You've got everything you need to know heading into the weekend from local experts across the Lockdown Podcast Network. I'm your host, Kevin Ostreicher and this is the ultimate NFL pregame show. So we have a bunch of great games to get into for week two from the prime time game of Texans in Bears. So the big 425 matchup in Kansas City to why the Ravens and Raiders game could have some interesting storylines in that 1 p.m. window, we're going to go game by game to make you the most informed fan for game day. We already have one game in the books as the Buffalo Bills feed to the Miami Dolphins on a Thursday night football, but plenty of other really juicy matchups to dive into really an all three window. So we'll be taking it through what the local experts here on the Lockdown Podcast Network had to say, biggest storylines, key matchups, things that each team needs to do to win and of course predictions. So let's start off with a divisional round rematch between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions. And we have James Yarko of Lockdown Bucks and Matt Derry of Lockdown Lions here to take you through everything you need to know about the matchup. Matt and James locked on Lions locked on bucks, bucks coming to Ford Field, just like they did last year for the playoff game, which turned out to be a great football game. Hi, James. What are the bucks got to do to win? What do you see is some keys here is how they get this thing done. First and foremost, Baker Mayfield has got to be as accurate and efficient as he was against Washington. Chris Godwin still needs to be the focal point of the offense and they have got to shut down Amman Raw Saint Brown. So Baker Mayfield on Sunday went 24 for 32 89 for touchdowns. But here's where it really got interesting for Baker Mayfield and what I mean when I talk about he's got to be as efficient as he was. He was 10 of 12 for 145 and three touchdowns when throwing at or beyond the first down marker. That's an 83.3% completion percentage. And on passes of 10 or more yards, he was five of seven for 105 and two. That's what the Liam Cohen offense has brought to the box in addition to those threats that I mentioned in Jalen McMillan and Bucky Irving. They really open up a whole slew of different options for Baker. And that Liam Cohen offense is kind of a spinoff of what Detroit just saw against the Rams last week. Now, something else that I noticed that kind of parallels between the two, Baker Mayfield on Sunday only ran play action four times. He was two or four of Matt Stafford's 51 dropbacks against Detroit. They only ran play action seven times. So I don't expect a lot of play action in this game. It's going to be straight up. Liam's going to call some plays. Baker's going to put him in the best position and they are going to go as far as Chris Godwin. He's in that Cooper Cup role in Liam Cohen's offense. He's back in the slot. He had eight targets for eight receptions, 83 yards, five of his eight receptions came on third down and resulted in a first down. You go back to Sunday, Cooper Cup, 14 receptions on 21 targets for one 10 and one. That's going to be Chris Godwin in this game, not 21 targets, but that's going to be the role that he plays and that's how the Bucks offense is going to continue to move the ball down the field and try to put themselves in a position to score. As for Amman Raw, he is one of the best receivers in the NFL bar nut. He is absolutely phenomenal and he had a bad game. Three catches for 13 yards, golf and Saint Brown are not going to let that happen again. So last year against the Bucks in the division around 77 yards and a touchdown, but the two games combined, he had 20 receptions for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Amman Raw was the driving force for the Lions against Tampa, a beaten up secondary. No Antoine Winfield Jr. They have to find a way to contain Amman Raw, Saint Brown and force golf to look in other directions. Force Jameson Williams to do it a second week in a row, challenge the run game to go against a very good Buccaneers run defense or they have, you know, Gibbs and Montgomery as passing threats out of the backfield, but it starts with Amman Raw. If you can keep him to the same stat line that the Rams did, you have a chance to win this game. Yeah. I mean, you and I agree. I don't think that's happening. And I mean, not that stat line. Right. Right. Three or 13 was an anomaly, but you give Rams credit, they took him away. I'll say this for the Lions, you know, what we saw in overtime Sunday night, eight plays in that final drive that ended in the Montgomery touchdown, seven runs get back to that a little bit. No one loves Jameer Gibbs more than me and, and he's, he's fantastic, but there's got to be a way that David Montgomery gets more touches consistently in this game. I thought they went away from him too much third and fourth quarter and then, Oh, over time, well, we need to pound the rock and they, and they go there. So that'll keep Baker and that explosive bucks off and it's off the field. If they're running the football and they're getting some chunks with Montgomery, I think it was last year in Tampa, Montgomery was, was eating for a while and doing well and got hurt in that game. So stays healthy and does this thing. I think that'll be a key. You mentioned something I had written down. If Chris Godwin is in that Cooper cup role, the Lions have got to find a way. If Godwin's playing that motion game that they did with cup to, to, to find him. I think the Lions past defense did a good job for the most part. There weren't a lot of explosive plays, chunk plays for the Rams, but if you're telling me that the new OC down in Tampa has a little Sean McVay in him, then he's going to watch that film and say, wow, let's put our guys in motion. Maybe Godwin turns into cup and that can't happen if the Lions want to win. Um, and the third key is, is I think long fields for Baker with this crowd, what's going on to Ford field right now? And I know bucks fans heard it last year. It's insane. I mean, it is like a, I mean, it's, it's, it's a rock concert. It's everything. It's, it's, it's craziness. And Jack Fox continues to be a huge key for the Lions. Booming puns, you have Baker along field. It's got to go 90 yards. I know now with this silly new kickoff rule, everything's at the 30 it seems like, but let's see Baker start at the five and have to go 95 yards. Let's see that, that bucks off is a couple of times the flip field. Jack Fox doing his thing, crowd into it, could cause some disruption there. So I think those are a few things I think James, the Lions need to do. Yeah, I mean, four field is, is no joke. David Harrison, the host of lockdown commanders on this network. He and I were sitting about eight inches away from each other during that game. We were having to text one another in order to have a conversation because we could not hear it is, it is loud. And I know the bucks have been working on trying to simulate, you know, the, the silent counts and, and, and try to simulate the crowd noise. You cannot replicate. I have been to a lot of concerts in my life and my ears have never run as much as they did leaving Ford field after that game. It is electric and I love it for Lions fans, man, they have suffered for far too long. I loved that the crowd gets so amped up and they have a team that they can, can love and cheer on that much. I think the Lions are going to win this football game. I think like you said before, I see a shootout. I think that, you know, Baker and that bucks offense and some of the new backs and, I don't think the Lions defense will be terrible, but I, I think Tampa is going to, going to have some success. So I could see a 37 31 type of game here where again, it's on that number of Vegas in our friends at Fando 11 at six and a half. I could see a 37 31 game here where the Lions prevail, a Saint Brown will bounce back and I think some of that rust will be off of the Lions. What do you say? Yeah, that, that Lions moved a little bit because it was at seven. So now it's, it's come down just a little bit. I think the bucks cover, but with all these injuries, especially Antoine and then Kaleja can see that's the other really, really big one that affects the bucks ability to rush the passer. I don't know if they have the horses to be able to pull off and upset in Detroit. I think it's going to be close and like I said, I truly believe that this is not the last time you and I are going to speak in the 2024 season. I think these two are destined to meet each other again in the playoffs, but I could see this one being 35 31 37 35 like it's, it's going to be tight and it's going to be high scoring. Hammer the over, but I, I just, I don't think the bucks get this one done for more on James and more on Matt, check them out over at the locked on bucks and locked on Mayan's podcast part of the lockdown podcast network, your team every day. Let's now move down to Dallas, where the New Orleans Saints coming off a dominant win over the Carolina Panthers in week one will travel to Dallas to take on Dak Prescott and those Cowboys who were able to defeat the Cleveland Browns, a big matchup and NFC bout and we'll be talking with Marcus Moser and Ross Jackson of locked on Cowboys and locked on Saints about what they feel each team has to do to win to cross over edition of the locked on Cowboys and locked on Saints podcast. We are discussing the biggest keys to victory for the Cowboys and the Saints because you're the road team. Ross, why don't you go ahead and give us some things that you're looking for in this contest. Yeah, absolutely. I think this one really comes down to kind of three big things for me. I want to see the New Orleans Saints play to their brand and that goes for both sides of the football. They can't necessarily be worried. So many people outside of the facility are focused on who the opponent is. The Saints need to be focused on who they are and what their identity is in playing to that identity. Right? Like, that's got to be the biggest thing for them. This big issue for them last year was not having an identity, not necessarily feeling like they had a DNA in terms of what they were foundationally. That can't be the case here this season. And this is a game to where you have to prove that you can maintain who you are despite who you're lined up across from. So I think that becomes really important. I think creating space in the run game and then moving Dak Prescott off the timing of his connection with those wide outs has to be big or pass catchers as a whole has to be big for this team as well. Creating space in the run game, nothing has a bigger impact for a rush offense up against a run defense than creating space, right? There's no bigger killer of good run defense than space. It's the Saints need to find a way to continue to implement that. They did a good job of it last year last week running for over 30 rushes averaging more than with Alvin Camara averaging over five yards per carry. That's what you want to see in this game as well, of course, getting out in here and the sort of extension of the run game in the passing game, very important as well in the short game. And then in terms of just keeping Dak Prescott off the timing with those receivers, it's exactly what it sounds like. And so you have to do that by either creating pressure up front with your front four or simulated pressure from the second level on the same to been one of the best teams doing that over the course of the past two years. And so I would expect them to continue to implement some of their more interesting pressure packages going into this one as well, that those are kind of the things that are most important for me. And you mentioned Dak Prescott kind of moving him off the spot. Earlier in Dak Prescott's career, he was fantastic getting outside the pocket and like that's actually where he was the best. As he's aged, he's really a just a drop back pocket passer now. And I think certainly early in the season, he's not going to be willing to take hits and throw the ball down the field. I think that's where he's going to tuck the ball, get two yards slide or he's just going to dump the ball underneath. That's a big thing. Can the Cowboys protect Dak? If they can, I think they're going to win. If he's taking a bunch of hits and he's having to get outside the pocket, that's where things get a little hairy for the Cowboys. It's really as simple as play your game. Don't create turnovers. You don't need to do anything special. You are a very talented team at home. This is a Cowboys team that has been fantastic at AT&T Stadium over the last couple of years. Play your game, stay on schedule. The second point that I want to make Ross is who's going to step up outside of Seeding Land because Seeding Land is going to get his. The Cowboys are going to make sure that he gets his touches. Last week we saw him get three carries. We saw him get him involved in the screen game. He's going to find a way to be impactful. It's who else can step up? They're going to make Ferguson not likely to play with an MCL sprained and a bone bruise, Ezekiel Elias, 85 years old. They don't really have many other options, but for the Cowboys to win this game, somebody else is going to need to take advantage of their matchups. On the defensive side of the ball, I want to see them make the Saints travel the entire life of the field. What I get concerned about is Derek Carr making plays down the field like he did in week one, hitting Rashid Jihid. If you remember the last time the Cowboys played the Saints, Derek Carr hit Zay Jones down the field, I think three times for 150 yards. That's where he's really good is taking chances down the field. If you limit the big plays, I think the Cowboys defense is going to be fine. Yeah. The Derek Carr days with the Raiders, if nothing else showed you very much that like Derek Carr's ability to throw down field is something that maybe people kind of underestimate about him, and this offense is looking to bring that out at him. You mentioned the idea of keeping New Orleans playing so that longer field. The other thing that helped New Orleans a lot against Carolina is how many short fields the defense created for their offense with the takeaways, three and outs, all those pieces. I think that's got to be a big thing that we're looking at in this one too, and it goes kind of both ways, right? Like you mentioned, not turning the ball over for Dallas, the Saints, same thing, of course every team that wants to win doesn't want to turn the ball over, but also you don't want to turn the ball over in something that's close to plus territory. You don't want to be in a situation where you're given them a 50 yard field or a 40 yard field or something like that, and a takeaway automatically turns into at least a field goal. You got to be really careful about those things, and so for New Orleans, their defense wants to get them those opportunities. They want to go and get that ball. They've been trained to be aggressive in getting that done Marcus Roberts in the Saints defensive backs coach, and Joe Woods, their defensive coordinator, have been instrumental in bringing up those takeaway numbers in the Saints hit their franchise low two years ago. Those guys showed up. They were outstanding there, and then they got another four takeaways or three takeaways this past week, depending upon how you look at the block punt that Joanna Johnson had. I mean, my goodness. You know what I mean? It's takeaway, but like I know people always argue about that, but I think those are going to be big things too, is that that sort of takeaway margin between these two teams. Well, and that's what I'm going to be curious to see is like, do the offenses turtle up and just lean on their defense to win the game, or do we see both offenses play with some tempo and be like, hey, let's turn this into a shootout type of game, because we think our defense can get enough stops to help us win. I think Dallas would like to turn this into a track meet just because they're at home and they've had a really good offense and Dak Prescott likes playing in those type of games. But I won't be surprised because it's an early season game of we see both head coaches, both offensive coordinators go a little bit more into a conservative mindset, at least early on in this one. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we make a lot of sense, right? Take the take with the defense is giving you build the confidence of each quarterback, all those things. I think that those are things you're absolutely going to be looking at. And you know, New Orleans, you know, they're going to kind of want to do the opposite side is the away team, right? They're going to want their defense and their run game to travel so they can slow everything down. And so these two teams are going to be diametrically opposed into what kind of game they're creating. It's almost like if this does turn into a track meet, it's, it's the Cowboys game. If it gets slowed down, it could be the Saints game in a big upset, like that could be a big time difference in terms of how tempo plays into the result of this one. It's a big game. We got Tom Brady on the call. Can't wait. Oh, that's right. That's right. Yes. Marcus is great. Ross is great. He's got over at lockdown Cowboys and locked on Saints part of locked on podcast network, your team every day. Let's take it to the AFC where the New York Jets coming off of a disappointing Monday night loss to the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Tennessee Titans who endured a pretty brutal collapse in week one against the Caleb Williams led bears. They will match up each looking for their first win of the season. John Butchko of locked on jets, Tyler Roland of locked on Titans have everything you need to know about when Aaron Rodgers and will Levis need to do to get the first one in 2024 under their belt. Welcome back in to the cross over Thursday. We've talked about what to look for with the Jets on offense and defense. Talked about what to look for with the Titans on offense and defense. Now we'll kind of make some predictions about what needs to happen for this game to be a win for either side. The first win of the season for either one of these teams who both sit at 0 and 1 before we get into it want to thank you again for making locked on Titans locked on jets you were first listen for your second listen check out locked on NFL you get all of your favorite team news here with us on lock on Titans and lock on jets now get all of your national NFL news with locked on NFL you get local experts like me and John given insights on your favorite teams and then you get opinions analysis you know I'm coming with opinions John does I mean you know they call me a madman for a reason but with that being said John is a gracious host I'll exercise some southern hospitality and let you go first. What do you think the Jets have to do to win this game against the Titans. Thank you Tyler. I think that number one they need to be more aggressive with the play calling and this has been look this has been an ongoing issue. I have been complaining about Nathaniel Hackett practically since the day he was hired and here's the thing so here's the thing Tyler a lot of people don't know that if locked on jets was around in 2001 through 2004 I would have complained non-stop about the Daniel Hackett's father Paul Hackett because he was the offensive coordinator of the Jets at that point. Oh God. And when complaints about him were that he was too conservative that he ran an outdated offense and 20 years later we've got the son who's you know doing the same things and like I hope I hope Nathaniel Hackett does not have a son who goes into coaching because I'm going to be complaining about Nathaniel Hackett's son in 2044 if this keeps happening. No more second and long runs try and open up the playbook try and throw a throw at the ball on first down. You have Aaron Rodgers dude like stop being so conservative on offense. No more I mean you can run it first and second down occasionally but why don't we try and throw the ball down the field on first down. Number two this is obvious the Jets need to stop the run better and you're like I like to be I like to think I'm a detailed guy when it comes to scheme and like sometimes things happen in game sometimes I feel a team fails for like nuance things that they're like you get really deep into the X's and those that was not the case Monday night. The Jets just got their butts kicked up front. I mean the Jets just got manhandled and there's no look there's there's always so much you can do look you can manufacture a pass rush I told you about some of the Jets pass rush you can blitz more especially when you have good corners you can't stop the run there's no schematic fact yeah you can drop the extra safety of the box Jets tried to do that they still got mauled it's just about guys going out there and you know winning at the you know winning at the point of attack it's that's the guys can't get pushed around the way they did and third is I think you know you mentioned the the issues Levis has had making mistakes for some big mistakes you know the Jets did not do a good enough job and look San Francisco's great offense right but look you got this defense you got the defense pose so it's supposed to be really good. When your offense was struggling Monday night you did not do a good enough job giving them a short field and look that's tough to do against San Francisco but against the quarterback like Lev and look I'm not I don't mean to disparage Levis you know like I've been through enough Jets young quarterbacks I mean I feel I feel like I feel like you know you've been talking about my life for the last 15 years talking about the ups and downs of the young quarterback but we know young quarterbacks but Levis is not alone he's not the only young quarterback who can make a mistake so the Jets need to take advantage of that and be opportunistic and maybe give their offensive short fields. Yeah you're 100% right and I mean just to be honest a lot of quarterback struggled in week one so will Levis wasn't alone in that sense either but that gives me no solace to go towards week two because he can't make those same mistakes again you don't get the second week of hey it's week one a lot of teams at some point you have to be the quarterback that doesn't make those mistakes while a bunch of other quarterbacks are making mistakes that's what's going to set you apart from the crowd if you're making the same mistakes that all these other midling quarterbacks are making then you're just the same as them and you're not going to bring your team any closer to a victory so the Titans they need to help Will Levis by play actioning more limit the massive mistakes and that's not just Will Levis that's on special teams as well they cannot lose this game on special teams and then ultimately they got to get pressure on Aaron Rodgers they have to make him uncomfortable make him move on that torn Achilles well fixed repaired torn Achilles either way but those are the three big things again the Titans only play action 13% not only are you going to protect Will Levis by play actioning like that but you're also going to create opportunities for explosive plays the Titans didn't have enough explosive plays down the field they didn't have enough and that's got to be a part of the offense early on so they got to play action more they got to create some more explosive chances on offense that's also going to protect Will Levis and he'll have an extra blocker in on those play actions kind of like what the Titans did last year early and let him get his feet under him let him get comfortable with it being early in the year again special teams the game really turned for the Titans last week when a punt got blocked not only that but the Bears had like a 60 yard kickoff return they had a 20 yard punt return if the Titans significantly lose the special teams battle they're probably going to lose again not only because of the potential for the team to score on special teams against the Titans but also the field position battle which I think this is going to be a low scoring game I don't think that both of these teams are going to come out and put up a lot of points it's going to be a little bit of a struggle and that increases the spotlight on special teams and then finally talk about shutting down Aaron Rodgers but you said he wants to get the ball out of his hands quick he doesn't want to take hits he's 40 years old okay I'm 33 I don't want to take hits he's 40 years old he does not want to take hits he doesn't want to have to run in second reaction all schedule play make like he used to in his healthier and younger days blitz him up the middle send pressure up the middle and force him to flee outside of the pocket and test that Achilles and see how well he can move that's what I would be looking for for the Titans to do and if they do that I think they're going to be able to move to one in one but it's going to be a tough tough task that game's really intriguing to me and for being honest because I think both those teams need some level of momentum and one of them has to win unless of course there's a tie and personally I'm not a big fan of ties but you can check out John over at lockdown jet check out Tyler over on locked on Titans we just talked about really intriguing one p.m. matchups but guess what we have a lot more of those to dive into right now is we're gonna now take it to the ravens in raiders game the ravens have a home opener and the raiders are looking to spoil that as both teams are looking for their first win of the year Baltimore losing to Kansas City on opening night and the raiders suffering a tough defeat in an AFC west showdown with the los angeles chargers me being the host of locked on ravens will take you through the biggest matchups key storylines predictions of the game with your boy q of locked on raiders and everything you need to keep an eye out on crossover thursday locked on ravens locked on raiders kevin austryker locked on ravens your boy q of locked on raiders still hanging out with you this episode crossover thursday locked on ravens and locked on raiders is brought to you by price this go to price mix dot com slash locked on the phone use code a lowercase locked on a battle when fifty dollars instantly when you play five dollars now q this game for the raiders yeah just a little more have a bad game on sunday that's all i'm not i'm not going that far i'm not i'm not going that far but i think the man this it's crazy because this is a game that the ravens actually kind of like really need because if they start oh and two right especially look the raiders they're not at seeing this expected to be this like top suitable contender or anything of that nature i think they're still a solid team but they're not in that like top of the top so if the ratings lose this game i think it's gonna be all panic and Baltimore if the raiders win to really feel really good about that if you're vegas but for las vegas in this one key one of three things do you think they have to do in order to secure with well i mean one they've got to be able to run the ball they have to be able to run the ball they were not able to run the ball effectively on sunday versus the chargers and it just it limited everything that they wanted to do right i mean they're 12 personnel that they want to play in uh they weren't able to do that very often i mean just that the matchups wasn't there uh they weren't able to utilize play action right and more times than not the chargers uh they're their defenders kalil mac and joey bosa were able to just pin their ears back and try to get to the quarterback this offense will not run correctly under luke getsy without the the run game you have to be able to run the ball and mare white has an opportunity to fill that void now that josh jacobs is gone and he started out really slowly to the point where they put alexander madison in to take that point and and he did a really good job so antonio pierce has told us whoever has the hot hand is gonna who's who's gonna have the ball like he's gonna ride that hot hand until you know he has to switch it up so uh first and foremost they have to 100 capitol all capitals have to be able to run the ball there's if they can't run the ball it's lights out it's just it's just not gonna work the raven's defense will be able like i said pin their ears back and look for gardener men's shoe and go after them and it's just that simple they'll be you'll be a one-dimensional team and they're not built like that too they've got to be able to put a uh like a offense some kind of fence around the marge accent right i mean there's got to be some kind of of again discipline dedication to not allowing those you know off-script plays that happen when those big breakdowns and defense all of a sudden you know everyone's running uh you know with the wide receivers and they turn their back to the quarterback and also in the quarterback's like well hey here's some grass let me go take it and then all of a sudden there's a huge play like they've got to be so disciplined when it comes to the way that they try to rush Lamar like you just can't do like normally like you'd be able to pin your ears back and you always want to have contained but sometimes if you if you don't really have that contained wall out there you feel okay about it this ain't one of those games this is not one of those games you cannot uh you know just not have those those contained walls up you really have to be disciplined in your pass rush you just you just you just have to and of course stopping the run goes with that as well i mean really the defensive line that line of scrimmage the raiders have to do everything they can their power to really own it and they did a good job against the charges for like i said three quarters of the game so that's a that's a big priority and i think honestly the Raiders have to create a couple turnovers you got to get a couple turnovers to get the the the the offense a shorter field this Raiders offense is not clicking on all cylinders they only score 10 points last week so they need as much help as they can get right they need to be able to make sure that maybe Gardner men's shoe and that offense gets the ball in plus territory or they get it you know closer to the 50 yard line as opposed to getting into 20 and having to drive the whole distance of the field create a couple turnovers hell maybe even the defense could score you know a touchdown or whatever get into the end zone or return the ball and set them up in in scoring range already just they've got to get some kind of juice and energy and and you know they're going on the road it's an early kickoff form 10 a.m. pacific time kickoff so they've got to be able to adjust but i think that would give them some extra juice if they're able to create a couple turnovers so those are the three things that i'm looking for you got to run the ball you've got to be very disciplined in the way that you rush Lamar Jackson and create a couple turnovers and now i'll give you a chance to get a victory in Baltimore not saying you're going to win but you're going to get a chance to get a victory in Baltimore if you could at least do those three things for the Ravens what do you think what are the three things that they need to do to get away with the victory and improve their record one-on-one yeah i think first of all i got a block you just have to block effectively and efficiently both in the run game and in the past game Derek Henry didn't have a great game on Thursday night part of that was because they just didn't run block effectively and he had a guy on top of him Derek Henry can do a lot of things tip arm guys out of the way move him outside i'm taking this ball to the end zone but he can't do it all the time he has to be able to have free rushing lanes get himself going and that will help plus for the more Jackson again you want to have him be able to feel comfortable in the pocket go through his reads and be able to deliver strikes especially with the offensive talent they have you have to be able to block to block effectively and efficiently for what Lamar Jackson wants to be able to do in this game especially if you get your run game going i think that's the second thing which is just establish that early we had seen the Ravens do it on Thursday night but then they went away from it and by the time they felt like they could do it again it was already too late and the game flow already changed so for them being able to dictate the game flow themselves on offense establish that physicality win the point of attack on the offensive line and make the Raiders defense guess make them try to cheat up and commit to something and then do the opposite thing and i think that is the it's the action that the Ravens have to span you have three or four different options out of a couple of specific heavy looks you can do and make really successful especially in this game in week two and then finally for the defense side of the ball just take away an aspect of the Raiders offense you know if you want to take away Zemir White now as Inter Madison do that and no Zemir White had a tough debut and Madison was kind of the guy who especially in the past game kind of got going for him you want to try to take away Devontae Adams and that passing in Gardner Minshew make him uncomfortable you can last time Gardner Minshew faced the Ravens Liverpool win the game in Indianapolis but how Hamilton had three first half sacks and they got him going early it was kind of that ugly mop it up game so i think for the Ravens if they can establish something early and just take something away from Las Vegas defensively for them that's a really really big part. Hugh i have the Ravens win in this one i have them going somewhere along the lines of uh i'll say 31 to 20 that's kind of what i have i think the Raiders are a good team. I know i know i just i think that this is like the bounce bat game like they they're pissed off against about that chief's loss to me i'm going 31 to 20 but i could see it go in a couple of different ways. I definitely don't believe the Ravens will score that many points i think the Raiders defense is better than that oh i actually believe that this defense could be really strong um i'm not i'm not 100 confident saying that i think that the Raiders are going to win um i know that they need this victory nobody wants to start out 0-2 just like the Ravens don't want to start out 0-2 but just for the sake of this show and and and i'm gonna i'm gonna go out on a limb i'm gonna i'm gonna say that i'm gonna go ahead and say that the Raiders are gonna win but i don't think i think it's gonna be a low score i think this is like 20 to 17 you know i mean like this is this is one of those games right uh let's put it like this i'm not even gonna say the Raiders are gonna win i'm gonna say the final score will be 2017 how about that 20 to 17 will be the final score um and and i hope that it comes out on the Raiders side of things i really do they only scored 10 points last week so i got um i'm a little gun shy to say that they're gonna make sure to score 20 just because that's that's doubling what they did a week ago but i i'm just gonna say that the final score will be 2017 i think it's gonna be low scoring because i think both defenses are gonna show up how about that a lot of great insight there i thought q was awesome and the the Ravens aspect of this is really intriguing too because oh and two starts not really great for a playoff chances and a Baltimore ends up losing that game and obviously Las Vegas factors in here too whichever team loses pretty big blow to any playoff hopes that that team might have but you can check me out over at lockdown Ravens you can check q out over at locked on Raiders part of locked on podcast network your team every day now the Jacksonville Jack watching Cleveland Browns will face off in a big AFC matchup Cleveland coming off at that disappointing loss to Dallas and Jacksonville they're gonna be trying to figure things out after a loss to the Miami Dolphins so both teams again looking for a win to kick off that column and we're gonna be talking with Jeff Lloyd of locked on Browns and Tony Wiggins have locked on Jaguars about what you need to know everything going into that game the prize picks crossover sponsored and brought to you by prize picks every Thursday i'm telling all of these crossovers around the locked on podcast network is brought to you by prize picks and presented by prize picks go to prize picks dot com slash locked on NFL and use the code all lowercase locked on NFL to win $50 instantly when you play $5 i jeff tell me the keys to the Browns win in his game this weekend well there are some things in favor of Cleveland this weekend coach defanski in his career with Cleveland is 22 and eight after a loss that's a pretty impressive record and pretty impressive way to basically you know get over whatever happened the week before other thing is offensively it really can't get worse you really have to think there's really nowhere to go but uh big key to this for Cleveland is going to be look gedric wheelstills and practicing why they even activated him to this point certainly has me curious because if you activated him and he still can't practice you're almost just basically wasting a roster spot no you're going to a practice squad guy you know for another game day so it doesn't necessarily make so much sense there does Jack Conklin make it back for this week practice yesterday limited that's all we know to this point a lot of people oh well Conklin's going to left tackle Jack Conklin was a left tackle at Michigan State so that's not that big of a deal plus i think with the knee injury it's probably easier for him to play the left side right now than it is to play the right side so if they can get Jack Conklin out there all of a sudden that opens up the possibility that they should be able to run the ball with a little more success it was kind of weird last week Jerome Ford played Pierre Strong played they invested in Dante Foreman he played one snap so it wasn't for me it wasn't sure what you know i was never a big fan of the foreman signing but the one actually he did happen the preseason he actually looked pretty good got me a little more positive than all of a sudden he got the real game action he didn't play you've got to be able to run the ball in the NFL and it doesn't have to be great but you've got to let the defense know that you are at least going to attempt to run the ball otherwise you get young press wrestlers Josh Allen you get a Trayvon Walker so guys just teeing off and if you can't run it with any success whatsoever once you're in second and nine second and eight we know the way this league works you know very very you're going to see a draw play if your quarterback's got a run unless you're Lamar Jackson he's normally running for his life not running because that what was called so they've got to do that it's going to be an interesting matchup because as you said the Jack was have bigger receivers now you know the Browns do have a good secondary MJ Emerson good guy physical guy Greg Newsom great in the slot just not an overall big thick guy but he had a great week last week there's a award the one thing he is not is big so this is you know a tougher match up for these guys so you really got to be anticipatory on your angles and you're where you're watching the receivers obviously the passing lanes you got to be really really smart with that the Browns just need to tighten things up you can't have two interceptions two interceptions of all games most likely in the cost of ballgame nine out of ten times we know the way this league works six acts six acts probably going to cost you ten out of ten times in the NFL it's just the way it works this team just has to overall get better and I think like I said getting out of Cleveland going on the road right now with the way the team performed certainly the all-field stuff that is now I can around this team this team needs to just go into Jacksonville handle their business I do believe the last two times they played Jacksonville they won late in the year last year a couple years ago and they went down to Jacksonville this team just needs to get focused and because the thing was this first stretch six games the hope was maybe four and two and because it's going to get really business or really going to pick up in the second half of the season for the Browns so they need to get back on the right track because if you get to the second half of the season looking like oh man we kind of either won the table or we only have one loss when you got to play all your conference games you got to play the Chiefs you got to play the Dolphins it's just not a realistic thing to focus on and believe will happen but if they can run the ball with some you know respectability play some better defense they should be good now the thing with Jacksonville I'm gonna keep you real simple they just can't be somebody's antibiotic if somebody sick let them stay sick don't don't don't be the elixir we ain't trying to you know he's a bad for nobody they just have a habit of doing that though and letting teams get right at their expense they can't turn the ball over in critical times and then so that means they have to have a short memory from last week you can't be letting that baggage stew but even though all of us were angry with the way that the game went they were going up 24/7 and it just forgot forgot to hold on to the football so here's here's the deal do everything you did last week but just finish it right don't let it linger have a short memory um they have a nice rotation along their defensive line they can't let Cleveland get well on the offensive line this week and even if they bring some people back it should still be in their mind that if they watch the tape against Dallas it was a total annihilation in my opinion on the line of scrimmage so Trayvon Walker Josh Allen can do some of the same things that Michael Parsons and Lawrence did last week if they can do that I think they'll be fine they need to continue to pressure Deshawn Watson do not just run past him and allow him to have past running lanes so he can get out and keep them in short down in different situations the Jaguars have to get Cleveland off the field on third down now watch this when we're when they're on offense they have to convert third downs they have to make sure that they keep their possessions don't turn the ball over don't get dumb penalties I think the Jaguars can win this game by 10 points if if they do all of those things they're a good football team but they have to win I think it's a must win because they now go on the road the next two weeks they go Buffalo and then they go to Houston and I'm not saying they can't beat those teams what I'm telling you is you don't want to go in there lame and limping because you're bleeding and hemorrhaging because you're owing to that is not what you want to do when you go play those teams you want to go in there with a lot of confidence and go in there with a little bit of a chip on your shoulder I think they're gonna get it done man both of those teams have playoff aspirations and a win would certainly go a long way not only for momentum but also just to get a win under their belt so check out Jeff over at lockdown Browns and Tony over on locked on Jaguars now let's talk a little bit about the Colts and the Packers the Colts with Anthony Richardson who put on a display a lot a lot of deep balls and showed that deep ball accuracy in his arm extremely strong arm in week one but the Green Bay Packers lost Jordan Love for a little bit in that Friday night game they'll be rolling with new acquisition the league will us at the position until Love is able to return let's talk with both Jake Arthur of locked on Colts and Peter McKowski have locked on Packers about what to expect and just a reminder across over Thursdays as always brought to you by our friends at prize picks prize picks go check it out right now America's number one daily fantasy platform Jake we're here on a crossover Thursday locked on Packers locked on Colts we don't get to do this very often which is you know kind of a bummer like I like watching the Colts I think this is a cool team when it comes down to it like I said I'm scared of Anthony Richardson very much so what is what is the key like the Colts the Colts will win if so offensively I think they did enough last week to win it it was just like there is very erratic but I will say offensively still I think the offensive line kind of needs to get it together it's very uncharacteristic for them to not be able to get much push over the last year and a half two years they've really reestablished themselves as one of the better O lines in the league so I've got to have faith that that is I mean it's the same guys so I've got to assume that they're still capable of at least run blocking very well which should unlock Jonathan Taylor a little more and make it so they're not so dependent on Anthony to have those kind of magical plays so they can establish the run a little bit which if week one for green bays any indicator it could happen I like that defensively you know they they've got to keep up the pass rush because they they did enough to keep CJ Stroud on the move and not quite comfortable last week so do that against Malik Willis but you know prove Chris Ballard right in the secondary I guess because I like that this injury with Juju Brent's it's not you someone I really liked coming out of college to it he's such a great fit for what they want to do well it's it's really unfortunate because everyone was screaming about them needing to add more help in the secondary all offseason and they stood pat and we're like no we like the young guys we've got and it's like but Juju is one of your like three most important DBs and the guy has not been 100% healthy at any point since you drafted in even in the offseason yeah always recovering from something and now you're kind of laying in the bed you've made he's out for the year so they're starting corners Jaylen Jones on the outside seventh rounder last year they lucked into him being capable of starting again you draft a guy in the seventh round you don't think he's going to be your starter right now on the other side we don't know it could be Dallas Flowers who was a healthy scratch last week or Samuel Womack who they got off waivers at the end of the preseason from the 49ers who we thought was a nickel but is actually going to be playing outside and then Kenny Moore and the nickel maybe you move Kenny to the outside for more reliability there but it's like look at what is happening can you do that Kenny Moore is one of the best slot defenders in the league like I feel like you're you're making two places worse if you do that yeah it's it's I don't know and then behind them if Julian Black and Jane Reed like Jane Reed was awesome last year you got to have Kenny Moore like at least yeah some shot against Jane Reed it's it's just crazy how everyone's like you better be careful with this and then here we are it's not even the second game is here yet and something big has gone wrong so you know make Chris Ballard look good here with this because right now the vibes are not great in the secondary okay how about this for the Packers in terms of in terms of keys don't lose the game on offense I feel like that's it just don't lose the game on offense because if Malik Willis is trying to do too much and throwing a lot of interceptions and by the way you know when he was starting it wasn't like he was reckless with the ball he's just and he was an inaccurate thrower and he was an inaccurate thrower in college a high variance thrower because he has the horsepower a lot like Anthony Richardson who is also a little bit of an inconsistent thrower because they have the horsepower to make every throw just don't throw it to the wrong color jersey is is the mandate here because I do think that the running game is going to be able to get some traction I think Matt LaFloor can scheme up enough looks here to give them an opportunity at some big plays play action that was something that I think you're going to see a lot of play action deep overs you know big big posts um those kinds of things I bet they'll run leak um maybe once a half um they're gonna have specials and they're gonna like because this is a this is a crucial game for the Packers without Jordan Love like if you're the Colts yes you want to be a playoff team but but really you mentioned it it's more about the the Anthony Richardson of it all does Anthony Richardson looks like your guy and do you compete for a playoff spot the Packers are trying to go win a Super Bowl Jake they can't go own one and so I there's this great stat um teams that lose in week one and are underdogs in week two cover the spread 57 percent of the time since 2003 because they're desperate teams now both of these teams are on one but one team is an underdog and one team isn't and so I I feel like from a Packers perspective I let I like them covering the three and a half I'm going to pick them to win this game just because I do think there is an urgency gap here I think the Packers feel that this game is going to be more important for them not LaFluor is going to bring out the tricks there's going to be the specials there's I think they're going to have a little bit more intensity on defense after the awful footing in Brazil I think the defense is going to play better it'll be a close game I mean I think this is sort of like one of those 24 20 kind of games 24 21 I think that's right in that range it will be uh it will be a game that it's going to have both fan bases pulling their hair out I have no doubt about that I said that the same thing in the Eagles game I think that's true in this one so that's where I've landed here yeah I I don't think it's going to be anything crazy now I do think the ingredients are there for some reason this gives me the vibes of Colts Browns last year total barn burner between PJ Walker and Gardner Minch yeah like like 70 points scored almost like that would be fun this game has no business being that but it could be we don't know yeah but I'll go on the reasonable side I do have the Colts winning I think 30 to 24 okay some of the things they did not capitalize on or established last week are things we have seen them prove they are actually good at you know running the ball and blocking up front we know they're capable of doing that they they have the quarterback they're running back in the line to do it we we didn't see much involvement from Michael Pittman Jr we know there's room to go there and the linebackers played so uncharacteristically poor last week too we know they're capable of more still terrified of the secondary for what it's worth is which is why I'll give them a leak will us 24 points um but yeah I I also think they're better at stopping the run than they showed last year like every everyone was healthy and totally different story right now but some of their better guys against the run should still be out there um I think it'll go that way the Colts tend to prove me wrong at times but I picked against them last week I actually picked them within one point I said they were gonna lose 30 to 27 and they lost 29 to 27 but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt of this one I think they're gonna right some of their wrongs from last week and I'm gonna say 30 to 24. Minnesota where the San Francisco 49ers will be traveling San Francisco coming off of a big win in week one against the Jets on Monday night football and the Vikings beaten down on the New York Giants so both teams one and oh looking to improve their unbeaten record and we'll be talking now with Brian peacock and Eric Crocker of lockdown 49ers get prawn of locked on Vikings as they have everything you need to know about this big matchup Brian Crocker what's gonna happen what is this game going to come down to let's let's put it that way I think the tough thing is you know you see Minnesota and obviously it's a team that had you know a down year you you dealt with some injuries last year they were able to beat the 49ers and I remember going into that game 49ers were rolling at the time and they had a couple losses there to the Cleveland Browns you have you know losses since the daddy then you play the Vikings it's like oh this is the game you get back on track and like nope you're actually gonna lose this game too so I don't think the 49ers can go into this game and puff their chest out you're traveling across country you're going to a different time zone you're playing in someone else's house a house that has a really good home-filled environment uh you know for me I'm looking to see how the 49ers come out on the first drive because if you watch the 49ers really even the first like couple drives in the last game three and out on the first drive against the Jets all right okay let's get in the groove and then the next drive uh Fred Warner punched the ball out forces a fumble then what the 49ers do they go three and out again and have to kick a field goal I don't think that they can have that same kind of slow start this week on the road because unlike being in the Bay Area in Santa Clara you know you got the fans behind you you got the crowd behind you so even during that time where it's a little low the energy is still high you don't want the energy to flip to the Minnesota Vikings and one thing my coach used to tell us about is false confidence you don't want to give a team that is the underdog which home home dogs in this game from Minnesota you're the underdog you get proud of them a little bit they start getting that confidence like wait a minute they believe like us and then that's when you get in trouble so the 49ers I think for them one of the keys is they have to start fast here's a there's a streak I'm sure the 49ers are aware of this but do you guys know the last time the 49ers won a football game in Minnesota 1987 you're close 92 I was born I went as far back as I could yeah 92 yeah I think 87 that was that was the Anthony Carter year the the crazy the strike year with the crazy Anthony Carter upset and then the 49ers dunked on the Vikings the next few years in the playoffs like out of spite but 1992 seven straight games in Minnesota 49ers Vikings games that and the Vikings have won all of them regardless of how good those teams are one of those weird like history streaks um you know and hey different story when the Vikings travel to San Francisco but I have to imagine that there's an awareness there and that kind of like we got to end this kind of deal um I think it'll come down to what it came down to last time which is who is more physical and there's a reason that everybody expected that to be the 49ers last time and the Vikings kind of pulled it off and maybe there is a confidence of like hey you know these guys these guys aren't so scary we got we did them last year it's it's the same group up front for the Vikings save uh save the left guard it's Blake Brandall now instead of Ezra Cleveland and he by the way had a pretty good game on uh hitting his debut so that feels like a group that is gonna walk in with some confidence and if that confidence can survive through like the first quarter if they can you know go through and like have a nice solid start without immediately giving up a ridiculous sack to Nick Bosa or whatever um then you can get into the rhythm of the game and we can kind of have a have a game here but with the thing about the Vikings is they haven't really uh they turned the ball over twice so they haven't really gotten turnovers out of everybody's head here in Minnesota so I have to say you got to not turn the ball over that's what killed them last year so many times and it would have killed them again this time if the Giants weren't a pile of rubble right now that's still the question I have with Sam Donald too because I think he's a much better player and clearly he's much better coach the last couple years than he was to start his NFL career but how clearly does he see the field at all times the first throw he actually made as a 49er he threw it directly into the chest of the other team uh and I'll say I'm normal there he is but then you know then he looked a lot better uh his actually go back because everyone talks about oh he was really good at the end of his Carolina career the last year go back and watch the end of his last game in Carolina one of the worst turnovers you'll ever see yeah and so does does better it better it like the two turnovers were not his fault one was a fumble after the catch by the fullback C.J. Hamm and the other one was uh he was trying to hit Justin Jefferson on a double move for like a one-on-one ball and Dexter Lawrence just smoked the center and hit him as he threw it it kind of flipped up super not his fault either um so yeah he was very safe with it and turned down some like there were some throws on that tape where you're like ah maybe it couldn't hit that and he turned down all of those so he's playing a very conservative brand of football for him but but they found a way to kind of get that mentality in him but still push the ball downfield sometimes yeah and that's smart and I do like what the the Vikings have on offense and obviously the best wide receiver maybe second best wide receiver in the NFL depending on how you feel about Tyree kill um and so you know a lot of talent there and I and I think that's going to be where this game is is won and lost can the 49ers get that weird sand darn old turnover can they you know force the the Vikings into those third and long situations and the 49ers were really they they didn't actually even pressure uh Aaron Rogers all that much I think he got hit once or twice in the game Leonard Floyd got a sack but the 49ers were really good against the run Bryce uh Hall had uh or Breece Hall had a one 16 yard run and then it was like two yards per carry otherwise you know that's gonna be tough and Aaron Jones is the one guy I haven't brought up yet who is seems to have unlocked a little bit more of a run game here um he almost got 100 yards in the Giants game uh and on like 19 characters like he had like six and six or seven yards per carry it was it was a great run game so again like a big test because I mean like that Giants D line is a good D line that's Dexter Lawrence the Bido Brian Burns like that's like there's some good players and a run on that is an accomplishment um but like you said like the the 49ers run defense and winning in the trenches is how they have existed since Kyle Shanahan got there like that is that has been the bread and butter um I have one more question for you I I don't know about predictions I don't think I can pick the Vikings for this one I think that's too much of a homer thing um so if you want to predict then go ahead but uh one question I didn't get to ask who's the best player on the 49ers defense so we've had a lot I see why he asked that okay because you've got Fred Warner and Nick Bosa yeah yeah well like Nick Bosa feels like the chalk answer but does anybody have the hot take that it's Fred Warner Fred Warner is the heart and soul of the defense yeah like he's the heart and soul and he's the guy that I think because of how he plays anytime you watch the 49ers you will 1000 percent notice 54 he's flying around he's jumping over people he's celebrating the dress flying everywhere like you there's no way you could watch a 49ers defense and not notice 54 but Nick Bosa he's damn good of course I mean this is a guy that won defense the player the year uh had a slow start the last year after holding out I think he does a lot of the dirty work and he's just a quiet person and I think he kind of flies under the radar so when he's generating a lot of pressure taking on doubles splitting nose you just kind of don't notice it I don't know if it's something about his demeanor he off the field he's really kind of quiet and reserves kind of stays to himself but I want to say stays to himself I mean just like you know him and his brother they go to like this Bosa chamber and work out like in Florida you know like it's just he's just kind of his like a way so I don't know like with the 49ers defense who's the best player I do think it's the easiest thing to say oh Nick Bosa but Fred Warner is the leader of the defense that's without a doubt no doubt and like if I was drafting 49ers I would take Nick Bosa probably over every player on the team but a lot of that is position of value too sure Fred Warner is unbelievable and he's so important and so impactful in so many ways and what they're able to do and coverage with their linebacker and so many teams nowadays take advantage over the middle of the field it's hard to do that against the 49ers because of Fred Warner's out there but we're being disrespectful to Diamadore Lenore who is the secret superstar on the San Francisco yes keep your eye on number two out there Vikings fans I've been watching his contract waiting for it to expire so that I can pine for him in free agency. Did you guys see what he said about really earning a spot on the 49ers and who it was that not only gave him the confidence but who it was that he where he challenged himself against this player to get in a good graces with the 49ers and Kyle Shanahan was none other than Justin Jefferson when they had the joint practices he said I'm gonna I'm I feel like I'm on that cutting block I can't make the team I might get cut I need to challenge myself in a different way while we're out here in these joint practices I'm gonna follow 18 around so whether he won a rep or lost a rep he competed his tail off and I think that earned him the respect of a lot of people that make big decisions for the 49ers. That's so sick okay so score predictions I think are lame but what do you think will be the headline coming out of this game like what will be the cold open on lockdown 49ers after this game that is the main point that that we all come out with it. Oh man Sam Darnold through six interceptions in a Cisco 49ers the Minnesota Vikings 47 to 3 we hope yeah I'm gonna I feel like I'm gonna be saying one turnover too many but I don't know if it's gonna be on Darnold or not it just feels like this team still has that bozo in it. Look the the Vikings are already in a place where I think it's house money a lot like I'm sure Vikings fans have bigger kind of issues than maybe people on the outside looking in it's it's frustrating that you don't get to develop your young quarterback but yeah like what happens next year is already kind of set in stone so yeah it does feel like we're just sort of like waiting for him to come back yeah and he goes down with an injury yeah oh cool because now you're going to get the number one overall pick and you get the pair another very talented player with them like that's what we're hearing and then you win a game and I was like wait a minute how many more of these people win and there you know sports is about trying to win maybe you realize there's no and few you have enough good players and there's a floor when you're a well coached team and the organization's put together in a way where you're not going to collapse like that you're going to be in it and then you get some good quarterback play from a veteran quarterback and and you realize all right cool and if you get your future long-term quarterback in on top of it and you keep adding players you're you're going to still remain a really good team and a really good program so all those things are are so important I think it might be a rough one the 49ers are favored for a reason you know maybe if you're picking against the spread it makes things a little more I think it's six Niners are favored by six in a row six on the road you know it's a good home dog bet for the Vikings to be competitive and keep it within a touchdown that that's not a terrible bet I do like the 49ers in this one though be sure to check out Brian and Eric over it locked on 49ers and Luke over it locked on Vikings part of locked on podcast network your team every day for that NFC bout but we're not going to take a look at a previous Super Bowl match up the Seattle Seahawks New England Patriots obviously both teams in a bit of a different situation than they were about a decade ago both teams having new first time head coaches at the helm but we're going to be talking through that with Corbin Smith of locked on Seahawks Mike debate of locked on Patriots working these two teams take advantage of their opponents weaknesses let's talk about that now Patriots fans and Seahawks fans thank you for joining us here today on this crossover Thursday episode getting you ready for Sunday's week two match up the New England Patriots hosting the Seattle Seahawks and bringing you right up to kick off is yours truly Mike debate about ended if the Seahawks are to come into New England and defeat the Patriots right now their favorite what are Seattle's three keys to victory for a win on Sunday well the first one is pretty simple Mike they've got to be able to pass protect and I'm not asking this offensive line to play like the 2005 group that had Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson up front they don't have that kind of talent but at the same time Connor Williams is a huge upgraded center Lincoln Tomlinson's an established veteran you love your left tackle Charles Cross who actually was the one real bright spot from this offensive line last week played really well gets it done for Broncos who's going to be starting at right tackle is it going to be George Fant is it going to be stone foresight is it going to be rookie Mike Jarrell we don't know who's going to be starting over there so there's all kinds of questions with this offensive line that's trying to build some continuity a lot of new pieces but they have got to be able to keep Keon White and company away from Geno Smith enough that Geno Smith can make plays downfield you don't have to give him five seconds in the pocket to do that Geno Smith can make he can make million dollars out of a couple of pennies if you just give him a little bit of time to throw the football but last week early in the game they weren't giving him that opportunity and as one of the reasons the offense floundered for two quarters once they were able to get their run game going a little bit in the past protection got better as the game progressed in the second half Geno completed almost 80% of his passes in the second half if you allow Geno Smith to have enough time that he can operate the offense and he can get the ball to his playmakers maybe get a few more shots downfield with the talent they've got in that receiving course good as the secondary is for New England if you are able to block things up well enough that Geno Smith can get the ball downfield that is going to be a difficult task for even the Patriots secondary especially with some of the safety injury concerns that you mentioned earlier it provides an opportunity that the Seahawks can get the job done offensively I think they're going to have to be better throwing the football than they were last week to get a win on the road for that to happen the past protection is key number one two and three for this football team hmm absolutely agreed and I think that is something that Seattle will definitely look to exploit for on against New England on Sunday look if you're looking at it from a Patriots perspective once again the Patriots need to establish the run and this is something again that we've talked about earlier on in this segment and I've talked about ad nauseam on lockdown Patriots all week long all of the way that Alex van Pelt wants to run this offense comes through the running game and it comes through Andre Stevenson and he once again has to establish himself as someone that can be a key on the ground and get yardage and be able to facilitate what this Patriots team wants to do now one thing that they have to do with establishing the run is utilize play action take deep shots down the field make sure that this passing game gets involved to do that they're going to need solid blocking from the offensive line they got it from the right side last week Corbin they didn't get it from the left Chupsacora 4 definitely looked like a fish out of water at left tackle he struggled he was pulled after only 10 snaps veteran medarian low came in and then played a little bit better they looked like they were a little more comfortable but the Patriots left side is still a big problem and right now city so their starting left guard was also not at practice on Wednesday it's going to look like he may end up missing this week as well unless something drastically changes so now you're looking at a lot an offensive line of valerian low at left tackle michael jordan at left guard david andrews at center laden robinson playing right guard and michael wen who playing the right tackle position again the right side is going to be good but you no seattle was going to zero in and try to force remandre to run to the left and they're also going to try to exploit that left side and get after the passer in jacobie reset so if they can't do that they won't be able to establish what is my second key to victory and that's control a line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball patriots did a great job of doing that on both offense and on defense against seanadi going to be much tougher to do that against seattle and then the last certainly not least same as last week patriots are going to have to win the turnover battle and they're going to have to take advantage of miscues on the opposite side of the ball seattle is not a team that's prone to turn the ball over but the patriots need to at least force one or capitalize on a miscue get good field position put seattle on its heels and then they've got that puncher's chance to come away with the victory and i'm glad that we're talking the run game because i think from seattle's perspective if there's one thing that travels well consistently if you can run the football running the ball is something that can help your chances of winning when you go into a hostile road environment like jalette stadium and we don't know where can walk in thirds health is that now he told reporters after sunday's game that he was fine so if i had to make a prediction right now i expect that canine is going to be out there and he is going to be starting and he's going to get plenty of carries get to get his opportunities in the passing game but seattle's got to have that balance they have got to be able not they need to go out and run for 150 yards in this game but they need to be effective running the ball because that was one of the ways they were able to take some of that pressure the broncos were putting on jino smith off the quarterback in the second half and give him a little bit more of an opportunity to pull the ball downfield and get the ball to his receivers and the last key for me on the defensive side of the football you got to win early downs and this plays into new england's ability to be able to throw the football because i think if the sea hawks can come out and they can shut down remandry stevenson on first and second down on those early down runs and consistently put new england in third and sixth third and seven or longer if they can do that if i'm the sea hawks with boy mafei and the past rushers that they've got even without a turn into osu who's not going to play this week they've still got weapons they can get after the quarterback if i'm consistently putting new england in third and medium and third and long situations i'm excited about my ability to be able to get after jacobie bersett and force him into making some bad decisions with that secondary is opportunistic is devan witherspoon reek will and julie loving those guys are if you are able to speed up that clock and you consistently have the patriots in those third and medium third and long situations that's what plays into your turnovers and plays into your quick changes and gets the ball back into the office's hands so i'm not even looking at the third down percentage i'm looking at first and second down can you consistently keep mamondry remandry stevenson bottled up that patriots run game bottled up because if you can do that and limit the yardage in early downs it plays into seattle strengths against a new england team that i don't necessarily know has the pieces to be able to consistently convert third and long opportunities with their passing game yeah without passing game it's going to be very difficult and again you're dealing with an untested passing game and you're dealing with a lot of young receivers that right now ran a lot of short routes last week if those routes are elongated the way the patriots owe it's right now a guessing game as to how that's going to go especially with a makeshift offensive line providing protection and jacobie bersett having to rid himself of the ball probably quicker than he'd like those two don't often go together on a football field going to be very interesting to see seattle's um range and seattle's uh ability to get after and their game plan and it's also going to be very interesting to see how the patriots plan on countering that on their home turf and their home opener sunday one p.m. jollette stadium foxborough mr. chucits the seattle seahawks visit the new england patriots in week two of the 2024 NFL season Corbin is great and so is mike you can check them out lower case locked on nfl to win fifty dollars instantly when you play five dollars the panthers hosting the chargers at one p.m. eastern time 10 a.m early in the morning there on the west coast and looking over at our friends at fandall which we just told you about six and a half point favorites of chargers are coming on the road is that a surprising line to you at all david after what we've seen so far no not really i mean no disrespect to the panthers but that was a pretty pretty underwhelming performance to to start the season for them and i think uh you know there's really i think a lack of identity uh for that football team i don't know who i don't think they know who they are what they want to do out there quite yet and i think they're still trying to figure out who they are and i think with jim harbaugh he brings an identity it's it's ready made it's physical it's physicality it's i'm gonna drag you into the deep water i'm gonna beat you up i'm gonna pound the rock we're gonna play physical football for 60 minutes and you know we're gonna see who's you know standing at the end of the game so i just think that you know with given that information i feel like the this is a a pretty you know understandable line here yeah and identities a big thing the panthers for years now have not known what their identity at all is they didn't know it under mat rule they didn't know it last year under frank right they did know it for a period of time when steve wilks is the interim head coach but david tephyr was not interested in steve wilks being the interim head coach or the head coach period no identity yeah that's the thing that a lot of fan i saw it brought up on social media on sunday the panthers had an identity they had an attitude they brought physicality and tephyr said no i need to have an offensive coach because apparently that's the only way to have success in the nfo which is uh patently false but i digress um looking at things on sunday what are three things the chargers have to do to beat the panthers other than of course just show up based off how the pantries played last week oh god so three things that the chargers need to do first find rhythm in the passion game uh second is don't overlook the panthers and the third is continue being a fourth quarter team so finding rhythm in the passing came just in herbert in not a crazy game by his standards 17 to 2644 yards and a touchdown took quite a while to get the passing game going and really i'd say midway towards the third quarter that's when they started to kind of click a little bit um offensive line has to do a better job of handling the stunts and the and the blitzes i think the tacos played well but the interior the defensive or excuse me interior the offensive line uh definitely struggled a little bit throughout that football game don't overlook the panthers uh yeah just because they you know they had a bad first game it does not mean that they're not going to come in here motivated um they're guaranteed they want to wash the stink of that game off of them and they want to come in here and try to win a football game and you know this feels like a trap game for the chargers but they can't have that mentality you can't overlook any opponent in the national football league no matter who it is you got to show up ready to play and be prepared and then continue being a fourth quarter team for the chargers it's all been this whole off season about the fourth quarter finishing periods it's after practice is done Jim Harbaugh is uh and you know Ben Herbert the strength and condition coach extra work after practice getting that extra work in trying to be as and top physical condition as they possibly can so when it gets to the end of the game and they need to be at their best they have the stamina and then an endurance to be able to do that um so that's you know what the chargers have to do if they want to win this football game on sunday man i just hearing about a trap game in the NFL in week two like that those are like that's some college stuff man it's like we're talking about the Texas Longhorns walking into Manhattan can this like 11 a.m. central time for a game like on fox like that's that's that's what the Panthers are as far as like their respectability or lack thereof so far in the NFL and until they able to establish an identity that's kind of going to be how people feel outside of this market and I think even within the market there's people who feel that way as well so honestly I disagree with you on any of the keys you put out there for the charges as far as Panthers concern they got to take pressure off a bright shot we talked about it earlier makes no sense to me how a coach and dave can i was going to sit here all off season long and talk about how he wants to be stubborn about running into football why they kept mild standards when it would have made sense potentially get rid of them maybe not cap wise but as far as production wise they got at them last year look like a guy that you could have easily parted ways with of course the cap wasn't existent to be Harvard respected to play a big role they draft jonathan brookes he's currently on a non-fable injury list can be out for the next at least three weeks i'm just shocked that they did not come out there and try to run the ball on the Saints in that they asked Bryce to care of them he throws a pick immediately and in his confidence is gone and by the time you wake up if they ever woke up you're down 17 nothing you're getting embarrassed like they got to take pressure off a price they have to run the ball especially between the tackles they brought in robert hunt at right guard dame and louis at left guard and shifted us in orbit there at center for a reason because they want to run the ball and they need to do that with you bahubber and mild sanders i'm someone who thinks that you got to run running backs into the ground and then move on and get another one you use them you abuse them and then you lose them this is the last year for hover this should be the last year for mild sanders run those guys man i don't see what they're waiting for their tape pressure off of bright shung in that manner then on the defensive side of the ball their browns gone you can't sit here and cry about it it sucks you're losing your leader your best player but guys got to show some pride on that line of scrimmage they got to be able to stop the run the charges ran the ball were extremely well there in a second half of that Raiders game jk dobbins good player guss edwards good player as well but it ain't like you're facing up against album camara for the second week in a row this is not christian McCaffrey who got the panthers man they had christian McCaffrey once upon a time this is not one of the top backs not one time maybe maybe an underrated backfield that they have there in LA but you got to be able to show some toughness be able to stop to run and be able to control the line of scrimmage you want to have any chance of winning this game at all on sunday and i kind of said that they're show some pride there's a lot of guys who were here last year when they went to in 15 there's a lot of guys that were here the year prior when they turned things around after a one in five start and were right there week 16 with opportunity beat Tampa Bay and potentially go to the playoffs by winning division a lot of guys are here when they were when one five games back back seasons there's a lot of news have just not one games in carolina and at some point in time you gotta just say you're sick of it and actually do something about it and show some pride last week what i saw was one of the most was absolutely the most embarrassing performance in week one of french in this franchise's history i just don't understand guys like jack Thompson getting tackled late and celebrating you're getting your ass kicked man and you're supposed to be a captain on this team one of the leaders you gotta gotta have a situational awareness but also show some dang pride man that's what i want to see from the panthers team on sunday if they're gonna have any chance at winning this game at all i don't necessarily have a pick do you have a pick at all david or or are you all set on where the charges potentially need to do on sunday yeah i mean as far as a pick i mean i i don't know i'm gonna put i'm not gonna put a score out there but i do feel like the the charges are probably gonna win this football game i just feel like like what they're bringing to the table here offensively and defensively defensively especially i think they're a very scary football team a lot scarier than a lot of people gave them credit for going into this season because they have some connectivity from the the back end with darwin james and alohi goman to the front end with kaleel mac and joey boza and even in the middle with denzel peremin dayon hanley they have some players at every level of this defense and un offensively like they're gonna run the rock they are they are going to bleed the clock in this football game they're gonna try to stay ahead of the sticks probably gonna pop play action when they can but uh i'm not gonna put a score out there but i do feel like the chargers are gonna win this one yeah and i think every things leaning towards a charger is just based off of one week but it is just one week week to leak week to week league here in the NFL and it's certainly not around possibility panthers decide to figure things out come out absolutely much better game on sunday which is part of reason why he said don't overlook this panthers team after what happened last week don't really have a pick on the game but i do think it uh i'm expecting that it'll be a little bit close to it was last week you should have checked out david over locked on chargers and julian over at locked on panthers part of locked on podcast network your team every day let's take it to the nfc east where the new york giants will be taken on the washington commander should be a really intriguing game obviously jadon daniel's the second ever nfl starts the giants a rough week one for them they are looking to bounce back so we'll talk with david harrison of locked on commanders and patisha strainer of locked on giant should be a fun one let's see what they have to say this week's cross over thursday episode of locked on giants and locked on commanders brought to you by applies picks and we've got three most important things that patisha the giants don't need to do the giants should not not that they should do it they must do these three things to beat the mighty washington commanders what are they number one get the ball to malleak neighbors i mean last week the giants target him i want to say what five times and just that's not enough you've got this dynamic receiver the sky who can get behind defenses sky who can separate and you got to get the ball in his hands it's that simple you know i i'm not saying throw every single pass to him but certainly get him some more targets than just you know the five or so that he had in week one it just it's like you know almost like he was invisible i don't want to say invisible but you know it just he didn't make the impact i think a lot of people were hoping that he could make in that game so feed leak uh as he likes to be called so that's number one number two get after jane daniels as good as jane daniels might look he's still a rookie he's still going to make rookie mistakes he's still going to be vulnerable to pass uh you know pass pressure he's going to be vulnerable probably to disguise defenses so do what you've got to do to get pressure on this guy and hope that he turns the ball over makes a mistake tries to fit something into where it doesn't belong just you know turnovers the giants have a pretty good one loss record when they can force at least two turnovers in a game i think there's something like five in one though you know over since going back to 2022 so get the turnovers force the quarterback to make mistakes and then finally i'm going to come back to daniel jones you know daniel jones has got to play better than he did last week you know not force stuff into to tight windows you know be smart about the ball the turnovers have got to stop now i anticipate daniel jones is probably going to rely on his legs a lot in an effort to move the ball um that's really the strength of his game right now but they've got to open things up he can't be reluctant to take some deep shots down the field i know last week the Vikings did some stuff that took away some of those deep passes but not every play there were opportunities to get the ball down the field when they're there recognize them take them and hit them yeah like the team of eight blockineers uh they really exposed the secondary because i think pretty much everybody already knew this secondary wasn't necessarily a strong two catches so they hear you on the feed your number one receiver again doesn't matter if your number one guy is a quote-unquote number one receiver in the NFL if he's your number one you should be feeding him and getting pressure on any rookie quarterback is always going to be good uh for any opposing defense but of course the trick on both sides of this matchup right is going to be keeping that pocket uh disciplined while you're trying to pressure that quarterback because you let him leak out and that's how you give up 88 yards rushing and then of course daniel jones uh his relationship to this this rivalry is well well documented uh Patricia for the commanders the three things that they got to do must do tackle and finish which obviously includes tackling protect jane daniels and make your stinking field goalkicks uh so tackling the the watching commander's actually got a lot of pressure on bigger mayfield if i remember correctly it was eight pressures nine pressures on bigger mayfield against stamp bay blockineers and i cannot tell you how many times i watch bigger mayfield ping pong in the pocket move left move right move back move up and then escape and get yards uh either with his feet or extend the play and find a receiver downfield because again no second dare i don't care how good your secondary is they're not going to be able to cover for five to seven seconds bad ones especially cannot cover for five to seven seconds so they've got to absolutely finish those pressures turn them into sacks turn them into cubie it's turn them into strip sacks whatever you had to do but also just tackling there were some tackling issues on the field and again you talk about guys like like daniel jones and how much they're going to get out of there and you're 100 right watching the tape of the vikings giants game a lot of the times daniel jones did damage with his feet it's because minnesota vikings in an effort to get pressure lost pocket contain they lost their own pocket contain and you can't do that against quarterbacks that are looking to take advantage of you like jane daniels right now in week one we saw good protection of jane daniels in the sense that jayden was getting down and getting out of bounds didn't take a lot of hits i noticed helmet came off a couple of times and that's all everybody's talking about before the most part his weird little combat role that he's got going on instead of sliding was being pretty effective and he was protecting himself eventually as long as he continues to do that we'll get to a point where we don't bring that up on a regular basis but it's only week two we've only seen it one week so we got to see more of jane daniels making these smart decisions as he's running before we're able to move on from that topic and then field goal kickers patricia wins the last time you saw a super ball winning team go through five kickers in one season i'm never yeah um one's last time saw a team go through five kickers through week one of the nfl season um shtick command and the giants came close last year they went through what four kickers five kickers or something like that but they're they were hardly a super ball contender right but yeah i mean go watch the command and establish kickers important absolutely the washington is our own one and they are on their fifth kicker austin cybert coming in for week two fifth times the charm as they say uh so we'll see how he can do but look there were multiple times patricia where the watch commanders actually were within a score or could have gotten it down to one score uh in that tampa bay game if their field goals are made but cade york misses two field goals kicks a kick off out of bounds all darn near misses an extra point that's why he's out and austin cybert is here so yeah they got a tackle they got to protect jane including jane protecting himself and they got to make it she got to convert a point we got a rookie quarterback you got to convert points when the points are there to be converted yeah i mean look you can't squander away scoring opportunities no matter what they might be because you don't get so many opportunities to do that and if you're squandering them away that mispoint that miss field goal and miss touchdown they add up that they can be the difference in the game yeah i mean look you know the washington commander is lost by 17 points in the end right so whatever but uh six point difference throughout the course of it through all you need to know with our local experts who will dive into key matchups predictions storylines things that each team needs to do to win the game we have a lot to get to the 425 window is incredible this week particularly because of one matchup and that is the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals Cincinnati traveling to Kansas City after probably the worst loss of week one out of any team they lose it in the England Patriots in disappointing fashion while Kansas City picked up a big win over the vultima ravens in week one joe burrow hoping to bounce back passion at home hoping to keep his momentum which team will come out on top we have a full slate crossover here full house between jake lisco james are peen of locked on bangles plus you have chris clark and ryan tracy of locked on she is getting you ready for the game on sunday i'm really interested to see what these keys are jake let's get it right away for the bangles what are the three keys here so i'll go with a couple james you can throw in as well first i'm looking at whether trei henderson in this defensive line can take advantage of those tackles of the kansas city chiefs and like the chiefs had issues getting lamar jackson to the ground last week the bangles had issues getting jacobie bersett to the ground talked about it earlier doesn't get easier with patrick mohomes and that interior competition is world's different tears different from the top of the NFL to the bottom of the NFL comparing the chiefs of the patriots so the task gets harder but if they're getting pressure and can abuse those tackles can they get mohomes to the ground that's one for me two is chris you talked about the ability to get doubles to jamaar chase with the absence of t higgins and one thing that we saw very successful for the bangles in week one is when they went to twelve personnel featuring rookie eric old jr and veteran drew sample a couple of titans more willing and more able to block than the mike gaseki and tanner hudson duo two of the other titans that were active for the bangles in week one i'm interested to see if they get to that twelve personnel package a little bit more than we're used to for an 11 dominant team in the sincinati bangles and if they're able to use that to their advantage both in the run game and to generate some looks for explosives in the passing game james what was your add to that well yeah explosives huge i mean that would probably be number one if i had to rank them but the the other thing if it's bringing patrick mohomes down it's also making sure that you tackle rishi rice and isiah pacheco probably not in that order pacheco and rice i mean they struggled tackling last week such a huge issue and if you're in these one-on-one situations i get it the chiefs love it if it's isiah pacheco versus a cornerback but the bangles have to win those they just do especially because the patriots interior of their offensive line much much different than what they're going to be facing on sunday at arrowhead i mean that's such a huge edge i think indifference between last week and this week is is dealing with smith in in toony and um who am i missing crede then crede humper yeah the guy that i talked about more than anyone actually because the bangles the bangles pick jaxon carman over him and i i stop and forgiven them and so yeah i think uh that's such a huge factor because if in jake said it at the beginning there's a very real possibility where the chiefs are like isiah we're we're gonna run for 200 today and i'm not sure the bangles are going to be able to do much to stop it and that's such a key especially early in this one yeah i thought the the bangles offensive interior actually held up against the patriots and that was what we thought the problem would be um not so convinced that we'll repeat this week but on top of that like you said james they got to tackle the yak disparity you talk about uh the polar opposites the patriots for the best tackling team in the nfl in week one the bangles yak was was dismal and this is a yak league right now average up the target across the league down the chiefs on the other hand best yak team in the nfl in week one tackling can't can't underline that one enough from from the bangles perspective that's a great shout james what about you guys from the cheese side of things or any comments there from and any of the keys that we've identified before we get to the cheese keys i just want to say thank you james for uh your comments on creed uh we appreciate you guys not drafting them and taking carmen instead we'll throw that out there sorry i'm all on the wounds but she doing what uh our listeners already don't like the cheese man what are you doing? smith in in in humphrey in the same freaking off season i mean my god and all three of those guys could have been bangles like in at least two offices right now in at least two right like smith and creed especially creed like smith whatever i don't know the medicals and what they had but anyways what uh what are the chiefs keys guys i'll echo one of jakes uh and and chris you can you can hit the highlights for me it's about doing what you didn't do last week you put rookie kingsley sumatia out there on an island and said go take care of business tranerton is not going to be that guy i guarantee that so how do you help him it's not just about chipping a little bit i do think they have to run a little bit more 12 person now give him a body outside of him so that he can kind of play off of that but i will say what he lacks in experience i think he does make up for in arm length and footwork so i think this is going to be premiere battle they just got to come up on top of it you know one of the biggest things for me is the pressure can city and ryan kind of talked about this earlier and and we've alluded to it a little bit uh as well or i alluded to it a little bit as well but you didn't get lamar jackson down and you got pressure on the quarterback but you couldn't get into the ground you guys had the same problem with percet uh that's a huge thing for can city and i'm not trying to take a shot at joe burrow but he's not lamar jackson when you're talking about move around in the pocket being able to run uh and so how much is that going to play into the chief being able to get him down they've struggled at times with burrow in the past so i'm not saying that that it's going to be something where they're going to get six or seven sacks but i do think that that's going to be a huge key in this game is can they actually get him down to the ground can they get a couple of sacks and uh be successful getting the pressure and getting home i i hear you there joe burrow when the bangles have beaten the chiefs has been effective in making guys miss and when the chiefs have had their win or their their most impressive or important win go back to that AFC championship it was when chris jones is able to finish the play and finish the game and and that certainly is a factor the bangles meanwhile will have their hands will try to figure out how to block chris jones again and so that is always one of the marquee matchups that you highlight and outside of that there are some some strength on weakness mismatches or also some strength on strength uh pieces of of interest to me where i thought that in the few instances where the bangles were challenged in coverage i thought that their corners actually held up okay i think it's a bigger test this week with the chiefs weapons interested to see how this secondary reacts in a in a game that might see a heavier pass focus from the kansas city chiefs as well so i think we're going to learn a little bit more about both of these teams this week guys excited to see how this one plays out on sunday and how about the chiefs getting two AFC north teams out of the way early at home how about that for the schedule makers huh with those extra days of rest what what a gift from the schedule makers huh i you say gift i'm gonna say i don't think it was a gift the way we looked at the schedule to start the season i'm just saying if you have to play no i get what you're saying i completely agree with you but when you look at those first two weeks and it's the ravens and the bangles the team you played in the AFC championship game was past year and a bangles team that's always played you tough and and had your number more times than not more recently uh that doesn't feel like you get but i completely agree the rest is a huge deal uh so i think that that could play into it as well and and uh this is not a fun schedule for the chiefs but it's the NFL and it's not ever going to be a fun schedule so looking forward to this game there gentlemen for sure should be a good one i i look forward to some barbecue and some non-December Kansas city weather it's supposed to be like 86 on sunday oh like sign me up let's go i'm excited for this one i cannot wait to watch this one i think this will be the game of the week and if you want to follow along jake and james chris and ryan check them out over at locked on bangles and locked on chiefs part of locked on podcast network your team every day now the pitchberg stealers they're a team that is the only team that has a win in the AFC north after week one and then the denver broncos bo nix had a pretty rough NFL debut but he'll be looking to bounce back in us that pitchberg stealers defense in denver so i'll be talking with chris carter of locked on stealers cody work of locked on broncos those two and everything you need to know about the game cross over thursday is presented by prize picks go to prize picks dot com slash locked on NFL and use code all lowercase locked on NFL to win $50 instantly when you play five dollars we continue on our cross over thursday here getting into what needs to happen in order for the pitchberg stealers or the denver broncos to win sundays week to match up what better way to get the analysis and the local experts on the biggest stories since the stealers are the away team they're traveling to denver we're gonna start things off here with chris carter chris when you look at this stealers team offensively defensively all the story lines that we have talked about what are three things that the stealers have to do and how are they going to do it if they're gonna leave empower field for the first win since 2009 that's the thing they're gonna have to do it their way i think that the stealers are in a position where they know their traditional way of playing football the way they've done the last three years since ben rottesburg has been out the league that is a way that they can that they can go about go about playing they did it last week against the falcons i think they're gonna try to do the same exact thing in this game so my first key is playing playing a way to limit bonics from getting anything started don't give him anything easy any big plays no busted coverage is deep your job this week is to make him if he's gonna score on you he's gonna dink and dunk all his way around the field and have to have to hit you with a with a lot of small shots here and there to force him to have to make 10 12 really good decisions before he gets a touchdown and if he does that kudos to him but like you were talking about the stealers pass rush the secondary has been has been really good there their linebackers have been more involved in coverage this year you give yourselves more chances to create a turnover when you force him to have to be like that as a rookie especially when he was still trying to figure things out last week don't let him get his confidence that's that's step number one step number two i really think a lot of this comes comes down to can the stealers offense just do what it did last week and stay ahead of the sticks i know they didn't get a touchdown and everyone saw wow six field goals they're not gonna win too many games like that but i think that they'll eventually start to finish drive but the big thing that i saw last week cody was they were able to possess the football they are now they're in week one they were fourth in time possession they were they were 20th last year or something like that and that was a complete turnaround after matt canada got fired and so what you're talking about arthur smith and differences there there's one there they're possessing the football that means justin field has to win third downs they got to give justin field third and short third and five or less uh to to allow him to have the threat of running the ball as well as passing the ball um and i think that'll be a big key there but my my my last key here is all is also back on the defense you let no run game emerge you were talking about the struggles with juan to with juan to williams the offensive liner you cannot let this be a day where all of a sudden they crack open up a few big plays and it makes life easier and bonix make the rookie quarterback have to live in third and eight third and nine third and seven or longer anywhere from from from there on back and force him to have to stand back in the pocket wait for his routes to develop because they're further down the field and attack and give tj watt alex high smith cam hayward you name that stealer's defensive brush pass rusher give them maybe a four or five second chance to go in and get the quarterback and fluster the rookie those are my three keys kody what are you looking at oh i tell you that's a tough task here you know you naming what the stealers have to do i look at it from the broncos perspective i'm like if the stealers do that it's going to be a very very difficult game for the broncos i think the the overall perspective a lot of people a lot of the fans don't have a lot of uh belief this week in the offense especially because they're playing that stealers defense and that you know i think the first thing to it's kind of a counter to one of your keys first key here for the broncos offensively you have to find a way to run the ball look i think if you have a close game early on or let's say you have a tie game let's say this is a field goal game kind of how it was a little bit last week except never had a couple of safeties that you know they're able to get some points off of don't don't abandon the run game i think so much of it is Denver put themselves in situations where they were passing short on first down or they were throwing behind the sticks on first down and then the Seahawks defense did a great job of rallying and tackling okay now you face a second and 12 second and 11 well okay you don't you can't get anything there now you're facing a third and i know everyone knows you're going to throw the ball now Denver had too many one-sided plays go against them in terms of negative production or even one to two yards there if you can get the run game going you allow bow to not have the pressure on his shoulders to say okay i've got a press here to try to make a play happen i think that's what he did a little bit too much in week one and ultimately it cost the Broncos i think a victory and it cost boa you know a good performance that he could have had against the Seahawks last week and the Steelers defense as Sean Payton has said all week long he said no disrespect to Seattle this defense we're facing this week is a more experienced unit these guys have been playing together and they certainly have a scheme that's going to try to dictate the outcome of the game so i'm very curious to see how Sean Payton counteracts he can't do it without trying to get the run game going we'll see if they stick to that or we'll see if they abandon it early on if Denver finds themselves down you know two possessions they were more than likely abandoned the run game so Denver can't find themselves in that situation that'll be key number one key number two here limit the explosives given up now while the Broncos lost this game to Seattle 26 to 20 there were really two plays that defined the outcome of it against Denver's defense now in the third quarter the the Seahawks went a little bit up tempo they gashed him in a no huddle approach and then Kenneth Walker out of 23 yard touchdown okay that's an explosive play you give up there's that Gino Smith earlier in the game had a 34 yard touchdown run because Denver sent an all-out pressure it was beautifully sent beautifully timed but then there was one guy just off by half a yard Gino Smith took it and he ran for 34 yards Justin Fields is a lot faster than Gino Smith so you can't have those type of breakdowns where Fields can't step up in between you know in the pocket when it kind of creates a little bit of an opening he can get to the second level and take it we've seen Fields rush for over a hundred yards from a quarterback standpoint in Chicago you don't think you can't do it with the Pittsburgh Steelers that will be a challenge and also just accounting for the tailbacks another explosive Zach Charbonay wide open on a running back wheel route seemed like a miscommunication defensively but limit the explosives here by the Steelers offense who do have some explosive players albeit that they are young but they still have the capability of breaking off a big play and that could suck the wind out of your cells early on that is key number two the third and final key here Bo Nix he has to play better and the offense needs to be ahead of the sticks in a lot of the situations you couldn't ask for a tougher test for Bo Nix than this Steelers defense because how often is it you're going to find yourself ahead of the sticks when you're facing that bonded pass rush there and look not a lot of people I think talk about Alex high Smith enough he's evolved over the last couple of years to be a very very good pass rush or opposite a watt there and you mentioned a fully healthy cam Hayward this is a tough challenge and look if Bo can play better if he can rise to the occasion it's going to change a lot of the opinions that fans had on him following week one it doesn't get any better than the opportunity in the challenge of the Steelers defense but at the same time you can also dig in a little bit of a deeper hole so Bo for the third and final key he has to play better and the offensive unit around him has to help him out in some way shape or form I think there's a lot of similarities between how these teams need to win this football game I think it's what happens when you got young quarterbacks that you're trying to protect young offensive lines or offensive lines that you're trying to that you're trying to still put together I do think this could come down to those explosive plays with which team can get some of those to make life easier for their offense and that could be I think that's going to be maybe the story of the game is if if Bo Nix gets that it changes everything and it gives him a chance it you know it gives him a chance to put the Steelers offense in the desperation mode but that might be the ultimate key here is Cody get one of these offenses into desperation mode if one of these teams get get to get to a 14 point lead at some point in this game the other is going to be pressed to step outside of itself and do things that can be dangerous and lead to even more mistakes yeah 100% look in this game I know the lines have moved a little bit initially the Steelers were three point road favorites against ever that line has now shifted to our friends over there a fan dual sports book uh to two and a half uh road favorites here against the Broncos where the over under set at 36 and a half where it feels like the under might be very appeasing in this game here Chris is great Cody's great you can check those guys out Chris and Cody over at lockdown Steelers and locked on Broncos respectively part of locked on podcast network your team every day the last of the four p.m. window the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals and NFC West matchup and Travis Rogers and as Clancy will get you ready for that game and they will be taking you through what they feel like this game could look like all right Travis Rogers uh locked on Rams one of the dynamic duo you and Doug you over there do a great job Alex Clancy locked on Cardinals at Clancy's corner underscore um past a victory here uh I know one's gonna be Cooper Cup but so let's start with that one let's start with the most obvious and then go through the other two what you think the three biggest past a victory four yeah if I'm ranking him Alex I think the number one thing is what we were talking about last segment it's what all of my every dayers will hear me talk about I I right before the season started and this was before you know everything went haywire with the Rams up front football is super complicated if you want it to be it's also super easy if you want it to be if you can't protect your quarterback or control the line of scrimmage you have no chance it is simply if your line is good you're probably going to be okay if it's bad it's probably not going to be okay that's number one can they protect Matthew Stafford what you're talking about with the pressure uh their ability to get or not get pressure I think that's number one they don't have to be you know the the 92 Cowboys offensive line but do can they give him that second that second and a half to be able to run more of their playbook that's number one for me number two is somebody other than Cooper Cup that Matthew Stafford can lean on a little bit I think Cooper Cup's going to be Cooper Cup right he he has to be if he's not then the the writing's kind of on the wall there so offensive line to a offensive weapon that isn't cup maybe it's Kyron Williams maybe it's Puka or excuse me Parkinson I think those are the two most likely candidates I'd like to see Blake quorum play a little bit he didn't touch the field once against the line so maybe there's another candidate right there and and the other thing is is what we talked about a second to go to is that is that defense it they're not going to take the ball away a ton they're not going to have a million sacks they're not going to be somebody that we're talking about the way that we talked about Aaron Donald for a decade they don't have one of those at least not yet and probably never again because the guys like that don't come around very often you throw up another 20 spot probably win right like that I think that this Rams defense gives up on average somewhere between 17 and 20 21 points somewhere in there they're in pretty good shape it's not going to jump off the page at you but the line Almond Ross St. Brown had four catches Sam Laporta had four catches you know these are two of the most dynamic players in the league at their position and they really were pretty quiet against the Rams so if that defense can quietly continue to kind of stifle the opposition I think that's the third most important thing before pivoting to the Cardinals like is Kyrie Williams was that game flow that he wasn't this guy is this like an overstated thing because he was kind of a darling last year is he going to be a bell cow guy and I hate bell cow bell cow bun slinger I can't stand always but is he going to be is he going to be that one alpha in the backfield or is this kind of like a because you haven't talked about him at all today this has been about Cooper Cup in the past came more than anything last last year when he was good Rams didn't lose it was really it was really as simple as that when he was in a when he was a storyline when he was a topic the Rams really didn't lose when he wasn't they were kind of all over the place so I think that the plan is for him to be that word that you don't like or two words that you don't like the bell cow but but I don't think that they're going to have a ton of opportunities there I think they've got to use Matthew Stafford's abilities I think they have to put the ball in his hands but I wouldn't be surprised if they start the my my number one criticism of Sean McVeg quite frankly and this is the antithesis of podcasting brought I don't have a ton of complaints about the coach of my team I just he's terrific the one little nitpick that I have about him they if if a running play or two doesn't work we're out we're just gonna we're just gonna chuck it and and and they got a guy you know they they are very quick to go to the passing game and I get it Matthew Stafford's a special quarterback but I hope that I hope that they do commit to it and if it's not him getting the ball 25 times or whatever it is maybe he gets it 15 and Blake Korm gets it eight something like I'm okay splitting it up they're pretty similar guys but the Rams pass the ball they that's just it's just what they do yeah yeah and we talked about the first segment pass is kind of like a run just like Brady with that omen and all those guys yeah just four-yard pass same as run yeah so for the Cardinals I mean a lot of it is run it back the first 35 minutes of last week was exactly what you wanted aside from it they touched down by the bills and the first half that was sparked by multiple penalties by the Cardinals they were somewhat phantom run it back run the ball get the ball the train ride get the ball the trade dorks with the wrinkle of opening it up a little bit more downfield they didn't take they didn't throw the ball down the field at all last last week caliber I think had six attempts over 10 yards two or drops one was a tip ball that was almost intercepted like they need to kind of unlock it a little bit now withdrew petzing's offense and this is something that I've preached the entirety of the offseason due to the lack of talent on defense the best defense the Cardinals have is their run game so it's hard for them it's hard for me to understand why they would go away from running the ball on first running the ball on second throwing on third of need be to be able to mill clock whose Matthew Stafford on the sideline and give themselves the best chance to win but for me it's do the same thing as last week just unlock it a little bit and definitely get Marvin Ayers and junior involved number one number two Kyler Murray needs to be more Kyler Murray-ish needs to be outside the pocket more he had a good pocket presence even though people didn't think last week he took a couple sacks he needs to get out of the pocket and just it's it's the Tony Romo spin just get the hell out of the pocket things that make other teams quiver one of those is that from Kyler Murray and one of the things that with with Murray specifically you're talking about the reason that Murray as a Rams person was never super scary to me it's because we had Aaron Donald yeah Aaron Donald is crazy and sound he's as fast as Kyler Murray he could he could catch him right so it's like okay go run around 99 is gonna catch in breaking in half go knock yourself out I don't care he's gone yeah and and and now so the quarterback that can run around like that I think is a very different animal than it's been previously because Aaron Donald is not there yeah and what we saw for week one was Kyler Murray was doing it circumstantially I think he had one design run from but the rest is he looked very smart with the ball he looked like the old Kyler Murray and that is something that he needs to be more special I said that he needs to be an elite game manager with special in him he there wasn't a whole lot of special they needed more of that and I think that's number two and then number three which could have been number one but the the cardel's office is going to win or lose this season for the Cardinals anyways is if the Cardinals don't get to Matthew Stafford with this offensive line that's in front of him there are going to be very uncomfortable conversations after week two because if they don't that would most likely result in a loss for the Cardinals and that's something that the here's the thing I'm not gonna do like we're not gonna do predictions but it's like you think the Rams gonna win I'm assuming I think the Cardinals are gonna win this is one of those 50-50 ball games you know a loose ball on a basketball court who gets this who gets this ball has a much better chance of positioning themselves to be quote-unquote in the hunt in week 14 than those than that who doesn't 0-2 right now is a very very scary place to be with the construct of these two rosters well I think you said do you guys have Detroit week three yep you know San Francisco week three the Rams haven't beat the Niners in a meaningful game since the NFC championship a couple of years ago the Niners have the Kyle Shanahan is the McVay guy that he cannot solve it just they just have not been able to figure that out so Rams are looking with with the game on Sunday if it does another way they're looking at 0-3 they've got the Packers in week five so that's another really challenging team right there I know you you know they play the same divisions and everything else but this is this is the one that at least let whoever wins this game go okay we're okay let let's buckle up and let's go and with the Rams health the way that it is you're you know Rams have a really early buy they have a buy week six so it's it's one of those things that this game at least potentially they got the Bears in week four but this game potentially could be one of those hey we this is the only win we got before week five or week six and our buy you don't want to go into that week six 0-5 1-4 would be real bad but it's a lot better than 0-5 for more on Travis more on Alex check them out over at lockdown games and lockdown Final score predictions for this Sunday Night Games Chicago Bears Houston Texans the Texans are at home you guys heard your franchise quarterback leave early beat the traffic we'll do whatever you got to do to get to the NRG stadium on time because the Bulls on parade got a rattle a couple of bears that come into town the final score predictions Lauren take it away. Yeah the line over on Fandell Sportsbook is Bears plus six and a half as the road underdogs and that to me feels like about where I would put it like I do think the Houston Texans are going to win this game I don't think I think Bears fans have been penciling this one in as an L since the schedule came out it's like okay Texans the week two the Bears aren't going to be where they're this is not going to be the peak Chicago Bears yet the Texans are a few steps ahead of where the Bears are in the terms of the building up a young quarterback team building process here so I do think this Bears defense isn't going to let Houston walk all over them and score a ton of points but whatever reason I think it's going to be enough for them and I think the Bears offense will get a little bit more going than they get against Tennessee because a lot of them getting in their own way and this is a long preamble to say I'll go Houston Texans 23 Chicago Bears 16 few more field goals than either team would like or maybe there's a missed extra point or a two-point conversion attempt that fails in there so we end up getting kind of a funky score and the Bears end up keeping it a one-score game there but maybe the final score looks a little closer than a lot of the game does the Bears get a touchdown late to bring it within seven but ends up being a little bit too little too late and makes the final score you know a little bit more respectable than where parts of the game are earlier on really quick for my fantasy lovers Lauren is there anybody on the Chicago Bears that people should sit this week or maybe a player you anticipate having a big week yeah I would generally steer clear of the Bears backfield like DeAndre Swift is the number one back and you know he had a good enough game last week but everything beyond behind DeAndre Swift is I don't understand the rhyme or they're rotating four different guys there I don't know it's hard to piece together like they could they use one of them on third down some of the time but it doesn't I don't haven't been able to figure out why or the sense of the rotation behind DeAndre Swift so I wouldn't rely a lot on that group and again like Cole Clement hasn't done anything yet this season so I wouldn't go there if Keenan Allen is the if he's healthy if he if he stays off the injury report the rest of the week here he's the guy to focus on he had multiple red zone targets including a touchdown that hit him in the hands and he dropped it like Keenan Allen's gonna get his Caleb Williams already loves throwing the ball to him he's he's been more of the security blanket than anybody and that that's who I would keep my eye on here we go final score prediction for me you know what Lauren you said six and a half is a line right now yes yeah I think if Houston can go out there they held the ball for 40 million 40 minutes against the Indianapolis coach the last two drives for the Houston Texans 15 minutes 14 points came away from that so if they can play keep away with the bears and based off what we saw week one a struggling offense already an offense that do we believe they have the offensive line like the coach has that can allow their quarterback time to get a couple of those bombs off no not yet so this is all we can go based off of I think if you can keep the ball in front of them make it hard for the Chicago Bears to move the ball and play keep away this could be a game that can get ugly really soon for the Houston Texans so I'm looking at a 23-24-10 type of game I think Houston wins by two scores and I think that we will see another good performance by Joe mixing out one 50 on the ground but just another solid performance from him and I can also see this being a quote-unquote tank deal game where he's getting open because y'all just don't have nobody to stop him he can beat almost any any coverage you throw at him so I think this would be a game where we come where we say man Joe had another solid game and tank Dale played very good for the Houston Texans 2014 one thing I want to ask you about quick before we wrap up is how do you feel about the Texans special teams because that was a big part of the Bears win in week one they had a blocked punt for a touchdown and they also had a really long punt return and a really long kickoff return neither one were touchdowns they gave the Bears offense really good full position and then they love their rookie punter Tory Taylor he can flip the field and pin offenses back how do you feel about the general operation of the Texans special teams are there any concerns there do you feel like that's a strong group overall I don't know anything about Texans no no I think that's a a strong group the Houston Texans have had one of the better special team units in the NFL like even when they were going out there playing for tie games and they were only winning three games in the season or four games in the season and Davis Mills was a quarterback we was Jeff Driscoll and the Driscoll okay no matter what it was the special teams unit for the Houston Texans have been well and they love Towson down here you mentioned y'all punter up there man he can flip a field down here he can flip a field and I think you don't necessarily want to see a punter too much but he is a you know a special weapon where you can kind of if a drive if you're throwing out on a 30-yard line he can get you and have the offense start the opposing team offense they can they can start on the 30-yard line he can flip the field I like the special team units there coast by I think one of the better special team coaches in the NFL Frank Ross shot out the British Brooks he had a big hit on special teams last week I know he would play some damn good special teams snaps for the Houston Texans very good unit and I think once the league continues to figure out ways to go about the new kickoff rule you know scheming up how to get extra yards and we're already seeing more returns I think this special teams unit can be even dangerous even more dangerous excuse me it'll be a big matchup then because both teams are feeling good about their special teams and all it takes right is that one that one big place at the big return is it is it a block somewhere is it tackling a guy way farther back like that's the kind of thing that have a big swing in this game so look for look for either team have a big special teams play I will put that in my prediction as well I don't know who it will but somebody's going to have a big special teams play that has a big impact in this one I do want to shout out for my Houston Texans legend Jonathan Owens yes he scored the touchdown last week on the block yes special teams shout out to the legend I know what I'm doing Sunday night and that is watching bears Texans I cannot wait I think CJ shout out his electric Caleb Williams is obviously must see TV so you want to check out more John more Lauren check them out over at the locked on Texans and locked on bears podcast part of locked on podcast network your team every day that brings us to Monday night as you have the Atlanta Falcons they're going through the Kirk cousins experience you have the Philadelphia Eagles they obviously came off a big week one win they're going to be facing off under the lights and you have Aaron Freeman locked on Falcons and Gino Camolary of locked on Eagles with plenty of things to look out for so wrapping up today's crossover Thursday I'm Aaron Freeman of locked on Falcons joined by Gino Camolary of locked on Eagles and crossover Thursday is of course presented by prize picks go to prize picks dot com slash locked on NFL and use code in all lower case locked on NFL to win $50 instantly when you play $5 so Gino let's get into the things that these teams need to win need to do in order to win and you know also called keys to victory and so for me the big three for the Atlanta Falcons are hey coaches do your job you know and come up with a good game plan and two don't get owned in the trenches by this Eagles pass first that wants to have a resurgent game and then number three win that turnover battle and unlike the Green Bay Packers turn those in two touchdowns and so talking about that number one thing you know coaches jobs put players in a position to succeed they did not do that in week one you know I could sit here and spend hours and you know speculate on all the different ways that I would personally if I was a coach of the Atlanta Falcons put those guys in in ways to succeed that are different than what the Falcons did in week one but you know while locked on pays me very well you know I don't make quite as much as the Falcons coaching staff does and so they get paid the big bucks so they need to come up with better strategies than what somebody like me you can come up with on a podcast but just one suggestion that I'll offer for them for free bring back a little bit more misdirection in the offense right if that's not going to necessarily be play action like it wasn't last week then you got to compensate with maybe a lot more motion in the offense NFL players are just too good to just simply line up and just try to beat you the only team in the state of Georgia that can do that is the University of Georgia because they play at a much lower level of competition and frankly if you try to do that against the Eagles they're just better than you and they'll be able to outdo you in that regard and then that leads us to number two you know you got to keep Kirk clean in a pocket you know I'm looking for this offensive line especially on the interior to see how they match up with Jalen Carter he scares me from the University of Georgia I just feel like he's going to wreak havoc all over this game and again I hope Vic Fangio you know continues to basically have a bug up his butt about playing Bryce Huff and that's just one less issue that the Falcons have to deal with but if they do have to deal with Bryce Huff or any of these edge rushers you pay Charlie Warner to be one of the five highest paid blocking tied in so ask him to do that job and block and let cow pits go out there and be the playmaker in the passing game rather than having him stuck in there the chip and whatnot to help out these tackles and then that third one is we saw the Falcons a big reason why they lost that week one game was because they were minus three in the turnover margin Eagles were minus two but they still managed to win I think some of that was owed to the fact that on those three turnovers Phillip Green Bay was only to convert those into field goals and so the Falcons need to be plus two plus three in terms of turnovers this week and turn those into touchdowns and we'll see if they can do that but now I've outlined the three keys to victory for the Atlanta Falcons what do you got for the Philadelphia Eagles number one I'm going to go off of your number three I think it's win the turnover battle and it's two teams that come off of games where they lost the turnover battle it definitely was a point of emphasis in the film room this week you think the coaches were harbing on them for ball security this is going to be two teams that put an emphasis on that going into this game and for the Philadelphia Eagles it starts with the leadership of your quarterback in that position if Jalen can turn the ball over why can't I turn the ball over why do I have to be perfect well Jalen has to set that regard win the turnover battle you can't have two turnovers on the first two drives of a football game that's only happened once in the last decade and that was in 2014 against the Jaguars on opening day so let that sit in the past and let that be another decade before it happens number two and the most important thing for number two Nick Sariani get your team dialed in from the get go you're a CEO head coach you're not calling plays you're not the defensive coordinator the reason you came out sloppy was because of the preparation Monday through Saturday you were not ready to come out there and win that football game in that first half and it starts with the head coach and we put a lot of pressure on that guy but when you can't go down the play call sheet and say why did you call this play why did you call this play in those areas when you're in the red zone when you're in for a minute when you're starting the football game you have to be dialed in when it comes to getting the snap off on time not taking delay of games not having 12 guys in the huddle Nick Sariani get things going and number three attack prime time Kirk cousins like you've attacked prime time Kirk cousins there's a formula to it and I was talking to Lou on our show yesterday that Kirk will he'll be able to keep it close but then when one or two things goes awry and you get into that second half when he starts to chase points much like Jalen Hertz has his hulk moments that's when all things go awry for Kirk cousins and the chaos meter can really start to unfold I think the Eagles have to make it difficult for him if he gets the ball out quickly they have the guys on the island now that can play more press in Quignon Mitchell and Darius sleigh but it starts with affecting Kirk cousins up front number one when the turnover battle number two Nick Sariani you got to have this team dialed in and number three attack prime time Kirk cousins all night long and I want to throw an asterisk in there because this is almost like an S tier if you're in that off or defensive game planning room right now and you're Vic Fangio and you're not looking at Bijon Robinson and pointing and circling this guy and saying hey do not let him ruin the game for us there's something going wrong because he is the one guy that if you look at he could change the game in the blink of an eye and Josh Jacobson that second half for Green Bay he started to get going so if you let a player like that who the more he gets punched in the mouth the more he wants to come back and run the football with a little bit more intensity in the past game in the run game you have to take away Bijon Robinson yeah it's going to be a great matchup between Bijon and Sequon all eyes are going to be glued on probably the two most dynamic explosive runners in the NFL and we'll see sort of who shines probably both of them we'll shine at various points but I do love the potential given the historic weaknesses of the Eagles at that linebacker position let's do what so many other teams have done successfully in exploit that and get some 101s with Bijon in the open field that's a good way to round out this week I think that you know Falcons Eagles you got two bird teams facing off two offenses that can be electric and the NFL this was a good game to put in prime time on Monday night so for more of course on Aaron more on Gino check them out over at locked on Falcons and locked
