(upbeat music) - Today is Thursday, September 19th, and this is Cokesbury's Daily Reading Plan. Our scripture is Ephesians 1, 12 through 14. God's purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring peace and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the good news that God cites you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we could praise and glorify him. Let's apply it. Paul is telling us again that God's grace is for everyone. Jesus came for all people, not just one group. The Ephesians were some of the first Christians and Paul wanted them to know that God's love through the Holy Spirit is guaranteed. But also the Holy Spirit has an ultimate goal in each of our lives, God's glory. We are called to praise and glorify him. - Thank you for joining us for the Daily Bible Reading Podcast.
