We're going to just continue to shore up and fix the things we need to fundamentally from a scheme standpoint. All those things, these are all valuable reps, these are all valuable games, we'll learn a lot from this game and hopefully we'll take another step this week. I mean, technically, if we're going to parse his language, he said Bryce is our quarterback and on Sunday that was true. He is our quarterback. On Monday, he is not our quarterback. But something happened and look, I'm surprised by the news that the Panthers have benched number one overall pick from the 2023 draft, Bryce Young, only two games into his second season, two games into a new coaching staff, two games into an opportunity for him to prove the team right. Not only did they use the first overall pick in the draft on him, Devin, they traded up from number nine. So number one, and in so doing, handed Caleb Williams to the Chicago Bears, I think that this has the fingerprints of ownership all over because every decision the Panthers make does. And as of Sunday, Dave Canala says, Bryce Young is our quarterback, then he meets with David Tepper and by Monday, he's not. So Tepper's out, that's the bottom line, Tepper's out on Bryce Young, Tepper's admitted that they screwed up. It's over. It's done. First, they will, will they put him back on the field at some point? No, it's done. I mean, maybe if injury forces them to, but you don't yank this kid out after two games of his second season and then say, oh, he just needs, like the river, what they did with Zach Wilson, he just needs a break, like, no, no, it's done. It's done. And I got to give David Tepper credit because the worst thing you can do, Devin, when you made a mistake is double down. You acknowledge it, you admit it, and you move on and that's what they're doing. And you know, what else could they do? They were horrible the first two wins. The hard thing, you're moving on to what, like Andy Dalton's now going to come in and fix this and now you're going to say, hey, you know, we're probably going to be the worst team in the NFL again. We'll get the number one pick overall. We still, we still stink a lot of other places on this team. We're not good really at many positions at all. So we're going to bring in another number one quarterback because if you look at Caleb Williams, a generational talent, he goes to Chicago and what does everybody say all off season? This is the best situation number one quarterbacks ever come into. Oh, this is going to be so, they're going to make the playoffs too. They might shock people. They might be a contender. And you look and it's still early, but you look at the game last week, Sunday night, it's hard. It's hard for Caleb Williams to go out there. It doesn't just happen. So now you take Bryce Young, who wasn't regarded the same way, Caleb Williams was regarded coming out and you put him on probably the worst roster in the NFL and you're like, hey, you need to be able to get this done. I'm very interested. Was it Tepper who jumped in right away and say that's it or did this, did this start in training camp, did they already feel coming into the season that this didn't look good and they weren't sure about how this was going to work out and as soon as, you know, only two games in there, like, yep, this is over with. Let's move on. Like I just wonder when they got the feeling, was it Tepper? Like you said, because again, we've heard that throughout the years, I've learned a lot from you in this situation. Yeah, that's a very, that's a very bad decision right there. But also you look right there, all the routes were going in the same spot. So I don't know, I get moving on, Bryce Young has not looked good. Because it hasn't been good at all. It goes back to, you know, listen to my former teammate Tom Brady talk about all these situations with these quarterbacks. He talked about offenses, dumbing it down to fit the quarterbacks because they're coming out of college and they didn't do anything in college that, you know, we do an NFL that was signals from the sideline. It wasn't really a playbook, it was all of that. They need time to sit, watch and get better. So maybe it goes back to that. I don't think this puts Caroline in a better situation going forward though. I get it, you move on, whatever, you think that, hey, we're going to get the number one pick, we're going to drive. I don't know whether it's back, whether it's Sanders, I don't know where they go. But like, I think this is just the same cycle you bring in another number one quarterback. Maybe he is better than Bryce Young, they're still not going to win with them. So I don't understand his decision at all for this organization. Well, I mean, it's way too early to think about teams deliberately trying to lose. But if you want to position yourself to get the number one overall pick so you can draft another quarterback, you know, and it doesn't matter because you're right. This isn't 2012 Andy Dalton. This is Andy Dalton perpetual backup. Nothing he can't play. He still has earned and deserves a spot on an NFL roster, but you're right. It's not suddenly going to be dramatically different. It's not like the Panthers like, oh, bell, watch out now, Andy Dalton's back. It's just that's not going to happen there at the bottom of the division with two teams that are 2 and 0 and the Buccaneers in the Saints who have both looked great. The Falcons are great last night. I mean, the Panthers are destined for the basement of the NFC South, barring some dramatic and unexpected change. You're right. They're rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic with this one. But this is just, I think, and there's two ways to look at it. It might have been the culmination of everything Dave Kanales and his staff have seen since arriving. This guy just isn't good enough. That might be it or it might have been David Tepper, impulsive, multi, multi billionaire, an adult version of Veruca Salt. I want it now and he got it in his head. The same way he got it in his head early last year that Bryce Young was the guy. He got it in his head that he's not the guy. He's done. It's over. And to your point about Carson back and Shadora Sanders, I tweeted this yesterday. And this is, this is like, and we mentioned it, you know, the thing we do on Sunday night, I got up on my soapbox about it then when we were talking about the Jets and how Sam Darnold, he gets away from the Jets. This is what I was waiting for. This is what I was waiting for. You know, you know, you've known me for like a year and you know how to push my buttons already, but if I'm Carson Beck, Shadora Sanders, top prospect, if the Panthers are going to draft me next year, my message to them is I'll just live off my NIL money and I'll reenter the draft in 2026. I'm not going to let you ruin me the way you ruined Bryce Young because at some point it's on the organization for drafting a guy they shouldn't have drafted, failing to develop him and just putting him in the middle of dysfunction and expecting him to function. And Sam Darnold is the best example we have right now of what happens when you finally get a guy in a spot where he's got the players around him. He's got the coaching around him. He's got the ownership around him that can allow him to thrive. And I keep waiting for this to happen. I'm trying to speak it into existence because I think it's in the best edge because how many careers Devin have been ruined? Guys who could have been good quarterbacks in the NFL for 10 years. How many were ruined by the fact that they ended up at a crap organization? I'll even throw in Geno Smith. We're watching him in Seattle right now and he was on the jets. It was like, this guy's terrible. So I agree with you, especially like you look at now with Carolina and Andy Dalton will be 37 in October. I'm 37 years old. You think Andy Dalton is in a rush to get there and say, hey, like we saw that clip. Bryce Young is running for his life. They send one extra guy. You think that 37 year old is going to be like, I'm so excited to get in there and run for my life. This whole time, Andy Dalton is sitting like, hey, I want to go to a situation where they might want the backup to be good because I'll make more money, but the truth of the matter is, Bryce Young, stay in there. I don't want to play. So now you just set your organization back by now putting in Andy Dalton and maybe he does do, maybe maybe he does a good job and I don't know, maybe they say, we're not going to drive the quarterback way to do something different. I will say a few years ago, I would be like, this is crazy. You got to go make the money. But the way these guys are making money now in college, it's a little bit more realistic to say, hey, even if you just threaten it, you don't want to and you are going to go. And if you're just trying to threaten that, they don't pick you is a better chance of coming in. And like you said, Bryce Young now is going to be the poster child of this of coming in being not only Carolina wanted them, there are reports that you still want to take Bryce Young. They wanted to move up and take Bryce Young. So all of a sudden, is he just not that good and everybody was wrong, or is he just in a terrible situation surrounded by all these people where, hey, maybe these two guys are maybe Quinn years, whoever else you want to throw in this situation, who's in college now is a top quarterback. Maybe they do come together and say, hey, we're not going to do this. We've made too much money. We'll stick around. Hey, we'll go commentate and watch all the games of our school last year and make more money, then go and get absolutely killed in the NFL and then in a year and a half, two years. Everyone says we're not says we're not good. And now we've got to be career backups. Hopefully until somebody finds us and we get to kind of do what's right, ie, even Baker Mayfield now. One of the examples I always point to for this dynamic is what if Donna McNabb had ended up not with the Eagles in 1999, but the Bengals and Achilles Smith, the Oregon quarterback, had ended up with the Eagles instead of the Bengals. As Achilles Smith become the borderline Hall of Famer and does Donna McNabb wash out of the league in a matter of two or three years. And you know, if, if the Panthers have taken CJ Stroud, they might have wrecked him and Bryce Young could be thriving with the Texans. It goes so far beyond the innate skills and abilities of the individual. You're thrust into an environment where there's only so much you can control, especially in your first or second year. And I think not nearly enough that the draft has become this mystical thing. The Harry Potter sorting hat, like we all get enamored by it, but you, you, you, you submit to this a play, you got no choice. That's always been my argument. You do have a choice. You do have power. And we get more and more of these NIL players coming into the NFL. They have power. I want to see them use it. And the reason they don't use it is because the fans will hate you if you even mention it. And that's wrong. They've been conditioned. They've been conditioned to react negatively if a play, how dare you? How dare you? You're ungrateful. That's all crap. Guys need to think about their careers. And that's what you would want as a fan. If it's your son, your brother, your nephew, your friend, your client, anybody you just happen to know or care about, you want them to be able to thrive in their job, not go to a place where they got one hand tied behind their back. Okay. Let's hear a little from the guy who said on Sunday, Bryce is our quarterback. And on Monday said, it's not our quarterback, Dave Canales. I'm sure you've all heard by now our decision to play Andy Dalton as we go into Las Vegas to play the Raiders, sitting Bryce down here, you know, after yesterday, just went home, watched the film, had some conversations with coaches with Dan Brant. So had to gather a lot of information through this morning and made that decision after looking at it, that this is the best decision for our group, for our team going forward. This is something after I watched the film. I looked at it, had a thought, started working on, talking to the guys that we make decisions with, certainly a lot of parties involved there. And ultimately this comes on me. And my number one responsibility is to help the Panthers win. And so this move, I believe, puts us in the best chance to do that this week. This is my decision. This is our football team. This is trying to win on a weekly basis. And while it's my decision, I gather information from the people that are critical to making these kind of decisions. But this is something that I felt like gives us our chance to take a step forward in our play style and to be able to compete this week against a really good Raiders team. Funny how he made a point of saying after week one that he met with David Tepper. And I didn't hear him mention ownership at all as he was saying, it's my decision. And I talked to these different people, you know, and that's part of the game. The owners want to be able to hide behind the curtain and pull the levers and press the buttons. And when the shit hits the fan, sorry, London, they want someone else to clean it up. And they don't want to be associated with that. They want it to be someone else's decision. But come on, we know how involved Tepper is with that team. It's okay to say it, Dave, we know it's not your decision, ultimately, or if it's your decision, you're making the decision that you think is smart given that that's the decision you think the guy who writes your checks wants you to make. The question now is, who's in a worse situation? Brian, you're doing a day of canalist and you take your job and you go from, you know, like you said, Sunday, this is your quarterback Monday, it's not like in your opinion, who's in a worse shape here? That's a great question. And you know, you hear so many times when guys are considered for head coaching jobs Devin, there's only 32 of these jobs. So they'll just take whatever job when their ship comes in. And it's a tough balance. Look at Ben Johnson, his ship came in. You never know that that window is going to be open, but it's better to wait than, you know, oh, there's only 32 of these jobs yet, but some of them shouldn't be. Some of these teams should maybe be relegated. And that's where Dave canalist finds himself. And look what we did to Frank Reich. I mean, really, when they, when they fired Frank Reich last year and deliberately mispronounced his name, owner called him, Reich, like, come on, that's like the ultimate sign of disrespect. If you're a coach who has any options, you're not taking that job. So canalist, that's the only play, I don't remember anybody else offering him a job. I don't think he chose between the, the Panthers in this and the Seahawks. I don't think that happened. And this is where we are. So it's already off the rails for the Panthers and it's not surprising. It really isn't. The question is, like you said, how's it going to get any better? It's not. 15 more games at some point. And I say this only half jokingly. They did it in 2021 near the end of the year. They brought back Cam Newton because it filled the stadium and it was exciting. Yeah. At some point, I mean, Cam Newton and Andy Dalton are the same age. I'd rather put Cam Newton out there, at least it would be more fun to watch. I agree because, and you see, Cam Newton, he can still go out there and run and do different things. I don't know if he's still throwing a ball of all of that, but like that's what I said, like this, it just doesn't make sense for the young quarterback and Bryce Young, but most importantly, as an organization, it doesn't make sense. Like the reason Andy Dalton is there is to be a mentor is to help Bryce Young get through some of these tough moments, not to go out there and play like, like, again, like you just said, if I'm a Carolina Panther fan, I'm, I'm, well, you probably can't sell your tickets because I don't know who else would want them. But why would you want to go to the game and see the product they're now going to each time you went to the game before it was like, there's this hope that one of these games, we're going to see what Bryce Young offers. We're going to see it pull through. We're going to see something different. I'd rather have that hope than to go and say, hey, we snuckling, we beat somebody because Andy Dalton had a little bit of a flashback and looked good and Andy Dalton is a good player. He's had a really good career, great dude, been around him, but I do not, I don't even want to turn on the TV. I like, I don't know what we're going to do in our viewing room because do we just turn that game off? Like, we don't want to see Andy Dalton in the Carolina Panthers to take the field. It's just, it's not it. I just, I don't understand why you wouldn't let this guy be a mentor, be like, he's known in the NFL is just a great dude to have leadership. Let him lead Bryce Young, see how much it helps him grow as a player, see where it takes you down the future. Even if you've decided the end of the year that you want to still move on and get another quarterback in the draft, do that. But why not still let Bryce Young go out there and play and get better? He's only had two games with this new offensive minded head coach who's redirected, breaker make field's career, like all of that stuff, just let him continue to play. There's no reason not to. Andy Dalton is making $4 million this year to be the quarterback of the Panthers. It's kind of like the quarterback semi-retirement gig where, yeah, I don't want to play. I'm getting paid good money to help the other guy get ready. Please stay healthy. Please stay on the field. And we got to take a break, but maybe at some level, maybe it's as simple as they bench Bryce Young because they were afraid he was going to get injured at some point. I doubt that they're that altruistic, but at some level, when you look at the clips we played, maybe they got him off the field for his own good because, you know, that was the issue. He's too small. And I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is sometimes. And their argument was, well, the process is so fast, not fast enough, and we've seen it. The experiment's over. I doubt we're going to see him again. Maybe he resurfaces in the future with a team that doesn't destroy quarterbacks. Maybe he gets a second life. Sometimes it takes eight years, sometimes it takes two or three years. Maybe that's what'll happen for Bryce Young. All right. We got to take a break. Panthers are one of nine teams. They're 0 and 2 after two weeks, which ones have the best chance to turn it around over the next 15 games and make it to the postseason. That's next year on PFT Live. We're going all the way to the end of the season, what a real one. We'll see. We'll see. And, you know, I've made the point. I've made the point several times, our audience that complains about anything and everything has never complained about Devin McCordy, never, not a sink. I mean, it's uncanny. It's like there's some sort of filter on my email that keeps out all the Devin McCordy complaints. Now, I'm starting to get, "We want more than one day from Devin." You're setting me up for an assault, and you keep coming over here and saying how good I am. Now, like everyone who's like, they've been meaning to email you, but they keep forgetting because they're getting busy, they're like, "All right, enough of this trash, Florio." He sucks. I've been shaking the tree for a month now, and nothing's coming out. If nothing's coming out, it's just growing up from the bottom. We want more. We want more. It's a grassroots campaign to get more Devin McCordy. All right. Some fans out there probably want less of what they've seen so far. Nine teams are 0 and 2, and this is when you start hearing all the different stats. I said to Sims yesterday, "Look, I don't care about the stats of how hard it is to make the plus when you start 0 and 2. A lot of teams start 0 and 2 suck, so we expect that to continue. It's the teams that are far better than the two games they play that are going to emerge because they maybe shouldn't have lost both of those games in the first place." So yeah, most of the teams that are 0 and 2 historically are 0 and 2 for a reason. I agree with you, and then it's looking ahead for some of these teams that we know they're a good football team. Like, why aren't they starting? It's also kind of looking ahead of like, "Well, what's in front of them? How easy is it going to be to turn it on and go win games?" Because again, we watch somebody's teams here like, "All right, it's a player or two here. They'll be fine." But then every time I say that and I think about that, I always hear every time we didn't win a Superlina New England, our last meeting, Bill would always remind us how hard it was to get to wherever we lost that year, AFC Championship, wildcard division around, how hard it was to get back to that moment, let alone try to get past that moment and actually go win the Super Bowl. So that always sticks in my mind whenever we kind of nonchalantly says, "Oh, like the Vegas. Oh, they're okay. They always start slow. They'll be fine." I'm always like, "Well, yeah. They're fine until they're not fine until that season happens." And everybody's like, "I don't know what happened. They always do this." Like, they did it twice. That's not always. So, I always try to think about that when you wonder if a team is going to be okay. How easily we say, "They'll be fine. I don't know. I don't know." I probably won't be the cheeriest guy during this segment of belief in these teams being okay. All right. We're going to start and we're going to focus on for now the AFC teams because we've spent way too much time talking about other things. And let's start with the Bengals because I've heard it enough from you to know that at best you're a skeptic on whether or not they can turn it around just because they've managed to do it a couple of times in the past. High, medium, low, very finely detailed specific categories we have here. High, medium, low. And I'm not. I'd rather it be that way. I'm not being critical. What's your confidence level in the Bengals getting to the playoffs after this 0-2 start? Is it high? Is it medium or is it low? It's medium right now. And I'll say it's medium. It's like on your dryer, you go medium or you go medium high. I go medium high not mainly because of what they've done even though they look better last week as Kansas City it's because of what they have left they like they have the commanders coming up the Panthers coming up then they have Baltimore who also is going to be on this list and then the Giants so just from a number standpoint they should definitely win those they should win three of those next four games easily kind of what we think about this even though nothing's easy in NFL so on medium high they should be okay that even if they're still not playing good ball that they can still get wins on their way so hopefully getting back to where they want to be the level they want to be playing at. I want to say hi but I'm going to say medium Devin because the reason that two times they turned it around and two times they didn't it all comes down to the availability of Joe Burrow in his rookie year torn ACL in November then they go to the Super Bowl the next year they almost get to the Super Bowl the year after that and then last year he has the wrist injury so he's got to be around he's got his superpower is as the stakes get higher he gets better and he arrives for the postseason but first he's got to get there but when he's available they've shown that they can navigate the remaining games and get to the postseason so it's medium only because it's a 50-50 shot historically as to whether or not he's going to be there when the end of the regular season rolls around all right Ravens 0 and 2 and 13 and 4 last year number one seed they've now lost three games in a row four games in a row right they lost to end the regular season no they want a playoff game in between so they have lost three games in a row dating back to the AFC championship high medium or low on whether or not they can get back to the postseason I can't believe I'm going to say this but as of right now I would say low I just think what we watching this is a team that I picked outside of Kansas City that I think they're going to be right there and a chance to go to the Super Bowl this year to upset Kansas like I picked Baltimore but what we've seen from this team to me just it does not look like winning football I think they have to find what they want to be on offense and so they find that I just don't believe in what they're doing are they going to be a smash mouth running team with Derrick Henry are they going to spread you out and try to run with Derrick like right now is just so easy when Derrick Henry comes in the game teams are selling out on a run when Justice Hill comes in the game they're playing passes predictable so I'm low right now in the Baltimore Ravens I just think that one of the things we overlook how hard it is here's another Dennis Green quote and it's one of my favorites to go back to the Valley of 0 and 0 when you've had a season that was so special you get to the one seed you squander it in the championship game you don't get to the playoffs then you go back to the Valley of 0 and 0 and you start off being reminded of the fact that there's a team in Kansas City that is your barrier to the Super Bowl I just think it's difficult and I I'm I don't want to say low because I know they're capable of turning it on when they want to the problem is the foot slips off the gas pedal we saw that on Sunday that's going to nag at them it's going to be harder than it was last year I'm still medium but I they got to show me they got to show me they can build a lead hold a lead and just recapture that glow they had last year okay Jacksonville Jaguars 0 and 2 1 and 7 in their last eight games the owners put everyone on notice can they turn it around are you high medium or low on their playoff chances well we're extra low we turn the heat off right now and Jackson the game the game Sunday them and Cleveland was just like who wants to lose more it's not like we watched some game where it was like hey they wanted to get it was like it was like who's going to suck more and that's what the game wasn't Jacksonville again it's it's another team that again it's hard I hate saying it too because week one they're a Travis Etienne touchdown away if he runs in instead of Jevon Holland punching the ball out they're going to be up 24/7 to the Miami Dolphins and probably walk away with a win in that game a fumble to Eric Hill scores the 80-yard touchdown on the next play and now they're 0 and 2 and I just don't think there's enough positives coming out of Jacksonville for them as a team to think that they're going to have a chance to win in the AFC right now and make the playoffs yeah I'm going to go low as well I don't know what's gone wrong with the Jacksonville Jaguars but they have lost whatever they had last year like they get to the round of 8 2022 give the Chiefs a little bit of a run for their money they have that that hey look at them maybe they're on to something last year it falls apart down the stretch and now it's still there Trevor Lawrence basically said we suck right now and uh he got the big con a lot of these guys get the big contracts in the offseason the big quarterback contracts we're we're still waiting to see the return for a variety of reasons injury, ineffectiveness or otherwise but it's time Trevor Lawrence you're you got the money it's time to to lift that team up and obviously he's not going to be the one who gets fired if they don't they're gonna be looking for another coach come next year and the owners already made that clear Colts Colts 0 and 2 as well could be 2 and 0 should be 1 and 1 high medium or low on whether or not they get to the playoffs yeah I'm across the board I'm going low again I just you play Green Bay Jordan Love gets hurt Malik Willis just gets there and you can't you can't find a way to win I just I don't see the avenue for somebody's teams that gets in the playoffs it's it's not a good thing to start in a hole like this so I'm worried for the coaches to make the playoffs as well Anthony Richardson is like an amusement park ride with thrills, chills, spills, it's fun if you're not a Colts fan it's fun if you are a Colts fan you're gonna age like a president this season yeah I mean it's you know it's an amusement park ride and ownership is not amused that's the problem and this is the biggest I said this yesterday to Chris when the guy misses most of his rookie season when he desperately needs reps he's getting him now all this stuff should have happened last year because he's got when it's good it's like the this was Peter King always told me this about Bill Walsh Bill Walsh would say if I see a guy do something once I can get him to do it all the time and that's what puts the whole operation in danger in Indy if they can't get Anthony Richardson do the good stuff all the time it's gonna be somebody else next year getting him to do the good stuff all the time all right we got to move quickly through the last two although given your lack of faith in the teams we've already discussed let's just throw the Titans and the Broncos in the same bucket and and let's just put Devin down for no way in hell I think that's probably your assessment of both teams and tell me if I'm wrong check mark you know let's not waste time going deep into that Brian Calla has already frustrated with Will Levis and Denver I mean I just don't see it both next I think he's having a decent rookie year I think he's gonna get better throughout the year but not not to make the playoffs and look in Tennessee it's a new head coach it probably would be a new quarterback next year so Brian Callahan gets a chance to get his own guy Sean Payton's already had a chance to get his own guy I just wonder I don't know enough about this new ownership group to know how patient they will be but I do know they can write a check whenever they want and buy out any coach they would want for any amount of money because they they are the richest by far it's like staggering how much they have by way of resources compared to the number two owner on the list all right let's take a break the Jets are thin along their defensive front after a major injury what does that mean for the Hassan Redic holdout next year on PFT line is that this one man and my eye just came back positive well negative information was positive for so I did tear my theories but we good man we in great spirit we're going we're going to get back right come on this is another opportunity to brag about what I came from so let's get it great attitude I love the mindset one day after having his season end with a torn Achilles tendon Aaron Rodgers made the comment yesterday that Jermaine Johnson's instantly in a much better place than he was after it had happened to him but we know this is one of the risks just like concussions we talked about that last week broken ankles torn ACLs you know can happen any time when it happens you pivot into I know it can't be easy Devin but you have to pivot into I got to get myself back to 100% so I can go risk getting injured again mode yeah and you know it's the toughest thing as a player uh Joanne Bentley linebacker for the Patriots found out he tore his pet yes and I was texting him and that's what he said to me said it sucks because the amount of work I put in for this year and it's the same thing for all of these players but there's another guy and he's not happy about the injury but Hassan Redic's looking there he's looking at Joe Douglas looking at the Jets hey I'm just saying I'm sitting here I want to get paid you now have a team with a small window now you have a chance the win this year Hassan Redic's deal should be getting done sooner than later to get him back out there because I can't imagine they say let's play out this year and not bring in a guy we traded for after losing Jermaine Johnson and look dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional things and I put the blame all the way up to ownership I do that more often than not because I think they generally try to hide and blame others for their decisions is this Joe Douglas or is this Woody Johnson saying screw that guy we're not going to pay him but at some point you got to cry uncle if you care about the team at some point you got to find a way you got to find this is where you prove that you're not dysfunctional find a win win yeah swallow your pride a little bit set the ego aside come up with a mutually beneficial outcome and they haven't done it yet and and we'll see if they can do it now what we do know is they'll be making their home opener on Thursday night against your New England Patriots Patriots one and one Jets one and one I you know I I got spoiled last night I want another good game you know we kissed a few frogs the first couple of weeks to get to the game we had last night are your Patriots gonna deliver on Thursday night with an exciting game I don't care if they win I just want to be entertained well I think everyone probably thought this was going to be a game the Jets were going to go and kill New England but now looking at the first two weeks I I think we get the old school Jets Patriot rivalry match up hopefully a game right down to the end I'll be there calling all west with one so hey I got no dogs in the race no horses in the race I I'm just going to spectate and call a good game but now wait a minute wait a minute hang on after all the stuff you said about Jason Kelsey calling the Eagles game if I tune into westwood one on Thursday night is it going to sound like Patriots pre-season broadcast or is it going to be I'm straight down the middle and no one can accuse me of of wearing my Patriots throwback hoodie like I did last Tuesday off PFT live hey I'm going to give you a quote that I learned from an legendary coach Bill Belichick when I went in his office I told him I was retiring he said hey I know you're gonna go to TV if you got a mother F me mother F me I get it if you raw mail and the Patriots are not ready to go and I got a mother F them I'm a mother F them and I'm gonna give credit to those Jets I picked the Jets to win a division so hey I still want to be right on my prediction so you're gonna get an even good game good call out of me I am speaking to the football gods I know that's blasphemous but I'm already going to hell anyway I'm speaking to the football gods and I am saying please Thursday night let the Patriots have the ball on the Jets 10 third and three with less than two minutes to play up three and throw a pass please no that'll give you raw mail fire don't do it all right let's take a break when we return it is a very big day for Patrick Mahomes will tell you why but he has to live returns right after Patrick Mahomes is tied with Roger Stalbock and Tom Brady for the most wins in their first 100 NFL starts 76 Mahomes still has two more chances to pass them he plays in number 99 Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons and he turns 29 today I don't know how to feel about that because on one hand it feels like he's been around forever but on the other hand he's still kind of like that bright new fresh like perpetually 25 it's weird to hear that number attached to his name because we still kind of view him as like that young great quarterback but he's been at it now for a while and then when you think about like quarterback years in technology and the rehabs and what guys are doing and you watch Brady you're like well like do we still have like is Mahomes still really going to go to like 45 years old like we still have all of this time left with this great quarterback what like what else is he going to accomplish it it's a weird thing especially now being retired you're like but I played against this guy when he was young and he's still kind of young like he he's not even like his name doesn't go black yet on everybody's boards like he's still blue he's still a blue chip he's not like you got to be over 30 for your name to change colors on all of the boards and coaches and GM's offices so it's very interesting and it's scary for the rest of the league of what else he's going to accomplish and his mom made some comments this summer about the possibility that he'll stop playing sooner than anyone expects and that got chief fans a little route up how dare I mention those comments they didn't like that very much but she said it to be interesting to see as his family gets older we saw the issues that happened late in Tom Brady's career you know when you play into your 40s you have kids that are older you got a lot of stuff going on it's harder to make the whole family existence about you and your career that that's where it could become a little more challenging but I'm a good boy I'll say I'll see you happen anytime soon we still got time especially not until he catches Tom with seven if he catches Tom with seven okay one challenge for now Isaiah Pacheco we mentioned on Sunday night at halftime at the Texans Bears game the concern was his fibula it turns out it's fractured and he's gonna be out six to eight weeks that's that that is a very potent force that gives the Chiefs their running game Devin and they're gonna have to they're gonna have to find help they're bringing in cream hunt for a visit Jared McKinnon's out there they're gonna have to make something happen because Pacheco I think one of the most underrated running backs in the NFL yeah again like I said Sunday night he's a Rutgers guy so we knew it was gonna take a lot to keep him out so a fractured fibula that's gonna keep him out but the good thing for them is they have good history with some good backs like you mentioned McKinnon and Kareem Hunt they can bring them in put them right back in the fold and they can do maybe they bring in two guys and they'll do two different things and they'll find a way to make up a little bit for what Pacheco brought get ready Leshan McCoy your phone's gonna ring soon or let's take a break when we return our draft for today going back to the Bryce Young theme quarterbacks who would benefit from a draft mulligan we'll do that next on PFT Live all right today's draft and I guess this is the Bryce Young Memorial draft the quarterbacks who would benefit the most from a draft mulligan now we're taking it all the way back to when they were drafted not what team should they go to now or should they go to a new team quarterbacks that we know very well based upon how things have gone or haven't gone going back and reshuffling and getting to go to a different team so Devin I'll give you the first pick and you can use Bryce Young if you want to usually when we do the Bryce Young Memorial draft and name it after somebody we exempt that person you can pick any quarterback you want to get a mulligan in the draft I got to go with the guy I got to see firsthand it's got to be Mac Jones so much coming out going to New England it hasn't worked out now he's backing up Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville maybe Miami calls him and he gets traded to Miami but Miami San Francisco a lot of teams are thrown out of places he possibly could have been I know Matt would love to do the draft over again I'm going to start that same draft and when the 49ers traded up from 12 to 3 at first we thought they were going to take Mac Jones then they settle on Trey Lance Shanahan wanted a guy that would play a little bit more like my homes run the play that's called and if it doesn't work then you can move around some and extend the play it just never happened and Trey Lance should have never wanted to go there they had Jimmy Garoppolo it was clunky it was awkward and now he's buried on the depth chart in Dallas I'd love to see Trey Lance get a shot to start his career over again drafted by somebody other than the 49ers there we go the guy who so far has looked good and falls into the circle with all of the former Jets quarterback Zach Wilson looked good in Denver this year in the preseason I just think he got drafted in the spot and was expected to play when a lot of people felt like he wasn't a project that was going to come out and play right away needed time to develop and get better so I think Zach Wilson would love to be on any other team when he got drafted other than the New York Jets at that time and we mentioned him earlier but I gotta I gotta mention him here because it comes from this this long run of quarterbacks the Jets have ruined Sam Donald yeah I said we're seeing what Sam Donald can be six years after he was drafted and if he had landed with a great play designer a great play caller a team that had resources around him he might have become like right now it's so hard to push back against the narrative that's out there about Sam Donald because he got ruined by the Jets and now he's being resurrected by the Vikings all right let's take a break one more round of the Bryce Young one more quarterback draft Mulligan draft what PFT life continues right after this all right one more round quarterbacks who could use a draft Mulligan draft Devin who else do you have boy that is it's just depressing to see but yeah it's just sad that those guys didn't get a chance to flourish all right who else do you have I'm gonna go just it feels just it feels goes to Chicago he looks better now he's two and oh as a starter still not complete but now it's like what if he would have started on this trajectory as a rookie where he's at now Justin feels definitely going to want to do over my last pick I don't feel great about it but Jordan Love had to sit on the bench for three years Jordan Love was the bystander two three years of dysfunction between Aaron Rodgers in the front office like if he were now anyone anyone but the Jets I mean it ended up okay but that probably made him only is if there's a place he could have gone and been able to play earlier he'd be even better now by the way our our friend Mary after we played the neuralizer she said thank you I can't remember why but thank you so the neuralizer works Eagles fans go find Will Smith today get your memory wiped clean and we'll see you back here tomorrow new markdowns up to 70% off are at
