In our music spotlight, we remember Marty Robbins, born September 26, 1925, one of the most popular and successful country and western singers from the late 1940s through the early 1980s, 500 songs, 60 albums. Here's Marty Robbins' first big hit in 1959. Out in the West Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl. My time would find me in Rose's Cantina, music would play and 30 new world. Blacker than night were the eyes of a Nina, wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was deep for this Mexican maiden, I was in love but in vain I could tell. One night a wild young cowboy came in, wild as the West Texas wind. Dyson and Darryn a drink he was sharing with wicked, the lien of the girl that I love. So in anger, I challenged his right for the love of this maiden, downward his hand for the gun that he wore. My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat, the handsome young stranger laid down on the floor. Out through the back door of Rose's iron, out where the horses were tied. I caught a good one, it looked like it could run, up on its back and away I did right. Just as fast as I could from the West Texas town of El Paso, I'd do the badlands of New Mexico. Back in El Paso, my life would be worthless, everything's gone in life, nothing is left. It's been so long since I've seen the young me, my love is stronger than my field did. I sat a lot better the way I did go, riding alone in the dark. Maybe tomorrow a bullet may find me, tonight nothing's worse than this pain in my heart. In the last year I am on the hill overlooking El Paso, I can see Rose's canteen of the load. My love is strong and it pushes me onward, down off the hill to the leaner I go. Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys, off to my left right a dozen more. Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me, I have to make it to Rose's back door. The leaner is dreadfully wrong for I feel, a deep burning pain in my soul. Though I am trying to stay in the saddle, I'm getting weary unable to ride. But my love for the leader is strong and I rise where I fall, though I am weary I can't stop to rest. I see the white buff of smoke from the rifle, I feel the bullet go deep in my chair. From out of nowhere the leaner has found me, kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side. I'm playing that for my Marty Robbins all-time greatest hits CD, look at this, streets of Laredo, ribbon of darkness are one of my favorites, a devil woman, you gave me a mountain collage, my woman, my woman, my wife, oh my gosh, Red River Valley, good music from Marty Robbins. Now, today's motivational moment, thanks to Livingstone Wealth Management, Raymond James in Madison, train your mind to see the good in everything.
