The V8 Sleuth Podcast

V8SP: Greg Crick (Part 1)

We’re talking to Greg Crick on this week’s episode of the V8 Sleuth Podcast. In the first part of a three-part chat, Cricky talks about growing up just over a mile from the Longford road circuit in Tasmania, watching the F1 heroes of the day and deciding to go racing himself. He also talks about some of the wild machines he raced early in his career, from his first FJ Holden and a turbocharged XU-1 Torana, through to a speedway-inspired Mazda RX-7 sports sedan and his iconic Australian title-winning Honda Prelude. He also shares some hilarious stories (including the time he was ‘arrested’ by Victoria Police’s Armed Robbery Squad during Sandown 500 practice!) and his first time racing in the Bathurst 1000. He also explains his decision to turn his attention to touring car racing, plus becoming teammates with Sir Jack Brabham in winning the inaugural Targa Tasmania.
