  1. One can’t move a menorah that has dif sections bc if it falls one may be tempted to fix it and this is forbidden bc of מכה בפטיש. A large menorah with grooves may be mistaken for a sectioned menorah and is forbidden to move. A small grooved menorah is a dispute

  2. It’s very complicated for how we rule between r shimon and r Yehuda regrading a lamp that went out on Shabbos. The amoraim were very divided on the issue.

  3. R shimon does not subsribe to מוקצה מחמת מיאוס- so an old earthenware lamp is not muktzeh just because it is gross. But what about a naphta lamp which is so repulsive it would never be used as a kli at all? One opinion says r shimon concedes it is muketzeh even though it’s a kli. But a second opinion says it’s not muktzeh bc it cns be used to cover a pot or something else random like that. A kli is not muktzeh as long as it could theoretically be used for some random usage.

  4. Women cannot wear jewelry in the streets on Shabbos bc they may take it off. Even wearing jewelry in the courtyard is forbidden lest they forget and wear it in the street. However, the rings are not muktzeh bc of the same principle that a kli does not become muktzeh as long as it is suitable for some random usage.

  5. A Korban Bechor that gets a permanent blemish can be slaughtered and eaten. An expert must rule it is a real blemish. This shouldn’t be done on Yom tov, and if the expert wrongly did so, the animal remains muktzeh and is forbidden to slaughter even according to r shimon. This is different from leftover oil from a lamp that burned out bc there a person is anticipating that to occur but regarding the Korban bechor the owner is not anticipating that the expert will wrongly rule on Yom tov.

  6. A woman may have a vow annulled on Shabbos or someone may have a vow permitted by rabbi for the needs of Shabbos. Here too, there is anticipation for the heter and the items of the vow would not be muktzeh.

  7. When the lamp is lit, r shimon concedes it cannot be moved. The reason for this is because the flame is muktzeh and so the oil and lamp become a bosis for muktzeh.

  8. R shimon allows דבר שאינו מתכון even where the issue is biblical and he is therefore not worried for the lamp being extinguished while the owner moves it bc its not the intent. The only reason it’s assur to move when it’s lit is bc of bosis to muktzeh.
