Who are the best freshmen in the best conferences in the nation? Locked On College Basketball Insider Jason Jordan joins Isaac Schade to make picks for the current freshman of the year in the Power 5 Conferences and the Big East as well as their current choice for National Freshman of the Year.
Some possibilities in the SEC include Brandon Miller (Alabama), Cason Wallace (Kentucky), Anthony Black (Arkansas), GG Jackson (South Carolina), Julian Phillips (Tennessee). Both guys are going with Brandon Miller.
Some ACC possibilities include Dereck Lively (Duke), Dariq Whitehead (Duke), Kyle Filipowski (Duke), Judah Mintz (Syracuse), JJ Starling (Notre Dame), Seth Trimble (UNC). Jordan chooses Mintz, while Schade goes with Filipowski.
In the Big 12, the choices really come down to either Keyontae George (Baylor) or Gradey Dick (Kansas). Both guys go with George.
In the Big 10, possibilities include Jalen Hood-Schifino (Indiana), Jett Howard (Michigan), Brice Sensabaugh (Ohio State), Fletcher Loyer and Braden Smith (Purdue). Jordan chooses Hood-Schifino while Schade goes with Sensabaugh.
In the Pac 12, Jordan chooses Oregon State’s Jordan Pope, while Schade goes with Kel’el Ware of Oregon.
Finally, in the Big East, both guys choose Villanova’s Cam Whitmore.
As for National Freshman of the Year, the choice is unanimous: Brandon Miller
