Shabbos 142

דף קמב לע״נ הענטשע בת שמואל שמשון אברהם בן משה הכהן עזריאל בן יעקב שמואל משה בן שמשון אברהם הכהן

  1. The Mishna said one can carry a basket with a stone inside. The case is that the stone is filling a gap of the basket and therefore a part of the kli. Otherwise one would be obligated to shake out the muktzeh rock instead of carrying it with the basket.

  2. There’s a law of bosis that a muktzeh item makes its holder muktzeh if it’s placed there intentionally. But if there also a non muktzeh item inside, the holder isn’t a bosis and the Halacha is jsut that the muktzeh item should preferably be shaken out. If there’s a good excuse why one doesn’t want to shake it out, the muktzeh item can be moved together with holder and non muktzeh item. An example would be when one needs the space where the items are, so shaking out the muktzeh item in the space doesn’t help.

  3. On Shabbos, it’s forbidden to tithe terumos/maasros bc it’s like “fixing.” However, r Yehuda allows one to separate מדומע on Shabbos. The case is that Terumah fell to 100 times of chulin. The Terumah is nullified 1:00, but the Halacha is that 1/100th should be given to a Kohen. R Yehuda allows one to tithe that 1/100 on Shabbos and it’s not called fixing. The rationale for this is that one could tithe מדומע without performing a physical tithing of the 1/100, as even jsut mentally thinking about a portion going to the Kohen suffices to permit the produce. The act of separating is therefore no fixing since it could’ve been permitted without the physical action of tithing.

  4. When a rock was mistakenly left on barrel wine, the barrel is not a bosis. When one wants wine on Shabbos, they should shake off the rock first. But if the rock may collide into something and make damage, one can carry the whole barrel with the rock and shake it out elsewhere. Really one could expect thst it’s permitted to remove the rock directly bc it’s part of the act of getting to the food and not forbidden under muktzeh rules, but we don’t prefer that bc it’s more work since anyways the battle will be lifted and tilted to remove the wine.

  5. There’s a dispute- Beis Shammai doesn’t allow borrer on Yom tov and beis Hillel doesz

  6. Of someone forgot to bring in their wallet and it’s muktzeh, some opinions allow a leniency or putting a non muktzeh item on top of it and moving Them together, but the Genara rejects it and there’s no heter to be lenient for muktzeh jsut bc it’s loss of money.
