(air whooshing) Every team, every topic, everywhere. This is Belize. (upbeat music) - NIST trading strategy session for week four. Got Ryan Morgan here, I'm Chad Parsons, and a busy week as always. We're overflowing with UTHBIP suggestions for player profiles. So that's gonna be on the premium side. As always, we're gonna be discussing some of the key players as well. Here on the free side. It'll preview here, and where else to start, but the white-hot Malik neighbors, where he is producing at a level that we don't see that often, especially when you talk about a guy with pedigree. We had Pukindakua last year, but we had the discussion about a day three wide receiver. Well, this is coming from top 10, and Malik neighbors is producing at a high level. He's basically the only show in the passing town there for the Giants, and he can still not be stopped. Any opening foray here, Ryan, before we get to some of the trading strategy for the week with Malik neighbors? I think you're selling to people just based on what he's been doing. I mean, you're seeing them all across red zone. You're seeing them all across your stat sheet, and wins, and all this stuff on your teams, and he is just blowing up. It's like, wow, is this the next Randy Moss? Can I get him in his rookie season? And he's been great. I think it is the Washington defense. I was kinda preaching, hey, don't expect this to continue next week at Cleveland. And I thought it was just criminal that, especially in the red zone, they're not triple covering him. I mean, who else do you have on the Giants that scares you? Like, beat me with anyone but that guy, and yet you're seeing these one-on-one bros into the end zone. But man, he looked good, highlight plays. They were not the most accurate bros, and Daniel Jones, you know? I mean, give him at least credit for knowing who to be looking at at all times to make him look good. I did text out into the VIP chat that this reminded me of. If you remember how bad Eli was before Odell Beckham showed up, and how Odell Beckham extended his career by five years, it kinda reminds me of that, not that they should stick with Daniel Jones, but you can sure, you know, Sam Darnell didn't look that great until he was thrown to Justin Jefferson, and Malik Neighbors, he's checking all the boxes, Chad. I don't know what else you'd want him to do through three games. - Yeah, and I think to some degree, it is sustainable now to 32% target per route run. I mean, that's a crazy number that venturing into the 30s doesn't really happen with any sort of big sample size. You'd love to have a 26, 27, 28%, kind of a leveling off period. But a lot of the other things, he's run on 38 routes per game. So obviously, you know, we're looking at a guy that's maxed out in that capacity over two yards per route run. He's got three touchdowns, but his touchdown rate isn't crazy right now. It's about 12%. So, I mean, he's doing a lot of great things in terms of after the catch, he's doing some short stuff. He's doing some longer stuff, some high points. So, and honestly, Wandao Robinson is doing enough to say that he's actually a viable contributing member of that passing game. So to say that there's nothing there, I mean, that's true in the macro sense, but Wandao Robinson is at least providing something. So it's not just, you know, neighbors and the pips, you know, here. So I actually think, you know, this is something that could stabilize. He could be, you know, someone in the 18 to 20 point per game range, for the season, he's that 22, 23. So again, I think that's kind of maxing out right now. Obviously, you would expect them to improve, whether that's tight end, whether that's running back, whether that's wide receiver. Next off season, when they get a chance to reset, they're one of the worst outside of neighbors and the entire NFL and all those positions. So again, there's some more macro things, but he's certainly off to a good career start. And one thing we kind of added about was just the idea that, you know, when a player is like this, you can aim super high. You doesn't mean you have to sell them this week, but it is instructive, you know, with him, like you said, to highlight moments and everybody's mind. It is a good idea to just check the market, check the pulse, see what's going on there in terms of some buy, sell opportunities. - Yeah, it's definitely, you know, we're wanting our fingers on the pulse. I've said it before. This is the, you know, week three. This is your money time. You know, there's three and four, really the number one times to be like, hey, what can I get for seconds? What can I get from teams that are readjusting what they thought their team was going to be? So whether it's, you know, suddenly they're doing a little better than they thought. It could be fake stuff that, you know, a backup or a big game pop that's carrying their entire team. And you can see they don't really have the horses to keep going or really it's the guys who thought, hey, I got a shot this year. And now they're like, there is no way I am completely out of it, right? We've had enough injuries, especially wide receivers and stuff this year that you can see that switch. And so you always want to know what the market's doing, what we can get for these guys. And then just know that week three starts this huge transition of people's outlooks on what their dynasty team is going to do on the year. And can we take advantage of that? Can we get the guys that are productive off the, when they want to have a higher draft pick? Can we give them draft capital for productive guys, et cetera, et cetera? And so Malik neighbors, I mean, through these last two games and through what he's done so far. Y'all remember Marvin Harrison Jr. last week and stuff. And now Roma Dune say this week, it's just when you have this high pedigree and you start to pop and you're, you know, highlight real plays that you're seeing all over Sports Center or anything that you're doing online, TikToks or something. And then all of that culminating in, it's just everybody on the forefront of their mind is like, man, I wish I had all the Malik neighbors right now. And so what can you get with that? I'm not saying sell them. Obviously he's checking every box. He's got the draft pedigree. Assuming health, he's going to have on heck of a rookie year and what that projects to going forward. So if you are selling him, definitely don't be like, I'm going to just be hacked to the collector with a bunch of quarters to try to get up to a dollar. You know, go all the way up if you are selling him. - That online is the world's most trusted betting platform and your number one source for everything football. First trade, pretty surprising because we know this guy pulls a lot in the market with name cache and it's funny because people I guess are just projecting that this year has gone better than it actually has, which is we saw a straight up deal between Malik neighbors and Garrett Wilson. It's a rare same position, one to one or close proximity type trade there. And again, Garrett Wilson, about half the points per game, he's basically lower in every single category. I guess the one thing is maybe you go, you know, Garrett Wilson's going to have Aaron Rodgers. He's great, he's forever. You know, that's going to be a good thing. Well, it hasn't been a great thing so far and Malik neighbors has trash at quarterback and he's still producing at an elite level. So I just, that's one that really struck me as I don't understand. It does not compute with my little, you know, methodical brain. So just to kick us off, you know, just know that-- - Cherry kicking that one though. I mean, the market on Garrett Wilson versus UTH on Garrett Wilson varies greatly. So that one can be explained away. Really, if I'm going straight up, there's only five wide receivers that I'm considering and not necessarily taking all of them or, you know, if I'm giving up on neighbors, I want more in the deal. So maybe I'll turn some other assets into greater than assets or get something thrown in there. But the names that I see are just Marvin Harrison Jr. And that one, you know, some people will have either side and I get it. But otherwise, it's Jamar Chase, C.D. Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Amman Ra, and anything other than that, I view as going down. - Yeah. So yeah, Garrett Wilson, definitely down. - A bigger trade, I wanted to get your thoughts on this 'cause Romo Dunesay is on the other side. We've got, and this is the classic two for two where, you know, you're looking at where am I upgrading and what does that do for my roster composition here? But we have Malik neighbors and Kenneth Walker for Breeze Hall and Romo Dunesay. - I get it. I don't know that that's gonna be enough for me to pull the trigger. I get the hammer that these running backs and there's three names that what they can do. And I'm looking more at, I'm gonna scroll ahead just a little bit and this is Malik neighbors is legit going for three firsts. And that's interesting 'cause there's not a lot of players that go for three firsts and saying three games into someone's career that there were three firsts when they weren't three games ago. I don't even know if they were two games-- - Might've been two firsts to get to the spot to get take neighbors in the rookie draft. - Oh yeah, I mean, it depends on where. - Like in your rookie draft, it might've been a later first and then a future first and you're like, I moved up to get neighbors, right? - Yeah, and I saw him going somewhere in the three to five range, so, but even that, I mean, three firsts, how many players are there? - Especially at non-premium, you know, we're not talking tight end premium, tight ends, we're not talking super flex quarterbacks and stuff like that, but there's not a lot of people to give three firsts for. So that interests me and I want people to have kind of that as their outlook here for what you're looking at four neighbors, right? So is Breeze Hall worth three firsts and is neighbors worth three firsts? If that's the case and you've got those guys straight across even, I like going no Dunes A for Kenneth Walker, like I prefer the O'Dunes A side pretty solidly, however, just know, you know, these are things that you're gonna be remembering years from now, so don't do it flippantly because these guys have all the things you're looking for and mind you, we do get in trouble with the young wide receivers, but not usually young wide receivers on this type of a pace with this type of draft pedigree right out of the gate. - Yeah, and those three firsts, again, be selective of just, you know, that easily could be an elite team and they're just looking to stack and they're like, hey, this guy hit at 21 years old and the first three games looks like this and, you know, I'm just usually not in that position to draft that type of player in my rookie draft and now you're unloading and we always say, like, say those picks, what are you doing at quarterback? Like, all these other things, but a team that if they're coming to you about neighbors and they already got to eliminate at least the early, you know, bust potential there for a young wide receiver, you know, they didn't get, you know, a subpar outcome so far out of that and they're just like, oh, I'll cash in my picks. But they're literally one of the top one or two teams in the league, that's the one caveat I would put to that, which is, you know, all those picks are trendlining late and you would just like a team more in the middle. You would like a team with, you know, just going after this, but they've got holes where they've got, you know, things that could turn some of these picks, non-play off or, you know, just a variety of directions as opposed to a truly elite team. - Can I say one that I do like if you are trying to buy neighbors and actually while you were talking, just sent this out, is find a hot guy like James Cook who has a great start, has been scoring, you know, he could have had 30 plus points again this week if he got that one ball just barely on his fingertips, had tough to haul in, but something like that, I mean, he's what, 25, 26, you know, he's getting up to that running back age curve and we know what wide receivers can be and stuff like that. So James Cook in the future first, especially if you think it's going to be a non-play off first, that's how I would go about buying neighbors. - Yeah, yeah, I like that one. I mean, again, using one first as opposed to using three of your own firsts, you know, that, again, if you're a dominant team, you want to buy dominant players, I get it, and again, have selection bias there, you know, if you're looking to sell for three first, just make sure you check it out. Ryan is like classic for this, of making sure he crossed the tees, dots the eyes on really examining the power rankings of the league and how those picks do look. Second player here, Chuba Hubbard. What a big moment for Carolina's offense, Andy Dalton, Deontay Johnson, and Chuba Hubbard. Main stays there with big production moments in week three. Chuba Hubbard, let's remind folks, we've got Jonathan Brooks coming back at some point to crash the party, but Chuba Hubbard, opportunities abound for a guy that's basically, I think all of the years he's been in that 35 to 50% start rate bucket, so a guy that maybe you're running back to if you're in a pickle, but not necessarily an auto start player, felt more confident about him this past week than you would the first week or two. But here we are, and now you have a little more flexibility in the market. - Oh, what a difference a week makes. I mean, yeah, Andy Dalton, there was a stat that was one of my more favorite ones. It was the, Andy Dalton has the most passing yards in a single game for the Panthers as any starting quarterback for the game over the past 65 games. And oh, by the way, Andy Dalton has only started one game for the Panthers over the last 65 games. And so. - Does he have the top two now? - He's definitely got the top two now. I don't know if this one, it was 300 and some for his previous record, but just, you saw what it happened to the offense. It was a professional offense all of a sudden. You know, we're not getting the 140 yards total offense or anything like that. And so with that opening up and with it, you know, having an okay match up and stuff, it did make Chewba Hubbard look good. I do know that Brooks is coming back. My brain is more going, don't forget Brooks is out there. Can we try to get someone who either we've got someone that pops that we can turn into Brooks, or can we get someone who's like, I just want picks, just give me all the picks. I'll give it to anybody you want. And don't forget about Brooks, do go grab him 'cause he can be a real shot in the arm through the back third of the season and stuff like that whenever he does come back and kind of get healthy and learn the speed of the game. If this offense is actually clicking like this. So Chewba Hubbard though, a good stop gap, a good, hip, he might be, you know, following on one of those teams that hey, he really only did something one week and it might be a bad team and can I go get him for a reasonable price? So he's not a nobody, but the way we build these things out is we like to be deep enough that we can turn guys like this who, you know, we've had on a roster, we've had these backups unless we're really hurting, just kind of flip them into assets. Obviously draft capital is not in your starting lineup. You can then go get other backups. You can upgrade the backup guys, you're churning out, et cetera, et cetera. So good to talk about him and kind of what he's going for now off of a big game. - Yeah, highlight trade and I'll actually use it to highlight UTS trade calculator here. So Chewba Hubbard, you add David Montgomery to it. And again, two guys getting a workload. And I think for especially for starting running backs this time of year when others are going through strife, this is why we Hector the collector, a bunch of running backs, because you might have four, five, six NFL starters for a particular week and say, "Hey, I can catch a couple in." And this trade was Chewba Hubbard and Montgomery for a future first. And that's just, you know, that's over 100%. It's actually 151% profit in the trade calculator. So this is a monster deal, you know, in Superflex, especially where again Montgomery is a guy that gets about half the backfield. He's a touchdown, a volaturing, you know, tight proposition to have a good game or not. Hubbard eventually will be replaced by that pedigree of Jonathan Brooks. So again, timing this well, Montgomery, I'm not gonna say he oscillates in value all that much. People kind of know what he is. But Chewba Hubbard definitely does. And this is a strike while the iron is hot, tight deal. So if you say Chewba Hubbard's worth a second, you know, Montgomery's worth maybe a second to a second plus, you're kind of cashing that in for the future first consolidating there a little bit. So that's just a smashing deal. So the thing I like, there's two things I want to say about this is one, any trade that involves a first can look both directions completely different than what you think at first, just because of how much that value and variance on that first is. You know, we talk about you've got neighbors being drafted and going for three first right now. And he was going, let's say 103, 104-ish in the start up, or in the rookie drafts this year, versus if you had one 12, what that would be worth. And it's just, it's so, it vacillates based on that, but you want the shot, things happen. You know, people are usually overconfident of the things that they know, they know are going to happen. And you can take advantage of it with stuff like this. The other thing is, there may be a team who's just high score, things are great right now. And so you do something like this for two years out first, right? And again, you're just holding that acid in, and it's just a crew and interest, and it's going to peak when it's on the clock and stuff like that. The type of teams that make these type of trades, 'cause these are not really dynasty assets, and if we're building out our team with first, you want the big actual dynasty assets that you can ride for a while. I don't trust their ability to not screw it up by two years from now, right? So maybe you do go two years out, even if they're crushing it this year. And then obviously, and we'll hit on this every time we're talking picks, is a first and one quarterback or a second and one quarterback is going to be different than a draft pick in Superflex, which is going to be different than a draft pick in Superflex, tight and premium. So know you're scoring and kind of adjust the values based on that. - Another trade I would highlight is Chuba Hubbard and a third for Sam Darnold. Sam Darnold, I kind of play out these scenarios. And Darnold, he's playing his way towards a Baker Mayfield or Geno Smith pipe outcome that this could parlay into future work. This could parlay into a multi-year, a lot more allegiance type NFL contract. And this is something where, who's to say JJ McCarthy takes over for sure week one next season because we have a long way to go in this season. And so I look at this and say, "Chuba Hubbard, how long is this going to last?" The third round pick, that's not much to add, where Darnold actually gives you some higher level outs where you say, "I'm going to cascade this." Where Darnold in the future becomes something greater in my trading ventures. And so that's what I like from this one is that it didn't cost Hubbard in a second, it cost Hubbard in a third. And again, I think Darnold is the best asset there, but I also think it gives you more flexibility at a more premium position for down the line with whatever tinkering you want to do. - I think when Sam Darnold was the starter and JJ went down, we were able to turn one of our shares or only share in our co-owned leagues into two seconds. And I think we had to add a third, it could be mistaken, right? But I gotta imagine you can get two seconds for Darnold still. And my take on him, he had an injury scare this week, he should be fine to play. My take on him is very well coached. He's got Justin Jefferson making a whole bunch of reads easier for him than they've ever been at any of his other spots. And he's played twice at home, right? So he could get hurt, he could turn back into a pumpkin, but if you just in a vacuum, if you need to transition some of your assets over to quarterback, 'cause there's so many underperformers or injuries, Herbert loves all these things. I get it, I think that's a great way of doing it. The other thing is I think you can get two seconds or equivalent out of Darnold. And so I don't think Chubba and a Chubba, Hubbard, and a third is gonna get you two seconds. So yeah, I can see either way you wanna go with that, but that sounds like a good done. A good one, even if you've gotta move off of it quickly. - Last one, and it was a professional segue by you, Justin Herbert, that he is underperforming in terms of the fantasy side. He is also hurt with multiple injuries. And what we know about the DNA of this team, they're winning games, they're playing better defense, they're running the ball, and it's ball control. And you would say, the weapons are ideal, especially when you look back, and he had Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and others, in some of his big heyday moments. So probably not gonna be mobile. This window for Herbert as a bi stays open for quite some time here. And he might be, I love your thoughts on this, that he might be right now the biggest divide between, we're highly confident that he's a good NFL quarterback, but it's some rough fantasy times right now. And that divide, when does that divide change? Is the biggest question mark, but we don't have a lot of doubts about him, the player, and him having a lot of risk of complete erosion. It's like, we thought we knew you, that we don't have a lot of question marks in that regard. - Lots of takes on him. So yeah, I think he is, consensus. He's been a first round start-up pick for quarterback. For however many years now, I think he's gonna continue. I have a pet theory on, if you remember Lamar Jackson had the year where they just put all kinds of weapons around him, he went for MVP. We had Mahomes last year, they've added weapons this year, and he's doing better, and that was kind of his little watermark. Obviously Herbert would be my example of Kylo Murray, another one where this year they went out and they got him weapons, they upgraded around him, and you should be able to see ahead of time that he's going to be doing better. Justin Herbert, same idea, right? They did have to shrink his receivers by quite a bit, and that was all just salary cap dump. And then they had to go out and fix the right side of that line. They were really obviously invested in the O-line and stuff like that, and kind of built out the ground, not that building out the O-line is necessarily gonna give him all these wide receivers, and he's gonna go and set records and be number one overall as far as fantasy quarterbacks. But I do think they're building it upright. I think he could be an easy, he's going to have a career low year this year and instantly improve next year, right? The only thing I will say on him is, I don't think that there's necessarily a, like the buying window is gonna be open. I think this is gonna continue, right? Where you can get a hold of him cheaper now. I don't know. - I mean, already thinking about him and startup drafts in January, right? - Oh, absolutely. I mean, are we talking like third round? Is he gonna go in the DAC range? You know what I mean? Like from this past year, so. - I don't think he will. - Still hang on a second, maybe. - Yeah, I'm thinking somewhere in the mid-second, plus or minus, right? - All right, and we'll see. I'll take the later on that, of the betting line. You're the house. I'll take, I'll take beyond mid-second. We'll call it two, two, six and a half. - I mean, what happens though, if they, they drafted the first round wide receiver this year, they bring in a T-H. - I said January. - I said January. - Okay, okay. - Okay, I mean. - You know, one thing about Herbert, like I was, so I look at it as they're passing points per dropback and I don't think people realize how low Herbert's volume has been. I know he missed part of the game, but he played most of it in week three. 64 pass attempts. There's some guys that already have a hundred. You know, pretty easily. - Week two, Jared Goff had, I think, 57. - Yeah, exactly. Yeah, basically one game versus Herbert's 2.75 games. 0.42 points per dropback, which is higher than Brock Purdy, higher than Patrick Mahomes, very similar to Kyler Murray. Right there, everyone's talking about Baker Mayfield through three weeks. It's right around Baker Mayfield's range. So again, what he's doing on a per dropback basis is very good. The problem, not many dropbacks. So again, you look at maybe opponents off with the run game. The fact that Herbert isn't adding anything as a runner. So all these things kind of come together, but again, he's playing just fine. Like everything kind of checks out to say, things are going well on the front of Justin Herbert. And like we said about the player. - Let's go with a couple. - The other thing, micro though, I want to say on Herbert is, and this, you know, health is health, and that could be a problem and stuff like that. But he's coming off of a game before this that was at Carolina where game script just said, don't throw it at all, right? I mean, they controlled the whole thing. We saw, you know, Knight, I mean, sure he did more with him, but there was only, I think, week one, 19 attempts, passing total by the Saints. - What college stuff? I mean, yeah. - And then this week, and yes, injuries can go against this, but this week he was at Pittsburgh. And I mean, that probably at Pittsburgh is going to be, at least while JJ Watt and the gang are healthy, the hardest match up you can get, right? So he's got Kansas City coming up, which is at home at least, but it's still a very good defense and then a buy. And so things could improve, but I can tell you the story as to why he's had a slow start. - And he's a guy. - Also the rushing, is it really going to get better with foot and ankle and all this stuff? He's not a guy that just runs out there going, I want to get 30 yards rushing in this game. Like he's not wired that way, like he'll do it. But I think the injuries are probably going to really affect his mindset in that regard, and he's going to look not to do it whenever possible. - And he's just one that, you know, we're week three of this year and we're already projecting, hey, let's put a big red circle around this guy to make sure we have him on our roster startup next year and get the discount. So I think selling him now, buying him, you don't necessarily have to be super urgent because this could be a team that's kind of out of it. This could be, you know, a team that wants to set, but like his value is not necessary. His cost isn't necessarily going to suddenly spike back up to full price if you wait a few weeks. So on the one hand there, but I think everyone - Yeah, this is like a knocking on doors, right? Keep knocking on doors, see about the price. Hey, you know, it's almost like letting them know you're interested, hey, just if Herbert's, you know, this, no, I'm available, I'm here. - But he's kind of a Roth IRA where you know that if you sold him for the prices he's going for now and you can send some of these examples you send to me, you can say, but you're going to regret it, I think. - All right, so let's finish out with a couple examples here. First one, Justin Herbert for Aaron Rodgers and a 25 first. - That's a terrible deal. I would never sell Herbert for that. - Well, no, it's more of a buy. - Oh, for a buy? - Absolutely. Again, not all of these are just straight buys or sells. I mean, you can kind of choose your own adventure here, so. - Oh, sure, this is brilliant, absolutely brilliant. - Yeah, you're giving him Aaron Rodgers, he's coming off the white hot game, you know, so life is good, right? You're giving him a starting quarterback, you're taking the albatross of Herbert off their hands and the price is only a first round pick. - If you've ever even in school done like the fake trading account where you're buying and selling stocks and stuff like that and you try to pinpoint the highest time to sell and the lowest time to buy and stuff like that, like everything I think before and after this, Rodgers in the first wasn't getting him and so you're kind of just hitting this valley that you're lucky to get him for this and cash it in every time. - Yeah, two more here. We got Justin Herbert and Derek Henry for Sam Darnold, George Pickens in the first. - So market value, this is more than the Rodgers in the first. - I'm still taking the, I mean, me personally, I've taken the Herbert side, right? - Yeah, me too. - Yeah, I think this might be thrown a little bit by kind of like we talked about with Garrett Wilson. We're a little lower on Pickens on the market. - Yeah, and again, this is a good cash. This is a perfect way to do it on someone like the Sam Darnold, right? You know, I mean, you're turning him into something a lot more tangible and liquid for the future. Last one here, and again, this is interesting when you consider the timing of, you know, not a good game for the other quarterback involved in this deal, we got CJ Stroud for Justin Herbert and a first. - I get it, I think market, that's okay. This is a great example of what happens with that first is going to determine kind of what happens in this trade. This seems like a, you don't want to dip down too much from Herbert and the other guy might be out of it. Like, this seems like the Herbert guy is out of it or is 0 and 3 or is thinking he's out of it. And so you're going to Stroud and he's not dipping too low, but I can see, I can see taking the Stroud side if I'm confident that that's going to be a bottom half or even worse first, just because I think Stroud, what you can recoup in that value.
