There will be no personal nor direct attacks on anyone and I would ask that you please try to Keep down the loud cheering and the clapping. There will be no booing and no unruly behavior With that this is painful, and it will be for a long time After all these are a couple of high-stepping turkeys, and you know what to say about a high stepper No step too high for a high stepper. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM talk 106 five more shots of tough guy. I mean, I think everybody knows that you know Sean He took some licks he hangs in there. Yeah, what's wrong with the beer we got? I mean the deal we got drink pretty good, don't it? Did you hear what I said? So this is a maid council. I had no doubt about them. That doesn't shock. If you don't like it Last question were you high on drugs? Last question kiss my alright here. We go FM talk 106 five and midday mobile on this Wednesday and wants to do on today's show of course you heard Jeff talk about it a little bit Earlier, but the news out today that mobiles mayor Sandy Stimson is announced He will not seek reelection to a fourth-term as mayor of mobile in the 2025 municipal elections We'll get to that coming up later on in the show, but that news out today Also coming up around 1235 an update from staff meteorologist dr. Bill Williams as we watch this Halene as it's making its way up into the Gulf tracking towards the Florida panhandle will get details and timelines from him around 1235 plus my buddy Tom Claxon Veteran of the year and the word is out. I think we announced a little too early when he came on with me a couple weeks ago But my buddy Tom Claxon He's also host one of the hosts of scuttlebutt radio network the show for veterans by veterans at airs on Wednesday nights here As a very big guest coming up tonight We're gonna talk about that with him a little after one o'clock Also Eric at Thomas from 1819 news on the way and my buddy and the lead off batter in today's show from hailing from somewhere close enough to get to Bryant Denny stadium by Saturday It's Cameron Smith from AL.com and the Triptych Foundation. Hey brother Hey Sean, I'm I'm getting geared up. I'm gonna be there with a hundred thousand plus of my closest friends Watch the crimson tide beat the dog out of Georgia. Okay. I like that. I like that part of it Let me well, you and I will probably do our normal texting during the during the game on Saturday, but do you know? Security-wise because I said it the other day. I said well, I would be I would love to be there at that game huge game But I also I don't think I can stay in galettes until just before the game I'm they told y'all any additional security protocols there. I mean you have to get there early what? Do you know anything like that anything's changed with like a normal game day? I'm not aware of anything As far as things that have been communicated publicly as far as getting in I mean we tend to go in early I've got my dad my brother my youngest son So we got three generations of Smith men go into the game and we'll take it early take it in and be ready to go Hey kids I was thinking if it would be like, you know, some of those I mean obviously anybody like a former president coming to the event But alone, we'll talk yet senators gonna be there as well But now that they've you know twice attempted assassination on Trump if they'll be you know You go to like a political event. There's some things where they you have to get there early And then they have to sweep all the equipment and do all that stuff. I just wondered how it's gonna be If you knew so they you've not been told anything there's gonna be any kind of different security going on No, the only thing is you know, we've got rumors that there's an Auburn coach going to be in the stadium Uh-huh, so that's just that's it's not okay But other than that, I think I think they've got it covered I wonder what's gonna happen cuz that's gonna be interesting to hear if that happens and there's anybody comes out You know if I gum the jumbo Tron or comes out there like the fact that There'd be cheering for Trump and that senator that might have been the Auburn coach big supporter of Trump's But it's the Auburn coach and he's in Bryant and he will they boo when the jumbo Tron pans that way Oh, absolutely. Yes, we are. I mean, what what's more important important him being a Republican senator in Alabama Or an Auburn football coach when it comes to Bryant Denny stadium I know the answer and even when I like some of Tuberville's policies I mean you put an Auburn coach in our stadium I mean you you're obligated to be it's gonna be interesting here how that spun probably by national media They'll be see the people in Alabama. Don't like their senator like no no no no y'all don't get you don't get how we yeah It's it's different down here. We do things differently. All right. I carried a lot in the political world to talk about that is part of it there Also, the so I wrote this note to myself. So Trump has Robert Kennedy Jr. As Harris has vaudevir Zelensky So so I've heard this Zelensky has ended his campaign and signed on with Harris, right and endorsed Yeah, I heard this rumor Big if true However, look, here's a guy who's trying to do whatever he thinks he needs to do to save his country And so I don't I don't begrudge him anything Trying to figure out the politics trying to hitch his wagon to anybody But you put him on official aircraft and fly him to a book which campaigning not Heads of state kind of stuff that does leave me wondering, you know, is that does that fall outside of some kind of rule out there? I don't you know, I'm sure it could and that's on the Harris campaign to not violate the law Zelensky saying hey Whatever works to get me what I need and my people need to fight Russia He's willing to do and obviously Trump and Vance have been less enthusiastic about Supporting Ukraine and you know, that's certainly a fair policy position and one that a lot of Americans support, but I don't blame it Zelensky at all for Doing what he's doing and trying to get support because the the latest in in that situation is he's concerned that Russia's gonna Go after their nuclear power plants take away power for Ukraine and try to freeze them out this way But they've already and I know they came up and just came up with a new news breeze Not that they Russia wouldn't do that, but they've already done that right. They I mean they've already made those moves and the idea is you if you Practically if you move in if you're the Russians and you can capture nuclear power plant you put your Missile batteries and all that in there so the Ukrainians won't shoot back at you because they don't want to have a Meltdown of a reactor. It's actually, you know, well, I'm not sure for the Russians. It's pretty smart smart warfare It's it's smart tactically But the the bigger issue is if they keep those power plants on that's great, you know that for Ukraine I think Putin's smart enough to realize that freezing people to death does engender sympathy and so I suspect that he won't do that but if he did and You know Ukraine again becomes a sympathetic character here. I I just don't see the world ignoring that Here we are and I look I don't want to get into World War three, but man It increasingly seems as if that's where we're headed and you and I've talked about that a lot. Yeah, okay, so let's take it Yeah, let's take a little trip there to the I would be to the southeast and and now even more I've been talking about this for Dang close to a year now and I sound like chicken little maybe early people came came around later but we keep moving American assets, you know human beings and and and military might into the to the area of the greater Levant and As we do that and we say well, we're propping up our our ally. We're showing strength Okay, we also are opening ourselves up to have an attack that Would happen that we would have to respond to and engage I mean this whole idea that you know We built the pier cuz we weren't gonna put boots on the ground in Gaza And they're just turning up the the real stats slowly here turning up the fire on the stove. I It seems like we're we're bound and determined to get into a bigger war Well, I think on both fronts first of all you're you are right those assets being in that region of the world Right now and knowing that particularly the enemies of Israel View us and through the same lens and so they would love to attack our assets there and when they do There will have to be a response. I don't care whether it's Republican or Democrat who's in the White House Who's not there's no way an American president says we had people killed In theater and we decided to just let it chill out. That's that will not happen and you know even in Ukraine My criticism has not been hey We shouldn't engage here. It's that we should have a plan all along and right now with Ukraine saying to the United States Hey, well let us you know shoot missiles into Russia hit these targets I'm very sympathetic to why they'd want to do that But then my question is how do we argue that America is not at war with Russia correct? I mean, you know, we're very very close already. It's we're so we're offering the supplies This is like the French and American Revolution of we're offering a lot of these supplies and helping out Okay, now we're committed now. We're in and that it feels like where we are. Yeah It's it's and it's frightening in that and also back to the Zelensky thing. Yes, I understand I will argue that I treat him like I do lobbyists people get mad at the lobbyists I'm not mad at the lobbyists. I'm mad at the elected officials that listen to the lobbyists or do what they want to do same thing I mean Zelensky could have come try to get everything you can. I get it It's just the people that will do what he wants, right? I'm not mad at Zelensky. If I'm Zelensky and I'm a Ukrainian I'm trying to do the same hustle. It's just the people that would say oh if you come over here and kind of you know Campaign for me. I'll get you a little bit more on the back end Yeah, and I mean, let's be honest. I mean we've had if you do this I will do this from the past administration, too I mean we we like the idea of Well, we're leveraging our military for political gain. That's been recent history in America and I Think the bigger issue is we're not doing deterrence. We're not we like the phrase stand with we're standing with Ukraine We're standing with Israel Standing without a plan is really really dumb and I I don't think that certainly not the Biden administration They don't have a plan. They've not articulated what success looks like and either of these conflicts and we're gonna end up paying for it Yeah, very Yes, and I'm scared of that. I scared we just keep moving closer and closer to this on both fronts also, let's let's talk a little bit about the the business of politics or the rules the rules of politics as Now one time signee and defender of the filibuster Kamala Harris is now for doing away with the filibuster in the Senate the She's now against it. I guess it's like fracking Yeah, I mean this type of stuff is stupid that the filibuster needs to be preserved and I understand why people don't like it Anytime somebody wants something they hate the filibuster the idea of the Senate was to cool down The stuff that comes out of the house the idea was to say when the Senate was envisioned and not even since States have no longer appointed those centers even even since we've had direct election the Senate is slow It's the contemplative body and that filibuster Says we need more than bare majorities to move stuff into law and without it I think we might as well just do away with the Senate and just go Let's go with the house of representatives because we're not doing anything to slow down the hey We've got 51% we have a mandate Let's go and frankly neither side has that mandate that they wish they had yeah It's it's like people have forgotten you know what we all learned in school the the mechanisms of that you know the the hotter heads of The house of representatives can move things a certain way the austere body of the Senate is a governor and a break to it to some degree The founding fathers were pretty smart dudes and we seem to think well now we know better Yeah, and we don't and this to me is where conservatives need to stand up and say what are we doing? We must go we must slow this down. We must Make the federal government not the genie that gives us everything we want We need to slow it down and it should be difficult to create new laws in Washington the power should rest with the states I know I'm an old soul about some of this stuff but it's because it works and that's where folks in Washington just want to promise promise promise and they want to take the Breaks off the vehicle and the only the only future for that is crash What are you feeling right now? It's and I know we have not a long time. We went five weeks here till election time What's your feeling? I mean you can go pick people say Shawn look at this poll and somebody else says look at this Paul you can find a poll that says what you want What does Cameron Smith think about what's gonna happen November 5th? So anybody tells you they know definitively it's just lying to you But what I can tell you is I have watched the most Significant favorability swing of any major candidate I have ever seen Happened over the last couple months with Kamala Harris from one from a person that they I mean even Democrats didn't like right? That's yes, and and but now it's she's the best thing ever, but yeah, go ahead. I'm sorry But but we we were making fun of her we were saying she's not competent. She's not capable word salad all that stuff I still believe the word salad is real but between the media and her ability to show discipline and not Make unforced errors. She's now net positive on the favorability polling and that concerns me because People vote for candidates. They like and it does matter a lot and in a close election where they're like Which one do I like a little more? I think she's got the edge right now, and I hate the choices if I'm honest I think most Americans look at this and say neither I'm really excited about the challenge for Trump is previously with Biden It's not only am I not excited about it, but I don't believe that he's competent He can't even string sentences together with Harris They've seen instances where she can and she's not making any unforced errors and the media is basically saying you're magical Stictions it matters. Yeah, it does I There's not enough time because I may have she would have been a candidate for longer over time You could wear down the you know forget about the people push past the personalities and this person said this and this person is associated with that And just say which one's gonna out of these two and you may not like the two choices But which one's better for we the people? I mean it's just simple, you know a simple question there take the Human beings out of it take the cults of personality out of it and say which one and one has a proven record of what the economy was like And I think Americans wake up to that they're they they they may swing red in some of those districts Yeah, we'll see I think the challenge here is she has presented herself above all is the change candidate Which is insane for an incumbent company. Thank you And say this forever. They're running like madness. They're running like Trump's he incumbent. I'm like what the hell you open it power We looked at walls walls did a rally and he said we can't take four more years of Guys, I agree walls. I agree. What's going on and but but the point is a lot of people ignore Harris for a minute that she's the vice president Most people don't know what any vice president does if I ask Republicans tell me about Mike Pence and what he did and his big accomplishments as vice president for Trump most folks Can't tell you very much. That's what's happened with Harris. Most folks can't tell you much and She's been able to reinvent herself as the change candidate who's joyful and positive and Trump's a big old meanie And that's very potent right now. All right. Let's people to read more of this of course al.com Your social media, where do they find you? At d Cameron Smith on X you can find me at al.com/opinion and I've got one coming out on a Republican state senator who is advocating for government control of private enterprise, so you'll have to check that out Oh, welcome home to Alabama and by the way, if people have not checked out the film yet We've talked about the ballad to David Crockett. Where do they go? Go to prom go to Google Play anywhere go see ballad to David Crockett have fun with your family I can promise you that you can watch that and you won't feel gross after very good Garrett. I appreciate it, man We'll talk soon Thanks, sir. All right, dad. They're good Cameron Smith and we're coming right back more of bid day mobile on This show in the station FM talk one of six five three four three zero one zero six This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM talk one oh six five Right 26 FM talk one oh six five midday mobile Erica Thomas from 1819 news on the way plus my man Like possibly maybe that's who we should run for mayor of Mobile next Tom Klaxton joins me He's veteran of the year. He's my friend. Don't hold that against him Joins us and in just a little bit, too We'll check in with staff meteorologist dr. Bill Williams get the latest on Halloween get the latest from you on the text line here Let's see. Oh scrolling suggested. Maybe that Fred Richardson should run for mayor again. Yeah, well, I mean, maybe that's in the mix It's interesting to think about the people that would come out in the next mayoral, which is I mean It's less than a year away now. I think we'll start hearing from people Pretty soon mr. Potts said Sean you always be my mayor of Mobile. Well, thank you. Thank you, mr. Potts Not launching note no word here on a campaign Is Hudson you mean Connie Hudson protected by the LBJ rule if she runs for mayor. I Now I don't I think she could I know I don't think any I get a design be act has its own set of rules here Maybe I'll talk about that with Erica coming up and and also Dale leash tomorrow pick his brain on it Tim said Sean do you think Sandy's making a deal not to get prosecuted? No, I don't think he's gonna be prosecuted I don't think I think you know, he had toyed around with not running before and maybe you know If you do the polling and it doesn't look like I don't know I mean, I'll tell you what we'll try to get him on the show that you can ask him directly why he's not running again Brandon that's funny sent me a meme. Usually I just look at those and don't bring him up But it's a picture of Harris and Zelensky and says so a foreign Leader of a country not in NATO is invited to the US tutorial ammunition facilities while openly campaigning for a VP Nothing to see here folks. Just go watch the news about P Diddy. I read that brain because that's so true I'll get I'll be in a conversation like not on the air with people and those and talk about Something like this in the go. But what do you think about P Diddy? I'm like, I don't know. I I'll wait for the trial. It'll be a hell of a thing to watch But like I said to Cameron, I don't blame Zelensky same way. I don't blame lobbyists lobbyists doing lobbyists things Zelensky if you were Zelensky in Ukrainian, you'd be trying to hustle everything you could it's The American official that would work a deal that I have a problem with Unnamed texture says well, you're right chicken little and the sky is getting ready. The sky is getting ready to fall I you know, I keep going I don't Trying to figure out, you know a path to peace and I have not seen it We just continue to put us assets and I'm not it's not anti-Israel. It's just I'm pro-us And I'm backing Israel get weapons and letting them do what they got to do. That's fine But it seems like they're bound and determined To make it to where there's us boots on the ground In Israel and wherever this war if the war would spread Yeah, I worry about that stuff Does that make me an isolation at whatever I get called? I'm sure there'll be a mean name for me on Twitter. It's okay I can handle it So Jon says two problems with Selensky campaigning for Harris one taxpayer dollars spent to fly him around big political statements against one party in person Two on Selensky's part. It may be one of the stupidest things I've seen to alienate the person who could possibly be the next president Just done. Yeah, John. He's uh rolling those Ukrainian die All right coming right back at Erica Thomas joins us also dr. Bill with a tropical weather update This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM talk 1006 5 Right 1235 FM talk 1006 5 midday mobile Checking in with Erica from 18 19 news in just a second right now our staff meteorologist Dr. Bill Williams joins us for the latest on helene Dr. Bill where where's the center of this sitting right now? Just about Shawn to enter the Gulf of Mexico. It's just off the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula And it has become a hurricane now with winds of 80 miles per hour category one It's moving to the north northwest at 10 miles per hour But is expected to gradually turn to the north and then the northeast and it will track in a north Easterly direction all of tomorrow across the eastern Gulf and during that time it will continue to intensify Reaching at least a category three when it makes landfall on the eastern portion of the Florida Handhandle and that will occur tomorrow night and then the likely target is still around Appalachia Bay, which is just south of Tallahassee and it may come very close to Appalachia Cola and That time they can expect a storm surge in that area around Appalachia Bay that could run from 12 to 15 feet The storm will truck into Southwest Georgia, but the eastern eye wall could very well go right across Tallahassee As it moves into southwest Georgia It will be a category one and then it will begin to decrease it become a tropical storm And we expect it to move up through western Georgia Tomorrow night and into early Friday and by Friday morning around daybreak The center of less storms should be just west of Atlanta After that it will continue to decrease into a depression and move across Tennessee And then sort of stall over western Kentucky as it sort of combines with an upper air weather disturbance So it's got a long track and a lot of rain The major part of that rain will be along and east of the track That means Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, particularly western Carolinas and a lot of rain in the Appalachians It could be severely serious flooding some heavy rain will occur over eastern Alabama and Portions of northern Alabama and that but all of that will lift to the north Over the weekend and they'll be faced up in Kentucky and Tennessee with a weekend of rain Yeah, I'm thinking about just the area you're you're speaking of I just actually was down there Just a month and a half ago That is a that area, Florida is pretty darn flat and I mean not that there's not some hammocks out there some higher But it's pretty darn flat a 15 foot storm surge. This is you know That can go way inland. I know it, you know, they're not super populated when you get past the coast, but this could go way in Yes, indeed and of course to once you get up toward Tallahassee, it gets hilly, but south of Tallahassee It is relatively. Yes, St. Gorgs and St. Joe Bay and Apalachicola and all that that it's fairly flat around there and you're likely to see double digit Storm surge go all around Apalachicola Bay and Possibly even over into Cedar Key, which is farther to the east and then they're gonna have a problem with water piling up along the western coastline of the Florida Peninsula all the way down to Tampa and even farther south than that But also to add to this the problem of this storm It's a likely see quite a few tornadoes develop on the eastern side of Of the storm where there's a lot of thunderstorm activity and that will affect Florida Georgia and on up to the Appalachians So this is a big storm and it's going to present to quite a problem now We're on the good side if there is such a thing we're on the western side of the hurricane and We we're gonna see some a shower of thunderstorm activity developed but tonight in the moral But that's mainly due to a cold front, which is really a dry front There's now positioned over northern Alabama and central Mississippi that front is going to drop down into our area tomorrow and It'll help produce quite a bit of the rain that will occur because the heaviest rain is really over a long track and east of it And that dry front is gonna move through and on Friday It's gonna be beautiful sunny skies lower humidity temperatures of a low 80s And it's gonna set us up for a rather nice weekend. Yeah, you know because it when storms would go to the east of us You've always said what drags dryer air down with those those winds coming around the storm But then this case it we were having a cold front anyway, so it's good to be a lot nicer Yeah, it will be nice and the temperatures at night As we look at Friday night and on through the weekend many areas will get down into the mid and upper 60s And we'll be in the 80s, which is just about the way it should be this time of the year Yeah, I'll take it for sure and once again dr. Bill Landfall you expect at what time and and at what intensity? Well the rainfall in our area. We're just gonna see some scattered showers that I say like landfall Yeah, landfall for Helene over to our east. What is that tomorrow evening? Oh? Yeah, it's gonna be mainly Mid-day tomorrow and on through the evening hours to the east of the storm and You know rainfall totals will be anywhere from five to ten inches The storm is gonna move along rather quickly. It's not gonna stall in our in the southeast But it will eventually stall up around Kentucky But we're all this moisture gets lifted up into the Appalachians. That's a problem right there We're gonna get some enormous rainfall totals up in the in the Smokies and All of that's got to come down stream to the coast and so the rivers are going to be pretty high To the Carolinas and into Georgia all right dr. Bill. We appreciate the update and we'll check back with you soon Okay, Sean. There's our staff meteorologist and tropical weather expert dr. Bill Williams Four plus decades of calling it right here along the Gulf Coast always reassuring to have his forecast out there All right, let's bring in our friend. So it's Eric Thomas from 1819 news you're You're okay, right because I know I mean you're you're kind of new to living down here Last kind of storm discussion you were would you buy milk and eggs and bread and all that are you you feeling okay now? Are you stocked up on supplies? What are you doing? Yeah, well, I didn't have to use all that stuff last time so I still have the water and batteries So yeah, I'm good. I'm good to go and I did here in our subdivision some people talking about putting up the the hurricane shutters that our homes come with Because you know, I'm in a newer subdivision. So they're gold certified and they come with these things and I found out this week that if you don't use those Somebody said that sometimes your insurance will not pay for repairs if you don't use those elements So I went ahead and got mine out of the attic just in case but then I spoke with a meteorologist yesterday And then I just heard that I don't think I'm gonna need that. I think you'll be I think you'll be okay Let's talk. Let's talk about you. I'd be a bad segue for me to say the storm that's burning a mobile Because I don't think it's really a storm But but it is interesting and it's got a lot of people talking this morning You get a story up over 1819 news about mobiles mayor Sandy Stimson saying he is not gonna run again Wow, yes, I was shocked when I saw this email this morning. I actually thought am I reading this correctly? Yeah, he said, you know, he's gonna hang it out. He's gonna spend time with his family He he had a highly produced video that that's in the story. I mean it is it is top-notch production style video So this is something that he's planned out. This is something that he's thought about and you know, really wanted to go out Respectfully and I mean this video that's put together is Nice, and it really shows a different side of Sandy Stimson where he gets emotional talking about Tommy hasn't had you know spent with his family things. He's missed out on some of his accomplishments he highlighted and He said, you know, he feels the city's in a good spot right now so he hopes, you know, this is a good time to kind of hand over the torch to another mayor and You know that election will be next year. So In my bill will definitely have a new mayor. Yeah, and it's gonna be, you know, I've mentioned it with Jeff the way I imagine we're gonna start hearing names Pretty darn soon because I mean this is a big enough job that people be campaigning for this Yeah, it's not like some places, you know a couple months out somebody announces I think we're gonna start hearing things the next month. Oh Yeah, I've already sent emails out to people that I think might Put their name in a hat and also where does Stimson go like is he gonna still do something else? You know Because they always say I'm gonna spend time with family and they do, you know, they want to do that but a lot of times, you know politicians will go to a higher position or a different position I just don't know a lot of people are also gonna come out with, you know Thoughts about why he is hanging this up. Yeah, you should see my text line Yeah, I mean because well that the people are so used to seeing like some kind of scandal involved and in Mayor Simpson has been involved in a lot of tent back and forth Concerning the police chief that position, you know James Barbara. There's been all this controversy And it it might be connected to that. Maybe he said, you know, I'm tired of this But I just don't think there's any like crazy corrupt scandal that's been going on. It's about to be exposed. I Just don't see that happening. I don't either and and you know also Well, we've talked a lot about that recently if you look back at the body of work over 11 years It's been for me. It's been trans it's been transformative in the city Yeah, there has been so much I was looking because I've only been here, you know almost two years and and I was like wow There's all this happened under him. That's amazing And then just this year like the last few months We've seen all the the new bridge that's gonna be built which is really more of a federal thing But still this is all things that are happening now in Mobile and I think when he says, you know The city of Mobile is set the stage is set for the next mayor. This is probably what he means Because there's a lot of things coming that are very positive like the the new Civic Center The big hotel development, you know, they did the Amtrak deal And you could just go on and on and talk about things that have happened here just in the past few months or a year The announcements the cruise ship. I mean Mobile is, you know now one of the biggest cities in the state of Alabama not to mention it's Growing like we're getting more and more people So I just I do think that there's a there's a positive outlook for Mobile And I believe Stinson. He just wants to make sure it's he leaves it in a good place for the next person All right Erica also outside of that story a couple other to look at here Get we give me this one because there's been a lot of discussion. I've had, you know on this station I've had people that are players in this Messaging me give me my friend Erica Thomas is Understanding of what the heck is going on with the Fair Hope Situation or the Haitian refugees coming there Is this a disguise where are you again? Give me the what do I need to know? I? Mean, I think what everyone needs to know in the entire state of Alabama no matter what city you're in no matter What county you're in there? There is an influx of immigrants or migrants and it whether it's Haitians Venezuela, and it's it's it's everywhere You you would have to be living under a rock to not have noticed it already you know no city is going to to be immune to the migrant influx and There are concerns over this as far as you know vetting people properly America like everyone is saying founded Even by people that that weren't in digging into the area like we're all immigrants in a way Oh, and so a lot you can't have a last name like Sullivan and not understand the beauty of this country, but go ahead Yes, yeah, we really do have to have have immigrants But we have to have you know safety protocols there as you know the drug issue is Is rampant so there are concerns like that like the gang activities the things you've seen in Ohio those are real things that are happening and It's the end of the day people just want answers and those answers have been nearly impossible to get from the federal government People on the state level are trying to get answers about What programs are these migrants coming in on where exactly are they going? So I did a story last week about you know some of the the migrant issues I've done a lot of stories in Silicaga and then we had a a meeting an enterprise that was covered by one of our reporters and in Jay Palmer in that article mentioned There's a thousand Haitian immigrants that are going to be resettled in Baldwin County So people read that that once in it's from that article and and we just I mean our phone started blowing up We we got so many calls so on On Monday, I did another story and I talked to Jay Palmer myself and I said where are you getting this information? You know, what is the exact information and he he really cleared up more of the things That that people wanted to know and I don't think it's as Concerning now as it was at the time because once rumors start, you know, it's like that telephone game You tell one person something and then mm-hmm. I heard I heard 30,000 Haitian immigrants were coming to Fair Hope That was never said like by 30,000 were coming in there who live in the Grand Hotel, right? The rumor machine And we can't control at 18 19 is we can't control, you know, what people say on our Facebook post But it really got out there And there were just tons of people. I've never seen that many people at the Fair Hope City Council meeting there in the lobby they were also upset because Councilman Corey Martin Son was a signy on a letter by welcoming refugees, which Didn't specifically say any type of refugee, you know, Haitian or Ukrainian, but We all know that story went went left because I think that people assumed he was he was trying to To bring in Haitian migrants because that's just a topic right now, right? That that two's coming into silicaga, you know And I want to say to like I've actually met some Haitian immigrants that have been here for years, and they're just you know precious people so I don't want this to be a Dangerous situation. I don't want people to feel uncomfortable But I think our city leaders our local leaders our county leaders need to protect our citizens first, you know, cuz there are real concerns But I just I just hope it doesn't turn into anything I Think there is time to panic sometimes when when we see things like this, but like I said both of those stories kind of got Mixed up and things came out that you were not true. That's why I get it. Yeah, read all of them and read them closely, y'all Yeah, I just think we'll continue to follow any development, you know if they're in in these This recent influx of 800 to 1200 in Baldwin and mobile counties by the way, not just Baldwin County If that comes to fruition then hopefully we'll be able to To find that out, you know and get information from this Haitian church that that the information is coming from now. I think it would be important just to you know ask them like You know, well welcome, but how did you get here? What program are you on? You know, I mean, it's very very important and it really doesn't matter where they're from, you know, we have to we have to watch out for China is bringing people over And I don't know why I don't know what they're doing what their plan is but China isn't is it friendly to us? So we really have to worry about our our national security here and people say, you know This is fear mongering and everybody's being mean to the migrants But really we just have to look out for ourselves It's just part of being American and it's part of protecting what we have and if you appreciate what we have in the paradise that we live in down here You you need to pay attention just pay attention and if you ask questions to your local government and in They talk down to you or they're hateful Well, maybe you'll change stuff when you go to the polls next time people would have read these stories and hold a lot more How do they find you online? Go to 18 19 news calm and my email address is at the end of every story that are right There you go, click it and and respond Erica appreciate it. We'll talk soon Thank you. God bless. All right. I thought you were talking about the mobile mayoral Like shit. I was like, well, yeah, maybe Let's see Michael says I disagree that people in general have forgotten the way a bill is supposed to come about I believe they either don't I believe they don't care anymore Democrats on the whole either want to completely destroy all the foundations or if they Or if you want to have a Pollyanna view you can think they're too stupid to realize that policy makers They're electing want to destroy the USA Maxima says I'm retiring if Fred becomes our mayor And tell you what Maximus does, but he does an important job for a city. So do it that way On name texture says I don't know why we need a vice president Kamala can't be working as she goes around campaigning every day. She can't do her job Whatever that may be that's that's the old discussion, right? when you incumbents or campaigning or they do we talk about that with presidents and We can have that conversation one day because I think it's a fair one.
