The Social Contract with Joe Walsh

All Trump & Vance Want to do is Divide Us.

Everything they say, everything they do is about dividing the American people. Maybe this will work again. But I hope not. I hope there are more Americans who don't want this country to be so dangerously divided.

(upbeat music) America, we gotta get back to doing what's expected of us as free citizens in this democracy. That means being tolerant, being respectful, staying informed and being engaged. I'm former Congressman Joe Walsh. Follow me here and join the millions of Americans who are renewing their social contract with each other. The social contract, it's on us. (upbeat music) - Hey, I've been saying this for a while and I'm gonna keep saying it. Trump and Vance are all about dividing us. They're trying to win this campaign by dividing us, by pitting Americans against each other. Policy differences aside, Harris and Walls are all about trying to unite us. I'm not gonna focus on Harrison Walls right now. I'm gonna focus on Trump and Vance and what they are doing to try to win this election is to divide this country. It is like they do want this country divided. Question is why? Why? Do they not wanna keep this thing together? This 248-year-old experiment in democracy do Trump and Vance wanna break this thing up? I'm not gonna stop shouting about this. But last night, the same thing happened last night. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was moderating a Trump town hall in Michigan. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, former, oops, I almost knocked over my computer. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former Trump's former press secretary, now she's the governor of Arkansas. She was moderating Trump's town hall in Michigan last night and during her opening remarks, and I'm gonna play him in a second. She took a shot at. She insulted every woman in this country who has not had children. And by the way, as you're lining up Trump supporters, I'm gonna have a really basic question today. Why? Why do it? If you're trying to win the election, why are you taking shots at? Why are you insulting? Why are you demeaning women who haven't had kids? Why would you do that if you're trying to win? I mean, just think about that. If you think women who haven't had children are weird, bizarre, not normal, whatever your crazy belief might be fine, but if you want Trump and Vance to win, why would you go out of your way to purposely alienate a group of people, childless women, women who are voters who haven't had kids? Why would you do that politically if you want to win? Here's Sarah Huckabee Sanders last night who by all indications is a great mother has a bunch of kids taking a shot at Kamala Harris. Keith, give it to me. - Pat's my shoulder and says, it's okay, mommy. One day you can be pretty, too. (audience laughs) So my kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble. - For everybody on TikTok listening right now who may not have heard that clip, thank you, Keith, everybody else heard it. What Sarah Huckabee Sanders said last night in Michigan was she told a cute story about her kids and she said the following, word for word. So my kids keep me humble. Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble. Now I'll add she purposely mispronounced Kamala Harris' name. What an ugly thing to do. Like I'm not gonna ask, oh, why, why, why would she do that? Why would she purposely mispronounce Kamala Harris' name? It's what they do, it's what Trump does, it's what Vance does. It's what most of the Maga voices do. It's, they think it's cute or funny or whatever or they're trying to make Kamala Harris out to sound like something strange, right? Whatever, it's an ugly thing to do. It's a nasty thing to do. It's a cruel thing to do, but cruel sells too much on the right these days. But let's get back to our point. Why would she say that? Why would she say Kamala Harris because Kamala Harris hasn't had kids doesn't have anything keeping her humble? Why, it's not CNN and it's not MSNBC, everybody. That was Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a Trump supporter, a Trump surrogate, heck, the governor of Arkansas. Why would she say that? And by the way, Keith, as I go through this because my vision's not great right now, that's not your fault, that's mine. If you, I'm gonna ask everybody listening just a basic question, politically, why would you do that? Politically, was that a smart thing to do? You have a bunch of women in this country who are voting, who haven't had kids, who can't have kids, who chose not to have kids. Why would you piss them off? Why would you go after them? Why would you personally alienate them if you're trying to win? Somebody answer that question for me. And even if you agree with Sarah Huckabee Sanders, again, that childless women in this country are somehow not human, if you think that way, like maybe J.D. Vance clearly thinks that way. Sarah Huckabee Sanders must think that way. If you think that way, way, politically, if you want Trump to win, why would you piss off a whole big old group of voters? And I get, I mean, I have kids. Roan and old now. Kids, man, kids do keep you on your toes. Kids do keep you humble. I get all of that. And every man and woman listening to me right now understands that, so I've got no problem with Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying last night in Michigan, her kids keep her humble. I can relate, but why didn't she stop there? Why did she have to take a shot at Kamala Harris? And say, in essence, and by the way, this is why it's a shot at every woman in this country who hasn't had kids. It's not just a shot at Kamala Harris, who has not had kids. It's a shot at every female voter out there who hasn't had kids. So my kids keep me humble, she said, Kamala Harris doesn't have anything keeping her humble. The clear thinking there, the thing she's saying there is, unlike Kamala Harris, who hasn't had kids. She ain't humble. She ain't heavy. She's my brother. She ain't humble. Kamala Harris ain't humble. Every woman out there who hasn't had kids, you ain't humble. You are like pretentious. That's what Sarah Huckabee Sanders is saying. Every woman out there like Kamala Harris who hasn't had kids is arrogant. You be arrogant. You are pretentious. (breathing) What a dishonest thing to say. What an ugly thing to say. What a hateful thing to say. What a hateful thing to say. From David Hall, if a woman is not having kids for the future, then what good are they? (breathing) David, you need help. You need help. And I mean this sincerely, I pray for your wife or whatever woman you might be involved with. I mean that and I will. You need help. What an ugly, shitty, sexist, misogynistic. What a shit thing to say, David. Whoo! But start there. The hate. What a hateful thing to say. If you're a woman and you haven't had kids, you can never be humble. What's the opposite of humble? You're arrogant. Any woman who hasn't had kids, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump surrogate said last night, any woman who has not had kids is arrogant and pretentious. That's wrong. And I think everybody listening to me right now knows women who haven't had kids, who chose not to have kids, who couldn't have kids, who are wonderful, great, decent, humble people. I know you know people like that. I know people like that. Joe, from Mark, my wife and I did not have children until we were 30. We were eligible to vote. There are many people like me. God bless you, Mark. I think that's great. And I did not have children. I'm glad you have children. And Mark, I hope you agree with me. What is shitty thing to say? You've got groups of voters. And again, I'll go back to this, my Trump supporters, my friends and my supporters. You're trying to win an election. You're Donald Trump. You've got lots of people in America. Oh man, this is such a diverse country. You got all kinds of guys, children in America. You got white, black, brown. You got gay, straight, transgender. You got Christian Jew, Muslim, non-believing. You got all kinds of people in America, voters in America. You've got women who've had kids and you've got women who haven't had kids. Man, if I'm running for president and I'm trying to win an election, I'm trying to appeal to as many of these folks as I can appeal to. I certainly am not going out of my way to purposely piss off an entire group of people. I mean, JD Vance, it's clear JD Vance 'cause in everything he's said and written, he thinks childless women are like the worst. Child, what do you call them? Cat loving childless women. He thinks they're the worst. Here's another Trumper, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who thinks women who haven't had kids can't even be humble, are not capable of being humble. I've just a couple points and then again, just to the political, it's ugly and cruel. It's mean. That's just pure, that's pure raw. Hate. What Sarah Huckabee Sanders said last night in Michigan was hate. That was hate. You want to take a shot at Kamala Harris? Do it. Take a shot at her on this policy or that, whatever. You take a shot at her 'cause she hasn't had children? That's hate, man. That's hate. Now I will say to you, and I'm seeing it, I'm seeing it among Dwayne and plenty of people on my right here, the hate sells, sadly, unfortunately, to too many voters on the right, the hate works, the hate and the cruelty sells. I've said this a million times before. I come from the right. I am still of the right. I used to be in right wing talk. I used to do some of this more than I'm proud of, and I've apologized for a whole bunch of it, but the hate and the cruelty sells. Trump and Vance and Sarah Huckabee Sanders know that. Politically, if you want Trump to win, this hurts. Politically, this was a stupid thing to do. Trump supporters, there are more people in America who are offended by what Sarah Huckabee Sanders said last night than there are people who support what she said. She said women who haven't had children are arrogant and cannot and are not humble. Let me just say news flash, news flash, there are more American voters who vehemently disagree with that, thank God, then there are American voters who agree with it. So my MAGA brothers and sisters, if you're trying to help Trump win, if you want Trump to win, that doesn't help. In fact, that hurts. So applaud it all you want. ♪ Fucking a Yemen show, that's great ♪ - Like I've had a few people contact me. Some woman said to me this morning, white childless women are the enemy in America. White childless women are the enemy in America. I had that note shot to me this morning. I'm assuming she believes that. If she believes that, America, you're free to have your opinion, but there are more people in America who don't believe that. So this kind of shit, this kind of hate, this kind of cruelty is why Donald Trump will lose. You can thump your chest, MAGA, MAGA. My MAGA brothers and sisters, and applaud this until the cows come home. You can go ahead and laugh at this. That's great, yo man, I love it. This is why Trump will lose. This kind of hate, this kind of cruelty. I was on a radio interview, and I was on a press conference earlier this morning, a press conference for Republicans for Harris, Kamala Harris in North Carolina. And again, policy differences aside, it's clear in everything they're saying and doing that Trump and Vance are trying to divide us. You don't say something like this unless you purposely wanna divide the American people. Pit, pit, some of us against the others. Pit certain groups of people against other groups of people. You don't say this shit unless that's what you're trying to do. JD Vance doesn't spend every day going after cat-loving childless women, as he says, unless he's purposely trying to divide us. The Trump campaign, and he's always been this way, has always been about hate and division. I don't think, I hope, that most Americans don't want the picture of and the voice of hate and division back in the White House. I could be wrong, the race is real close right now. But that's a clear dividing line between these two campaigns. Go after Kamala Harris, all you want on policies, Kamala Harris isn't trying to divide this country. In fact, Kamala Harris is trying to unite the country. It's mainly the case. Kamala Harris is trying to unite the country. Made very clear, she's made it very clear. I will be president for everyone. Donald Trump's never said that. I will speak with and listen to everyone, she said. Kamala Harris said, "I'll put a Republican in my cabinet." Kamala Harris is about bringing Americans together. Trump and Vance are about dividing us. That may light your fire. But I think there are more Americans who don't want that. But again, the final point, and nobody can answer this, all I get is Joe, you're a moron, Joe, you're a jackass, Joe, you're a traitor. God love you, my brothers and sisters, Maga. None of you can get me a reason why if you're trying to win a general election why you would say this. Why you would say this if you're trying to win a general election. I'll keep the comments open. If you've got a good one, if you've got someone who can answer that question, a Trump supporter who says, "Hey, Joe, politically, this is why it makes sense." Here's why it makes sense to freaking go after and insult women in this country who are voting who have had kids. Here, Joe, listen up. This is why politically it'll work. I want to hear that. I want to see that. I don't think I can. I don't think I will. Expressing your love can look many different ways. And with the right jewelry gift from Blue Nile, it can truly sparkle. And Keith, if you can post, oh, it's the no compromise, no conversation reply. If you can post that, I won't post the guy's name. I'll keep that anonymous. There it is. Thank you. Keith, there it is. This is what I got in response this morning, late last night. After Trump wins in November, there will be no compromise with Democrats. There will be no conversation. There won't even be a conversation, he said. You're finished. This is coming, leave it up for a minute, Keith. This is coming from a Trump supporter who didn't like what I posted about the election. I don't even remember what I posted. Doesn't matter. I wanna focus on his response. After Trump wins, Joe, there ain't gonna be any compromise with Democrats and there ain't gonna be any conversation with them. You're done, you're finished. And then another guy, keep that up, Keith. Another guy sent me a similar message. That's okay, take it down. Sent me a similar message and said, "Joe, you're the enemy." That's all right, Keith, thank you. Do you look guys, do no matter where you are politically, do you feel that way? Like if your candidate wins in November, fuck it. There'll be zero compromise with the other side. There will be zero conversation with the other side. As far as I'm concerned, the other side's done. No matter who you are politically, is that how you feel? Is that how you feel? Trump supporters, if Trump wins, do you wanna give a middle finger to the other half of the country? I'm asking this genuinely. If Trump wins, Trump supporters, do you want nothing to do with the other half of this country? No conversation, he said. Gosh, I hope not. You talk about what I talk about all the time, how dangerously divided we are. And I'll put the same question in front of my Democratic listeners. Kamala Harris wins. Are you gonna give a middle finger to the other half of the country? Do you want nothing to do with Trump supporters? Do you want no conversation with people who voted for Trump if Harris wins? They're done, they're dead to you? If this is how most Americans feel, again, we're in a lot of trouble. And I hope that right now, as you're listening to me, you can put down your Trump musket or your Harris musket and just kind of hold my hand and agree with me here. After this election, no matter who wins, if the winning side does not want to even have a conversation with the other side, if the winning side in essence wants nothing to do with the losing side, I hope you see, I hope you understand, I hope you get how this country can't stand if that's the case. Somebody's gonna win in November. I'm not expecting kumbaya. I'm not expecting we're all gonna hold hands. But unless you want us just to break up, we've got to speak to each other. We've got to have conversation. You can't get anything passed, by the way, in Washington, without some compromise. I was the Tea Party hell-raiser man in 2010 when I went to D.C. I didn't want to frickin' work with the Democrats. I was the no-compromised guy. Hell no, shut the government down, cut spending. I don't want to work with these people. We're bankrupting future generations. I was that guy. I didn't get anything done. If Trump wins, he can't get anything done without compromising with Democrats. If Harris wins, she can't get anything done without compromising with Republicans. But that's the political class I'm talking about us. Our democracy won't stand if we, who disagree, want nothing to do with each other. I'm going to say that again because I dug the way that sounded. Our democracy will not stand if we want nothing to do with the people we disagree with. If we want no conversation with the people we disagree with. By the way, this is why social contract with Joe Walsh. I used to be a divisive political asshole. I stopped. I didn't want to do that anymore. It was making things worse and I didn't like myself and I didn't like how I helped to divide this country. But I'm on a mission with social contract with Joe Walsh to try to do something about that divide. I go after Trump. You'll notice with everything I've got. But I do not and will not go after Trump supporters. I used to be a Trump supporter. We've got to learn how to be tolerant, respectful, stay informed and be engaged. We're in this thing together, unless you don't want to be in this thing together. And clearly, that guy who sent me that comment last night does not want to be in this thing together. I'm hoping and I'm believing there are still more Americans who want to keep this thing together. Every week I have a podcast conversation with someone who disagrees with me about something. And we model how to have that conversation. Not changing your beliefs. I'm still passionate about gun rights. I'm passionate about a secure border. I'm passionate about keeping taxes low. But I have conversations with people who disagree with me. Because we got to learn how to talk to people, listen to people who disagree with us if we want to keep this thing going. Final point today. Israel, you rock. Israel, you are awesome. How about it? Pagers. Pagers. Who to thunk it? I didn't know. I didn't even know people still use pagers. And probably the most brilliant and most brilliant people. Broad attack against terrorists. Israel figured out a way to put exploding devices and detonators into thousands and thousands of pagers that Hezbollah terrorists used. They figured out how to put them in months ago and yesterday these pagers all at the same time are like damn good. But what's amazing, and you got to read about it. If you haven't looked at this or read about this yet, man, it is amazing. Israel just fucking locks. They kick ass. Don't mess with Israel. Here's my big takeaway though. Something like four or five thousand pagers yesterday in Lebanon all exploded at the same time. These Hezbollah terrorists were wearing these pagers on their belt buckle. And these Hezbollah terrorists embed themselves into civilian populations. The entire world owes Israel a humongous thanks. They found a way to target terrorists bad people who embed themselves in civilian populations. And by putting explosive devices and detonators in these pagers, they found a way to kill and hurt terrorists embedded in civilian populations without harming civilians. Man, that's amazing. The UN sucks, but the UN ought to thank Israel. The whole world ought to thank Israel for doing what they did yesterday. I'm Israel Kai. God bless the state of Israel. When I enlist in the Army, I swore an oath to this country, not any political party. That's why I'm interested in citizens' ballot measures around the country to reduce the power of political parties. Colorado votes on 1-2. Right now, election rules allow political insiders to hand-pick party nominees. It's the reason we're usually stuck voting for the lesser of two evils. Colorado's plan creates an open primary where all candidates appear on one primary ballot. Every voter has the freedom to vote for any candidate, no matter which party. The Colorado plan advances four candidates to the general election, not two. That means more choices for voters in the primary and general election. Get the facts. Elections belong to the voters, not political parties. Paid for by veterans for all voters, Anthony Haas registered agent.
