What happens when ancient Zen wisdom meets modern science? A powerful practice of mindfulness emerges – one that combines accepting the present moment with the opportunity to future-cast your potential. This practice invites you to tune into the now, observe what reality is revealing, and embrace a growth mindset that envisions what’s possible. It’s about finding peace in ‘what is’ while holding space for ‘what could be.’ The blend of presence and future-focused intention transforms how we live, empowering us to evolve with each moment.

(upbeat music) - Hey, it's Dr. James Rouse. Welcome to the Change Agents Podcast. This is the place where personal growth meets human performance. Join me and the Change Agents community where inspired individuals unite to ignite their full potential and create extraordinary mastery. - Good morning, it's James. It is so good to see you today. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your energy. Be grateful to have the honor and the blessing of laying eyes on you. And I do hope and pray that this message finds you and all the people that you love. Peaceful, thriving and very, very well. I am really looking forward to sharing this message with you and even more looking forward to seeing how you receive this information. This is a really cool thing that I've been doing with a lot of the folks that I coach and my coaching sessions around personal development and success and happiness and peace and love. That's my coaching business. And I do it with CEOs and leaders and people from all over the world. And I love this because this practice is something that has a ton of research behind it. And I've had an opportunity now to use this as part of my coaching practice and I'm absolutely seeing stellar results. So I wanna share it with you 'cause it's very, very powerful. It combines ancient Zen wisdom of mindfulness and I'd love to say modern day science of personal development associated with success and growth and opportunities to really cultivate and create a life that is sustainably awesome for you and the way you make impact in the world. And it's beautiful because it combines this Zen way of mindfulness, which is basically the practice of accepting what is, looking at reality, understanding this is what it is and not necessarily accepting it like this is how it is, but this is what it is right now and parallel that with or combine that with future casting about what is now and where you would love to go. This has been done at many different levels, business schools, mental health institutions, areas where people are really working on cultivating and healing and growing in their lives. And what they found is that when you put both these things together, this opportunity of mindfulness and present moment awareness, accepting what is, but also knowing that you are a growth oriented person, it allows you to propel your mind and your body and your chemistry into a future casting experience where you develop more emotional resilience, you develop more hope and develop more confidence to take action. And that's the key distinction. It's giving yourself the opportunity to really be honest about where you are in your life and accepting it as not necessarily a sentence, but a present moment awareness of what reality is showing you and then giving yourself permission to take your growth mindset and put it into an action. And what's beautiful about this, the research shows that from a mental health standpoint, it's one of the most powerful practices that we can do to lower stress hormones, to augment neurochemistry associated with positivity and encouragement and peace of mind. So you're getting this dynamic tension of allowing and becoming, allowing and becoming. So I think the opportunity for us today is to consider taking a look at your life right now, assessing where it is in relationship to maybe the work that you're doing, relationships that you have, your present situation with your mind and body, health and wellbeing and taking a good look to accept where it is right now. And then asking yourself, okay, great, this is where I am, where would I love to go? And that is an opportunity for you to start cultivating at a neurochemical level, this forward momentum, which allows you to cultivate, create and circulate what it is that you'd love to be becoming, where I am and what I want to become. So please share your thoughts with this and I can tell you from my standpoint of what I've been doing these last number of months based on this practice, it has been nothing short of transformational for me, for the folks I work with and I think an opportunity for all of us to take one more step in our personal care practice and add the elements of mindfulness with this important distinction of becoming, becoming everything that we know in our hearts and our minds we'd love to be. It's awesome to see you today. It always is much love, deep appreciation, bye for now. (upbeat music) - Thanks for listening.
