There will be no personal nor direct attacks on anyone and I would ask that you please try to keep down the loud cheering and the clapping. There will be no booing and no unruly behavior. With that, this is painful and it will be for a long time. After all, these are a couple of high-stepping turkeys and you know what to say about a high stepper. No step too high for a high stepper. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 1065. Well, Sean's a tough guy. I mean, I think everybody knows that. You know Sean, he took some licks, he hangs in there. Yeah, what's wrong with the beer we got? I mean, the deal we got drank pretty good, don't it? Did you hear what I said? So this is a bad council. I had no doubt about them. That doesn't suck. If you don't like it, you're bad. Last question. Were you high on drugs? Last question, kiss my ****. Right, where we go, FM Talk 1065 midday mobile on this Thursday. Glad to have you along and we'll continue to update the latest on Hurricane Helene with her staff meteorologist, Dr. Bill Williams. Stay close for that. Also, coming up this hour, my man, John Young from Men United Against Violence joins us. Also Dale leash from land. Yeah. He had a busy day like so many of us did yesterday, except he was doing it for a job. We'll talk about that with him in a second. And right now, let's go to Robert. I think I think you're at the shop. It's my man playing price at Paris tractor. Hey, man. Hey, Sean, what's going on? Man, I got to find out from you because you sent me a text earlier. You know, and I'm just going to spill the with the kids say, spill the tea. I've learned from my daughter, spill the tea. You say beans as tea. You said y'all skid steers because we always talk about the 0% financing. You said that's not just tractors, skid steers and mini-exes with attachments 0% financing. Explain all that to me. Yeah, so we have a full line of skidster tract loaders and mini excavators in stock right now, all the Kubota brand, as well as all the different attachments for those skid steers and mini excavators from pilot forts, augers, rotary brush cutters, multers, grapples, a little bit of everything, all of that qualified for that zero interest financing group of Bota. And we have these all a lot ready to go right now. Okay, this is a this is because I mean, once for a period of time, it's been a there was a period of time that it was tough to find equipment, right? I mean, that you've got the chain and all those issues. Now y'all got it. There was times where we didn't have the first skid steer or mini excavator, you know, on the lot at any of our stores and today, times have changed and they still are offering that zero interest financing through Kubota right now. So it's still a good time. Okay, so let's talk about doing that. Come see in person or go online. How do we check out the selection at what's best for for getting this done? You can come by and see us or give us a call. We're right here in the middle of Robert Stell Highway 59 at Parris Tracker. We're here eight to five Monday through Friday, eight till noon on Saturdays or you can give us a call at 251947 4171. Thank you, Blaine. All right, there goes Blaine Price with Parris Tractor in Robert Stell. And I was going to read this text, but first I want to bring on because I want more time with him. My friend Dale Leash from Lainnet, Lainnetmobile.com. Hey, Dale. Hey, Sean. Okay, so as before we even get in our conversation, coming out of last hour, I was just talking about the smell of dirt. And yeah, you spent a rural life in Baldwin County, you know, the smell when they start turning peanuts, like you smell just that dirt smell everywhere. Yeah. Okay. So I've spent that smells out there now. And I was talking about getting that smell and my clothes when I was a kid just digging holes and making forts. And then how kids today are like, Oh, so and so disrespected me, like they have egos that they don't deserve having at 14, 15, 18 years old. I think what would change that is when I got real dirty as a kid showed up at the house, I was not allowed to breach the threshold. I was not allowed to come inside. I had to strip down. And mother took the hose to me. They're on the back porch and washed me down with the hose. And I think that keeps egos in check. Maybe we need to bring back hosing off kids on the back porch, you know, stand there and you're under wearing get hosed off. And then fire dog who I feel like, I don't know him, but I know him. He said, yeah, I guess him too. He said, had to make sure the hose ran for a few minutes. Otherwise, the water came out at 700 degrees. Also, bomb, giving you dawn soap for the wind. Yes, you didn't get regular soap. Here's the dawn soap and you have to stand out there, wash yourself. Did that happen to a young Dale leash? No, it didn't. You didn't get hose. That's what's wrong with you. You didn't get hose down on the back porch. No, no, no, no. I never, I never was a big, I was, I was never really big playing the dirt guy. I didn't like, I was more epistidious. I, I like to stay clean and as clean as possible. So if I, if I ever got the only time that I ever had a problem with dirt or mud really was in the marching band in my fully, in, in not my fully uniform, but the pants and the suspenders. And we were playing, we were dumb and playing football out behind the band room before football game. And I, I fell in a, I just felt flat face first into a puddle. So you then had to march with mud on your uniform? I, I managed to get a new uniform, a new pair of pants for that one day. And I think I had to march, they got to march in my boxers because like the, you wear pants, you wear shorts underneath them, but they were soaked. So I, I was wearing, I think I was wearing only boxers and the, and the pants. And as any abandoned will tell you, you don't really want to do that. It's a little draftier than you expect. So, uh, so yeah, plus it was very embarrassing because my band director just looked at me like I was the biggest idiot that has ever walked, you know, the earth. But I, though that's the only time, but I normally hate, I normally hate like dirt, mud and stuff, hate it. Uh, never used to swim in lakes and stuff. It was like swimming pools in the ocean for me only. Okay. I'm not a big mud guy. Well, there you go. I just, but you did have at least something to knock you down a few notches there. Yeah, I'm just gonna try. I know what you're, and I know what you're talking about too. I've, I've seen it happen with other kids. I just, I was not a part of that. Okay. Well, good for you. Or maybe not good for you. I don't know. I remember it distinctly here at 52 and I still remember it. All right. Yesterday I talked about how busy and it was busy. It was, you know, that the email goes out announcing that Mayor Cindy Stimson is not going to run for reelection. Obviously he's known this for a while since there was a video, a very well done video that goes with it. It's not like some wacky thing on a, you know, smartphone, but it was announced yesterday. It, I imagine how busy I was. How about for somebody who focuses on city politics like you? What was your day like yesterday? I mean, so we were, we were in the middle of recording our podcast and, or we were just about to get started when the email came through and I was like, well, y'all have fun. I'll be doing, I'll be doing this now. And so we, we did this and then posted a couple updates. I mean, I, we, I would get an update as I was eating lunch as well. So it was just like, it was kind of a whirlwind, a little bit of a, a little bit of a surprise because the mayor had always told us to, you know, just assume he's running again unless you hear otherwise. Well, yesterday we heard otherwise. And so that's kind of where we are. I don't know what is going to happen now. I, you know, we put a poll question up on our website about speculation. People thought it was going to run again. Yeah, I already, already speculated it was going to run again. And I did the poll question as I do every week. And so, you know, I put in names of folks that I thought might be, might be interested in running the people that we'd heard from that said that they were possibly interested in taking a different, you know, going in a different way to help the city. So put all that together. And the results are pretty interesting. Lightning McLean has gotten more votes for mayor than some of the people I put in the poll. I did that. I did that. It's kind of just fine. But he's, he's, he's not, he's not fading. Well, I'll tell you what, you look around the country and not just here at home in our fair city. You look around the country, Lightning McQueen polls quite well. You know, he just, I mean, in red states, blue states, purple states, Lightning McQueen, really strong. It just, and as a built in, as a built in base, I don't think anybody is concrete hard. So, so anyway, so that, that, I mean, the, the names that we've heard, obviously, and we've been hearing for some months, was, was Lawrence Batiste was the, was the name I'd been hearing the most from, from folks connected to the mayor and as well as people not connected to the mayor. So we talked to Scott Johnson, he texted him yesterday and he said, he didn't, he kind of hinted that, that, that Mayor might be his, might be his next move. But, but he kind of also said, haven't made up, looking at all my options, haven't made up my mind yet. So, so, so that was, that was my first inkling, that Lawrence Batiste, former police chief, former public safety director, would be among the running. I know, I know that Steve Nodine seems to be a more popular name now than I would have thought, but he's trying to make a comeback politically. So that's an option for him as well, you know, you said the county commissioner. Yeah, you said the, Batiste thing. And yesterday that came up, so we started doing the same thing you did, right, speculating, like some kind of coach, like a coach search when a coach leaves a, you know, college team. And Lawrence Batiste's name came up a couple different times and somebody said, was talking about it, I said, I had heard something, I couldn't put my finger on it. And I said, I thought it was something with landing up it. Had y'all reported on it, or you not just talked about it? I don't want to, you know, talk out of school, but there was something in my mind about that that, that Batiste had said something at some point, like not just recently, like months ago or something like that. I think he's been hinting at it for a while. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I mean, we, we got to obviously, and then obviously Paul Prine made, made our list of possibilities. Although I have to put the caveat in there that he currently lives in Sarah Land. Well, yeah, so we went through this earlier. So, I mean, the names have to move. Jerry Carl has come up. He's going to be able to show tomorrow to ask him. He didn't live in the sea limits. Well, he Jerry Carl also doesn't live in the city. That's what I'm saying. He didn't live in the sea limits. Paul Parn didn't live in the sea limits. Best Rich's name came up. She didn't live in the sea limits. Bradley Byrne, I hadn't heard it, but they, I mean, he didn't live in the sea limits. I mean, so a lot of the names that I heard just initially come out of like, well, they would, we'll have to watch the real estate listings and see some moves. I would be, I would be very surprised to see Bradley Byrne move out of Montrose to Mobile just to be mayor. I'd be surprised because I don't know if I would do that. I love Mobile. What? So, Montrose, man. Come on. He's going county still anyway, and even though he's been here with us. Yeah. No, I imagine his house is quite large. So, he's probably going to stay where he is. Paul Parn lives in Sareland. Like you said, Jerry Carl doesn't live in Mobile. Connie Hudson, until yesterday, I thought she lived in Mobile. I'm not, I'm not 100% sure now if she actually does or maybe she was annexed in or she did at one point. She was a district fit and she might still prepare, but I know, I know there's been some speculation for a while that she was, she was looking at that as well. I've not talked to her yet. I'm going to try, but that's another name that came up. Like you said, Best Rich. I think she's pretty submitted in Baroque right now though. So, I don't even know if she still has a house in Mobile at all. Wild, wild speculation. Of course, of course, what makes it fun. This makes it fun. You know, and I guess the rules on this, I think that to be a resident of the city of Mobile for 90 days, I guess before qualifying or before election, I'm not sure. So, they got to qualify by mid-July election being in August. So, people could move in time to do this, but I also think we're going to start here and I'd love to hear your take on it. I think we hear something by the end of the year or maybe that gets lost in the holidays, but I think we hear from people who want to be mayor pretty soon because this is a big enough job. I think people will be campaigning not just a month ahead of time. I think it's going to be months and months ahead of time. Yeah, and there's going to be a bunch of candidates that come out of the woodwork. I mean, anytime the incumbent leaves and there's one less person that you have to overcome, especially one that's been as popular as Mayor Stimson has been, you're going to see a lot of people going to the job. I mean, we haven't even discussed current city council members that might run. I, you know, Gina Gregory is a name that I think- What about? Yeah. To make a lot of sense. William Carroll? I know Joel, I know Joel Dave made it sound like he was done done, but I think he is- CJ Smalls said that. CJ Smalls said no. Yeah, I heard that. So he said officially no. That's a new one. I hadn't heard that. That's good. And then Joel Dave said that. Yeah, so the Joel days I heard this. I mean, maybe, but he said he was retiring, I guess, from everything. Well, like I said, I don't know if he's done done or not, but I'm just thinking about like, yeah, the longest serving council members. I mean, I think you got to think about some of the things that Ben Reynolds has done while on council. I had none council very long, but that's a name that might get some traction as well. Just from the standpoint of he has been very present as a council member, kind of not behind, you know, for somebody who's a new councilman, that has been, that has been very vocal on the council and kind of, you know, taking the lead on some things. So you might see him try to fool around with it as well. And then of course, William Carroll, who I think at one point would probably like to be mayor, I don't think he was excited at the opportunity run against Stimson this time, but with Stimson out of the race, I mean, maybe, but he has told, he has told me personally that he's got too much going on in his personal life with, you know, with a kid going to college for four more years, for him to be that excited about another grueling campaign like that. So I don't know. I think his thing that was before Stimson bowed out though. So his thinking and his next thing may have changed on that. What about somebody who had the gig before, most recently? I mean, he's got a job in Alabama legislature and with, I think the mall is bored, but anybody hear anything from Sam Jones? That's an interesting one. You know, I don't know. He might be very comfortable where he is right now. I mean, obviously, if he runs for mayor, he's going to give up his seat at the on the Moss Board. And if he wins, he can't be a state legislature anymore. So I, you know, I don't know. I haven't heard of that. I mean, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Obviously, I have not spoken to him yet about that. But, uh, but I don't know. I, I wouldn't, I wouldn't do it if I already had a job in the legislature kind of seems like a step, step down a little bit, right? But, uh, but you're one of many, and I thought that too, but I mean, sometimes we see these moves. You're, if you're in a, in the legislative branch, you're one of many. You move into the executive branch, even though you're coming from a state legislature. You are the guy. You are the guy. So, right, right. That's fair. That's fair. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. That's an interesting, that's an interesting one. I don't, I'll be, I'm also curious to see what, uh, what, uh, what new, what new people, uh, we, we see come on the scene. Um, not that I have any suggestions, but I think there's somebody who comes out of the private sector. I do. I think that I just, I feel it. I don't know. But somebody may come out to. That's what happened in the last, what happened in the last time, right? That's exactly what happened. I mean, the last time we had, we had, uh, you know, before Stimson, it was, it was Stimson before Stimson was mayor. So yeah, and I, you know, I, I think you're definitely going to see that. There's going to be some interest. Um, I just off the top of my head, I can't think of any really popular business people that come to mind right now, but I, I'm sure they're out there. Right. Uh, before we wrap up too, I want to talk about the cover story in the, uh, latest issue of Lanya, uh, uh, a big story here. What, what, what's, what's it all about? Big, uh, ample story, uh, uh, with, uh, very, uh, you know, it's very perky. Uh, no, uh, it's, uh, the WK Wilson bridge, uh, which no one knows is it's real name is the Dolly Parton bridge. And so we, we kind of, we kind of delved into, or Kyle Tamarix, the writer for us, uh, uh, dove, dove into, uh, wooded WK Wilson's life, you know, how the bridge, uh, became named after him. And then, you know, the impact, you know, especially, I guess in the 80s of, of Dolly Parton and what, what kind of impact that had on, um, on the renaming of, um, the unofficial renaming of the bridge because of the giant, um, uh, mound. How much did you just keep taking the whole? I'm just gonna sit back and eat a little popcorn here on the bridge there. That's all right. Sorry. Uh, yeah. Uh, it's a, it's a good story. Um, everybody should give it a read. And, uh, we were just kind of contemplating on the, on the, on the, uh, podcast yesterday is that if ed, which I think came out today this morning, if, uh, regulating on who could be known for, you know, in the coming years, once everybody who remembers Dolly Parton is dead. Uh, maybe the, the Sydney Sweeney bridge, uh, rename it. Obviously with somebody who is, is also well endowed. There we go. That'll be the next poll. That'll be the next poll question over at laying out mobile.com. Speaking of which, tell folks how to sign up and get subscribed. Yeah. Uh, you can, uh, you can subscribe on the website, laying out mobile.com. You know, it's a dollar for the first month. Uh, the, uh, the, the, uh, the money comes here locally. It's been here locally. We are locally owned and operated media companies to help us out. Uh, you can get copies of the real solid newspaper on newsstands everywhere and just look for the, uh, Dolly Parton mounds on the front. That's what people will be checking out. Dale, thank you, man. We'll talk next week. Thanks, buddy. Appreciate it. All right. There he goes. Coming right back. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 106 five. John Young for mayor and I, this is not a setup, but John Young happens to be joining us here in just about five minutes here on midday mobile. Uh, let's see the, uh, I T Jesus says, uh, we'd like to put in his endorsement for Ricky. Also said, look what you've done, John. Now you've got everyone's moms texting in to put their kids in for the race for mayor. This texter said, uh, from the private sector about what about Elliot Maisel? I think that name, I heard that name a couple times yesterday. I don't know. That's just people speculating. Um, all right, let's see. Duh, duh, duh, duh, duh. Uh, Dale, if you're, uh, Dale Leisha, if you're listening, Matt said it'd be so much nicer if Dale would get off the treadmill for his update. I don't know what dale is my buddy, but I don't know what he's doing with the phone when we're talking. I do not know. Um, our name, texture said, Hey, Sean, if you want to toughen up, toughen the kids up, take away the barricades from the Bienville Square door in Mardi Gras. Those Mobile County Sheriff's Department horses will toughen those kids up. Yes, they will, but there's something like back in the old days, just getting, we need kids to go get dirty, so they have to stand there and their BBDs and get hosed off by mom on the back porch. I think it sets you off to develop as a better human being. All right, so news is next. Be right back. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM talk one oh six five. Right one thirty five FM talk, one of six five midday mobile. I'm glad to have you along on this Thursday. You know what? And people are still texting in here. Like Chris and orange beat said my grandmother put the hose wash on my little butt. Uh, and let's see. Uh, actually, Loostale said, I wish they'd make a candle that smelled like dirt and diesel. Uh, yeah, this is, it's so y'all say a lot of my buddy, John Young, Ben United. I was mentioned earlier, because I got out by my house. You've been in my house. They're they're turning peanuts right now. Right. So that smell of just dirt, just that dirt smell. And I said, you know, I remember that smell obviously on the farm. I also remembered it just as a kid. I would like dig holes and build forts and you'd come in with like you smelled like dirt. And I said, what would happen then? You know, I have similar offerings. What would happen then is I would have to strip down to underwear on the back porch as mother took the hose outside and sprayed me down. I said, maybe that's what's missing. You know, working with today's use is when they feel like they need respect or this or that, they didn't spend the time in their BBDs on the back porch being hosed down by mom to check your ego a little bit. I think you have a point, uh, because now that would be considered abuse, you know, but it was necessary disciplining correction and you weren't going to bring your dirty clothes into the house. You did not cross the threshold of the house with that dirt on you. You were not allowed to because you would then have the mud beating out of the clothes while you were still wearing the clothes. That's right. So you had to do that old, you know, I mean, I can only imagine our faces as kids standing there and your underwear as mom's going, spraying you off. But it's, you know, we're better not complaining. No, but you and I made it. We're both here. We're both here. I was bragging on you the other day saying that we agreed philosophically that if our parents swapped us as children, we turned out to be the exact same because of the family environment, family, education, employment and discipline. Yep. That's what we're lacking. Yep. And I mean, that is that while I'm making a kind of a light gesture about about getting hosed off, but there was there. You and I, I mean, we talked so many times on there, but personally, just the things, the standards that were said, what was acceptable, what was not acceptable, right, in our behavior. And, uh, and you're not neither of us were angels. It's fair to me. That's very fair to me. They're us were angels. So we had to have curbs to keep us in line. And you didn't have a perfect twin brother either. No, you're right. I was, I was about, I was playing catch up most of the time, but boy, I had a good time. I can't take it. I won't take any of it back. But that, I mean, that is the basis of, you know, and we'll, we'll mention, you know, here at home, nine year old shot inside inside the house doing what kids supposed to be able to be inside your house. We have the blood soak melee from Birmingham out there. We have, you know, and people say, well, what can be done? These laws and this enforcement and not taking away from that, but long term, that's not the solution to what's happening here at this culture of violence. It always comes down to the subculture and what is the home teaching as important. If you're teaching family, education, employment and discipline, you have a less likelihood of raising a degenerate child delinquent. If you are emphasizing materialism, this subculture of rap music that's, that's invaded black culture and you glorify guns and you glorify materialism and club, this is the result. We can put people in jail, but until we raise our hands and say it starts in the home and the home must repair itself, we're only going to have more mass shootings, Birmingham, Stapleton. Yeah, Dadeville. I mean, you can put these people in jail, but the next person's off the bench, the culture has to change. And that's what's creating this environment. And to keep denying that, to say that it is a gun, the guns are not inherently violent on their own, they must be activated. I'm wearing one right now. Yeah, be possible as well. Mabel hasn't threatened either of us and she'll remain in her sheath as long as no one tries to harm us. Right. So that it isn't that it's in the hands of immature people, undisciplined brute beast that would just open fire on a group of people and not have a care who you shooting kill. That is a brute beast. That is an urban terrorist. The sooner we put them in jail, deep in jail or another solution, lethal injection wouldn't. And I've reached this point, Sean, that I'm tired of playing nice because this keeps happening. I'm tired of the implied about it. I'm tired of hearing all the excuses. I'm tired of people making it seem as if it's not a common cause behind it, that making it seem as if the suspects and victims are not there, no similarities between them, where they're immobile or stapleton or Tuscaloosa. There's a subculture of gun violence involving black people, especially young black men between the age of 15 and 35. And as the result, society is suffering. We have to say that before we're able to correct it. And the correction is that they are in their violence killing other black people. Exactly, exactly. Why the black people that they're the victims, we talked about this forever, but it's when bringing back up somebody hadn't heard us. Why the black people who are victims, they should be way more important than the perpetrator. This nine year old girl who was shot in the leg inside her home, she matters more to me than the any of the suspects or how the, oh, the plight, oh, racism. Oh, I don't care what your shot at nine year old girl and threatened the lives of teenagers inside the home. Didn't we have a nine year old killed earlier this year? We did. In very similar circumstances. I don't have excuses for violent behavior. I don't make excuses for it. It's wrong. And we need to prosecute, persecute and execute if necessary. I'm sorry to go off like this, but it breaks my heart every time I read the story because the leaders still won't say it. Hey, young black man, we need our fathers to raise you again. This is the biggest issue. We'll say it. I'll say it and you'll agree with me because we don't want you canceled or whatever they do to blue hair people from New York due to people like you and I nowadays. But if someone can disagree with me logically, factually, and prove me wrong, Sean, I'll stop saying it. Yeah, they never have though. No, I've been called names, but name call it. You would have both get called names. Right. That name calling just means that you don't have an argument. But what happened in Birmingham and happened has happened in Mobile and has happened until we're willing to say there's a subculture of violence involving young black men. It will continue happening as long as we ignore the Black Lives Matter effect of a decade of telling an entire generation of young people that it's not your fault. You're not responsible that someone else's fault. You don't have to ever be held accountable. We've told them that for a decade and this behavior is only getting worse. Yeah. And that's what I was saying yesterday, I think, talking about it, I said, or Tuesday show, I said, if you don't do anything different, like I said, like my buddy, John says, if you don't do anything different, how do you expect a different outcome? It would just be more of this. Right. I don't see you incentivize it when you excuse it. You have crime rate is an all time low 30 year low here, but we still had a nine-year-old shot. Yes. So we should. Right. And I do appreciate those changes. We talked about them. We published the stats on them that you'll head out. It's a great thing. But just want that surprise. I would hate to do what you have to do for a living because you do all these things. But then one dirt bag shoots into a house, shoots a nine-year-old, and you have Sullivan on there running his mouth because it because it emotionally affects me. Right. And it should affect all of us. These ABC alphabet organizations should be out in the streets protesting. They should demand that this perpetrator be brought to the justice. They should be in the neighborhoods making just as much noise when a police officer 1000 miles away from here does something because that's what it takes. Those are the people that have the ear. Those are the people that have what they call platforms now and have Facebook. They can reach the people that need to hear it. Go into those neighborhoods just as we have. Go to these places and say we want who did it. And we're going to look for who did it and you will cooperate with police and you will turn them in. That's where it has to come from. It has to come from the church buildings that are in these areas. The civic leaders who you only hear about occasionally they have to. They have the voice. Go out and say let BLM spend some of that $90 million or $6 billion total that they've gotten over the past decade and go into the communities and the neighborhoods and to the houses of these people and emphasize family education and discipline. Of course BLM Wong was founded by which craft practice and Marxists. Yeah, I'm not going to get you put off there. But it infuriates me. It infuriates me that we keep making excuses when we hear an activist talk. They don't talk about the family. They talk about police don't care. White people don't care. No, the family must care first. My father turned 93 this past the 23rd on Monday and called and talked to him and he's not as sharp as he used to be. But he still remembers a son. I remember I had to pick you up and throw you down a couple of times. I hope you don't hold it against me. And you know, no daddy made me who I am. If you had not been a stern on me, I would not be prepared for the life that was awaiting me. And that's what we have to say Sean. And we're not saying it enough, loudly enough or often enough. Every organization that has an ethnicity in its title should be just as alarmed as I am. Right. They should be as angry as I am. That gets down to the root of it. That if this was happened, and I feel this is true, with John and I, if this was an epidemic in the white community, right, you would give a damn if there was white kids getting shot like that. I would be locked arms with ever who was saying like that. Right. Because it's kids. I don't care. But you know what happened in the past 10 years, Black Lives Matter has made everyone apathetic because it endorsed criminal behavior. And now people who aren't ethnically Black are saying, well, I give up. What else do you want me to do? You want me to say I'm a racist then I'm not. How's that going to stop black kids from killing each other? Right. You've you've you've you've donated six billion dollars and you built you bought houses. You didn't do anything. I've cried with you, prayed with you, worn a quiante cloth, kneeled down in a capital building. I've done all these things and black kids are still killing each other. What else could you possibly ask for us to do? And I'm saying it has never been the responsibility of government or white people. It is on the black man in the black family. That's it. That's the only solution. How will Jay why you can't? I can't say it because we know historically and statistically that is the solution. And so we need to promote it to people that have, look, I'm just some fat middle aged guy in Mobile. There are some guys who are making tens of millions of dollars a year that are on national news radio shows and talk shows that should be saying this and they aren't. And give Sean Sullivan and Jay why I talk show on the national platform. Yeah. And we will say the exact same things we're saying now. And we'll also say to you, if you come up to us at lunch, if you come up to if you interrupt us, pay for our lunch, but keep your thank you for your service, get the tab. Okay. There you go. But we'll say the same thing. Drew and I, when he and I go eat lunch, we we hear it all the time. Thank you for what you're doing. You're doing the right thing. I couldn't say it because I'd be racist. There are worse things to be called. Stop being. I've said this when this has come up for me. If I'm not something, then it doesn't it doesn't it does it. It's a random person. Yes. It's a you're you're such I'm like, really? Do you know anything about me? Something random. First, you're not going to kick my butt. Second, your opinion does who are you to me? Right. It doesn't affect me because it does because it doesn't ring true. The thing that stings is if something rings true. Right. And so we we were supposed to talk about this. But we are. But we're going to put your quarter in. You know what happened when you put your quarter in with JY. And we're going to go to news and clean the palate and a little bit and come back about the fish and turkey. Right. Well, let me get this off my chest once and for all. Crime is at a 30 year low in the city and we were here a couple of weeks ago saying, well, Bill, let's take a victory lap. We're proud of ourselves. But these incidents still occur and it is still heinous each time it occurs. The alphabet organizations out there who are receiving funding who have the ear of the people must begin saying, let's get our families in order. They must say that now. And nine year old murdered Earth earlier this year and nine year old shot this month. Fortunately, we've been at 27 house homicides now for the entire month of September. We said we can make it to the end of the year. Still believe it. But the the brute beast urban terrorists that shot into this home with this family and injured the nine year old girl. Everyone should be upset about that and cooperate with police. A hundred percent coming right back. We will maybe still we got time on that quarter in the jukebox for John. But we're going to talk about a fun fishing tournament coming up this weekend as well. It's all straight ahead on the day mobile. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM talk one oh six five right day. A few more minutes with my buddy John Young Ben United against violence which by the way John I was getting these last hour played the talkback message from the app saying John Young for mayor. I'm looking at just just here last few minutes here. Matt says I vote John Young for mayor. Joey says in my opinion you're talking to our new mayor. The only thing better than that is our new president. So on you know I'm on this show yeah on the show. Do you want to make an announcement on this show? Can I can I have the can I have the first dibs on the have the an exclusive announcement. I'm more qualified for president than I am mayor. You know mayor Stimson left some really big shoes to feel whoever it is. They have a you just really improve the city all over and know I have no intentions of running for mayor. I'm flattered that my name came up. Maybe people see things in me that I don't see when I look in the mirror. But we do. Yeah we see leadership. No I'm not a mayor material. I appreciate it. Okay well there's one down but we'll see. We'll see if he didn't say no to president though. I did not say no to president. All right good. And I'll debate those two at the same time. Yeah I know. This teacher says man I love John Young a man we're all desperate for discipline family structure in Christ. All of us. That's it. I mean it's like I mean and people will say that and we'll get to the fishing tournament. But people will say well how do you expect that's that's going to be very hard to change what's happened over you know decades here culturally you know in black communities and all that. The jobs like my son's sitting right back there. Probably walk up here and tell you if I go oh the job's hard then that means that's the one we're probably supposed to do. That's right. I mean. That's the one you're supposed to build America by doing hard work and providing for their family that that is the only formula that has worked and we know it will again. We've been deceived by evil people with blue hair from New York trying to tell us in their 20 years of life what the new formula should be. They've gone against God. They've gone against our country. They've gone against our Constitution. They've gone against the family. We should disregard anything they have to say. Yeah because if it had borne fruit and everything was great then they said well look we did this but it hasn't. It has not. If we're going to work after trillions of dollars being spent it would have worked. The only thing we know that has worked historically and statistically is the family. Well said. I want to talk about tournament coming up involving two things alike is helping out law enforcement and if you probably if y'all didn't know this about me I like to go fishing as well. I heard a rumor. Yeah a rumor about that so you get a benefit fishing tournament coming up this weekend. But no it's been canceled because of the storm. Oh you've moved it. Yeah November 2nd. Okay that happened yesterday so because of the. So we got taught. Okay so if people are made plans for you know the fishing gets better actually in November because he got redfish flounder speckle trout. Right. All that's getting better. We get a couple cold fronts. Right. So who's this for? It is for a police officer. I've known Hugh Thomas cue ball barns for 32 or 33 years. We started together in Prichard where he got his name cue ball. He's a white guy working in a predominantly black city. Someone named MacArthur white called him cue ball. He did like a cue ball going through there but he has diabetes and an infection set in. They've cut off two toes off his right foot called half his thigh off his left leg and a lot of his forearm. He's been out of work now for two months. So we're just raising money for our brother. Yeah because we care about him and we want to make sure that he's provided for so the corroded cowboys. It's a police owned business. Two of our police officers on it. They make fishing weights, fishing lures. They got together with some great sponsors and said hey look let's do something for cue ball. So there's a first place prize for those three categories red fish speckle trout and black drama. I expect you to take first place in all of them. Okay I can tell you can the tickets can be purchased at a fishing chaos app. They've been one of the big sponsors. There's raffle prizes that have been provided. Also by Matt Green, empty lingerie, dean weight, stone arms. Everyone kicked in. When we called and said bankboys. When we called and said we're trying to help a police officer. They only said what can I do? Yeah. Not how much. What can I do? So we also have raffle tickets available. Everyone knows how to get in contact with me through you. Yes. We'll get those tickets. I'll deliver them to you and we're trying to raise at least twenty thousand dollars to help Barnes because he's going to be out at least through the year. And if you've ever met cue Barnes, he's one of the one of the funniest personalities you'll meet in law enforcement. I like the word personality. He tells me I'm not going to get you kicked off the air. But he is. But he is. Anybody, anything anyone can do to help out if you can't fish a tournament. You can even shore fish a saltwater. You can fish from the and we're meeting at the gas station off the door. Yeah. CNN's bait and tackle. Yeah. Everyone should know where that is. Mr. Mobile will be there offering his support. Will you be doing autographs? For whatever is worth sure. Okay. Very good. What's again? So fishing chaos app, if you'll go, if you just, wherever you get your app store, if you go to a Google play for an android person, just look for fishing chaos, local company, even though they do tournaments all over the country, Cali as boys is good stuff. So get on the fishing chaos app. I can put that link up, get your tickets November 2nd, November 2nd, same times at eight a.m. to five p.m. Because of the storm. And so you Alabama fans don't have any excuse now because they're playing Georgia. I was going to come out when the tournament then go home and watch the game. That's the spirit. And that's just get business done. And when the tournament then go on, watch the tide roll. I think they're going to roll over Georgia. I want to say it, but I'm superstitious about this stuff. Well, since I'm not an Alabama fan, here is why. They have not dropped off. I thought there would be a decline between coaching cultures. I didn't think I even explained to you. They look very close to the same and Georgia does not. So that's on the outside looking in. I'm neither an Alabama Auburn or Georgia fan. I think they're going to beat Georgia like a drum. This is I. Well, I lose the way to buffet. You couldn't. You could not do half an hour without a lizzo bed. John Young, everybody men United against violence, but these tournament will put the information up on our Facebook page as well. November 2nd, but get signed up over at fishing chaos and Paul Finebaum will talk football and maybe give us his take on Bama Georgia when he comes back here in about two minutes. Good job. Roll time. Roll time. [Music]
