Do not add to His words lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar. Two things I ask of you, deny them not to me before I die. Remove far from me falsehood and lying. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me lest I be full and deny you and say, "Who is the Lord, or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God?" Psalm 119, "Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law. The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. For ever, O Lord, your word, is firmly fixed in the heavens. I hold back my feet from every evil way in order to keep your word. Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. I hate in abhor falsehood, but I love your law." A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal. And He sent to them, "Take nothing for your journey. No staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money, and do not have two tunics. And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them. And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. What is the Lord saying to you today through these scriptures? What can you now say to the Lord in response to His Word? What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of you today? Spend a few moments in silence, resting in the presence of the Lord. Nourished by God's Word, what is one specific way that you can go forth and make your life a gift for others? Rejoice always, pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you, Amen. Thank you for listening to these daily Mass readings.
