Jaden Daniels, a command performance. Did we see this something special? Begin last night, meanwhile speaking of special. There are only three letters you need to describe Josh Allen last night and we'll tell you what those are. Spoiler alert, they're MVP. And then all the D in Big D stands for dysfunction. What a mess can they possibly get it cleaned up in time for Thursday night. Those are the questions. Here come the answers. It's time to get up with your star board. - Oh! - Thank you. - Woo! - Come on! - Nick is lookin' clean. Saturday is a water skiing, I don't know what's goin' on. We'll explain. Graziano's got notes. Marcus will be with us shortly. Let's go Monday night football. Twice as nice last night. Two games, but the performance of the night came from one of the young quarterbacks. Here we go. We got Jaden, we got Barrow. Fourth game since 1950 with Heisman winning quarterbacks who went to the same school. Early, Barrow, and that guy went to LSU too. - That is an incredible throw. Right on target, the coverage wasn't perfect, but the throw was even better. - Bangles a seven-nothing lead, but the rookie was unfazed. This is a fourth and two to Luke McCaffrey. - It was poised all night, Jaden Daniels. If you can get a ball to the McCaffrey, then you're probably in good shape. - Notice it does not quite stay inbound, so if you have Brian Robinson Jr. on your fantasy team, you were delighted about that. - I see Grazziano celebrating. Jeff, they punch it in. - You got to love it. Hey, get physical, in the trenches on the goal. - They were like an inch away. - You got to have the third try out of it. - Shied at seven. Bangles miss a field goal, and here comes Austin Echler. - Impressive speed from Echler. The hole opens up, he squeezes through it and then just bursts it in zone. - 14-7 commanders, but they were just getting started. It's 14-10, we're late in the half. How about this throw from Jaden Daniels? - Look at the time in the pocket and then air mail that you can't place it. Run out there and place the ball better than he just dropped that in. - He never had a completion of 50 or more air yards in college, now he's got one in the NFL. Then he takes this one on the very next play in for the touchdown, his dad loves it. Commanders up, what's my boy? - Yes! - Look at that, but wait a minute, after a great kick return, would set them up again. We got a 6-6! - 6-6 baby! - We are back, big, big show and everybody, how to do it. Hey, welcome to the league, Daniel's find the best old lineman you've got and feed him, yes sir! - Trent Scott, his first career touchdown. - Yes, you do. - I like him, 28-13. We're still in the, not now we're in the third quarter, sorry. This is Burrell, this is T Higgins. So he's back after missing the first two games, a big edition and then you know who we really like, Dan. We really like this Andre Josima. - Yeah, from Prespin, so you know he's a heady player. (laughing) We do that for other reasons too. Bangles up 28, down 28-20, fourth quarter. Here's a spectacular throw from Burrell. Look at this play, Jeff. - Listen, again, one of the best in the business continues to show you why, trying to match this score right here, great ball, great placement. How about Chase just, what a day for him to lay hands. It's upset, it's maddening to lay hands right there. - Second touchdown of the night, they go for the two, don't get it. Now Washington going for it on a fourth and four and they do get it to Zachar, it's Bangles fans not happy, they see what's coming out, hold everything. Third and seven, here's the signature play of the young career of Jane Daniels, we will show it to you. (laughing) Look at the head, he takes me. - That is incredible, to throw that ball that accurately with a man jumping through your chest, it's incredible. - Daniel's on the night, accounted for three touchdowns and threw two incomplete passes. - Wow. - It was Washington's first game with no punts and no turnovers since 1940. A star was born last night, announcing himself on the national stage, 91% completion, highest by a rookie in NFL history, and this was not a show of dinking or dunking, the average nine yards per air attempt completed eight passes over 10 yards. Now, I have occasionally in my career, been described as being prone to hyperbole. (laughing) So I'm gonna try and temper it. - Of course. - What I merely say, a superstar was born last night, and his name is Jayden Daniels, agree or disagree. - Agree, 100% agree. - Hey, this kid played lights out and give him a ton of credit, the poise that he showed, and Dominique and I talked about it, the conviction he put the ball, there were a ton of long third down conversion, fourth down where they're pressing it, fourth and fourth. It's all on the line. He doesn't shrink back. He continues to make play after play, and the final touchdown to scary Terry, let's be real. Most, most humans are shying away from that. Not even quite human. You don't want to get hit, you know, unabated under the chin, and that he puts that ball right there, an incredible catch as well. But wow, just an impressive, impressive night. - That's my, that's why, the throw is unbelievable. But the fact that he has to see the defender bearing down on him because it's right in his line of vision, he, that is a gopsy. - A new religion may have been started in DC last night based on that resurrection alone. That play was insane, and one of the criticisms of Jane Daniels was he seems to be okay with taking a lot of unnecessary big hits, but that's a situation where a guy who is taking a lot of hits is not afraid to take one in the chest and throw a perfect ball. - Danny, what are you hearing at it? Because before, even before this, that we have been hearing they love him there from the minute he set foot in the ball. - It poises the word. He kept hearing all summer long with Jane Daniels. And look, I mean, he started 55 games in college. Like this is one of the benefits of what's going on in college football the last couple of years and how long these guys have been able to play. But he's been a starter since he was a freshman at Arizona State. - Yeah. - Herman Edwards coaching him, and you can see the way he developed at LSU. Like, I mean, look, the way he throw, everybody, oh, he can run, we know he can run, but those throws to McCloring that are out in front of him from that deep, I mean, like he can do everything. The concern is obviously they have to build him a defense. And yes, I mean, he needs to figure out a way to protect himself a little better from those crushing hits. But that's a guy that's, you know, this throws to win the game. I'm going to stand there and make it. - There were several plays like that down the stretch where they got penalized and they're in second and long or third and long. He kept converting and I know we're going to be critical of the Bengals defense. But it's an NFL defense that Patrick Mahomes had trouble with last week. - So these are impressive plays for a young player to be already making in his career on Monday night. It's a one for 23, but Monday night. - They haven't punched it in two weeks. They haven't punched it since week one. - Yeah, one was a miscommunication. One was an overthrow of the two, incredibly. So you, so one, one, you can assign to him. But as you talk about his performance and what he looked like, I think the biggest thing that you take away from this is his ability to seize the moment. He's playing Joe Burrell. Whether you want it Monday night against one of the best in our game and to match it and out the corner, right? - Same score, right? I mean, he's awesome. - Right, absolutely. - He's all of that stuff there. - I saw him play. - In Burrell's shadow at LSU, right? - Absolutely. - I saw him play Ole Miss live last year and he is, the moment is never too big for him. He just continues to make play after play after play. It's just, he's an impressive kid and to your point, stay healthy. Don't dive. And he slid, named God, thank God, but I mean, don't dive anymore. That's all I asked for. Because the shot that you're taking in the chest, that's not going away. There's going to be some free blitzers. So let's limit them to those and you can score touchdown and make it even better. - For people who didn't watch LSU play last year, the note that everyone was making around the draft is being, his running ability obscured the fact that he is a great pocket passer. - Absolutely. - He was better from the pocket than he was than a lot of the other quarterbacks who we would have signed that to normally just because he runs so well. - Right, and the ability and the confidence as Washington had him throughout the spring and the summer, enabled him to give him more and more and more of the playbook as, then they would have expected to be able to give a rookie. And that's, so they're very excited about him. I know the fans in Washington are very excited about him and there's no reason not to be what a night. - Okay, so my phone is blowing up for two reasons. And I think they're both telling. One, I got the victory laps. From all of the endless to telling me, I told you Daniels was number one, I told you Daniels was number one. I believe we heard it on this show and on the draft from a lot of people. So A, they're taking victory laps in each other out of the way to get that. But for every action, there is an equal opposite reaction. You know, my history with Chicago? All my Bears fans, friends, terrified. - It's terrifying. - It's terrifying. - It's terrifying. - Is Jaden Daniels the next CJ Stroud? - And if so, what does that make Caleb Williams? We've all saw what happened at number one and number two last year. So well, I think Caleb Williams has what it takes to be a superstar. What we are having people ask is, we get the wrong guy. I'm getting that question, what is the answer? - Tell you Chicago buddies to chill out. - We're three weeks into the season, and Caleb-- - It's my wife. - It stays chill. (laughing) - Well, that still stays to chill. - It stays chill. - Have a drink, it'll be all right. - Yeah, take some time, and he will come around. I think that-- - Sorry, I just got to do it from the point. But you believe, you-- - Yeah, I mean, I think that it's way too early to-- You can have-- - You don't think 40 weeks is enough, that's going to be completely right. - You can have two good quarterbacks in the draft. It could happen, guys. It doesn't have to be one another. Just because one is playing well doesn't mean that Caleb Williams won't win. - And let me say this about them as well, is that you have a better setup in Washington than Caleb Williams has in Chicago. With the run game, when you have-- You talking about Echler and different players being able to support Jaden Daniels. You saw that big run from Echler. He's not getting-- Caleb Williams isn't getting the same help quite yet as what is happening for Jaden Daniels in Washington. And again, I think part of that goes into the support system around. Both kids, though, have done tremendous things in the first three weeks. Caleb Williams, obviously, the two picks in Indy on the sideline, bad decisions. He'll work through those. But I would say both of them to me have great upside. I like what both of them have looked like. - Yeah, three weeks is obviously more than enough time to make these conclusions. We know that we don't have any coach this year. - This young Jaden Daniels is going to win six MVPs. Everything is very, very clear. Look, it was absolutely realistic to believe that Jaden Daniels was more ready to jump right into the NFL than Caleb Williams based on his college experience. That's fair. But yeah, obviously, it's way too soon to be victory lapping. It's way too soon to be freaking out in Chicago. - Not for our guys. - They built Jaden Daniels, a running game in Washington that has helped with the protection, which is one of the big questions, right? And in Chicago, they haven't got the run game going yet. And obviously, I think that's affecting everything. - One of the interesting things about the comparison is I think we all thought going into last year that Bryce was in a better situation. And CJ was in the worst situation and we were wrong. And I think the same thing that's similar right now is we were thinking the situation is going to be perfect in Chicago. It's not perfect if you don't got some of these guys doing their job in the middle of the line. - Much as we hate to acknowledge it, the most important thing for a young quarterback are guys who were built like you when you played. And that is an offensive line. And Bill Belichick pointed it out last week. Jaden Daniels has one of those in Washington and Caleb Williams does not have one in Chicago. - You can't do a little bit about football. I'm not sure. - Well, that's the point. Yeah, I'll check it. But I think that is maybe the note to take from this. 'Cause as you watch them, there seems to be an element. I'm gonna use the word frenetic. Like Caleb Williams looks a little frenetic. Like it's all happening very quickly. And Jaden looks, certainly last night, looked very much in control. - Yeah, that was my point. Caleb Williams, when you look at his interceptions last week against the Colts, they were late decisions, right? All of a sudden you get what you call happy feet. And for rookies especially, they don't know where coverage is going, where guys are sitting on balls. And that's what happened to Caleb Williams. Heat those late to the sideline guys are camped out. They're gonna make those picks. Jaden doesn't feel like anything is a hurry. The game has slowed down already. - All right, so again, at the risk of hyperbole, and you know, I'm always very cautious about that sort of thing. - Very. - Yeah. - Jaden Daniels is going to be a freakin' star. I hate this unbelievable last night. We're just, we didn't even get to Joe Burrow last night. But we will. The Bengals are in all kinds of trouble, we'll get to that. And then, what a night for Josh Allen. And you have to hear what he said after the game. Was he taking a not so subtle shot at a former teammate? We'll get to that. And this function in Big D after Derek Henry destroys them. Why can't the Cowboys stop the run? Is their season already done before it even begins? We're talking all that and more. Back on Get Up, we are brought to you by Tom's Gummy Bites. Get fast relief of occasional heartburn. Use as directed. All right, Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence were directed to play the early game last night. Allen had lost his first two starts against Trevor Lawrence. But Lawrence came in with a seven game losing streak and spoiler alert, it went to eight really quickly. Third and fourth. Oh, Nick, how about that throw? He's just effortless and dropping the ball exactly where he wants it off his back foot. That man's impressive. And then Jeff, watch him buying time in the red zone. To his right, to his right, I think Orlowski and Lewis would keep saying, don't let him go to his right. You let him go to the right. There's a dime in the back of the in zone. Make him go left. Look at Dalton Kincake. Look at him working to get an hour. He's got an hour. That's a 60 yard sprint in the back of the in zone. Makes the catch. And it's a 13. Nothing lead, headed to the second quarter. And then more of the same. This is third and 11. What's another thing you can't let Josh Allen do? How about run on touch? Yeah, I mean, especially if you're in the secondary, please slide, slide. Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. And then the very next play. How about this throw to the rookie, Kian Coleman? Oh yeah, Kian Coleman's an impressive rookie. But oh, off his back, which is right on target. That's Coleman's first career touchdown. Bills up 20 to 3. We're still in the second quarter. Jaguars trying to muster up some offense. Trevor Lawrence trying to get it going. And trying really badly. Look at this look. Demar Hamlin makes his first career interception. Yeah, that was incredibly inaccurate pass to an open receiver. It's six yards. He overthrew him by six yards. That's 18 feet, people. Not good. That's focused on the positive. Demar got a pick on Monday night now. I mean, I mean, well-- And I'm positive that was a terrible throw. We're still in the first half. This is the ensuing drive, 39. I want you to watch Kalisha Keir and watch the fancy moves he makes down by the goal line. So Keir is becoming one of my favorite players to watch with the ball and his fans. Look at this. Oh, yeah. Oh, that's impossible. The fans showing some love. Alan showing some love to Hamlin. Bills up 27-3. Oh, by the way, we're still in the first half. OK. Lawrence. You're up 27-3. You think you're going to get a blitz? Did somebody figure that one out? We're going to get a blitz on that one. 24 seconds left and a half. Alan, Ty Johnson. How do you say good night? How do you throw that? He runs into his left. Like, off balance, just perfect. Josh, Alan, the first player to throw four touchdowns and a half on Monday night since Ben Rothlessberger. Talk to me, Josh. Fun and wonderful thing when you've got a bunch of guys that don't care about the stats. They don't care about the touchdowns. And again, I think throughout practice, we've just had this mindset of, hey, let's just do things the right way and find ways to win football games. That's what we're doing right now. [MUSIC PLAYING] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, baby. The reporters-- the players are like, huh. The reporters are like, oh, yes, it's crazy. Come on, Graziano. He just chucked Stefan Diggs directly under a bus. What's beautiful about it is also maybe not, but maybe he wasn't even intending to. He's talking about how he's got this group around him that is different. It is, in constantly whining and complaining about how to mind that the ball enough and all-- I wonder where the game might be directed. It was almost like he accidentally shoved them under the bus, like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We used to have a guy like, look, I don't know, man. Like, we talked about this all-off season about Ken Josh, Alan, elevate this group. And the answer to this three games is clearly yes. If this continues, like MVP's in the bag, I mean, like, because that'll be the story, right? They lost Stefan Diggs, and he made it all work. There's a lot of other things that may end up in that bag, too, if this continues. They started out the first half of the Arizona game, the first game of the year, a little rough. Since then, they've been utterly dominant. And this has been incredibly impressive. The plays that Josh, Alan, is able to make is exactly what we talk about for all the other quarterbacks in the league, where it's like, there's a time when you're going to have to make at least one or two special plays. He makes four or five a game. He has been such a special player for the majority of his career, and this is just taking him to a different level. So when people are talking about MVP, the way he has played these first three games, he has dominated our league. And that's tough to do, especially, and I say this not in a disrespectful way. A lot of no-name receivers. This is not a group that you went in going, oh, he's going to light it up, right? Coleman, maybe. But all of a sudden, he's making Shakira looks lights out. Kincaid is killing it. Last night, he makes plays. It's just a-- and Cook's is getting underused, because he's on my fantasy board. Well, how'd that go for you, the fantasy league? Thanks a lot, this week, by the way. Did you win your match-up, or did you lose to somebody here at the desk? This seems personal. But here's what I will say quickly on that. And you know this better than anybody. Peyton Manning-- look, he had Reggie Wayne in Marvin Harrison at one point at two all-time grades. But he also-- the expression was, Peyton Manning put a lot of people's kids in private school. He came in. So when you're Josh Allen, you're elevating that. [LAUGHTER] Present. Here, we put the odds up on the screen. During the first half of last night's game, Josh Allen became the MVP favorite. These odds flipped. Pat, when the game kicked off, Patrick Mahomes was the favorite. And during the first half, Josh Allen became the favorite. And I would like to send those numbers directly to the 11 idiots/haters who said he was the most overrated player in the NFL. Josh Allen is, without question, the second best player in the NFL. You can't send those numbers, because those people did so anonymously. Correct. Which makes their opinions fairly irrelevant. Yeah. Well, now it makes their opinions hilarious, because he's proving everything that needs to be proved. And he's just getting better, right? He's just elevating. What's impressive as well is the offensive unit as a whole. Their offensive line has been dominant. The run game has been explosive. Brady has done-- he's done tremendous things with this football team offensively. And it has opened the lid for this team, and they are scary. It's offensive, coordinated, Joe Brady, that you're talking about. And then very quickly, I just need to look this up here. The Jaguar signed Trevor Lawrence to this huge contract. Oh. Oh, it was like a week ago. What are we-- oh, oh. Can I just say, Josh, I'm sorry, Trevor Lawrence's contract has $29 million in fully guaranteed money for the year 2027. Oh, wow. Like, that's three years from now. I mean, this-- look, how worried are we about this? He's not even 25 yet, right? It's 25th birthday's next month. So like, there is certainly room to grow, but he is going the wrong way, right? And I mean, he's been in some tough situations, but we've gotten away from the situation where we can fully blame Urban Meyer, or we can fully blame receivers. It's like a lot of issues there, but he shows these glimpses. And that's the tantalizing part about him. As you can watch just about any of his games and pick out 10 plays that make you think that he is among the best quarterbacks football. The problem is, in those games, there's always at least five that's like, who is this bomb? What do you do with Trevor Lawrence? The problem is there's more than 10 plays in the game. Yeah, that's fantastic. Inconsistency is crushing him. I'm going to take a little pressure. Their team leads the league. How many? How many? 108. 108 drops. He sends out-- Everybody sends out Trevor Lawrence to go. So everybody on this team is taking their turn with screwups. His airmail throws are brutal. All right, I've got a crepe for you, Jeffrey. We have a lot more to do on Trevor Lawrence. Let's get the crepe ready to go here. We take a short break as we continue. The D in Big D stands for dysfunction. What a mess we have in Dallas. Can they possibly get it cleaned up in time for Thursday and we'll get to that. And to make sure we have plenty of time. Let's get Jeff ready. We're the crepe to get us started. Let's get the appetite going. The lock crepe is served for the craft. What a day this dude said. By the way, Green Bay is so nasty. I wonder what you're taking. It's done, man, on the edge. Hey, coach, follow me right here as I lead block. I'll catch him and dump him. That is a thing of beauty. Look at him looking at him, too. Just hawking him down. What are you going to do, little man? Just stay in there and look. I just dominated that behind. That's what I'm talking about. Come back for some cakes. Just a minute. Ooh, cakes. Yummy. No, Joe Burrow led Joe Burrow down. Joe Burrow led the offense down. Joe Burrow led the team down. Great stats, great stat line. Oh, it's amazing. He's had all of these touchdowns, no interceptions. But what did you do when the game was in the balance? What did you do when the game was on the line? You know the answer is, it's not enough. You know how I know it's not enough? Because your team doesn't have a win and you're going in the week four. The damn Carolina Panthers got a win before the Cincinnati Bengals did. Let that sink in. - Yeah, no, I mean Burrow should have covered McLaurin better. That's true, yeah, I absolutely agree with that. - So it's just interesting because, look, Burrow is the star and to whom much is given, much is expected, our entire meeting this morning, where we talked about the Bengals, was exclusively focused on their defense, who allowed a rookie to go 21 of 23 against them last night. Is it reasonable to point a finger at the star Joe Burrow for the Bengals on 1-3 start? - He's going to get the criticism eventually. I think it's unfair to put it on him now, but I do think in Canty's defense, that is something that we do to these type of quarterbacks is, all right, you don't have a good defense, then you gotta go score for score. And he didn't go score for score. So if you wanna go critical on him for that reason, then maybe you can say it somewhat falls on Joe Burrow. But if you are going back to analyze this tape, and the first thing that you do as the coach is go and get Joe Burrow's face and say, "We need more out of you." (laughing) You're watching the wrong footage, if that's what you think. 'Cause their defense was awful, right? I mean, generally has been a real problem. - In the last 20 games, their defense, past defense, is dead last, dead last. So a rookie quarterback goes 21 of three. That's showing you why, and they can't stop the run. So now we're doing both and, and as much as I would like to say, I would wanna put it on Joe Burrow, giving up 38 points to a rookie. And again, how many third down conversions, how many fourth down conversions, when you have them backed up or behind, and you still can't close it out, is Burrow have some because of who he is? - Sure, yeah. - But I don't look at it that way. - The one team in this century that started on three and made the playoffs at 18 Houston, Texas, JJ Watts not walking through that door for Cincinnati Bengals, right? So like here's, their defense kinda got old, right? And they used a lot of high-end resources, draft picks money on offensive tackle, and wide receiver, and you know, build a group around Burrow, and they haven't sort of replaced the guys on defense, the move to, DJ reader, defensive tackle, was huge for them in stopping the run. And it got hurt late last year, and now is on the Detroit Lions, who by the way are very good at stopping the run now. They haven't really found the replacements for those guys on the back end, aren't they? When they were in the Super Bowl, like they were shutting down Patrick Mahomes in the second half of the game, they were winning games against Tennessee where he got sacked nine times, the defense was a huge part of that, and right now it is not. - I mean there's a quick question about this, but after the game, Burrow and Zack Taylor, the head coach, like sort of disappeared into a private room, just the two of them together, and Burrow said that that doesn't usually happen, but there's some stuff to talk about. Like it gets late early in the NFL these days, right? - Absolutely. - What do you make of that, just the fact that Burrow and the coach went off together, just the two of them to talk? - Hold this team together, don't let the situation be the Dallas Cowboys. That's what he's concerned about, right? Don't let it be the Dallas Cowboys, because you don't want that type of sideline blow up, the conversation's having, that's a quicker way to continue to spiral. - That is also a professional segue. Big D is up next stop, the Cowboys quickly saw how Derek Henry can go from free age in addition to absolute nightmare on Sunday, when he ran for 151 yards in two touchdowns, and the Cowboys got drubbed for the second time at home this year, and while many are once again questioning the Cowboys off-season contract decisions, yesterday sitting right here, Rex Ryan was fired up about that defense. - I think a lot of it has to do with coaching. - Tell me. - Because you're sitting back on one, what the hell? Where's your adjustments? You had all week, and you're surprised that Derek Henry's gonna run the ball down your throat with heavy personnel groupings. So to me, it's like, if we're gonna stop something, we're just damn sure stopping a run. Make him throw for 500 yards, I could care less, but you're taking an ass-whippin' back-to-back weeks when you know what this team is built for. Like, come on, Zimmer, you're way better coach than this crap. - So Rex has fired up yesterday, and there's a couple of ways to look at things. When unexpected things are your problem, that's life, right? Like, oh, I didn't see that coming. When exactly what you knew the problem was gonna be is the problem, then I think you start pointing fingers of blame. Like, we knew the Cowboys couldn't stop the run. The Packers ran through them like Swiss cheese in that playoff game last year, and it's only gotten worse this year. So I put together some tape for you guys to look at. Jeff, I'll start with you as an offensive lineman. I mean, what are we seeing in this Cowboys run defense? - Yeah, so look, you're big. You know they're coming downhill, right? There's no surprise on what's happening. Look at the body movement. I mean, look at the center and the front. They are four yards from the line of scrimmage. Stanley's got the guy turned out the first touch. - No, that's just merciless. I mean, that's just embarrassing. But he's not touched until the second level, third level, however you want to frame that. Too many bodies are getting moved. He's got two ways to go, y'all. He's not even slowing down. He's behind his pads when he hits the line of scrimmage. I don't care what defensive back that you got. That's a no win. It's funny 'cause it looks like a passing pocket. Like there's a pocket, but it's four yards on the other line of scrimmage. And in Mike Zimmer's defense, there were adjustments made. Like they were doing slants with the D line, things that I haven't seen them do before. They were loading the box. They were still just getting pushed around. And I don't know what the scheme is to make your guys drop their weight and hold the point. They can't do it. They can't do it. - Let me say this too. There are entirely too many plays where you watch the Cowboys, where they do what you call an O-lay. So it's a quick swim, but they're going behind the play and then trying to flatten to get down. So they are basically giving up a gap to try to get through really fast, get skinny and then get back to the gap. - I think so. You understand what that means. If they're running a zone this way and Jeff's the O-lineman, I'm the D-lineman. My gap is on this side. I need to get to that gap. Jeff beats me to that gap. Rather than fighting over and trying to shut that hole, he's gonna try to use my quickness to get behind him. And all that does is make for a bigger gap. - It's like you're trying to cheat, you're trying to cheat. - There's a saying. You're either coaching it or allowing it. There are zimmers allowing too much of that. It's too much freelance type football that's being allowed on that front that creates problems for the backfield. - But how much of it is a personnel problem? Like they don't have those big strong bodies up front like you need to stop the run. So like they have to try and compensate, right? - Well, you gotta grab grabs. You gotta go to the hard one. - Or on the edge because like when we're talking about trying to win to your gap, if they set an edge, your gap doesn't move. The edge is moving, so the gap keeps moving. And then the lineman like, "Oh, guess I gotta go back door." So maybe he asked leadingly. This is what Micah Parsons meant when he was talking after the game about how he has everyone's trying to be Superman and it hurts when everyone's effort isn't the same and all that kind of stuff. What do you think of Micah Parsons comments? - I'm over it. I'm over it already. Like literally, come on, man. I mean, do it in-house. Like go have that conversation with your defensive tackles if you really feel that way. But I will tell you, you go watch that tape. He didn't just lock 'em down, okay? Like Lamar Jackson gave him the business as well. It's really difficult to act like it's a couple guys. It's all 11 guys and they all have to play in concert if they wanna stop the run game. And so I have an issue when it's always go back to, well, this guy's not doing that guy because if you watch Lamar Jackson, he had some polls where you're watching Micah Parsons. He's got him dead to right. Still made that play. Still got that first down, still broke a tackle, still did those things. I just, I get tired of hearing guys go at their own guys in the press as opposed to- - I think the point that he's making is right, is what he's fundamentally saying is we don't need anybody to be special. Trying to go back during the block, you're trying to be Superman. We need everyone to do their job. - But to the point, I don't mean to interrupt you. - No, you're fine. - But when we played that sound bite, the Superman sound bite yesterday, Dee Wood said, "You haven't watched the film yet." - Right. - He said that he's five minutes after the top point. - That's my point, sure. - So like he hasn't sat back, watched what you guys are watching now, broken down the film, seen where all the breakdowns were. He's just said that real time. - He's talking about himself, if that's what he's saying real time. - Or last week. - Yeah, or he could be talking about it last week, but he could be talking about himself. And to just point, he got caught in a couple situations where it appeared that the zone read Lamar was his responsibility and he was getting nosy. - Yes. - Somebody again trying to be Superman. - That's right. - They're gonna have a hard time Thursday night here against the Giants? - They're not. (laughing) - There's antibiotics coming through. - That's a good one. - That's a good right camp? - Yeah. - We'll find out. - Get right. - College football Friday night on ESPN in the app. Hey, do you like a great quarterback play? Miami's quarterback came where he could, he is going to be a first round pick. He could climb higher than that. Watch him Friday night, 730 Eastern time against Virginia Tech. Don't forget, we also have Georgia Alabama coming up this weekend. Meanwhile, coming up here. Saquan saves the Eagles, but their head coach still feeling funky about his fourth down decision making. Is he getting too much heat? He talks about it and so will we as we continue. And then do not miss it. Jeff is cooking up the pancakes this morning, a week three edition of "Sat 'em Down" is coming up and it's everybody's favorite time of the day. It is sneaking him over versus Graziano. So we're talking Eagles in the history of that franchise and it goes all the way back. Who has the most games with 100 yards from scrimmage in any season? Saquan already has three. The answer is next. (upbeat music) Think about the last time you had a canceled subscription. So, Saquan Barkley has three games already in his three-game career in Philadelphia with 100 yards from scrimmage. Which Eagle have the most 100 yards from scrimmage games in any season in that franchise history? - Yeah, I mean, I gotta guess. Like, I don't know this. I don't know why. I would know this. The first name I popped in my head was Wacham McCoy, and then I thought Brian Westbrook, and I feel like it's gotta be one of those two guys, so I'm gonna guess Brian Westbrook. So Westbrook has the second and third most, and Saquan McCoy is fourth. The answer is much older than that. It's Wilburk Montgomery. If you go all the way back to the-- - Yeah, I know. We hate the question. - When he goes to the black and white-- - Yeah, we're very down on the question. Nick has a problem with the question. - The man is desperate. - Nick, you have a problem with the question. - I do have a problem with the question. - Because it is from a long time ago, since you still get down on him. - Yeah, go ahead. - We don't even have him, anyway. - And by the way, our scoreboard is not working because it has been sabotaged by him, but I was told it was technical issues. There's no question. - It's a lot to a little. - That's correct, he is way ahead. We are speaking of the Eagles, however, and so let's do exactly that. It has been a wild first three games in Philly this year. The good has been Barkley. He's been everything in more for Philly, gaining 115 yards from scrimmage, and each of three games, his nine runs of 10 yards or more are tied for the most in the league. The offense has been able to move the ball, but turnovers are a key issue. Jaylen Hertz has six of them this year, which is tied with Anthony Richardson for second most in the league, in front of only Will Levis, which is saying something. And then the fourth down has been a huge point of contention this year, particularly with Nick Sirianni. They, of course, kicked on fourth down late in week two, turning it over on downs twice against the Saints. Here was Sirianni yesterday talking about his fourth down decision-making. - Every time we go for it on fourth down or set ourselves up to go for it on fourth down, I'm doing what I think is best for the football team at that particular time. I'm not gonna get into, I know I tried to share with you guys as much as I could last week. I don't think I'm not gonna make that a weekly habit of explaining that to you guys. Friends, Romans, Philadelphians, I come to praise Nick Sirianni, not to bury him. He needs to stop talking. He does not say words well. And as unfortunately, his communication, he's not getting across what he's trying to get, what he's saying is right. I'm not gonna explain to you, every freaking time I make a decision, I'm doing it 'cause I think it's the best thing for the team and that should be obvious. You know what, the reality is, and you were there. He coached his behind-off this week. That was a team that we thought was gonna splinter and had gonna throw him under the bus and quit on the coach and they played huge for him this week. They did, and look, I was being asked 'cause I was covering that game on Friday's show, on Sunday morning like, you know, is there a problem in the locker room? No, like they were together, they were fired up. I was talking to some of the coaches before the game, the defensive line coach. And they had a look at his eye at the end of our conversation. He said, "Our guys got the message, "they're gonna be ready, you'll see." And those guys up front dominated that game against the team that was the hottest offense in the league coming in. Eagles, they're not without their issues. Like every other team in the league, they did not score until the fourth quarter. Like there is stuff to work, and Siriani is doing a terrible job on fourth down right now. Like every single one of them is wrong. But they were tough, they hung in, and they made the plays they needed to play. And those, I mean, the Saints offense a week ago was the talk of the league, and they shut them down. Yeah, I loved what Nick Siriani did in the press conference prior. I mean, contrary to what you were saying is, I was very hard on him the week before because it seemed clear that he was passing the buck. And whether it's your responsibility, or your decision or not, part of your responsibility as a head coach. And he did do that. And some of the other comments he made this week, that's on me. It's my fault, my job to get these things right. So it does seem like he is doing the harder parts about coaching. He's doing those kind of well. The easy part is, look at your sheet. I'm gonna tell you what to do on fourth down in this whole year, man. In the microphones, somebody's got a computer. Someone can look at you, Google it, and then make those decisions. Those are, the optimal decisions are clear. That's the point, right? They're like, we judge these coaches based on the parts of the job that we get to see, right? We don't watch them work on Wednesday and Thursday and Friday and Saturday. And obviously, the coaches for the Eagles did some work. Look, the bottom line of it is this, Jeff. Last year, when things started to go downhill, they snowballed, they completely fell apart. That could have happened. We speculated that after the Monday night disaster that that could happen. So, I mean, you've got to give credit where it's due. The opposite happened. They rose up, they played tough. Their defense played tough to Dan's point against an offense that was destroying the league. I think you got, if you're gonna blame Siriano when things go one way, you got to give him the credit when it goes the other way. - I didn't blame him last week. I was in defense of him last week. I'll be in defense of it. He gets, he takes, listen, he is taking a beating with it. And people are complaining about how they beat the Saints. They go down, are you serious? That is a tough place to play against the hottest offense in the league at the moment. And they come out with a victory. If Saequam Barkley catches a pass that hits him in the hands, we're not, I mean, Nick Sari, you're talking about coach of the year. It's such a fast fall in our game. And it's just, it's a little bit ridiculous. I get, he doesn't do great in press conferences. But at the end of the day, his team is playing hard and they're winning games. They've played three good teams. They played Green Bay, they played Atlanta, they played New Orleans. And if Saequam catches a ball that he catches 99 out of 100 times, they're three and all. - Yeah, you're right. But let's not get carried away. How about coach of the year and all this foolishness? The decision that he made in his Saints game gave them a suboptable chance of winning. The same thing was true in the Atlanta game. These are facts. So he's great during the week. Raw, raw, all up, get him together. But then when it's time to make a smart guy choice, how loud a smart guy. - That's right. Now we all know the coach of the year is Aaron Rodgers anyway. - Okay, pancakes. Let's go. - Let's go. - I'm up high. - What? - Cakes is one of our favorite games. - So let me show you how we're gonna get this thing done. - All right. - We're back, baby. - Bam, bam, bam. - We're about to break this up. - Let's go. - That's how we start this up. - Get some of this. - It's a thing of beauty. - Turned off a fight. - We kicked off a fight. - I believe Fox World just sprained cake. - Cakes don't give up. - We did it. - Can we do one more pitch? - Ah! - Ah! - It's my favorite time of the week. Sat 'em down is brought to you by IHOP. And pancakes are ready. Neek is serving 'em up hot. - Here. - Whoo-hoo! - Let's go! - Hey, crank it up while the panthers are-- - Whoa! - Robert Hunt out dispensing justice on the edge. Watch this play right here for the panthers. Number 50 coming at you. - Oh! - Get some of that, my man. Trying to run over the top, trying to do the right thing? No, no. Catch 'em and dump 'em. That's a big man with a lot of speed. Look at him just catch 'em up and dump 'em. I like it. He was looking for more hunting for more. Again, to follow that name track. You gotta love what he did. Carolina panthers give you the first victory for guys like that. Still get some, receive it, my little man 41. Don't like it. - Let's do a two pancakes, tucker crab. - We showed 'em on the crate. Watch him chase this down and run. Catch 'em, the finish on this play is so pretty that you get a guy going around. Look, a boy's one, gets downhill, catches you in the chest and it dumps you on the ground. Look at that right there. That's the thing of beauty. That's two pancakes. Couldn't be able to hold 'em cold slightly, but I like where we are, we're getting two pancakes. - Behind 'em. - Three, we're going, Alec Anderson. Hey, watch this play right here. As you go find somebody, go get 'em, go find 'em, go protect your QB, get one, get him on the side. There's a saying in the NFL. Keep your head on a swivel, 91, learn this. When you see a quarterback going on the edge, you see 'em off into London, we are gonna protect that man at all costs. Getting one right there, knocking 'em down in three, arms dead hitting the ground. Three pancakes. Jeff, I am being told you have a bonus pancake this way. - We have a bonus, this is gonna be a lot of fun. Listen, we're doing a little mascot ball. I want you to watch the mascots. They might've gotten a little cheetah. Are we serious right now? And then watch the stiff arm coming late too. No, that is abuse. Somebody needs to do jail time right here. The third, look at this, the peel block. We've outlawed that block in the NFL and mascots are doing it. That is absurd. We have to highlight it, but that is as dirty as it gets. - Did you sign a little bat? Are you serious? - I'll be, another look. We started, we started at all levels. We started at the whole line, some one. Now we're gonna come around number two, we're gonna get some right here, receive it. That's it there, Henry. And then the peel block, it's illegal. Wagon, oh my word. That's the thing of beauty though. Let's be honest, I mean if we're gonna play on that's it. - Literally the most ridiculous thing we've ever shown. - It's unbelievable, it's unbelievable. Somebody's just want to play all right here. I'm just like. - Banana, we've got a blast on. - You think you can do anything? - It's a small shot. What are we doing? - Can I teach you, come on. - Teach you, come on. - My kid, I'm fighting all the mascots. - Oh, okay. - Oh, look who's here? Marcus Spears has made his way. (screaming) - Whoa. (screaming) (laughing) - Why are you doing this here? (laughing) - A star is gonna go. - Shane Daniels, what are you doing? - A star is gonna go. - Shane Daniels with respect to angle up performance. These tails are next. - Ooh, we killed him, we didn't get the k-- Okay, there's nothing. - Give the case off the ground. - Get the case off the ground. - Get off the ground. - Oh, I didn't know you were coming. - Oh, good to see you, all right. - Delicious, meat nutritious.
