“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.”
 - Titus 3:5 (KJV)

(upbeat music) Over a period of 80 years, more than 160,000 convicts were sent to Australia from Britain and Ireland. Prior to the Revolutionary War, more than 50,000 convicts had been sent to the colonies, what would become the United States. And once Australia became the new destination for convicts, many of whom had been convicted for trivial offences, convicts essentially built that new nation. As appalling as the system was, once the criminals had served their sentence, they were free, the new land promised them a new life. The good news of the gospel is that God offers you a new start, not one you have to work for. Writing to Titus Paul said, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us. If you need a new start, you can start again now through faith in Jesus.
