Mike Moore Media. The first place to hear Rockingham County News and information. News is sponsored by Dyer's Plumbing. If you haven't seen my exclusive Facebook post about Tuesday night's water rescues in Reedsville, here's a summary. First around 815 at Wolf Island Road and Wake Forest Drive, the Rockingham County Swiftwater Rescue Team unable to use an inflatable raft because the water was flowing too fast, deployed a motor-powered boat with three first responders and rescued two people on top of a vehicle that had washed into a cornfield. Then around 1145 at Oregon Hill Road and Aspen Road, the driver said he ran up on high water before he realized it. A fire truck from the Oregon Hill Department was used to rescue him. Both of those areas are prone to flooding. 911 received 355 calls, double the usual night shift between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday with 198 dispatch for service. The majority storm related involving many agencies. Mike Moore Media was the first to post photos of a significant washout on Missouri Lane off NC 704 near the Rockingham Stokes County line. It's a dead-in private property, not state-maintained and has 11 residents. No vehicles can get in or out. Over two dozen Facebook comments on that, including several people living on Missouri Lane, concerned no emergency vehicles can come in if needed.
