Locked On College Basketball

Purdue, Arizona, UConn, Tennessee make huge AP leaps | The FINAL ACC / Big Ten Challenge | SEC freshmen are hot

When the new AP Poll refreshed on Monday, the Houston Cougars were atop College Basketball, as most expected, with Texas and Virginia right behind. Interestingly, Arizona and Purdue jumped all the way up and over Baylor to No. 4 and No. 5. Baylor gets jumped through no fault of their own but by nature of Arizona and Purdue winning the Maui Invitational and Phil Knight Legacy bracket respectively. We learned on Monday that this 24th edition of the ACC / Big Ten challenge would in fact be the last one, due to changing TV contracts. Additionally the SEC and Big 12 Challenge will go away and the ACC and SEC will start squaring off every year the week after Thanksgiving. Several SEC freshmen are off to sensational starts, including Brandon Miller (Alabama), GG Jackson (South Carolina), Julian Phillips (Tennessee), Cason Wallace (Kentucky), and Anthony Black (Arkansas). Not to mention that Nick Smith, Jr., the projected top NBA prospect in this year’s college ranks. Sports Illustrated’s Jason Jordan joins to talk about their game.
