Been in, I think most of the week. If not all of the week, this week. - Every day of a Monday. - Hangin' out with us as Chris Ello, except for Monday. Is that what you said? - Every day of a Monday. - Yeah, so he's been here pretty much all week. Sitting in while Chris Ello is enjoying his vacation. Padres go down in game two. Another, you know, well played game. Both sides. This time, the Padres were chasing. They answered a couple times. They could not answer the last one. And they fall back to three games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers going into this third and final game. Padres will have No No Joe on the mound. Walker Bueller on the other side. And gentlemen, Padres lost a tough one yesterday. But, and they lost a tough one. I mean, they lost a lot of the Dodgers. But the Diamondbacks also won yesterday. We obviously know the Braves and Mets have been, their two games have been basically canceled. They're postponed until the day after the break. But, yeah, man, Padres, they go down after a nice little fight there. - I am personally very upset that they don't control their own destiny anymore, which is the truth. - You lose a sleep over that now? - Yeah, I am losing sleep over it, because we were in such a good place, but that is the truth. They don't control their own destiny anymore. If they want to win the division, a lot of things have to go their way. - In terms of what? - And winning the division, I mean. - Okay, yeah. There you go, yeah. So they don't control winning the division anymore, yes. It was already kind of a pipe dream anyway, we talked about it on Monday. But, you know, they're magic numbers too, to get to 4c. I think that's the most pressing matter at this point in time for the San Diego Padres. You know, it was gonna be tough to win the division anyway. Hard fought game yesterday. But, you know, walks, Tony, can't stop a walk. Last night, a couple of walks came around the score. One of those games that, you know, just baseball last night. And if you look at it, you know, last night's game was like the same game as Tuesday night's game, just flipped reversal. Where the Dodgers were scoring with two outs and the Padres, like the Padres were on Tuesday, Padres unable to do that. They did answer almost every single time, which is really good to see. But, you know, Dodgers took advantage of a couple of Padres mistakes. Padres unable to do that every single time. And the Dodgers had a nice victory over the Padres. But right now, gotta be able to win tonight. Make sure the Dodgers have to celebrate on the road. Don't let them celebrate a division championship in front of you. - Yeah, no, there's no doubt about it. You're 100% right on the, for the most important thing, I think at this point is securing that home field advantage for the wild car around, for sure. And so that's, I think that'll be their focus. I think they wanted to win division. I think they still probably believe they could win the division. It's just gonna take, you're gonna have to get some help down the line if that's going to be the case. And you know what? They're gonna need help regardless, you know, 'cause they could have swept this series and it still would be, you know, at that point, Padres having to sweep the next series in order for it to be a thing, as the Dodgers would go to Colorado. I think, you know, in terms of the walks, you know, when you go back to that kind of stretch where the Padres have played like 500, I think they played the exact, I mean, we had five and five in the 10 games. That was usually at the crux of it, right? I mean, it was like maybe an error or walks. And not egregious walks. I mean, somebody could have walked two guys, but those particular two walks would come in to score and would make the difference in the game. And last night was one of those. Cease wasn't like magnificent, but he was still pretty good when it was all said and done. But, you know, a couple walks come back to get him. Same thing in the bullpen. And so, you know, I think the Padres, they're still in a good spot, you know, just got to go out. As you said, nobody wants to see the Dodgers celebrate in front of them. I'm sure those guys are very much aware of that. - The one thing I, and I thought this last night, and so I couldn't wait to ask you, Tony, but why not walk Otani anytime he has someone with a run in scoring position? Or anytime he really has anyone on the basis. He's the hottest hitter on the planet right now, and I'm not criticizing them for pitching to Otani, but I thought maybe you give him his first up bat and see what he does, but then you walk him as situation allows, but I don't know. He's just so good. You know that he's going to do something to hurt your team. - I mean, the whole point of boarding home being in there is just for that matchup. You know, it's part of the reason he's in there. Left on left, and, you know, you're walking with the bases loaded at that point to face a right-handed Bookey bets. It just doesn't make a ton of sense. Even if Otani is as hot as is, you're in that spot. You put yourself in that spot a little bit, right? And so you end up having to pay the consequences. You know, that's why having the lineup constructed the way it is is important, you know, and it just puts you in a difficult spot. You got to pick your poison. We saw it working against AJ Hintz, playing against the Padres, right? He elected to walk Louisa Rise to face Totti, and he got burned by it. It does happen with some of the best in the game. It's kind of part of the cost to doing business. Yeah, I mean, but I think ultimately you had the matchup that you, you know, had anticipated. - Yeah, I mean, pick your poison as Tony said. You got three MVPs at the top of the order. I mean, it's somebody, you're gonna have to face somebody, right? And, you know, do I necessarily love the Morahone verse, verse of Totti matchup? Not really, but he's your lefty. I mean, that's the guy you bring in. You can't use Tanner Scott every single time. You know, he had to kind of clean up a little bit of a mess with the walks, you know, prior to that, you know, a lot of those in that inning with two outs. I mean, you get one of their bottom half guys up. I mean, are out, you're out of the inning unscathed. You know, you have to worry about it, but unfortunately you give up, you know, a little bit of a rally there with two outs. And, you know, the Dodgers were, they had that same problem on Tuesday, as I mentioned before. I mean, the Padres took advantage of scoring runs with two outs. That's gonna happen in Major League Baseball. So overall, I mean, it's, it's, it's not like the Padres just shot themselves in the foot and didn't show up to play. And, you know, I saw some people, I mean, regardless of what the game was gonna be like, you know, some people are gonna be like, yep, see, told you that partied too hard in the, in the dugout that I before. It's, I mean, there was nothing last night where I was sitting there going like, man, they partied so hard that they couldn't win against the Dodgers. I mean, they answered every single time, except for the last time they kind of ran out of innings. But even some of the shots that they had, you know, late in the game were, were hard hit balls, just right at people. So it is what it is. I mean, to, to ask the Padres to go out there and sweep the Dodgers in LA and then sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks in Arizona was gonna be a hard ask. And that's why, you know, as much as you want to say that, not you guys, but you know, the narrative always at the beginning of the season as it's early and these games don't matter as much. I mean, you could look back at the Padres getting swept by the Angels, you know, early in the year, getting swept by the Rockies. I mean, not getting a win here and there. And, and a lot of those, I mean, the other thing too, is a lot of the, I'm gonna talk out of both sides of my mouth right now. But a lot of those situations are just baseball in general. Right, Tony? I mean, you're gonna have games that you, you know, blow leads, everybody blows huge leads in baseball throughout the year. I mean, we've seen almost every team do it. We've seen the Padres come back from big lead, you know, from big deficits to win games. So, you know, some of that's part of baseball, but you could start looking back at some of the games that, you know, it's not just one, it's not just one game that cost them potentially to division this week. There's, there's a lot of different things that they could look at throughout the year, you know, and to me that the ones that come to mind are, you know, they're not taking care of business against some teams in baseball that they probably could have got a win out of. There's one that sticks out of my mind. And some sweeps with losing the angels in three and losing the losses. This conversation is kind of pointless because ultimately, all of those, all of those losses that you guys are talking about, you know, that, you know, we can go back to, led to them becoming the team that they are right now. Without those type of losses and learning from those type of situations where you, there's a certain way you got to come out against the angels or a certain way you got a, that's a, a team learned thing. And what you got was after the first game in that Cleveland series was the team that would learn how to put the foot on the pedal when they need to, or how to be able to execute like, all of that stuff kind of culminated into what the team they are now. And so, you know, yes, you can point back to those, those, those losses and be like, man, they should have done that. But they are, they weren't capable in that moment at that time to be able to take care of business like they are now. And that's why they're not going to win the division. And it, maybe so. I mean, that's, but that's, but that's the case, right? I mean, if you want to sit there and, and a lot of fan, I'm not saying you, Tony, but if you're going to sit there as fans and be like, we're so close to winning the division. I mean, those, those are the games that matter at the end of the day. And that's the difference between the Dodgers potentially winning the division this year and the Padres not or is, is being able to handle those games. But I agree, I think, I think you, you do learn from a lot of those, obviously, and, and, and makes you better for this long run. So I think at the end of the day, when you look at it, you know what, they might not win the division, but Tony, does it really, you know, aside from just kind of a personal accolade and it's kind of cool. And this day and age of baseball, does it really even matter? It does. I think it's still a standpoint of, not only forget, not only just the, the elements of the playoffs, but, you know, what that is for the organization. I mean, the Dodgers, the Dodgers, not because they are winning World Series, because they haven't done that. The, the Dodgers, because they keep winning division titles. And when you keep doing that, we talk about the Braves, the way we talk about, not because they were winning World Series. We talk about them because they're still a prestige around dominating your division into which way they have. And so I think the, it's, it's not necessary for you to, to win a World Series. I think we know that, but I think if you are trying to build a, a long lasting, you know, successful organization, winning a division is part of it. Now that's irrelevant. If they don't end up winning it this year, it doesn't mean that they can't go on to win a title and, and, and start to do those things. But I, I just look at this as another step, right? Like, Padres have really never been that close to winning a division. I mean, the fact that they are taking the steps now where we're talking about with the last four, five games, four games left in the season, we're talking about the positive division. These are steps in the right direction. The success they've seen in the last, you know, four years are all steps moving in a direction in which you want to see an organization move when they haven't had that kind of success. So, yeah, no, for the ones who are like hung up on, on winning a division. Yes, you know, this, this is kind of the, the nuts and bolts of it. Like you got to be able to do it, you know, do it for sustained a period of time. But if you take a kind of a larger view of this, these are all steps in, in, in a direction that you want this organization to be going in order for it to have long-term success. I agree, Tony. There's only one loss that sticks out of my mind, though. And I'm not saying that if they won this game, they're going to win the division. It's supposed to be missed by one game. Then I guess you could, you could point back to it. But it would be the loss in Colorado when Juan de Peralta went out there and gave up a bunch of runs early in the season. And everybody thought that the year was over at that point. But that loss does sting. And there are plenty of losses throughout the season. Those, those happen all the time. No, you were going to say that. Scrabie is one of these people that is hung up on this division. I'm not hung up on the division. That's the only reason why I just would sting. So then why does it sting? What does it sting for? Because that was the game that you had in the bag and you let it go. I think you were up by 25 runs in that game. Let me ask you this, Tony. You got to get 27 outs in order to have a game in your bag. How many of those games, Tony, in your career, did you lose? Probably what, multiple a year? What do you mean? Like just games that you felt like you had to go in your bag. You had in the bag and then it just-- I mean, that happens in baseball all the time. For sure, for sure, for sure. If not, I mean, there'd be a lot of like high 100 win seasons. If those games didn't happen a whole lot, you know what I'm just saying? Like, that's part of it. As you said, baseball. Baseball. Baseball, I think, is any else to say? Yeah. All right, break time. I can't communicate with Tony. You just have to do the break thing on the video. Yeah, all right. Let's get to break more win and Chris on the other side. Padres, once again, back in action. It's a night game tonight. So we'll talk a little bit about that a little bit about the rest of the races. White Sox, how are they impacted? You think of yourself, man, they got 120 laws. How could they possibly impact anything? Well, we'll explain on the other side. More win and Chris. I did see it. Where's he at now? Boston. He's throwing tea into the harbor. No, he was there for the Boston Tea Party. He's going back to the scene of the crime, I see. He's throwing the tea into the harbor. The three set tax was too much for Chris. Yeah, Chris was definitely angry. Did he meet with the founding fathers, too? Was he in Philadelphia in 1776? Guys, guys, he was there to sign the declaration of it. So that's right. That's his little wig on. Back to the scene of the crime right through the tea into the harbor. I love it. Yeah. Yes, so real quick, the wild card since we are talking about a little bit of baseball here. Arizona got a little bit closer. Braves, Mets, Stud, Pat, on the American League side. I didn't even see what the American League side was. Where were we at on that side? That is rough. I mean, that is a tight race. It's just as tight as the National League. Tony, I mean, the wild card is a, it's got more traffic than Los Angeles does right now. Well, I can tell you this, the White Sox, you're probably wondering, like, what in the world can the White Sox have to do with any of this? They got 120 losses. Well, I'll tell you, White Sox will be facing Detroit Tigers who are one of the teams that are competing for this last spot. Grady Sizemore has decided to hold back Garrett Crochet. He's going to push his start back so that he is going to face the Detroit Tigers. Now, I like this on so many levels. First of all, they've won two straight, which is part of the reason why Ron Washington got himself three straight now, which is part of the reason why Ron Washington got himself into trouble a little bit. We'll get to that a little bit later on in the show, but the cool part about this is just talking to some of the folks in the White Sox front office when they were in town. You get the sense that there is some momentum building around Grady Sizemore and their intention on what could happen after the season. I bring that up because this move to me is another clubhouse move. I don't care that we got 120 losses. Let's see if we can run the table. If they run the table, they could stiff-arm history. I think it would be a good story to end the season. I'm going to say it would be a great story because the amount of beatdown you had to take to get to this point is something only one other team has experienced. But if they could pull it off and not have this happen, not set this record when you are doing things that I think promote winning in a way that this organization hasn't seen in a boatload of time. It's not to say anything bad about the previous manager because I don't know honestly if he had a legitimate chance from the moment he walked in with the kind of characters they had to move out around that way because it just seems like everybody else comes out and has something to say about how bad it was. That takes a long time to kind of remove and I think these type of moves help kind of change the mindset of a team that has kind of been marred in this. What is this? This is below mediocrity. This is just terribleness. It's awful. It's Charles Barkley. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Just for the sake of context there, Tony, I mean obviously I love the change of the mindset there for the White Sox. They go after the Tigers this week and make them earn a playoff spot because the Tigers have won nine in the last 10, five in a row. But as the American League wild card standings show right now, Baltimore is the top spot like the Padres plus three and a half in the game category over the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals who are both tied in the standings with a two and a half game lead on the twins. Mariners got eliminated today. So there's three teams battling for two spots just like in the National League with three teams battling for two spots. The only difference is instead of the twins being a game out like the Braves, they're two and a half back. So in one way, if the White Sox take down the Tigers, they're going to help the twins or if they get beat up by the Tigers, then they're not helping the twins. So they're going to stick it and help one of their division rifles at one point in time during this weekend. I don't even, I don't even care if they lose. I just love the idea of like, listen, we're not just going to roll over coming in the town. Yeah, that's great. We're going to actually, we're going to actually play. Go ahead, Adam. Well, I'm just curious your perspective on this Tony. There was recently a really nice in depth article about the dysfunction behind the scenes of the White Sox in the athletic and in ESPN.com wrote an article. There's been reporting for years and years about Jerry Reinsdorf, the owner and his hesitance is probably too weak of a word. To go outside of the organization when it comes to personnel changes, they've made the changes with Kenny Williams. And now that they've had another jam and they always promote from within, there was a lot of controversy when he hired Tony LaRouza without doing any outside searching. But obviously, Grady Sizemore is having some success there. And so I'm wondering if you think that giving Sizemore the full time job would kind of satisfy the critics who believe that he and they've actually said that they're going to do some outside searching. But with that like nullified if they kind of promote from within, again, despite the fact that he's actually had some success. I think if you're chasing that in terms of the critics that have some to say, you're going to forever be chasing that. Because there's going to be some people, even though Grady Sizemore was a White Sox for a brief second. If anything, a Guardian would be the team that he would be coming back to, there's still going to be people say, "Oh, he didn't go outside. Grady Sizemore was in the organization when it started." No, man, if the team is responding the way that they seeming them, is that 20 straight series, they lost. And then he comes along and he came a little bit long before they actually won that first series. But he comes along and he's presenting something different in that locker room clearly because they're playing better. They competed against the Padres. I mean, those weren't blowout games. No, the Padres had to come back in them. Exactly. I think this is a team that is at least showing some signs of life. And I just love the fact that even though your team has been getting beat up, you're trying to show them another way right now. I think that is exactly how the White Sox should think about Grady Sizemore. Is look at what happened to this team once he started taking over. It seems like a different mindset. It seems like a different mentality in that clubhouse. And you have to pay attention to that. You can't not think that what he's doing now is not going to carry over to the next year. It will carry over to the next year. And I'm not saying that he's like the savior. Like he's going to come in here and this is a guarantee. But it's just something different. And it's different than anything you've brought in prior. White Sox have been, as you said, a team that took care of his own. They always hired her. And for a long time, the guys they brought in were good. They were legit. And you know, I just think the last two times, the last two jobs, right, that the last two, or just say the last manager, I don't think he was set up to have any success. I mean, he took over it. That team, when they had still a ton of roster mix that didn't mix well clearly. All of the things that we heard coming out of there. And so that takes time to get rid of all that. And unfortunately, usually the manager that's there when that stuff is going on is not the one that survives. Well, it seemed like they clearly stopped listening to what was that Pedro Grafold? Were they ever listening to him? I don't know. I don't know. Did he ever have a chance at succeeding in this job? That was my point, as I don't think he did. And I think at least, you know, with the new, with gets coming in there as a GM, I think at least they are making moves so far. And it might take a little bit, but we're going to continue to try to move this in the right direction. And it's going to take a lot more than just a great size. We're coming in and changing it. I mean, that's going to start from like the organization roots. You're going to need some money invested into this whole thing. You know, Jerry definitely has money. He tested it. And then he bought the problem. Yeah, I mean, we moved on from that. I have one thing for you, Tony. I know we're delayed, so I'm just going to go for it. But I have one thing I want to get, ask you, and that's about the perfect game last night that the Reds bunted in to break up a Guardian's perfect game. Now, to me, this is not a problem whatsoever. But to the internet, this might be one of the worst things that's ever happened in the history of the Earth. What do you think? I mean, I try not to participate in internet games and conversations because they oftentimes are fruitless. This one is talking to a wall. This is this is another one of those. I mean, I hope I hope none of those folks are pottery. I know we're saying that because, you know, I remember a time where my man Ben Davis dropped. There he is on the chat. And I indeed agreed with it then. This is man, you know, I really want to say is, believe your perfect game. Man, I'm not here for your perfect game. I'm playing against you. And not to mention, it's a close game. Like, it'd be different if it was like eight nothing. No, the game is out of hand. This bun isn't going to do anything at you. Yeah, Ben. Yeah, Ben. We're going to Ben just ran in here and scream to next bleep. You must agree with it. Bleep your perfect game, man. I'm sorry, like, you're sorry. I suppose it just lets you get the perfect game. I mean, I mean, from a from a baseball, you're coming up in the lineup, right? It's a two nothing game. You haven't been able to get good swings on this guy. I haven't been able to put the ball in play. Got an opportunity to see a bunt might be open. Aren't you going to try to get get yourself on base and, you know, bring the tying run to the plate? Let me say you said for eight innings, you've told me that I can't do what I want to do against you. So I got to figure out another way, right? You know, swinging the bat has clearly not worked to this point so much so that you have a perfect game right now. So I got I got to do something different. For me personally, it was part of my game. So I would hope that if I came up in a two nothing game and you had been perfect that you were almost expecting that I might drop a bun here. So yeah, man, it's a whole lot to do about now. I don't know that I have even heard from the actual team that has it was involved with it has just been more people on the outside looking in commenting on what they think should happen. That's why it's so hard to throw a perfect game situations like that. Yes, you bunt and you you break the unwritten rules of baseball the first time we ever talked about it's not an unwritten rule. It's not even an unwritten rule. So I don't even know what they're talking about. The first time I remember us getting into a debate over the internet being more angry than the actual team was when, was it Urania who threw it Ronald Acuna Jr like years and years and years ago and people were asking to charge him with a crime. You know what I really realized later is that they were all Braves fans that were asking for him to be charged. Just like, Okay, that makes sense a little bit. I don't know what you asked. Well, Tony asked who's upset the Cleveland Guardians tweeted breaking up a perfect game through six innings on a bunt Kentucky Reds behavior. Well, that's what the social media person talking about a guy that doesn't know ball running that account. Don't know ball. I want people so upset by this. It's like, you know what, if you know, if you if you don't like it, play better, stop it. Adam, if you could, if you could convince me that, uh, I was you just asked who was upset. So I, no, no, I'm saying if you could convince me that Ramirez went up there on the on the Twitter account and posted that. All right, then I might, I might, I might. I heard it was Josh Miller. So just because the opposing picture has a perfect game means all of a sudden I can't play certain ways in baseball. Like I can't. So now, so now buns are outlawed in the game because you have a perfect game and therefore I have to roll over and die and let you win because it hurts your feelings. If I try to break up your perfect game, what some uncompetitive players, right? Some uncompetitive fans right there. This is this conversation. It's crazy work. If this happened to Braden though, he would be angry. I'd be like, I'd be like, get the job, though. That happens all the time, coaching football, just things that have, you know how many times like trying to get, you know, with the some of the backup kids in that are trying to preserve a shutout and they give up a big play. It happens. You know what? It's all right. So let's ask Tony this. Clearly he doesn't, um, think this, he thinks this is this unwritten rules much and do much to do about it. It's not an unwritten rule. Please stop saying that it was not. Are there other rules you do observe stealing bases, latent games in a blowout game, stuff like that that you think are legit? Yeah, I think that there are consequences to those. Now, if you're prepared to face those consequences, all good. And you know, you keep it moving. But, uh, that is the, the essence of the game is competing. The issue with some of those ones that you're talking about are that you kind of brought up with the stealing stuff. That becomes about your individual numbers. That's, that's no longer, yes, you in essence are helping your team, but your team doesn't need help in the situations that can get you in trouble, right? You, you're already dominating the game. Whereas this one, it is a close game. This is about winning and wins and losses at this point. I'm trying to help get our team back in a position to at least tie this game. I get on base. Guess what? A homer ties the game. The, the homer ties the game. So, um, you know, I think, I think this is, uh, this is sour grapes on. I have proof that Braden would have been mad because Johnny on the chat says, wow, you mean my friend Johnny that's trying to troll us right now. When I subbed on a team and then beat his team, see, I, I played softball, Brad. He's very serious about the rules that, that when you're not on the roster and you play, that's against the rules. And you know, and Johnny, and you know what Johnny said? He said, oh, yeah, totally against the rules. And you know what I didn't do? I didn't complain to the league, man. The league directors. I'm like, all right, whatever. No, you lost my one and then the league director, Ryan at the power sports bloke said, I was waiting for somebody to call him out. And I would have said they were invalid from winning a championship. You know, I didn't see how to play it on the field. Scravey got to play it on the field. He felt some way and still, that's right, played the way it's supposed to go. That's right. They, they tried, they tried to cheat us and that you know what, you got to try to beat, they did. They cheated us to try to beat the best. It's all right. We didn't have to do that, Tony. He breaks still, still salty. Well, that's because Johnny's just being a troll. That's the other reason why Johnny's just trying to shed light. I need to show up my 30 sports blokes t-shirts, Johnny. Come on now. Let's get to, let's, let's get to break where this show gets further off the rails. Sam Levitt will join us next. He's been behind the scenes over the last couple of days. I haven't really heard, got a chance to speak to him about the, the, the clench day. He was involved in the, I saw his face all over the internet. So, we'll get to that on the other side more going in. You sit in traffic now, but later, there's a nice cold reward. Mandela, the mark of a fight. Gwen and Chris, Gwen in Los Angeles, Brains of Pranette, Matt Scravey, Adam Cluke here in San Diego. And also our guy, Sammy Lev, back with us from his makeshift broadcasting room at Dodger Stadium. Sam, how are you doing today? Thank you for joining us today. I wouldn't call it makeshift. I mean, it's a level lower than the main booth upstairs. Now, it's funny because now that I'm on YouTube, I don't know that I ever was on YouTube before this series in LA. And when you look at it from this angle, for those of you watching on YouTube, yeah, it looks like a shack. Got an outhouse up there, Sam? The view of the ballpark of the field is great. It's a great view. I mean, you're straight on. It's a great broadcast view. So, just ignore the piping in the background. But hey, they set me up nice here. They really do. Yeah, I was going to say it's kind of tough to convince us that it's not a makeshift spot when you got wood, kind of like plywood just kind of put up on the side there. But I'm glad that I'm glad the view is nice for sure. Sam, obviously the Padres, you know, oh, you know what I took completely forgot to bring Oscar on. Oh, yes. Well, he's now he's now cursing your name up in the Camp Pendleton. So, good for you. My fault, Oscar, I totally meant to bring you on there, but I was only going to bring you on. Oscar was a caller. He was a caller. And he wanted to talk about, you know, if the Padres were basically, I'm paraphrasing here, we're serious about the division. They wouldn't have partied so hard the night before. And I was just gonna, I wanted to ask him, you know, what would he have pointed to yesterday that indicated that there was some after effect of partying too hard, if you will, and I'm joking. There was no ill effect from the night before. I wouldn't even, it's, here's the tough part, right? I think there may be, I mean, there's certainly guys who are, you know, having a beer, drinking, you know, but it's not how it is actually presented. Most of it is literally being, I would say 90, 85% of it is being used to spray on top of it. And I know the, the idea is that, oh, okay, if they're getting the spray on, man, they, they have to be like chugging this stuff down, like, and just absorbing it through their skin. Well, I mean, not even if you're thinking they're absorbing it through, like, they have to be like wanting to partake and drink. And, and I certainly know that there certainly guys had a beer or two, but it wasn't as though they were like partying in the sense of drinking partying. They were more partying using that alcohol to kind of spray on one another. You know what I'm saying? Sam, you were down there, yes, that, that day. I think that is the perception everybody has for those who are even, unless I know the large majority of folks out there are not thinking to themselves, oh, man, they lost that game yesterday because they were out there partying. But for those who may be caught up on that, you were kind of down there. How would you explain it? Yeah, I wouldn't say there was a, a lot of consumption that I saw going on. There was a lot of spraying. There was a lot of, of liquid on the floor. And you could kind of feel it in there the next day too. Your shoes were, were sort of sticking to the ground a little bit. Sticking, stickier than a floor in a courthouse. Yeah, I didn't find yesterday that it smelled, but you did have the little stick for sure. But hey, I mean, look, was there anything in the game last night? Like you said, that would indicate that, you know, there were any ill effects of partying too hard the night before. I don't think so. They lost the game yesterday because of walks. They lost because they couldn't get a big hit late. And look, they answered the Dodgers a number of times last night. They couldn't find the final answer. And that's going to happen. This Dodger team is 194 games. I mean, I know we all had dreams of them coming in here and sweeping and look even here tonight. You'd love them to get a win and avoid having the Dodgers celebrate the division title in front of them here tonight. Stay alive. It's still a tall order as you head to Arizona, even if you win tonight. But no, I I didn't think there were any any signs of, you know, partying too hard on on Tuesday and I didn't and look. And I think Tony, you were with me just well, you were there inside the clubhouse, but also with me in this sense, I would imagine. Hey, you got to celebrate these things like, you know, and some people were talking about that even before they clinched on Tuesday, like, Oh, well, you know, maybe they'll just toast with champagne glasses. I was like, they're not going to just say any plus games. It's been a wonderful second half. You guys up. Yeah, we we we, you know, I listen, I love, I love where the Padres are at and where they're where they're going. But let's not get it twisted. Like, we ain't one enough to be toasting, you know, to to whatever level, like, you got to set their Dodgers and they could do that. They've they've won the division. How many times consecutively? I mean, it's it's they can afford to give up one of their celebrations. They've done it. They've done enough times. We can't until we get to that point where we can like, honestly, look ourselves at a mirror and say, you know what, man, we we've been here so many times, man, let's just let's just toast. We shouldn't even it's like a baby's first birthday. You can't do the first birthday without smashing the cake. You have to. It's just like a lot. It's an unwritten rule that you have to. I don't know about that. I don't know about that. You've never heard of that? The first birthday. What are the kids like? How does it connect them? I don't know. Because they're they they are celebrating. It's just something you have to do. You should have put up. You're you're getting perfect games right now. I should have dropped them. You have a child. I don't but I have nieces. Oh, and I've been to their first birthday and they smashed the cake. I want to know. I want to see this unwritten rule book that Scrabies got. Scrabies unwritten rules. Can I? Can I? I almost texted Scrabies before I came here because I was listening to the first segment and I actually I wrote out the text. I won't actually look if it's still here. It's not there. I wrote out the text that didn't send it. I said, Scrabie, I'm gonna cook you when I go. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. About what? You're gonna get kids say cooked by Sam Levitt. I love it. Because I got I got two things. I got two things. Yesterday, if I remember correctly, Scrabie gets on after they clench. They have this wonderful night and correct me if I'm wrong. He had concerned yesterday about Michael King giving up the early run King who's arguably been their best pitcher. That was his focus in the first segment. And then today, Scrabie Scrabie all bent out of shape that that they don't control their own destiny anymore, which is true, which is true. I get it, but it's like, you know what? Look, it was gonna be a tall order this whole time. Oh, man, I feel like this is a this is a there were two. I heard I heard both segments the last two days on my drive from West Hollywood to Dodger Stadium. You got four hours in driving in both times. That's a whole show. Scrabie. I hear Tony, like, you know, sighing as he goes. Okay. Hold on. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. So much. Nashville destroys Scrabie Day live in the air right now. Oh, my God. I'm holding the horse out of his out of his covering his face. You just got shredded. I did not get shredded. I did not get shredded shredded. Brings are starting trying to start stuff over there. Shredded and great. We got anything else. Get the other right. No, Britain can't be great. We have a gripe segment. This is the Sammy Gripe segment about. He's gravy little talking. He's good. Good. Good. Good. It's like talking to my brother. Go ahead. I was just presenting a lot of the things that people were saying on social media. I don't know if you guys know this. But sometimes in radio, someone has to take the sign that no one wants to hear. But you know what Scrabie, you know why you do that so well. Thank God you're taking the believe it. It's right. I believe it. And the reason I ask those questions is because I thought those were questions that were festering in the traffic of San Diego or wherever people were listening. And because you believe, and because you believe it, which is great. That's good radio. It's fantastic. It's fantastic. I'm all about good. And by the way, Scrabie, I just think about those two moments. My face hurts from laughing so much. I'm gonna actually cover up Sam on the screen. Scrabie. No, wait, we're Sam go. Oh, no. Scrabie, you know what's funny is that that is the, that is what, you know, that's what we supposed, that's what you're supposed to have listened to. That feeling as someone driving a car, somebody like, what in the world is this dude talking about? Sam said it for four hours on his commute yesterday. Well, the thing about when I heard you talking about King, because I thought it was like a super gutsy performance for Michael King after giving up an under and run. And I'm like, oh, I'm like, well, okay, I guess maybe there's a little concern. And then I actually think Scrabie, your point today about not having control of your own destiny, I think is is the more fair point, not that the Padres didn't anything wrong. They lost the one run game yesterday. But hey, it's true. If they wanted to win the division, not that it's over, their best shot to do it was to come in here and sweet and how they don't have control of that. And I think that's the end of the world. But yeah, I think that's what Braden was getting at, right? Like for those folks that are going to complain about, you know, the Padres and I have in the division. Well, you got it. You got it. In order to do those type of things, you got to do big things like coming here and sweeping. As you said, it doesn't mean that it's going to be impossible. But it was already an uphill climb. It got a little steeper after the fire lost last night for sure. I think Scrabie is going to call Dave Marcus, who's going to then set up to have somebody lock this lock. Nobody is waiting for the outro music more than Matt Scrabie is right now. Keeps looking at the clock. Waiting for Adam to bail him out with the music. And you know what? Why did Adam put his toes, told Jackie? He just could not. He's turning rather than a tomato. The last maybe week, I cannot get it right with the listeners. Like, I will say something that they have accused me of not being which is critical. It's supposed to make the listeners, you know, it's supposed to feel something. Hey, you know, it's funny, is that I can't see the chat, but I can only imagine. I didn't know it's cooking. That's the kid say. He got cooked. He can't see it, but he can't see it. The chat is standing on business, Tony. It's standing on business. We've started yelling into the microphone. Scrabie, Scrabie, I love you. You know, I said, I said 2024 was the year of Matt Scrabie. Until today. Until today. We got to get to break. Sorry, Sam. We really didn't talk. Eddie Padre. He's wheezing. He will be on. He's wheezing. Padre is a pretty post game show tonight. When we come back, I have no idea. I might leave the studio. That's what's going to happen. I've never invited back to the fan. This show is sponsored by MIDI Health. It's a good thing baseballs already have stitches because the way these ball players are hitting them. Yeah, they need stitches if they didn't already have them. You're imported by crimely port Chicago Illinois. All right everybody they they convinced me to come back. I was um we had to get a car. He was in the parking lot. I was ready to leave because everybody's being mean to me today. So you know what I'm going to do everybody? I am going to start being positive Scrabie. The old you know the Padres have played so well this season they have done nothing wrong and I don't think they're going to do anything wrong going forward because apparently this is all people want to hear. Don't like this. Apparently this is all people want to hear. Don't like it. Um I think this is what I think. I think you should turn the cooking that you just received and flip it on somebody else later in the show like not on the show but I saw in the rundown. Oh oh oh there might be somebody that has been saying some things that need to be cooked and I think we should let Scrabie go on a rant. Oh I'm going to cook them. Oh yeah I'm going to cook them. And you know what I think Sam was playing a great role in trying to motivate you to use all of that energy built up. I to just absolutely destroy this this person who most Padres fans don't like because he has terrible takes. Yes. Usually involving the Padres. So when he tries to be extra positive about the Padres we're not buying his BS and Matt Scrabie is going to shut that down later on. Yes 320. We're going to be talking about that. 320 everybody. Three Scrabie is going to cook somebody and you don't know who it is yet but he is going to cook him. Now I got it now you're at 320. No stay tuned. All of this cooking of Scrabie is getting flipped and he's going to cook somebody at 320. It's going to be glorious. I can't wait. All right. That's called T's. I've texted thank you for for that. I texted Sam Levitt saying our friendship is over. So that's what we're dealing with here. The Padres are dealing with the Dodgers. We'll get back to a little bit of sports talk here for a second but they're up in LA game three and they lost last night. So they lost their team of destiny or at least controlling their own destiny. Let's not say they lost their team of destiny is different controlling of their own destiny. They lost last night and Sam did think that was a fair point but tonight if they continue to win the rest of the postseason or postseason the rest of the season I'm very flustered right now. The rest of the season I still rattled and the Dodgers somehow get beat in Colorado the Padres still have a chance at the division. They just can't win it outright at the moment because the the Dodgers are now two games up with four. Padres need to go four and oh yeah it's four games left. Padres need to go four and oh and the Dodgers need to go one and three. Which can't happen. It's oh it's possible and the Rockies have played spoiler before and they've played spoiler in the last couple weeks and I like teams that play spoiler. Bud Black Aztec for life Bud Black lives in San Diego still. Do you think he's going to manage? He's going to put the Padres hat on. Are you ready to go? You don't think he dislikes the Padres for how everything went down with him? He still lives here. I think he's fun. Yeah I guess I guess he's buddies with Chris and Tony. Yeah that is true. We got Joe Musgrove on the mound for tonight for the Padres. We have Walker Bueller on the mound for the Dodgers. Now Walker Bueller is not the same guy he used to be. Bueller. And it's because of his Tommy John stuff. I mean his arm injuries have been really bad for him. Tommy John stuff. It's true. Tommy John injury yes. It's true he's not been the same guy. So I'm not as afraid of Walker Bueller anymore that I was when he before his surgeries and before his injuries. I was going to say the exact same thing. Not as afraid of Walker Bueller. I'm not really afraid of that pitching staff in general over there in Los Angeles. So go out there, kick some ass against the dot put the pressure on the Dodgers to have to take care of business and win to in Colorado and and you know see where everything falls because now that you don't have control of your own destiny you know you do can only and I said it before and scraping made a point of it control of the controllables. Yes. As as Brock Ungrich taught me. I already a lot of anyway a lot of coaches but he uses that term but control it you can control and what the Padres can control tonight is Joe Musgrove going out there representing his city and pitching on the pitching on the hill against the Los Angeles Dodgers you know throw up some zeros you can control being able to swing the stick at Dodgers Stadium tonight with hopefully Fernando and Manny leading the charge and go out there and get it W take two out of three from the Dodgers add to your season series lead over Los Angeles that you already won. Yes actually I want to stop down real quick because we do have some history happening right now the final out at the Oakland Coliseum is about to be played mason miller is on the mound the azer of three to two over the Rangers since Travis James to out oh two this could be the final oh yeah against Travis James Kowski this could be the final pitch ever at the Oakland Coliseum and I got to say I'm very sad about this growing up in the Bay Area I'm not necessarily an ace fan but I do have many family members that are ace fans in our hardcore ace fans and this is very painful for them I mean it's almost exactly like what happened with San Diego Chargers fans and the Chargers why is it not completely the same I guess I feel for any team that I feel for any city that loses their team because of poor ownership yeah I mean it is poor ownership and then the gap the gas lighting by Fisher after John Fisher putting out this statement and if you haven't seen it there was a sports reporter in San Francisco I think on Channel 7 up there that did a really great rant about John Fisher and how basically his entire statement was a lie and John Fisher should be embarrassed by all of this he's not he doesn't care and he all he wants is to be a part of that upper level MLB owner crew and this is never going to get him there because he doesn't even have a stadium in Las Vegas and the final game has been played at the Oakland Coliseum Mason Miller gives Travis Jankowski to ground out to shortstop in the A's win three to two they had 48,000 plus people there today for the final game and isn't it amazing what happens just if you try you know I'm saying like oh yeah like the Padres think about the Padres right from the Padres perspective they had been so so bad for so long and the new ownership that came in when the Peterson side their group and all they did it's not even like the Padres have won anything they haven't won a division since they took over they haven't won a World Series they've even been to a World Series haven't even won a pennant yet and think about how packed that place is because they try yeah they just tried yeah that's all they had to do is try these owners all they have to do is try you know what I'm people will show up in full force you know what I I've noticed about life you put a little effort into things and good things come towards you but right now they're doing some of the post game celebration they're all soaking it in I did see earlier today that a couple guys were being chased by a security guards at the Oakland Coliseum because they were trying to steal seats out of the highest name if you are able to pull a seat out of a stadium and leave the stadium with the seat it's yours it should be yours it's like capture the flag they capture the they capture the seat you can't go after them it's their seat now it is their seat what do you need it for who's playing there anymore john fisher doesn't want you to have anything without having to pay for it all right even on the stadium or the the city of Oakland on the stadium the city of Oakland nobody's gonna be there anymore don't even care anymore because I want the age to make the playoffs next year because you know for a fact major league baseball is not letting them host a playoff series in Sacramento no no no no no no no no could you imagine they had the World Series where they playing at I'm going back to Oakland you get a place in San Francisco I'm telling you I have a friend in Sacramento major baseball fan goes to these triple a games where they're gonna play and says he says he has no idea how a major league team is going to have a season and the Padres I think the schedule is right April they got him in April yeah they got him right out the gate in April so it's April seventh eighth and ninth on the schedule and we'll see that stadium very early in the season okay let's get we haven't done this in a couple days but we're going to get to the daily gambling go over some things do you like money I think about money oh wow great don't you like money without doing anything uh that winning do you want to make money while watching sports I think Washington is immortal luck Washington if you answer yes this is your segment just don't blame us when you lose nothing is ever your fault it's your game take it Gwen and Chris go through the dump best of the day in the daily gambit on 97 3 the fan daily gambit is our daily sports betting segment here on Gwen and Chris please everybody gamble responsibly we do have an NFL game tonight but we do we are not airing it here on this station because obviously the Padres are going to be playing at 7 10 p.m. Sammy Lev's eco water so Cal Padres pre-game show at 6 10 p.m. but the game tonight Thursday night football in the medal lands I guess it's still the medal lands it's the John in the Cowboys now the Cowboys are five and a half point favorites in this game Braden I know you're a Cowboys guy you actually have a Cowboys shirt on as we speak only only just get a a rise out of Tony but he didn't he didn't notice Tony's not a very when he's away he's not a good attention to detail guy when he's here he probably wouldn't notice I um I like the Cowboys I don't like it that much you're not gonna you're not gonna bet that they win by more than five and a half they should they should win by more than five and a voice can you tell me the last time that Giants beat the Cowboys no that was that was when I think I was in high school it's been like 14 years since they like beat the Cowboys it's insane I I understand they've never beaten Dak Prescott I understand that they they really the execs really like the Cowboys and the Giants and the Eagles and the commanders and the commanders are actually pretty fun to watch now with Jane Daniels and coke but I'm so tired of prime time games that include either the Cowboys the Giants or the Eagles I just can't do it they have the biggest fan bases they're gonna get the biggest TV ratings you want them to stop being on TV they better you got the Niners have more fan they gotta have more fans all right so you said no on the Dallas Cowboys minus five and a half in the game I say yes I'll take five and a half okay you should win I don't think they're playing very well I don't they might be a lot worse than we thought but um I they'll handle the Giants if not looks very good they haven't but they're coming off of a win against the Browns team that was supposedly gonna win the Super Bowl but I never really believed it here's a one-prop bet for tonight Braden it's a four-legged and it's plus 650 total Devin Singletary anytime touchdown CD lamb anytime touchdown Malik neighbors 70 plus receiving yards CD lamb 80 plus receiving yards now my my thought behind this is Devin Singletary has been pretty good you might get a rushing touchdown CD lamb got into a big argument with Dak Prescott on the sideline last week and I believe they're going to force CD lamb the ball and then I'm taking a flyer on Malik neighbors doing it two weeks in a row I don't mind that little parlay there I like it I didn't want to correct the Cowboys aside from when they sat players and lost a game on January 3rd in 2021 against the Giants they're 13 and 1 in their last 14 games against New York they haven't lost to the Giants since aside for that one loss since 2016 so I want to get that 8 years is a long time that's a very long time but just to recap your your part is how many legs is it it's for Devin Singletary anytime touchdown I think that is touchdown I think that hits 70 plus Malik neighbors receiving I think that hits 80 plus CD lamb receiving yards I like the combo the yards and the touchdowns for receivers on parlay me so because if you think he's gonna score a touchdown he didn't get a log I think yeah and you know I I don't buy into the whole like oh they're gonna double team him well if you double team him that means something else is open someone else yes you're right you can't you can't cover all the gaps defensively and double team got it's impossible so I think uh I like that I think it's pretty good I will be looking for that when I watch the game when we get off the air all right uh last thing I was updating everyone I don't think I did this yesterday the Padres World Series odds now are plus 900 the World Series favorites have not moved at all really wasn't it 12 hundred still the favor yeah it was 1200 so it's before they clinched oh okay so since after they clinched yeah you should have cashed it when he had the chance seriously these some of these bets are so good to make it the beginning of the year and if you just put like ten dollars down on them if you can I'm not saying for anyone to spend money on betting but it's kind of like a lottery ticket a little bit a hundred bucks on the pottery yeah a hundred bucks to win 1200 at the beginning of the year I mean by the time the end of the season happens anyway you forget about it's like the Jackson Merrill odds for rookie of the year at the beginning of the year with like plus three thousand I will never never guess he would win the look of the year at the beginning but that's why I mean if you take a chance like that I mean the only thing is you think you'd be hosing yourself I I don't mind the I think Woods calls it the emotional hedge bets the emotional touch I don't mind those are you playing bet bet on the Dodgers to win it all so it's like I'm either gonna make money or they're gonna lose and I'm gonna be the reason why they lose in my own mind all right that's it for the daily gambit that's it we got nothing else no no college football bets no that's usually Chris's thing maybe tomorrow I'll do some college football bets but when we get back here on Gwen and Chris I can ask Adam who's who's gonna win in Tuscaloosa this weekend I mean I think he already knows that he's going to say Georgia it's going to be tickets for that game or not Pat and Alabama is uh the underdog for the first time at home in like since 2007 something crazy like that looks like the Bulldogs with but 14 on the other side I'm gonna do the roast that Braden so he's going to cook he's going to cook somebody when we get back on 97 through the fan for the first time us subscribers can stream MLB network 24 7 including down just a little bit from the sandy left segment of 240 if you would like to see why sam leavitt and i are no longer friends you can go back to the youtube at 240 and you can watch that i'm going to cook you scravy that's what that's what sam said that he said he drafted that text message and he never sent it said he didn't even send it and so he said it on the air completely taking me by surprise and roasting me for something that many many podrations out there were were um thinking and i don't like it and now all of a sudden my camera just put your hand like this oh yeah i was tracking me you know yeah i just like you could get back at sam by roasting him when he can't defend himself since he's not sure i don't want to roast sam what am i supposed to roast sam hey everybody it's a pajre's radio network we have a good one tonight between the dodgers and the pajres that's inside the lens i know i went into like yucky the potster and adam was just sitting there going like well you know he's not here he's like the devil on your shoulder right now that's a good point the sour 97 through the fan is brought to be by california coast credit union with master card local calco's credit union members can earn five percent cash back on purchases made with the calco's master card credit and debit cards every time they shop at participating businesses learn more at calco's cu dot org slash shop dash local calco's cu dot org slash shop dash local now i'm going to get into my roasting in just a second but adam brought something to our attention in the uh break and it has to do with the a's and it has to do with them playing their final game at the oakland called sean right now on tv they're actually saving some dirt from the mound which is like i know john fishers probably gonna sell for a hundred bucks a vial or something like that because that's what he does but adam showed us um a picture of the grounds crew for the a's and then the manager of the a's mark cotsay they were getting into a picture and it was supposed to be honoring john fisher according to the caption i believe the caption but okay mark cotsay decided that he was going to give the double bird to the camera during that honoring of john fisher so i'm not sure if it actually was them honoring john fisher if someone just put that on twitter and then ran with it but it looks like mark cotsay is not a fan of this decision not a fan of the oakland a's or the a's organization mainly his own that is a non-context oakland a's post right there we have no idea what the context is that i think a lot of people wish it was that um but i i believe it the sports center account put out the picture of the double bird how long is that going to be out there uh yeah sports center is now the t they're trying to be tmz sports but tmz sports beat them to be in tmz sports yeah huge fan all right um all right here we go adam i'm ready to play the video oh he's ready to roll ready to play the video guys ready to cook man breeding is over selling this because standing on business he is over selling this but here is the kind of guy come on networks brian kenny talking about the padres padres taking game one in l_a_ late last night finished it off in style down two in the ninth dodgers get two on this is mcgill rojas win probability at this point for l_a_ 32 percent it's a shot and that's not counting shohayo tani and mookie bets up next but they don't bat many michado starts it jake croneworth makes the turn padres win game one of the series on a triple play and clinching to finish things off clinching the playoff spot they get into the playoffs and again with two games left in the series there within two games of the dodgers in the n_l_ west so it's a remarkable retooling for san diego let's start things off into a little digging in and just focus on three things brian others more but we'll just narrow it down aj prawler in the padres we're up against it in the off-season facing huge pitching losses blake snell set blue go michael waka all in their walk here this is that's all i need that's all i mean because what i want to say is i i normally don't really get too angry about national national host but brian kenny has been a hater of the padres ever since he made all those comments about tony guin senior and how he shouldn't have been a hall of famer because of the analytics and and uh two years ago when joe musgrove had that game against the Mets brian kenny comes out on tv and basically without saying it says that joe musgrove was cheating look at his spin rates he had to have had something on his ears and you know he had zero proof of that he had spin rates never apologize as brian just said he had these spin rates of oh maybe a guy who's maybe a little amped up to be pitching in the biggest game of his life and earlier this year brian kenny said that the padres and the Mets needs you to sell everything sell the farm and start over because they have failed and this was early in the year brian kenny is everything that's wrong with the national sports talk scene because all he does is make points that serve him best if he wants to trash a team he's gonna trash a team now he comes back and says the padres have this huge retooling and they're they're good for doing it a.j. preller needs all this credit where was this before if you want my respect you need to stand by your take so if brian kenny came out here and said you know what i said this back in march or april or may or whatever and i was clearly wrong and here's why i would have so much more respect for that guy but he doesn't do that because he doesn't care he is a clip art or a hot take artist he is a guy who does this show as uh pat matt can be said about the manning cast he does his things for hot takes and he does his things for twitter clips i cannot stand it and i don't know how and it'll be network has a guy like brian kenny working for them anymore it's ridiculous to me he doesn't have an expertise in baseball he's a boxing guy i mean i i just don't i i can't handle brian kenny anymore i'm to the point where when i see these things it boils my blood cook cook cook uh well done you know what we call those media members matt there's a great name for him grifters no ryan leaf tone the tone that very well when he's talking about the college game day crew and i think brian kenny is one of these one of these descriptions would i guess again um that would be that would be a win sock the guys that win sock because all he does is just talk about whatever which way the wind blows is what his opinion is every single time we talked about the the bs of the joe musgrove thing the tote win thing is also utterly ridiculous i can't even get into a hot take guy but here's the deal with mr win sock brian kenny win sock win sock guys a win sock you can keep that phrase if you like he's a win sock during the season and you brought this up but this is what really gets me during the season he brought up four teams in the national league that should not be buying at the deadline because they're quote rebuilding and have no business wasting their money and assets to try to go after a championship this season which by the way is non-competitive that is so not what a loser attitude i mean that's that's that's that's that's not a great attitude to have for a major league baseball team all these teams should be trying to win at all costs at the best level i think there's certain criteria that revolves in you being a seller i mean you look at like some of the teams like oakland and in chicago white socks obviously with as young talent but he picked the trays and the Mets two teams but he picks he picked the cardinals which is okay fair he picked the Mets and at the time the Mets weren't playing very well they weren't and he picked the pottery the pottery's to me it's like no they're not sellers my guy they signed these long-term contracts they're not in rebuild mode but to say that and then go off after the fact and be like hey look at all the great moves they made in order to put themselves in a position to be a favorite in the world series to win a world series i was like hang on a second you wanted them to sell at the deadline they weren't good enough for you but now i was out there amazing things but now it's like oh look all these great moves they made here hunter on the chat says uh brine kenny sucks but he doesn't write the shows and i this is my response to that adam has told me since day one that he has worked here it's not his responsibility to give me my opinion it's his responsibility to make to help me learn what i should be talking about and brine kenny has the right and the means to change his take if he doesn't like it there's not i'm not going to come on here and give adam's take because adam wants it that way brine kenny has choice over what he says and he continues to do this and he continues to just attack the pottery isn't this really isn't even a pottery thing it's a national radio host thing and i'm tired of it that's offensive it's a pottery got anything on this adam it's a personal attack towards podris i was just gonna say i tell you it's not my job to tell you what your opinion yes it's what you should have an opinion on yes yes so brine kenny your producer will say we are going to have a segment on the podris or teams that should be sellers at the deadline and brine comes up with his opinion and he decides i'm going to say that the the podris should do that yeah i i i'm looking at the chat right now and i'm seeing a bunch of people there saying the same thing and and hey i'm not saying it will be network is bad because yesterday i said i like mark darosa i like that morning crew with roflow and lauren shahadi i believe lauren shahadi is on them with the morning crew i like mad dog i do i love his uh he's out bad dog he's hilarious well that's why we're that's why we're shouting at him but i do our best mad dog in person i know someone's like why are you shouting because i'm fired up about this i'm tired of it i'm tired of these guys just going where the wind goes as brine said he's a wind sock he's a wind sock all right i got that off my chest i hope i know i was built in sam just let's create a match drop it in i just got a text put that in a promo it fired me up i think we should have let's gravy cook should be a new segment as well as oh i had another one that was that was spurt looking through the archives of the library for some like sort of sizzling fire type music to put underneath the uh i just got a text from uh sam leven saying wow that was really good dude and i just texted him back said we're not friends we're still not friends yeah i mean he's trying to win me back and i i'm not going to let it happen it just can't happen today that's what it is new segment for the scrappy show scrapies unwritten rules i think that's a great segment i might have to think about this it's all it's kind of borderline daily gripesh and it could you know it could be about you know putting uh grocery carts back in uh yeah all these scrapies unwritten rules i think that sounds better okay here first segment of unwritten rules i went to vaughans today guys here we go went to go pull into the spot here we go that was near the front and i turned guess what there's a cart sitting in the spot i couldn't see it until i turned it into a i can you believe this it was ridiculous can you believe this so you know what i did i took that cart and i put it backwards supposed to go as a former cart person that worked at vaughans back when i was 18 and 19 years old you put the carts back in the cart thing back in my day i that is a man in my day literally 20 years ago i worked for fun i'm 39 i worked for vaughans when i was 20 years ago i like hanging out with scrappy because i feel so much younger than i actually am well you you are i know i am but i that's brain was born after the 49ers won their first super bowl i'm 10 years i'm 10 years old that's crazy to me but the thing is is i'm i'm the old guy in most of my friend groups i get called the old around you i'm a i'm spry well i gotta hang out with you and chris well chris is here or chris when chris is here they ask if they need us to get him a coffin so you dig his grave and then you can dig your own right after that all right you guys are right there when we give back you see 20 says breathe i will breathe in the break my face is actually turning really red right now come to a cart narc all right when we get back fantasy sports court tony will rejoin us on 97-3 the fan all right everybody i've calmed down now matt scrapie braid and soprano adam cluke here on 97-3 the fan and uh we are going to be talking about something at 420 and it has to do with a little podcast that was recorded up the road in l.a. between mookie bets and Fernando tatiz jr so stick around for that 420 we have a sports court here we have braid versus the fans at 4 p.m and i was asked on the chat if i take medication the answer is yes i take medication uh everybody should take medication if they need to i am happy and healthy because of the medication so whoever that was if you think you were dissing me you weren't because i will gladly tell everybody out there i take medication uh with that said we are going to head into fantasy sports court which is basically braid and tony are going to make rulings on different fantasy sports problems so we will get to that right after our traffic report do you have a sports issue san diego do you need a third party to make a decision the guys have put on their robes and picked up their gavels oh rise here comes the judge gwen and chris sports court starts now on 97-3 the fan and before we get into it if you love mediterranean food try spiro's for authentic mediterranean cuisine in coronado or lahoya for dining or take out option visit spiro's cuisine.com now unfortunately chris is not here to wear the wig today but we do have braid and tony and myself to help everyone through some of these sports court issues he wears a wig yes so listen about him a wig and it looks actually really good on him i i have to it's one of the greatest things you'll ever see braid uh he needs to wear that to softball it fits it like fits you would believe that that's his real hair that's pretty insane but all right here we go uh with the first i guess case and i click the button there it goes i have a friend who has won the last two fantasy football championships he's kind of like scravy extremely annoying about his fantasy sports my problem is he acts like because he won fantasy football the last couple years he acts like he's mel kyper jr a player evaluation i keep telling him he got lucky and fantasy sports is all luck but he says i'm just saying that because i did not win tony our fantasy sports locker skill oh there's definitely some luck but there's also some maneuvering that has to take place in order for you to be a a good gm um so yeah i mean you know these things are uh very fickle from time and there are a bunch of people that feel like they uh you know look at some screens and crunch some numbers and hit a couple buttons and they they do feel like that then powers them to know more definitely don't disagree with that but i do think both of those things can be true at the same time it's um some skill and there's some some luck i mean winning three championships in the last two years i i got to say that it's more skill than luck braiden what do you think it's ninety percent luck and it's ten percent skill if we're being honest here anybody that thinks they can evaluate talent because of their fantasy football team is a joker and a liar it's just it's mostly luck you know i know i know i know it's luck i watch my dad's team every year suffer catastrophic injuries out of nowhere and it's just the most unlucky thing i've ever seen in my entire life it's to the point now where whatever he drafts in his fantasy draft and unfortunately it's usually after my fantasy draft i make sure i avoid those players all together because their career might be ending it's so unlucky for my dad and watching him do fantasy football and a lot of the leagues are really it's it's mostly luck the skill that's involved is just not being completely incompetent about who's playing and who's not because the thing is is it even if you put together a team um you know and you auto draft which by the way most teams that win auto draft because the computer is better than most humans at drafting teams not this guy not this guy but if you look at it i mean you still have to you still have to manage your roster and and pick up the right guy when injuries happen but with injuries and not being able to predict what happens it's ninety percent luck it's ten percent skill tell that guy that he didn't know s about football i i would say i would say this if if pops have been playing fancy football just longing everybody he picks is getting hurt you know maybe they luck anymore maybe there's a chance when he had d_b_s_ Samuel catastrophic injury i get d_b_s_ Samuel guy goes off almost i've been here same thing i've just said d_b_o has he all ups all the track the guy d_b_o has been hurt every year for like the last four years at some point but he had him before he started getting hurt and then all of a sudden mike soprano's got him and it's just catastrophic injuries out of nowhere he drafts the guy the year before here's the best way to draft your team figure out who mike soprano drafted the year before because he won't draft in this year and those guys know those guys are going to go off they're going to go off that's the best that sounds like that sounds like chris hello i was just going to say how many times have we heard this from chris it sounds exactly like chris you want it the other reason why i think it's mostly luck too here's the other thing is the way that you do match-ups any if you play a match-up match-up league like were you playing teams it's it's luck because you could have the second most points every single week and go go in ten brain is clearly thought about this for a long periods of time that's the best fantasy league design you do the esp and standard scoring and then you stack everybody up all twelve teams winner of each week wins the week if you want to do monetary things that you know that might may or may not be illegal you could do that per week and then whoever's got the most points at the end of the year wins the league that's how it should be i don't know about that but let's go forward oh that's because you didn't win that way um how do you know because our league doesn't have to stop the bottom i saw this on reddit and thought it would be a good topic a fantasy league has a team that is claiming they should be able to retroactively put joann jennings in their lineup because they got into a car accident that morning and didn't have the chance to change the lineup so they called the kamish told them with them to make the change the kamish ruled and said no this person is hoping the league would understand and this person is trying to hard to make this happen side note the car accident didn't really seem like people will hurt or anything but due to the phone call requesting the roster move brain does this person deserve joann jennings his points the only time i think you deserve to make a change is if something acts up with the computer in terms of your pickups right before um the week or you know if you have an interesting waiver period where if one of your guys goes down in warm-ups and there's a you know you still got to put a bit and there's a waiting period for your waivers that's the only time i think the commissioner should jump in and make sure um a move happens but you know what it's that i'm sorry you got in the car accident i'm glad everybody's okay but you didn't set the lineup in time and you know things happen in life get your get your lineup in on time you don't get you don't get to uh use the car accident as an excuse tony yeah this is going to be a quick two low get this out of our courtroom oh two barbecued man you know i i i i'm hoping one day this non-injury everybody's good accident happens to tom andrew thomas andrew's no no he's going to have no one he's going to have no one in his lineup at all they play stupid games you win stupid prizes i mean that's right i do hope every sunday that thomas forgets the status lineup just tell me we don't all hope that just because we've all yeah now this this is this that the case the case is thrown out yet now this is oh two barbecue as braid said all right here we go next one we have two more we have a fancy football league with the last place punishment and i came in last place the last season i have until the end of the year to get a tattoo of my friend's choice it can be super small and hidden but i don't have any tattoos and i did not think they would actually make me do it tony how do i handle this better get that uh that pinky toe or whatever piece that you want to hide this tattoo you better get it ready buddy don't don't don't agree to do something because you think oh they will actually make me do this because on the chance they do you're gonna be in trouble so bruh gets you good everybody part whatever you what idea you got for this tattoo because uh you you got it it's got to go down buddy wow okay uh braiden how does this person handle this didn't i just say play stupid games you win stupid prizes he played a stupid game signing up for this i refuse to play in any fantasy league where there's a punishment for last place because if i agree upon it i'm gonna have to do it and on top of that i don't like making people do things that they don't want to do because of thinking about myself if i was in that situation so i don't throw rocks if i live in a glass house and i will not play a stupid game if i don't want to win the stupid prize you played the game you lost and now you got to have the tattoo i that that was on you that's that that's on you all right um i would actually be nicer and probably just let this guy out of it but then what's the point of the whole punishment yes you agree to find you're also one of the people that would have agreed to do it i would get a tattoo i have many bad tattoos tony was another one would you stay at a waffle house for 24 hours um maybe i would do that i i also saw something where someone had to stay in a bar for 24 hours and that's the same yeah same thing it's a waffle house they get like 30 minutes off their time or whatever yeah you can sit at like a fast food place that sounds like a reward though sitting in a bar all day 24 hours dude have you ever sat anywhere for 24 straight hours that sounds miserable you're talking to a guy who would have loved to be in a bar for 24 hours back in the day but even pick pick something else like the waffle house thing got to eat a waffle like you got to eat like a the all-star meal to get an hour off i mean 24 hours is a long time you're just sitting there that's true all right final one my wife saw my fantasy football name and she is not happy with me my team name is the old ball and chain she thinks it's making fun of her and she wants me to change it bradon is this a bad name you're gonna ask the guys not married first yep all right i you know it's it's it's an okay name but i here's my name is fantasy football names it's like over-the-line names you can't let your spouse or your family find out what your over-the-line team name is it might end poorly for you so i think when you come up with your with your name just understand you gotta i think especially if you're married you know what my wife liked this if she found out what my fantasy football name is if there's any slight hesitation in the bag of your mind that you might get yelled at or have to sleep on the couch you should probably not do it i don't think it's that big of a deal for a name the old ball and chain but you know what i'm not married so i don't really know tony i think i think this is a better answer for you yes we need the expert on this one uh i mean i would hope my wife wouldn't take it like that serious i mean it's not that big of a deal it's just a fantasy yeah it's just a family my wife wouldn't trip about something like this it's just a fantasy football name so you got to know you got to know your wife right obviously they didn't mean that yeah you're you're at you got to understand that guy had to know that she was going to be upset about this yeah i would think so like if you've been married i mean this there's probably been other situations where he's probably to his antennas should have gone up but um clearly it didn't so uh should she be mad yes but he she should be i guess you should know that you know the question was is that a bad name i think it's only it's only a bad name if your wife thinks it's a bad name that's the answer oh i can tell you why he named her the old ball and chain because she's no fun hey yeah you know what maybe it was intentional yeah could have been it was not to look at the film on that one all right that is it for fantasy sports court we have Brayden versus the fans the final edition of that coming up next give if you are a first time playa let us know before you get into it and you'll get that first question for free i don't even really know how that came about but everywhere we go now when we do stuff out out and about people yell playa that's kind of funny and did i adam have you ever heard this story there's a listener who works in a hospital and they're like an intake person at the hospital and some guy was checking in for the first time and i guess our listener said oh so you're a first time playa that's great that is great i thought that was funny and the guy the guy said he looked at him like huh what is going on here i'm in the hospital all right here we go let's get to our first can test it let's go to alex in cardif hello alex how are you i'm doing great how are you good pretty good pretty good uh here we go you're you're playing braid and so question number one which nfl player is known as the refrigerator i don't know okay you're playing the game and do you know who is known as brandon what up gravy not too much what's up all right i know braid or uh brandon has played before so here we go question number one what here did the basketball world witness the dream team 92 92 is correct nice job brandon uh here we go second question wit what is called let me start that over what is it called when a volleyball player wins a point due to a successful immediate attack a fight that is incorrect i mean i think that's anyway go ahead maybe a kill a kill is correct i'm sorry i ran high school you did it was a labero oh what small amount of time look at you so i know volleyball i guess oh i did not this is knowledge i did not have until today he's he's he's the questions are corrupt i know questions are corrupt he told me all the questions uh all right let's go to Jason hello Jason hey good afternoon gentlemen how are you doing i am doing fantastic all right here we go question number one there are two teams that have won the most super bowl titles name both uh let's uh obviously Dallas Cowboys is one and i'm going to say i might be wrong but there are fiscal 49ers thank you for mentioning my team that is incorrect stay right there braid do you know the two teams who have tied for most super bowl titles were they both incorrect okay i'll tell you how i can't say uh i'd say the Steelers and the 49ers incorrect you are still alive Jason it's the Steelers and the Patriots Patriots passed up i love everybody thinks the 49ers have won so many Super Bowls that makes me feel good that's because they had the best team money can buy before sadly okay maybe you shouldn't feel good because they didn't actually win this game they haven't won since they've been the last time they've won it was 1995 listen my team's never won one and they've gotten humiliated okay all right i was born 49ers have lost the last three that they played in so all right here we go Jason question number two what major league baseball player has walked the most times this season wow i'm gonna go i'm gonna go with the obvious oh shit it's gonna be either uh let's go with that judge judge is correct i thought you were gonna go Juan Soto there for a second because Juan Soto leads the league and walks all the time i did write this question yesterday but i think Aaron Judge has enough walks in between him and Juan Soto i just know i'm just checking i i wrote this yesterday i don't think Juan Soto is gonna get four walk okay yes Aaron Judge is now he's leading by five walks so i'm saying oh my god all right third and final question i guess it's the same unless Juan Soto walked five times yesterday there's no chance he could have he could have but he did not all right uh Jason who is the shortest player to have ever played in the mba spud web spud web is a great answer it isn't correct stay right there braid who's the shortest player to have ever played in the mba we know that Brayton's a huge MBA now right i forgot that the dude in the space jam the bugsy what's his name mugsy bo's i'm like that mugsy bugsy bo's wow brain got it smugsy bo's is correct thank you space jam thank you space yes mugs he was five foot three i love mugsy bo's grown up he was great it was great in space did you ever play for the the hawks i feel like he no okay uh let's go to our new web dude spud web okay that's where i got it mixed up let's go to our next contestant we're going to go to jake in ocean side hello jake hey good afternoon gentlemen good afternoon here we go question number one who was the first actually i'm sorry that's that's a question number two what is the name of the trophy awarded to the super bowl champions oh my god that one party trophy correct technically Vince Lombardi trophy but you're fine everybody calls it the little party trophy question number two jake hmm who holds the record for the most receiving touchdowns in a single season Jerry rice jerry rice is incorrect brain who is the or who holds the record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season straight cash homie randy moff wow that is correct you have 23 touchdowns with the Patriots right yes it was it was straight cash homie straight cash homie you know what commercial i love is the one with all the old guys oh yeah they come back with the dandere you know he's trying to look at his play sheet and he's got his glasses on but i think we're gonna have to go tiebreaker right now because we uh got to move things along a little bit so here's how the tiebreaker works braid and i'm going to guess a random player let's get an ace player let's go dentists ecursally and i'm going to ask you for a number it's gonna make sense in a second i just got to get a status like is this like a magic trick no it's not like a magic trick so i'm going to ask you uh and jake is jake is eliminated right yes jake is eliminated okay let's go to see a buddy ben wah ben wah are you there yeah third all right here we go keen we are playing the tiebreaker so braiden yes how many saves did dentists ecursally have in his career i don't know 325 325 ben wah is the actual answer higher or lower oh higher higher is correct nice job ben wah you are the winner you stay right there we're going to get your information the actual number of saves 390 and dentists ecursally's career can't believe that guy he played for 24 years it says right here now what did i say three what 325 you weren't too bad that's not too bad we're too bad all right we have our winner we're going to go to break when we get back we're going to discuss Fernando tati's jr mookie bets do we have an issue with them sitting down for a podcast this week we'll talk about it when we get back on 97 3 the fan two more second segments to go before the 97 3 the fan roundtable replay they did this morning so that'll happen at 5 p.m and then you have sammy leavitt with the eco water so cal pottery's pregame show starting at 610 today so stick around we still have the big five left but in this segment we are going to talk about floating around the internet all afternoon long and uh i guess the people out there have somewhat of an issue so i'll play it first and then we'll talk about it but the mookie bets had Fernando tati's jr on his podcast and it must have been recorded like yesterday because in the podcast they talked about the triple play but here is what mookie said about the situation a lot of people in the chat and i'm sure in the comments and and whatnot are thinking that they're saying that it's funny and kind of crazy that we're doing a podcast right now in the midst of the race and so my take on it and i let you talk but my take on it is the game during the game but like we'll be fighting to win the game like that's that's a given that's between the lines right but i think i may have said it before like the brotherhood that's created playing this game is what you'll always remember when we get older we're going to always remember tati's as a great player up right but i'm going to remember who you were yeah the person that you are how you treated me how we our relationship more than the baseball stuff and so for me like right now this is we're living a normal life yeah there's fire you know this is a normal and now when the game starts we're fighting right and so i want to hear your take on it like what do you what do you think about it um i definitely appreciate this you know because you said like you mentioned this is what we're going to take this one we're going to remember the home runs and like the heads and all that is pretty but you know the people that that you meet on the way that at the same time so many different backgrounds but at the same time also so similar you know and like very simple yeah very similar and like sharing stories and like having that respect for for for that guy that you know how much of hard work you need to do to be in the place that you are and that and being you know around people with that same amount of workload of same amount of dedication of passion for the game i mean is is probably the best thing that you're going through that's what we let's talk and you can find the rest of that you can find the interview online if you just search for mookie bets podcast but the major issue apparently is that for nando taty's junior and mookie bets sit down to talk about baseball during the season during a divisional race and i'm assuming that happened yesterday before the game that they played so they still didn't know which team was going to win last night and so it could have been a different result the daughters ended up winning my take on this is who cares they are friends it's okay to be friends with other people i'm friends with the with people in this business brains friends with people in this business yeah i like add me okay add it you're just kidding add sand don't even get me started on sam let's right we don't know those people but basically this is not the era anymore where guys have to hate each other in my opinion i don't i don't care if a guy is sitting there spitting in some guy's face because he's he's so he's he's so locked in on being a san diego pottery i can't talk to a dodger i hate you that's just not how this world works anymore that's just not how i operate and this is a non-issue for me if anything i think this is this is great because now you get to see two high-level baseball players two superstars sitting down and talking about current baseball events and i think that's more valuable than being mad at them for having a podcast during the season i think this is a good thing and i like it um i really have an opinion about it either way all i do with people you understand is rivalries and sports are in the stands they're not in the field or in the court um you know in terms of like that utter hatred it's a different time now these guys are all colleagues they all work for major league baseball um you know it's this they're all in the same boat together and eventually especially with free agency and trades now in this day and age of sport and the way they all start game is and i mean all these guys end up playing with each other at some point in time as well i mean it's they text each other all the time they call each other you know they're they're more alike than then you know then then they are with the fans right i mean they they're in their own little world so um you know i i don't really have a problem with this i i know you know dodger fans and podris fans probably lose their mind but again the rivalry is in the stands yes it's not a rivalry and that's that's an all that's in all sports right now i mean you could talk about all the big college rivalries right throughout college athletics and that's like a our school versus usual but with the with the way the transfer portal is and the way that these guys all played high school ball together i mean they don't hate each other right i mean at the end of the day i mean there might be some players that dislike other players in the league they might have their own personal rivalries uh but the reality is the rivalries in the stands when it comes to sports it's not on the field and those guys you know they're they don't hate each other as much as maybe the fans do uh jh 619 on the chat said if it's max Muncie it's different i kind of agree with that but that's just mainly a joke i don't think max Muncie's gonna have his own podcast but i i agree with you 100% they cross each other's paths all the time i think mookie bets is a cold dude i think that he is a good guy and i want to hear what he has to say with fernanditatis tuner i mean where can you get a breakdown of the triple play between two players on opposing sides unless they sit down for a podcast this this this is a non issue for me i it's you know what dude i i use it during the the break and if anybody hasn't seen heat this is the scene where alpuccino and roberton narrow are sharing a couple coffee together at the diner before you know the big heist goes down the next day and you know they're they're they're talking about their lives and you know they're what what you know just the different perspectives right as you have a bank robber and the cop that's trying to stop said bank robber and they both know who each other are and they both said you know they had this peaceful conversation right this this civil conversation at the diner and then that or as it ended it was like you know just just understand if it's between you and me you know if if you're in the way of me getting what i need to get i will not hesitate the same thing was said by alpuccino i think the same thing is is is said in this conversation i mean obviously they're still going to compete against each other on the field right the next day and and potentially in the post-season but at the same time i mean they they're they're still human beings like like we are too and i'm not saying it's soft i'm not saying they need to have the fight i mean this i think people need to understand the reality of the situation and in professional sports the athletes are more like each other than they are like the fans exactly and they work to get their aunt they're employed by the same employer they call up the agility of baseball right it's they're employed by majorly good same thing like like scraping brought up with in this industry with the amount of people that move around from station to station in in sports media i mean you're gonna be on the same team and the i've worked with a lot of people in town that are at different places now that might be considered rival places i mean at the end of the day maybe the company is arrivals but that doesn't mean us individually are right and same thing said like when i was in high school all the catholic schools jumped into cathedral or saints and i had so many friends that went to saints and at the end of the game you know i'd like to kick my buddy's ass right in the game but after the game it was like yeah it was fine we're going out to whatever after they let's go and then you joke you be like remember how hard i hit you on that third down and then it's just fun bobby says on the chat something i think we should end with which is when i was in the army we had beef with all the other branches and vice versa but when we were deployed we were all fighting the same war and some of those dudes are still my best friends like they said in the video army navy when they're playing the game they're enemies right when they're when the game is over they're going to go to dinner together and that doesn't mean like certain players don't dislike other players because there are players that i'm sure the pod race players don't like on every team and that might have a little bit of a rivalry there too and there are some there are some bad blood between a lot of teams just because traditionally the pod race and the dodgers fans have butted heads doesn't mean all the pod race and dodgers absolutely yeah all right uh we are coming to the final segment of this show and then you'll have the pod race uh 97 through the fan roundtable at 5 p.m but when we get back we have the big five and today we're going to talk about many different things as always but the first thing we're going to talk about is no no joe and his surprising record against the dodgers i'm going to ask tony and braiden for their thoughts so stick with us here we'll be back shortly on 97 through the fan back here in the odyssey palace 97 3 the fan we have a big five right now but first we need to get you your traffic report it's that time of the show when we check on the latest in sports only the most important topics and questions are brought to light stop what you're doing and listen these new stories will astound and amaze you the one the only oh my god who the hell cash the big five starts now on 97 3 the fan all right let's get started today with a little bit of uh no no joe talk because i was listening to the uh roundtable today number five in the morning show and they and i heard paul say it that joe must grove he it's something that really really really surprised me in his career against the dodgers joe must grove is 0 and 7 in 12 appearances against the team he has an eora at 4.48 and 62 k's in those 12 appearances so i'm going to ask you this tony and i think i know your answer but is this a thing or is it coincidence uh right is it a thing or is it coincidence is this struggle against the dodgers a thing you know i i understand fresh questions repeating it to myself okay sorry really man for you to have anything to say uh yes um i think that it is not coincidence i think uh the dodgers have been amongst the best offenses in the game for the time frame that joe has been um a podray um i assume those numbers were just what the podray is not prior to that no it's everything it's everything as well yes it does yeah so i mean as long as joe has been in the league the dodgers have been one of the best offenses in baseball and so um i don't think it's a a coincidence but i don't think it's a thing either i think joe has um also gotten a bet gotten better um over the course of time i think his last few starts have probably dropped that eora down a little bit because he's pitched better i think you know it's it's a really good example what we see in the first two games right both pitchers good pitchers two of the best seas and king um had their pitch counts run up and it's not necessarily about what they were doing it's not all i should say about what they couldn't do it's also about you know how the style in which the dodgers play they play a very similar style as a podridge or podridge are just better at it right now than they are and so i don't think it's a thing either i think it's not a coincidence but it's not a thing because uh i think joe has evolved and gotten better over time and um listen i think you know he has uh the dodgers have had his number uh you know in you know prior years and so um i don't think it's enough for you to for for there to be a change in terms of like not having him face the dodgers he's still one of your best pitchers you don't remove that from the equation all right brady do you think uh joe musgro's winless streak against the dodgers is a thing or coincidence uh well i think tony brings up a good point i mean if you're going against the dodgers since joe musgrove started major league career have been one of the best teams in major league baseball and if you go against some of the best you're gonna have usually not as great numbers against the best but uh if you look at even further because you can you can manipulate data any way you want um when did he become a padre 20 after covid right 2021 oh in 2018 he made one start against the dodgers and gave up four runs three of them earned he's 0-1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 2018 against the dodgers 2019 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA as soon as he joined the padres 0-1 to the 3 ERA in 2021 0-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 2022 0-1 to the 3.38 ERA in 2023 so i mean it's a lot better in a padre's uniform as he learns how to pitch and and started to you know really gain his confidence in major league baseball and grow into the major league baseball player that he is and then the one that really skews his numbers as tony mentioned you know it was the game he started against them this year or he was banged up two and two-thirds innings he gave up seven or he gave up five earned runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts his ERA this year against the dodgers and just two and two-thirds innings obviously is 16.88 so that number is a lot higher than probably it should be um but when you're going against some of the best bats in major league baseball it's it's going to be a little bit higher than normal but i i think if you look at it from the perspective of him in a padre's uniform it's not like they've destroyed Joe Musgrove um you know as a as a member of the padre's right all right number four erin judge is having a season for the ages and even for the record books the yankee slugger hit his 57th home run last night against the Baltimore Orioles and in addition to pulling him closer to the 60 homer threshold with four games to go the homer gave judge his one hundred and forty second RBI of the season which makes him the first player since your your guy Tony Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard in 2009 to post 140 RBIs in a single season judge recorded 131 RBIs in his 62 homer season in 2022 Braden in 100 years are they going to talk about erin judge like we talk about Babe Ruth um i don't know i mean i think you know Babe Ruth had just become just this iconic name in baseball and everybody knows about his name from you know movies and and in history and stuff like that but um you know i don't necessarily know i mean there might be another guy that comes through after judge that continues to put up big numbers um you know but he's definitely he's definitely playing himself into a hall of fame level career with the numbers that he has i think it's just it's different for era like every era of baseball is so different um in terms of the style of play in terms of the rules the amount of games and what have you erin judge doing a lot of great things and you know i is there any other player that is you know up there with with Babe Ruth um you know i i think everybody everybody's era has got their own kind of Babe Ruth player that they like to bring up but you know are people gonna say erin judge is the greatest baseball player of all time like we've heard for so long as kids growing up listen about Babe Ruth i don't necessarily know if that's the case but um you know it's it's interesting topic of discussion because erin judge is is playing himself in the hall of fame these last couple of seasons tony do you think in a hundred years they're gonna talk about erin judge like we talk about Babe Ruth i agree with with braid and that there's probably there's probably gonna be somebody that comes along and his name is actually show hail time that's what we'll be talking about yeah that's like a bruce when it's when it's all said and erin judge doesn't pitch and at least that if he continues he doesn't he doesn't and listen i think erin judge would still have to get in line behind somebody like berry bonds before we in terms of position players but uh oh tony right now he's he's set in the trail that only he is is or i should say he's whiting a trail that only Babe Ruth had been on um so um i i think that's who will be two kids in hundred years most likely we'll be talking about if he continues to keep doing some of the things we've seen him do at this point guys remember mike trout remember mike trout how can i ever forget remember mike trout remember he was a baseball player that everybody thought was like out of the same thing these guys they continue to get better and better and better but i mean like i think tony brings up a good point show hail tony computer that does erin judge get in a hundred years get put behind show hail tony in terms of remembrance because show is just so much better yes hopefully we're playing baseball in hundred years but we'll see what he knows he's he's he's coming up in the wrong he just it's in terms of wanting to be the greatest ever um are in that conversation i mean he's just coming up at the wrong at the wrong at the wrong time like any other time that there wasn't a dude who was pitching and hitting at the level that oh tony is is he would we would be having that conversation about him but unfortunately they're playing at the same exact time and as long as he continues to do this it's gonna keep over and shattering over shadowing uh erin judge ron washington the manager of the angel's made this notable comment in the and in ron washington everybody made this notable comment to the la times yesterday in a story saying quote we're going to get some baseball players who may not be superstars but they know how to play we forgot to bring real baseball players into the organization nothing against those guys here but they're not big league baseball players and they certainly can't help us when a championship end quote so he uh obviously this was a topic of conversation so he was asked about today and today he said quote i miss spoke i didn't mean it the way it came out where i'm saying the organization isn't giving me big league players it's players that have to grow into big league players end quote so tony what do you think of ron washington's bluntness it's because spade spade it is what it is i mean this is kind of the same conversation that you know we had or i don't know how long ago it was about um you know athletes needing to hear the truth sometimes and the like kind of you know different styles in which you can have uh here's why he has a leg to stand on um you know because we see we see managers handle it differently right i think mike she'll certainly as a manager that at least publicly he's never gonna say anything bad or that can be perceived as negative towards the same now behind the scenes when he's talking he tells those guys the truth that's a different way than what ron is doing here but the difference is uh unfortunately for those guys they don't have much of a leg to stand on i mean as a team this year they are 63 and 95 um that's 22 games back uh they have been out scored by 143 runs this year i'm sure the guys in that locker room are big leaders know he's not talking about them there are a few and there's some in there no certain catcher oh hoppie baller uh they got some guys on there that can play but there's a bunch of guys uh that you know are are still trying to prove that they're big leaguers and i think that's what he's getting at it you get you get some dudes who can play who you know understand what it is to be a big leaguer and how to how to play the game at that level and you get better results than 63 and 95 listen to pajamas in 2023 or it's super talented team um that didn't do a lot of the things that need to be done in order to win games and they finished just above 500 and that's with a ton of talent so imagine if you're not doing those things without that kind of talent and that's what the angels have right now and you know that's uh what he's getting at we want some baseball player they don't need to be superstars they just need some be some guys we can play it's a good explanation tony uh braiden what do you think of ron washington's bluntness um i i think it's uh yeah i think i think you probably misspoke a little bit i think we all can figure out what he was trying to say and you know he doesn't have the he doesn't have the big leaguers yet there you know they had a lot of young guys up there trying to play as tony eluded to so i wouldn't weigh too much into you know what he said and as as tony said i mean they have no leg to stand on you can't get upset about that the facts are what the facts are and then by the way i mind you these comments are coming after losing two games to the worst team in baseball a walk-off in that game can you come back but still the whites i can imagine games like that that that's what i'm saying that that's how so you can imagine after the game having these conversations what the kind of stuff that's going through his mind at this point and he's got like 10 minutes 15 minutes at the end of that game to go out there and clear his thoughts and you know we know ron washington doesn't hold back and and says you know me what you say and say what you mean i believe i you know i like that a little bit more than than sometimes the managers just try to you know damn you know beat around the bush but again i i think it's just he's speaking facts and he hey you know what that's why they got to say you know i can play better you don't have to worry about it but my feelings are here Braden ding yeah no yeah no i get it like it just feelings might be hurt but this focus on listening if i if i'm one of those players and i am might feel it but i'm not even winning okay what what do i need to do to get better so that he ain't talking about when you're looking at the score because if you're feeling sometimes right if you if you're feeling some type of way about it it's likely that there's a piece of you that knows damn he's talking about me i love ron washington so we'll go forward with that like number two now just talking about the white socks they left san diego tying the uh mets for the most number of losses in a season uh 120 was it the 62 mets i think it was a 1960 yes 62 mets okay they were the expansion team okay so one more loss in the white socks are making history all on their own and as we just kind of mentioned the last two nights though they are trying to history Tuesday night the white socks were down to nothing heading into the bottom of the eighth they scored three runs to win that game last night they went to extras and had a walk-off win over the angels and today they are playing the angels and so if they win today they stave off history again after today though they have three more left in detroit so Braden do you think they lose one more game uh i think they do because the detroit tigers need to win to make the post season and the only thing standing in their way right now are the chicago white socks and i've talked about this a couple of times you look at the american league standings you get the twins the royals and the tigers all battling for playoff spots and the reality the only reason why they are is because the twins are 12 and 1 against the white socks the royals are 12 and 1 against the white socks and the tigers are 9 and 1 against the chicago white socks if those teams played if there was any type of division competition like you usually see give or take around 500 like most division series last in the regular season all three of those teams would be out of a playoff spot because most of them would be under 500 so the tigers are going to be there they see an opportunity to make the post season they're going to go after it i don't care if garret crochet is pitching or not the the the tigers are going to definitely beat the chicago white socks at least one time this weekend there could be nothing worse than a team that's trying to get into the post season get swept by the chicago white socks and lose their their way out again that meds team went 40 and 120 in 1962 who knows how many lost more losses they would have had if they played 100 or no they didn't play play 162 games one of they had two more games two more games to deal with um tell you do you think they lose one more game or do they stave off history i hope they don't i hope they win i hope they went out i think it'd be great a great story that they got to 120 and then one out to to stave off being the worst team ever in history and they will also show you that these dudes have started to have some type of belief think about this they had lost 20 consecutive series before winning the series that they won before coming to san diego now they got swept against one of the best teams in baseball but all of those games were really technically competitive with the exception of um the middle game which i think kind of got away pajor that a couple runs they're late but they they competed and i i appreciate it remember they had a they've had a coaching change um you know certainly uh great size more his decision to keep crochet pushes start back to uh face detroit because he wants to give him the best game but i love that i i actually do and so i i'm hoping they pull it off it's likely they'll lose at least one game but i think it would be super cool to see him i see that team pull off just avoiding it at least showing that they are going to compete to the end all right number one now a civil lawsuit has been filed in florida that claims 18 year old max madis is the rightful owner of the shohayotani 5050 home run ball that is set to be auctioned off beginning tomorrow i guess golden auction house announced the ball was going to be available with an opening bid of five hundred thousand dollars and then attorneys for madis filed the lawsuit against the new jersey based auction house and chris belanski the man who came away with the ball and against his friend kelvin remiress so the lawsuit claims that madis was able to quote firmly grab the ball in his left hand successfully obtaining possession of the 5050 ball and quote uh but belanski put his arm in between his legs and wrangled the ball out of max's left hand adding that it was forcefully taken away from him so he is really trying to claim this ball this 18 year old kid um now my question is for for you tony you're up first here uh when does possession of the ball take place to the nfl rules for that i know well no one still knows when possession oh man when does when this possession take place is it the first person to grab it and have their hands fully around it did he complete the catch what did he does brian have to say i would i would say yes once you get your form grip on it like and if somebody's got to put their arm between their your arm between their legs in order to get it out of my legs dude what are you doing kind of i mean it's first of all with that kind of money online that dude's whole midsection region would have been taken out if you were me like you try to lock my hand in there we are we're gonna play 30 then that's fine uh yeah no i think uh i think you know if he's telling the truth who knows like he may not be telling the truth about this at all but if if he's telling the truth yeah he should get the ball brian we'll see the video evidence right i mean you can't walk you can't walk five steps in this country that being on camera i mean they have to have that on video somewhere with the amount of cameras that they have no they do is kind of like the ones i've seen aren't the clearest in the world but maybe i have to check a look at it then but i you know if if what he claims to be is true then i think he's got a rightful case but at the same time as tony said man that's a that's a very valuable ball right there so you got it you got to fight your way out of that guys got your arm between his legs i mean there's a quick way out of that with most males that's gonna drop his ass every single time so i don't know why the kid didn't do that i mean if it was really worth it to him he would have been throwing some haymakers in there and you like as tony said we're gonna lay in the muck man it's gonna be dirty down there so um you know if you wanted to keep the ball dude you should have fought a little bit more to keep the ball and and not get lures involved this entire story is major iwash i'm gonna have to see the the the video surveillance but you know what man if it was important to you you would have you would have won the fight uh i i mean i got a money shoot yeah i know i know it's a lot of money and i've watched the video for many different angles and there to me there's no clear way to tell that this kid had the ball however it was a melee there were people diving over tables there were people boxing people out there were people doing things that they probably would never do in a normal life in normal daily what's happening in Miami right yeah yes if i threw a case of five hundred i think i did see it man there there definitely was a there definitely was someone like underneath the chair and was the chair was being used to like block try to dislodge him but the guy who had the chair on them ended up with the ball so i didn't see him use his legs to dislodging this is not this is not like a football maybe it was this is like a fumble recovery in the national football league you you had those bat those piles are dirty they're melons that was a pile like that in high school and they were dirty it's probably even worse at the nfl level and probably even worse at the ball was worth five hundred thousand dollars yeah yeah exactly yeah hey kid work on your your hand strength next time and won't be taken away from you don't join an mma gym all right that's it for the big five and that's it for the show everybody we have the round table coming up next the round table replay from this morning uh ben and woods paul
