beer meal or light sparked this debate in 1975 and they still haven't settled it. That's because it's a great taste and it's less filling. But you don't have to choose because more light keeps it simple. They have an undebatable quality, great taste, only 96 calories. It's the beer that strips away everything you don't need and holds on to what matters. Most a light beer that tastes like beer, less filling and only 96 calories. Molar Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 96 calories per 12 ounces, fewer cows and carbs than premium regular beer. - All right, we've got six more questions but she only have some breaking eagles news I need your take on. The eagles, according to Adam Kaplan, have signed Jack Stole to the practice squad. - Okay, we already went over this. Just seeing what you're thoughts on. - Yeah, Chris Smart, Jalen Trusson. - No brainer. - Oh, Jack Stole, I was thinking Jack Truss. (laughing) - I was wondering what the hard sell there was. - Jack Stole, fine. - I mean, they're very thin. - They're very thin at like, you know, wide receiver and tight end and offensive line. So yeah, this would be a bad year for me. I know Jack Stole doesn't move the needle but probably their second best, why practice squad, isn't he their second best tight end? - I don't think so. - Grant Calcatera. - Grant Calcatera has like three catches in two years. What everyone thinks. - Yeah, how many things Stole has. - But they played Stole over empty time. - Yeah, and I think that was a mistake. - Okay. - Well, again, it's different types of players. Stole is a blocking tight end. - I understand. - That's your station. - I understand. - But then this man's playing, I'm back. - Thank you. - Weeks, tight end, splitting to you. - You guys, that offense or defense? - Not everyone. - Conversation is mansplating. It's simply, it's providing, it's so. - I understand Calcatera is not even a problem. - Well, actually, there are different types of tight ends. - Well, yeah, so you're talking about why Jack Stole's playing over Grant Calcatera. It's because of the value he provides in the running game. - No, no. It's because of their perceived value of what he provides on the running game. - Sure. It's kind of like, shield being sick, right? Yes, I get it. - All right, will the Eagles finish in the top five in offensive DBOA? Big picture question. Last year, they were 10th in 2022. They were third in 2021, they were 11th. Season hinges on this. - Yeah, I had them at 8th in my rankings on TheRinger.com, which everyone can read, but obviously there's variants there. I see the ceiling. I see the path to top five for sure. I don't, you know what? I'm gonna give this a low. I'm gonna say yes to appease the crowd, but this is gonna be my number two, which I think I have available. - Our numbers are simpatica. I'm a two here as well, but I'm going no. I'll be the negative Nelson. Yeah, I just, top five is, it's a tough bar to reach. I think if they're, if they are top five, I think they should be getting a buy in the NFC. They should be winning the division and a top two team in the NFC. And if not, then they're fighting for the division nor worse. - Only one team gets a buy though. - Yeah, that's true. - This guy's full of foot forward for me. - Sorry, I don't mean the man's playing. - No, now what we actually needed. - Neither of us were shy. - I think that was tough. - You read the room right there. - Yeah, I was like, yeah, buy. - And then you said that, I'm like, oh, that is true. - It's true. - 'Cause I was like, they can have a top five offense. - It also comes into play in later than that. - Yeah, but I was, 'cause it's got my words. It's like, they can have a top five offense, but Sanfords just go and, yeah. - Yeah, that's right. - I'll tell you what you have to say. - Yeah, how about that? - Yeah. - All right, I'm gonna say that Zach, I mean, I'm gonna say Zach is similar to you on this one. Sheila, I think he goes yes, but it's a two. - Oh, Zach, top five, yes. What does he have left? - Actually, just look at you. - One, three, five. - One, three, eight, 10. - You just say he's gonna be a two though. - Yeah, one, oh yeah, he has already used two. So yeah, I'm gonna say this is his three. - I'm gonna say this is one, but he says yes. - All right, what do we got? - Yeah, 10, 10, whoa, after you're killing Agent Brown. - He came from, yeah. I was just-- - He says the one, and you read the questions before. - Yeah, this is the one you're most confident in. - Yeah, that they're gonna have a top five offense. I think they're gonna have a top five offense. - Okay. - What were they two years ago? - Third two, you just-- - Oh yeah. (laughing) - Yeah, I mean, I think they had more talent than they had two years ago. - I think-- - 10. - Yeah, yeah, I think they're a good offense. I think this is a really good offense. - We know good, but top five is top five. I think that's-- - I think that's three. - That's happened twice since when, under Doug Peterson and Nick Siriana in this year, so it's rare to have top five. - Yeah, yeah, I hear you there. I mean, if you're ranking, well, I know you did this on the ringer. Where did you have the Eagles rank among offenses in the league? (laughing) - Hey, you said it about three minutes. - Exactly. That's what I'm saying. (laughing) - No, he was actually asking me, right? - No, it wasn't listening before when I just said it. - I was actually trying to find the Eagles practice, but I don't know. (laughing) - I'm trying to play it out. - I am reporting on the team right now. (laughing) - You're on the show, you're on the show. - Wow. - Oh my gosh. - Ah, yeah. I think they're going to have a top five offense. - I was looking at the Eagles practice class. - I think they're going to have a top five offense. - Okay. - They have the six easiest schedule in the league. - All right, we've still got five more to get in there. - You got to say Jack Reuer, BJ. You can just deal with a chat first and set it, pass it on as your own. Come on, a little attribution. - Thank you, Jack Reuer. They have the six easiest schedule in the league. - Okay. All right, let's talk defense. Jalen Carter. Does Jalen Carter-- - Wait till the day does take a strength to schedule and took out. (laughing) - They said Jack Reuer. (laughing) - We're excited to have Jack Reuer on the show tomorrow. Joining Fran and me for the annual Spread Your Wings and Fly Draft. - Jalen Carter, does Jalen Carter make the initial NFC Pro Bowl roster? Last year, the three guys who made it, this is a three person deal. Aaron Donald, who's gone. Dexter Lawrence and Javan Hargrave. Does Jalen Carter, will he have the big breakout season and be a Pro Bowler right away? - Yes, 10. - I'm yes, nine. So we are Sympatico. I think what I have seen from Jalen Carter this summer, as long as he doesn't get hurt, I will be pretty shocked if he does not hit this. I think he could be a beast. - I think he's gonna be a beast if this was all a pro I would have considered. I really think he's gonna be one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL. You mentioned it, Aaron Donald's gone. I mean, who would you rather have Javan Hargrave or Jalen Carter this year? - I don't know. - I think I'd rather the arrows pointing up on Jalen Carter. So yeah, I feel good that I saved my 10. Wait, as soon as you read that out, I'm like, this is the one. - Oh, I think Zach's going, okay. - I think Zach's going, yes, eight. - Zach is, well, Jack Royer, what is Zach gonna do? (laughing) I will go. I'm not, I'm just gonna go Zach eight 'cause I don't wanna ask you again what he has. - No one! - Wow. - Yeah, okay. - One, if you're saying no, I get, you know, that's. - Yeah, so based on my history covering this, players don't often get recognized for the Pro Bowl the year they bust out. - This is another football spline we got going on. - Yeah, Fletcher Cox, you know, the first year he made the Pro Bowl? - No. - 2015, okay? He had a great year in 2014. He had a great year in 2013. Or he had a real good year in 2013, great year in 2014, made the Pro Bowl, you know, it took him a year. Jason Kelsey, the 2014 season, was when he made the Pro Bowl. He would tell you he was better than the year before. It's sometimes, you know, you have that end. This is what Kelsey said to me. This is what Fletcher Cox has said to me. Like, you have that year where you get on the radar and then you're recognized the next year. So you have guys in the NFC like Dexter Lawrence. You have guys in the NFC like Derek Brown who-- - Your boy. - I mean, the money talks, right? So I think that it's not just a given that he's gonna be a Pro Bowl because he's gonna-- - That is true. But I think this is a player who was already in the National Zeitgeist. People are expecting things from. Like he was considered the best player in the draft for different reasons. I think also like just the media surrounding the Eagles is enough that if he's having this kind of season, it'll be talked about enough that he gets there. Two defensive tackles as rookies in the last 10 years had more sacks than Jalen Carter had last year. So yeah, I agree, he's already on the radar. - All right, next up we have a little trios match for who's gonna have more sacks. Which of these Troika's ends up with more sacks? Nolan Smith who had one last year, Josh Sweatt who had six and a half, and Jordan Davis who had two and a half, that's a total of 10, or the trio of Brandon Graham who had three last year, Bryce Huff who had 10 and Milton Williams who had a half for a 13 and a half total. Nolan Smith, Josh Sweatt, and Jordan Davis versus Brandon Graham, Bryce Huff and Milton Williams who you got shield. - What size font are you using? Can't even read it. What numbers do I have left? And I got a good vision till-- - I got a good vision till-- - One, three, four, and nine. - Okay, I'm gonna make this my nine and go with the Huff Graham, Milton Williams trio. - Disappointing that you and I are closely aligned here. I'm going with the same trio as an eight. I think that Bryce Huff people might be pleasantly surprised by what Bryce Huff does this season. I think I've liked the arc of his summer and just him getting more snaps. I think there's a chance that he is very productive. Do we think that Zach's going sweaty? - Annie's Jordan Davis guy. - Yup, hates Milton Williams. - So I think he's going with that. Yes, Annie famously predicted the Nolan Smith pick. So I think that's easy. - I'm going sweaty and I think this is like a three. - This is a lot of three and five. - Three and five. - Three and five. Yeah, three sounds, right? Three and that crooping. - Wow, and an eight. He goes with the others and goes with an eight. - Every time it's a chance to put his money where his mouth is. - Wow, great. - Four surprises. - Yeah, I mean, I think Milton Williams is better aligned to have Zach's than Jordan Davis. Okay, I think that I like Joshua a lot, but Joshua's really carrying the work here and we need to see it from Nolan Smith. Branding Graham, he'll be used in third down situations and he's been able to get to the quarterback and later on in his career. So I like that trio more than the other trio in terms of getting Zach's. Now in terms of having impact on the game, that's a different question. - Okay, Olivia Reiner with a report according to the chat. Tyreeon Davis Price is at practice, so therefore it must be on the practice spot. There you go. - I would call out the, you know, get there, they're taking their time. - Well, I saw a couple of times. - Mike Why when also Scott G. - Okay, yeah. - Good job by them. - We appreciate the same. - Yeah, nice job. - Okay, Quinyon Mitchell is Quinyon Mitchell by the end of the season, the Eagles best cornerback. And this is up to the sole discretion of Fran Duffy. - By season's end. - By season's end is Quinyon Mitchell, the Eagles best corner. - So when will you be asking him this question? - At the end of the season. - Regular season or season. - Whenever the season ends. - When their last game is played. - Yes. - And they hoist the Lombardi and Fran's trying to work. - Fran! - Yeah. - Who's there? - That's how we'll open the post game show. - You can't probably show it, yeah. - Congratulations to the Eagles for the year. - Yeah. - You have a beautiful Fran. I am going to you first. Is Quinyon the Eagles best corner? - I'll go yes on this. What do I got? - Let's see, you have one, three, and nine. - Really? I haven't used nine yet? You sure you didn't screw that up? - No, one, three and four. - Unbelievable. - This isn't gonna be somebody back check him. - You just used nine. - I'll go one on this. Yeah, I don't feel strongly about it, but he's got a chance. So I have high expectations for Quinyon Mitchell, but then I check myself because it's a rookie corner back and typically those guys don't come in and they're not the best corner back on their team. - Yeah, I think if you would ask me this before training camp started, I would have said definitely not. Those are way too high expectations for a rookie corner. Maybe I am fooled by what I've seen so far, but my answer here is yes. And I just, I love what I've seen from him so far. There's also, you know, slay is 33. Those other guys haven't proven necessarily that they belong as a consideration for the best starter. So I have, I had yes and I have four. - By the way, in the chat, a couple people to your point are saying that, oh, Brandon Smith on the practice squad too, according to E.J. Smith. - Yeah, nice. - According to Bow Wolf, Brandon Smith. - That's right. - On the practice squad. How about the, how about the kickoff? Brandon Smith said, Jacob Harris, the poor guy, gets a concussion. I thought the whole point of the kickoff was to make it safer. The guy breaks his face and gets a concussion and it breaks his face all over. - Because people thought we needed to be more entertained by the kickoff. - I mean, give me a break. Just kick it in the end, touch back. - I agree. - It's okay. - All right. - Feel for Jacob Harris. - Absolutely. - I'm having a hard time right now. - Why? - I'm seeing all these reports. No, no, no. - I thought it hit to go. I was going to take a break and come back. - This is what's eating you up is that you don't get to be out of practice and be the first one to tweet that so-and-so is here. - This is kind of, this is like, it's like when I was in high school and like I get to school on Monday and I found out Joey was at a party on Saturday and it's like, I mean, I was watching like the Sixers bucks game, you know. But my God, I mean, this is the place to be. - That's right. They're reporting everything in here. - I'm reporting everything and I'm here getting my, my butt handed me about the, the pics that I have here. I'm just saying, I, I don't know what like, I tell my wife, like, you know, she featured, like she experiences FOMO. I'm not a big FOMO guy, but now I know what she feels like. - What do you mean? - It's literally what's happening right now. - Yeah, but I feel like this is happy. This happens all the time with you FOMO. - Well, I'm saying like, I don't like say like, oh, I wish I could go to this. - You almost, you know, Ben. - Ben, Sumer, you know, and sister priorities more. - Yeah, that's, that's FOMO guy. - About work, yes, about work, yeah, for sure. But yeah, I'm feeling it right now. - I mean, listen, I'm, if I was at practice, I'd be doing the same thing. And I'd be, I'd be like, excited to be the first one to spot, you know, Andre, Sam, or whatever it was, but these are eventualities, like. - Oh, so they're out watching practice. - Yeah. - That's how they're telling. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - They're just saying who they-- - They're practice going on right now. - Okay. - And I'm here. - Yeah. - Well, do you want to leave? - No, no, I mean, I can't get there, I can't get there. - You come, become a die card so you can help support the man who has this unhealthy obsession with this job, which is good, but I mean, you know. - This is my job today. - This is your job. - Yes. - I think that Zach is going, no for Quignon, and it's a three. - Sure. - Yeah. - This is kind of a lobster for me. - Yeah, I think so. - Yeah, this is at the whole discretion of Fran. So I'm thinking Fran's gonna say yes. - Wow, you're saying he's not gonna be objective. - I'm not saying he's not gonna be objective. I'm saying I think I know Fran's taste, and I think Fran's gonna say yes. I think Fran might go with that more than, because I think Quignon Mitchell's gonna have more of like the film grinder appreciation season. It might be like, you know, sleigh has a big play here or there, right? But you say, well, what's really happening here is if you're watching the film, Quignon Mitchell is locking down this guy. So they're actually throwing the sleigh side more than they would in past year. So I think from Fran's perspective, this will be a Quignon. - Do we need to read a super chat? That's not very nice. - No, fix your posture. - Maybe fix your posture. - Yeah, he's right. I should. - This is fun. - This is important. Posture is really important. - I'm very uncomfortable just sitting. I never sit like this. - Yeah, you're a standard. You're standing against me. - The only time I sit is if I'm like watching a, watching TV or something. - Not having to feed up. And so, I mean, this is, you like this? - Yeah. - No, I would, my brother. - Better than standing. - Next time, raise it up. I wanna stand in between you to the chance. - Yeah, we have a, there's a story coming out next, next week on allphoi.com. Chris, our outstanding head of social media here. And he does more than that. He's a videographer. And he went out with me for this story. And he kind of interviewed, he videotaped me, interviewing some of the people that I was interviewing. - Oh, that's exciting. - And, you know, I didn't, he's the artistic genius. Not me. Like, I didn't know how he was gonna put this together. So I didn't know when we were doing it that I was gonna be in the frame, right? And so I saw kind of the preview. And the only thing I was thinking about was my posture, right? The only thing, and I, as like Nick's pointed out to me before, you know, I'm a big, like notter when they talk, right, because I think it's important nonverbal communication, but it doesn't look as good. I think when you're doing the interview, because there's a lot, you know, the person stuck and I'm like, I'm nodding, and I, because, and I say posture, because I always thought a good nonverbal thing is to lean in, because it shows, it shows that you're interested. - That's all I feel like we're all hanging out here together. - It shows that you're interested, but I think from a video, visual perspective, straight chest up, that's better, right? So, I gotta say, there's like a four and a half minute video, and I have like pages of notes already from that video. So, yeah. - By the way, Zach, speaking of your interactions with Nick, what was it yesterday? You had a great joke. What was it? - Well, how he was pointing out that he wishes it was like a deli line, where we take numbers instead of cocking over people, the old Pete Carroll thing, where you scream your question. He says it's a real competitive atmosphere, and he feels bad for the person who doesn't get the question. And I said it's one of the core values, competition. - That's right. - Nick appreciates a core value. - That was definitely very good. - You were very quick on the trigger of this one. - Yes. - Okay, the Eagles have announced 14 members of their 17-player practice squad. Orrin Burks, the veteran is back. Paris Campbell, the veteran is back. Tyrian Davis Price, Nick Gates, we talked about, Will Greer, Zach, do you need to leave? Are you, are you steamed? - No, I'd like Will. Big on Vine. (laughing) - That's his brother. Remember? - Yes. - I want to make joy of laughs, yeah. - You did. E.J. Jenkins, Dylan McMahon, Marcus Rosamy-Jackson. I believe that is the only player on this practice squad who is not with the Eagles. - Tall guy. - From Georgia, right? - wide receiver, Andre Sam, Brandon Smith, ya boy, Caden Stearns, Jack Stoll. So two guys, and then Lacon Vakalahi. So three more spots for the Eagles to fill. I mean, Will Greer, that's kind of funny, but good for him. - Yeah, do you want to rip them? - I mean, how is it all the people that they had? They think those are all the best options for the practice. They could assign players from other teams to their practice squad, correct? - I agree, that's how they got Thomas Booker. - I mean, that feels weird to me. Will they have nine more spots? - I feel like this mix. - I mean, I don't love it. - I mean, you saw all these players all summer and none of them were good enough to make your team and you think all of them are good enough to work with that you can-- - Well, some of them are there for game day for notification. I think it's actually interesting that Brett Toth is not there. - Okay, that's a good point. - Given the expectation there, I think maybe Toth is a little bit ticked off. - I mean, isn't Parrish Campbell as now? - He feels a little misled, I think, Toth. - Okay. - I'm just projecting, like why, you build me up as the second team, Swiss Army knife, you have me talking to the media and then I don't make the team and you think I'm just gonna come back with my tail between my legs and be on the practice squad? I'm a man, I can find somewhere else. - Did he? - We'll see. - Okay. - Also, the three spots left could be because the guys aren't in town yet, right? - Right. - It could be players from other teams. - Go through physicals. - Yeah, these are guys who were in fit, you know, I can't speak, I don't know where Marcus was. Marcus rose in me. Jackson. - Right, you need guys to actually practice. - But, but Jack stole was just up the turnpike. He can get down here and he was also released here earlier. - And for the reasons, we talked about the L7 earlier games. - Exactly. - And you need guys to practice with. - Okay, we got two more questions. Big picture on the defense. Will the Eagles finish top 12 in defensive. DBOA last year, 29th, third the year before, 23rd the year before that. - I had him at 14th and my rankings on TheRinger.com. They really are a tough one. It's sort of a weird, like I was just going through their Ed Drushers yesterday. It's like, what is this group? So it's a very strange group, even the depth, the defensive tackle. I'm kind of bullish on the corners. I'm gonna say a no here. I just think they're a mediocre group. And if you're giving me the odds, more likely or less likely, I'm gonna say no. What do I got left for me? - Three and four. - Three and four. Okay, well, give this a four. - I'm going no seven, which is probably a little bit higher than I would like because I do think that this is pretty within the realm of possibility, especially if Jalen Carter has the season I expect. And if Bryce Huff is as good as I expect. But, you know, I think the linebackers are better than they were a year ago, but still not very good. I think the secondary is gonna take some time and I just, you know, they finished 29th last year. That's still a big way to come up. I think Zach is going yes. And he has six and three left. So I'm gonna say that this is his three. - Six, yes, six. - No three. - We had a tear right away, like early on. - We only had him pegged and now he's a little unpredictable, Zach. - I don't know, that's unpredictable over here. - I'm just giving what I believe to be the case, right? I mean, I was swayed, we've discussed on the show how I'm very impressionable. I thought Bo made the point when they hired Vic Fanjio that I have recited and credited. I just wanna make that clear. That they are hiring Vic Fanjio for the floor more than the ceiling, right? And so basically it's like just don't have a bottom 10 defense. And I don't think they're gonna have a bottom 10 defense, but I think it's ambitious to expect them to have a top 10 defense. I don't love the, I'm still trying to figure out their defensive, I don't love their defensive front relative to some past years. So I think I'd feel, I think they're gonna be in the teens, maybe if things break well and they have a soft schedule, they play bad quarterbacks, you can kind of push a little higher, but I think probably like 13, 14, 15, 16 is more realistic. - Okay, last little bit of update from the chat. Mike Whye telling us that Jahan Dodson is wearing 87 and Quinyan Mitchell has taken Zach McPherson's 27. He has a new number. There you go. Alex Malcolm Jenkins. - Yeah. - Naya and Lila in the chat. - Really? Naya and Lila in the chat, all right. - Good to see you. - Lila loves the Miller Lite commercial with it is both. She could, we could do some, you get me some shady raise and maybe she yells that it is both. - Okay. - I'll get you some shady grace, but there's a great promo code for it. - There's a promo code for it. - I mean, this guy just bragging that he's got three pairs and doesn't offer me a bottle of water. - I told it before. There's a, there's a great dealer cheater. - I know I did. - In order, or if you cross a certain threshold, then you have the opportunity to buy like a mystery pair for a very cheap price. - I like the idea of a mystery pair, but you know, kind of have an odd shaped face. I don't know the likelihood of that. - Yeah, I figured this is going to be my sick in the glove compartment if I forgot to put sunglasses on for the car and need to break glass in case of emergency. - Got these mystery aviators now. - Yeah, not a big mystery pair guy. I mean, there was a sponsor one time that like, a month of their site to support them. It was like a boxers thing and you know, the boxer briefs, right? And I'm fascinated to see where this goes. - And you know, and they have the heavily discounted thing is, you know, mystery is like surprise here, mystery, right? And so I'm like, all right, why wanna be happy? You need to save $20 a year, right? And so I get it. I think I'm getting this great deal. And the mystery one is like flamingos or something like that. I'm like, I'm not wearing this, you know. - Hold on a second. What's so bad about that? - I mean, I'm like a solid color boxer brief guy. Like give me, yeah. - Yeah, but they're like boxers. They're not, they're not public showing. - Well, I'm walking around with like pink flamingo boxer briefs. I mean, come on, that's-- - Oh God forbid Mr. Machismo is wearing some pink flamingo boxer briefs. - I mean, I'm sorry, it's just, if I'm gonna spend money on boxer briefs, it's not gonna be that. - I thought that this was gonna be like, it was a different style than it did. - But anyway, yeah, or it's gonna be like that. - No, no, no, you know, you know the style you're getting. - I cannot believe this turned back into Mr. Masculinity. - It's not Mr. Masculinity, it's the product that you're getting. You know, it's like, if you pay money, you want it to be a product you wanna wear. - Listen. - Oh, oh, I didn't wear no flamingos over here. Oh! (laughing) - Is that how it sounds? - This is for Miss Tony Sopranos. - Wow. - Wow, I think it's fair to not go mystery pair for draws. - Yeah, I think that is a much different scenario. - Yeah, all right. - Okay, last one, does one of these two things happen? So this is an either or, this is, is it going to be one of these high variance tail seasons, or is it gonna be something in the middle? Do the eagles either get a first round buy, and I did think that there were two first round buys in my head when I posed this question, or Nick Sirioni is fired. So we're saying one of those two things happen, or it's something in the middle where they don't get a buy and Nick Sirioni survives. - Well, I didn't predict either of those two things to happen but for the purpose of this exercise, I'm gonna go ahead and say yes, that one of those two things happens, and whatever my remaining number is. - What is the threshold? - I know there's a lot of variables. If you had to say, this is the threshold for Nick Sirioni to keep his job, he's got to, if you think it's an amount of wins, if you think it's a division thing, a playoff thing, again, we know there's a lot of variables, but if you just have to answer that question, what would it be? - It's a playoff game. - Win a playoff game and the job's safe, you think. - Unless it's-- - Unless there's weird, but I'll go ahead. - I think there's also, I think if they win the division, they're the two or the three seed, and they lose in the upset, I think he probably still survives. - Really? - Yes. I think if they win 12 games and they lose as the two, I think the larger picture will still be. - I mean, if you're like the two or three seed and you host a playoff game and you lose to the Rams or the Packers, yeah, I think there's a new coach here. - Well, the Packers are one of the Super Bowl, so. - I was just thinking-- - I think that-- - Based on Super Bowl odds, 49ers in the line. - I think he probably survives that. But it's, I think it's either win the division or win a playoff game, that would be my expectation for the baseline. - Okay. - What about you? - Just winning, if you win the division, but it's not that, I mean, how many wins is gonna, are you gonna need to win the division? - 11. - So if you go 11 and six and lose in the first round of the playoffs, I don't know that that's gonna be enough. It depends, again, it's a hard question to answer. I'm the one who posed it, but I think if you win like 12 or more games, if you are a, you know, you just look like a juggernaut all season long and you have something weird happen in the playoffs, I think you can keep it then. I think if you don't have a great regular season but you go on a run and you get to the then, you can keep it then, but yeah, it's probably one of those things. - Okay, yeah, I'm with you too, and now this is my one, so I don't feel confident here because I'm like you, Sheila, and then I could see the season going so many different ways. I don't feel great about it, and that is different than most years. I think the Dylan McMahon decision really points me towards the negative direction. - He's back on the team, correct? - Yeah. - Dylan McMahon, so maybe they knew what they were doing. - So I'm saying yes, one, we move on. So Zach has, I believe the, what does he have left? - Julia, six, six, and I'm gonna say that he says no. - I like that. - No, six. - Yeah, I don't think they're gonna have a first round pie. I think that's gonna be the Niners or the Lions. And right now I don't think Nick's gonna be fired. I think they're gonna be a good team. I think they're gonna win a playoff game. And then I think they'll lose to the Niners or the Lions. - Okay, so this is like the worst for content, right? Just to sort of, they're good, not great. - Get to first or second round. - I'm not, I don't want to have a loser job, right? - Right, but just for content, though. - I mean, coaching search is always interesting content, but I'm not. - I don't think the Berman family needs a coaching search that'd be happening in. - Look, I do my job, no matter the duty, I mean, trust me. I'm getting a lot of crap at home for the first week in school, so. - I think one of the most, one of the funniest things I've ever heard is you saying you're not a FOMO guy. - I was talking about social interactions. - I was talking about social interactions. - You're not, you're just not a big social interactions guy. - Yeah, I'm not like, I've never seen anyone more crippled by the possibility of FOMO. - Yeah. - Okay, I'm not like, I don't go on it. - I don't go on Instagram and I'm like, "Oh, I wish I could be there." - Sure. - Or like, "I wish I could have that." Like, no, I'm like, unless that person's covering something or I'm a big FOMO guy with something they write, you know, if, you know, if Wayne-- - But you're not, you're not covetous. It's, no, I feel good for people. Like, I'll give you an example. - I totally agree with that. - Yeah, Shiel wrote, I remember if you wrote a great piece, well, he's wrote a number of great pieces, but in particular, Jeffery Lori's 25th year with the Eagles, he went up to Jeffery Lori's graduation speech and had, and I remember, man, I can't curse on the show. I was like, "Shoot." - Mr. Blue, all of a sudden. - I was like, "Shoot," you know. - Something in the works. - But then, I checked in to you right away and I, if you ask Tim, the other day, I text the Tim right away. Great story, you know? So yeah, I feel it's very unbecoming to, to like, poo-poo someone's work, you know? - Yeah, I totally agree with that. Yeah, I think you walked a walk there? No doubt about that. - But I also don't think that you are, you're not an envious person, but you are-- - Unless someone's at like Ben Fan Sumerin's football game. - Yeah. - Oh, yeah, Saturday and June. - Yeah, we had a-- - And you're stuck, Evan, we had a family vacation this year. - And he's stuck in some beautiful island with his family. - We had a family vacation this year in a correspondent with the Vontay Smith softball game and we're like sitting at the pool and Emily's like, "What are you doing?" - Yeah, I'm sorry. - And I'm like, I'm like, EJ Smith is on the field right now at the Vontay softball game.
