The A's said goodbye to the City of Oakland this afternoon, in their final home game of the season, the A's defeated the Rangers 3-2 at the Oakland Coliseum. That was courtesy of NBC Sports California, in April the A's announced that they will play at least the next three seasons at the home of the AAA Sacramento Rivercats before their planned relocation to Las Vegas. The A's have called the Coliseum home since 1968, winning four World Series during their time in Oakland. In other baseball news, both the Tigers and Royals moved closer to clinching postseason spots today. Detroit won for their fifth straight game, coming back to defeat the Rays 4-3. The Tigers were down 3-0 after five innings, but scored two runs in the sixth to cut the lead to just one. In the eighth, Detroit tied it on a Colt Keith single before taking the lead on this sacrifice fly. That was courtesy of Valley Sports Detroit, and the Royals won their third straight by beating the national 7-4, both the Tigers and Royals remain tied for the second of three wild card spots, and their magic numbers are two, the clinching postseason birth. In college sports, seven members of the Mountain West signed commitments to the conference today, pledging to remain in the league and agreeing to execute a grant of media rights from 2026 to 2032. The seven schools are Air Force Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, Wyoming, and UNLV. The news comes as five schools, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Utah State, and San Diego State. Well, head to the PAC-12 starting in 2026.
