My core media. The first place to hear Rockingham County News and Information. News is sponsored by Dyer's Plumbing. The Center for Workforce Development at Rockingham Community College opens Thursday. The public has invited a campus for the ceremony. The 42,000 square foot facility will have advanced manufacturing programs, computer integrated machining, mechatronics, engineering and electrical systems technologies. And the Small Business Center will be located there. Plus a corporate meeting space, it seats 200, open to business, industry and the community. The $25 million project is primarily funded by a quarter since sales tax passed in 2018. The grand opening is Thursday at 10. It's also a ribbon cutting for the Industrial Technologies 2 building, following a full renovation, allowing the welding program at RCC to more than double in size. It's been a year since the North Carolina License Plate Agency closed in Eden. Good news, it'll be opening again soon and only a couple of blocks from where it was, in the former bank building at Washington and Braid Streets adjacent to the municipal parking lot. More information coming soon. Braid School Fire Department is having live training exercises today at 2624 South Skills Street. Roadways will remain open during the control burn between 9 and 6. Use extra caution when driving through the area. In business news, NC Department of Transportation is planning $33 million worth of interchange improvements to handle traffic at buckies at I-4085 in Mebin, the company's first North Carolina location, a 75,000 square foot travel center on 32 acres with 120 gas pumps and 600 parking spaces. It's expected to open in early 2027. Kmart is closing its last full-size store in Bridgehampton Long Island. Last day will be October 20th. At its peak in the 1990s, Kmart had about 2,500 stores throughout the United States. UNC Health has filed plans to build a $462 million 50-bed community hospital in Wake Forest, North-East of Raleigh. It's on 50 acres just off US 1. The property is currently owned by South-Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The new hospital will eventually employ more than 500 people. Plumbing problems called Dires 336-2369-69. Dires plumbing. I'm Dr. Steve Leuking, running for Senate District 26. Phil Berger brags how he has dropped corporate taxes to the lowest in the country. To pay for this though, he's cut public school funding drastically to 48th in the nation. Now our counties are forced to massively raise property taxes to fund schools. As your senator, I'll make sure corporations pay their fair tax share for training a skilled workforce. I'm Steve Leuking and I approve this ad. Today, we're prioritizing our well-being and celebrating the markers that make our language clear. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it's easy to overlook our own well-being. Self-care is not just about pampering, but about taking the time to nurture your mental, emotional, and physical health. From taking a quiet walk in nature, to setting boundaries and saying no when necessary. Self-care can take many forms. This month is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of self-care and encouraging everyone to make it a priority. So take a moment to do something that refreshes your spirit and recharges your energy because it's Self-care Awareness Month. I know what will refresh or recharge my energy. What? I say no. Marla, you say that a lot already. Really? Especially to me. To me, specifically, yes. Oh, I hope you hear it over and over again. No! Wow. You're so kind. It's so nice of you. You tell me after practice this all the time, so no! Not to me. They know the other people. Now, let's give a nod to the unsung heroes of written communication, punctuation marks. These small but mighty symbols guide us through the nuances of language, adding clarity, emphasis, and emotion to our words. Yay! Whether it's the exclamation point that expresses excitement, the comma that provides a necessary pause, or the semicolon that links related dots, punctuation marks are essential to effective writing. So take a moment to appreciate the craft of writing and the role of punctuation because today is National Punctuation Day. So do you use punctuation when you're texting? Generally, yes. How about you? Of course. But I feel like maybe you overused him a little bit. You don't like all my extra exclamation points? And then you have like 10 question marks like I didn't get the first one. It's listed. Less is more sometimes, Marlow. Good lesson, Flutoya. I'm Latoya Johnson. I'm Marlow Anderson. Thank you for joining us on our journey to celebrate every day. And join us for all of our celebrations on Facebook and Instagram at Destination Celebration Show. Until next time, keep celebrating. Now, let's see who's celebrating on our birthday club. Wait, what? No birthdays today. Oh, one of those rare days. Nope. Nobody told me about a birthday for the 24th. So we'll move along. I've already licked ahead though. Yes, I have birthdays for the rest of the month. And you can still get those into me. Text them to 3, 3, 6, 932-1881. 932-1881 for their birthday club and our weekly giveaway. Now, tomorrow I'll have names for the 25th. And then we'll at the end of the week have our giveaway. All seven days of birthdays for this week, Sunday through Saturday. And you could get in on that again. 3, 3, 6, 932-1881 for their birthday club. So I'm taking names for the rest of September and all of October. Let's see here. Moving along, no big name birthday is either. What is going on here? Well, I do have our music spotlight. And today we remember Ray Charles born this week, September 23rd, 1930 to be exact. Singer, songwriter, musician, composer, considered one of the most iconic and influential musicians in history, crossing many genres of music. Lots of big hits from Ray Charles, including this one. I've made up my mind to live in memory of alone some time. It's useless to say, so I'll just live my life. It means our masterpiece. Those happy hours that we once knew, the long ago, they still made me go. They say that time, here's a broken heart. Time has to steal. Says we've been apart. Yeah. I've made up my mind to live in memory. All alone some time. Time has to go. It's useless to say, so I'll just live my life. Dream of yesterday's. All that we are, those happy hours that we once knew, the long ago, they still made me go. They say that time, here's a broken heart. Here's a broken heart. Time has to steal. Says we've been apart. I've made up my mind to live in memory of alone some time. Sing a song to me. It's useless to say, so I'll just live my life. All dreams of yesterday's. Oh, that's nice. Now, today's motivation a moment thanks to Livingstone, wealth management, Raymond James in Madison. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. That's today's program. Thank you, friends, for listening. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Be sure to count your blessings today. [BLANK_AUDIO]
