Joshua Project presents and reach to the day as we travel to Moldova to pray for the 2000 Azerys, who were also known as Azerbaijanis. The homeland of the Azeris was first conquered by the Persians in the 6th century BC. Islam was introduced in the 7th century AD. By the 11th century Persian influence was overpowered by Turkic influence. The Azerbaijanis scattered around the same time as the Turks between the 6th and 11th centuries. A small number of them live in what is now Moldova. Islam has been part of the Azeri identity for centuries. That will not change without the Holy Spirit doing what no man can do. There are certainly Christ followers among Azerys in Moldova who can reach their families for Christ. Pray for this people group to see the light of Jesus Christ as the Apostle Matthew taught us. The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light as dawned. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among Azeri family heads so they will be willing to listen to the gospel with open hearts and minds. Thanks, I'm Mark Gordy.
