Welcome one and all I am Jeff and welcome to History and Fact Doy is about today, presented by Cool Media. Today's September the 19th. Hey! Today is National Talk Like A Pirate Day. No shush, people get into this. Now if it seems silly it is, it was created as a joke back in 1995. But I guess there's nothing wrong with being silly for a day, walking around talking like you think a pirate would talk. Now you can play pirates with your kids, you can watch Jack Sparrow movies, you know there are actually a lot of old pirate movies you can watch today. So who do you think the biggest badass pirate of all time was? Well that was actually a woman, she was from China, her name was Ching She. In the early 1800s she commanded a fleet of 1800 ships with over 40,000 pirates on it. Oh yeah, that's a badass. So have a fun silly day today and annoy the hell out of your coworkers trying to talk like a pirate. Alright, this is going on in entertainment on September the 19th, back in the year 2004. Number one album was Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGaugh, CRM, P.D Pablo, they had the number one song with goodies. The top selling book was Trace by Patricia Cornwall, top movie with Sky Captains in the World of Tomorrow. After New York City is attacked by giant flying robots, a reporter and a pilot team up to see where they came from, stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Angelina Jolie and Giavanna were busy. Alright, what happened on September the 19th, 1796, our first president, George Washington. No, in order to make sure that everybody knew he was not running for a third term as president and that he would never be president again, he gave his farewell space 10 weeks early, so no confusion at all, he was done. He really didn't give him that speech, he kind of had all the newspapers published it. The country really should have paid more attention to old George's farewell speech though. He warned against having political parties, he said they would split the nation, he warned against the federal government having a large debt, he warned about minority interest groups controlling the government and he believed that religion and morality were essential in order to have happiness and prosperity in the United States. So basically, yeah, the dude was dead on 1876 and Grand Rapids, Michigan and Melville Bissell, he invented the first carpet sweeper. 1893, New Zealand became the first country in world history to give all women the right to vote. Yep, they've included their indigenous men or women, yeah, they went all in. The next country to do was Finland in 1907, the United States got around to it in 1920. So who do you think the last country in the world was to give him and the right to vote? Saudi Arabia 2015. A couple of weeks ago, maybe 10 days ago, I was on a zoom call with some of our country artists from Australia that we play on country underground radio. They said that on this show, I rarely talk about Australia. In 1912, the wattle, it was declared Australia a symbol number of national flower. Yeah, and they put it on their coat of arms, still on there. 1941, Nazis, they ordered that all Jews, over six years old, that lived in the territories they had taken over and were now occupying, they had to start wearing a yellow star of David as a form of identification. The first underground nuclear explosion happened in 1957 in the United States, they detonated nuclear bomb outside of Los Angeles. Oh, where nothing made it above ground, yeah, there was no fallout or anything. So they say, 1991, I'd see the Iceman was found, yeah, it was that German couple was hiking in the Italian Alps. They found the frozen mummy after they dated it back 3300 B.C., now that is the oldest corpse ever found in Europe. In 1995, the Washington Post and the New York Times published the Unibombers Manifesto, 35 thousand words. In 2022, banks in Lebanon, they were all ordered to be closed for three days. Yeah, it was due to a large number of holdups of people trying to get to their own money. See, the government had frozen a lot of that money because of the Lebanese economic crisis. Go! Go! Go! Go!
