[Music] Welcome back everyone to the prime time edition of the football function podcast hosted by yours truly goose. For this episode we're going to be going over both the Sunday night and the Monday night games. Let's get things started off with the Sunday night game where the Chicago Bears traveled to Houston to face off with the Texans. In a game where we were all probably thinking like when this year started that this was going to be an offensive battle. You know the Texans have really turned their everything around with the edition of CJ Stroud and stuff on digs, mix in, they have really really brought that offense together and then with the Bears getting Kayla Williams first overall getting Roma Dunes a DJ Moore coming back and then with the editions of Keenan Allen and DeAndre Swift. This just looked like it was going to be a high scoring whoever's got the ball ass is going to win type of game and it really just turned out to not have much of any really action outside of just a handful of field goals. Like I said the first two drives from both teams ended in field goals and the rest of the game was not really much different. Kind of digging in more towards this Bears team. I know we're only two weeks in. I know there's a long season but I don't know if the Bears are as happy with their investment in Kayla Williams as they thought they would be. You know you hear the stories about Kayla Williams texting their punter saying "oh you're not going to have to punt much, not going to have to do this" being real cocky and not saying that I'm rooting for his failure but you know people need to realize that the NFL I think is just a different game. You know this is coming from a guy that never even played college you know high school. So I've got no room to talk but you know I just think there's a lot of these guys that come in and think "oh I did this so and so in high school or in college" and NFL is a completely completely different game. You know he only threw for 174 yards and ended the game with two interceptions. He did throw for more yards than he did last week and there were times that he did look like he's they're getting the thing going. He still has his one of his interceptions with him trying to do too much and then just throwing it down. So I think he'll get all that cleaned up and I really think the Chicago Bears are going to be fine. I don't think this team needs to panic. They have a very very very strong defense that was able to hold this Texans offense to really only one touchdown but eventually they'll get all their offense clicking and I think that I think the Bears will have a fine season. Now kind of moving over to the Texans this was a quiet night for the team since like I stated earlier it ended with only one touchdown and that touchdown being a 20 yard or 28 yard pass from Stroud to Nikko Collins. Both of these players are who I would consider to be one of the two of the few key players in this game was Stroud throwing for over 260 yards and Nikko Collins into the night with 35 receiving yards but if I had to give out my personal MVP for this game I mean it would have to go to the Texans kicker Fairbairn. He was four for four in fill goals with his longest being 59 yards and that's where most of their points came from you know that's 12 points out of their 19 so with his help the Texans were able to hold off the Bears just to secure a victory Sunday night with a final score of 19 to 13. Now let's just go ahead and shift over to the Monday night game where the Atlanta Falcons headed to Philadelphia to face off with the Eagles. This was another one of those games that not a lot of action happened in the first half I believe there was actually 0 points scored in the first quarter so it really took a long time for both of these teams to find a really good rhythm. Like I said only 0 points scored in the first quarter and we saw the game going into halftime with just a score of 7-6 with Eagles holding on to a narrow lead. Kicking off the second half both teams drive drove down to getting matching field goals making the game a 10 to 9 game and it was not really until the late in the third quarter that we got too much excitement or anything that really got the crowd into it and that came from a 41-yard touchdown from Kirk Cousins to Darnell Mooney. It was a great pass great run. It really kind of brought that game alive with that play and really kind of led towards a more exciting finish to this game. Going into the fourth quarter the Eagles were able to drive the ball down and do their signature push push touchdown to go up. They tried to go for a two-point conversion because their lead was only three that failed. After the Falcons got the ball back they just went and had a measly three and out. Punted it back which was a great punt and the Eagles got the ball back and worked their way downfield slowly to try to ice the game but their drive was brought to a halt when Saquon Barkley missed a what I guess seems to be more of a controversial choice it was a little screen or a little out pass but it was wide open would have easily got them the first down yes there's talks of oh they should have been running it Saquon was moving the ball they should have gone for it on fourth you know tried that but ultimately missing that pass stopping the clock and then kicking the field goal to only go up six with not much time but if we all know it was enough time for Kirk Cousins like I said with just little time to spare Kirk Cousins was really able to lead an incredible drive I mean everything worked everything it clicked on all cylinders everything was like went exactly how they needed it to go and they capped off the drive with a seven-yard pass to Drake London to score the touchdown to go up there was a to really build the excitement with the game tied Drake London did get penaltyed for unsportsmanlike conduct which moved the field goal back to what seemed like a huge extra long extra point I'm sure it had all Atlanta fans stressed out I know I was stressed out because what what seemed to be a free gimme turned into a very very difficult kick but the Falcons were able to score the extra point and go up 22 to 21 they did leave a little time for the Eagles but ultimately it didn't matter what just after two plays Jalen Hertz did throw an interception and the Falcons were able to complete the comeback with a score of like I said 22 to 21 that's pretty much all I got guys hard for me to really break down the tightens right now because they genuinely upset me every time I watch it so I don't think you can bench Will Levis I mean he's never going to learn and like I said it was a second round quarterback so if this experiment does fail with Will we're not losing too much it's not like we wasted so much money to get a guy like Deshawn Watson or ultimate other guys like that so I'm not going to pull the panic yet it's still early still a lot of going but having a defense that looks as good as they they have and just an offense that with that much talent and just not being able to do anything with it is just really frustrating as a fan so with that being said like I just hope everybody's enjoying hope everybody's team's doing a little bit better than mine congratulations to Mike and his Atlanta Falcons I'm sure he really enjoyed this Monday night game so but hope all y'all take care and I will see y'all in the next round of prime time games.
