Listen back to Paul Cooney, Barry Ferguson and Peter Grant as they talk all things Scottish football.

This is the Gore radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts call '08, '08 at 17, 17, 700. And where do we start tonight? Do we talk about Rangers in the air, on the way to Sweden for the game, against Malmo tomorrow night in Europa League? Do we talk about the former Celtic captain, who is maybe wanted by St. John's and Scott Brown is one of those on the list? Or do we talk about toast and beans? Yep, Barry Ferguson is here, so too is Peter Grant, and the reason is that it was doing Barry that you and Paul were going apparently it all started off, and I've just thrown this to you as we start, it was over toasting beans pre-match. It was chicken and beans. Maybe I had this slice of toast on the side. What was the problem? I just didn't think beans was the right thing to eat, but I was brought up with them, Paul, I continued to eat beans right through my career, I didn't think it did many harm, and obviously we had that major disagreement on it, but just to let you know I had cheesy beans, just didn't I? Yeah, do you love those? I love it, I love it, I'm posting cheese with beans on top, beautiful. Barry Ferguson is here, if you're getting ready for dinner, give us a call, '08, '08, '17, '17, 700, also from Bells Hill, originally Peter Grant, Peter, you and the beans, 100%, I love the beans, Paul, with what? Toss, and? Toss and beans, I know it all over now, but I made it all night, yeah, pine beans, and I hadn't had it for ages, and I loved every money, I bought it in bread and butter, I was fabulous, honest I got it in my mouth, but she put it around, I just couldn't believe it was a surprise for me, and I got that long. I mean, I was a professional for 22 years, and I probably had beans every single game, but granted, how long were you playing for, Geez, oh, I don't know, I don't know, I did the two of them, exactly, don't let the person that seemed changing that really fairness and like that, it was big Pierre van Huydonk came in, and he started taking chicken curry, pre-match, no, honest, goodness, I could not believe it, wasn't I, pick on him as well, and I know why the defenders stayed away for you, was he deadly, big Pierre, if you want to speak to Peter, I think we all know, oh wait, oh wait, 17, 17, you can hear whatever you want here in the programme tonight, Rangers in action tomorrow, we'll talk Scott Brown in a moment or two, he's one of a number of candidates, but Air United, they might lose the man who's taken them to the top, albeit that Falkirk have two games in hand, could he be on his way into the premiership, just after going to Air United last season, but Barry, welcome back, good to see you, you were down south with your son who's recovered and played well last night, yeah, down it was his birthday, good to spend a day with him, and obviously had the game last night, a good 3-0 victory, clean sheet, as I said at half, that's what you want, so yep, never miss any of the kids' birthdays, whether they're here or anywhere in the country or even abroad, we've always done it, so it was good to spend about a time, and Peter said, how is the wee fella, he's 6'5, he's a giant, he's doing fine and I've been watching these games as he comes through, make sure he gets eight clean sheets and then that team and staying in that team, so he's had his injury problems but he's done some tasks that they will to get back in, sure has, Barry, Rangers off to Malmo, massive game tomorrow just to start, end of Europa League, how you feeling about it, what's the news? Well, looking forward to it, Paul, it's the first game in Europa League, ideally you would love it to be the Champions League but wasn't, they never made it through, obviously Dynamo Kiev, putting them out, but it's a winnable game, Paul, I've done obviously a bit of homework on Malmo, sitting top of the league after 24 games, 11 points ahead, good victory at the weekend for now against Harkin, some decent players, but not a top team, Paul, so Rangers have to begin over to Malmo with a mindset of coming back, wait with three points and I think it's possible, there's no doubt they play very attack minded, they'll try and attack Rangers but Rangers need to be prepared for that and as I said, it's a very winnable game for Rangers, some former Rangers players and you'll know the name is with split loyalties for Leopelander, more recently and also Robert Pritz, who played against you in your debut piece, I don't remember the glowing flocks as you would say and as I said, I thought he was a really good player, Robert, you know, he played a really good player, I mean Bobby Russell and all that but that particular team, really good side, you know, Redford, David Cooper's all these guys, you know, and I thought they were real good players, but Pritz done very well for them and he had a very good career, I thought it rangers because he was one of the first former's that come in and started this round, so you mentioned some players there, for example, David Cooper, I mean there was only one David Cooper, I guess what I'm thinking is, four Rangers, who's going on, Lock it tomorrow night, what you thinking, because you know Mamo, they are tough. Yeah, I've got a slight concern because there's a lot of experience in the Mamo team and I think they've only got about four games left, Paul, in the season, I'm still thinking Rangers are trying to get up to speed. If I said to Barry just now and anybody, probably even the Rangers supporters, they've asked them their team, they were a rough idea, but everybody with a definite opinion who they would have and their team were mean by the way of speaking welfare and we're talking about Celtic, if it's going to be a big game tomorrow, we could probably start, pick the start in 11 and I think that's probably the difference and that's my weak concern about Rangers, get out of the Mamo game because when you look at the age group, I think there was only about two under 25, the rest of them were all late 20s telly and some in their mid 30s and that's a lot of experience and it depends how dangerous handle it. Barry, I went for Rangers in the cup at the weekend, big bean back at iBrucks and you've been in it, iBrucks today, because one of the talking points, I see it's social media, they're saying they've made a mistake because the view is not very good, so you've been there like that. I had a lot of messages over the last couple of days and I thought to myself, do you know what, I go and see it were more nice, so Rangers are kind enough to let me in and have a look and when I sat down up the top of the bottom of the Copeland stand, the view of his fine pull, I could see the full pitch, so that puts to rest that a lot of people saying that the view is not great, if you do stand up at the back, right I get you can't see it, but I'll see it's here for you to sit down, so when you sit down you get a few view of the personal problem at all and John Gilligan, the interim chairman, mentioned the Copeland Rhodes stand and obviously it affected Rangers start of the season, but this is what he said about it. I mean it's really hopeful but we've got to be respectful of local authority approval, it's out on fire and insurance using things, it's all a lot of things now, doctorally we're pretty much there. And he also said remember this was to improve the facilities for disabled guys. And to be honest Paul I was really impressed, it's a brilliant facility for the disabled fans, they're under cover, plenty of room for them because obviously previous it's been difficult to get them in and seated in areas of this stadium which is going to be really safe, so yep after seeing it today I was really impressed and his acting chairmen says they are hopefully they get the go ahead to open the full stand for Sunday against us. Stephen Rasside, a huge mother and Scotland fan who has gone round all the grounds in Scotland looking at the facilities Peter, he does a great job and so he'll be, I'm sure there should be a bit of a highland press by it, I was impressed by it today and it's good to know Peter, it just shows you social media these days, there's some good things on it, there's some horrors as well and that one's not horror, but misinformation. No but it's good to the fact that Barry's 10 time out, he's scheduled to go and look along and because then he can talk about it freely and then you know it's coming from the horse's mouth the view is absolutely perfect so that's all we can take it as and I'd be very very surprised you know if there's done work that you couldn't see half the picture, I'd be really surprised at that so I'm not shocked at Barry's come back with that and it's pleasing as well because it's vital that you facilitate for all your supporters. So what about Scott Brown then, what a job he's been doing at Air United and his name is on the list certainly it's in Johnson to take over from Craig Levine who left two weeks ago, listen two weeks ago, wasn't it, he took training, did the media and then they said to Craig, so other names that have been mentioned as well, the Lambos, Tien Lynch and the Aberdeen coach Peter Leavin who did a good job, what do you make little for Scott Brown then to make that jump which may happen, apparently he's keen to speak to them to go to McDermott. Do you think there's a massive difference between St Johnson and Air United? For me, not massive, you know when I look at the players and the various Scots got them playing, they've got that winning habit as well which is important, he's done a terrific job there, he's been backed to be fair, you know they're obviously they're paying decent money compared to the other, he's opened a new bit of the stand if I'm correct as well, that's all been done. So they've had some investment as well so, listen if you're going on these results there's absolutely no doubt you should be in the running and it'd be great for another Scots lad to get an opportunity but I'm saying the difference in Air United because when I was young I used to go when the Air United were in the talk league, you know as well. So St Johnson at this moment in time I've been apart from Calum's period, I know it's probably right done well but Calum having the double header with the cups was massive, apart from that there's not been a time where it's been sustained and that can quickly change and it depends on support and people always say, see if you've got a good chairman who works for you and helps you stay there as long as you possibly can, you know stay wearing them because they're good people because through the bad times which you will have, you know they will sit with you. There's quite a passion there just now, it's not, it's Somerset Park which is different to McDermott, I'm not knocking them but it is different Perth, what do you think Barry? Scott Brown maybe. It's an interesting one that I echo at Grant, he says, he has been well backed, he's got a good team, they're sitting top in a legal beat, they've played a couple of games more than Livy and Falkock and as I said he's got a good chairman behind them so I'm sure they would want to speak to them and see what's in Johnson I've got to say, look they've got a new American owner, he might have a bit of money to say that you know what come January come next summer, you can go in and get X, Y and Z and at this moment in time it looks to me if he's got, is that a good club area in the United? Yeah the problem is Paul and I ain't bad at like you me, so Scott's doing a really fantastic job here, you go east and Johnson and you're in the Premier League and you're playing against a completely different standard player, you know bigger budgets, all of a sudden he's still doing a terrific job, working really hard but he's losing games, all of a sudden people are no care how good a coach you are and how good you are, all of a sudden they're saying it's no what, it has worked because he's still doing his job well but financially can't bridge that gap with the quality of player, then that becomes slightly different because he's still doing a really good job but the question would be then or he made a mistake leaving here and that is the things that Scott would have to find out and Barry's right, you'd have to go and have a chat and say well where does this take us, it's okay saying I will back you if it isn't a good particular well results, why is why you're trying to build this but there's no guarantees in football for chairman, that's for sure. I wouldn't imagine there's a huge difference in budgets either, exactly because there's some of the signings that you've made, good players that are united and obviously the players that are at St Johnson but listen we don't know when on the one side we've not got the budgets in front, but I'll be interested to see what his decision would be if St Johnson said right you're the number one, me one you come here, then he's got a big decision to make. We're going to take some calls shortly here on the Go Radio Football Show, O8, O8 17, 17, 700, the top two are in tonight, Barry and Peter and Barry, since we last saw you one of your old teammates has gone from Scottish football, for the meantime anyway, the former hearts manager, Stephen Nice with at the weekend, that performance I see Andrew McKinley, the chief executive at heart said today if there'd been more of a better second half performance there were two one down, weren't they at halftime but they just didn't see it, we know, is it 11 games without a win, what do you make it by Stephen Nice but was it inevitable? Yeah because last thing you've got to win games of football Paul when certainly with a budget and he certainly made a lot of signs in the summer and I said if he didn't get a result it would have been hard for him to keep his job, look I hate seeing managers lose a job, no doubt about it, look Naze will come back, he'll get a job hopefully in time but there's the results and the squad that he's got there and he won't make himself the results just weren't good enough. He made so many changes apparently just looking at the research Peter and he made sometimes five changes, he didn't seem to get a settled side and yet it started so well opening day drawing the Rangers. Well I said at the start of the season Paul I thought they'd have a stronger squad, the Niners? Yeah and I don't change that, I said that at the time, unfortunately for Stephen I find it quite bizarre actually in 45 minutes I was saying half to see so as a response, I found that absolutely incredible that he's saying that, it's interesting that Tony Bloom's been mentioned from Brighton, so what's this made, I'm thinking Ray, what's the connection with Brighton, everybody's forgetting David Weir's there, David Weir was a big player obviously harps as well, exactly so there may be something there, you may be find someone from Brighton a coach down there that maybe comes in at the forefront of that, Tony Bloom's going to put this 10 million pound in if that's going to happen because I find it was either using that company's weight, I don't find it bizarre, that's football nowadays but the bottom line is I get my job with them firmly on a game that we lost 4-1 by all accounts, the German consortium were there, they seen the team play, they'd watched as so many times at Aloua playing so well and that's why they gave me the job because it was a question I asked them, they'd been beat 4-1 to get lost 4-1, we lost 4-1 in one of the games and it was only time we don't firmly beat as in other mini games and they said on that performance, so when people know how you work I think that's important, so you don't get that on stats but you'll look at some of these results but if some of these get a fantastic group of players you know and all of a sudden you have not been getting more out of your group of players, there's different ways you're looking at it but I think that heart's connection with David Weir and all that and there in Tony Bloom, there could be something in the background of that. Of course Barry, who did we speak about more than anyone earlier this year, probably Lauren Shantard, or listeners were calling in saying surely it's going to sign for Rangers, this season it's been a different story for him, no goals. Yeah, very unlike him, obviously last season, player of the year, the amount of goals he scored, I thought his old round game he spoke about in a number of times on the show that I thought he'd come on so much as an old round football player but he struggled, the team I've struggled, I mean if you watch hearts which I have a few times this season, not creating a lot of chances and he feeds off chances, he feeds off cross balls and obviously service into the box and look at the end of the day, if you don't get that service then you can't do anything about it but he looks to me as he has struggled at this moment in time as the group at a hearts but listen, you don't lose it overnight, Lauren Shantland's a top striker poll, he does it hard this thing in the game and that scores goals and I'm sure all it'll take is one off his backside and then he'll kick on and score many goals this season for hearts. Alex Neal is one of the front runners, Peter as you know, the former Stoke City Hamilton Aggies and Sunderland Boss and Stephen Robinson, his name has come up again. Well Stephen Robinson's done a remarkable job, you know in building a few times, not just once, you know he's done it a few times, Alex Neal's had a lot of experience now been down south and whatever, okay he's jumped from job to job and it didn't quite work out for him at some times but you don't lose that ability, the interesting thing is he talked about Lauren Shantland for me is I watched him itself take part and if you're doing recovery runs into your own 18 yard box, we said how much Lauren's had improved and we're talking about it. Lauren's glibs in the final thud, his length played so much better but he lives in the final thud, he was in the defendant's third at Celtic Park, I was attacked, he had to do two strikers deep, win the ball back then play early for Vargas to run, well how is Lauren Shantland's only scored goals, 75 yards for the opposition goal, that is impossible poll. Unless you're dising by that. Yeah probably even that, but some say if you've run 75 yards to score a goal at some possible, you know so as strikers, we've got to be fair on that, people will say it looks heavy, but some pleasure, shape like that, Gelsi, it's not what you do with that, if you're not creating chances and you don't get the ball in the ball because you're not going to score goals. Who's going to be the new manager, we'll find out soon they're going to decide I think during the international break which is coming up the following week, O8, O8, 17, 17, 700 on Friday night, Barry said, watch out for Arnie Engels, he could prove to be even more valuable than the man who left for 25 million a few weeks ago, Matt O'Reilly. Peter, what do you think, you worked with Matt O'Reilly, you've seen Engels? I've been really really impressed, and I guess the thing I can say about him is not many people have talked about Matt, Matt was brilliant, Matt was brilliant for Celtic, there's absolutely no doubt about that, and he'll have a wonderful career at Brighton, but nobody's seen all of us, Matt O'Reilly, we've lost his assist, we've lost this, I've been really really impressed with Engels since he came in, his movement's very good, he runs without the ball, if he spoke about that before, about Barry, about midfielders making their runs without the ball, he came in and gave a spark to the team along, we couldn't at the weekend when they came on, and listen, he's been excellent so far, he just knows the game, he understands the game, he finds space well, but as I say the big thing for me as he runs without the ball which gives Celtic slightly different because again, but now I thought it was excellent again, he's all round play ball, he's very understated in the respect to that, he's been outstanding and he finds himself out and that tells you how good the Engels has been since he came in, and he plays, for a young man he plays without nadigans and that confidence, which Barry will tell you when you're playing for a Celtic out of range as you have to have that, and I believe in that, and especially come into play with someone like Matt O'Reilly, and a little of spoken about Matt tells you how well he's done. Barry, what a start for Engels, yeah, and listen, Matt O'Reilly was a top player, I think there is a high possibility of potential that he could be even better, but the thing I think he's got over, Matt O'Reilly is more mobile, I would say, Matt O'Reilly's still got about the pitch, but he looks more athletic to get what I'm saying, but listen, I've certainly been impressed by him, a young age, step up taking penalties as well, it shows you that he's confident in his own ability. When Lawrence Shanklin, the chief exec Andrew McKinley was asked about him today, any offers what happened over recent times with the striker? The last offer we made was rejected, so there's no offer that sits out there at the moment. Obviously if his advisors wanted to speak to us, or he wanted to speak to us, then we'd have a conversation, we didn't receive any offers. No offers in, and also I think he was referring there to the contract, he was offered a new contract some months ago, but he chose not to, he stands to make a lot of money when his contracts are. I think he's got the right pull, obviously the season, he's had, he maybe thinks he deserves a bigger contract, I don't know the answer now, so what he's earning, but I would imagine he's one of the highest earners at Hertz, and listen to that, I think he'll probably see it out towards the end of the season, Paul and he's got the right to do so, because I do think there will be interest in Lon Shanklin, even if he's going through a band spell at this moment in time, I still think come, January time, there will be interest, but it's interest in it, yes, the Chief Executive Hertz said, there was no offers in the summer. Chief Executive, that surprises me, it's a bit of a conundrum, oh wait, oh wait, 17-17-100, Andrew McKinley's name's been mentioned a number of times, is he the future CEO of Rangers, nobody knows at the moment, John Gilligan know the interim chairman spoke about the must-haves for the new CEO. I need to have a strong business, acumen, knowledge, experience, need to have run businesses for its pressure and they need to deliver, it can't really be a comfortable business, because the stress and the pressure have been to see your football club play big, need to have a great communication, need to be a good communicator and get into people, I need to have a tremendous work ethic, because it's good without saying, it's unbelievably difficult, it really has, and life needs to be a good person, somebody decent people, I like decent people. Barry, quite a CV is needed, we don't know Andrew McKinley, do you have a view? I don't really know, Paul, I've been honest, but what I do know is it's an important role that Rangers will be desperate to get to the end of and decide who they want to go for, because that's now a number of months, but John Gilligan's in, he's in, he bring a bit of stability at this moment in time because there's been a lot of noise, whether that's about the stadium, the team, the recruitment, there's a lot of things going on just now, so hopefully joining the board of directors will get something shorted pretty soon, because I do believe that they won't get a CEO in, that's the first appointment, and then after that it'll be the chairman. And get a house outside Glasgow, that I just mean, because of the work. It's 24/7 Paul. Must be. Yeah, yeah, and I heard John give us what is needed for the CEO of Rangers, and I totally agree with him, it has to be somebody who has got experience, who's been under a lot of pressure in previous jobs, good experience, a good person, so I've been stressed that you see who they eventually go for, because Peter's a Euro club at Celtic, they had some really tough years, Peter Lawell to be fair enough chairman, but as chief exec, he was transformational, along with him, Fickis McCann set up the stadium, but Peter Lawell did such a job. Well, it was a good up there, Paul, at that particular time, that you never really had much, and then newspapers, they just got on with, everybody was asking questions about it, but I'm sure there were disagreements, there were a hell of a lot of people in there, but for me, it's something you keep now in closed doors, and that was the only thing I'd have said, John Gilligan coming out and talking about Dave King and whatever, I thought Dave King was wrong, he came on, if he hadn't spoken to the board first, to say, "Listen, we need to get our heads together here and ask questions, and let's see if we can sort something out." Then if he goes to the radio fine, but if he didn't speak to them first, I think that was out of order, and vice versa, John should have just batted away and said, "Listen, I've talked to Dave away from it, let's things settle down first, the most important thing is trying to get the team right on, the football pitch for getting back to Ibrokes, and let them talk about their business and say that, "I know supporters not want to do, but sometimes you've got to keep your house in order as if there's not, that's inflating." I think Dave King, sorry, chose to speak out with, I don't think he was directly, he was on big interview and talk sport, he was in the right case. Yeah, I agree with that, but as I say, I think he should have spoke to the other guys that range us first, if he was going to do that, because then they'd be aware of it, and then you can agree or disagree, and they'd say, "Well, listen, let's keep that to ourselves, and then let's try and watch something out." I just don't like that in fine, because it's the top of its Scottish football here, the two institutions that we're talking about, Celtic and Rangers, so you don't want to see these petty squabbles, you want that, you need to front, where you can see the difference at Celtic Park at this moment in time when everybody's together, you doubt we saw it, you spell last year, you felt there was a roughness about it, and we struggled because of it, and it's happened before, and it turns quickly that way, you know, when you start that petty fine, and I just feel Rangers should be above that at this moment in time, and hopefully they get something sorted out for theirs, and they're all torn, but the football side, and that's the most important thing, any football cup, because everything gets brushed under the cap as long as the football's going well, and that's the most important thing. This is the Go Radio Football Show, listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go, let's go. Oh, can you, Barry Ferguson, and Peter Grant, this time tomorrow night, Rob McLean will be here, so we're upping the ante tomorrow in the standard, and it's going to be Jamie Murphy who will be with us, and Stephen McGinn, but we'll get the top two here tonight with Peter and Barry talking about... The young pups, young pups, yeah, you talk about Rob there, but a few people on there, but the toast and beans, you can't beat the toast and beans, yeah, pie chips and beans as well. I couldn't say what on the earth I did actually say to him, letting off all the pillows that got a wee bit. What did you say? I bit the end of the day, Paul. What's, and a bonus weight, wasn't there, if it was a Phil Tanny Bend? This is Barry and Paula Gwen, right, I asked him about it, okay, I don't mean how many, was it? 57. Very good. Yeah. Maybe a couple of spoonfuls. Really, I feel like... Yeah, just to go with my matcha, I like boiled chicken, very good, just to give it a wee bit of a taste, and I didn't see anything wrong with that, it never done me any harm in my career, and granted, as you just mentioned, and you know what, I've played by so many players, it's a grumble-dagging beans, beans and toasts as granted, so yeah, it was a bit like, taking a bite with it, what did you say? Sacra-blur? Blur? Blur. But a sack no manager? Oh, yeah. Big beans, oh, my career, that is one thing, I was very superstitious, that's one thing that I was during my career, and I wasn't a gunny, as I said, I don't think I cut the spoonfuls, your beans would put me off my gamer and make me unfair. Was the reasoning by us because he thinks her soul and beans are something, is that? Yeah, even at that, he took your soul off the table and tomato cake chopping and stuff like that is. Oh, no. So how did he react when you gave him the wee bit of variables? What did he say? Didn't take it too well, but it wasn't a little bit of a rollin' about it, and I was just like, listen, I've had beans at that stage, Paul, I was what, I was probably, what, 26, 27, I was, yeah. I was in an experienced play, but I played a lot of games, I played a few hundred games in that kind, I knew how to look after myself, in terms of what I liked before the game, and what I've made me feel good, and so, yep. You deserve respect. I mean, that's the thing, if I'm gonna manage the last person, when I'm looking at Barry Ferguson, that team is worrying about what he's eating. I've been being the rest of the meat he's eating because of his performance, is it that particular thing? I'm not saying that because he's sitting there, but that's what you've got to do as a manager, you've got to read the room, and obviously Paul didn't read the room very well, you know, that's important as a manager when you're going there, because it's all different types of characters as well, so everybody's not the same, and maybe somebody would speak to Barry on his own and say, what is the real reason what you do there? I had no problem, that's not an issue, because you've done it all your career, that's not an issue, I'm just saying I'm a bit get to it, it's a lack of respect for the character, wasn't it? For sure, I mentioned it, it was. I think there was no beans allowed by a can, but less than a minute at home. I hadn't beans, that's my regret getting there. Yeah, it's Frank Paul, that's the young boys, isn't it, boys? You coach them all right, you get all the nutritionists out in Paul, everything's done for them now, everything, absolutely everything's done for them, so when they go home, I say, I'm not your mum and dad, I'm not your wife, you may be going to McDonald's, you may be going to whatever, takeaways, I can't tell you, I'm only telling you this is what I think's the best for you, it helped you, I'm giving you the best advice we possibly can, but it's not there to hold your hand, that's the most important thing, because your performance will soon tell Paul if you're not eating right and you're not drinking right, your performance will soon tell you, your health wise will soon tell you, so you don't need that, so for that six, seven hours you're in that training room, that's when you sort emboss them a little bit, if you want to see it that way, see the rest of your time, do you think free? Yep, listen, I could understand if it was four, five, tens of beans a day, but it wasn't a case, Paul as I said, you would be lucky if it was a few spoonfuls, no you've got the ladle, it goes in, one, two, that was a job done, Jack's on the line, he's asking, what's your team, what do you think the Rangers team will be in Malmo tomorrow night, I'm going to go with Jack, but do you want to just now talk about what I'm going to go to have a Neil, John Sutter, Pro Paul and Yefti, I'll go with Conor Barren and Deo Mandi, I'll go with on the right journey, Tom Lawrence, Bizrami and Dessus through the middle, Dessus with a double at the weekend, Tom Lawrence. Yeah, Graves ain't go, I don't know if you've seen the finish, but I'm very, very good finish it and listen, he's got his critics and I know in terms he's no the striker that everybody would love, but I tell you what, he scores goals, that's another double at the weekend, I don't know what he's telling exactly at this season, but as it's seven, again it's a good return and one thing that you always say about the big guy is, he gives it everything, he might know by everybody's cup of tea, but I tell you what, if he keeps going goals, he'll do for me. Where was my Realis's top goal score in season? Interesting, see that, there were only three goals last year, Dessus was. But that's what I'm saying, so he said that, you can chew like a good goal score on record, I mentioned him because obviously he's got a plan with Malmo, he scored the two goals. That's why he's on, wasn't it? Yeah, and he was talking about Van Brancoste, who liked him as a coach and whatever, but that's interesting thing, I'm saying because I'll look at his work ethic and I'll look at Cheulex work ethic compared to but Malmo, I'm not an anthropologist, I've never seen him that often apart from the replying to Celtic, and that's what I would like to know that a ton was in the goals because their attitudes looked much better than Malmo, and they still get secreted and says to me, "The big fella always used to think I'll be a bit mugged up because the fans loved him in the respect to that, but they never had any back up, his professionalism was questioned more than one occasion, and I'll look at these two boys and I'm like, I'm saying, 'Deso scores goes constantly, you know, it gets any positions to issue, it's going more, of course, and it was the same mutual like, I felt like as well with your like, and I thought that was the difference, but that's why I was asking what, my real is it's top goals going, the season was for Rangers." Who you're looking for tomorrow night, Barry, big nights for, I see Jenny's been speaking about his run at Ajax a few years ago, injury prevented him, go all the way, you're looking for him tomorrow night? Yeah, he's got that bit of experience in Europe, Paul, so he needs to stand tall, he's one of the more experienced players, but I looked right through the team, I'm expecting a good performance, first game in Europe, I want to go off to one and start, look, it'll be difficult, they are well into the season, they've got some decent players as I've said, but the beatable, the beatable, I watched about four to five highlights, they're games over the last 46 weeks, and as I said, they have got good players, I'm not going to deny that, but I've got top end players, so Rangers have got to go with the mindset that they can certainly get a result. Hicks the benefits, of course, formally at Celtic, but he's injured too, no chance of seeing him. Yeah, there is a boy at Pledon, Belgian, Paul Hicks the top goal scorer now, so Phillip, come on, I don't know, I know for a bit I think he played with, and I like the boy, I think he's a top goal scorer, so there's a few in there, but I've noticed that I've very experienced age-wise team, you know, compared to Rangers, and that's what I think they may have the nod, and the body rightfully touched on the hang of only four or five games left in the season. We reckon Morell has had about 30 goals in 2018-2019, which may have been his biggest season. The manager has been speaking about Jeff Day and about transfers and out at Rangers. Yeah, of course, and we wanted him already in January, and he wanted to come also, but at that moment it was stopped by his team, but we stayed in touch all these months, and he showed also really desire to come, and to fight for that, so yeah, of course, I said it so many times already, it was the end of a cycle, we had a lot of players in the squad who were over there, the best periods, we had seven players going out of the building for free, or could go out for free, there was some we wanted to keep, but they could earn much more money somewhere else, so they made that choice. So it was a hard way to start a rebuild, and it just started in that way, we could not do everything in one window, but it's good now that people start to see the young talented players who came in, that they have the quality now, or for the future, for sure, to become important Rangers players, and I understand that in the beginning there are there is skepticism about that, because players coming in who never played at this level, so fans want to see that, but if I learned one thing about this club is that the fans know really well what quality is, and they desire quality, so we've been looking for that with, yeah, in the pool, with the money we had, what was not much compared to other teams, to find really quality for the short term, but for sure for the longer term. Barry, it's not Champions League money, we know that, but two years ago, Rangers made a good profit from the run all the way to the final in this tournament. Yeah, they're still a good bit of coin, and they're tournament pool. Well, it's not at Champions League level, but they're still money to be made, so listen, when you win games with football and you get extra money, so that's got to be an incentive, because obviously, with other money comes in, the manager will be hoping that, because in East County, to go and strengthen it again in January, and I know it's a rebound, but now quite a lot of players have been in the building now, a few months apart from his Rami and the boy from 500 who came in in the last day, but now they should be getting accustomed to what it's all about, and now they need to start getting judged now, and that's, you get judged on winning games of football, and that's the pressures that it come with Rangers, but I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game, got a bit excited about playing in Europe, albeit it's only the Europa League, but it's a good opportunity, as I said, Paul, when I looked at the draw, Rangers have got some really tough games, but this one's a real winnable game in my eyes. Since we last saw both of you, we got the draw for the League Cup, Premier Sports Cup, Peter, so your old team Celtic up against Aberdeen, it's a great tie, Rangers up against Marvel, Rangers defending title holders, what you're thinking is it shaping up? I was just laughing, Paul, because of how Celtic Rangers never came out there. Yeah, I mean, the balls must be a roasting. You're the best yourself. But as I say, not listen, it's a great good opportunity, Aberdeen, I've done fantastic so far, people say they've not played anybody, but the way he's got them believing, the way he's got it, the support, the pitourgery, believing, I think that's important for some formers, and the mind will be sitting there, and Barry's been there himself. He's sitting there and you think to yourself, yeah, we're going all right and everything's going okay. Let's see how we are when we have a couple of bad results. You know, when things don't go particular well for us, then you see, did they get back to their old ways? I think they've got a little bit of experience they've brought in and have handled it well. It seems to be a noise way about a football club, and I'm sure he never would have said to get him shinny, he can't eat beans. You know, so I think he's read that really well. I know he was mentioned, he was there before the end of the season, so he's seen different things there, and they can come in a little bit fresher and clearer in his mind, but game credit, it's a tough draw, listen, semi-finals, they're one step away, and if there's one place you don't want, it was a semi-final, because you want to get to that final, everybody's desperate to get to that final, so you have that day out there without opportunity to win a trophy, and it's self-taking Rangers, that's what you're expected to do, so I expect self-taking Rangers to be in the final. Barry, that would be instead of thinking of the all-firm game coming at the turn of the year, December 15th, isn't it? Oh, is it the 15th? It's the 15th? I thought it was the 17th, isn't it? Oh, you might be right, you're usually right, but it's middle of December anyway, yeah. Well, listen, I've got to just be a brutal honest, I do think it's got to be Rangers in Celtic, and I know our baden are going great guns just now, but I think Celtic are far too strong, and look, mother will have done brilliant to get into a semi-final, but you're at Hamden, you've got to be looking at making sure you get into that final in the 17th, is it? 15th, is it? Sunday the 15th, yeah, is it? Not like all the sons, both of them. Is that right? No, that was a shock, yeah. Take him there for his birthday. For Celtic, I think the only worry at the moment is maybe not so much Alster Johnson, but what about Cameron Carter-Vickers? This was the manager after the win at the weekend. Yeah, we'll see we come, he has been suffering a wee bit with these sort of metatarsal and below his big toe. We give a little bit of period earlier on a few weeks back, and he was OK, he's got a little bit of sore, obviously playing back-to-back games, which is why we've given him to the free, so we'll just assess that, see how that is later in the week. Ali, Ali would be fine, he just again, he's had a bit of an issue around his back, so he was having an injection, and of course that meant he would miss the game, but he'll try and choose to Wednesday and be absolutely fine. Peter, he's so important, isn't he, the USA International? Yeah, I told you wouldn't know about a tassel pole, we talked the first time I ever had, I think it was way and runny when the World Cup remembered as a youngster, when he started ever so well, and the next thing he said to metatarsal, he used to be a broken foot, you know, now all of a sudden that had changed, and he'd be a massive blow if he was a man. I don't know how you can manage that, you know, I don't know if it's a slight fracture or whatever you do, because that's seemingly what I met the metatarsal is, isn't it, there's a crack on it, there's a constant pain there, and there's nothing what's bad out there, there's anything your foot pole, you know, where slight breaks, boating, because there's nothing you can do with him, you know, and time that is, because any time you're working on it, it's constant, the pain's there, but it must not be bad enough that they can allow him to play, but he has a massive plus for Celtic when he plays, and whoever plays along him, young skills has been outstanding this season, so far, you know, it's credit to him, but anybody that plays along with Celtic as I always think, steps up a notch, because he gives him that confidence, and he's very strong, and they want to win moments in Jules, which is important the way Celtic play. And we can Monday Celtic will go to Germany for the match on the Tuesday with Dortmund, obviously, there's a worry then about CCV. Yeah, I think the manager will just manage that just now, you know, the interesting thing would be if he wasn't, that, you know, everybody would go with two left footers and trusty in scales, that would be interesting, because it's very unusual you see two left footers playing the match, sorry, it's centre back, but they go in Arrowski, who come on at the weekend, you know, as just a natural right side, but he's not played games, so I'd think it'd be trusty, he'd be going with, so that would be an interesting one, but listen, you're going to be dormant, well, wonderful place, I was fortunate enough to play on, fortunately, I lost the game, to now, over there, but it was a wonderful occasion, as in, supporting that right next day, it's a wonderful place to play as a football player, and it's something they must be looking forward to. This is the good radio football show, listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go, let's go. Celtic Women's in Champions League action, tomorrow night they did well last week, Peter, at Erdre, 1-0-1 for them, and they're back there because it's a Ukrainian team, tomorrow. Yeah, they could have went through in a lot of big chance, pwn, had been more comfortable, and it was a difficult game, but as you say, the both games are at Erdre, so hopefully we can get through that now, but the first time they qualify for league session, so that'll be fantastic, they've done exceptionally well. Europa League is underway, just before the break we spoke there about Celtic playing Dortmund, Barry, that's the ground you must have played there. Yeah, played there a couple of things, Paul, throwing stadium, amazing atmosphere, I've got a bonus where you're one of the best atmospheres I've been involved in, and that's near the other place, he's a football player, you want to go and sample. It'll be a tough one, but listen, they're the other ones in the Champions League, that's where you come up against, you come up against the best managers, best players, and best atmospheres, and I sell them one of them. Two great salesmen for them as well, I've done my club and Paul Lambert, but when I knew European trophy and I saw great credit to their boys, going over there, I'm doing that as well, you know, I've known a lot of people travel that that time has got us. And we mentioned a lot of course, it's definitely quite like it. I think he played against those guys. Did he? Yeah, I think he was a top goal. Mardo 66 yesterday, we mentioned him on the programme, so wasn't he? Yeah, terrific, terrific. Wish him all the best, and of course, Paul Lambert joined us when the draw came in, Peter, he was on the programme, he was brilliant, Stephen Close, one of the best keepers, wasn't he? Yeah, he was, he was a phenomenal goalkeeper. No, the biggest, not. Yeah, remember? But yeah, what a short stopper. The only thing I would probably say is he wasn't great with the ball, he's feet in terms of the distance, he couldn't get much distance, but yeah, Stephane was a talk-class goalkeeper, one of the worst dress senses, I've ever caught a guy. About some, let yourself talk. But as bad as that, he's not that bad. Surely, Paul Close stepped the step up. Could be a new name, but no, he was very quiet in the dressing room, but see, when it came to training and games, oh, he was, he would, he could tear him, he was aggressive, and then off the pitch, he was one of the, one of the nicest guys. He'll ever meet, but he just changed. He's mindset, mentality, attitude, everything just changed when he, he put their go-kim gloves on. How did they like Glasgow? Did he, did he enjoy being here? Yeah, he stayed out the way, I'm sure he stayed in Helensborough. All right, quite a few of them did, didn't he? Yeah, I'm sure he was Helensborough. Um, Stefan was, yeah, definitely 100% he stayed in Helensborough, so he stayed out the way. But listen, brilliant teammate, brilliant goalkeeper. Walter could keep an eye on them all. Didn't that way? Yeah, if you're buying it, that's what it was making sure you got it. Don't know the hell on the stage, that's why I'll show you a seed. The yellow wall at Dortmund, and there's going to be the green wall, and in it, Peter Schmichael, he's looking forward to go and see his boy. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, listen, as I say, we lost the game two now, after winning two win in Glasgow. Um, but the atmosphere was unbelievable. And to see both sets of supporters at that particular time singing, walk on with something special. Um, but really good side, and really good players, we played against them, including Moddo as I say at that particular time. But something as Barry says, players must be looking forward to playing in, because it is a special, special atmosphere. Sure is Champions League back, Europa League back, and the Conference League as well. Do you remember the, in the nine, I don't know what it was, was it '96, '97 Rangers played down, that was frozen. They were all wearing the trainers. Is that right? Wow, I can't, I mean, look that up. I remember that they had the old dash with tough trainers on it, because the pitch was absolutely rock solid. Um, yeah, I'm sure it was, I'm sure it was mid-90s. Some do remember. Yep. I'll look it up. Denny McKinnis, his name has been mentioned for the heart's job. Um, he's been in touch with Stephen Aesmith saying, "You'll be back, would you go?" Last night, we were talking about it and thought that he wouldn't move to hearts. We wouldn't want to see him go from commander. It's a fantastic back in the commander as well, you know, and sort of great support. You know, and he's built there, he's done tremendous. And he's in charge, sorry, of the football side, isn't he? Yeah, of course, and that's so, so important, in the respect to that, the way that Derek's built things, and tried to build things. As I say, he's had fantastic support, John. Difficult times as well, and he got them out of the Championship office, and then, are we about to struggle? And then, again, goes again and rightfully, done exceptionally well last year. And he wants to get back to that again. But, yeah, again, I think it's important for these guys that they keep getting mentioned for jobs, if they're doing a good job, and I think that's important for them. So, they've got the credit and the bank, they deserve that. And I think Aberdeen, for a long while, would have been disappointed to let him go, because he's such a good job, he'd done that. I know sometimes people can overstay their welcome, but I think at that particular time, Derek's proven, time and time again, that he's very, very good at his job. Well, he called him, has told Derek McInnes that he was failed by substandard officiating in that 2-2 draw, 10, 11 days ago, with St. Marin. And we know one of the biggest ones was Sean Rooney. Yeah, but again, it's another plus point for me, at least while I call him. He's going and explaining the situation, and I know that one year, you had gone away. It still baffles me that there was no even a yellow cat. Look, it wasn't even a yellow cat, it was a red cat. So at least while he's standing up to, obviously, the referees, because they are going to make mistakes, Paul. But what I can't get my head around is that far, never seen that situation. Was there something we missed, because they couldn't have missed it, they must have seen it, or maybe I'll wait for it. [LAUGHTER] Viola, yeah, but tea. No, but that's the thing, Paul, I'd like to clear as well, because when we're in here, we give an opinion, what we think happened in the Saturday, or an incident happened. We're giving an opinion on it. And we're not looking, we're at the games. Some of the games we're at, that's when it happens, and we'll make an opinion on what we thought. Then when we see it on where we think, that's definitely the reason. And we've said that, but then there's been a criticism that we're giving the referees criticism for that. No, that's our opinion. And everything we've said so far about the decisions, like McCrory's again, Celtic with Kyogo. We said it was a definite penalty, if it's a centre bike, while they call him, because it says a definite penalty. So it's our opinion. You know, we think that as it's not as if we're criticizing the referee, they go at it wrong. It's the thing you're saying to me, "Oh, you give the ball away the day, or you're going rubbish the day." That's an opinion. So you've got to accept that. So the referees have got to be a very bad rate. At least, they're coming out. It'll not help Derek. Derek will be sent back, I'll be about frustrated, but we think they say, "Okay, fair enough." But at least he's getting told the truth now, and they're not hiding behind it. And I think that's very, very important. He says the standard, this is Derek McKenna said, the standard of officiating must improve, because they were let down by a real low for refs, and we'll call them mentioned the referee, and they're very official in that case. So it's a real blow. And they really need to get wins at Kelly. And same with Kyogal. If it came to goal difference at the end of the season, because not much was said about that, certainly get a big win. But one goal, as Barry knows, he won a title. Well, we're talking about Paul, right? 100%, but then we're talking about the fall and make it against Hart's. Stephen Mason, some people say it's a penalty kick, some people say it's not a penalty kick. So if Hart's goal one-nil up, the Stephen Mason save his job, if they end up going to draw it, and that can be the fine lines, but we don't know the rules of that one. You know, the second one I thought was, I apparently didn't think the first one where the way the ball was misheaded, and it turned Barry, did think it was a penalty. So that's what I'm saying. They're the fine lines that can cost you daily, whether it's money or a manager losing his job. Barry, John McLinn's name's been mentioned for the Hart's job. Can I just say, I've watched this Celtic folk game. You were commenting? Yeah. How was he? He was decent. Thanks for joining us. I was really impressed before. What did you like about them? I just liked the way they went about the game. They took the game and the way that Celtic played, they left two on two at the back, and they were just the midfielders, were just whipping balls around the corner over the top, and they're getting a number of times. So obviously, the game plan that was part of the way they wanted to play, but I thought they tried in the right manner. They go about their job listening, they ran out of gas. Yeah. They wore ginned and Celtic started to make a few changes, and obviously that kind of kicked Celtic on. But I thought the folk up were decent. I've been the mind a few months back. They were the league one. Absolutely. So he's done a brilliant job, and I'm not surprised that he's in the frame for the hearts job, and it's good to see experienced managers. And he seems so thorough, doesn't he? Yeah, but it's good to see experienced managers getting quoted for these jobs. Because generally, it's all younger managers, maybe coaches and kind of 20s or whatever. I like to see experienced managers still get their name put forward, and he's certainly done listening. I thought he'd done a great good job at Ray Throwers. But what a job he's done at folk at, because there's a lot of pressure at folk at. He got them up, and this year again, they're doing brilliant, let the top of the league. And his old captain, not old, Stephen McGinn here last night said, if his name was Juan Maglin from Somewhere Abroad, actually said the Juan bit or Jose or something, people would talk about him. Well, he's got to be the guy. Jose Maglin, Juan Maglin, would you? Yeah, exactly, he's a nice Wayne. But that seems nice. Is there something in there? Well, I'm trying to give Juan Maglin, Juan Maglin. Well, I'm saying that. You two are not saying that seriously. No, absolutely. I'm 100% up. I mean, of course, the minds against John. I know the way he likes to try and play his teams. You know, and he's been very successful at it. He's been at hearts before, remember? Yeah. He's got his nerves, I think he'd done it. Maybe ten, caretaker, follow up. He did, he was a manager for a time. Yeah, manager. And it's got a tremendous job. But the thing is, and bodies, right? The experienced managers move with their teams. Remember, it's experienced managers at them, these kids, as well, you know, and put them in the block. Maybe that's why I get so many youngsters losing their job because of not getting that experience out of handled certain situations. Join what he did in Saturday. He mixed the game as what we've always said. Yeah, like that. There was times that he played out. There was times that Celtic pushed out. And as Barry said, simple things. So a new bike, a bike, two centre bikes. So it's not scales and character figures. All of a sudden he was asking questions. Let's bend it around the corner and get a race with them. And that's what they've done a few times and got theirself up the park, got a couple of goals. So that's experience. You know, there's different ways to skin a cat, as they say. And he definitely done that very well. And his players deserve great credit. But when Celtic come on, they're both their top players on. So they just raised a gallop. Yeah, he mixed up, bro. That's what I like. Because a lot of managers just say, right? No, they're playing out for the back. That's it only. But you tried that, but also went long. Back to front at times as well. But listen, he's done a fantastic job at Focke. That's what I'm saying. So he joins me as well, Paul. Of course. We'll talk with Pedro Moore in the second. However, along with Barry, he uses an X. This is the Go Radio football show. Listen live weeknights from five on goal. Let's go! European football back tonight. And there's also the AFL action in England. Some huge games on. Barry, great to see yesterday your nephew. I saw it in social media. They called him the captains back. And he is. So Belonger's best, Lewis, back in full training. Yeah, I've seen about your footage, Paul. About in the gym and about out in the grass. So, listen, it's a slow bundle. Remember, it's a serious injury. They cruciate a bit, listen. It's growing to see that he's back on the grass. And hopefully in the coming months, we'll see him back out in the pitch with the hand band on and playing for Belonger again. Because he's got some tasty games to his international team. Your teammates are out there in Napoli. Obviously, Billy Gilman, Scott McTombini. So it's great to see good, really good Scottish players playing in top leagues. And great news for Scotland as well. Isn't it that he's on the way back? Absolutely. And of course, McTombini and Gilmer, some specials happening out there for those two, isn't it? Well, it's interesting that Quanta changed his system to put McTombini in. He thought it was that important to put his senior training. So he went to our back four for the first time in a long time. And I watched that game. And he was sort of playing near to the centre forward. You know, it's like two behind. And because he's got so much energy, he's just made him having for Quanta the way he likes his players to play. And to be fair, he'd done remarkable well against Juventus. Another game is now now. But I was really, really impressed with his all-round performance. Looking forward to that. What are you going to watch tonight, Barry? There's so many. I know you keep an eye on everything. What about the games down in England? Yeah, I think I'll go for Liverpool, West Ham. I'll watch out. But as I probably three years older, I'll channel hop. I'll just go through all the games. Paul, that's what I've, if it starts to burn, maybe I'll move on in the next game. But I like watching. I love my football. So that's the game that I'll choose to start off with. Peter? Well, Liverpool, West Ham gives me Shivers, Paul. Brings back FA Cup final. Of course. Yeah. And Steve and Joe are good at beating penalties. So that brings Shivers. I'll look at the team and see if it's the main players that's going to play. Then that might be the one that throws it. But if not, Manchester need to. Yeah, Manchester plays a full team, doesn't he? And that tournament, given the fact that he did say, I always win in my second season. Yeah, but to be fair, Ian, I'll listen to the interview, Paul. That's not what you said. No, what did he say? Yeah, I actually said, listen, it's always been in the second year that I've won. In my second year at any football club, I've won trophies. I can't say this next year if I don't win a trophy. You know, that was a full quote, you know. So I think typical English media, won't you hang? You've been, all of a sudden, you're flavoured in the month when you get down there at first and you've went, so many games unbeaten. They just take what they want to do, and they've never done the full explanation. And I think that was the thing, because I was very surprised, because you don't put yourself under that type of pressure, especially when you change your team so often, especially in cop competitions. And I thought it was really weird. I'll listen to it, and that's not what you say. They said, in my second year I've won trophies, and they were asked the equation. They said, if you ask me this next year, I can't say that, because then I won't have won a trophy in my second year. And that's what he was saying. Are they different there? Because I'm just being careful here, given that all media have to ask questions. They should edit it properly so you get the real answer. No, it's definitely a divide. Really? And they're faster to turn against you. Northern south as well. Okay. Oh deary dear. The north press to the London press, and the London press to West Ham, because predominantly a big West Ham support. So that's why that's a critically West Ham. If things don't go well, because you've got the power to depend there, I always felt that there was a hell of a lot of guys supported West Ham, and you had to be playing well. Oh, so they're fans basically? We're just fine. Absolutely. But they let it be accepted. Yeah, absolutely. Oh yeah, very nice. And that's why I think David Moyes had such a hard time there. Been so successful there, and doing it almost as a proven point to me. You know, we've done a wonderful, wonderful job there, and to get the criticism and tell me move on. Now, I'll look to them at the weekend and I'm thinking, I wonder if they're thinking something different now. I need a tough start. We know it. You know, we've never had to build. You know, but the players he's left him with, the Jared Bones coming in, the David Moyes. I don't think any other probably West Ham manager would have signed, even when he was a whole, you know, so to bring people in, I don't think he'd get the credit for that. The finishes he had, you know, the job he'd done at Everton, all these things. But what I'm saying is there is definitely a northern south, a split when it comes to the press. Barry, the media, we're all part of it. I have been for a long time. You are both part of it just now. So, and I think with both of you, I do admire that you say it as you see it. You don't just say, "Oh, the Rangers, "Everything's great and Celtic, "Everything's great. "In your case, Peter, "I think you are objective." And that's what people want. Otherwise, just watch your own club media all the time. So, here, we try to be fair. Yep, and listen, I'm not just saying it because I'm on here, but I listen to it the nights that I'm known. And I think all the guys and the women that you've got on the show, I think I'll speak honestly and openly. And that's what makes it a good show. The thing is, Paul, football supporters are not that. Exactly. You know, they've watched the same as ours. You know, but I've got to be, they've gotten tells it off. We've just seen something, it's completely older. And that's why I'll say, I'm not saying it as a Celtic supporter. I try and have an opinion whether it's right or wrong, and whether it's against Celtic or for Celtic. You've got to be honest with it, and that's what you're trying to do. And that's all we can try. And people won't agree with you. You understand that, but I think we try and be fair. And I think that's the point I was meeting with the referees. We would never criticize them if they were doing it well in their respect to that. But when there's an opportunity for us to say, "Oh, I thought that was wrong." We have to say that. It's not what we tell much. It's even players are getting through tough times. I kind of put my players' heart on and how I would have wanted to be, like, spoken about in terms of, "You're knowing you're no playing well." And I get plenty of criticism, but a lot of it was constructive, and I could take that all day long. But some of it just went over the line, crossed the line at times. And I thought that that was a bit naughty. But when you ask me about a player, if he's going through a hard time, whether it's at Rangers, whether it's Celtic, whether it's Hart's or whatever, then I try and just be honest and think if I was in there, she was still. And that's just the way I think it's best to approach the situations. But somebody who took terrible stick after the old firm game was, the Rangers captain, you'd be pleased for him the way he was received at the weekend. Yeah, and listen, it was that there was talk again, and they laid up, they bowled up, saw it, they'd done the United game. It turned and he was supposed to be here, was he going to be away? And I thought he did okay in the United game, but he still went out there and done a job poll. And that's all you can ask. And I think he's always done that. Again, it might not be everybody's cup of tea, but one thing I've got to say for James Tavernier is it doesn't hide. He always makes himself available, Paul. I can count one hand in many games he's missed. And he's been unfairly criticized at times that I would say. And listen, he's deserved a bit of criticism at times because you are the leader and listen things of sometimes no went Rangers way. But I think it just shows you what type of character is and obviously he came off. I think seven or eight minutes to go. And he got a decent reception from the Rangers fans and then come back to the stuff that happened, I'll say it. It just didn't sit right with me at Paul. I can take criticism for the stands all day long because you know yourself as a football player that you've no produced the goods. But seeing that after the game when the players arrive back at iRox, just I don't like seeing that. Here's what the manager said and probably why they bring him all fairly to give him his moment at the weekend. No, it's normal, I think. It's normal. He played a good game and he deserves that. And maybe after the Celtic game we have a few individuals who are crossing a certain line. What's not good and I understand the frustration. But there are a lot of people who understand the value that have had and has for this quad and that's also good for him to feel that. But that's the life of being a captain in a big club. You're the symbol in the good days and then it's nice like today. And in the difficult days you're also the one everybody looks at. But that's life of being a captain or a manager in that kind of clubs. You need to embrace that also. And he did last couple of weeks. He worked hard. He wanted to dig in, to come back strong. And he helped all the young lads in their integration also because he has an important job in that also. Huge job, isn't it? Manager, captain of Rangers and such criticism. But it looks as though now the past week or two, Peter, step at a time. Rangers have got a couple of wins and tomorrow another one to get a draw or a win would be massive. I think it would. Listen, I think if you go away we are pointing to know you would take it because I just think the unsightened to the Rangers team at this moment in time that's not really settled and bedded in the way the manager probably liked it. Guys finding fitness and whatever. And I think it would be a tough especially where Malmore in the league, if you know what I mean, they respect it. I think they've only got four or five games left. So I think that side of it as well. I think the manager would like it maybe another month before he gives into this. But unfortunately that's the way it works. But Tom, it's having you. I'd like to ask Barry because obviously I don't see them live all the time. He'll touch the ball probably more than most. Yeah, but probably that it'd be good to look at the start. You think you'd probably be high up? Yeah, you're thinking. So that's going to be criticism because everyone's not going to be perfect. The ball, you're not going to give a ball perfect. You know, so. Well, you see if you have a perfect round even if you mean just. Absolutely. The fact is that he's wanting the ball all the time and taking all these things the responsibility. Unless we can hold questions. But as I've said before you need good pleasure in the league as well. And there's been a hell of a lot of changes for him as well in that period. But Barry's right. He stood up to be counted. You know what I think, I'm defensive, I don't think he's the greatest. But the one thing he's never shut away from it. And to pull that iron band on where it be. If you're a Celtic or a Rangers there's something special for these guys. You know, and listen, you look at his record and you think, if you looked at it blindly and just went, that's right back for us by the way. And there's these record. There's these appearances. There's these goals. There's what he's done. You blow up. The biggest problem you've got is when you look at the trophy cabinet and that's what people are throwing back in because he's been there through all. I remember Paul had been through at me all my career and I was there during the six years we went without. So I get through to me all the time as well. So they call it a dark times and quite rightly so because they didn't win. The trophies were supposed to win them. And unfortunately, when you're part of that, that character says we're going, it's not nice. It's never easy. But the one thing I'd say, he touches a ball problem more often in every Rangers game than any other player. So you're going to have that character that says, but great kid. They still want to get that ball. Celtic made massive changes at the weekend. Was it seven? Eight? Eight. Here's the manager. You can see, yeah. I don't know if you spoke it. You could see that the fernum are quite rusty. You could see that. But listen, it's all right. Paul training every day and doing extra stuff after training's finished in the gym. But nothing, nothing beats games in football. Nothing. It's not a surprise. No, no, and probably a lot of people that have. They're no playing great. But I thought that would be the case when I've seen the team that I'm thinking to myself, you're taking another style quality on that team. But you're taking a chance because a lot of them have no had much football at all. No, it's very unusual. You even see that minute changing, especially for Brendan. And I think he actually touched on it. After the game, he spoke about the fact he'd usually maybe take one out of the fence or something and one midfield and one striker. And that's the difference, Paul. But the thing Barry's saying, Vali comes from Barcelona. Bit reserves are youths. You know what I mean? So let's be honest. Trust to come and fish off, you need to play completely different way to Celtic play. So they're learning the training around. That's where they're learning how to become Celtic players. And to go in a match, whatever game you have to play well and you have to win, it's completely different people and for Sheffield, Geneva, whatever else. Who were going down last season. Yeah, but all these different things, Paul. Completely different pressures come with that, even though people say it was only folk. It doesn't matter. There's an expectation it's expected all the time. And there was a few things come out that Brendan will be happy. These guys have got games on their legs now. And that's important because you don't know you're talking about carrots. Vickers maybe have been out. So if carrots are going out, how are we going or how trust he's going to be? So he's made the right decision on that. Here's the manager speaking about those changes. That's the most changes I'll ever make. Normally I would make one change per line. You know, the back line or a triangle in midfield, one change or a front line. So you look at my history as a coach, you'll see that I wouldn't normally make so many. But that's the risk that you take. So I was happy to take the risk. The players have worked really, really hard. They'll benefit from that. Alex Bay, you're getting his first sort of minutes for an hour. Austin Trusted getting 90 minutes. Stephen Wills getting game time. Tony coming in and playing. Louis Palmer getting some game time. The other guys as well. So yeah, you always went up but it worked out well for us in the end. Just what you said and he spoke about trusty and Bayes, right? I think they're coming into a complex system. And that's why I didn't throw them in straight away. Because you've got to commend them if they hardly had any training for a little bit of time. But now they're up to speed a little bit. They understand how we want to work, how we play the movement patterns. And yeah, I thought it was a good game to introduce them into. Brian's on asking, Peter, what's your team for this weekend for Celtic? Or what kind of changes do you think? Does it go back to the team probably closer to the Bratislava game? I think there's no doubt on it. I think unless there's injuries, Paul, I think he gets back to that and thinks, right, OK, the boys with the rest last week, they will all come back in. Other interests and one that I think he'll start wearing goes. But yeah, again, but Nado was excellent. You know, so he's done his self justice all the time. Now, Hitati's got to be watching, you know, because you're thinking to yourself, right? OK, well, he's got to keep that standard of performance. And probably he looked a little bit jaded at the weekend. You know, so maybe he's one that you've got to look at and say, well, OK, well, Bernardo made me come in there and have a different type of midfield. You don't know because obviously they've got a European game in midweek. So maybe Brendan looks able, OK, I'll leave her tattoo, rest and this one, just one change on it and put Bernardo along with angles, sorry, angles in Callan McGregor. That could be a three midfielders this weekend. Here's Ross on the line of Celtic fan. Good evening, Ross. Hi, Paul, Barry. Hi, I'm Peter. Hi, Ross. Hi, Paul. Ross, we're just talking here before we come to your point. What would you do for the game at the weekend? Bearing in mind, you've got Dortmund and Monday, a flight on Monday, a game on Tuesday? Yeah, I think, obviously, for me, with a team in Saturday, I think we should do back to our own strongest I've ever been, if we can, possible. And for the game for me, for the focus game, first of all, I'm going to give you focus on what's in this journey. Came and had a go at us. And I think that's probably given somebody the primary shape teams a wake-up call saying, "This is what can happen if you have a go at Celtic." So, at least focused on the way they attacked the game. And Sunday, and I thought it was tremendous to see. But for me, I just think that there's a couple of players in that Celtic team. I just don't know if they're good enough to beat that level anymore. And I think for me, Welsh and Ralston are two. And I know they don't get game time. But for me, why did anybody on the Celtic team have no idea? And what Roger sees in them? I have no idea either. I don't know if Peter wants to come in a little bit, but I just think that they're just no good enough for me. I think we are later. There should be nowhere near that Celtic team. I don't think either, or of either, let us down. Roger, I've been careful on this with you. I know what you're saying. Are they going to be first-liners for Celtic? Probably not. Alston Johnson's going to be there. And he's been remarkable. And I think he's last game he was outstanding. And if he continues, he'll be the number one choice. And Tony's a very good backup. I think he got a lot unfair criticism for Scotland, to be careful on this with you, because of the way Scotland played, didn't help him. And it was probably the third choice of that particular time before the Euros. So he's never let us down. He's a competitor, wants to give everything he's got. But Alston Johnson is well ahead of him. And I believe if Alston Johnson didn't move on, certainly we're going to get another right back. But in Scotland and financially, you're not going to sit, and somebody do, but Tony Rawson does for Celtic. You're not going to be able to bring something that's quite happy to do that. And Tony has, he's got that, and he's heading there. He understands that he's playing second fiddle. He's going to start some games. And as I say, he's not let us down. Well, she's slightly different. I think it's a centre half. Very rarely is the manager going to change that now. And I found himself not even stripped. And that is the difficulty. Even you're coming from not being stripped to straighten. He played. How hard is that? That is so, well, I was fortunate enough Paul in the respect to that. I was probably playing there enough most weeks. But also there was not as many subs as nowadays. You know, so there's a complete difference nowadays. These guys got out of the squad, and then all of a sudden they're playing. And that is different for Stephen. For me, Stephen's at probably a stage I think he's going to go and make a career. Because it's good enough to go and play for someone else. I think that's important. And I think that's what he has to do. Because as a centre half, that's the only way you get better with playing games defended. I defended it especially. And I agree with what you're saying. And some aspects, not that they're not good enough. I think they'll always be second place to the number one, whoever it's going to be. If it's also Johnson at the back, Tony will always be the number two at him. Stephen is finding himself even second. The third choice now, but trust me coming in, they've got how many centre halfs they're going to put in the bench. So for me, this was maybe a season where Stephen says, right, okay, how many games am I going to get? I'm having a chart with a manager. Right. I need to go here and play now and make a career for myself. That would be the advice. I would be given up. Come then to the season once I've looked at the moment. A game time he's had this season. Yes. I would never say they're never not good enough. No, Stephen Welsh has hardly played at all. But that must be tough. Yeah, it must be. But granted, he used the word after I think they had backups. And if you look at it financially, if you were going to go out and get, say, someday, Alistair Johnson's quality, or I can't have a vicar's quality, or I trust these quality, you'd be paying high-end wages. So I think it sucks. See, I'll take that they've got two players that are maybe happy to know that they might only get maybe eight, ten games a season. And because I think of everybody's fit, I mean, they don't play. Ross, can I ask you? What about Lewis Palmer? Um, see, Palmer's a tricky one, Paul, because I actually do like Palmer. And I generally do think that I've played in there. Um, Am I right to think that he's not the best at seasons? Yes, he's probably not. But in the day, I think, just Peter and Barry said there that he's probably a backup as well, and they, they might have taken forest. So again, with Palmer, it's, it doesn't play every week. So you're asking a player what Palmer took him in, out of the cold, and delivered, but... Samuel, watch the games, Ross. Samuel, you watch the game. Samuel, you come in at first. So go back to the moral of the game, at third park, where they come in, and Matt rarely get the goal at the back post, and the other one he's whipped in, he's self in the balls right under the net. That's when he, I thought he was at his best. He would cut inside, and deliver right away, because he's not going to get the pace to get by anybody. But see, soon as he goes again, I keep thinking he's losing possession, and that's the frustration the Celtic supporters are getting. That's the frustration that Kyogo's getting, because I watch his movement, and when the ball doesn't come in, he takes another touch, he's a bit frustrated. For me, if I was Palmer, I would make it as simple as possible. Samuel, I cut inside, and deliver him that whip I've got. And then I'll get back now. That freshness and that good feeling. Whereas he looks as if he's playing tight at this moment in time, and taking too many touches for me. Make it as simple as you possibly can, and I think then he becomes a better player. If he doesn't, he's going to find it really difficult, because James Forrest has jumped ahead of him. James's performance has been really, really good, and James without the picture, really. And his performance has been really good. Made I can play there. Couldn't can play there. Yang even come on at the weekend, and sort of probably even on his performance, maybe jumped ahead of him, and maybe that's something to bring down. Look at him and think, "Okay, if you're not going to perform, Yang's going to run before you." And maybe that's the kick up the back side of your mobility. But if I was coaching him, I'd be seeing him just cutting side and delivering that ball again, instead of taking an extra touch. The pacts with that, and the creativity, the players you've just mentioned. Yeah, you must be, you must be after string player to play with. Palma. When he gets out half a yard, just deliver, because players are then making them move inside the box. They try and create a self-half a yard. They maybe get on the end yet, but I think he has done the paint and order. If you look at the quality that's out there, I've certainly got in the wide areas, and the three that you mentioned, they're made as a 100% starter. And the right side's just a battle, a straight battle between James Forrest and Kun. Good call. Thanks very much, Rose Rose. '08, '08, '17, '17, '17, '17, '17, '17, '17, must be really hard when you come into a team. Look at Tony Rossin, and what he did for Scotland as well. You know, he wasn't in the picture. I thought he'd have a meal first. Yeah, and so, you said it. I'm born this week. Listen, one thing, when you look at Rossin, is he's not going to set the game alight. But you know what? He's a good professional. He does his job. He looks to me of, if you set him a task on the pitch, where he's come up again, somebody who's quick, or somebody who's very physically strong. I think he'll go and do a job. 40, there's no doubt. And when he's come in at that right back area, some later when it's like it's held it at Scotland. There's no first choice, because you've got hickey and partisan in front of him. But we need to open out. I think he's come in and he's done fine. Every other team in Scotland, he'd be a starter. And that's how I could lead. I could play him, you know, in respect to him. I'm not to take rangers out to obviously. But any other team hurts. Every one of them, every one of them, every third of the show I do, he'd be a starter. And every one of them would want him. And that tells you where he is. And I'm not talking about him, I'm just talking about his coach. He came because he's playing that. But everyone in the lead will be a starter. And Stephen Rosha needs to play now, doesn't he? Absolutely. He's better than what you saw at the weekend. I'll tell you one thing that Stephen Rosha's very, very good. Getting the first touch on the ball at the livery's face set, please. He's the one that attacks you. He's not the biggest, but he gets the first touch. And as I say, it looks like the consummate professional. I've never worked with him, but I could imagine he's a consummate professional. Never gives you a minute problem. I don't mean that in a sneaky ways of arc. He's quite happy to be a number two or three. I mean, he'd be desperate to be playing weekend week out. But yeah, again, he's another one. I'll look at centre backs and other teams. Stephen Rosha played before most of them as well, and Scottish football. This is the Good Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Let's go! There's a lot of band there from the 60s, Peter, Barry and Paul. My Pedro will call you now. Because he's got one MacLenn time. I kind of think his Barry sounds good according to that. Yeah, I don't know what berries would be. - I don't know what berries would be. - I don't know what berries would be. - It wasn't too keen on the show. - And I shall go in. - I can't even imagine. - Italian. - Bary. - Bary. - Bary. - That's French. - That's French. - Sorry, that was French. - That's French. - I'm sorry, I'm sorry. - I'm sorry, I'm sorry. - Robot or something? - No. - No. - Peter, is it short for something? - No, I'm sorry. - What could you know? - I'm sorry, it's good. - You're right, or something. Right, tonight, some European food, Bob, more importantly, tomorrow night, Rangers will be winding up with the team this time. Tomorrow, a few people want asking, what about stirling? Everyone likes them. - Yeah. - What's the issue just now, Bary? - It's just playing so many different positions. Listen, he predominantly has a right back pole. Stroke centre half, listen, he does a good job. I mean, I've read out some Rangers teams before the new Vast member would they think. And I would play him in there at times. But I just think now he probably needs a settled position. He looked a bit off it at the weekend when you're at home against a so-called smaller team. You're going to have the Vast majority of the possession. And it just wasn't, it was a kind of game it passed on by. I do like him, I think he's got so many really good attributes. I just think it's now time for him to find that settled position, Paul. - I think he'd have played, and Thursday, if it was a two-legged player, I think he'd have played him a way like if it was a Malmo. I think he'd have started the game after Malmo were coming back to Aiberox. Because I just think he's never let him down the European games. I think the European games is one of the main players, actually. - How do you personally speak to me? So, where do you feel you're at your best? - Yeah. - Because I've seen him on that right side, and he's like, is there always something down there? He's a machine, he's one of his biggest attributes. He's a big physical, but really powerful, strong runner. And look, I do think you can do a job in certain games in a mental end of pitch when you need players like that. But I would just like to see where he thinks that where he sees his career, long-term work position. - Do you think that's why he'll go on an attacking side? Because it's like eight games now, isn't it? - Yeah, I think it goes with attack. - Yeah, exactly. - You know, it's different than it's just an absolutely different match. - I like the new format, sorry, should I say. And I just think, this is a real game that you can have a pop-in. You're getting nothing to lose. Malmo, the spart of Pride beat them, 4-0, an aggregate for the qualifying game and getting to the Champions League. So, Rangers are current against the team that I keep saying. They're beatable, granted. - Yes. - I think they've got to go with that. I shouldn't take the game to Malmo. - Is the surface, what's the surface on, sorry, a magnet to that? Is it Astro or is it Grass? - Grass grass? - Is it Grass? - I didn't know because sometimes it likes a Tom Lorns, maybe no play because maybe a different surface or whatever. - Is it a voice? - Yes. - Yeah, there's an astro. - Yeah, that's why I was asking on that. So that is all these circumstances that the Rangers got to look at, especially if he's saying there's a few players coming in, it's not up to speed. The last thing you want them is probably on top like that. And it makes, it's amazing. But all these things that managers got to prepare for, you know, what players are ready to play on this and who can play on this. And that's why he's dealing such an important play for them. But I just think if it was a home in a way like I think he just started to come tomorrow. - Rangers fans, what are you thinking? You can speak to Barry Ferguson, Peter Grant just now. Oh, eight, oh, eight, 17, 17, 700 looking at the team tomorrow. Peter, to you first, Connor has been on saying, what about Tom Lorns then? So much has said about him, scored some couple of good goals. - I really like him. I've said that too many, Rangers signed him overseas and injury problems, Paul. But when they signed him, I thought, wow, that's a really good sign. And I thought about making progress. I thought he was adding to the group they had at that particular time. You know, when you sign some person, you say, well, he's just going to be a bit party. He's going to be a substitute. I genuinely thought, oh, this is going to be maybe take them up to another level here. What, especially in his period at Derby, when he was fully fit, there was him and Mason Mount. - Was that right? - They played in that team, at that particular team under Frank Lampard, and they were excellent. And they missed out in the playoffs, obviously, to their leads. But he was excellent in that period of time, scored a lot of goals. And that's why I said he could play out one, you know, on the left hand side. And that's where he's used to drifting in Mount, so that he played in that tent role. And he got a lot of goals and a lot of assists for that position. And he was a player that everybody was talking about at that particular time. - Injays, I've put, I wonder back, but obviously, but I think in glimpses, he showed the quality that he has. - This is the first time he's had a run at it in terms of being fit and playing every game. So, Ali, come, I think he's a difference maker in the final third. He's got that slide drill pass. He's got a goal. And I think there's more to come. I heard them do an interview before the Dundee game. And he had made it yourself, look, I still think I can give the team a bit extra. So, hopefully, we games and building up that level of fitness. I think he, he can be a big player for Rangers, there's no doubt about that. - Good travelling support, Barry, you know, some of your friends, some of your family going over there, my son and my nephew. And I went over there, flew out, he caught me hanging. It's afternoon, so they're over there. I shot John the A, my almo, so I'll touch base with him later on. I'll probably just rub on him. - No, it's good. - Yeah, there's no Wi-Fi in the pump. So, they're out there, they'll enjoy a couple of days and they're saying there's a fair amount of rain. Just fans travelling out. - Yep, it's 2000, I reckon going. Of course, the 5.15 kick off tomorrow. So, Rob will keep us right up to date. It'll be a little listening to TNT sport or wherever a premier sport or a sky. Better tomorrow at 5.15, yeah, 2000. They're saying they're looking out for security for the Rangers fans coming over. If you're going into Copenhagen, you go over that famous bridge, don't you? - Yeah, absolutely. - Then heading to Malmo. - Yeah, I don't know much, Paul, about countries. I just know the football teams, because we had ignore, Barry will tell you, you always went in a team bus. So, when all of a sudden, you drive somewhere yourself as a coach and a manager, you're thinking, "No, I'll do it again." Of course, that must be one of the big things when you became a coach. - You've never seen... - Yeah, you didn't. No, but when you just arrived, you picked up, you arrived, and that was it. All of a sudden, you had to find your own way. When you were driving, it was slightly different. Thank God for the satellite, or you would never go out there, you know what I mean? But, as I say, listen, it's probably been involved in European games, big games, and as football players, Barry rightfully said, "No matter who you are, "you want to play in the biggest games." No matter what the competition is, obviously, you want it to be the Champions League. Rangers are not in the Champions League, they've got... But it's still European football, and that's something to be part of. It's good for Scottish football, but for Rangers, one, Celtic, one, and it keeps continuing, and keep us in there, so we don't need to get that qualification. Because that's the one thing we don't want, is the qualifications at the start of the season. For our Champions, they'd be able to do that. It's a crazy amount of people who say, "Listen, you've played in some countries, in some cities." Don't see them. No, you're basically flying straight to the hotel, sleep. You go and train it, they stay down, back to the stadium, and play the game and fly out. So people aren't going to be in a jolly. It's not a jolly. It used to be for players, but you... You know what? We weren't, we weren't, I don't know. I mean, if you actually think back, there's some unbelievable places you've been in, but I've actually never seen others. I've never seen any of the beautiful cities. Because apparently, Peter, maybe in your day or before it, they used to nip out for a... No, no, they... Not in your day. And in your day, right? And David Proven, we're kidding. No, no, we used to get in a... Okay. If we played, predominantly the game is no Wednesday night. Okay. And you would have a couple of drinks after the game, or whatever, a bite tea. And you'd have a couple of drinks, and then, firstly, you would travel back. That was the way it was, Paul, you know, and you'd play in a Saturday. It was in a Sunday, the game was in a switch to the Sunday, you know, so... But you always used to enjoy that, and it was about a banter as well. You know, you used to sit where it was in a four-year, the hotel. A banter? You know. It was a luxury, yeah. I think that was because there wasn't private planes there. Oh, yeah. So it was gone flying out, went on in the evening, and it was the old Richard Park and all that. It used to be there as... Richard, Richard, Richard would be there as an all-out after the game. Just good self would have been there after the game. Yeah, indeed. Used to fly out in a Sunday. Yeah, that's right. Against the European Cup. And then went and fly back to the Thursday. To the Thursday. Honestly, it's a holiday. On it? It was. And we did £50. Honestly, unless it was maybe the bottom end of Greece or Turkey, we would go two nights. Yes. But if it was like anything under three hours, we would be flying the day before and fly straight out. There was a rule about 40 years, I think. There used to be a rule. They had to run a country for 40 years. You couldn't fly out straight after the game. That's right. There was no flights after 11 o'clock. But I'd probably say most of the games that I played in Europe, we would... We would go straight right after the game back home. Back to the point. Did you prefer that in some ways? You might not get to your bed till three, four in the morning. Yeah, we were off the next day and then I would just go and sleep. Yeah. Right. And maybe just before lunchtime. So I would get plenty of zids. Did you never nip out afterwards and cheer in on whatever and miss the coach the next morning? No, I never missed it. But, you know, no, I've nipped to it a few times. Yeah, a few pints. Yeah. But don't worry about that, Paul. We were always there, making sure we were there for time. I was another one for a curfew break, like some people. Jim Dole travel, huh? I was the first old Paul. Yeah. Jim Dole would have to get something you know in your future. They'd get you there ready. He was a brilliant man, wasn't he? A fantastic man. He was one of my testimonial committee. A wonderful, wonderful man. Yeah, your testimonial where you had, of course, buying music. Yeah, that's why I always like to see the results, Paul, and doing well because they were such a fantastic group of people. The great honours, they mean some wonderful people. Connected to be a buyer, none more so than the great Gert Miller. Yeah. You know, which hub is unbelievable. He came over three months and said prior to the game and all that, they were ex-embit. As a club, Trapper Tony and all the players were wonderfully deal with. Absolutely phenomenal. And it's a shame. John McGinn is going to miss the Bayern game for Aston Villa because of injury. And that's a worry that he was injured at the weekend, Barry. So, we'll get more of an update. I'm thinking about Scotland, but I don't know if he's going to make it clear. Yeah. Listen, he's what I'm saying, and he's been for Villa and a championship and a Premier League. And you know, Emery, you actually look at the job. He's done a look at the squad. No, they've got, I think, I think Aston Villa could get in the talk for this year. I think there's our many League of Three. I think it's Man City Arsenal. And Liverpool. Yeah. And that fourth place for me is up for the grabs. And I think Aston Villa, we've got a good enough squad to grab that fourth place. They're delighted to see him doing so well, Emery, because of the fact that's what I was saying earlier on, Paul, but they're pressed in England. Yeah. Oh, poor. They belittled him. When he was at Arsenal. When he was trying to speak English and all these sort of things. And we're an embarrassment in the go abroad. We can't say a word in Spain, in Spanish or anything like that, you know. No, it's true. No, but that's what I'm talking about. I think that's what I'm talking about. They can unsof them. And when we see our young players talking, Lewis Ferguson, it's brilliant in speaking Italian. And that's a great credit to him. But I'm sure that first Lewis would probably be trying to learn and trying to do that first in it of you and whatever. But that manager was belittled. Not because of his football abilities, but because of the very spoken issue. But that's why I'm so delighted that he's done so well. This is the Good Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go! Let's go! We can go to Malmo, Rangers in action tomorrow evening. Remember the early kick-off? Manager Philippe Clamong has been speaking to the media. Here is the injury update for Rangers, head of the game tomorrow. Okay, so we lost one player with Oscar in the training this week. So in the tackle, he got a bad knock and he will be out for several weeks. So that's a disappointing thing because he was growing back to his best level. And showing the player that he was or that he is and that he will be in the future. The rest of the squad stays the same as last weekend. Barrie, your reaction to that news on Cortez? That's a point because obviously he had suffered a serious hamstring injury last year. If you remember it, Rog Bepart, hamstring as I said. And then getting back fit and you're seeing signs that there's potentially a really good player there. So, yeah, that's a point. More than a point for the boy because he's signed in a season long alone. So several weeks, and that could be anything. That could be four, six, eight weeks. So we're just going to play it by year and see how serious it actually is in the coming weeks. But the rest of the squad is obviously healthy which is a good thing. Good news. Let's hear a bit more about his injury. Oh, it's Jules, it's football. It's part of football and you have lucky moments and you have unlucky moments. This was an unlucky one. Also not a crazy tackle, but you have Jules in football and then things can happen and he's been really unlucky. This is the last couple of months with those things. I hope all the bad luck for him stops now after this and the rest of your career will be the luck side. But it's part of football. Peter, just court has no luck at the moment injury wise. Well, that's the thing, Paul. The mind's I say that it's competitive. That's not what you want your training room to be. You know, I'm glad it's not his hamstring effect. He said injury last year because when you keep getting them recording, that becomes a problem. That becomes a worry. But the mind's I say is that a contact injury in the body will tell you. Nine times out of ten, they're the better ones to have than the pills and the tears. And like, say, Roger gets at the weekend, you know, when you see some deform like that, the other concerns. But when it's an actual contact injury, you're more pleased with that. The mind just seems positive enough about it. And going into any game, Paul, all you want is all your squad fit. Unfortunately, he's not had that many times. If he'll come on to be perfectly honest with you and we'll talk about Tom Lones. The fact that he's still available, that's important for him because I think that's Barry's talked about continuing, playing, continuing, you'll see the best of him. And he becomes a big, big player all these times. And it's not perfect for Cortes, but I'm sure there's someone to replace him. Connor, Barry, what a journey it's been for him. Barry, last season he's looking at staying in the division with him, with Aberdeen. Now, you're up a league tomorrow. Yeah, I'm really impressed by him, Paul. Again, I thought it a really good game at the weekend against Andy. He's just fully, fully beans, fully energy. And what's impressed me is actually, he's firing balls. And the center forward, the Tom Lones, like these balls that kind of kill teams. I mean, he's getting the ball off the field back at the center back. And he's first thought I was letting the ball through him and bang. Is that right, Andy? That's something that's really impressed me. But overall, again, I thought when Rangers were signing him, I'm thinking, squad player. But listening cemented, he's placing the center of the pitch, Paul. And he thoroughly deserves to be one of the first names on the team sheet. And he's not charging about as much as he was in the first few games which you noticed. Yeah, not as much, though. Listen, it's a learning cover. I'm sure in time, you'll mature and you'll understand the position a lot better. He's just trying to impress. I just think it's just a case I'm trying to impress people. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's growing that he's wanting to do that. I just sometimes think when you play that position, just stay in the position because you'll get actual more of the ball. I just felt he was running here, there, and everywhere. But again, that's some just showing a real good appetite for the game, a good attitude to try and go on the ball. But as I said, Paul, overall, being shown press by him. It's even if you've watched it now, because we've spoken about it that often. I think it's a tactic they're actually doing. But the biggest problem is, there's no corner bar. When he goes and does it, DM1, he runs away. And that's what we're saying. So he leaves it away, though. So what I think it's happening, for instance, if you're trying to imagine this. Tavernier will go high. He'll go to the right back area to receive possession so someone can't close them down. They might feel the right position, they'll have to stay there, taverniers drag someone back. So he goes into that area, or to the left back area. But when you do that, Barrie will tell you, if I was playing with Barrie, if Barrie had done that, then I would stay central. I would be the one that would cover that area, corner, but go on the ball. Or I would be free. So that's what you would try and do. But what happens when Barrie does go to the right back or left back, DM1, he gets away on. And if you lose possession, then, you're dead. Especially against the better teams. They will kill you. They will eat you up because the middle of the pitch is empty. So he's enthusiasm. It's not necessarily handling the job at all. Somebody else should be just balancing off with something. That's usually special if you're playing two. It's definitely if you're playing one, Barrie's 100%, then you don't get moved. You're just playing so at the end of that area. But if you're playing two, that's when the balance is going to be struck. So he's speaking just a few moments ago in Marmo, ahead of the game. This is, come on, speaking about the opposition. No, it's a very interesting game. So I saw that that's also from Rangers the last couple of years against Marmo. So that's not really good. So we have a fight with history in that way. It's interesting to do that. The team is very motivated to show a good face tomorrow and to grow again. Like they've been growing in the last couple of weeks to make the next step. We need to find some solutions, of course, because of the suspension of FTE. And also because Ritra Yellmas is not available yet. So that will change some things. That we didn't have much time to train on, but that we did the last couple of days. And it's about going full in this game against good opponents, very good opponents who play good offensive football, who are top of the league, who have a lot of experience in Europe with a lot of players. So everybody's excited to play this game. It's a fight with history tomorrow night by a rallying call there from the manager. Yeah, that's in the past. Paul, I've got your focus on. Yeah, I don't look at history. Did you never look at it? No, no, listen, it's done in dusty way. Your focus on what's in front of you. That's a good Marmo site. No doubt about it, interesting. You see a lesson sort of should I say, the manager's saying, "If he's suspended, who comes in at a left back area?" There's a young player coming in there. Is Sterling going there? It's got to be Sterling in my eyes. It has to be Sterling. This is a change of system and bringing ballergan in. Can you play as a team? Oh, three. Good, he can do it. I know he's never done that before. I know that, but it must be hard to change it. For me, no, no. No, the experience he's got there, Paul. Paul, Paul, and ballergan in Sutter. You can do that too, Paul. Yeah, you can do that when you come, and you could play Sterling there as a left wingback because he's got the energy to do that, and it becomes a back four. If Tavernier goes, he's just shooting on your back four. You know, so he's got the experience to do that, and it doesn't really change. It's not as if you're running out of position because whoever's playing a left wingback role or the right wingback role would still be coming that right back attacking. If you understand what I'm trying to say, a left back attacking in that side, but you'd still have three centre backs, and that would be a bit more security because the players he's got to select at the back. A fight with history. What are you thinking, Barry? No, it's interesting. It's a bit interesting to see who he goes there with. Can I move him wrong? I think he's on Sterling's plate there before. He's putting himself, don't he? Yeah, so I had no problems as I said. Look, I've talked about him funny. 20 minutes ago, he needs to find a set of position, but again, it's one of these needs must. Something needs to fill in a position. He's certainly one of these guys that can go and do it. So I would imagine that it would be Sterling that would fill in a left back. Susan's been on scene. She loved the Juan McGlenn stuff earlier on. I saw a few people were on. Peter buzzing because it was his own joke. One joke in four years. One joke. Very good. Peter, what about it then? He's saying about right, the one history really. We've heard that phrase before for Rangers tomorrow. What do you reckon? I'm the exact same as Barry. You can't do it. We can never do it anything near with the Lisbon lines down. So there's no use looking at history in any shape or form. You have got to just focus on now. The players are completely different. You know, and we understand that Malmo, the history, years gone by. Rangers are the same history. Whatever you talk about in Europe, we're getting to finals and semi-finals. Years gone by. It doesn't matter now. It's all about what's in front of you. You dust yourself down. You train tonight. You prepare. It's all about what you do tomorrow. That's all the supporters are interested. What happened yesterday? I'm not interested. How did you think I'd draw? I thought it was a draw. I think Rangers would take that now. Even though it's slightly different now because you only get the one point. You're not playing in a home in a way like. But they would take a point away from home. Then you have to look after your own games, Paul. Barry, what do you feel? I think the win again. I do. I think they'll go over there in 2-1. Because part of drag went in 1-2 now. Obviously beat them at home. 2-0 as well. Yeah, I think it's a win-able game. Rangers 2-1. Good luck. Two Rangers will be on when we're on tomorrow night with Rob McLean. Stephen McGinn and Jamie Murphy. Thanks everyone. Back tomorrow at 5. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen live weeknights from 5 on go. Let's go!
