Go to fivehourenergy.com today. And the Florida Gators released their depth chart for the first time this season. One notable thing, not nearly as it feels like there's way less oars on the depth chart than usual. Only three on offense in general and only one at starting spots on offense. So less oars than usual in week one. But notably, Montrell Johnson is back for the Florida Gators. And I will say this, Billy Napier said, Hey, if he's listed at the top of the depth chart, he's because he's playing, okay. I'm going to remain skeptical here until I see him on the field. I've said, you know, if I'm Florida, I'm lying about his availability. And I'm saying, Yep, he's going to be out there just so Miami has to prepare for them. If he is out there, I'm curious at basically what percent he's moving at. And I'm curious his usage rate. I mean, he's one of the bigger backs on the roster. He is the most experienced back on the roster. He's your best past blocking back on the roster. He's your best back on the roster. However, he's also three, four weeks removed from a new scope. So I'm curious how Montrell Johnson is moving, how much he's going to play. Is he relegated essentially to passing down situations where his past blocking is more valuable? I'm just curious there, Trey on web curious, I want to know what the running back rotation will look like when all these guys are healthy, but also right now where you can't lean on Montrell, even if he's playing, I refuse to believe that he's 100% that he's just going to be able to take every hit and do everything that he's going to be asked to do. So what will the rotation look like when Montrell Johnson is not at 100%? Are we going to see Trey on take on early downs? Are we going to see one of the more guys that are thought of as powerbacks take on the early downs, whether that's to Kobe Jackson or Jaden Ball? I'm just curious to see how that all works out. We've heard Trey on web has apparently become a reliable pass blocker. We'll see what that looks like when you're playing against other teams. I'm sure he can look like a good pass blocker when he was going up against Mario Wilson, so I'll see it in game and then make my decision. But another big thing was the offensive line. The left side expected, even I mean now left tackle of the right guard is what we expected. Austin Barber at left tackle, Devin Manuel backing him up, true freshman Fletcher Westfall behind him, left guard, Nijie Harris, and then you've got an oar between Christian Williams and Rod Kearney. Tanner, Jake Slaughter, Rod Kearney, Jason Zandamela, right guard, Damian George as expected. Bryce Lovett who has been given a high praise red shirt freshman on the depth chart. They accidentally listened him as a true freshman. He's a red shirt freshman, but Bryce Lovett been improving at guard. We were told that he was in the competition to start our right guard. He is listed as the second backup. Rod Kearney not listed at right guard is somewhat interesting, but we've been told that Rod Kearney has been cross-training in both guard spots and the center. Maybe they just feel really comfortable with where they're at with right guard. Cam Waits listed as the third right guard, which is especially notable because Cam Waits is also listed as the starting right tackle. Interesting approach there, Brennan Crenshaw Dixon listed as the second right tackle. Hayden Jones, the third right tackle, Hayden Jones is one that we've been hearing high praise for all fall camp and spring and he was a mid-year enrollee last year, so that's one of the reasons that he found no playing time last year was mid-year enrollee freshman on the offensive line. Really tough to be ready for game day there. But I'm curious, one, what the rotation looks like, two, how full of a leash there is, how much rotation do we see on the offensive line? Or do we see eight guys, do we see rotation at both tackle spots and then Rod Kearney plays a little bit of center, a little bit of both guard spots, curious to know what that rotation looks like? I will say that I think having Damian George and Cameron Waits on the right side does kind of lean toward what I've been saying. I think the run game will do of more pollers, more duo, more power, more gap scheme. We have those huge guys on the right side of the offensive line. Really help open that up and so that could be part of it. And yeah, if Cameron Waits does struggle because I know, I know, Florida Gators fans, I get it, right? We've been having the Cameron Waits conversation since he got to Florida, really. And it's always been, but look at his size, he's six, eight, three, forty-three is what he's listed as. If you can get him right, he's got all the physical tools, the trades, all that stuff. And that's always been the conversation surrounding him. And my point, because I know we've also heard a lot of people go, "Oh, well, Cam Waits should be starting somewhere. A lot of the fan base wants them starting at right tackle or right guard." I don't know why, honestly, like I get the physical trades. What we've seen from him so far hasn't been promising. I don't think he played well last year when he was rotating in, which again, you know, last year, he tore his, I believe it was Achilles in January, February, very early in the actual year, came back toward the end of the season to contribute and play a little bit. Yeah, he played a little bit more, but half the season, like is when he came back kind of, didn't really play a ton, but Vanderbilt, he played a lot. Missouri, there were injuries, he started in Florida, say he started. I don't think he played particularly well in any of those games. We saw him at right guard in 2022 in the bowl game where he only played because he was forced to play there, don't think he played well there. I would imagine that he's taken some pretty significant strides developmentally, or the other options at right tackle just aren't as promising, and so you go, "Well, even they're not that promising," or they're not as promising, so even though he might be rougher, he's got a higher ceiling, let's throw him in there. So that was kind of the offensive line injury to me, not a lot of shocking things. Again, really young offensive line, I mean, you look at it, you've got a true freshman in the 3D by left tackle. You've got a true sophomore starting at left guard, a red shirt sophomore and red shirt freshman as the backups, a red shirt freshman and true freshman as your 2/3 of your center position. You've got a true freshman at right guard backup, and then on the right side, you've got a red shirt freshman as your 3rd right tackle. You've got a lot of youth on that offensive line, which is somewhat promising in terms of what they can become if you actually develop them, but that's something that we'll see throughout the season, what the rotation is, will matter for that, of course, getting actual game reps. But overall, offensive line is not one that I'm surprised by. Again, main thing was can't wait, I did not think we'd be starting right tackle, but we'll see what happens throughout the course of the year, and just what it looks like. We'll look at the quarterback in these skill possessions next on lockdown gators. I've been telling you every day that I eat lunch and I want to go to sleep right away. It's just, I don't know what it is, I'm just really affected, hit the wall once we eat. I know that more than 70% of us hit that wall. I don't know why we hit the wall, but I know everyone hits the wall. At a five hour energy shot, help you leap over that wall or run through that mother. You know what, instead of crashing into it with zero sugar, which matters a lot to me, I care about carbs, zero sugar, a convenient portable size, it's the perfect pick me up for getting stuff done. And the website has a bunch of flavors, watermelon, tropical burst, grape is my favorite, berry, and there is more than just one flavor for every single person, like you got options over there. Every day we are available daily and free rows in the podcast and on YouTube also don't forget to like, subscribe, comment, review all that fun stuff, and I will hopefully see some of you in Gainesville. I'm heading down there later on today, actually. So later on Thursday, I will be in Gainesville. No clue what the plan is there, but that's the plan for now to just get there. But Quarterback, no surprise. Grand merch starting. DJ Legway is the backup and Clay Millen as the third Quarterback. Clay Millen came out from Colorado State. They seem to be pretty confident in his ability if he needs to come in. DJ Legway likely going to rotate and I really, I'll be honest with you. I really don't know if he's going to rotate in, I guess, Miami. I don't know what the plan is for how often he rotates in. I don't know if it's going to be, hey, we're going to bring him in for a drive and essentially just let him rotate in and manage the offense for a drive. If there's just going to be, hey, it's third and short, fourth and short, put you on the field with Montreal Johnson and Jaden Ball and we're showing up with a bunch of power back there and get that first down. But I do think that we'll see DJ Legway a bit. I just don't know how soon it's going to be or to what exposure we'll see for DJ Legway. Running back room like we touched on before, it's Montreux Johnson, Trion led to the primary back up. Then you've got a triple or, I guess, a double or between three players, Jaden Ball, Katie Daniels and Jacoby Jackson. The expectation has always been that those five running backs will play throughout the course of the season. Curious how much of it is going to be a ride the hot hand if they're going to go, hey, you know, we're facing a really light defense, bringing more Montreux, more Jaden Ball and more to Kobe Jackson, it just power, power through. So I'm just curious for things like that. The receiver room, we'll talk about in a second, tight ends are this boarding hand starting with Amir Jackson, true freshman and Tony Livingston, true sophomore listed behind him. Amir Jackson is one of those things where I'm going to say, you know, I need to see it before I believe in it. I do, I have a hard time thinking that a true freshman is going to come in and contribute right away. I mean, he's tall. He's almost two inches taller than our list, but still 17 pounds lighter. That's pretty small. He's played glorified receiver at in high school. That's what he played. He was in Portland, Georgia playing glorified receiver screens and arounds. I'm not saying he can't contribute. It's just, I need to see him actually do that and actually be out there playing. I understand athletic ability, really high ceiling. You still got to be able to play tight end at this level. So I'm curious there what we see, but Billy Napier with tight ends hasn't really rotated a ton anyway throughout his time in Florida. It's been whoever his starting tight ends are played the overwhelming majority of the snaps. And that's it for the most part. Maybe the others get a drive here and there. Hayden Hanson, let's say I have one of the starting tight ends alongside Scott Isaacs and Tony Livingston behind him as well. No Caleb Rillos on the depth chart, which is interesting Caleb Rillos. The Air Force transfer has to red shirt this year, but to my understanding is still eligible to play in four games with typical red shirt standards, but he's not in the depth chart right there. Hayden Hanson's six foot seven and three quarters, 267, I was boarding him 63, 245. Big boots out there to try to cover receivers. Unsurprisingly, Trey Wilson listed as a starter, Aidemoiselle behind him. To Maria Dieke listed as a starter, Marcus Burke behind him, Elijah Badger listed as a starter, Khalil Jackson behind him, or sorry, Elijah Badger and Khalil Jackson are listed as the oars at the starter there. Not surprising. I've said Trey Wilson, Jim Ray Dieke, Elijah Badger, Khalil Jackson, those four who I think of as your starting receivers, just because I think they're going to play a lot, but I think situationally it depends who's on the field at that point. I will say that I don't think it looks like they broke down this depth chart as far as really the true positions, it's just wide receiver, wide receiver, wide receiver. Jim Ray Dieke, probably going to start in the slot, Marcus Burke is listed behind him. I don't believe that Marcus Burke is going to be the primary backup slot receiver. I think that it's Jim Ray Dieke, Trey Wilson when they put him in the slot and then Marcus Burke, we did see Marcus Burke playing the slot under Dan Mullen. We saw Marcus Burke playing the slot in the spring game, especially this year. He was playing out there, so it could be something that they're working for with a big slot, a power slot, that's something Billy Napier has done throughout his career. That could be Marcus Burke's role finally. We've seen a lot of programs just bring tall, fast receivers, put them in the slot and have that slot fade work a lot. Maybe that's something that Florida is looking to add into the passing offense, but Marcus Burke, nearly six four is your tallest receiver and he played in the slot a lot in the spring game, wouldn't shock me to see more of it or wouldn't shock me if this was more just wide receiver, wide receiver, wide receiver. Again, Elijah Badger, Cleo Jackson, not surprising. We know that Elijah Badger still has to finish picking up the playbook. That's not a shock at all, I know that a lot of people go, "How have you not picked up the playbook?" It's really complex, okay? That's why. It's not as simple as Madden, where it's just, "Hey, we called, I don't know, run and shoot why stick and you know exactly what the play is." No, you have to run option routes, it's a big part of this offense as well. There's levels to this offensively, okay? And playbook wise, we'll see, like I'm not saying that he doesn't have it down at all, but we'll see what his route tree looks like early on, either way, I do expect to see him play a lot, Cleo Jackson play a lot, Schimmeri DK play a lot, and Trey Wilson play a lot. I think that should be everybody's expectation. Abe Meizel is reportedly really impressed this fall camp, he's gained weight. He's still a little on the lighter side for being 6'2", but not bad at all, it's definitely acceptable. So I'm curious if we finally get to see him step onto the field and play, sort of touched down in the spring game, if not mistaken. Roger Freshman, receiver, I mean, it's one of the more senior groups. Schimmeri DK is a senior, Marcus Burch is a red shirt junior, Elijah Badger is a senior, Joel Jackson is a red shirt junior, and then Trey Wilson made Meizel sophomore, a red shirt freshman. But I don't think any other position has just two young players on that depth chart. It's very interesting to look at, and I mean, Cape Returner is listed as Montrell Johnson or Elijah Badger or Jayden Ball or Jacob Jackson. I kind of hate all of those, I know Elijah Badger was productive as a Cape Returner at Arizona State. I know it's a way to get the ball in his hands, same thing with Jayden Ball, Jacob Jackson, same thing with everybody. I would just prefer to see like TJ Abrams back there or tank Hawkins, but we'll see injury wise. We know the tank Hawkins was in a sling, probably one of the reasons he's not on their punt returner. Trey Wilson, Schimmeri DK, nothing else surprising about special teams. Other than, one thing that was surprising about special teams for me, Nicholas Inglis, the backup punter is six, four and three quarters, two 42. That's huge. Jeremy Krasha has six, three and three quarters and one ninety six. So Nicholas Inglis is just a tank of a punter, but he is listed as the backup punter here. So we'll see, maybe we see him in week two against Samford. I would just like to see what that looks like, but we are going to look at the defensive side of the ball. And now next on Lockdown Gators. Thanks to make a lot of downgaters your first listen of the day, every day we are available daily and free breakfast in the podcast and on YouTube looking at the defensive side of the depth chart. I mean, I don't know how much the order, I don't know how they determine this order for the oars. In fact, I think I'm realizing how they determine the order for the oars. So I think the way they determine the order for the oars is just numerically. In every spot where there's an or, it's the smaller number first Elijah Badger or Khalil Jackson 6422, Christian Williams or Rod Kearney 56 or 71. So I think that's how it's breaking up a mere Jackson or Tony Livingston 7 or 86. Scott Isax or Tony Livingston 85 or 86. Running back to Jaden Ball, Katie Daniels, Jacobi Jackson 13, 21, 24. Okay. So the F position and that has the strong set and that's Justice Boone, Cam James and Tyreeks Sapp are all oars over there, 124, 94. I don't truly believe Tyreeks Sapp is number three in that rotation. In fact, personally, I think he might be number one. I have I've said before, you know, Justice Boone. I know that we've heard fantastic things about him through all camp every camp, but we haven't seen him play meaningful snaps in a game since 2022. And even then he wasn't very productive. So I'm curious to see that, but Cam James has been promising. He's been getting a bit of hype there at nose tackle Desmond Watson over Cam Jackson or Desmond Watson or Cam Jackson Desmond Watson 21, Cam Jackson 99. So I'm pretty sure it's just numerical order there. Cam Jackson's going to play the overwhelming majority of the snaps. I believe big end three tech, not surprising there, Kayla Banks or Joey Slideman. That's exactly what we've expected to see this entire time. That's not surprising. It's always been those two are going to be the ones in there. Yeah, that's not a shock in any way, shape or form. Jack TJ CRC or George Gums, Jack Pibern back and them up. I think it'll be TJ CRC then George Gums. I know that it's numerical order, but still think that that one rings true. My expectations are very high for TJ CRC. They've got a lot of physical tools, a lot of physical traits. We did a spring game breakdown of him for the insider program, which the links in the description below, but we did that insider program scouting report. He was on there, very optimistic with what he can become. Not too sure that we see it immediately, but I do think that he's got a really high ceiling and shows a lot of promise, really long arms. He just looks like he's listed as 65 262, would not shock me if he had like a 6, 6, 8, 6, 9 wingspan, wouldn't shock me at all. He looks like he's just a really long edge rusher, linebackers, Shimara James and Grayson Howard or Derek Wingo, Miles Graham or RJ Moten. So it's Shimara James, Miles Graham or RJ Moten, Pop Howard or Derek Wingo, Jane Robinson below them. That's kind of how we expected to see it shake out. I am very curious to see how the linebacker rotation works out. Sam is George Gums, Jr. listed as the starter, which isn't surprising, Aaron Childs behind him to Mark's Western behind him is just that's an interesting group. Just because I'm curious with George Gums, George Gums sends your Marcus Weston being on that list to make me think that that's more of an edge spot, but Aaron Childs being on that list makes me think that might be more of an awful spot. So I'm just curious to see what that looks like. It was rare that we saw Florida go three linebackers and by rare, I just mean, you know, it wasn't consistent, but we saw it pretty much every game, then go three linebackers on the field at once. I'm curious how often they do it this year, but that that lineup is shaken up. Like imagine seeing something like Justice Boone, Des Watson, or we'll say Justice Boone, Cam Jackson and Kayla Banks as your three down and you've got TJ CRC standing up on one edge. George Gums Jr. standing up on another edge, Shamar James and Pop Howard as the off ball, guys. Come on now. That sounds like hell sounds like hell for for the offense and corner, Jason Marshall, Jakeem Jackson, Teddy Foster, Devin Moore, Dejan Johnson, Jamir Grimsley. No surprises there, really, Teddy Foster being listed as the third corner on that side was a bit interesting. Like Jamir Grimsley was a blue chip caliber cornerback coming in, Teddy Foster was really not. He was overlooked by a lot of people, but him being third on that depth chart is nice. No, Corline McLean listed. Not surprising. Like I've said, I don't think he's going to do much this year. Been saying that was not impressed with his Colorado tape. Still thinking he's had a really high ceiling, but wasn't impressed with his Colorado tape. I need to see that safety, Jordan Castell, Tri-Press Bridges, Gregory Smith, the third true freshman that just started playing safety last year. So very new to the position still, but was really impressive during the spring game. We talked about that at Nauseam. I think that he was just really good. We moved really naturally and it was moving with the kind of confidence that you don't see often. Other safeties about Asa Turner, DJ Douglas, Bryce Thornton, I don't think there's any shock there. I thought we'd see maybe DJ Douglas at the star depth chart and safety. Nope. Just Asa Turner, DJ Douglas, Bryce Thornton there. Shreve Denson and Aaron Gates are the star players. It's Shreve Denson or Aaron Gates on the depth chart. That's not surprising either. We kind of expected that the entire off season that's been the expectation. Overall, defense has a lot of oars, which isn't surprising because I think they rotate more than the offense. I don't think there were really any shocks defensively other than George Gums listed as the starter at Sam. But again, that's what makes me think that's when they go straight 3-4 that he would be on the edge there. But outside of that, really, I don't think there were many surprises defensively. I'm looking through it again. And yeah, there's nothing that's really popping to me as surprising, but I'm excited to see what it works out. It's interesting being on the list at all with something that kind of surprised me there. But that's it. But again, he's one of the reasons that makes me think it's an on-the-ball position. But excited to see how this works out, excited that the depth chart is finally out. Florida Gators football is so close. Don't forget, we have a crossover episode coming out later on today.
