[music] Autumn is officially here. This is a season of abundance allowing comfort and connection. I am loving the crisp morning air, and I'm definitely feeling the nudge to shift some of my daily rhythms. Welcome to episode 181 of Celebrate Cultivate. I am your host and intuition coach, Kayleen Elise Seuss. I am feeling really energized and inspired right now. I just refreshed my vision board. My kids are in a really good routine and rhythm with school. A year of calm is beginning with the new folks that joined, and even though it's still warm in Austin, the high today is in the 90s, there are cooler temperatures on the horizon. And I'm really looking forward to that. We are starting to think about Halloween costumes, and I am dreaming about a few of the trips I have coming up in October and November. As we all transition into autumn, it's the perfect time to look at your routines and get rid of what's not feeling good and alignment for you and nurture yourself with the kind of self-care that aligns with where you are in life and the season we're in in nature. So in this episode, I'm going to give you some practical and intuitive ways to honor your needs, tune into your intuition, and weave self-care into your everyday life. Before we get into all of that, here are three ways to give yourself extra support this season. You can treat yourself to an autumn of ritual for $22. This is my self-paced course that I call a bundle of rituals for busy souls who are ready to release stress and embrace the spirit of the season. A bunch of you have already snagged an autumn of ritual and are diving into it, and I love seeing your names come through and some of your responses to the journal prompts because I get to see those if you submit them into the studio, and it's really exciting to support you through that self-paced class. You can also book an hour of intuition for $222. This is a private coaching session with me where you will find out what your inner wisdom is guiding you to do this autumn. I just had a new client do a session last week, and it was really unexpected for her because it was the first time she's ever had an inner voice session before she's never had an intuition session, but she's been following folks like Bella Lively for a really long time. That's who I got my training under. And if you follow Bella, then you're familiar with how much she's talked about inner voice through the years. This client came through as a referral from Bella's community. And I was really excited to work with her. I'd never met her before. And as we went through the session, the biggest surprise for her was how visual her inner voice is. So she does not consider herself a very artistic or visual person, but her inner voice was speaking to her almost exclusively in visions and in scenes that were playing out within her awareness. This is actually super common for people who are more analytical or wordy. I have multiple clients actually who are writers or coaches and their inner voices are really more visual. And it's always surprising to them because they're expecting to get words. But as my client's inner voice told her, you think with words all day long, so I'm coming through to you in a different way. And this really helps moving forward after the session, because then you are able to start realizing all the different ways your intuition is communicating to you in everyday life when maybe you were feeling like you didn't have a very strong connection. So again, if you are interested in exploring this book an hour of intuition and we'll find out together how your intuition is speaking to you. Finally, you can also get your ultimate autumn self care guide. This is free. And along with all of the tips that I'm sharing in today's episode, this will help you infuse more self care into your autumn season. If you're already a subscriber of my newsletter a moment, then you already got your ultimate autumn self care guide this week. But if for some reason you missed it or you aren't a subscriber, make sure you get that the links for all three of these things are in the show notes for today's episode. So just open up your podcast app and click on the links in there or visit kalenealease.com. We're going to talk about the importance of seasonal self care. And this is going to be a series that I revisit as each of the new seasons arrive because the different seasons bring different energies. So like I said at the very beginning, autumn is a time for abundance, allowing comfort and connection. But what does this actually mean? Abundance is, if you think about it this time of year is the harvest, the ideas and projects that you started at the beginning of this year, or maybe last last year are starting to become real or starting to wrap up. It's this season where a lot of goodness can come your way, but also a time where you got to allow that stuff to come through. So that's where allowing comes in, letting things flow, allowing yourself, your work, the other people in your life, all of it to be imperfect and authentic. And just as it is, as opposed to trying to fix and tweak and change everything, along with allowing comes this energy of prioritizing rest. And that transitions really nicely into the next energy, which is comfort and all things cozy after the warmth of the summer, we're ready to bundle up and socks and boots and cardigans and blankets and sip hot tea. But comfort is also what feels nourishing to not just your body, but your soul and your spirit. So making sure that you're taking time for connection, which is the last energy of the season in self reflection and connecting with your intuition, but also inviting in deeper connections with the people in your life. After the summer when everybody's traveling and there's lots of social things, but it's all across the board, autumn is a time where we gather in our communities. People are back to school, people travel some, but a little bit less. There's more holidays coming up. All of this is a huge opportunity for connection. And it also just circles back into the abundance in our schedules. Sometimes there is a lot going on in autumn that isn't right or wrong. That just is. So when we look at this idea of seasonal self care, it's aligning your routines and your rituals to the season you're in. And when you do that, you are being more realistic. You're being more aligned in your supporting yourself mentally, emotionally and physically within the flow of nature's rhythms, but also acknowledging where you are in life. So autumn can feel very grounding, but it can also feel very overwhelming with the holidays, school schedules, work schedules, and the days getting shorter. I'm going to share a handful of autumn self care practices. These absolutely could be used in any season, but they speak to me for this season because they relate to those different autumn energies. And they're also things that you can fit in and help support you as you are connecting to the intentions you've set for this season and the energy that you want to embody this season. The first one is journaling. Journaling, journaling, journaling. We love a good journal session. One of the reasons why we love a good journal session is because it brings what is inside you, what is internal and makes it external. So it helps you process your thoughts. Connect with your feelings and access your inner voice guidance by putting it out onto the page or onto the screen if you are journaling on the notes app or something else on your computer. Or even if you're on the go and recording a voice memo for yourself, that's not traditional pen and paper journaling, but it is still this process of taking what's internal and bringing it external. One of my favorite practices to do, which I'm sure you're not shocked to hear, is inner voice journaling. And that is when you take just eight minutes to tune into your inner voice and right from that place of wisdom inside of you. If you have the desire to do inner voice journaling in the morning, it can be a beautiful way to start your day and find out what your inner voice is guiding you to for that day. Maybe it's peace or creativity or rest or connection. And when you write it down, it helps make it a bit more tangible, a bit more physical, and something that you can tune into and access as you flow through your day with that energy. I have a whole free class all about journaling with intuition that I'll link to in the show notes for today's episode. And I'll also link to a few other journaling resources, inspiration for gratitude journaling, which can be really great this time of year, and prepaving journaling. This is journaling with a more manifestation bend to it. Prepaving journaling is when you write as if something has already happened. Another great thing to do at the beginning of the day or the beginning of a season. I recently, like I mentioned, refreshed my vision board for the season. And as a part of that, I did some prepaving journaling and a prepaving journaling, manifesting vision board type thing with chat GPT. So if you are at all interested in using AI to help you manifest, I can share more in a future episode or in a blog post. Just let me know if that's something that piques your curiosity. And if you're like, that is not for me, Kaylene. That's totally fine too. We'll just get back to some of the seasonal self care practices. So next up, we have leaning into the simple comforts. So making a cup of tea, lighting a candle, wearing cozy socks, all of these small moments can really transform ordinary everyday life things into self care rituals. When I talk about self care, I am not talking about the mass market media, self care, where you have to buy all of the things for all of the self care. That isn't that can be part of it. And that can be really fun and nice, but you don't have to do those things. So literally just making a cozy drink for yourself, or lighting a candle with ritual, or pulling on a fresh pair of socks can just be so comforting. I recently have been going through a big sock restock. I'm excited to share that some of the socks that I've ordered have come back and I really like them. So I will link to a few of my favorite socks in the show notes for today's episode. As far as comforting beverages go, every single year, I try to get on the pumpkin spice latte train. I don't know how many years it's going to take for me to realize that I don't like pumpkin drinks. Like even maybe you have something against Starbucks. So even the seasonal beverages that are offered at other coffee shops, they're just not for me. So that's okay. Never say never, but it's just something every time I buy one. I do not like it. So my go-to drink of choice at the coffee shop is a quartado. I love it so much. I will also get an Americano if I'm looking for something that has no dairy or any milk at all. I feel like an Americano is just like coffee tea and I really liked tea. My favorite tea of this season is from Good Earth and it's their sweet and spicy tea. I have loved that for decades. And so that's one of those that I will revisit and re-incorporate into this season. And I think one of the reasons why I love fall to begin with is because in the summer, I just really don't feel like drinking tea, but I love a good warm drink all day long. And so that's one of my faves. And I also love a hot water with lemon and honey. I mean, it's so simple, but it's so delicious. Okay, so another thing we've talked about a handful of times that I just cannot not mention it is clearing space. With the natural rhythms of autumn, it's a good time to declutter and clear out both your physical, mental, energetic space so that you have more alignment in your everyday life. So you can do really light decluttering projects, like a quick closet reset where you literally just take out the stuff that you know you never want to wear. You could do a medicine cabinet restock. I recently did this where I took out all of the medicines in the house that were expired or were old or combined the bottles so that we had like one children's Tylenol, not 57 different ones that were all half used. And it's very satisfying, but it also feels like while the people in my house are healthy, it feels good to refresh restock everything and then be prepared for the inevitable, which this season does have a tendency to bring in some illnesses. I know that it's going to happen. And so rather than being surprised by it this season, I'm a little bit more prepared. You can also do some energy clearing rituals as you're clearing spaces. So for example, in your closet reset, you can burn incense in your closet or in an area near your closet. If your closet doesn't have a space to burn incense and just rid as you're getting rid of the stuff that you don't want anymore, you can also clear the energy of any energy that you don't want anymore as you enter this new season. You can also set intentions for a space. So in your medicine cabinet, however you, wherever you put your medicine, we actually have three locations where medicine lives, one in our primary bathroom, one in the kids bathroom, and then one downstairs in the kitchen, I made this whole little area where I put a label on it that said feel better. And all of our band aids and medicine, all that is in there. And as I was refreshing that I set the intention for wellness and healing in our house. So making that tiny intention in a space that you're refreshing can be a really nice energetic elevation. I have been on a huge decluttering kick in my house, but it's been a lot of unseen areas. So the drawers, the cabinets, all the things that are kind of hidden. And I've been refreshing the labels on everything. Some of the labels don't make sense or I switched bins and put the batteries in a different place. And so I've been refreshing all of that with my favorite label maker. It's this analog one where you click each letter. And I will link to it in the show notes because if you are looking for the satisfaction of labeling things and you want something that's a little more old school, it is my favorite. I just love using it. Anytime I have an excuse to make a label, it feels so good. So after you've decluttered and refreshed the vibes and set intentions and burned your inset, you might be a little tired. The next thing I'm going to share is about restorative rest. This is a 10 minute nap or just getting flat for a few minutes or curling up with a good book or a show in the afternoon for a little 10 minute break or 20 minute break, whatever you have the time in the bandwidth for. In my ultimate autumn self-care guide, I share five of my favorite book pairings. Book pairings is my own idea. I don't know if anybody else is doing this, but I just think it's such a fun little thing. So I'm sharing a book that I think you'll love to read with a movie or show that you can watch that has a similar vibe. Sometimes it is literally, this is a book and this is the movie of the book, but most of the time, they match each other in some way and it's nice to pair them together. So check those out in the guide if you haven't yet. And if you work an office job or you have a very demanding schedule, maybe your restorative rest is doing a short meditation between meetings. Maybe it is literally just closing your eyes and breathing for a minute. It is shocking how effective that is when you really do it, like literally set a timer for one minute on your phone, close your eyes and breathe. It can be the rest and reset that you need. Another seasonal self-care practice that I love for fall is getting grounded, especially in Austin where it is so hot during the summer as the weather cools, taking a walk in nature feels so good. And nature is transforming this time of year. So when you leave the house one day, the trees outside and the plants outside will look one way. A week later, they could look totally different. So just getting grounded in the elements outside and feeling into the shifts and changes that are happening can help be very powerful for acknowledging that we shift and we change and what we want changes, how we feel about things change, and it's okay. Sometimes, especially if you are on this path of listening to your intuition and living in alignment and allowing and flow and all of these things, it can be very exciting, very thrilling. It can be a very spiritual experience, but then it's like, well, I'm still a person. I still have to pay taxes and I still have to fit into the cultural norms and hanging out with my in-laws and all of these things. And we can often fear change in that process. So getting outside and getting grounded and witnessing the change in nature can just be this like subliminal subtle healing to our mind to let us know that change isn't just acceptable or something that we overcome. It's just a fact. It's just a reality in nature. And then finally, the last self-care practice I want to share for this season is self-mothering in autumn. So self-mothering is giving yourself that nurturing love and care that we all crave, that we all deserve. And whether or not you have a relationship with your mom is beside the point, although if you don't have a mother in your life for whatever reason, self-mothering can be an especially powerful practice. So as you consider this season and look at what fall is for you, what fall means to you, what fall is bringing to you, look at how you can become your own source of comfort and safety and love and connection as the seasons change. So giving yourself more compassion, allowing for more rest, giving yourself grace, treating yourself when you really want something, all of these things can be really nourishing self-mothering practices in autumn. The shift in seasons can bring so much excitement, so much energy, but it can also bring a lot of emotions, feelings, and memories. So having rituals can help provide some structure and support for yourself as the seasons shift and as you start to deepen into the season of fall. And when I talk about self-care, again, it is beyond bath bombs and face masks, although I love those things. But self-care is also really truly listening to what you need, what feels nourishing and grounding for you, and not just adding a bunch of things to cart and a bunch more to-dos to your list. So as you're listening to this, as you're reading the show notes, as you get the free self-care guide, look at yourself honestly and look at your life honestly and ask your inner voice, "What small, easy thing can I do for myself today that feels aligned and nourishing?" So instead of being like, "What 20 things can I add to my fall bucket list?" Because Lord knows if I did 20 things on my fall bucket list, I wouldn't do anything else that season but my fall bucket list, you know. So what are the ittiest, bittiest, tiniest little things that I can do for myself? And then what are a few bigger things that I want to make sure I make space for this season? Just a few episodes back in episode 179, I shared rituals to welcome fall and celebrate the autumnal equinox. The equinox was just this past Sunday. So even though there's already like tiny aisles for Christmas in some of the stores, autumn just began. So you are in no way behind if you are just getting started with welcoming this season. If you want more guidance and more inspiration, then definitely check out the ultimate autumn self-care guide that's totally free and purchase an autumn of ritual for just $22 if you want to invite more intention and intuition into this fall. That's it for today's episode. Thank you as always for listening. It is okay for you to make time for yourself to welcome autumn and embrace the energy that this season brings. Remember, you don't have to do it all. So just pick a few ideas for inspiration and flow from there. I'll be back with another episode soon and I'll talk to you then. Bye. [Music] [BLANK_AUDIO]
