Villanova also pulled a major upset to tip off Big East play, beating Creighton in OT despite not leading for the final 35 minutes of regulation - thanks to a monster performance from Eric Dixon.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Duke handled Baylor to hand the Bears their second loss in a row, while North Carolina ended Oklahoma's undefeated season behind a great night from guard RJ Davis.
Oregon State and Washington State are expected to be approved as affiliate members in the WCC starting in 2024-25, giving Gonzaga and Saint Mary's two more decent opponents to play for the next two years.
