Mike Moore Media. Hey, let's check in with Eddie McGee, Executive Director of the Stokes County Arts Council. Always on the line. Hey Eddie, welcome back. How are you? Thank you, Mike Moore. I'm doing fabulous. Oh my goodness. I am fabulous, as always. Fabulous. Yeah. Oh my goodness. Yeah, we were just talking before we started the podcast. What a busy time it is right now with all kinds of events coming up. It is. No, that's true. I mean, for basically all communities, I think fall is just a, it's a great time to celebrate changing in seasons and in different celebrations. Both outdoor and indoor are happening and that's the way we are at Stokes Arts right now. Yeah, yeah. Okay, busy time. Well, I know a lot's been going on here just in the last little while, but let's jump right in and some things coming up for sure. Yeah, okay. So the first thing I want to mention, we we have had to, a cancellation this Saturday was supposed to be our Stokes jam picking at the park, which supports our junior Appalachian musician program and only because the tropical storms coming in. So we're, we're listening to our emergency medical services suggestion. There's going to be a lot of rain on Friday and it could hold over a little bit until Saturday, but the ground, it's an outdoor event we were going to have and we're trying to reschedule now, but the ground's going to be saturated. Yeah. So unfortunately, we are canceling our Stokes jam picking at the park for this Saturday and we will reschedule soon. Okay. So keep that in mind. And then we got, I'm going to mention some classes here. We've got a new fiber artist who's somewhat leading an effort here, Janice Harmon, and we've got Intro to Knitting. And you can see all these classes are either on our social media pages, Facebook page or website. So Intro to Knitting class is coming up. We've got a, people can create their own witches cauldron mug coffee mug that's happening on to October the 5th. Another little ceramic pottery thing to keep in mind or spooky fairy houses. That's also on the 5th so that they can come and take back to back classes and come up with a spooky fairy house and a witches cauldron coffee mug. All in the same day. How about it? And how about that? And then one other one is in October 15th through the 24th Intro to crochet. And that's Janice again. So we love the fact that we're trying some, some fiber arts programming. We've got a concert on Sunday, October 6th coming up Moira and Chris. Moira is from Ireland, fabulous harvest. And Chris is a guitarist from the United Kingdom. They've been here before prior to Covid and now they're back again. And just a phenomenal duo from Europe. So were we pleased to host them? And then our 2024 Danbury ghost tours that kicks off on October the 11th. We've got let's see October 11th, 12th, 13th, 18, 19, 20 and 26, 27. Our ghost tours this year include the old historic Danbury school, the old historic, six county jail. That's something new that we've added. And then we have the historic courthouse and the arts place. Four locations. This post paranormal group is the one that that organizes this. And two tours a night, they will fill up quickly and they've already started to fill up. So if anyone's interested in participating in the Danbury ghost tours, sign up folks. October's a great month to do a ghost tour. It certainly is. Jan, I'd like to have been the flyer you've got on your social media, but that's that's kind of spooky already there. Yeah. Well, in the jail, let me tell you what, the jail spooky it up going down in there in the daytime. And so it's going to be interesting one down there at night. And something not on our social media pages, yet it will go up today is our third annual stokes, Rocktoberfest. That's going to be Saturday, October the 12th. The bands include the terrible twos, Men in Black and Mean Street, the premier Van Halen tribute band in the Carolinas and the event is free. We will accept donations. We'll have some food options out there. And, uh, but that's October 12th at King Central Park. Stay tuned for that. If you like rock and roll, you're not going to get any better than those three, three lineups, those three acts and, uh, just phenomenal entertainment again, free. Hopefully we'll be able to hold that outside at King Central Park. What do you call it again? So what's your name of that again? It's called Stokes Rocktober. Okay. Rocktoberfest. All right. Got it. Okay. Yep. And then the final thing I'm going to mention, and we, you briefly mentioned this, prior to us coming on the air, is Saturday, October 19th, the reach, the peaks challenge, hanging rock state parks. Um, we typically have around 400, 500 participants. Throughout this year's 10.5 miles, it will include a Cook's Wall, House Rock, Wolf Rock, hanging rock peaks. And it goes down the Indian Creek Trail, several waterfalls they'll be able to experience. It finishes at the Green Heron L House right on the Dan River. We'll have food trucks at the end and beverages. And, um, uh, again, the reach peaks challenge, I think this is either 13th or 14th year of this thing. And it's, it's just, it's grown Mike every year and, and people can hike, people can walk. And it's, it's, it's just a beautiful time. And, uh, we're honored to partner with hanging rock state park on an outdoor recreation art type of event. So there you go. Yeah. Okay. All righty. I've, I've tried to take notes and keep up with you. Well, we'll have a test later on, Mike. I'm scared. I'm worried about that already. It'll be an all example. You will have to kind of decide for you notes there. No, but we have problems. Yeah. We, we appreciate the support all the time, Mike. And, uh, thanks for promoting all the different arts and great happenings and folks from Rockingham County in the surrounding area. So, uh, yeah, we're excited and, um, we're excited. We're for the weary, my friend. No, no, keep moving forward. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. All right. Good. Well, thank you for, uh, for the update and all the good things happening. And we'll just, uh, tell everybody where they can find this, um, uh, on Facebook and social media and everything else. Oh, I've got it. Thank you. Thank you. Thanks, Mike. Talk to you next month. Have a great day. You do too. All right. Bye. Bye. Bye. All right. That's Eddie McGee. He is executive director of the Stokes County Arts Council. He was kind of rushing right there at the end. But, uh, gosh, there's so much going on for sure. So, uh, if you were not able to keep up, uh, I was having a difficult time. But, uh, here, here's some ways to, uh, to keep, uh, right up to the minute. On Facebook, Stokes County Arts Council, and then, uh, StokesArts.org is their website. That's, um, two good tools. And he just mentioned something a moment ago, an event coming up that, uh, not even there yet, but it will be, uh, added today. So you heard about it here first. All righty. Thanks for your support. Thanks for, um, being involved whenever you can, uh, with the Stokes County Arts Council. [BLANK_AUDIO]
