We're speaking with the former mayor of the city of Bailey, Melody Bandcamp, who is seeking office as a city council person. And we're going to spend a few minutes with her, as we will. All of the opposed candidates and races. And let's start off, Melody, by talking about why in the world are you doing this again? Thank you for having me. Well, I have noticed there's an awful lot of complaining, whining, and bitching with our citizens of Italy. But nobody seems to take the time and the interest of serving in city government. And I was appalled to find that people weren't lining up to file, and also having a couple of our candidates were running unopposed. So I decided to throw in my hat and try it yet again. Do you think that it says something that people are just willing to complain and not willing to actually, you know, do something? Well, I think what people need to do is you need to run for office, get elected, and sit on any of the boards and the council, even the commission, and see what it's really like to be in government. And we just-- we need to turn people's heads around and get a little bit more involvement instead of so much negativity and complaining. And you know, I can't disagree with that at all. What was it that made you decide? I mean, you know, qualifications, I would think being a former mayor would give you kind of an idea of the qualifications for this. Well, over the last couple of years, I have attended many public meetings that do involve issues with the county and with the city. And once I filed, I have been attending all the city meetings, so I am abreast of what's going on within the city. And the best thing I can say that I can do is I will look at both sides and analyze the issues, talk to people, and try to make the best informed decision on issues with the city that I can. That's really all we can ask. This is something that takes a lot of time to do. I think once upon a time, you said that when you were mayor, you were working for like 17 cents an hour. Too many, a lot, a lot of long weeks. Are you going to be able to do it again? Well, I did it before when I was with the city before. In five and a half years, I only missed two and a half council meetings, one to a funeral, and I was out of town on city business on the other. But I am self-employed. I have my own business. I only work four days a week. And I wouldn't take on a job if I couldn't do the best that I can possibly do and have the time. And I'm willing to devote any spare time that I have and all that my time to see this through. If people want to talk with you more about the issues, can they stop by and say hi? You bet. Most people know where I absolutely live and work. And that's at my shop, but I'm free to answer questions that anybody asked of me. And if you know where the new DMV offices here in Ealy, she's right down the corner, so crazy. And which some days Melanie thinks she is so crazy. That's true. Melody Bandcamp, former mayor of the city of Ealy, who is running for a city council. And she would certainly appreciate your vote. Thank you very much. Thank you. What's next at Moss Adams?
