Their mascot is literally a giant cucumber. Hear all about it every Monday in the Spanish football podcast. Good evening, everybody. Welcome to the Talking Cop. We're here for our seventh post match reactions show of the season. And for the sixth time, we will be discussing a Liverpool victory as the League Cup campaign gets started for Liverpool at home against West Ham United. And we trot out quite comfortable 5-1 winners. I'm your host Matt. I'm joined by Ashley and by Chris Brack and Chris. If that isn't just the magic of the Cubs. Yeah, nice to straight for 5-1 again. You know, French players got run out. It's all a little good day. Yeah, it, you know, Ashley, it started a bit kind of wonky-ish in terms of the score line. But we've responded now to going behind by goal twice. In quite different fashions and today was quite a bet. Yeah, yeah, I mean, I think they both put like they put out a strong team. I wasn't expecting them to go quite as strong. So I was pleased with the way that our team kind of gelled after the first. I don't know, like 15 minutes or so. But like what a great game for people that don't normally get the chance to go to the games to see. You know, I'm sure there are a lot of first-time viewers there and I just think they they got a wonderful evening. Yeah, it's always nice to get to see a handful of goals when you get to go see Liverpool and the extra. I believe what the whole bottom part of the Annie Road gets given to the traveling fans for the League Cup. So there's that many extra West Ham fans that got to make a trip up from London to watch their team take a proper spanking. But I encourage the biggest point was probably always going to be the lineup coming into the match. You know, we're into the fourth out of the seven games in 22 days in between the two international breaks in the fall. So far, we haven't seen a ton of rotation and today's the day that are in a slot really shakes up the lineup. So was that me? Was that? Yeah, sorry. Yeah, we were having a guess before saying how many changes would he do? Because we kind of knew what would happen on the clock. So, yeah, I mean, there was no sort of big surprise there, you know, it made sense to give Darwin and other runouts. Because that's probably the only surprise for me was just a start. I thought just a may have been given another nice off and started with a week in against Wolves, but apart from that, all good, all good, really. So it was good to see how the young players did. Yeah, and then Ashley, we get we get the first sighting from the start for both Jones and Endo anchoring that midfield. The question was, you know, is it going to be four to four, four, four, two, three, one? Because four attackers on the pitch, we don't have anything to go off of how they're going to line up. How did you like how slot had the team set up? I mean, it was interesting because I feel like you just bypassed the midfield for like a large chunk of time. I mean, I think they settled in as time went on in the beginning. I felt like I was, I was like, I'm missing, I'm missing our core guys. But I do think it kind of settled. I couldn't figure out what Nunes was doing for the first like 30 minutes of the game. He kept stepping on people's feet kind of. So I think maybe as much as it was a learning experience for us, it was probably a learning experience for them because it's, it's definitely, it was definitely different. Yeah, it was Jada plays that number 10 position, if that's ostensibly where he was much differently from how Dominic's office slide does. It was fun coming into this and remembering that we're actually the holders of this trophy and you know, you get to end the build up to it, get to have some of the, some of the replays of last year's time because that was, that was quite fun. It was quite fun. Chris, I agree with Ashley. I think the first 15 minutes, there was a lot of feeling out. We would get a couple of early corners, but other than that, there's not a ton that happens. West Ham don't even, I think, have a touch in our half until they get a free kick on about the 12th minute. And then the balls in the back of our net after 17 minutes, that doesn't feel good, does it? No, it doesn't. I mean, it was a bit of a, not great defending, but then it's also a little bit unlucky because I think brother thinks he's doing it off. Endo thinks he's just going to clear, of course he hits, hits poor quads in the, in the legs or in goes in. So it did feel a bit of a sucker, but you got hooked up to that. I've all bloop bloop actually. While I'm not creating anything to control bit quite well, I thought we were very good at getting the ball back. Just find a ball with a little bit sloppy, but what do you expect when you make nine changes? So, yeah, that was a bit of a kick in the teeth. You've got, okay, let's see how this, this goes. And to be honest, the response was really, really good. Yeah, we leave really no time in between it. And before they even score the balls in the back of the net, and it's ruled out for offside and everybody gets a reminder that there's no far in the early stages of the league cup, something which would come up because I'm sure I don't know about yours. But I know actually us on the international feet, they certainly by the end of the match had a narrative built up around West Ham being kind of, oh, they were a little unfortunate with some of the penalty shouts because there's no bar and they can, they can talk about that again. But the goal is unfortunate for quads. It's a second on goal for Liverpool, which is, it's not great to see. And that process, we immediately go back down the other end and the old job, it's good to see him back on that sports sheet. Yeah, I think there was four minutes exactly between the two goals. And it was great to see Kiesa also be involved in the build up to that goal. It was a very athletic assist, we'll call it. I don't think he meant the past, but I do think it looks fantastic on TV. So it was great to see him involved and it was great to see Jada kind of back on the score sheet because he has had a little bit of a lull. And it was good to see him get a header because we haven't seen that in a while and that's surprisingly one of his trademarks, even though he's kind of a little guy. Yeah, it was a great response and it was exactly what was needed. I mean, it was such a kind of like comedy of errors that own goal and, and Quanza had nothing to do with it. Like he really had nothing to do with it and the way that the commentators on the international feed were going on and on and on about Quanza and how he must feel better now and like he did nothing. He just stood there like a lamppost and literally the wall just ricocheted off of him so I'm sure he'll be fine. Yeah, great response. One of the few times describing a defender as being like a lamppost is actually a positive spin is actually a positive spin. I, from from the reply to make it one one Chris, it's, I don't know if I have a positive West Ham occurrence in my notes until just before they blow the whistle at the end of the first half. The goal that they got seemed to settle us instead of shake us, which last season we saw, you know, giving away a bit of a free goal would, would throw us and we'd be kind of all over the shop at this. It just steeled us, we got the response and then we dominated the rest of the first half by that. Yeah, like it woke up a lot, but it also looked like it annoyed. And I think West Ham will sort of get a pressure going. But it's almost like poker bear now is like, I don't really, we didn't really want that. I thought, first off Gapo was excellent. That before the goal, I thought he was our main outlet. He had Kufal on toast all first off, could not get near him. You know, that's constantly fouling. You know, so I thought, you know, he looked almost likely having you for a goal. So I listen, I thought Kieza showed flashes of what we can, we can expect from it. It's his first start. It's his first proper minutes in Sissy Orrows. But I thought we saw glimpses of what he can do is not megal on the line where I thought he was going to do a Suarez and dribble it and just pass it up on the goal for someone. There was definitely shades of that. So you can see what's coming, which is exciting. You know, it's not a bad guy to have you six choice at the moment, is it? Yeah, yeah, it's you'd be hard pressed to find a better stable of attackers in all of world football. I mean, Ashley shares a quote from John from after the match just discord and discord and and field night is always special. And then some more good numbers from our four words, four goals and two assists in his last five starts for Gapo. You know, we know that Diaz has five and five in the league. Darwin's off the mark, you know, Mo steadily contributing along. I guess he gets off the mark today with his first quote unquote assist. So everybody's chipping in and everything's looking good and it's nice when you can make the changes and leave somebody like Muhammad Salah on the bench and you're not really going to feel it. Diaz was Diaz was Diaz on the bench or was he rested completely on the bench. That's only kara say and graphic which were in school. I knew there was a couple that didn't even dress for today. So I mean, that's that's lovely to see that shows you that we can actually rotate it up. I have time comes. Pretty much no notes. I mean, I don't, I don't think that there was anything we really could have done. Better to correct any of the downfalls in the first half, Ashley, and you just. It was so obvious that the players don't play with this. Selection very often that those four four words linking together was going to take some time to get used to it so I was happy to see them make no change that half time and we go again and. He's off immediately. Yeah, I mean, the one thing that I want to go back on it 38 minutes, there was a fantastic nutmeg from keys and I just want to give him his flowers for that because it was, it was a lovely little moment. But yeah, at at 48 minutes, there was another goal Curtis Jones to Jada Jones just drove forward and absolutely made that goal and that was, that was great to see. It was great to see him kind of get back to the Curtis Jones that we know and love and have that confidence. You know, and then what was it, Gacko gave it back to Jones and then Jada held his run and then Jada just finished it down to keepers left and it was, it was a great goal. And that's what you wanted like right out of the blocks just just set it right. Go and get the lead. So I was, I was pleased about that. What do you, what about you guys. Yeah, I mean, for me, the thing I liked about it the most I'll come to you on a Chris because I can't remember if you're a card carrying member of the Curtis Jones haters society or not. But it, it was the work of Curtis Jones because he gets the ball on the edge of our box and it looks like he's doing that Curtis Jones thing where he dawdles on it a little bit too much. But instead he beats four of their players and two minutes later he's, or two seconds later he's playing the assistant for Jada Jones in or Jones out Chris. Jones take fit because where I am with Jones is what, when he's fit is a really good option. You know, I've said it for a while about Curtis Jones is he doesn't have to be a worldy. He could, Curtis Jones could actually be, and I've keeps it using the example on Nicki book, which is, he's not going to get in any all time 11s, but he's a good player that is used throughout the season to fill in in these games to give up as a rest. He's got ability, he's got goals at him. You know, and that, it's just getting a bit of continuity and consistency and he's only going to get that if he stays fit. That's really been my only annoyance with Curtis Jones is he's just another fit enough for when you need him. Because actually I think when he's on the pitch I think, love to use him as soon as he was off and fit. And I do think Jones is going to get used a lot on the slots. I think he'll do what slot was to do. He's getting better about deeper role. You know, his best role may be as a 10, but I think he can still do the deeper role as well. So, no, it was pleased. I thought it's what he needed a good run out and just to make sure things were fine. And even so the cast was all right today, which is all good. He did the most amazing sliding head I've ever seen, which is just pure suddenly desperation defenders. Was that just him like hand caked in front of his head? I'm so funny though. It worked. It worked. It worked. So, I'm not going to slag it for that, but it was funny when you saw the replay with it. Ah, it's brilliant. Also, also too fair. That means, you know, the easiest thing to do is just go out. So, you know, no one would have that either did that. But, you know, diving for a length of that was absolutely brilliant. Yeah. Yeah. I like this from Thor, the dyslexic polyglobics. Curtis Jones is what many United fans think May knew is, which, I mean, he's got a better injury record than Jones. But other than that, yeah, I just, I felt that he was one of the players that really needed to have an impact on the match, especially with there only being the two recognized midfielders in there with Endo. And I mean, we may as well come on to it now, Ashley, like before the start of the season, there was a few people obviously raising concerns about whether Ritaro Endo would fit into the system at all, whether the traits that he has as a kind of a ball winner destroyer type midfielder as opposed to a ball player was going to see him be pouring it. I know Gabb is not a big believer in Endo's ability to even kick a ball. I thought Ritaro Endo was actually quite tidy with the ball in possession today. Yeah. I mean, he definitely is different. He's different from our starting midfield. And you could see, like, I don't know how to put my finger on it. But like when he tackles the ball, it doesn't, it doesn't go where we want it to go. It sort of just like goes out to another opposition player, or it goes out off touch. But it's, I feel like with the starting 11 midfields, there's a little bit more control there. But in terms of just like getting it done and like getting from one side of the game to the other side of the game, like he's a workable option. He's not horrible. Like he can, he can play football. He's captain of his, his national team. So he's not a bad option to have. And I'd rather have him than not have him. There was a moment where he was like holding his ribs at the end of the second half. And I was worried there, you know, not because he plays a ton, but because we're short on numbers. And I will take kind of any able body in the midfield that we can get. So, but you know, in general, the answer to your question, I think he did a laudable job. I don't think he was like a standout, in my opinion. But I think he, for his first start of the entire season, I think he did well. Yeah. And what, what about you, Chris? Cause there's, you get a little bit of consensus out of the, out of the chat. Super dizzy. I think he was maybe just trying a bit too hard, but other than that, it seems like people like to end up. Yeah, I think that I think he was trying to be a bit over expansive, which is in his game. You know, he should, what he's sort of keeping it simple. That was fine. I think maybe it was by design to bypass the midfield a little bit, which is, we've got one old school destroyer. And we've got a guy getting his, trying to get his rhythm back. So to put a few extra attackers and go, go slightly different route, which shows a bit of tactical flexibility, which is maybe that's where he's going to go in the cup, in the domestic cup games, when you can't play what you would call his start at 11. So, but, you know, I thought, and it was fine. You know, not, not for spectacular, but he stopped that type of play. I thought he was fine. There's, there's no real worry. Probably the only one I thought could have done a bit better on the night. Probably didn't take his opportunity was Bradley. Maybe I thought it was a bit, a bit sloppy in the ball. Sometimes positionally got caught out a little bit, but again, he's your player. So, you know, they are going to have games like that. They'll learn from that, but that's probably nitpicking. Did you, did you feel, because I kind of on Bradley, I kind of felt like he was being asked to play a little bit more like Trent would play as the right back, as opposed to playing how we saw him play in the past. He wasn't doing so much of the rampaging runs, but he was finding a fair more of the ball in those little inside channels that could see Trent. Yeah, I think he's still learning that side of his game, because I still think he's more of a Robertson-style fullback than a Trent. You know, I think he's more of an up and down one than an inverter, but listen, he's young, so they could probably develop that into his game. But, you know, like I said, I'm probably nitpicking. You know, but he's probably doing all I thought, you know, because we've seen how Willie can play. I thought that was a little bit below his normal level, but I mean, be honest, if that's the only nitpick you can have on a game. So be it, you know, I'm not going to really want to get Willie down with it. Yeah, yeah, no, it's, I mean, we won five one. So really exactly. Yeah, so, you know, you're going out of your way to try to find things to complain about. I've tried to be balanced. Yeah, I don't think that's true, but we'll let you have it for now. We approach the hour and both teams start making changes. Obviously, La Pategi, who he just looks beat down. He just looks like he hasn't had a decent night's sleep in weeks at four-guy. We bring on most of her Kiesa. It was said before the match of Kiesa was never going to do the 90. And then McAllister comes on for Jada. They make a switch, Antonio, for Ings, Peketa came on. I eventually figured it out for Souchak. I couldn't figure out who he came on for. Good, because I'm glad you wrote that down. I couldn't figure it out either. I thought it was Solaire. And then Solaire had a shot like 20 minutes later. I was like, shit, I guess it wasn't him. And I really had to think through their team. Yeah, it had to have been Souchak because Alvarez is also involved in the rest of the match. Shortly after that, Kelleher has kind of his first piece of action since the ball went into the net, really. He comes out and collects across quite nicely. And then there's a pass from Alexis McAllister, Ashley, into Curtis Jones. I think Jones might have had a tiny bit more space than he anticipated, because he didn't really get anything on the ball to try to get it around the keeper or under him. But it was a gorgeous pass from Alexis McAllister. Yeah, he just, he just didn't get enough power on it. He sort of like toe poked it with the outside of his boot. And it would have been a beautiful goal. And I feel like that's kind of becoming one of McAllister's signatures is like that really, like the pass that nobody else sees except for him, because he's got that level of football intelligence and it was, it was so, so close. But thankfully, that wasn't the end of the game. No, it wasn't. I mean, shortly thereafter, Jones does well again, ref doesn't really give him the foul. I thought the ref had an OK today in terms of madly, but I have it down on 65 and a half minutes, and it should be 2-2. Michael Antonio does excellent to get past Bradley, puts it into Somerville, nice pass into the box. The ball ends up coming to Kilman in the middle. And Chris, this is the benefit of having a quality backup goalkeeper, isn't it? Because that's excellent keeping from Kelleher to go down, up and then back down again to make that save. Isn't that also with the silver cast? Yeah, that's right. This is supercast rolling on the ground. I'd be honest, the best thing about that is he just distracted and that just puts a set. I think if that's not the centre back, if that's in Antonio, I think he probably still just tried to chip it. And he's probably quite comfortable with it. So, you know, that's probably the one advantage. So, I was really impressed with Kelleher, I thought he was solid. If what he needs to do, the Queen doesn't manage to keep it out. I don't quite know how they manage to keep it out, but it is. Yeah, you do everything you can to keep it out. And then we get a string of yellow cards. Albrez gets his first one for a terrible lunging tackle on Simicast. And then, I mean, Chris, West Ham were claiming it was very old school, like players acting like if they just pretend hard enough that the ref will give a penalty, even if there's not one, because there's no VAR. And Simicast was fully confident that that ball didn't hit him in the hand first. I wasn't worried there. I was worried. But then when you see the first replay, it's so in his stomach, it's a trick. He's like, wait. But Love, Peggy, and Paquetta both just absolutely lose the plot and pick up yellow cards for descent. Ooh. That's a view right there. Next round of the League Cup, Spurs are going to host Man City. That's excellent. That's excellent. Another easy win for Sissy. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And shortly thereafter, though, I mean, you said, Chris, that Bradley could have improved a little bit on it, but he did excellent for our third goal. Mo Salah, his now trademark kind of side pocket pass to Bradley, scrambled in the front. I don't know how McAllister doesn't put the ball into the back of the net, but Mo Salah, there he's it. And that's the kind of positions we want to see Connor Bradley getting into, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I thought Mo Salah came into, came on and he's like, ranges away mode, which is, I'm just going to go on and set the piss. He was just in that sort of mood. And look, Bradley's on the lap. It's really good. Good pick out for McAllister. McAllister is really unlucky because it's a good hit. And I'll be honest, the West Ham keeper, he's all looking because it's a good save. It makes by against McAllister. And I'll be honest, as soon as Mo hits it, it's pasted before he can even get up. So as good as that. Oh, brighten the way. That's a bit of an arse level. Oh, that's not good. It's not great, but it's... It took me worse. When do we play a way to brighten in the league? Because it's probably not bad to go there in the cup first. And... We've got a brand new NFL season to enjoy. And that means all new episodes of the Nakuob Show, where I'm joined by some of the very best NFL broadcasters in the business. Just search the Nakuob Show on your podcast platform of choice. Let me... Well, while you're doing that, I'll check me, Google. Ashley, we can have a little talk about what is clearly a second yellow kid red card for Edson Alvarez. I don't know what he's thinking. I actually think that Mossella was clever there. I think that Mossella slowed his run down and then just accelerated away, knowing that he had the change of pace to do that. And it was almost like he was baiting him, and he took the bait, like hookline and sinker. And it was definitely a second yellow. There's nothing to fight that with. I mean, I think the narrative that I've seen is a little bit annoying where they're talking about how that swung the game for West Ham. And I don't think that had anything to do with the direction that the game was traveling in. Yeah, that was a bit annoying for anybody watching the international. Oh, what do you got for us? It didn't sound like a good at home. This is the running. So after the international break, Chelsea at home, Leipzig away, Arsenal away, Brighton away in the lead cup, Brighton at home in the league. Labour Kingston at home, Villa at home international break. That is our October November. That's a tasty game. Yeah, there's something boring about that. Definitely you're going to be using your squad because we literally break them back to back. Well, that's a lot of them there nicely. So I'm happy then to have at least a warm up match against Brighton in the cup where you don't have to feel bad if you lose it and we can focus on the league game. I guess we could just stay in Brighton for like a few days. Yeah, it probably could do. No, but we play, we play them at home in the league though, don't we? Oh, do you play my home in the league yet? So their way games don't turn back. Yeah, nice. Nice track. Trying to get them out of the night. Just like it might have worked out for a second. I mean, Alexis McAllister ends up being kind of all over my notes in the half hour. So he's on the pitch for us, Chris. Who's excellent. Great shot on 80 minutes. It's good saved by Fabiansky actually to save it off onto the post and then Gacko puts it on. It's a crop shot by Gacko. It's terrible. I mean, to be fair to Gacko, he does make up for it. But yeah, McAllister was just so lucky. It's one of those lovely cameras where you bring someone on and you just go, "Ah, it's just taking the mic here." This is the attacking midfield. McAllister goes, "Ah, yeah, I remember it." And he was brilliant, wasn't he? Yeah. Look at those stats. Ashley sharing. Gerald Kwanza passing for Liverpool tonight against Westam. 105 of 108 passes completed. 97 percent. 8 of 10 long balls completed, which impressive. Most touches of any player, 123 and a goal. A goal. I mean, it felt like we were going to score more, Chris. It just felt like Westam, once that third goal went in, that they were just kind of like... The red card was done in. Yeah. I mean, he did a lot of tag in because I think that along after the red card, he jumped up to kick off again. I think he's pulled his calf doing it. So he did it with you. Really massaging his leg there. Yeah, yeah. They were saying in the comments that he jumped up to really kick off. I think he did himself mischief. What was that? You're going to gain Spurs two years ago at the end. Oh, was it a little hamstring? Yeah. Yeah, he pulled his hamstring and he got abandoned. He got abandoned, which is pure yoga club. Yeah. Aren't they playing much better football than when they're David Mois? No. No. I mean, I'll say, I hope, I mean, game ballerge, I don't think he follows us, so we're okay. It doesn't seem to light you, um, disagreeing that Loperte here is majestic because he's been at Real Madrid, which he lasted a game at. And he's been at Spain, which he didn't get to do the tour because he took the Real Madrid job and basically didn't last very long on Real Madrid. And then sort of went, went away because he was as good as he said he is. I thought before he won't be at Westam. Yeah. Yeah. So what does it feel like? It feels, it feels very, uh, to bore up. Crystal Palace at the moment. It just feels like you're waiting for him to go because I actually don't think he played much different style football for what I've seen. I don't know how they can just be so insipid. So this is the first full Westam match. I've watched them this season. I've watched them like their extended highlights of all their other matches, but I wasn't jealous. Okay. But that was pretty grim. Yeah. That's that. That one was that did not turn out well for him. No, but you look at their attacking talent and they've got, they've got good attacking players. You know, Antonio is Michael Antonio and Dannyings is Dannyings. We know that. But Bowen and Kudos and Paquetta and Crescio Somerville, I think is pretty dynamite young player. So layer on loan from PSG. Like those are good attacking players and they've still got most of that core defense that's there. I think adding Kiliman was, was potentially a good move. Obviously it hasn't been. But you know, Creswell, Sioux fell Sioux check. They're not, they're not world beaters, but they should provide solid defense. But they, they're terrible Chris. Yeah, they're absolutely rubbish. Play with no comments. I don't really know. It just doesn't seem to be a plan. That's what I don't understand. They parked the bus like as soon as they arrived. Like the first 10 minutes, they didn't even come out of their first, like out of their half at all. Like a single time. Yeah. That's what I mean. I just don't get it. Yeah. Oh yeah. Great defender in the history of football place for West Ham. Aaron Wombasaka. Yeah. Well. Hey, I'll be honest. Do it by the money. It's called the perfect. They probably could do it taking them back. Was it one more of their seats? 20. Oh dear. How old am I to get full in a net? I'm good. That's not good. Well, I mean, Madja Apple points out here that, uh, Arneslot is referencing Cody time. I mean, Ashley, that's what we saw. We, uh, at 90 minutes and 90 plus three Cody Gacko just pure garbage time stat padding. And I'm absolutely here for it. I love it. And too nice finishes. Absolutely. I mean, I thought he was great. All game. I really do. I think, um, you know, I'm glad he stayed on that left side. And I'm glad that we have like what great options to be able to choose from on our left side. Because I thought Gacko was like just as good as Diaz has been, um, and is, is showing a real fight to kind of get that starting place back. Um, and to be able to rotate between them. It's like what riches that we have. Um, and yeah, I don't know. I mean, I'm, I'm just happy for him. He really getting this run of form, I think is exactly what he needs. And we saw it in international beauty. And there were so many times where like commentators would be like, Oh, well, he's not the same player for Liverpool. And I think we're seeing him be that player now. And I think it's a lot of it has to do with positional like where he is on the pitch. Um, and, and having him have a manager that kind of understands what his strengths are. Yeah. And it adds those goals to it. It keeps him taking over because that's, that is the thing, you know, goes away on international duty and bangs and goals. It was the same with Louis Diaz. And that's really like you look at his, his run that he had with Columbia leading up to this season and he's just powering the goals into the national team. But why aren't they doing it for Liverpool? Apparently, apparently, Arna Slut has the ability to unlock that from our players. Uh, for the first one though, Chris, I was really happy to see Darwin Nunes, uh, contributing positively to it. I think it's a, it's a lovely back heel touch in the one, two that he plays with gak po for it because out of all the forwards, he was probably the quietest. So it was good to see Darwin play the full 90 and get involved in the sports sheet for the fourth. Yeah, he did all the right movements. So I don't, I honestly, we play it from four. Sometimes there's always one that's the old one out and it just doesn't go for you. But he's involved and it's a very typical Cody gak, both finished that. He does like that. It's either back post tapping or shots at the edge of the box. He's, he's really good with both. So, yes, please. I thought, I thought Ash was right. I thought he deserved a goal because I thought his performance was really good. Second one. Um, the best bit of second one is, um, he turns kudos inside out. Kudos gives up. That was, that was vicious. That was vicious. How badly he did kudos there. Oh, yeah. I mean, look, he gets a bit of luck, you know, because the deflection beats the key. But you know what? That was sometimes a criticism of his people taking off risks. And I like the fact that he's always on the left now. And it's almost like we're just saying, right, it's gak po ideas. So whoever plays the one that, you know, pull the socks off and they seem to be, it's going to be jotter or newness to the middle. Kays are all salad on the right, which they're more right with because that's kind of like, they all have set positions. You know, it will be a little bit of a change, but then, you know, that's, that's who comes in for each person. And I think it just, I think it makes everyone's life a bit easier, you know, because you just know you're doing more position, not three. And I think sometimes that's where gak po became a bit like jack of all traffic. Jack of all trades, master of null. I think that's sometimes hers. Yeah. And it helps players like gak po or like Kiesa, who don't, who can't rely on. I mean, really, there's only one player that can rely on being first choice. And that's most Salah. But for a guy like Federico Kiesa, he knows that the only, if Mo's not playing, he's going to play that he doesn't have to worry that they might move jotter out to the right. Or they might be back going on the right. That this is the depth chart. And if the number one isn't playing and you're number two, it means you're playing. We're not going to move somebody from over here. Everybody just goes forward with it. I don't think there's any. There's no risk that the gak po second goal gets taken off him and put down as a. No, it's like a stud classes on target. Yeah. So I couldn't see a decent enough replay from behind the net to see whether or not it was going towards the goal or not. Oh, it says, all right, kev's getting us started. kev's off on his jolly tonight, but being a good, being a good man and checking in with the chat. Yeah. It says gak po was the outfall all night. Man of the match for me goals topped it off. Ashley, you going with gak po? Or would you like to put forward another name for man of the match? I have to agree with him there. I really do. I think I think he's the one that has looked like he's been seizing his opportunity and he definitely did that today. Brachy. It's probably the right answer book because it's careful. I'll just say Kurt Jones just to be a shit. Absolutely. It's just plus I know a lot of white people up as well. So that's always good. Yeah. That's the strangely quiet, the local chapters of the first. Yeah. The certain people in the chat, I haven't seen it since the forest game. You know, I'm sure they'll be back. Yeah. Well, I mean, like cicadas every, you know, 17 or 13 years or whatever it is. Show up all at once and make annoying buzzing sounds. I would have to go with gak po as well too. I would, I would give an honorary mention to Joe Gomez. I thought Joe Gomez was getting his first minutes of the season. Very solid, very consistent being the leader out there. You know, you wouldn't have known that we had given up an own goal. Again, Kwanza shook that off. Kwanza didn't have a great game, but I didn't think it was terrible. But it was just nice to see Joe Gomez because he did have that kind of late in the window. Kind of flirtation with leaving the team and you don't know how he's going to sit back. He looks good. He actually looks good as a left side, a centre back option. I have to think of the other three centre backs you could play on the left or all right sided. He's probably the best option of the three to play on the left. Because I think Kwanza just naturally looks more comfortable on the right as does Karate. Joe actually looks all right on the left. So, you know, I think that's also handy one to use him as a way of resting virgial in those sort of games because he looks comfortable there to be fair. Yeah. And I'm hoping somebody explained to Arna Slide and the new coaching staff why the crowd is shouting when, when I, I think it was maybe when we were three. Just like it does, it does matter. It does matter in the ground. I completely forgotten about the whole. Oh, I hate that. That's one thing I hate to answer. I know we all talk, I would love Joe Gomez to go up. But every season I shine, she got honest. He was up. We had a corner late in the game and he was actually up in the six. No, he's the cuffle. I know. It's like, oh, shit, he's going to get a nose bleed and miss out on a sitter to score his only goal possibility for it. But yeah, it's, I think, I don't think anybody really had a poor game. Like Chris, is there anybody that, I mean, you said Bradley, maybe, but like. Yeah, I think by his standards, he could probably, there's a couple of little things he can do better. But like I said, it's not terrible for us. It's just like nitpicking going. You know what he can do. I thought anybody else was solid or pretty good. You know, a couple of mentions to me. I talked a bit all right. To be fair. I know I'm not his biggest fan, but actually as I was up, it kept saying he was poor. He was bored. He was okay. Yeah. See, the thing with semi-cast for me is I have so little expectations of him now that when he doesn't do like he did against Nottingham forest and just goes off like a homing missile. I'm fine with it. That's fine. There was one point where he just like stopped running where I got real nervous. I forget what I just. Yeah. I do. He stopped running and he let the, he let them have a shot on target. And I thought that was going to be his moment. We ended up, we ended up conceding a corner out of that. It was him and Kwanzaa and Kwanzaa's quick. Kwanzaa's clearly shepherding the man and semi-cast is coming back towards the ball and then semi-cast just stops and it's like. I'm worried about developing in an agenda or an aneurysm when it comes to cost as semi-cast. So just let it go. He was fine. I'm actually pointing out it was Joe Gomez's 250th appearance for the club today, which is not nearly enough for our longest serving player because I also heard that and was like. Didn't Robbo bring up like 250 in the league. Early. He's not. He's not. He's not. He's not some hotter adrenaline. You know, he's blue is patella tendon, you know, broke her ankle. You know. Silly's injury as well. It's a rarity of football. It's not even his anymore. It's just reconstructed. Yeah. It's a funny basketball injury from what I've read about. So it's not a nice injury to get. Horse parts and everything like that. So on on to him and whatnot. Just a few more quotes that Ashley's compiled for us. I was so sorry. I was so sorry. I learned a lot on Federico. I was pleased that he could play already 60 minutes. It was important to get more match fitness. And that's what he got it today. Goes on to say, I think the Ogo deserved it deserves it as he played a lot of games for us already. He's been important for us in every single game. He's played. He scored two really good goals. Just as a sidebar. Please the international comms. I don't know. I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do. We know what to do next show now, don't we? It's his name. You're a professional broadcaster. She's named properly. Arna Slott said, we showed today and in the last weeks that we have quality players, which is absolutely correct. Ah, here we go. A lot. Say sorry for our 3000 fans here. We are very disappointed for our supporters. We don't deserve this score. We did a lot of good things. We make a good first half. They scored their goal with an offside. That's clear. That was offside. Yeah. Ah, well, they're the breaks. They're the breaks. I think they actually got into this round, though, because of a similar situation. It wasn't offside, but it was a bow and hand ball that they got in over Bournemouth. Even with our own goal, there's a guy stood next to the keeper offside. He doesn't touch the ball, but he's still next to the keeper offside. Isn't that not interfering with play? Yeah, well, I've no sympathy. This would be the same manager who next week would be saying, why have we got VAR-8 VAR? You know, every once in a while, when it doesn't go the way you want it, you don't want it. You know, I find it bizarre. You've got two Premier League size playing. You don't use it. But, you know, thems are breaks. I think we had that. We had a bit of luck against Leicester last year, where they scored a goal that's two yards offside. And we go, what do you do? What do you do about the officials up? Yeah, it's okay today. I mean, considering the absolute, like, histrionics that they were doing in our penalty box, I think, like, every single thing that was even remotely close to the arm was being screamed for. I was so diverse to get a soft penalty, though. Just because I just went to see Lopotay and he explode. I was so tired. I was like, oh, I've always just fallen over that one of those really soft ones. That's what Lopotay and his head explode. It would have made my day that. It's, it's poor Lopotay. He just, he looks like he hasn't had a good night's sleep and way, way too long. He looks like he knows he's like, I don't know if it's out of his depth, but he knows that this has been a really poor start to the season for him. Yeah, Brian O'Hara and says, wasn't he at Wolves? He keeps getting sacked. I believe he quit that way. He quit, he quit Wolves because I think he was promised certain things by the Wolves' ownership for the summer. And they said, oh, yeah, we can't do it. So, I'm going, then. I mean, he was that significantly. Yeah, he's been back at West Island. It's a lot of money. And they've kept all the big stars. You know, we all expected someone like a kudos or someone to possibly be sacrificed and didn't get it. You know, you've got to keep them all. So he, he hasn't really got much of a ground to stand on now because it's like, you've been backed, you've got a, it's decent squad. He's got, you know, there's plenty of decent options there. It should be doing better than what it is. But defensively, it doesn't look as solid as it was in the boys. Yeah, attacking wise. It hasn't quite got going yet. Yeah. Yeah. Sam Tanne says he will lose. No, no, no. This cat doesn't attack. This cat's nice. Sam Tanne says, I'm sure he quit the Spain job as well. But I think you said, Chris, that he didn't quit the Spain job. So he got the range. He had the Spain job. And he got the Real Madrid job. And Real Madrid announced it before the tournament. It's where the tournament started. He got pissed off and sacked him on the spot for being unprofessional. So he didn't even get to manage Spain on the tournament. So he got sacked for getting the Real Madrid job. And I'm sure he only was the Real Madrid two, three months. And he was gone. So. Yeah. He said he's absolutely good jobs for not some great. Yes. Yes. But keep up. He says he's amazing. So we should all show up and, you know, that's what he told him. Keep up. Keep up. He said earlier in the chat. Somebody said earlier in the chat that for an elite European manager, he seems to manage a lot of mid table clubs. So it's a very, it's a very good. I don't remember. He can go well for him at PSG. I think he got a bit of a bomb dealer. I thought he did all right there if he did back a bit more. But then he went away to. Was it Valencia? But he went away and did well and did well. You know, play level. You know, so you can kind of see why then a bit away from going. He's done really well. I just don't think that's a bit enough to get the hype being given. Yeah. It's bad when you have to imagine it. There's West Ham fans and West Ham fans going through going. Boy, I wish we would have stuck with David Mice. And I think there's probably people that are thinking that. I do think the time to move David Mose on was right. I think I think he probably stayed six years longer than he should have. He probably actually should have quit after the conference. I think that actually would have been the perfect time for him to leave. But that I sort of had to take the experiment as things have worked. Yeah. No. Another quote here from Arna Slice says, "If you are facing a team like West Ham, you know they can threaten you since I've been here. It's never been easy, but I know the results say is, says different." I'm wait for it to then say, "I can't believe you lost a forest." 'Cause he needs to say that in every interview. Yeah. That's his bogey team. That's absolutely his bogey team. Oh, and I did. I am remiss from finding this out. Derek McCormick earlier in the show, throwing us two-year-old Super Chat, which is absolutely wonderful. But I mean, is Derek a member? Derek's not a member. You're half the way to a membership, I think, with that. Oh, maybe you are a member. I think that's what that thing beside his name is. But we'll take, after YouTube takes their cut, we'll take that Super Chat and it all goes towards our two charities, which we are still and continuing and will always continue to be raising money for until we get our fundraising target. It is the Lighthouse Cafe in Dublin. It is fans supporting food banks in Liverpool. Two wonderful organizations that we're trying to raise 5,000 euros each for to help them out, making sure that people don't go to bed without a decent meal, a hot bit of food to put into their valleys because times are tough, and winter is quickly coming around the corner. So places like this are needed more than ever. Well, anything else before we go, Ashley? No, I think, you know, that wraps up a pretty good evening for us. What are the next five minutes? What are the next five minutes? What are the next five minutes? It's the late game on Saturday. Yeah, late game Saturday and then home to Bologna, midweek in the Champions League, and then early game Saturday afterwards. Bob Paddock figures we should play the same 11 against Bologna to prevent disaster at Palace, the early kickoff in two Saturdays time. Concerned about disasters at Palace, Chris? No, because our record at Palace is actually pretty good. I think since the horror 13, 14, 3, 3, draw, I think actually we have a decent record there. I'm not sure since Thursday was. I think we've won really have a sample and got a couple of drawers. So it's a tricky, it's part of the way it's always tricky, but I think if your mentality is right and your effort's right, you will win. They just make it tough for you, especially for the 12th Thursday. And also we're used to 12th this at Palace and different, right, with them. So I'm not concerned about that. There's two bigger games to worry about before that. We've got to get Wolves away at the way first and Bologna at home. I think the gap is quite decent. Is it Wednesday Saturday? So it's Wednesday Saturday, Wednesday Saturday. Yeah, so it's a decent stuff. You know, we used to get noise if it was like a Thursday. The nearly Saturday game. I'm not too old. Plus the Bologna games at home. So there's no lot of trouble issues, so I'm not too old either. Yeah, exactly. Not a lot of traveling. First things first. I mean, one game at a time, all those tropes and all that sort of stuff. Yes, as much as Gar and Emmett are trying to make you believe that there is a call and show coming up afterwards. But Gav has been disposed otherwise, so we will have to put off the as yet to be named viewers call in reaction show for after the next match. So do try to think of a name. I was thinking like, and now that we've all calmed down would be a cool. Like a viewers reaction show, something really wordy, like a good word. So you make Gav say it all the time, you know. Yeah, making so intriguing. That's the key. So that's the gap. Illinois gaps. Exactly. I'll get some creative juices going. Talk and cop extra time call in. I mean, Emmett's barely even trying with that. That is a coleslaw on top of lasagna type answer right there. Just not nearly good enough. But what was certainly good enough was liver pools response to going down a goal to West Ham in the third round of the English League Cup to care about cup. And we come back and storm off with a five to one victory. It is absolutely lovely. So now we will travel the way to Brighton in the middle of a jam packed October month before hosting Brighton in the league in the next leg. Of the league cup. But thank you very much to Chris. Thank you very much to Ashley. Thank you for everybody in the chat for joining us. Please go ahead and hit the like button on your way out. Share, subscribe, all that good stuff. But also help us out with our charity partners. And we will see you after the next show. Bye bye. This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network. [Applause]
