Bible Reading Plan

Day 2 – Read Matthew 3-4

John the Baptist announce the coming of the Messiah. He claimed the time was coming when the Holy Spirit would empower believers. John encouraged people to repent (turn from sin) and follow God. Jesus went to the Jordan river and insisted that John baptize Him. He did this to show humility toward the Father and to be the example of obedience toward the will of the Father. The Father was pleased. Jesus then prepared for ministry by fasting for forty days and nights. He was tempted by the devil, but He resisted and reminded the devil of the power and truth of God’s Word. Jesus preached a message of repentance. He called His first disciples (followers) and healed the sick.
